A:how do i boot my hp 2000 notebook pc laptop using CD ROM

Hi, Insert the installation disc and Shutdown the notebook. Tap away at the esc key as soon as you press the power button to enter the Start-up Menu and then select the Boot Options Menu ( f9 ). Use the arrow keys to highlight the CDROM option and hit enter - if prompted to 'Press any key to continue....' - do so. Regards, DP-K

A:My HP 2000-369wm notebook won't boot past the HP logo screen...

Not a lot of info here1) Can you access the BIOS /CMOS screen2) IF yes can you move around the screens and or see that the system has recognised the hard drive. Does the system make any strange noises? How long does it take to switch on ?Is it getting over hot? What happen eventually?Do you can you power it off easily or do you have to hang on to the power button to get it to go offWith it powered OFF!Have you tried removing the hard drive?Reseatting the Memory?Removed the Optical drive? If no then try this below.  Try using a boot DVD/CD to establish if the system will 'get out of bed' Or a linux boot flash stick you can then see if the system is viable and or if the system can access the Hard drive(s) It will also allow you to recover the data transfer to a flash stick.

I cleared all the files from my laptop and now when i start it up it says "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation." When i click OK and it restarts to do the install the same message comes up and i cannot do anything else besides keep clicking OK. What exactly do i do about this?

A:HP 2000 Notebook PC

kfull Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!I read your post about installing Windows and wanted to help -- but need more information. First off, WHY are you trying to install Windows? If this is because you are trying to reset the laptop due to problems, we need to know that. Second, what version of Windows are you trying to install? Third, please follow these instructions for providing the detailed product number of your laptop:  http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824?jumpid=reg_r1002_usen_c-001_title_r0001We can proceed once you provide the information. Thanks

I have made back up discs when i bought this pc, But with the Windows 10 , I am not given the choice to do a Restore. My PC keeps flashing on alot of the pages, Im running Norton security and Malware Bytes, and nothing has been found. I need to find a way to restore this back to the way it was when i bought it.  bought in 2013 , and it had windows 8 , 64 bit.  Thank you  Dee33

A:HP 2000 Notebook PC

Dee33 If you did the Win10 Upgrade and are now trying to revert back to Wion8, I have some bad news for you. While Microsoft tells you that there is no risk in the Win10 Upgrade, because they let you believe that you can always revert back to your original OS and setup within 30 days, the ugly fact of the matter is that the Win10 GoBack function has proven to be unreliable -- and when it fails, it can leave machines in a corrupted state -- which doesn't always happen, but it does happen often enough to be a problem and you won't get any warning in advance that it is going to trash your PC!The Win10 Upgrade is know, in some cases, to corrupt the Recovery partition stored there by the OEM that built the original machine.  This pretty much guarantees that no HP Recovery is going to work. So, any attempt to use F11 to do a restore is doomed to failure. Are you trying to use the Recovery Disks, by booting from the first one, and they are not working? If so, what is happening when you try to use them? We can proceed once you provide the information. Thanks

Hi, Try to run a diagnostic test Turn your computer offthen turn it back on and keep on tapping on ESCLook for Diagnostics F2Look for component test, Hard drive test, then click quick check then run once. It will then check your computer's hard drive. After the test it should give you a result if the hard drive pass or fail with a failure id number If the computer pass. Try running malwarebytes to your computer (I know that the antivirus of your computer is updated but we wanted to check if there are virus infection present) Try downloading bios update. Please refer here on how to install the bios update http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/randomly-shuts-down/m-p/5603375... Note: Please disable your computer's log in password just to make sure you won't encounter any locked up issues after bios update by going to  RUN then type netplwiz then uncheck the box click apply then enter your password and re enter it (Just dont mind the user)

Depends on the settings. You can change it to be always on or always off via the bios, or the system settings in windows. But if you set it to always off, the fan will turn on either way if the cpu gets over 70c

When requesting assistance, please provide the complete model name and/or product number of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq makes thousands of models of computers. Without this information it may be difficult or impossible to assist you in resolving your issue. The above requested information can be found on the bottom of your computer or inside the battery compartment. Please do not include your serial number.  It will be necessary to set the SATA settings in BIOS to IDE mode. If your computer doesn't support this option, you will need to "slipstream" SATA / AHCI drivers into the Windows XP disc using a utility such as nLite OS. Please click the white KUDOS star to show your appreciation

Merry Christmas

I hope someone can help. I have a copy of win2000 upgrade that I used to upgrade a brand new HP notebook PC from Windows ME to Win2000 (upgrade). Everything looks good except 2 things:

When it checked for win2000 compatibility with loaded software (I was just from the factory), it identified that 2000 was not compatible with any of the Windows Works programs that were pre-loaded. (that was fine as I have office xp I'm going to use). When I boot up the computer, I get an error message box saying:
WKSCal.exe -unable to locate DLL
The dynamic link library MSVCP60.DLL could not be found in specified path (.....yada-yada)
Question 1- how can I get that error message to go away for good since I don't need to ever use that file.

Question 2- win2000 shrank the screen display of the windows desktop, it doesn't fill the whole screen. It is shrunk on all 4 sides aproximately 20%. I have adjusted the screen resolution in the control panel/display/settings to the more setting and it does not help. The other parts of the screen are black and acts like the monitor is small.

I appreciate anyone's help on this. Thanks.

Hello

First:
My BIOS does not support booting from a USB device
The Notebook does NOT have a CD-ROM
I am able to access a USB CD-ROM with a bootdisk
I've created 3 partitions, but only the second partition is working, because the harddisk is corrupt
The partion is 7GB large and has the letter D

The Problems I've encountered:
I tried to start the ..\I386\winnt.exe but the setup doesn't see my Harddrive. Windows is unable to locate a appropriate drive with enough space.
Same as above happens when I run the winnt from the harddisk
The setup doesn't start at all when there is no CD-ROM driver loaded, so I cannot just use simple bootdisks
Well, what can I do?? I'd like to load the USB drivers during the bootsetup(using 4 bootdisk) but I do not know how. Does anyone have a idea how to get this installation going?
Thank you

My laptop probably suffered some damage within the couple years that I have had it but never had any running problems with my baby. I recently went to turn my computer on and the screen stayed black. The fan is still running and LED lights are still lit so I do not know what the problem is. I think it could be the monitor but I do not have an external monitor to test it on. I know that I am running on the Windows 10 OS but I  am not sure if it is 32-bit or 64-bit

A:HP 2000 Notebook (Energy STAR)

Try a hard reset.  http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01684768 Without an external monitor it is going to be hard to test if it is the screen panel. Do you see the hard drive light blinking like there is activity? Do you hear sounds? Can you get into the BIOS (F10) or diagnostics (F2) as you power up?

Last week I purchased an HP 2000 notebook with windows 8 installed I now wish to return and upgrade for a model with a faster processor. I only have a very few personal items on it such as my email address, windows password administrator details and log in passwords on a couple of apps. Therefore I am considering doing a factory reset to remove my personal information and any passwords I have installed. There is no windows key on the notebook itself. In the windows information there is a product ID number which I do not think is the windows key and another which seems to be it but consists of some asterisks and just the last five letters of a key therefore, I am uncertain about what I need to do.I am not very good with computers but as far as I can ascertain I need to do a factory reset via the HP repair software and not any other way.Any advice as to how I should proceed and what precautions I should take would be most welcome (I have watched the specific HP video on this proceedure, maybe I'm just stupid but I found it only added to my confusion).Don

A:Getting a new hp notebook. 1500-2000 budget. Need some help :)

Hey Zizou I am actually in the exact same boat as you right now. I'm looking for a sub 2k notebook. Here are a few things you might find useful that I did:

The Centrino's have just gone through a yearly hardware refresh called Santa Rosa. Since these are brand new Centrino's not all the notebooks that will use them are avaliable yet. By around the end of June though, they should all be pretty much on the market. I'd really suggest waiting until at least then before you upgrade.

Now the mods here may kill me for this, but I found notebookreview.com and specifically their What notebook should I buy? section to be very helpful.

Personally I'm leaning towards getting a Compal IFL90 barebones and customizing it with powernotebooks.com. Here's the deal i was able to get on their site:

Currently my notebook has the standard 4GB of memory using the HP provided Hynix HMT451S6AFR8A SoDIMM, 12800 DDR3L-1600, 1.35V. I have been looking to replace it with either Kingston HyperX, HX316LS9IB2_8, DDR3L-1600 (2x4GB) kit or the Crucial Ballistix Sport CT6278900, DDR3L-1600 (2x4GB) kit. Both have 9-9-9 timings. My question is will the memory with lower timings and the density of the chips work on my HP 2000-2d37cl notebook with an AMD A6-5200 CPU? Also I was curious about postings in the forums where persons had lost the Admin or other passwords on theirHP 2000 notebooks or they purchased a used notebook that had a unknown password. They provide the codes from the error on screen and the reply's from techs allowed them to get past this and reset their systems. I hope I never have that problem, however where exactly are the techs getting the codes from? Is there some program or document available that has the code alogrithm? Thank You.

Hello maggie75. I understand that you're having some problems with your microphone. You should try recording audio in another application so that you can determine whether this is an issue with the application or the microphone. Try the following.Click Start, type "sound recorder," and press Enter. This opens the Sound Recorder application.Attempt to record sound.Verify whether or not you hear sound.Post the result.Also. you may need to update some software. If this is the case it will be helpful to have your product number. This document can show you where it is located for me.I will await the result of this. I hope you have a great day!

A:my hp notebook 2000 is not starting but caps lock is blinkin...

The heat damaged the motherboard. You can try keeping it in the sun. Kind of a substitute for baking the main chipset which sometimes works temporarily to melt the solder connections and get everything flowing again but never lasts very long.  The data recovery did not cause this, by the way, just a coincidence.

Hey guys, I've been noticing a strange issue with my 2011 HP 2000 Notebook laptop for quite some time and figured
I should look into asking for some assistance. For a long while now, my laptop, at very random and less-than occasional times, will make a squealing sound or a long beep, and then something inside clicks rather loud. I've noticed lately that I have received a "BAD_POOL_HEADER" Blue Screen error a few times, twice when I would wake the computer from Sleep Mode, and once while a Windows 7 update was in progress. Luckily, after my computer restarted from the one Blue Screen, the update continued like normal. I've also noticed once in a while if I shut the computer down, right before the laptop completely powers off, it may make a quick beep and click before powering off. I'm a little scared, as I don't know what could be the issue. I feel as though it's the HDD, but I don't know, hence why I'm asking for help here. Can someone help me out? Thanks!

I have a dv6t with the i7  720m processory from about 3 yrs ago build. I think it has clarksfield processor. I have a 2 x 2 gig installed for total of 4gig now from the original build.   I am wondering (assuming Win  7 64 bit home premium which supports up to 16gig), will this laptop only support 8gig?  I ran a tool and it has a reference of Logical/Chipset memory banks  maximum memory installable of 32gig and a reference to Computer memory controller Max installable memory of 8gig.  So what gives? Will the laptop support 2x8gig memory sticks or just 2x4gig memory sticks?  The DV6T 2000 CTO Entertainment laptop.  If it supports 16 gig, I would like to just buy one of the 8gig rather than 2x4gig sticks. And maybe try to use one of the 2 gigs with the 8gig giving me 10gig for now...or just wait to see if I need a 2nd 8gig.  And will a bios upgrade support the 16 gig?

A:DV6T 2000 CTO Entertainment Notebook with i7 72QM processor...

I figured I would update my own question with the truth and working answer which hopefully helps anyone else that stubmles into this.  But in a nutshell the DV6t 2000 CTO models one could order about 2009 DO DO DO support 16gig and NOT just 8 gig. I have 2 slots. I have the 720QM quad first edition, yes first edition. Both Intel site and Memory checker sites are WRONG!  The saying was 1st gen cpu quads do not support more than 2x4gig=8gigs.  In fact one of my tools suggests I can put in up to 32gig assuming I can find 2 x 16gig memory sticks that I don't even think exist yet for general sale let alone affordability. Spread the word as hopefully this will help others. I bought memory at egghead and figured I would chance it since I read several reviews and comments in various locations suggesting they tried 16gig and indeed it worked for the 720QM processor.  I did not have to update my BIOS that HP last suggested I install circa 2010ish as opposed to the 4 or so that are available today for my model but I think were updated to support other things my model did not require. I ran memory tests too in 5 iterations without issue and in fact it booted right away with no problems with WIN 7 home premium recognizing the sticks. I also checked the CPU64z tool  tab for memory.

Alrighty! Here goes!

I've been searching online for five hours looking for fixes for this. I recently replaced the Windows 8 on this Notebook with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit Edition because, simply put, I bloody hate Windows 8.

This has become problematic for me because it appears that there are no compatible drivers that pair Windows 7 and this device's hardware.

I posted in Yahoo Answers about an hour and ten minutes ago and I'm incredibly frustrated with the results (go figure). A link to that question, in case I forget any information I mentioned there: Downgrading to Windows 7 with HP 2000-2b89WM Notebook? - Yahoo! Answers

The product information page for the HP 2000-2b89WM Notebook is located here: HP 2000-2b89WM Notebook PC Product Specifications HP 2000-2b89WM Notebook PC | HP? Support

I have several drivers that are "Out of date." The main one that I'm worried about is the Graphics/Display driver. On the HP website, the device is listed as: Intel HD graphics 3000 with up to 1696MB total graphics memory.

I've tried installing the Windows 8 drivers (which do nothing) and I have also tried updating my drivers through Windows Update. I've also visited HP's driver site, Intel's, and even NVidia, I believe, all to no avail.

I'm hoping that an informed someone can tell me whether or not there are drivers for my graphics chip, and if there are, where I can find them and how I can install them in working order.

Thank you so much for any help! ... Read more

Hi, As you are confirming that issue is intermittent, and now its working fine, it means that issue would be of display cable. The display cable would be loose. Issue can be fixed by refixing the display cable, if the issue persists then the display cable needs to be replaced. This is the only reason, I asked you in the previous post whether issue was intermittent or display view changed while moving the display lid. This particualr issue has nothing to do with the temperature. Regards,Sumit I am an HP Employee

I have a HP notebook(XP Home) that stop booting windows a while back after it crashed during an SP2 install. It does not boot from any mode in the advanced menu(safe, command, last known good config, etc.). I can't boot from my Knoppix disk because it says that there is a checksum error, even though I can boot from the same Knoppix disk on my desktop fine. Mind you this laptop has only a CDRW/DVDROM combo drive, no floppy or zip. I finally found my XP setup cd recently and tried to boot from it to perform a repair or access the recovery console, if it's possible. The problem is it won't even boot from that. It gives me the "NTLDR missing, press ctrl+alt+delete to restart" message when I boot from the Win Xp setup cd. I have read about some of the solutions involving a floppy boot disk, but I only have a cdrw/dvdrom combo drive to work with. Anybody have any ideas how to resolve this so I can boot the setup disk and run a repair?

A:HP Notebook/XP/Will not boot in any mode/tried to to boot from XP disk=NTLDR missing

Make sure your boot sequence in the BIOS is set to boot from the cdrw/dvdrom drive first. Place in your disc and reboot.
Normally tapping the Delete key at boot will take you into the BIOS

My niece is looking for a laptop for her son possibly for a holiday gift. Office Depot has this machine for $299.00 after $50.00 rebate, and being considered the nerd of the family they always ask me, but I am not familiar with this processor. He just started high school and would be doing some homework, browsing the net, and if any, light gaming on the laptop. He does his gaming on his Xbox 360 at this time. So unlike me who is big into MS Flight Simulator and pc programs like this, he does not do any kind of things like this on their existing old home computer. What about heat issues? And I am sure the ram could be upgraded but almost sure there is no need for his purposes.

Here are the specs:

I have a dv7-6b50ea notebook, and I'm getting mildly annoyed by its crippled booting options. I'm starting to wonder if I'm doing something wrong, or if there's a problem I'm not seeing. Firstly, HP seem to have disabled booting from the 2nd hard drive, for reasons that are beyond me. While irritating, most users can overcome this by using EasyBCD. For me, this isn't an option as I need to boot to a loader in the MBR.  Also, the system doesn't seem to boot from USB either, which is a first for me. Whether it's a Linux installation disk, a Linux installation, a Windows installation USB stick, nothing. Nothing will boot from USB. It appears just fine in the list of devices I can use for booting, but it always fails to boot. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or is the DV7 crippled by design?

A:DV7 Notebook - Won't boot from USB

Hi, When booting up and tapping on the Esc key to enter the startup menu and then selecting F9 did you change the boot order to enable a DVD or USB flashdrive to boot first?  That is a requisite.  Take a look in the BIOS in the security settings tab for Secure Boot. Disable it. Some recent notebooks have this option enabled by default. Best regards, erico

Press the power button, then immediately press the [Esc] key (it doesn't hurt to hold the key down). When the POST finishes, you'll be prompted to press the F1 key to enter BIOS setup. Press the [F1] key to access the BIOS setup program.

Scout around the BIOS and set the boot order to CD_ROM First. That should redirect the boot process to the CD_ROM first.

Gateway 5150 , 20GB hd, 128 RAM, prob P2 366
For a number of months made a slow staccato irregularly timed clacking sound like what I assumed the heads on the HD were making in what I thought was the area of the HD in the case, especially when booting up, but not much when in general use. Would still boot. However, recently it stopped booting, and also no more clacking. I thought HD dead so got a replacement and installed it, but still no boot with CD to install new OS on the HD. Talked with Gateway support, they said it's not the HD it's some other problem (but couldn't or wouldn't tell me what they thought it is), and they want $250 to fix it or more if need be for a computer that's probably worth less than that. Maybe I should just give it up but it seems like a waste, and I wouldn't mind getting some of the data which wasn't backed up. Power supply looks fine, I/O light is on, I hear HD whirring (no clacking) and CD start spins CD but no screen activity at all, no bios etc.
Any ideas what might be the issue, and can I repair it?
Thanks for any input.

Hello. I am clueless when it comes to computers. I can't boot my computer. I don't have any of the disks for Windows 2000, I downloaded a boot disk on MSN.com and it won't work. Its telling me that it is a Non-system disk or there is a disk error. What do I need to do. Please help.

A:I can't boot my computer using a boot disk.(win 2000)

What is your goal? Do you want help fixing your current installation of Windows 2000, or do you want to reinstall everything on your computer?

If you don't have a CD with Windows 2000 on, you cannot reinstall Windows 2000. A boot disk only helps facilitate the installation of an operating system.

Hello, I recently received a laptop from a friend that won't boot anymore. When I press the power button nothing happens. Not even the power LED next to the power jack turns on. I am pretty sure that the power adapter is working because the voltmeter shows 19.9V. I have tried to remove the battery, disconnected the power adapter and pressed the power button for about 30 seconds. Then I plugged the power adapter back in and pressed the power buttton but nothing happened.Might there be a broken fuse on the laptops motherboard?  Thank you in advance.

Hi,I have ongoing issues with my HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-P287SA, Windows 10.  Yesterday it would not boot, instead it flashed the caps-lock LED at me once which I beleive is a CPU issue. I did a hard reset on it (took the battery out ect.) and it booted and worked normally all day. This moring it again won't boot again but this time it beeps twice, waits a few seconds and then beeps twice again, five tinmes in total, and then it flashes the caps-lock LED twice, waits, and then twice again. It won't boot at all, even after a hard reset.  What does the beeping mean, what is the problem here?

Hi Joseph_Kurian, Welcome to the HP forum! Thank you for your query, I will do my utmost to assist you. I understand that you formatted the drive and created 3 partitions. When you formatted the entire drive it formatted the D (recovery Partition) and you no longer have a Recovery partition.  I am not sure why you chose to stop the installaiton, but you are now getting, Boot Manager Missing error. Here is a link to a  Boot Manager Missing document, to aid you with startup.

Hi All:

Mr Bruce 1959 has suggested I re-post my problem here so here goes:
A few weeks ago I started to download DVDShrink from what looked like a perfectly legitimate company site. After I clicked to download the program it began instead to install itself. At the same time all kinds of alarms went off - Comodo, Malwarebytes, etc. - and I quickly shut down.
After booting up I ran a quick Mbam scan and it found 32 infected files which I deleted. I then ran a full Mbam scan and it found a bunch more. Later I also ran full Mbam and Avast scans but this time around neither came up with anything.
For a few days everything ran OK but then Firefox began to freeze up whenever I brought up a web page with a Youtube video on it. Then other things started to freeze - Task Manager, etc. - and now it's reached the stage that the computer won't boot. The computer won't even start in Safe Mode. At best it just brings up my mouse pointer (which works) and the Windows Welcome screen but nothing more.
Different Windows messages have appeared at times one of which said something to the effect that Windows was stopping to prevent further damage. There is a separate RECOVERY partition on the D drive for restoring the computer to factory settings but I can't access it.

Pressing the F keys on startup bring up the following screens while pressing the ESC key on startup brings up a menu listing all five of thes... Read more

I'll report this topic to appropriate helpers.
1. Please let us know what Windows version you have and if it's 32- or 64-bit.
2. Is the computer bootable in any mode?

Got a notebook with Windows 7 on it and all of a sudden it's started not booting up, I've tried running the operating system recovery, memory diagnostix and the various tools presented to me to try and fix the issue with no luck. It just sits at the black screen with the yellow bar running across the bottom and never boots up. Also tried safe mode but it just stops after loading disk.sys.

Only way I can get on is if I reinstall Windows, first format all the drives then reinstall it - it works fine (boots up) but as soon as I shut down I can't get back on and I'm back to square one.

Also tried an older operating system with no luck (it was running 7 for months before this issue).

I have an Asus G75VX with Win7 64bit Home Premium that is suppose to be installed on it from a Microsoft Win7 Home Premium 32 and 64bit DVD. Instead of installing windows 7 64bit it has a locked file path in the bios to boot to X: network volume with WinPE that installs WinNT 32bit Client Server software in User Mode on C:Virtual Network Disk Volume. I am not even the administrator of my own personal computer. Someone I do not know and have never met is. I was just given a profile in the users and administrators group. I took a look at the registry many times and the registry confirms the client server configuration. What is wired is that I purchased the software from Fry's and paid 216.00 for the DVD and I paid $1375.00 for the G75VX. The WinPE is actually an operating system on the X:volume. I know because I have been in it. There is no way to boot my notebook without the X: WinPE network operating system booting. If you attempt to recover the notebook recovers from X:. There are not even any Win7 installation files on the win7 DVD. The other things is that after install the fake operating system masquerading as win7 will pass the Microsoft Genuine Security scan. Take a look at X: on your computer and see if you have a second operating system to. I actually thing there are three or more on mine.

A:no way to boot my notebook without the X: WinPE

That sounds like a PE disk being read in your optical drive.

What evidence is there in BIOS setup that such a lock has been placed? Check every tab for anything which indicates this. Otherwise it sounds like fantasy. Your BIOS would be locked from entry if such hacking had been done. In that case you'd either reflash to the last BIOS version or ship to manufacturer to have it recovered to Factory Condition.

If there is nothing which provides proof of this in the BIOS then wiping the hard drive with Diskpart Clean All Command to do the same perfect install as Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 will leave nothing that can affect the new system at all.
