Q: HP Probook 4730s & Failure to load after Windows 10 installe...

Good Evening All,Tech-Xcellent here, I have a HP Probook 4730s with Windows 10 installed. Before the installation, I upgraded the BIOS & required drivers, installed the update, updated the newly installed Windows 10, did the customary reboot and 'blank screen'. The laptop itself is making noise like it's busy doing something, but there is no display. I have connected via HDMI a secondary screen and still nothing. It reaches the first 'windows' logo with the loading thingy underneath it, disappears and goes 'blank', I have no error code's, I cannot access 'safe-mode' and have been through all the recovery options, none of which worked (except the return to a working restore point), but it's moot as the system updates again and reboots and nothing, again!. I have it connected to power the entire time, I was running Windows 8.1 x64 rather well prior to this Windows 10 issue. Any suggestions? I have tired everything possible to solve this.Thank you, - Tech-Xcellent.

Hey hey internet,  I have been thinking about upgrading my usb ports on my probook and wanted to know if anyone has had a go at it and if so, how'd they get on and where did they start? Also, more importantly, if it is actually possible to do, I know the 4530 was able to support usb 3 and figured it should be fine for the 4730 but always good to check, right?  Thanks in advance and hope all is well with you fine people

Best thing is having a clean Windows 7 64bit install.2. Fist we need to download and install basic drivers for our laptop from HP website http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5060894&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4058 (choose your operating system)3. Well when I try to start up windows I get the screen with the windows xp logo and the bar thingy that runs through the box. It looks something like this picture I made in MS Paint.

Yeah, well you get the idea. I'm thinking it could have damaged one of the system files, something similar happened to my uncle. He was shutting down his computer and he all of a sudden pulled the power and his computer went dead because it was the exact wrong time to pull the power.

I tried diagnostics and it said the computer was fine.

Please help!

Hi,
My computer has just refused to load windows. It starts to load but then brings up a black screen explaining that the reason for windows failing to load could be due to new hardware or software being upload (which I havent) or the machine having been shut down due to power failure (which there wasnt). It has a list of options such as starting windows using last config or start windows normally, but I can scroll up or down these as the computer is frozen. It then says windows will start up in 30 seconds and a timer counts down from 30 to zero and then nothing happens. the computer then freezes up. Can anyone suggest anything? Cheers

Hi all,

I have a Asus P5A motherboard.

Last week my desktop computer started to crash every time it loaded windows and then my IDE HD died as well. So I bought a new SATA HDD and installed windows xp fine on it. After the installation, and when windows loaded for the first time, I noticed that it did not recognize my onboard LAN or audio, my video card, soundcard and other hardware. It had the "!" mark in the device manager beside all of them. The only thing that worked was my USB drives and it recognizes my RAM slots. So I downloaded my chipset motherboard drivers from my laptop, and they must've been the wrong drivers because when rebooted my machine, just before it would go to load windows, all that I see is a flashing cursor at the top left.

I formatted my new HD again and tried to reinstall windows, only to get the same thing when it reboots to go to the next stage of the windows set up: a flashing cursor.

Is my motherboard dead? Should I flash it? Any ideas?

I bought a used computer which was loaded with Windows 98. Because I have Windows XP on the computer (which I own) at my office, I wanted to load XP on the used computer for use at home. The new (used) computer has a Pentium III 450 processor, 128 mb ram. I began loading the program and left the computer alone for a half hour or so. When I returned, the screen read, in the upper right hand corner, in plain white print, "Welcome to Setup." The only response I can get is if I press Enter and the screen reads, this time in the center of the page and still in plain white letters, "Windows XP Home Edition CD-ROM." No matter what I do that won't change. If I turn the computer off and re-start it I get the same result. Help! Have I destroyed this computer? What do I do now?

I got a new PC with Vista in January, and it worked pretty well until about mid-November, when the thing started freezing randomly and wouldn't unfreeze even for Ctrl+Alt+Del. Eventually it seemed to get fed up and made me a new account and pretended to have deleted all my files (original account = Glen, new account = Glen.GlensPC, so they both showed up as merely "Glen") which were still located in the original place.

Then, control panel no longer worked. I tried cleaning the registry but with no luck. Virus scans and spyware scans picked up nothing. Also, it kept telling me that my "Vista is not genuine" despite the fact that I'd already validated it.

However, the original freezing problem sort of disappeared. Until today. I got fed up with it and decided to do a recovery, because Restore didn't have any effect whatsoever.

So I did the recover, and half-way through it stops and says "image not found" or something similar, before turning the computer off. When I turned it back on, it said it couldn't load Windows/that "vital files were missing", so I restarted and F11'd it, tried again, got the same result. Image not Found. Tried 3 times in total and nothing worked.

So, I'm at a loss.

My system:

HP iPower 8620

? Windows Vista? Home Premium (auto-updated to SP1)
? Intel Core2 Quad Processor Q6600
? 1066 MHz
? 2048MB DDR
? DDR2 533 / 667 Mhz
? 500GB SATA

Hi All,

I've included one of the debugger printouts.

The Primary Hard-Drive, Power Supply, and Ram have all been replaced since the problem started
Clean Windows Install.
CPU Temp 35C-40C Average
MB Temp 37C Average
Ram Passed Memtest86 - 10 runs
I tried installing a new fan and fresh thermal compound to no effect.
I've been using a temp monitoring program.
CPU temp never goes above 42C.

I replaced the C drive and did a fresh install of XP Pro. The original drive had half dozen bad sectors which I originally thought was the culprit.

Long story short:

Had issues with Windows Update (would not download/install properly), then one day last week, system restarted and now Windows will not load. Safe mode, normal mode, recovery mode all do not work - they just result in a black or blue screen with a visible cursor. To make matters worse, booted in startup check mode and performed a hard drive test which resulted in the following message: "failed - replace hard disk 1 (warranty TD - error code 10008). What are my options? My main focus is to recover my personal files. Thanks in advance!

Ill give it to your straight. Sounds like a hardware problem, specifically harddrive.
If it is the hard drive you may have lost everything already. If hardware, excluding harddrive, your worst case scenario, you can take the hard drive and access with another computer. If it is not a hardware, but rather a software problem, back up your stuff with this procedure

It said that i had 10 mega bites of space left on my hard drive, which was not true as i had cleaned it out only a few days earlier. But to try to fix the annoying crazy message i quickly moved anything i could to my external HDD making an additional 16gigs available... but it continued to flash 10 mega bites, so i tried to rollback to an earlier time but it just said there was not enough space to do this. So i thought maybe i need to do a virus scan so i did and i came up with nothing, the whole time this 'rollback' program is flash at me to rollback windows to an earlier date, so then i thought maybe i need to re boot and it will clear up this issue... Not so, a new message at boot up appeared saying ....wait a moment.... then after a minute or so it would go into the boot up mode window of starting normally or in safe mode, so i chose safe mode with networking and so windows begin to load all the system drivers and just as it was about t... Q: 4730s

I have a Probook 4730s which has Protectools on it version 5.10.18.  I do not have a fingerprint scanner but I keep getting a biometric notice when I start the machine.  Since I don't have the scanner I want to disable it.  But everything I can find talks about a green check mark to do that but the Security Manager doesn't show any kind of check marks.  I tried installing a newer version but says it can't install because the drive is encrypted.  Again no way to unencrypt drive.  I am frustrated to the point I want to uninstall Protectools but it doesn't show up in installed programs et cetera so I can't uninstall it either. If yours didn't you can get it here:

You can get Sun's Java plugin here (no harm in having them both!), or you might want to get Opera6 with Sun's java, nice to have a backup browser too.

Hi, this is my first post on this forum.

I've been trawling the net all morning trying to find a solution but with no luck so i thought i'd ask insted.

I Recently did a system restore after things went a bit pear shaped on my computer. I was re-installing some drivers for my sound card and various other things and was asked to restart my computer, so i did.

When restarting windows my screen displayed a message saying " No signal going to sleep". I was not impressed to say the least!

I tryed a few things
-restarting it again
-tryed my tv as screen (which ive used before)
- installed my orginal graphics card

The strage thing is that the drivers i was installing where not for the graphics as i had already installed this a few days ago and the card was working perfectly.

So i have come to the conclusion that i need to reset every back to the way it came out the factory and build it up again.
But this is particly hard because i can't see anything on the screen.

Help please!

Cheers

Hello Everyone,

I recently installed a new RAM on my HP Pavillion DV5-1004nr laptop.
Installed 2GB and I have Windows 7 x64 SP1.

The problem is, on the properties of my computer, it shows I have a 4GB of RAM installed but only 2.75GB is usable.

BIOS also detects that I have 4GB of RAM on my machine.

I also checked the Resource Monitor, and found out that 1283MB is Hardware Reserved.

Please let me know what the problem is. 1.3GB is a huge amount and I would not want to put that to waste.

Let me know if you need anything else from me.

Thank you in advance,

the 1283MB or 1.3GB will be used by the onboard graphics chip.

Hello,

One of the users at work got antivirus 360 on his PC, I was able to remove the av360.exe manually and remove a couple of registry entries, so at least its not nagging him or dishing out fake bsod any more but, I cannot install malwarebytes or spyware doctor and system restore just seems to hang and not run even in safe mode.

Any advice would be appreciated, I cannot even use the infected PC to download or search or post on this forum, as there must be some BHO or proxy redirecting me at every turn.

HELP PLEASE, I have had to travel a 4 hour drive to get to this users location, as I couldn't do anything using terminal service and I will only be in this location today.

A:av360, cannot installe mbam or other cleaners

update

I was able to finally get malwarebytes installed. I also installed syware doctor and spyhunter, but both of them wanted me to purchase it before they would remove anything.

Once my antivirus (ca integrated threat manager, etrust antivirus and pest patrol) started running it found Win32/Alureon.TY, FakeAlert.H2, Win32/TSstealth.G

I had malwarebytes try to fix everything it found 12 objects, but on a reboot, spyware doctor found TDSServ in 53 registry keys, but wouldn't fix it without buying it

Any ideas to help get rid of this thing. I don't want it returning, there may be rootkits on this PC, is there a way to make sure I get it clean, without a format and re-install of the OS. I am not sure that I have that much time since I am out of town.

I have 2 identical drives in my computer. Prior to Windows 7, I had Vista 32 Ultimate installed on drive 1. Drive 2 was used a backup drive.

I have now installed Windows 7 64 on drive 2. To make absolutely sure I didnt screw up my vista installation I removed drive 1 with vista on it from my pc.

I got Windows 7 up and running with no problems on drive 2 by doing a clean install by reformatting the entire drive, then reconnected drive 1 with Vista 32 installed. I can easily control which one I boot up by changing boot order in CMOS. This was done instead of having multiple boot partitions on a single driver for a few different reasons.

With both drives in and booted up under Windows 7 64, I am trying to access the data files on Vista 32. Unfortunately I dont have a drive letter for the vista 32 drive. I went into disk management to give it a drive letter, but I get an error message when I select drive letter. See attached image.

I tried refreshing and trying again but keep getting same error.

Is it possible to access the Data on the other drive under a NTFS partition? I did set the folders I wanted to access as viewable by everyone. the problem is I cant get a drive letter to the disk.

Help ?

A:Problem Accessing Separate Drive with Vista 32 Installe

Welcome to the Se7enfourms! 1337Vader

Simply unplugging the data cable from the Vista drive would have been enough to prevent any detection and placement of 7 boot entries on the Vista drive there. Upon replugging in the drive for some reason 7 didn't mount it fully where you could assign a logical drive letter to it.

What you have to do now is intialize the Vista drive while in the Disk Management tool. When right clicking on the Vista drive item seen there you should see the option for that unless the drive is already initialized. Once that is done you will likely need to restart the system before you can assign a letter to it.

I do not have the money to go to a repair tech. Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi all:

I have a small VB program called "SysRestorePoint" that allows you to use "Scheduled Tasks" to create manual restore points for Windows XP SP-2.

I setup the new program in scheduled tasks and open the advanced settings once I'm finished to make sure that the "run only if logged in" option is checked so that the program will run. Once I have it set up, I do an "test run" to makes sure that it will create the manual restore point.

I can create a manual restore point itself by starting System Restore, but the SysRestorePoint program runs it automatically at a scheduled time. Whenever the program runs, however, from Scheduled Tasks it fails and I get a "provider load failure" from scheduled tasks. I have tried 10 or so third party programs, and whenever they run, I get the same "provider load failure" error message. As mentioned, I can create a manual restore point from within System Restore itself, but any attempt to schedule a restore point using any third party program fails. Any ideas?

Thanks;
Michael Priester

http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_sysrestorepoint.htmCould be file corruption...could be inappropriate version. For me, anytime I have problems with a particular program (not the O/S), I do the uninstall/reinstall routine and hope that solves. Seems to work many times.Looking up that error, it seems to me that it occurs in programs/instances where something is attempted and permissions issues arise. Not sure this is the case with you, but you can take a look at the instances (none of which point to your VB script): [post="http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=provider+load+failure&btnG=Google+Search"]Provider Load Error[/post] .Louis

Well, it first looked like a virus attack with CapsLock/NumLock/ScrollLock lights blinking on and off. One restart yields in "C:\Windows\System32\hal.dll" missing.
1. Tried to reinstall XP. After loading all necessary files (File System etc.), when it says "Windows is starting now" where I'd expect to start copying files - the blue screen appears "A problem has occurred and windows has been shut down.. STOP: 0x0000007B ( ..,...,...) "
2. I tried the BartPE live CD to laod,,but when the black screen of Windows loading appears(the scrolling bar below), it again freezes with same msg. I really didn't expect a LiveCD to fail.
3. Puppy Linux LiveCD luckily works. started the computer, saw all HDD data intact. In order to get rid of possible viruses, I deleted all the partitions of the disk.
4. Tried BartPE, Windows Setup again but the same blue screen persists. Even with an empty HDD, how can it be possible. There was no new devices plugged in as you may have remembered. it all started from normal regular computing and a seeming virus attack.
Can anyone please have any advise what can I do?

Please help moi,

The power source was disconnected from my computer while it was running so I think something happened to my hard drive and maybe windows got corrupt. It won't load windows but I can still access the BIOS when I restart it.

I hooked up the hard drive to another computer and ran an error-check on it and also degragmented it. The optimize for performance option was checked in the "Policies" tab when I checked the disk properties and it says power failure could corrupt the drive.

I've basically tried everything I can think of but nothing is working. Got any suggestions? I have a huge project I have to turn in this weekend and I'm in dire need of any help.

Note: I can't access safe mode because windows won't even load up. It'll only show Gateway. After that, all I see is a black screen.

This happened last night.

I switched the computer back on. It went into diagnosis/automatic repair modes, checked for disk errors & solutions saying it could take up to an hour. A minute late the machine reboots & offers a set of options.

'Restart' or 'Advanced options'.

'Restart' simply returns me to this screen.

'Advanced options' offers

'Continue' .. 'Exit and continue to Windows 8.1'

'Troubleshoot' .. Refresh or reset your PC, or use advanced tools

'Turn off your PC'

'Continue' returns me around again to 'Troubleshoot'

'Troubleshoot'' offers

'Refresh'.. 'If your PC isn't running well, you can refresh it without losing your files'

'Rest your PC' .. 'If you want to remove all over your files, you can reset your PC completely'

'Advanced Options' under which there is

'System Restore' .. 'Use a restore point recorded on your PC to restore Windows'

'System Image Recovery' .. 'Recover Windows using a specific image file

'Start up repair' .. 'Fix problems that keep Windows from loading'

'Command Prompt' .. 'Use the Command prompt for advanced troubleshooting'

and 'Start-Up Settings' .. Change Windows start up behaviour.

Attempting to load in Safe Mode fails & returns me to 'Troubleshoot'.

I don't have a system restore point or a system image or a recent back up otherwise. I didn't set up an administrator account. To top it off I also don't have the original Windows install disk, it didn't come in the box with the computer.

I recently bought Windows 7. Sometimes when I start my computer, the USB will not work at the login screen. No keyboard or mouse works.
If I get past the login, windows finds all my external hd's and starts to scan them. I think this is a problem with the USB.

Okay, so here's the deal. I had Windows Service Pack 2. Everything was just lovely, then I decided to FINALLY upgrade to Service Pack 3 because some high end Adobe products I was installing suggested it for better compatibility. Aiesh, so I took the plunge and tried to upgrade to Windows Service Pack 3. I was smart because of all the horror stories though and did a full backup up all my data including system state, etc. I set a system restore point, the whole nine yards. I upgraded with no problems but when the computer restarted it do so, got past POST, and the windows boot or load screen popped up with the loading bar. . . but windows never loaded! Hi sirdanceal0t,
I had a similar problem when Windows XP SP3 was released it was only designed for Intel processors, so if you have a AMD processor it will cause your system not to load, if you are running a AMD processor if i were you try and get back to the System Restore Point or if that fails reimage your pc and just before installing SP3 looks for the patch/fix for your processor model, then install SP3 and it should all be fine.

On the other hand if you have a Intel processor i woulldn't know what to advise.

Hello,

I've been having a problem for a week where my computer is very sluggish on startup. It will load some programs like Firefox - and once Firefox is loaded it runs fine, unless I'm streaming video then it noticeably sluggish - only with the video not the audio. Some programs will run but will take forever to load, some programs won't load at all like Steam or other games or programs that seem to take a lot of memory.

Also, when I reboot, everytime a program error occurs before shutdown that says ".Dll Failed to Initialize". Each time it is a different program, sometimes a program I tried to run, or sometimes just a startup program. I believe whatever is keeping the dll's to initialize must be the root of the problem.

I've ran Ccleaner, multiple registry cleaning programs, error sweeper, reinstalled KBD.exe, I even System Restored my system to FACTORY settings and this problem still persists. It may be malware but I've ran a few programs and they have not cured the problem. Anyone know what's up?

Right now I'm running a HP with WINXP / SP2 installed, Athlon XP 2800+, 767 RAM, Radeon 9800 PRO.

A:[SOLVED] WinXp Failure to Load Dll Files

Hi shagen and welcome to TSF !

What's the exact model of your HP computer ?

I can't see anything fishy in your HJT log so this has to be some regular software or hardware problem, especially if you reinstalled your system from scratch.

Quote:

I even System Restored my system to FACTORY settings

What do you exactly mean by that, what method did you use to restore the system to factory settings ? System restore is accessed by the start menu => all programs => accessories => system tools => system restore. It will allow you to restore the computer to some previous restore point (if Windows created any) but not to the factory settings.
Do you mean that you accessed the recovery utility at startup (before Windows loads) or booted on the CD that came with the computer to make a destructive recovery and restore the computer to factory defaults ? If you made a complete system recovery then the problem is not likely to be malware related.

Make sure that your computer is updated with all the latest critical updates from Windows update. Also check that you've installed all the latest drivers for your hardware.

What are your virtual memory settings ? Run the task manager by pressing ctrl+alt+del and go to the performances tab. Post a screenshot of what you see there. To post a screenshot press the printscreen (or prt scr) key on the keyboard, then go to start => all programs => accessories => paint, click edit =... Read more

Not sure if I have a virus or if its something else, but when I go on *any* website, including this one, I have to refresh it multiple times, and often, these errors come up:

On chrome:
ERR_QUIC_PROTOCOL_ERROR
ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR
If it doesn't do either of these two errors, it simply says "the network could not find a secure connection to the server" , has a completely blank white screen, or  just loads everything with texts, but no images.

On microsoft edge:
HTTP 403 error, microsoft edge can't get to this page. Go back to last page or try logging in again.

I built this computer https://pcpartpicker.com/b/bxjcCJ a while back and it has been giving me trouble a good amount of that time. I've finally decided to try diagnosing which hardware part or parts I need to replace. There are a couple basic problems which I believe are interrelated. One on windows it BSOD's a decent amount with SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION. Two it will also freeze sometimes(screen stops updating, hard drive light goes off though since I updated the BIOS the hardware light sometimes locks on). This happens on Window 7 and Linux(Sabayon). The only way I've found to fix this is a reboot, and that leads us to problem three. Sometimes it fails to boot. The after-POST beep never sounds and the hard drive light just flashes on for about a quarter of a second as you press the power button. The CPU Light on the motherboard stays on, meaning it is probably a CPU or motherboard problem I think. This only seems to happen when it is still hot from running as if I let it sit for 30 minutes or so it always comes on right away.

Here is some data from trials I ran.
Trial1: Idles at ~45C. Froze when running prime95 after about 30 seconds. CPU Temp 67C. Hard drive light turned off
Trial2: No crash after over an hour of prime95 averaging about 68C the whole time
BIOS Update to latest
Trial3: Freezed at 64C running prime95 about 30 seconds. Hard drive light stayed on
Trial4: Freezed at ~68C running prime95 about 2 minutes. Hard drive light stayed on.

Hi All,

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad Laptop, using it with Win7.

Recently, I experience an internet connection failure. It first connects to my home internet network, loads webpages perfectly. After a while, although it seems still connected it just cannot load the pages. If I wait like 5-10min, it works perfectly again. But after some time it fails and so on...

I suspect the problem was on my internet provider but I used my laptop in a friend's home and it happens there too.

This cycle repeats itself more frequently if there is another laptop in the apartment that connect to the same network I am connected.

Any idea how I can solve this problem? Please help.

My OS is an XP 2003 Professional and it has never had an automatic Windows priority update fail to install until now. The update is KB981793. I looked it up and it's basically a time update thingy for the computer, however, ever since the first failure to load it keeps loading in my icon tray, next to my clock, and tells me that updates are ready for my computer and it's continuously the same one that fails. So, no matter how many times I try to install it, 5 min. later it's back and I can't make it install or go away. My computer has all the current updates and SP3 is installed.
My second current problem, hopefully when you know what your doing, is an easy explanation and fix. I am now constantly getting an "IE Script Error" on practically every webpage I'm opening. Some pages I need to accept the run script button 2-10 times to clear all the Script Error pop-up that occurred on that page. I have a laptop (ProBook 4720s) with Windows 10 that started booting to a black screen and becoming non-responsive some days ago.
When I boot, I see the HP splash screen, then the Windows logo loading and then an unresponsive black screen without a cursor.
The only way I can turn off the computer is by holding the power button.
Sometimes it'll boot to a "Windows could not start correctly"-screen and I've tried that start-up repair, which couldn't solve it, I've tried System Restore to the latest point which failed twice and I've tried booting into Safe Mode with Network possibilities and then it froze while trying to enter the password.
The only thing that worked was just booting into Safe Mode, the computer worked perfectly fine then.
I've also tried booting with a HDMI cable connected to a TV to make sure it's not just outputting the video to the wrong place, still a black screen though.
Since the laptop doesn't really "support" Windows 10 (there aren't any drivers for the laptop from the official site for Windows 10), I've downloaded some of the Drivers from [here](http://www.driverscape.com/manufacturers/hp/laptops-desktops/hp-probook-4720s/1020).
As far as I know though I think I've only installed the drivers that were necessary to make the webcam and fingerprint scanner work, though the latter still doesn't function.
Do note though that the computer worked fine after installing these drivers, it was only after a month or 2 that this suddenly ... Read more

Hello

First of all, I thank you for your attention.

I cannot perform any "Windows update" issue since the 23/08/2016.

Each time I reach the "Windows Update" screen, I get the following error message :

In french : "Redémarrer l'ordinateur pour installer d'importantes mises à jour"

In english: "Restart the computer to install importante updates"

Then, after rebooting, nothing change.

After further investigations, I get the following error message:

In French : "windows update ne peut pas actuellement rechercher des mises à jour car vous devez tout d'abord redémarrer votre ordinateur afin de terminer l'installation précédente."

In English : "windows update cannot research update because you must first restart your computer in order to finish the previous installation".

Then, I've recreated a new catalog by executing these commands:

net stop wuauserv

ren %windir%\SoftwareDistribution SoftDist.old

net start wuauserv

Now all services are running but I still cannot perform updates.

Trying to fix my dad's PC that has been on the the decline for a few weeks. He had a tech dude look at it for a few hrs one night, couldn't fix it and said it was a virus or malware. I got a hold of it and have run a few bootable AV's to no avail ie. kaspersky, AVG, Hitman Pro.
The oldest issue I could find was the failure to update the .net framework 4.5.1 update for maybe 3 months. this had been tried multiple times.
I'm unsure what the cause is, any help would be appreciated, some of the symptoms that I can think of are;

Internet browser failure - Internet explorer will only get to a white screen then shut down and sometimes take the PC with it. Chrome (before I removed it) was loading, but giving the 'aww Snap' blue screen.
Windows Update is failing, mainly on the .net framework update - I tried resetting update with the same results.
User Account control is not functioning correctly - tried to create a new administrator account in case of corrupt user but the button to create new account is not responding.

There are some other issues but I think they mainly tie back to these primary failures. As a result of these failures I haven't been ab;e to get any solid programs installed to do any good. All installations come up with different faults, either "error 1719", or "invalid picture" or "windows installer not installed correctly".

Hi, in December 2015 I had serious overheating problems on my new HP ProBook 470 G2 when I upgraded to Windows 10. In the end, I went back to Windows 7 and all the problems were solved. With Microsoft now threatening to discontinue the free upgrade to Windows 10 by the end of July 2016, does anybody know if there was a bug fix on Windows 10 that solved the problem? I really would not like to go through all the pain again of upgrading, swearing for two weeks, and then restoring again!

Hi, I'm having some trouble getting Windows 10 installed properly: How did you guys even get the HP 4530s to get the right Display Drivers for Windows 10, it looks like HP still hasn't released updated drivers for the 4530s...  I have a ProBook 4530s running Windows 7 64bit Home edition. When I did the Windows 10 upgrade about a month ago, the installation appeared successful, but upon booting the computer, at the sign on screen (with the rocky beach picture with the ocean in the background) the screen would just flicker and not allow me to sign in or go past that point. So I went back to Windows 7. It appears to be a display driver issue but I see that HP has not released any display drivers for Windows 10 for the ProBook 4530s. Even if I had the driver's ready on an external flash drive or something, how am I supposed to install them if the screen keeps flickering and not allowing me to get to the desktop. I have also hooked up an external monitor and the same thing happens...  How do I get the proper drivers installed -especially Display and Wireless Networking drivers,,,,before doing the upgrade attempt again to Windows 10? Thanks for any help you can provide!

Which suggested not let me install it. I have also installed other drivers windows 8 and I updated with the manufacturer (Intel and AMD) the graphics cards and some other that windows update has recommended me. Anyway still taking 1 min 30 sec to start, as there are 2 devices that are not recognized and for which no drivers. And the Atheros bluetooth driver gives a problem. HP, please release drivers for these three devices soon. While upgrading my ProBook 4520s from Windows 7 pro 64 to Windows 10 pro 64 the laptop froze. It appears that it was caused by the Ralink RT3090 wifi chip driver that comes with Windows 10. I have replaced it with another driver and the upgrade worked fine. The procedure I followed was as follows: - Disable the wifi/bluetooth combo in the BIOS settings. - Goto control panel - Windows upgrade and start the listed Windows 10 upgrade- After Windows 10 has been installed, download the Ralink RT3090 driver from: http://mediatek.com/en/downloads1/downloads/pcimpcicbrt2860rt2760rt2890/ fill in a name, email address and the captcha to start the download of the driver package. Note that Mediatek bought Ralink a few years ago so this site is from the manufacturer or the Ralink RT3090 wifi chip used in the laptop. - Unpack the driver package in a folder.- Select Windows key + R, enter msconfig and run it- Select to start Windows 10 in safe mode after the next boot - Select to reboot the PC- When the PC restarts but before Windows 10 starts up, enter the BIOS settings by pressing escape- Enable the wifi/bluetooth combo in the BIOS settings- Save the BIOS settings and exit- Windows will start in safe mode- Install the new driver by running setup.exe in the folder where the driver package was unpacked- Select Windows key + R and enter msconfig and configure to start Windows normally after the next boot- Reboot It appears that the ProBook 4520s c... I have a customer that ive done a fresh install of windows 10 on a new hard drive for.  On windows 7, there is no issue with battery charging (new battery, new charger)  but when I swap the drive and boot windows 10, the battery reports as plugged in not charging.  Usually around 96%.   If the charger is unplugged, let the battery die down to 5% or so, then plug charger back in, it charges fine, goes to 100%, then after awhile it says the same thing, plugged in not charging.  (which i see as normal, but pretty sure the hp power mgmt software would report it as still plugged in and charging, try explaining to a customer when they see something as what they think is a problem..)There is no hp peak power manager for windows 10, only windows 7 and 8.1.  The windows 7 or 8.1 version will not install on windows 10.  Tried in compatibility mode for every version of windows known to man.  Anyone know if there is an HP version of power management software tuned for windows 10 floating around somewhere, maybe for a different laptop?  Thank you.

Two things you can try, if you haven't done so already.
1) Use a System Restore Point to restore your laptop to time when it was functioniong properly
2) Run the System File Checker to see if it can fix the problem, by opening a command prompt with admininstrative priviliges and type sfc /scannow, making sure to keep a space between sfc and /scannow.

ankush2 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!I read your post about needing Win10 drivers for your laptop and wanted to help. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the problem you're up against is that Microsoft only supplies drivers with the most basic functionality, and what you really need for FULL functionality in laptops is the specialized drivers written for the specific hardware found in laptops -- and unfortunately, there are no HP Win10 drivers for your laptop. However, for MS-supplied drivers that aren't working well, you could consider using HP Win8 drivers -- although there's no guarantee that those drivers will work.  Here's the link to the HP Product drivers and software page for Win8 for your PC:  http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5060881&lang=en&cc=usWhen that page opens, select Windows 8x using the operating system pulldown. You might have to install the drivers using compatibility mode: http://www.windows10forums.com/articles/compatibility-mode.7/Good Luck

I have a small number of these laptops that were recently upgraded to Windows 10. The sound driver works but for some unknown reason when connecting a Bluetooth audio device or changing the audio settings the laptop speakers dissappear from the available options in playback devices as does the mic in recording devices. The driver appears to be working and does not have any event's logged when it happens. Re-installing the driver gets it working again but it soon dissappears and needs to be done over again. The audio definitely works and has been tested. I beleive this is possibly a driver issue since I have the same problem on multiple units.
