Hi, Try the following. First of all, use another PC to create a bootable Windows 10 DVD or USB Flash Drive via the following link.  Under the section 'Need to create a USB, DVD or ISO', download the Media Creation Tool. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 Once you have this, run the tool, select 'Create installation media for another PC', then select the language, edition of Windows 10, and 64bit. Follow the rest of the prompts to create this and then click Finish when completed. Insert the Windows 10 Installation Media and Shutdown the notebook by holding down the power button for 10 seconds. Tap away at the esc key as soon as you press the power button to enter the Start-up Menu and then select the Boot Options Menu ( f9 ). Use the arrow keys to highlight the CDROM (uefi) or USB Flash Driver ( uefi ) option, depending on which type of media you created, then hit enter - if prompted to 'Press any key to continue....' - do so. Boot to the Advanced Start-up Options Menu - see Option 5 on the link below for details on accessing this. http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2294-advanced-startup-options-boot-windows-10-a.html#option5 Then try running Windows System Restore to return the notebook to a point in time before this issue occurred - See Option 1 on the link below for details on this procedure. http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/4588-system-restore-windows-10-a.html Regards, DP-... I originally experienced some issues with credit card fraud and though I would hard reset my computer to clear it of any of my personal information. Upon the two reset attempts, they both failed but, after the third try, is when this issue occurred. I tried to do a diagnostic test but, it said attempting to repair, I left it overnight, and it never fixed. I tried removing the battery and charger , pressing the power button for 10 seconds then plugging it back in and turning it on because I realized this worked for other people but, it didn't not work for me. Hello Sir,
Please guide me through the process of changing Administrator Password of Windows 2000 Server (Where SQL 2000 Server is running having Mixed mode Authentication, with blank SA password). I have once changed it from logon screen (by pressing ctrl+alt+del). But after that my SQL server stopped running (I had blank password for SQL). I couldnot fix the error.

Please tell me both the process, to be followed, while changing Windows 2000 Server password, when the SA password of SQL is (1) Blank (2) is not Blank. Please tell me is there any step to be taken in SQL 2000 Server, after changing the password of the Windows 2000 Server Administrastor?

I'm setting up a server at work and I really don't know the ins and outs of security settings etc.. So this is a pet project of mine.

Basically, I want any computer (regardless of network name) to be able to access a share, but be prompted for a user name and password to open the directory.

Usually (it would seem), Windows 2000 just plain old denies access to anyone who does not have user account ont he server. If I can get it to prompt for a user name /pass before this, then that will serve my purposes quite nicely.

A:Ask users for login/pass to access network shares in Windows 2000?

I believe the NET command in XP/2k permits passing a username/login.

Also, when mapping a network drive to a network share, you have the option of putting in a user/pass.

Hi, There is a general policy on the Forum not to provide methods to bypass Windows log-on passwords, however a local computer shop would be able to do this for you. Another option, if all your personal data etc is backed-up, would be to reset the notebook to its 'Factory Condition' and then set it up from the beginning ? if you don?t have your Recovery Media, the notebook will have shipped with a Recovery Partition which can be accessed at boot - ie shutdown the notebook, then start tapping away at f11 as soon as you power on. A full guide on this can be found on the following link. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01867418 Regards, DP-K

Hi All,
I tested the following attacks in Microsoft Advanced Threat Analytics and found them
not to be working.

Bruteforce Attack Pass-The-Ticket Pass-The-Hash Sensitive account exposed Using Plain-Text Authentication
I have tested other attacks like Reconnaissance
using DNS, Broken Trust, Honey Token account suspicious activities but they are working perfectly fine. I don't know
what's the issue with the above 4.
For
1. Bruteforce Attack:
I used thc-hydra-windows and triggered a dictionary attack using a list of passwords.

2. Pass-The-Ticket:
I used mimikatz to steal the kerberos ticket from a PC on which Admin is logged on. Impersonating an attacker, I copied the .kirbi file and Injected that file(using mimikatz again) to another PC on which a domain user is logged in.

3. Pass-The-Hash:
(Same as above)
4. Sensitive account exposed in plain text authentication:
I used mimikatz command 'sekurlsa :: logonpasswords' and was able to get passwords of all the users who logged on to that PC. But this was also not detected by MATA.

Please help me with the above issues. If possible, provide the tools using which I can trigger and detect those attacks.
Regards

Don't go for a password. Use the PIN option That's just what you need and it's really a great thing as well.

My PC keeps flashing on alot of the pages, Im running Norton security and Malware Bytes, and nothing has been found. I need to find a way to restore this back to the way it was when i bought it.  bought in 2013 , and it had windows 8 , 64 bit.  Thank you  Dee33

A:HP 2000 Notebook PC

Dee33 If you did the Win10 Upgrade and are now trying to revert back to Wion8, I have some bad news for you. While Microsoft tells you that there is no risk in the Win10 Upgrade, because they let you believe that you can always revert back to your original OS and setup within 30 days, the ugly fact of the matter is that the Win10 GoBack function has proven to be unreliable -- and when it fails, it can leave machines in a corrupted state -- which doesn't always happen, but it does happen often enough to be a problem and you won't get any warning in advance that it is going to trash your PC!The Win10 Upgrade is know, in some cases, to corrupt the Recovery partition stored there by the OEM that built the original machine.  This pretty much guarantees that no HP Recovery is going to work. So, any attempt to use F11 to do a restore is doomed to failure. Are you trying to use the Recovery Disks, by booting from the first one, and they are not working? If so, what is happening when you try to use them? We can proceed once you provide the information. Thanks

Hi, Try to run a diagnostic test Turn your computer offthen turn it back on and keep on tapping on ESCLook for Diagnostics F2Look for component test, Hard drive test, then click quick check then run once. It will then check your computer's hard drive. After the test it should give you a result if the hard drive pass or fail with a failure id number If the computer pass. Try running malwarebytes to your computer (I know that the antivirus of your computer is updated but we wanted to check if there are virus infection present) Try downloading bios update. Please refer here on how to install the bios update http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/randomly-shuts-down/m-p/5603375... Note: Please disable your computer's log in password just to make sure you won't encounter any locked up issues after bios update by going to  RUN then type netplwiz then uncheck the box click apply then enter your password and re enter it (Just dont mind the user)

When requesting assistance, please provide the complete model name and/or product number of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq makes thousands of models of computers. Without this information it may be difficult or impossible to assist you in resolving your issue. The above requested information can be found on the bottom of your computer or inside the battery compartment. Please do not include your serial number.  It will be necessary to set the SATA settings in BIOS to IDE mode. My girlfriend's laptop is an HP 2000 Notebook PC, bought second-hand. It's only BSOD'd twice now, and each time it says BAD_POOL_HEADER. I've checked all the drives on the computer and they're all up to date. I'm not sure what causes this? If anyone could give me some insight it would be greatly appreciated.

I am downgrading this notebook for a friend and I am unable to get any of the drivers for the network to install properly. I nave zero connectivity either through the wireless connection or ethernet connection. I have seen several posts regarding this issue, however, the links to the drivers only take me to the main HP support page.  I have tried downloading the drivers suggested by HP however, when installed on the PC I get the error message stating "The program might not have been installed properaly". I have tried several of the ralink drivers (secifially the 802.11b/g/n WLAN driver) with no success.   Any help would be much appreciated!!

Hello

First:
My BIOS does not support booting from a USB device
The Notebook does NOT have a CD-ROM
I am able to access a USB CD-ROM with a bootdisk
I've created 3 partitions, but only the second partition is working, because the harddisk is corrupt
The partion is 7GB large and has the letter D

The Problems I've encountered:
I tried to start the ..\I386\winnt.exe but the setup doesn't see my Harddrive. Windows is unable to locate a appropriate drive with enough space.
Same as above happens when I run the winnt from the harddisk
The setup doesn't start at all when there is no CD-ROM driver loaded, so I cannot just use simple bootdisks
Well, what can I do?? I'd like to load the USB drivers during the bootsetup(using 4 bootdisk) but I do not know how. Does anyone have a idea how to get this installation going?
Thank you

Bye

A:Getting a new hp notebook. 1500-2000 budget. Need some help :)

Hey Zizou I am actually in the exact same boat as you right now. I'm looking for a sub 2k notebook. Here are a few things you might find useful that I did:

The Centrino's have just gone through a yearly hardware refresh called Santa Rosa. Since these are brand new Centrino's not all the notebooks that will use them are avaliable yet. By around the end of June though, they should all be pretty much on the market. I'd really suggest waiting until at least then before you upgrade.

Now the mods here may kill me for this, but I found notebookreview.com and specifically their What notebook should I buy? section to be very helpful.

Personally I'm leaning towards getting a Compal IFL90 barebones and customizing it with powernotebooks.com. Here's the deal i was able to get on their site:

Last week I purchased an HP 2000 notebook with windows 8 installed I now wish to return and upgrade for a model with a faster processor. I only have a very few personal items on it such as my email address, windows password administrator details and log in passwords on a couple of apps. Therefore I am considering doing a factory reset to remove my personal information and any passwords I have installed. There is no windows key on the notebook itself. In the windows information there is a product ID number which I do not think is the windows key and another which seems to be it but consists of some asterisks and just the last five letters of a key therefore, I am uncertain about what I need to do.I am not very good with computers but as far as I can ascertain I need to do a factory reset via the HP repair software and not any other way.Any advice as to how I should proceed and what precautions I should take would be most welcome (I have watched the specific HP video on this proceedure, maybe I'm just stupid but I found it only added to my confusion).Don

My laptop probably suffered some damage within the couple years that I have had it but never had any running problems with my baby. I recently went to turn my computer on and the screen stayed black. The fan is still running and LED lights are still lit so I do not know what the problem is. I think it could be the monitor but I do not have an external monitor to test it on. I know that I am running on the Windows 10 OS but I  am not sure if it is 32-bit or 64-bit

Try a hard reset.  http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01684768 Without an external monitor it is going to be hard to test if it is the screen panel. Do you see the hard drive light blinking like there is activity? Do you hear sounds? Can you get into the BIOS (F10) or diagnostics (F2) as you power up?

Merry Christmas

I hope someone can help. I have a copy of win2000 upgrade that I used to upgrade a brand new HP notebook PC from Windows ME to Win2000 (upgrade). Everything looks good except 2 things:

When it checked for win2000 compatibility with loaded software (I was just from the factory), it identified that 2000 was not compatible with any of the Windows Works programs that were pre-loaded. (that was fine as I have office xp I'm going to use). When I boot up the computer, I get an error message box saying:
WKSCal.exe -unable to locate DLL
The dynamic link library MSVCP60.DLL could not be found in specified path (.....yada-yada)
Question 1- how can I get that error message to go away for good since I don't need to ever use that file.

Question 2- win2000 shrank the screen display of the windows desktop, it doesn't fill the whole screen. It is shrunk on all 4 sides aproximately 20%. I have adjusted the screen resolution in the control panel/display/settings to the more setting and it does not help. The other parts of the screen are black and acts like the monitor is small.

I appreciate anyone's help on this. Thanks.

Currently my notebook has the standard 4GB of memory using the HP provided Hynix HMT451S6AFR8A SoDIMM, 12800 DDR3L-1600, 1.35V. I have been looking to replace it with either Kingston HyperX, HX316LS9IB2_8, DDR3L-1600 (2x4GB) kit or the Crucial Ballistix Sport CT6278900, DDR3L-1600 (2x4GB) kit. Both have 9-9-9 timings. My question is will the memory with lower timings and the density of the chips work on my HP 2000-2d37cl notebook with an AMD A6-5200 CPU? Also I was curious about postings in the forums where persons had lost the Admin or other passwords on theirHP 2000 notebooks or they purchased a used notebook that had a unknown password. They provide the codes from the error on screen and the reply's from techs allowed them to get past this and reset their systems. I hope I never have that problem, however where exactly are the techs getting the codes from? I don't know why but our computer store had recommended using Windows 2000 Administrator setting all the time to make things easier for us. I just read the small start up guide and it highly recommends not doing this as you are putting your computer at a major security risk. I do use some file sharing programs like WinMX and I understand if I don't use the Administrator setting, I can't use the program. I guess I would prefer security over being able to use the WinMX program but I guess I can't have both.

Can anyone tell me if I should be quickly setting up the Power user settings and stop using Administrator and why there is so much risk, the manual doesn't get specific.

I suspect that is why we are getting hacked into so often!

A:What is the problem in using Windows 2000 Administrator setting all the time?

The issue is that if you are hacked, the priviledge level of the current user is usually all the hacker gets. Therefore, it is recommended that you use a basic user account as often as possible. If you need to launch a program with admin rights, then use the SU feature (switch user) to launch that program with the admin account. It is also recommended that you rename the admin account and then create a new administrator account that has no rights. That way if a hacker finds the user accounts and passwords, they will naturally try the administrator account first. Hope this helps straighten out the issue.

A:internal microphone on HP 2000 notebook laptop not working

Hello maggie75. I understand that you're having some problems with your microphone. You should try recording audio in another application so that you can determine whether this is an issue with the application or the microphone. Try the following.Click Start, type "sound recorder," and press Enter. This opens the Sound Recorder application.Attempt to record sound.Verify whether or not you hear sound.Post the result.Also. you may need to update some software. If this is the case it will be helpful to have your product number. This document can show you where it is located for me.I will await the result of this. I hope you have a great day!

My computer was hacked October 30 2015. i believe it happened when i opened an email to upgrade to windows 10. At that time my computer was turned into a server and a network manager took over. Whilst doing so this person had deleted my recovery partition. Its taken almost a year to figure this out due to the fact i do not know a **bleep** thing about computers. So here is my question: How do i get the recovery disk? I cant find it anywhere on HP website.

I have a dv6t with the i7  720m processory from about 3 yrs ago build. I think it has clarksfield processor. I have a 2 x 2 gig installed for total of 4gig now from the original build.   I am wondering (assuming Win  7 64 bit home premium which supports up to 16gig), will this laptop only support 8gig?  I ran a tool and it has a reference of Logical/Chipset memory banks  maximum memory installable of 32gig and a reference to Computer memory controller Max installable memory of 8gig.  So what gives? Will the laptop support 2x8gig memory sticks or just 2x4gig memory sticks?  The DV6T 2000 CTO Entertainment laptop.  If it supports 16 gig, I would like to just buy one of the 8gig rather than 2x4gig sticks. And maybe try to use one of the 2 gigs with the 8gig giving me 10gig for now...or just wait to see if I need a 2nd 8gig.  And will a bios upgrade support the 16 gig?

A:DV6T 2000 CTO Entertainment Notebook with i7 72QM processor...

I figured I would update my own question with the truth and working answer which hopefully helps anyone else that stubmles into this.  But in a nutshell the DV6t 2000 CTO models one could order about 2009 DO DO DO support 16gig and NOT just 8 gig. I have 2 slots. I have the 720QM quad first edition, yes first edition. Both Intel site and Memory checker sites are WRONG!  The saying was 1st gen cpu quads do not support more than 2x4gig=8gigs.  In fact one of my tools suggests I can put in up to 32gig assuming I can find 2 x 16gig memory sticks that I don't even think exist yet for general sale let alone affordability. Spread the word as hopefully this will help others. I bought memory at egghead and figured I would chance it since I read several reviews and comments in various locations suggesting they tried 16gig and indeed it worked for the 720QM processor.  I did not have to update my BIOS that HP last suggested I install circa 2010ish as opposed to the 4 or so that are available today for my model but I think were updated to support other things my model did not require. I ran memory tests too in 5 iterations without issue and in fact it booted right away with no problems with WIN 7 home premium recognizing the sticks. I also checked the CPU64z tool  tab for memory.
