X1 Yoga (and Yoga 260) not waking from sleep

Q: X1 Yoga (and Yoga 260) not waking from sleep

Hello, we got 2x Try-and-Buy Lenovo Yoga Tablet Laptops (an X1 Yoga and a Yoga 260) to evaluate their suitability for our company, since we intend to upgrade several of our employees laptops. However, ever since we got the devices we noticed on both of them frequent issues with the display and waking from sleep. Very often the laptops won't wake up properly with the screen staying black. In those cases the display-backlight seems to turn on, and I assume the system is running somehow in the background. Putting the computer to sleep again (e.g. by closing the lid) makes the computer wake up properly on the second attempt. Different error in the same category is when a video is running and the laptop is connected to AC - plugging out the AC cord made the screen go black while the media content's sound kept playing. All drivers were updated to the newest version via Lenovo System Update 5.07.0029. Any ideas? I also tried to open a support ticket, but Lenovo wanted to send and install a new display (!). Apparently, that seems like a driver/software issue?! Best regards

I had posted about this near the start of 2016 and then a BIOS update was released to fix the issue. The Yoga 900 wakes up from sleep when picked up and rotated. Previously, the issue was with the screen hitting the buttons and waking the laptop up. Now, I think it might have to do with rotating it when it is asleep. I do not have this problem if I rotate the laptop as it is going to sleep, only if I pick it up after it has gone to sleep. I have been having this issue since the last BIOS update was released. Is there some way to fix this problem? If not, can an update be released to fix the issue? If I need to clarify something about the problem, please let me know.

Hello, I know there have been BIOS updates in the past to address this issue, but my laptop still occassionally wakes from sleep with the lid closed. Is anyone else having this issue? If not, is there a setting I may be looking over that would fix this problem?

I have an issue with my Thinkpad Yoga (20CD). Sometimes after I have left my Yoga unattended. I come back and find that it's on (red light on) but screen is black, but nothing happends when moving mouse or pressing keys. I believe this is happens with regards to sleep mode. I still have some analysis to do wether it happens when power is connected or not, external monitor is connected or not. I have installed all the latest drivers from lenovos website.

A:Thinkpad Yoga, not waking up after sleep

I have a new ThinkPad Yoga and when it is running on battery power if the screen goes to sleep after five minutes it will not wake up.  I can press the power button and see the LED above the I flash slowly flash like it is in sleep mode but if I try to wake it up the screen will not come back on.  I am forced to press and hold the power button to force shut it down and them power it back on.  Has anyone else seen this issue?  I am currently going to download the Intel version of the HD video driver and see if that fixes the problem.

I have a Y2P which I upgraded to Windows 10 a few months ago.  I have updated all the drivers and the BIOS, done the registry fix for the DPTF driver discussed here to fix degraded performance in non-laptop mode, and turned off adaptive brightness.  Most of my use is plugged in with the machine in stand mode, with a second monitor and BT mouse and BT keyboard. After doing the DPTF driver fix, I noticed that a few times when I was away from my desk, the machine rebooted spontaneously due to a critical error which seemed to be from overheating, so I set the power mode to sleep after 10 minutes idle.  Most of the time, now, it has no difficulty waking up.  But so far twice when I have woken the machine, the primary monitor is off, and can't be found by any setting or control panel, and the auxilliary monitor behaves as though it is the primary one.  This can be fixed by rebooting or by unplugging the second monitor, and then plugging it in again. Also, a couple of times now, when the machine wakes, the primary monitor is very dim.  The first time it happened, I went into settings and made it brighter.  But when it happened today, despite my increasing brightness to 100% (through the keyboard, through the display settings, through whatever I could find) the screen stayed very dim.  I finally rebooted, and the screen returned to normal. Does anyone have any suggestions for keeping these things from happenin... Hello All, I have an issue with my YOGA 700 laptop when logged in multiple accounts simultaneously. Whenever an account is left logged on and the user is switched as opposed to logging off, the cpu usage ramps up very high with several RUNDLL32 processes being the culprit. I have checked the RUNDLL32 processes with Process Explorer and the command line are as follows:C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe C:\ProgramData\LenovoTransition\Server\x64\EnableAutoRotation.dll,RunCustomMonitor The directory is as follows: C:\ProgramData\LenovoTransition\Server\x64\ The only solution I have found is restarting the laptop. The problems comes back when again more than one user is logged in. Also, the rundll32 processes only run high cpu on one account at a time and there doesn't seem to be a preference for a specific account, all of them are plagued one at a time with the problem. Disabling the Yoga Mode Control service is a fix but that breaks the mode control which is essential in this laptop. I have tried installing all the available software on the Software page foor the YOGA 700. The rundll32 processes drain the battery very fast and I can't always log off other users when they have apps open!  I have posted a screenshot of process explorer showing 2 rundll32.exe processes using 25% cpu usage each. However, sometimes up to 4 rundll32.exe processes open up and they use combined 100% cpu usage, which makes the laptop run very hot and slow. In t... Read more

Hey guys, I'm a PreMed student who's life revolves around his laptop. I'm always on social media, watching some show, listening to music, doing an essay, taking notes, updating some website, or emailing some person on campus. Of course, my old laptop broke. It was a Dell Inspiron. Now, I have a campus job and have been saving money(so money is not factor necessarily). After researching my options, I've narrowed my choices down to the three previously listed laptops. I just want to know which do you guys suggest and why?

A:Surface Book vs Lenovo Yoga 900 vs ThinkPad X1 Yoga

By looking at your requirement, you prefer on-the-go PC that lets you do all that on a decent budget, SP4 is better than SB(if you want lightweight device and decent battery life), Lenovo's are pretty good too. X1 w/o OLED seems to be a better buy in terms of ultraportability and battery life. You could wait for others to chime in.

In the past 2 days, my new Yoga 14 has gone to sleep while in use. If I check the event log, the sleep reason is button or lid. I've got about 2 weeks left on the return window and will probably return if I can't find a solution for this.

Hi all, Facts :Last august 30th, I ordered a Lenovo Yoga 3 14 (i5 / 8 / 256) from Amazon. It's been delivered one week ago (02/09/15).Two days ago (monday), I installed Kaspersky antivirus, downloaded the files for Windows 10, closed the screen and it went to sleep...And never woke up again ! I tried any and every keys / switches combo I thought of (power switch w/o volume switchs + and -, Novo switch, function keys, Ctrl/alt/ del, ctrl/shift/esc, escape, spacebar, enter... Right now, the power led is still on, the PC runs on battery and I'm waiting for it to run out of charge.I can hear and feel a very tiny ventilation from the back. The USB ports are active since my phone and an external HDD are plugged in them. The keyboard doesn't respond or enlight itself anymore. Despite all my tryings, I get no sound from the speakers... So I hope I will be able to reboot it and find a suitable solution (BIOS, driver update ?).The Yoga is new (one week old) and I'm yet already struggling to bring it back to life !!!!! Question :Is there any way to manually shut down the computer (the power switch for 60 sec doesn't work, the battery can't be taken out, no reset pin hole...) ? LENOVO, please HELP !!!!!I was so happy of this computer, don't let yous customer down. PS : As soon as the battery turns off, I'll try to save the PC and let you know how it goes.Sadly, I'm already considering to turn it back.

I've had the problem where the Yoga 3 won't turn back on.   Fully charged, power cable in and out, even tried the hold down the power button for 10, 20, 30 and 60 seconds. Disconnected the battery, ran off power cord and ran every virus/system check.  Put everything back together and everything works fine.... for a day or so, then same problem. Thoughts? Is this a function of coming back from sleep, i.e. can I work around this by never letting it go to sleep?  Would replacing the battery fix the issue (and if so which battery should I get?) Sean

I've has a history of sleep issues on my yoga 3 pro that came with Windows 10. Short History-------------1) Work properly for a few months after purchase2) The issue started (Laptop starts sleep process, screen goes blank, keyboard stays lighted, power stays lighted. It never goes to sleep, I cannot wake it, and need to hold the power button down for 10 seconds (i.e. kill power entirely))3) After many driver updates I still had the problem. I can only assume a Windows update started the issue but who knows.4) I noticed a BIOS update from Lenovo the other day so I gave that a shot. I was at version ***56*** and it was ***58****. It fixed the issue!5) Received Windows Update (Build 1607, Anniversary update) and now the problem is back. I've disabled sleep entirely as my current solution, but would like sleep to function as intended. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix? Does anyone know the root cause? Thanks

I just spent the last 30 minutes searching for this issue and can't seem to find anyone else who is having this problem.  The issue I'm having is that whenever I flip the lid to go into tablet mode, the machine seems to go into sleep or hibernate.  It doesn't do it 100% of the time, but it will always do it when I really need to go into OneNote to take some quick notes but instead waste time having to flip it around again, log in, and flip back into tablet mode a second time.  Occasionally, it will shut down completely instead of going to sleep, or resume but with a blank screen, forcing me to manually power it off by holding the power button, but these occurances aren't nearly as frequent as it going into sleep.  Another thing I noted is that when it resumes from the sleep mode it goes into, sometimes the Lenovo Battery Guage will show up with a red X, as though a battery isn't detected.  I find it odd because the machine functions just fine on battery.  If I plug in the AC power in this state, it will recognize the AC power as plugged in, but the battery gauge's status of "no battery" does not change.  If I open the battery app, it properly detects the battery and its charge level.   Things I have done to attempt resolution:* Disable all sleep/hibernate mode options in Windows Power Manager* Checked all applicable settings in the Lenovo Settings app* Ensure system was up to date with all Windows Updates, as well as... A:X1 Yoga going to sleep after flipping lid

I guess I've come up with a diagnosis and a partial solution.   The problem apparently was the computer constantly failing to see the battery installed.  It would randomly detect the battery as not being installed, even when I was on battery and the machine stayed on just fine.  The battery has been functioning perfectly in the sense that I could operate off of AC power without issue, but the Power Gauge would show no battery being detected, then eventually it would come back and be fine, showing the proper charge level.   The reason the machine kept "turning off", or in this case Hibernating, was because Windows is set to either go to Sleep or Hiberate when it reaches the "Critical battery action" percentage in the Power Manager.  Because the battery would no longer be detected, the "Critical battery action" would kick in because it would think the battery is completely out of juice.  Unfortunately, Windows does not allow you to set this action to "Do nothing", offering only the options of "Sleep" or "Hibernate".   The partial solution:I followed a procedure I found for another model.  It involved the following steps: 1) Go into the BIOS2) Disable the battery3) Shut down machine and disconnect the battery4) Plug in AC power and boot into the OS5) Shut down the machine, disconnect AC, and press the power button 10 times6) Reconnect the battery and AC and boot into Windows So far, after doing that proce... I have two staff members with different Yoga models, but with the same pen issue. Say, for instance, OneNote is open. The pen doesn't draw or write, but it can select and still be recognized. When I try using an old stylus from an HP Elitebook, it works TOTALLY fine - even the button on the pen functions properly. This suddenly started after months of the Lenovo pens working fine. I thought maybe it was a driver issue, but it can't be as the HP pen works.... I'm thinking it's the pen itself just getting worn down? It looks okay though but may be just a little loose... I've always used sleep mode at night and quite frankly most of the time instead of shutting down my yoga. I know thats not good after reading some here but wanted to share history in case that has something to do with problem.Typically at night or when leaving office or just going to be off computer for a while I'll close the lid (which is set for sleep mode) and when I return I open it up, enter my password and I'm right where i left off. I have multiple spreadsheets or power points open so it's easier than shutting those down every time or even at night. But since yesterday, when I open it back up, it has shut down and has to start up from "off" vs sleep. All things open have to be recovered (xls, docs, ppt, etc) and chrome says it has shut down unexpectedly and asks if I want to restore tabs, etc. What is causing this change and how can I troubleshoot it and fix it?Help much appreciated.

Can you try checking under

Control Panel / Hardware and sound / Power Option
Click on change plan settings on your selected Power Plan
Click on change advanced settings

Now on this window look for Sleep and open it up.
Look for "Allow hybrid sleep"
Make sure that it is on and save changes

Check and let me know if that works.

I want to demonstrate aproblem I have had with my Yoga 900 to see if others have had similar issues. I discovered this when I put my Yoga, (which was asleep) in my backpack, and then later noticed it was awake. It took me a while to figure out what was happening, but I finally determined that it had nothing to do with the backpack. My Yoga 900 would wake up when picked up by the short edge (as I did to put it n my backpack). You can see this in the video:Yoga 900 Waking when pickedup (BTW -- I am not squeezing the laptop, I am just holding it as needed to pick it up by the edge. This does press down on the lid and there is upward pressure on the bottom. It is the pressure on the cover that seems to be the cause of the laptop waking) Note that Lenovo has been great, and is sending me a replacement laptop. But I am curious if others see this same problem. Is this a common Yoga 900 Issue?

Hi, Sometimes when I close the lid off my Yoga 260 Windows 10 are not going to sleep. The behaviour is really weird because the red light on the lid is blinking like when it's in sleep mode, but I can hear the rotating fan. When I open the lid it's even weirder. Windows are not locked and I am not prompt for a password. The whole system is very laggy. The mouse is moving in jumps and there is not any response to keyboard or screen touch. After few seconds/minutes the system is suddenly OK like nothing happend. This is not happening all the time and I was not able to see any pattern when this happens. What should I do to get rid of this? Thx for help.

My 14" Yoga (non-pro) seems to jump out of sleep mode whenever I put it into sleep mode. This even happens when the Yoga has been folded up and put in by bag, giving a high chance of damaging the laptop or even causing other kinds of damage. Currently I'm working around it by putting it into Hibernate (which, I admit, is also pretty fast). But that's obviously not a nice workaround. Does anybody know how to fix this? I tried to find out what causes the event but the system logs are rather strange: I do get: The system has returned from a low power state.Sleep Time: ?2016?-?07?-?23T21:07:12.012475900ZWake Time: ?2016?-?07?-?23T21:07:21.793067400ZWake Source: Power Button But I certainly haven't touched the power button, and it seem to be working fine otherwise.

I've been experiencing a lot of weird quirks with my Yoga 2, and I'm not sure whether Windows 8.1, my specific combination or drivers, or a hardware issue is to blame.  The most consistent, and annoying issue, is the laptop constantly freezes after putting it to sleep.  It is almost transparent -- I never see the blue screen, because I've already closed the laptop.  I just open it up, the Lenovo logo pops up, and it turns out my computer has rebooted.  The windows event log confirms that a critical error has occurred. I've performed a factory reset and it still occurs.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?

A:Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro Freezing after sleep

Hi,I have the same problem with my yoga 2 pro. I've tried to find solutions but none of them work for me. My best guess is that the new hardware have compatibility issues with windows 8.1. My spec is i7 4500 8GB RAM 256GB SSDBTW, you can avoid this frustration by disable Sleep mode. I use Hybernate mode for both my power botton and lid-close actions. Setting are in Power Options.I hope Lenovo take this seriously, it's a shame that we have to experience all this. Don't they care about branding?

Hi everybody. This is just a public service message regarding an issue I've encountered. I've found that my Yoga 900 does not "wake up" after it has gone to sleep while connected to an external monitor. I'm connected to an HP 27VX monitor through a USB Type C to HDMI adapter. I found that my Yoga wakes up without issue if the display has turned off (power options turn off display settings) but it doesn't wake up if it goes to sleep when connected to the monitor. The issue though is not that it doesn't wake up, the issue is that for some reason when connected to the monitor it never truly goes to sleep (slow blinking white light). I think it gets hung up somehow when trying to go to sleep. When it enters this mode the power light is solid white and the only fix is to power cycle the Yoga. I'm not sure why it won't successfully go to sleep when connected to a monitor but my guess is some type of driver/hardware issue between the USB type C, HDMI adapter, and the monitor. I've verified that all works as intened when I'm not connected to the monitor. My workaround is to go to power options and turn my sleep option (when plugged in) to "Never". Not a solution by any means, just a workaround until all players involved (Lenovo, HP) figure out how to work with the new USB Type C port. Hope this helps. Rob

Hi there, I own the same model and I believe I have the same issue. Also I find booting up to be painfully slow. It gives me so much Apple Mac envy. I am almost certain the issue is with regard to the HDD itself, the WDC WD10S21X-24R1BT0-SSHD-8GB. It is used in many of the new-ish lenovo laptops including the Y50 touchscreen gaming computer. Many customers have complained about the SSHD, google that long model and you'll see loads of complaints on forums. I intend to open up my Yoga 500 ISK and replace the SSHD with what should be in there - an SSD. I shall let you know how I get on! Harry

Hi, I recently purchased a Thinkpad X1 Yoga, shipped on May 16, 2016.  I have an issue:     When I use the left side USB port (the one on the side of the power charging port) to charge my old Ipod and the laptop goes to sleep. The laptop does not wake up when opening the lid or pressing on the power button. However, as soon as I disconnect my Ipod from the USB port. The laptop immediately wakes up but unable to login using the fingerprint reader. Specific steps to reproduce: 1) Plug x1 yoga power cord to the laptop 2) Plug Ipod to the left side USB port. Make sure Ipod has no earphones plugged in. 3) Put the laptop in sleep mode 4) Close the lid of the laptop 5) Wait until iPod is no longer being charged by the laptop (a few seconds after the laptop goes to sleep) 6) Wait until iPod automically turns off on its own (it takes 15 to 30 mins, not sure exactly how much time.) 7) Open the laptop lid and notice that the laptop is not waking up. 8) Press on the "power" button on the right side of the X1 Yoga. Notice that the laptop does not wake up. 9) Remove the iPod from the USB port on the left side of the X1 Yoga.        Notice that the laptop is now able to wake up.        Also notice that the finger print reader is not responding. Cannot login using the fingerprint reader. Seems like a driver issue. Lenovo please confirm! ThanksWilly

Has anyone else had problems with the X1 Yoga falling asleep? About 1 out of 6/7 times the X1 Yoga will not enter sleep mode - pretty random when it happens. When I select sleep from the Windows 10 menu or close the lid (so this happens both with the OneLink+ dock and when using standalone as a notebook) the computer seems to go to sleep, the displays turn off, USB devices turn off, but then the small led just stays on. It never really enters sleep mode. And there is no way to wake the computer up, just press the power button for 4 seconds and turn it off. Which practically means cold booting again. Usually the last item in the event log is a Kernel-Power event announcing the system is entering sleep mode. Today there are two more events after that, but then just nothing. (this is from the System event log). Really bothersome issue, probably related to Windows and/or firmware/BIOS. There does not seem to be any connection to what the computer is doing. It happens when no programs are running, and also when lots of programs are open. It happens as the fan is on (because the computer is doing something heavy) and both when the fan is off (the computer is idling). It happens while connected to the dock and also while not being connected to the dock. There does not seem to be any pattern to it. Anyone else experiencing something similar? Most drivers are updated to latest version, and BIOS is also latest.

Hi, I have a problem now with my Thinkpad Yoga that I started noticing after the latest Windows 10 updates (KB2538243, KB890830, and KB3176495- the one that adds the Windows Ink features). The problem is that if I let the laptop go to sleep, when it wakes up it gets stuck on the lock screen.  Sometimes the lock screen appears all blue with the clock and icons and sometimes with the lock screen image plus clock and icons but at that point it freezes and won't recognize a click nor present the field for the pin when I hit the return key. It only has this problem when waking from sleep.  Waking from hibernate or starting cold works fine. Any ideas or suggestions?

After booting from sleep with my Yoga 2 Pro, (i7, 8gb RAM, 256GB HDD) it is extremely slow; Chrome and various other programs are not responding and it is difficult to even open a Word document and save my work. A restart fixes the issue but it is very annoying to have to reboot every time I start up my laptop. I have searched online and found some fixes people have done that may work but I am still encountering the issue. Has anyone found a fix for this?  Thanks,Tom

Long story short, i erased everything and performed a clean install of Windows 10 64bit and the computer stopped shutting down or go into sleep mode. I had Windows 8.1 64bit, i upgraded it to Windows 10 about a year ago, when it first came out. The upgrade went almost fine, some bit issue with the OS but nothing serious, so i went on till i decided, to correct those little issues, to perform a clean install.  So i downloaded the media creation tool, the version with the anniversary update, and erased everything, but keeping the recovery partition. After the install, i started having troubles with entering sleeping mode or shutting down the laptop.I installed the power management driver i found on the site (n1cku04w). With that I can shut down even if it strangely blinks a few times before shutting down. I can enter sleep mode and wake it up properly if I do it from the start menu, but if i close the laptop or try using the power button takes me to a state where OS is sleeping and HW is still awake, so i can't do anything apart from force it off. Strangely too, the driver on the site is overriden from another version i recieve from System Update app. But, with the version from System Update app, i can't even shut it down properly, the OS dies but the HW is still awake and fully functioning leading me to kill it pressing the Power Button. Anybody have faced the same issue? If somebody with the same laptop still has Windows 8.1 can he tell me, someh... Read more

I bought a new Thinkpad Yoga 14 (20DM/Broadwell). Gorgeous machine, but it refuses to wake from sleep on a keypress or click on the trackpad. It will wake up if I close and re-open it. I updated all of the drivers and the bios using Lenovo's utilities and Windows System Update. When that didn't work, I tried updating the Intel Integrated graphics drivers and GeForce drivers with the latest packages from Intel and NVIDIA, downgraded the Intel Management Engine to version 10, and disabled hybrid sleep. No dice. So I resorted to a clean re-install of Windows 10 from a USB key and updated all of the Lenovo drivers (again) using ThinkVantage System Update. "Allow this device to wake the computer" was and is checked in the Device Manager for both the keyboard and trackpad. Is there anything I can do to get it working? Only a couple days left to figure this out before my return period ends.

Hi Hello Just got my new X1 yoga, but even after reading the manual, couldn't figure out how to resume it from sleep? Getting it to sleep easy, lid down, windows menu or F4. When I came back to it, the screen is off, the fingerprit scanner has a light, but I cannot manage to get it back on unless i press 1 or 2 times on the power button, and then it resumes. Any other ways to do it?? I'm used just to press any key/mouse, to get it to resume, my old surface was like that. Sorry for the basic question, but the power button sometime takes as long time, as I think it's restarting the computer. Thank you

A:ThinkPad X1 Yoga how to resume from sleep mode??

Pressing the Fn key might do it if it has only been in sleep mode for a while, but after a period of time set under the power plan setting, it will go into hibernation mode  to save the battery power (it basically writes the system state to a file called hiberfil.sys, and powers off), and in that case you have to press the power button to resume. This might help too even though it does not explicitly mention your model.https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht075624 Take Care,

Hi guys,  Got my yoga last month and it's been okay, bit slow to load from sleep but it's done the job. Only thing is its now in a permanent sleep mode. I've tried re-charging it from zero battery, hard reset, putting the lid up and down, combining that with hard reset too. what to do? Do I have to send it somewhere? Obviously I don't want to open the thing up, I'd rather leave that to a professional. cheers.

It does this whether it is on battery or on charge, no settings seem to have any effect.I have tried all the usual solutions/fixes found by searching on the net including resetting the power/sleep modes to default; uninstalling/reinstalling OKO and the Windows updates; updating all the drivers to the latest versions available.None of these have sorted the problem, so if anybody out there has any ideas - please let me know! System info: Yoga 3 Pro 1370, Intel 5Y70 CPU, running Windows 10 Home V1607 Build 14393.321 (upgraded from Win8.1 approx. 6 months ago) TIASteve

Good day.

The major differences I see, looking at: http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/Lenovo_Yoga_900_13_inch are: the SK2 has Intel Iris HD 540 graphics, slightly different CPUs and PCIe SSDs.

Regarding driver updates, there's a feature in Lenovo Companion that assists with that.

Hope this helps clarify.

So three weeks ago, I was working on my Yoga 3 14" and popped to get a drink, I came back and the screen was blank, I assumed it had gone to sleep, so hit a key to wake it up. Nothing! The laptop was plugged in, so I know it hadn't run out of charge. After sheer panic, I contacted Lenovo, who told me that my warranty was out by a month, and that I could send it to them to diagnose, and they would tell me how much to fix, then it was up to me if they did or not.One I wouldn't be happy about not having my laptop for a couple of weeks minimum, but also it had all my private information on.I turned to good old google, and stumbled across this forum, and somebody with the same problem.Their solution was to unscrew the back case of the laptop (as mentioned above, my warranty was already out), remove the battery cable, hold down the power button for 30 seconds and reconnect the battery cable.I did this, and low and behold it worked. Fantastic!Only for it to happen twice more that week, and approx twice a week since. Then yesterday my brother contacts me saying his laptop has died, just won't turn on. His is the Yoga 2 Pro, I told him to bring it to mine, and I would try what I had to do to mine, to his, low and behold, the same solution worked. Seeing as I wasn't the first person to have this issue, and I'm guessing others have used the solution but not commented, this is obviously a fault with the Yoga range. I'm hoping that Lenovo can address this issue, as I fe... I am hhaving difficulty finding an acceptable scaling mix between resolution, system scaling, and edge scaling. At 1080p, 125%, 125%, os navigation is mostly fine, but edge text is way too large. At 1080p, 125%, 100%, edge text is way too small. At all combinations text is inflated (but crisp) in certain elements while fuzzy in others. What scaling combinations work best for you? I am considering returning this to Best Buy and upgrading to a Pro 4 / Book, or even a Mac. The scaling is ruining an otherwise great experience.

My PC is no longer waking from sleep by pressing a keyboard button which used to work. I have to restart the PC using the power on button - then I get the a critical error Event 41 - The System has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. I also get error Event 6008 The previous shutdown at .... was unexpected.

I've run SFC /SCANNOW and that's fine, the keyboard is set to wake the PC, USB selective suspend is disabled, the PC is not allowed to power off USB devices and link state power management is off.

I can't think of any other software changes to try. Is there a diagnostic tool or Fixit program to help solve this problem?

My XFX PSU is playing up taking 10-20secs before the +5VSB signal appears on initial power on. Could this be an issue preventing wake from sleep? Note the PC reboots straight away from a failed wake from sleep as soon I press the power on button - but then it logs the errors Event 41 & Event 6008 noted above.

Hello JP,

Is it possible your computer is set to hibernate after a certain amount of time? Check and confirm that. Could be a resume from hibernate that is causing the issue.

I would try making the keyboard the only device that is allowed to wake the computer. Because your mouse works by detecting motion, it is far more likely to send a false signal and wake up the computer than your keyboard.

The computer will wake from sleep sometimes but randomly once a day or so I have to power the system back on with the power button and a minidump is created. The report I get out of windbg is the same every time.

Update 1: Hmm... I guess I will have to look at the empty .zip when I get home from work.

Update 2: Attached the correct .zip file

Hi all,
I currently put my computer to sleep when I go to bed and everything goes dark and my monitors power off and all is well until I press the power button again the next day to wake it up. But recently I have been awoken a couple nights now to my computer being on and powered up while I was sleeping.
This is annoying as it blasts light in my room at 2am and probably is not the best for your sleep.I have done some research and found out what wakes up my PC, just I do not know how to fix the problem. Please see the screen-capture of the task scheduler.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

I just started getting BSODs recently. My computer has been pretty stable before this. I can only guess some Windows Update broke something.

Hello everyone,

I get a BSOD when waking my Laptop out of sleep. I believe this doesn't happen on Win 8 with no updates applied. So I think it may be a Windows update or driver that is causing my BSODs. I do not believe its hardware related like a failing HDD. Though I could be wrong.

A:BSOD Waking from Sleep

Please remove the driver highlighted in red, and perform HDD check.

Greetings forum,

Ever since I upgraded to Windows 10, I've been seeing BSODs about once a month when waking my desktop from sleep. I would greatly appreciate any help on this matter.

I've never encountered this on Windows 8.1.

I've attached the zip file as instructed in the posting instructions thread. My PC specs are in my profile, if that is needed. Feel free to ask me for any other details that maybe required.

Thank you for your time!

Hi everyone,

I've had the current computer I am running for a about a year now and have been getting BSODs inconsistently when waking the computer from sleep. As in sometimes it will wake fine, other times it crashes with various BSOD messages (isn't always the same). I built the computer myself and can usually fix most problems I face with PCs but the process of analysis .dmp files is foreign to me.

I've included the dump files of my computer and let me know if any other information is needed.

Cheers,

Sam

A:BSOD upon waking from sleep

Hi Sam & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

I have analysed your dump files and below has been provided an analysis of the same for informative purposes :-
DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER (f7)
A driver has overrun a stack-based buffer. This overrun could potentially allow a malicious user to gain control of this machine.
DESCRIPTION
A driver overran a stack-based buffer (or local variable) in a way that would have overwritten the function's return address and jumped back to an arbitrary address when the function returned. This is the classic "buffer overrun" hacking attack and the system has been brought down to prevent a malicious user from gaining complete control of it. Do a kb to get a stack backtrace -- the last routine on the stack before the buffer overrun handlers and bugcheck call is the one that overran its local variable(s).

Code:
Arguments:
Arg1: 00000b0a53fb2f86, Actual security check cookie from the stack
Arg2: 00000b0a53fb2f86, Expected security check cookie
Arg3: ffffd466d2205dcd, Complement of the expected security check cookie
Arg4: 0000000000000000, zero

So, if we compare the actual and expected security cookies, you would see that the security cookies are the same. That is strange. Let's do the KB to get the stack backtrace -

Code:

Just built a new computer. All of the drives and the Windows installation is the same as in the old system. I don't know if the issue would have occurred in the old system as I never tried to put my computer to sleep. I was getting one BSOD when waking from sleep (something to do with kernel (0x0000007a bugcheck) but I believe I got that fixed by running chkdsk on all of my HDDs (not on SSDs).

Now, after having run those CHKDSKs, I wanted to test it. Unfortunately, I now get bugcheck 0x00000154 (0xffffe001bc68a000, 0xffffd000216fb080, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000)

Any ideas?

My computer cannot wake up from sleep without getting bsod. It also cannot cold boot, the first time I try to boot it up there is no picture on the screen, after the first try it boots fine though.

Attached is the crash log. There are multiple there and all are essentially the same (I imagine). The most recent is obviously the most recent though and thus most relevant.

Thanks for any help.

Your BIOS dates from 2010. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

So, I've been getting BSOD for over a month. It happens after my laptop wake up from sleep.
I've tried to uninstall some programs i installed just before this happened (malware bytes, HP printer driver, etc) but this BSOD still happens.
I hope someone can help to analyze and solve this problem.

Hi, I am getting a BSOD every time I wake my computer up from sleep.

My memory dump information is attached.

Thanks

A:BSOD on waking from sleep

Only 48 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 66 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

You have a Belkin Wireless USB Network Adapter. Here's my spiel about these:

I do not recommend using wireless USB network devices. Especially in Win7/Win8 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7(and I suspect with Win8) - using Vista drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have Win7/Win8 drivers - DO NOT use Vista drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.

SSD's were temperamental when they first came out, but their reliability has improved greatly over the last year or two. There are 2 things that MUST be checked on systems with BSOD's and SSD's:

1) That the SSD firmware is the latest available for the SSD
2) That the storage controller drivers on the motherboard are the most recent. They must date from late 2012 or later. This is ALL controllers, not just the one that the SSD is attached to.

Please uninstall Gigabyte Easy Saver and ET6 (EasyTune6). They are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems.

The memory dumps blame a driver for the Belkin Wireless USB Network Adapter ( netr28ux.sys).
Please update the driver. If the BSOD's continue, please r... Read more

Greetings. I've lately been getting a number of BSOD pop-ups when waking my computer from sleep or hibernation. Though it has happened occasionally in the past, I've noticed an increase since installing a new Blu-Ray drive.

I am able to recreate the BSOD just by putting the computer to sleep, then waking it. After restarting from the BSOD, it takes several minutes for the computer to leave the bios and boot into Windows. The Blu-Ray drive also acts as though it has no power going to it (no lights, won't open).

If I disconnect the drive from the SATA port on the motherboard, my computer is able to wake from sleep normally.
I've checked the manufacturer's website for any help, but haven't had any luck. I'm not really sure it's so much a hardware problem, since the drive boots regularly until waking from sleep or hibernation, though, I am prepared to get a replacement/refund if it comes to it.

Attached is the .zip for my dump files. Thanks for the help.

A:DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE when waking from sleep

It appears that you've solved the problem. As long as you installed the Blu-Ray drive according to the manufacturer's instructions - there shouldn't be any problems of this sort that you can definitely pin on the Blu-Ray drive. Things don't have to fail completely in order to be broken. Failure of an individual component inside of the drive may cause just this sort of error.

Although it'll be a pain, obtain an RMA for the drive and send it back for another one. It won't hurt to do this, and it should help when you replace the drive.

Beyond that, here's the BSOD analysis.......

Interestingly, the Blu-Ray drive doesn't show in the MSINFO32 report. Was it disconnected when you generated the reports?
