About a month ago Outlook 03 started closing right after I opened it. I would get the Outlook start screen then the generic Windows error, "Outlook has encountered problem and is forced to close."

I wasn't sure if it was related to Outlook 03 or not but I just upgraded to Outlook 07 and it did not solve the problem.

I can start Outlook in safe mode without any problems. My OS is XP Professional. All other MS Office programs work fine.

With the generic error message I'm not sure where to start looking for solutions. I tried searching and the only results I found were for a corrupted profile, I followed those instructions and it didn't solve the problem.

Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Hi,

WMP11 closes immediately after it opens. I have been using it for a long time with no problems. The only thing that is new is that I just installed a new 25" LCD monitor (I-INC) but I wouldn't think that would cause any problems.

I'd appreciate any help.

My PC configuration is:

As of earlier in the week every program that was on my desktop, excluding google chrome, is impossible to use because they close as soon as they launch. I've tried to run them as administrator, go into start and run them there, nothing works. I did a clean boot incase it was a background program that was causing the problem but still the problem persisted. I even tried a system restore and to uninstall then reinstall some of the programs. I have an HP notebook with 64 bit windows.

A:Programs closing immediately after opened

Hi there welcome to SevenForums, high chance it could be malware of sorts

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
Vista/Windows 7/8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator.
Click on the Scan button.
AdwCleaner will begin...be patient as the scan may take some time to complete.
After the scan has finished, click on the Report button...a logfile (AdwCleaner[R#].txt) will open in Notepad for review (where the largest value of # represents the most recent report).
The contents of the log file may be confusing. Unless you see a program name that you know should not be removed, don't worry about it. If you see an entry you want to keep, let me know about it.
Copy and paste the contents of that logfile in your next reply.
A copy of all logfiles are saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder which was created when running the tool.
Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
The tool will open and start scanning your system.
Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
Post the contents... Read more

Mozilla doesn't seem to have a clue what's causing the crashes.
I'm running only one other app which is the newest Flash (from Adobe website).
The faulting module is XUL.DLL.
Attatched a couple of files from Event Viewer.
The "after close" crash is sporatic (maybe once every two or three days).
Anyone have an idea ?

A:Firefox 19.0.2 Crashes Immediately After Closing

Hi bej,

While researching, I came across various instances where 'similar crashes' are reported with 'Mozilla Firefox version 19.0.2'; appears to be a known issue.

You may try the troubleshooting steps listed in this tutorial to see if that helps: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb...t-and-get-help

If the issue persists, you may try moving back to install an older version of 'Firefox' to and check results.
Hope this helps.

I have been trying to run down a problem of my pc waking from sleep as soon as i close the screen. I have been throught the device mgr, mgmt.msc, pc is updated, and i only experience this when i close the top.....if i put the pc to sleep and dont close the top it works perfectly....close the top....5 seconds later....pc wakes and the logs report says that its the power button is waking the pc....dont know how because i cant access power button when the top is closed...please help.

A:Notebook wakes immediately after closing the screen?

On the assumption you have nothing crazy going on e.g. the top somehow depressing the power button when you close it, have you tried changing what closing the top does in the power settings from sleep or whatever its currently set at to "do nothing" ?

Then when you put it to sleep from the start button, and if you have nothing going on as I mentioned above, it should stay sleeping when you close the top.

Just a suggestion.

My computer has crashed a few times in the last few days. I was looking into hardware issues until I noticed that MSE wasn't running. When I try to open it, it opens for less than a second then closes. Windows defender does the same thing. As I was trying to look into this issue I suddenly couldn't connect to the internet anymore. When I run the windows troubleshooter it says "the wired network adapter is experiencing problems". I have no problems connecting to the internet on other computers in the house or through wifi. I'm running windows 7. What should my first steps be? Thanks in advance.

Update: I was able to connect to the internet by using a usb ethernet adapter that I had so that may be a hardware issue.

Hello guys,

Recently the windows store stopped working for me, well I say recently but I hadn't used it in a long time till recently so I don't know for how long it has actually been out of commission.

When I try to open it it will flash for a second before quickly closing. Searching the internet for solutions has shown me that this is a known issue.

So far I've tried a large number of things to try and fix it:

-Tried Windows Powershell
-Tried Win store Troubleshooter
-Tried making a new Microsoft account
-Tried using a local account
-Tried clearing the store cache and deleting its folders
-Tried messing around in regedit thinking it may be a permission issue
-Tried Win store reset
-Tried disabling firewall + antivirus and trying powershell + reset
-Tried a clean install of Windows 10

Nothings worked so far, so any new solutions would be greatly appreciated

Cheers.

I have tried to search for this problem and haven't found any other reference. I have tried virus, malware & spyware scans and seem to be clear of such. I am running Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 2. Laptop is Toshiba Satellite, Intel Pentium 1.50 MHz, 2.00 GB RAM. All of my programs seem to work and I have no problems with internet access or speed. It is very annoying and, if I am typing, I miss letters or spaces if the flashing of the command prompt window opens and closes. It never stay open long enough for me to read any text so I can't tell you what is going on. Just in the time I have been typing this, the event has happened 10-12 times. I would really appreciate any help. I have tried "System Restore" but get a "Failure to Restore" message for all of the restore points I have tried.

Then do an MBAM scan and post a log.Click on Start, then right click on My Computer.Scroll and select Properties, then choose Advanced tab.Under Start up and Recovery click Settings. Windows XP IE7 has been working great until a recent auto update. Apparently something went wrong and now IE will not even open, it gets to the opening screen then immediately pops up "Encountered a problem needs to close". The data in the error is as follows:

Appname: iexplore.exe Appver:7.0.6000.16735 Modname:rpcrt4.dll
Modver:5.1.2600.5512 Offset:000858b9

I've restored to point before auto update and still no good. When I went to get on computer after the auto update it appeared that computer was locked up in "shutting down" mode on the auto restart. Something went wrong but just dont know what. Rest of computer seems to be working just fine and same as always. ANY SUGGESTIONS.

Whenever I open Internet Explorer 64 bit, a message immediately pops up saying something to the effect of "Internet explorer has stopped working. Windows is looking for a solution .. blah blah blah" Whether I wait for it to tell me to close IE or immediately try to close the message, it just pops up over and over again, making the only way to actually quit IE to go into task manager and end the process (I'm not sure if this is relevant, but when I do that, there are two "iexplore" processes, and only ending the second one (when they're in alphabetical order) actually turns off IE). The program launched from the menu item "Internet Explorer", which I assume is 32 bit IE, works just fine, as does the no add-ons mode. I have also seen several people asking questions about IE 9 64 bit stopping working on youtube and related sites because of issues with 64 bit flash or the lack thereof. This IS NOT that problem - it freezes immediately upon the start of the program. Also, I have just upgraded to Service Pack 1, but the problem existed before that (I was actually hoping SP1 might fix it, but no luck). I have also uninstalled updates to IE and then re updated to 9, but that didn't help either. (also it is really annoying that that's the closest you're allowed to get to uninstalling IE completely. I would feel much better if I could just exorcise the whole thing and start fresh, but no dice). Anyway, thanks for taking a look!

I know this has been addressed in previous posts but none of the solutions I found worked for me.

Upon starting my computer, opening regedit isn't possible. I get an error message saying: "Regedit is disabled by administer." To fix this, I run (every time I turn on my netbook) the following statement: REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v DisableRegistryTools /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

This allows me to open Regedit, but it immediately closes again.

I have started working in Sierra Leone and know my computer has many viruses on it. Still, none of my anti-virus software (I use AVG Free 9.0 and PandaSecurity ActiveScan 2.0) has solved this problem.

Below please find my HJT log. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Daniel

OK, this is what's going on...

This particular game doesn't require much out of my machine. I've ran this game 5-6 times over just to see and it still ran smoothly, so I know for fact it has nothing to do with hardware (especially because I can still run much more graphically/processor intensive games). Just getting that out of the way.

I have played this game, unchanged, many-a-time pretty much every day, then one day it simply quits working. No update to the game (it does not update automatically), no change whatsoever. It'll just open and immediately close before any kind of content, color, or image is loaded. The whole process of me attempting to run the game and it closing takes less than a second.

I've tried spamming the game to see if maybe a 1 in 100 shot will randomly open it. This didn't work.

I have removed all my firewalls and antivirus, just for sake of testing purposes. This didn't work. Yes, I rebooted.

I have absolutely completely uninstalled the game, then reinstalled it. Rebooted, and it didn't work.

I have tried running as Administrator, or even just disabling the UAC altogether. Rebooted, and it didn't work.

It's an online game. Windows Firewall is disabled, all my ports are open, nothing is justifying what's going on here.

The two previous Firewalls/Antivirus I had were McAfee and Avast.

I am on Windows 7.

A:Game closes immediately after opening

What game and what are you exact PC specs (make and model if its a big brand name, or make and model of motherboard, cpu, gpu, ram, harddrive, power supply including wattage, optical drives etc.)?

At the moment, all you are saying is a random game doesn't work on a undefined machine ... thats not a lot to work with

Hi everyone, New to the forum so thanks for the help ahead of time. Upon opening internet explorer it immediately closes and displays nothing. Also Internet options in control panel will not open at all. The windows firewall also tells me "For your security, some settings are controlled by group policy." This computer is not on a network and is a home computer. I was able to work around it by doing some registry work in which I removed the value on the firewall key. So that enabled me to turn the firewall back on. The service for windows firewall is now started with no errors and is set to automatic.

The Internet explorer problem is more important to me at the moment. I know the internet connection is active because firefox works perfectly. I scanned the computer with AVG and it found so many viruses and trojans it was rediculous. I also scanned the computer with webroot spysweeper and it found nothing but when I open IE it stops all sorts of things like drivecleaner for example.

Hi guys,

Have just found and read a closed as solved post about Microsoft Office 2000 Outlook closing immediately on opening. Of course, now I have gone through the registration process I cannot find the original post.

So, within the last two days, for no apparent or obvious reasons, Outlook 2000 refuses to stay open. When I try to open it, it opens and immediately closes; no error messages, no crash reports to Microsoft. The only thing I notice is in the task bar at the bottom of the screen, when it opens it shows the outlook logo followed by '-Microsoft Outlook' instead of 'Microsoft Outlook'.

I have removed the program and reinstalled it a trillion times (only a slight exaggeration). This made no difference.
I have deleted (having copied it to a different location) the .pst file. This caused the program to open and ask various questions about setting up new folders. I did what it asked and the program promptly closed having created various personal telephone folders.
I have put the .pst file back. Now, for the pico second that the screen is open, I can see that there are no e-mails in any of the folders, obvious I guess, but confusing to an idiot like me.
Any help greatly appreciated.
P.S. Info Utility says I don't have an anti-virus but I am running a full Norton 360 program which is always on and I have scanned the whole system a couple of times since this problem began.

Okay, for some reason when I try to start Firefox, I get the message:

"firefox.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

behind it is the Mozilla Crash Reporter:

"Firefox had a problem and crashed. We'll try to restore your tabs and windows when it restarts."

There is an option to restart firefox, but the same messages come up. I believe it might have had something to do with a virus I had, but Malwarebytes removed several trojans (Vundo I believe was one of them) and installed IE8. So far I've

- restarted the computer
- completely uninstalled and reinstalled firefox
- ran ccleaner & combofix
- ran malwarebytes
- manually uninstalled firefox, renamed the user profile folder in %APPDATA%

I have Windows XP Pro, and when i try to open up regedit or msconfig, they immediately close. THe reason i have been trying to get into regedit is to completely delete my old corporate edition of Norton antivirus in order to install the New norton cd i just bought.

i have seen in other posts that it is necessary to post the hijackthis log, so here it is....

if you could please guide me in how to remove this virus, i would greatly appreciate it. thank you

Hello,

I am trying to update my Windows 10 version but every time I load the Windows Update application it immediately closes. I have tried starting Windows in Safe Mode and the application does not close immediately but there is a constant stream of horizontal loading dots instead.

I am not on the latest revision of Windows 10 but I haven't been able to update since moving from Windows 8. I have tried almost every guide or suggestion on the internet with my Google Fu but nothing has worked so far.

Thanks,

Mike

Hello,

For a while now I've been unable to open Msconfig or Regedit. I open the Run console, type in either msconfig or regedit, hit enter, and the msconfig/regedit window flickers on the screen for a second before closing itself. I'm running Avast and Mbam and I've scanned with both, but neither turned up anything. Here's my sysinfo log:

Windows 8.1 apps crash immediately after opening and none of the Windows 8.1 apps will fully load.

After clicking on an app, the loading screen appears for about a second, and then it goes back to the (metro) menu.

I tried to restore the system by system restore point but I couldn't

an error occurs and it tells me that the the system couldn't be restored to the point I wanted

Also I just want to add that there's a problem that I have just found which is the Hp simplepass software is not working too

whenever I open it, it crash's immediately too

and I get this message when I open the photoshop from the search bar on the right

however I used to open it that way and it worked but not anymore and the same for the metro apps, it used to work with me before feb 5th

any suggestions to get over this issue?

Okay so I'm really not computer very computer smart and i have no idea where I messed up but somehow I must have messed up my computer and now very few of the metro apps run. I've had this problem ever since i updated to 8.1 but I never asked for help because i was using a third party desktop program that made metro unimportant, but because of mounting problems being caused by aforementioned program I uninstalled it and am now attempting to learn how to use the metro. I talked to a friend and asked how I could fix it and he said the only way he knew of would be to re-install windows 8 but I have too many files I would lose if I were to re-install and he said that even if you go the route where its not supposed to mess with your files sometimes it does anyways. I have no external device where I can back up the files and I guess what I'm asking is how do I fix the apps without losing my files? I'm not a total idiot as far as computers go but if you need information I'll need a step by step explanation of how to get it. So thanks in advance to anyone that takes time to help me and sorry for how frustrating its probably going to be.

A:Most metro apps crash immediately after opening

I suggest to right click and select uninstall whatever apps that were not working then login into MS Account, run the Store Apps. From there you can re-install them to see if the problem is fixed.

In addition, From Admin command prompt run 2 commands below:
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealthsfc /scannow

i know i had the blaster virus (or that's what Dell tells me anyway...). So, I downloaded the patch for it and installed it, and then tried to run Norton Antivirus full system scan and about 3 seconds after it opens, it disappears. Same thing if I try to run Live Update.
I was able to do a full system scan in safe mode, and the system came up clean, but I still can't run the Live Update in regular mode. HELP!

I'm on XP, using Norton Antivirus Professional Edition 2004.

A:norton antivirus closes immediately after opening

Do the cntrl, alt, delete command to open the task manager then go to aplications and see if its still runing. If it's not there, then check the processes tab to see if its runing. If its not runing at all then maybe you should uninstall and reinstall then after do the patch. If it happens again then its gonna be a registry that some virus or malicious code has added or modified. Im not an expert but tricks like that are always pulled by means of altering the registry.

PS...MAKE SURE TO RESTART AFTER UNINSTALLING AND BETWEENING INSTALLING THE PROGRAM AGAIN AND PATCH.

Everything worked fine until I read one of the messages in the system tray in the 'flag' area (action center).

It said I had to restart the computer immediately or there were going to be trouble I am not sure it was the line "Restart to repair drive errors" or something else. I did it, it took a while, it wasn't your simple restart, since it was on a black screen with my acer logo on top and not the typical blue one.

After this, the store is broken and won't open and most of the apps (I have around 70, haven't tested them all) show a x sign on the bottom right corner and will not open.

I have tried a lot of stuff (clear the store cache, some powershell scripts) but the only thing that has changed is that the store number of apps listed in the bottom corner was zero and now it is 37. I have tried the apps.diagcab but it just tells me that I have the windows updates set on do not download. (I download them manually)

But I cannot get the store to open. Please do not ask to check the screen resolution since it worked fine with the same screen resolution until yesterday.

any idea?

Hi,

Since three days both internet browsers installed on my PC won't start (IE and Chrome). Or rather close immediately after I start them. (I am entering this thread from my office PC)
I didn't install any programs in between when they worked and stopped working (did copy files from a CD-ROM).

Some things I tried:
- logging in as my wife (we have got two users installed) - same problem
- clearing the user settings of Chrome (i.e. deleting the folder). After doing this the browser works for about 30 secs. and then the same problem occurs (either using it to browse or not using it gives the same result)
- scanned the PC for viruses (Windows anti-virus) and malware (Spybot) ? nothing found
- start IE with extensions off
- I also installed HijackThis. Couldn?t find anything that looked fishy, but did not have an expert look at it
- Using either WLAN or LAN doesn?t make a difference (tried it just in case ? never know ?)

Both programs are the latest version.

Any ideas?

Best regards,
Roy

A:Internet browsers (IE & Chrome) close immediately after opening ???

Hi,

Tried some more:
- de-installed Google Chrome
- de-installed Java
- de-installed IE Google toobar add-in
Didn't work yet
- run a registry cleaner

After restart IE works again. Typing this message from there.

Seems problem is solved although I have no idea what caused it. Didn't like Chrome anyway though because it crashed on me several times a day. Installed it because IE was becoming very slow. But that's another story.

So for now: problem solved.

Regards,
Roy

Hey
I've tried everything I know how to do (not very much). I've lost the recovery disc so I can't reformat. I have a Gateway tablet pc/laptop thing. I think i've picked up some nasty malware/virus/browser hijacker. When I open IE it would close immediately. Firefox is very unresponsive and my browsers appears to be hijacked. I get the warning that pops up on the task bar over and over saying that it's detected some spyware or malware and I need to click to download the antivirus. I'm in safemode now, I can't even use either browser in normal mode, I still can't use IE in safemode. If I have to log back in on normal mode to save a hijack this log then switch back to safe mode so I can post then i'll do that. I also noted that I couldn't even run the "hijack this" program, it wasn't until I renamed the .exe to something completely unrelated that it would even allow me to open it up.
Idk if my hijack log will be valuable in safemode but here it is, i've already tried looking at other people's threads with similar problems and troubleshooting myself unsuccessfully. I will appreciate anyone's help or helpful advice.

Hey, I am having problems with my other computer suddenly closing both Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer applications, such as Control Panel, My Computer, etc...(Windows XP Home Edition)
When i click on either one, lets say the my computer icon, a pop up of the my computer folder thing flashes for a split second then disappears, the computer freezes for about a second, shows only the desktop, then a few seconds later the icons start appearing on my desktop and my start taskbar comes back. The screen is back to normal with no lag, but the my computer pop up is no longer there. The same thing happens with internet explorer, but it just happens alot quicker.
Does anyone know what could possibly be the problem of this, and maybe how to fix it? Thank You in advance.

Is this malware and even if it is not how can I stop this? For the past week also if i play games it minimizes it which annoys me a lot.

it is more likely some kind of software or driver incompatiblity.

Hello,
Sometimes when I come out of standby, my Pioneer 109 will keep opening and closing on its own, the only solution I found was to shut down the computer, wait 10 seconds, and then restart it, if I don't wait 10 seconds, the problem stays. When I put a DVD in the drive, while it's open, it will close and then start spinning but it is not actually reading it, and if I go to My Computer it doesn't see the DVD in the DVD drive. I ran a full virus scan and I did not find anything. I know that my DVD drive is an old one, it has like 5 years, and is IDE. I just hope that it is not my motherboard!

Hi

I first noticed I was infected whenever I would search google in firefox it would quit immediately and open IE and go to ea.com. I thought no big deal.

Then a couple days later something ran while I was on the comp. utorrent.exe activated and started to add random torrents by itself. Winrar then activated and started to unzip what seemed like every single .zip file on my computer but it seemed to fail alot so I had hundreds of winrar errors constantly popping up.

At the same time MSN then opened and it started messaging people on my contact list 1 by 1 a link to some website, which I didn't see because it closed the window straight after.

At this point I hard reset my computer, booted into safe mode and ran adaware, spybot and housecall scans. They picked up a few things and removed them.

Then I rebooted and ran combofix.

Now my system seems fairly stable but I think there are still things left over. I cannot open task manager still. Here is the hijack log:

I have done everything I can think of.
malware scan.
updated my windows drivers.
restarted.
closed unneccessary processes.
defragged my computer.
everything.
im running the panda virus scan right now.
my problem is that some programs wont start, such as avg virus scan and others.
and also, programs such as winamp wont stay open. it will run for about two minutes, and then give me the "send error report" prompt.
also, whenever i go to a new website, it asks me to accept a license.
i tried running a windows media file on winamp on accident, and that's where it started.
i deleted those files from my computer, yet the problem still exists.
i've uninstalled and reinstalled winamp, nothing happened.

can someone help me?

much appreciated.

Well, I've had problems with the stupid license thing before too and there's one thing to check that might fix alot of things. When I had the license problem it was because my PC clock had been set back alot of years, I know it sounds awkward but that's what happens, so check your PC clock year and switch it back if it was changed. If that's not it post back.

P.S. You shouldn't have Panda AND Avg installed, it should be one or the other because they cause problems with each other, just like most Anti virus when you put more than one on.

Hello, I tried google for the problem that I have but I couldnt get a fix on this.
I noticed that there was something loading in the background so I kept an eye on the task manager process. The process Com Surrogate keeps loading and closing every few minutes. It opens for a few seconds and closes. Ive read that it has something to do with thumbnails which I disabled to see if it would do anything but did not. I scanned my computer with my anti virus, malware, and spybot. All the scans came out clean with no issues. Its been doing this for the past few days.

well hello to you all!
i have a problem with my pc, it an old one, the only one i own.
anyway the problem is this..... when i boot up my pc decides to open programmes all on their own and also closes them. sometimes its after i have been running for a while and sometimes as the service or programmes load.
i have formatted my pc perhaps half a dozen times thinking that it may have been virused, but after i have formatted and run my pc it starts doing it all over again. therefore i can assume that its not viruses. so i have come to you for your experienced advice.

:giddy:

If the pc is used online then its probably getting viruses and spyware over and over again. You need to protect it.

There were a couple utilities I installed yesterday before the problems started but have since uninstalled those and others I didn't need.

I apologize for the vague title... this is kind of hard to describe.
I have been noticing when I open or close my Firefox browser that I will see a quick flash of what appears to be another browser window closing. Most of the time it happens so quickly that I cant make out what it is but from what I can tell I think is either a webpage that I have closed or browsed past. It doesn't matter if I have one tab open or multiples. I notice a little while ago when I opened my Firefox browser that a quick flash of a Youtube video that I had watched earlier in the day popped up before my regular home screen. It is kind of weird but I am really wondering if it isn't some sort of tracker or logger.

I notice the "problem" more so when I close my Firefox browser but I occasionally catch it when I open the browser.

Hi, I'm quite new to this forum deal but I thought I'd give it a shot to see if I can get some help in fixing my problem.

I'm not sure what the cause is but my Internet Explorer constantly closes on me when I try to open it. The Window would just appear then disappear. I ran Mal-ware bytes and it had like 42 infected files!! I removed them but it the explorer still doesnt work. What should I do to fix this?

Its setting is to got sleep after the lid is closed but the white light indicator on the front doesnt blink like its asleep anymore. I have changed all power setting back to default in an effort to fix the problem but It has not resolved the issue. If I close the lid momentarily then reopen the screen stays black and I have to hold the power button down for 5 second for a hard reboot.
Any ideas?

Hi Danmoxi,

I suggest you to flash BIOS and update the video drivers.
Please click on this link, enter the service tag and click ‘Submit’. In the next page select the ‘Operating System’ from the dropdown lost and then click ‘BIOS’ and download the latest BIOS version.
http://dell.to/QjjZDA
Note: While flashing BIOS connect the Ac adapter and make sure the battery has minimum 15% charge as this needs uninterrupted power supply. Do not use the system till it restarts and comes up to the desktop.
Next go to the same link and click ‘Video’ and download the Video drivers. Restart the system and check. In case you find difficulty in finding the Video drivers, reply with the exact system model (e.g. L521X) and the operating system to provide the appropriate driver links.
Reply with the status to assist you further.

Quick question:
Anyone know any code that can be run to open AND close a specified CD drive. I know that this seems like a really stupid question, but .....

It does not necesarily have to be vbscript, if someone knows a command line operation that will do the same thing, or a registry tweak/shortcut that can be created in windows to do it. Basically the same thing as the context menu (right clicking) in windows where it shows "Eject".
Like I said, sounds like a weird question, but I would appreciate some help.

Thank you,

Discovery: My friend gave me audio files to make my computer sound more appealing than the typical audio. However when I attached audio to Opening Programs and Closing Programs, then the computer has began to play them both in quick succession roughly around every ten seconds. Even, when there is no applications running. In Windows Task Manager, no process seems to appear.

Jist: I'm concerned if it might be a worm or trojan is steadily downloading unwanted content into my computer by this/these programs constantly closing and opening.

As long as the jumpers are anywhere but "Cable Select", the drawer does its dance. I set the jumpers as Master, I connect the cable to the IDE slot and to the unit as a master, but the system sees it as a slave. AND, I still can't get Win95 to detect the damn thing. If I let Win detect it on its own, it freezes up. If I do it myself, everything goes through no problem, I reboot, and it's still not there, at "My Computer". In the Peripherals Manager, it appears I have some sort of conflict (the yellow ! mark) with the primary IDE controller (simple fifo, whatever the hell that is) as well as with hard drive controller IDE/ESDI standard). I'm annoyed unto death now, cuz I've been at this thing since nine this morning and things are just not getting done. 1) What is new or different since the last time everything worked properly (ie, new hw, new sw, virus, error, etc)?
2) Have you run full scans with both your anti virus app and MalwareBytes? If not, please do so now
3) Spybot is old school. I'd uninstall it if I were you and use MalwareBytes and / or Super AntiSpyware instead.

Hi, I've got a problem with the internet explorer on my Windows 7 laptop.

Out of nowhere earlier today it started to close immediately after I had tried to reopen it (I'd accidently closed it off). Just before it happened though, my internet had tried to load a website I hadn't tried to open in one of my tabs (don't know what it was, it's not in my internet history anywhere) and I've had the problem ever since.

It's taken a lot of clicking the stop cross in the top bar just as I open it to get it working. Once I close it again, I know I've got the same problem again...it's so frustrating!

Now, I've been onto the windows website and have reset internet explorer like it says but it's still not working. It's also shrunk the size of the tab bars and the home page and favourites icons for some reason. So, any help would be great as I really need it on my laptop.

I'm not very clued up on tech either so you'll have to bear with me a bit on trying to get this fixed.

I am running IE 11 on Windows 7. After booting up the computer, I can open IE once or twice (by closing and opening it again). But if I try and close and open the program a third time (or sometimes the second time), IE opens but won't load a page. Furthermore,
and very strangely, once this happens, I also can't open Chrome or Firefox - Chrome load also with a blank page and Firefox won't open at all. It is as if IE has taken control of Internet access but is frozen, and  the only solution to get a browser
working again at that point is to restart the computer. Ghis just started happening a couple of days ago.
Outlook does seem to continue to work - it is just the browsers that are frozen.
I have already tried  deselecting IE 11 from the Windows list of program that you can get to from the Programs and Features control panel, restarting, then reselecting it and restarting again. I also tried resetting the IE settings form the Internet
Options control panel. What I have not yet tried is completely uninstalling and then reinstalling IE.
I have Norton, and it has not found a virus, but maybe there is a corrupted file?

Thanks
Mike

A:CD-RW opening and closing and it wont stop

Hi Mike and welcome to TSF.

This might not be the right place to ask this, but that is a strange problem. I know of some trojans that can do this. Does it happen if you are disconnected from the internet?

See if this finds anything:

If you have a fast internet connection (broadband), run an online virus scan at TrendMicro http://uk.trendmicro-europe.com/ente...all_launch.php. Just follow the instructions on the site to run the online scan. If any viruses/trojans are detected, try to delete or clean them in that site. You may use Panda ActiveScan also at http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan. Otherwise, make sure your antivirus program has the latest definitions and run a full system scan.

Try reinstalling the drivers for that cdrw and also check the cables (unplug and plug them back in).

Hello and welcome to Computer Hope Forum. My name is Dave. I will be helping you out with your particular problem on your computer. 1. I will be working on your Malware issues. This may or may not solve other issues you have with your machine.2. The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.3. If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to ask.4. Please DO NOT run any other tools or scans while I am helping you.5. It is important that you reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.6. Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.7. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear. If you can't access the internet with your infected computer you will have to download and transfer any programs to the computer you're using now and transfer them to the infected computer with a CD-RW or a USB storage device. I prefer a CD because a storage device can get infected. If you use a storage device hold the shift key down while inserting the USB storage device for about 10 secs. You will also have to transfer the logs you receive back to the good computer using the same method until we can get the computer back on-line. *************************************************************************The Security log shows you have two Anti-virus programs on your computer; Norton Internet Security and  avast! When I click on some desktop icons it will open and then close.. sometimes I can right click and click open and it works and sometimes I have to go to my RoboForm and start it from there..

I am on a Dell inspiration desk top running win 7 sp1 64 bit...

Any help would be appreciated...

A:desktop icons closing after opening

Icons don't open and close. Perhaps you mean that the program associated with the icon shortcut opens and then closes.
Select one Icon and its associated program that opens then closes.
1. Right click the icon and select target.
2. Paste the full path of the address that is in the Target box here. I'm trying to determine if your icons are corrupt. In other words, a new shortcut has to be made from the Program in the All Programs list.

Mod Edit: Moved to Prooper log Forum ~~ boopmeI can't figure out whats wrong with my computer. I have Hitman Pro on my computer, and I have Avast Anti-Virus. Lately I can't open my task manager, or Steam, and sometimes other programs won't open either or they will crash. If I try to open chrome, and go to any antivirus website, it closes. I try to open Steam, it closes. Its getting really aggravating. I ran rougekiller and rkill (and other programs), and Taskmanager opened, but not steam (didn't test chrome), I restarted my computer and then task manager was back to not opening. A:Possible Malware, programs opening and then closing

I didn't realize that my topic had been moved, here and reposted in the other forum but here:
I have malware it seems, I have no idea where it came from or how but its been giving me serious problems for a couple days now. When I try to open task manager, it closes it out, when I try to run updates it keeps it from updating, system restore, NOPE. I have researched pretty much everything, deleted the programs that I was able to find that is behind the malware. I have run rkill, roguekiller, hitman pro, malware bytes, anything I can find or try to get rid of it. They will delete the malware, I will restart my computer and its back. I have no idea what do and I am at my wits end.

When I open Excel (also Word & Powerpoint), the progam opens and I see a blank spreadsheet (as normal). Then it just closes down as if I had never opened it. This problem just began. I've used these progams almost daily. Other programs open just fine.
Does anyone have any clues?

Thanks,

I used to have a gadget on my desktop that would open and close my dvd drive which was very convenient for me as I can't easily reach the button while sitting in my chair (and if I stretch, I CAN take out or put in a disc)

Is there an app in Windows 10 will do that?

Hi, thank you in advance for any help you can give :D

Ok, so noticed recently that dllhost.exe has been opening and closing alot. I don't think that it doing this is new though. I think that it probably always did this, I just been noticing it more, cause I got second monitor and now I have task manager open all the time on the second screen, which is why I now see it when it happens.

My question is:  Is it normal for it to open and close all the time, it seems to appear in task manager if I open a folder with thumbnails in it, or videos in it, or every time I open a music file. But sometimes it seems to open randomly, when using steam or even when just playing a game ? Although if I just leave the pc idle like nothing is running, it does seem to open less often.

I did Hitman Pro, TDSSKiller, MBAM & hijackthis scans and everything came back clean.
I also checked the file in process exploer and it said it was "(Verified)Microsoft" and the Virustotal mini scan in process explorer also said "0/57" detection. Also the file dictionary is windows/system32. And the file does appear to have a Microsoft digital signature

The reason I ask as well, is that dllhost never used to open as often as this on my old computer, which also had win 7 pro x64, although the new pc has service pack 1 and the old one didn't, could that be why ? Annway, I have a suspicion that this dllhost could be causing micro stutter/poor performance in some games, on the new pc.... Read more

A:dllhost.exe, opening and closing all the time.

Hi there,There is nothing wrong with dllhost.exe opening and closing in the background - it is a legit file used by Windows. Each and every machine is different - just like no two people are exactly the same - so there will be differences between any two machines at work. In this case, I would think that dllhost.exe is not related to your issue.Hope this helps Alex

My XPS 13 began typing & opening & closing windows on it's own yesterday. It also stopped recognizing my password. System restore did not work. I had a previous non-working touchpad issue taken care of in October, and not long after that my cursor started acting up by bouncing around while I was typing or deleting words on me. It didn't happen all the time, but often enough. Now that I am one month out of warranty, it went haywire. I took it to get looked at & it did the same thing for them. They were able to get the password to work, but all the problems occurred to the point where the repair guy asked if I had spilled anything on it (I didn't) or knew someone who would mess with it (no one has access to it but me). He hooked up an external keyboard, & the same problems occurred. No one could figure out what was causing the problems. He said it could be a software, hardware, or motherboard problem, or any combination therein (that narrows it down!). Can it be fixed? Would Dell extend the warranty to fix it or replace it if it is not fixable? Please help! Thanks!

I've only been using Windows 8 for a short time. Most things are running well, but this is frustrating. I use Outlook for email. When I open an attachment, the only way I can close it is to go back to the start menu and then back to Outlook. Surely there is an easier way to get back to Outlook.

I don't know if I have malware of spyware but I thought this would be a good place to start. Many times after I've started up my laptop I've clicked on the IE icon on my desktop only to have it open briefly the close each time. I then I go to the programs menu and click on IE there and it will work but sometimes it does the same thing. Sometimes IE will open and all I get is a blank screen with "connecting" in the tab and the address to my home page in the address bar. Other times I'll have to use the IE icon on the start menu and occasionally it behaves the same way. Each time I'm asked to send an "Error Report" which I do and then another asks me if I would like to see more details. When I go to the link (a microsoft website) it informs me that I may have malware, spyware or a virus. It further states that it could be the IE add-ons causing the problem. Basically, nothing of value I can use to determine what the cause is. I have CA anti-virus and have run a full scan and only found tracking cookies (I removed them). I am uncertain if this is malware, virus or hijack and have no idea where to start or how to proceed. Will you please help me get started on this to determine 1) if there is a problem and, 2) what I need to do once that has been established.

Now the problem:

Everytime I open a game the game freezes for about 10-30 seconds, and then begins to load.. This also happens when closing takes about ten to thirty seconds, and then finally closes...
This happens with every single game I had.. This didn't happen in the beginning but started about three to four months ago.. I searched for other threads in different forums, but I couldn't find anything similar to my problem...

Please, don't hesitate to reply

Yours Truly,
Andrew

A:Freezing when opening and closing games

Hello Andrew.

Are these high performance games or smaller ones? You don't have a ton of RAM, and your CPU is not extremely powerful. Does this happen with movies? Anything else?

You could also try a defrag and registry defrag.
