Hello, first of all I am sorry for my bad English. Now about my problem. I have Dell Latitude 3350 laptop and everytime I search for drivers updates in Dell command update, Intel chipset device software update appears. I installed it, it says "succesfully installed", I restarted the laptop and then it appears again in Dell command update. Details of update: Version, A01, release date 17 Jun 2016, filename: Chipset_Driver_320CP_WN32_10.1.1.9_A01.EXE. Filesize 10 MB.And the same problem in Dell shows again and again Intel management engine components installer, version,A00. Filename: Chipset_Driver_78C1C_WN32_11.0.0.1158_A00.exe. Filesize: 98 MB.So can anybody help me to resolve install problems of these updates, please? Thank you in advance for you reply.

Additionaly, I have WiDi issues, but I'd like to resolve them by driver update. Unfortunately, I can't update anything using provided utility due to broken GUI.

I purchased a Latitude E6500 (original delivery October 2009 w/ windows vista), with an installed Windows 10 Home Edition, from a Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher.
The Dell Product Support Page generated by the Service Tag says the "Product is not tested for Windows 10 upgrade" etc., etc.
The Device Manager shows the majority of Device Drivers as being Microsoft 2006 vintage with the following exceptions.
All are Provided By & Signed By, Microsoft
All are Dated 10-29-2015 - Win 10 public release July 2015.
All are Version 10.0.10586.0
System Device - High Definition Audio Controller
System Device - Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator
Sound, Video and Game Controllers - High Definition Audio Device
DVD / CD ROM Devices
Speakers (High Definition Audio Device)
Microphone (High Definition Audio Device)

Can I use the "Dell Command | Update" tool to update all Drivers?
Thank you.

I went to the Dell product page for my computer - Dell XPS 8500, and ran the scan to check for updates.  3 updates, one of them for BIOS.  I ran the updates and initiated the BIOS update.  Midway through it appeared to get hung up and my machine froze.  I left it for an hour, came back and still no luck.
So I rebooted the machine and of course now it won't boot up.  I have power and can hear the fan, but no lights on the box and no screen input.
Looking though the manual and on this forum, I've tried resetting the BIOS jumpers, and removing the CMOS battery.  When I rebooted I saw lights on the box this time but it shut down after 30 seconds, and now back to the same problem.
From what I read on this forum I'm SOL unless I buy a new motherboard.
Just thought I'd check if anyone had any other suggestions.  If not, where can I get  a new motherboard for this?  The product page for my model doesn't list it as an option...

Thanks for your help!

A:Failed BIOS update - Dell XPS 8500

When did your warranty expire? If it expired less than 6 months ago, you might be able to get Dell to fix it, assuming they can get the board. They had a policy to replace a board -one time only- if it failed a Dell BIOS update within 6 months after the end of warranty. I don't know if that policy still exists.
Those are all different revisions of the same motherboard. I don't know what the differences are. They could be as simple as a different supplier for one of the components on the board all the way up to a change in the circuit layout.
Maybe Dell Spare Parts can tell you about the differences among the 3, or at least tell you which is the most recent revision,  even if they don't have the boards available...?
All three support the H77 chipset which is a key issue.
Look at your motherboard for the sticker to see what version you have now. If you can't find out about specific differences, you may want to get one that's the same version, assuming it's one of the choices available.
You should look elsewhere if Impact doesn't have the revision you want and/or for price comparisons. And always ask if the board is new, used, refurbished and about the warranty.

Using Dell Command Update on my XPS 13 9350, the Intel 100 series chipset driver ver. keeps coming up as a recommended update and after installing it, and then checking again for updates, it comes up again as a recommended update, so the installation is not succeeding.  Having said that, it now appears in the update history (in the Command Update app) as having been installed 3 times, so what gives, Dell?

Hi, I have repeated experience of failed BIOS firmware update on Dell e5570. More precisely the part
"Sending Intel (R) Management Engine Firmware Update" always hangs on 100% and never finishes.  The annoying thing is that laptop cannot be shutdown via power button (even with the long press) and I have to wait hours till my battery dies :-(
Im trying to update BIOS from 1.6.3 to 1.7.3. In the end, I have 1.7.3 BIOS version, but Embedded Controller stays on A07 instead of A11 so I got my PC into middle of versions :-( First broken thing I noticed is WiFi always turned off after wake from sleep or after startup.
Dell support, please help. I need new BIOS (and Embedded Controller) to resolve some NVMe and other issues with the laptop.
Thanks, M.

I just got a used M4600, and the currently installed bios is A08. When I try to update to A16, it restarts, says it's updating firmware, but fails at 0%. It gives no reason, and no error code as far as I can tell. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide.

A:Bios update failed - Dell Precision M4600

That is NOT the issue! There is nothing wrong with the M4600 motherboards per se.
Everybody has been trying to find why when trying a BIOS upgrade, the system immediately fails with a basic "BIOS Update Failed" and no specific error code or more explanation. The answer is in the PDF document below - that is the message displayed when BIOS authentication fails!
You just have to look up the Dell Signature Firmware 'feature' that was introduced into a number of laptop incl the M4600.  Download PDF doc. That was a feature introduced per NIST requirements.
In a nutshell, they changed the way BIOS authenticates a BIOS file before it will use it to update the BIOS & EC firmware. The M4600 is in the list of "Legacy Systems" where this was introduced. Basically, these systems did NOT have the Signature Firmware when produced.
Version A04 introduced this feature. After you install that, you will have an option to turn the Signature Firmware requirement On (default is Off). Once turned On, it can NOT be turned off!
The problem starts in BIOS ver A08. Something in the code is wrong. Because on some M4600s it updates the BIOS AND Activates the Signature Firmware requirement. After that, the system will NOT authenticate ANY other BIOS versions so you will NOT be able to upgrade past version 8!
I manage many, many systems for a company. I am currently sitting on 33 (yes, that many) M4600 with that exact same situation!

I have an older computer running XP Pro. It has IDE drives in it, well one hard drive. For some time it has been having trouble at shut down and I've just been ignoring it, but it's a pain and I'd like to know what's going on.

When you shut down it reboots and brings up the screen where it's discovering drives in dos and the error message:

Primary Slave S.M.A.R.T. command failed.
I hold in the power button and sometimes it will go ahead and shut down. Sometimes I could hold it forever and it'll just keep trying to reboot. I have to then pull the plug to get it to turn off.

Otherwise we have no problems with this computer.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I installed the latest round of Windows updates for my Win7 x64 install and it never completed (ran for about 24 hours) so I powered off the machine. Upon restarting, it said:

"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause" and has instructions for using system repair, then at the bottom:

File: \Boot\BCD
Status: Oxc000000f
Info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data
So I booted off a Windows recovery disk and figured Startup Repair would fix it. Alas, after it says "Windows found problems with your computer's startup options" and asks me if I want to repair, I click "repair and restart" and it says "Failed to save startup options".

The "repair details" are:
Name: {bootmgr}
Identifier: {...}

The following options will be added:

Path: Recovery\...\Winre.wim
Windows Device: Partition=D:
I've tried running Startup Repair from the manual options screen and it says it cannot repair automatically. I have two partitions, the 100MB windows System partition, which Recovery Console mounts as C:\ and my main windows partition, which it mounts as D: and I can see all of my files on it.

Hello smeraldan and welcome to Seven Forums.

My usual disclaimer: I'm not an expert at anything. Sometimes malware can prevent Windows Updates from installing. Run a full scan with your personal anti-malware suite. Then use the free Malwarebytes to run another full scan. (No anti-malware product is 100% effective 100% of the time. If there was such a thing we'd all be using it.)

Another possible problem is if system files became damaged or corrupt. I'd run a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two.) If problems are found run the scan 3 times rebooting in between each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

You could also try running the System Update Readiness Tool if you haven't already done so.

System Update Readiness Tool fixes Windows Update errors in Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows Server 2008

Try installing the updates again, but this time just do a few at a time (maybe only 5 or so.) Keep track of the KB numbers. Start with the critical updates, then the important, and save the optional for last. If a group of 5 installs OK go on to the next group. If any group fails to install you'll know which group to uninstall. Try installing just one update at a time. If they install OK go on to the next group. Otherwise just ignore the problem update(s) for the time being and continue installing in groups of 5.

Hi All -

I have a batch file that is SUPPOSED to upload a designated file to an FTP.

Everything APPEARS to work if you're not looking closely, but it doesn't actually work. The file can be seen on the FTP, but it has a size of 0.

I get this error after my put command: 425 Failed to Establish Connection

I've read up on this, and it sounds like some people get this error when they're not in passive mode. I'm telling it to switch to passive and, again, it appear to do so, but it apparently isn't sticking as when I get to my put statement, it tells me I should be in PASV rather than PORT.

I've attached a pic of my output... any idea what I'm doing wrong?? I'm new to the whole command line FTP thing, so it could be something really silly I'm missing.

A:command line FTP - 425 Failed to Establish Connection

I've now tried an alternate way of doing the upload using APIs rather than a Batch file... but I'm getting the same result. The file appears on the FTP, but the file size is zero.

This would seem to mean that whatever is happening is related to the FTP not respoding (or something) rather than to my coding?? But I still don't know how to fix it!!

I can transfer the same file to the FTP using a client like Filezilla with no issues.

Any idea where it's falling over??

Hey guys I can really use some help with a big problem that I've encountered.

I have a sony vaio with a genuine vista home premium 32bit installed. I also had a non genuine vista ultimate 64bit installed on a partition. I wanted to create a partition of a partition and couldn't due to some message about dynamic drive. I tried to partition it on Ultimate and it worked. After I restarted, i received a similar error that others got when I googled:

Booting 'Windows NT/2000/XP'

Booting 'Enter Command Line'

Then it enters GRUB dos. I checked my hard drive partitions with the geometry (hd0,0) command and none of them seem to be NTSF. They show up as 0x42 and one is 0x27 which I'm guessing is the recovery partition.

My guess is that since the partitions are not NTSF, I can't boot windows. I tried to repair and nothing helped. I reinstalled vista on a partition and everything was fine until the setup completed.

It seems like all my files are there and the windows repair on the vista dvd recognizes that there are 2 OS installed. I can't run the recovery mode on the vaio laptop.

This is weird because all the other games work fine, except for RA2 and RA2-YR. My OS is Windows Vista. If anyone can help me, either post a reply or email me at [email protected]

Navo

A:Command and Conquer the first decade error: string manager failed???

In Windows Vista, simply go to the application in the directory file folder and right click the icon. Then click "Run as administrator" (obviously you need to be logged on as the administrator to have this option available.
After you do this once, the game with start and from then on the game should start without problems.

Let me know if this works, have you tried running them in compatibility mode at all?

Hi everyone!

I'm having a pretty big problem on my laptop- I can't connect to the internet and when I try to connect in the network and sharing centre it simply says 'The dependency service or group failed to start' and I am unable to connect to the internet (Using wi-fi).

There's a lot more to it than that though.

Simply put, here is a list of the problems I am facing:
1. Can't connect to the Internet
2. Cannot change theme, stuck in basic (Themes are grey and do not respond when I click on them in the control panel)
3. Overall brightness of laptop screen has decreased.
4. When opening my anti-virus software (avast) it says that the software is off and I should click the fix now button to turn it on. However, when I click on it nothing happens.

Please note that this problem occurred when I was messing around with command prompt ( I booted windows 7, pressed F8 and tried to check weather I could launch a USB program through safe mode- command prompt). I figured out I had no idea what the commands were and tried using one of the few commands I knew- ms config. I may have changed settings there and this could be how it happened, I'm not really sure.

Thanks in advance to anyone who responds! (Keep in mind, I'm not very experienced with command prompt but have full knowledge of control panel options, computer, etc.)

A:The dependency service or group failed to start- Command Prompt

To me sounds like a virus or some malware got into your laptop.

tried to check weather I could launch a USB program through safe mode

What kind of program was that.

Try running your AV in safe mode.

When I then press OK it comes up with the following

Have deleted the program and reinstalled but still the same. Please Help.

Hi Mat,

How's your German?

If I understand correctly (and I don't even use a digital camera) you first need to clear the camera's memory completely after downloading the pictures to your computer.

I googled the issue and found that this could mean my system reserved partition is full and indeed that is what I found. My C: drive is a 500 GB SSD but the system partition is only 100 MB of which only 3 MB is free.

MS web page has a long convoluted command line "fix" for this ( but I was wondering why I couldn't just "shrink" the main C: drive partition and then "extend" the system partition using diskmgmt.msc.

Or is there a better way?

A:latest update failed - can't update system reserved partition

Hello Ray Lo,

Yes, potentially you can do this... But I would suggest backup of your SSD, before you try to do anything as such... WRT shrinking and moving partitions! Just in case!

One extra step enforcing security does no hurt, does it?

I would like to delete the failed updates list in Windows 7 Update.  I have done this in the past but forget exactly the process.
I think you go to Windows Folder-Software Distribution.  After deleting everyhting in the folder., i think you are to restart the computer.  Once finished the list of updates in Windows Update will be cleared.
Please correct if I am wrong.  Thanks in advance for your assistance.

A:Failed Updates in Windows Update. Want to clear update list?

This is the way I suggest :
Go to start > type in cmd > right click at cmd.exe > Run as Administrator.
Type in "net stop WuAuServ" without quotes > hit enter.
Type in "start %windir%\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore" without quotes > hit enter. A folder will come up. Don't close that black window.
Rename file "DataStore" to "DataStoreold" without quotes.
Go to that black screen, Type in "net Start WuAuServ" without quotes > hit Enter. After it finished you can close it.
Now your Windows Update logs will now cleared.
Thank you.

I have, or had a laptop purchased 9 months ago, therefore under warranty. Yesterday the ThinkVantage System Update recommended a BIOS update. After the traditional recommendations about what should not shut down the computer, the laptop is reset and started with the update.

During execution, displayed on a screen command, a message "ERROR XXXX. Press any key to continue." After press the key the laptop was freezedy was completely blocked. After an hour without seeing response and no sign of life, I decided to turn it off to confirm the disaster. The laptop was dead.

The laptop began to beep and would not start. Before the panic generated by the situation, I searched the forums where I found several cases that refer to the same problem and the insinuation that makes LENOVO about the customer's responsibility to avoid recognizing the warranty.

I was not looking for a BIOS update, it was recommended by ThinkVantage System Update, the software executed it and damage the equipment.

Besides being a damage caused by the ThinkVantage System Update, the situation gets worse when the answer given by support insinuates that the customer turn off the computer, so it is a CID (Customer Induced Damage) and therefore the guarantee does not cover it. I do not understand how LENOVO may imply that the responsibility of the customer. Really disastrous.

In conclusion, if you are not needing to make a BIOS update, it is preferable to omit the BIOS update messages given to ThinkVantage System... Read more

Further, I can't active Services.msc (Windows Modules Installer) to set to manual.

It must be possible to use sfc.

The buttons given were "Scan and repair" and "Cancel and restart" I did not press either and have come here seeking help. Please advise as to what steps I can take. Thanks a million in advance

A:Windows xp "a write command during the test has failed to complete"Missing Start Menu/Desktop Display Icons

1) Boot your PC into safe mode.
2) Delete c:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\temp\SoftwareUpdates.exe (do not double click/run it!)
3) Delete any suspect programs as c:\ProgramData\xxx.exe, i.e. rmIhrYfwFjUdy.exe or QFUDzzwTiL1aQy.exe. They had weird names, were launched from ProgramData, had no Description or CompanyName.
4) Empty the recycle bin.
5) Restart PC.
Think it will help you fix the problem.

these unfinished update will it became a trash on my computer or just simply gone?

how to delete these failed updates?

A:there's a lot of failed update on windows update history?

You don't delete failed updates - it just means that they didn't install at that attempt (possibly your connection got broken)
Go back to Windows Update again, check for updates again, and install ONLY the Security updates for Windows itself (not .NET, or IE etc.) , then go back and do the rest of the updates for Windows, - then do IE, and lastly do the .NET updates.

I'm trying to use the Dell Command | Configure version 3.1 to set PXE boot options on various Optiplex WS.  I am currently working with an old Optiplex 745 with the latest BIOS (2.6.4).  I can set the Admin password and the bootorder but when I try to use the following:
cctk --wakeonlan=lanwithpxeboot
I get the error "The option 'wakeonlan' is not available or cannot be configured through this tool."
Is this model too old to work with the Command | Configure software?  If I go back to the CCTK 2.2.1, will that work or are the two tools basically the same but just rebranded?
Is there any way to tell which cctk options will work on which Dell Optiplex and Precision WS?

I think I'm selling this thing to someone who knows how to fix computers and buying myself a new one. Thus, I need to restore it to factory settings. However, the Dell Image Restore option does not appear when I click Repair. Is there a command code I can use? I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit.

A:Dell Factory Settings isn't option - command prompt?

F8 at power on will access the Dell recovery partition (PC Restore). Does that not work? If not, a manual install will be required with a copy of Windows 7, 64 bit. You can download an iso and burn it to a DVD on a PC and use that and the Dell Windows 7 Product Code. You will need some Dell supplied drivers (at least Sound drivers) and you can get them at using the PC's Service Tag number.

Win 7 iso download links, get the exact same version as what you had. e.g. if you had Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit then get that iso. Official Windows 7 SP1 ISO Image Downloads

I have spent 3 hours on the phone with tech support my laptop has been out of commission since mid march. The laptop was serviced on-site once and at Dell's once both with the same result. THe original problem persists.
The problem: The battery won't charge. The tip of the power brick is lit leading me to believe that the brick is ok. Both times it got it back there was some juice on the battery that got replaced. but once that juice ran out, the battery does not charge again.
Of course now, the Laptop is out of warranty and I got routed to the out of warranty dept that promptly dismissed my call.
I've had Dells for the better part of 20 years and have had fine service, this experience has definitively tested my loyalty to the company.

My service tag is CPBKVZ1 the past service request number was 928616597.

I've had my Dell Insp. M5010 for about 2 years now. I really haven't had any problems with it at all. I keep all the software up to date (as far as i know), do regular antivirus scans and disk cleanup, and do auto defrag once a week. I don't keep a lot of pics or music on it and probably 90% of its use is strictly for web surfing.

Last night, I decided to run the Dell PC Checkup, as I hadn't done one in a while. It failed the SMART Short Self Test and the Targeted Read Test. From a tiny bit of research it appears that these are serious issues with my hard drive! It surprised me because as I said, I haven't had any obvious issues going on. It may have been jostled a bit being moved around which is the only thing I think could have caused the hard drive to become faulty.

Is there anything I can do about this other than purchase a new drive? What exactly should I look for when looking at drives? I know little about this sort of thing. Oh, and no, it's no longer under warranty.

I will provide all the details that are required once I get a response! Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

If you did not make the backup media to reinstall Windows you will need to purchase the OS disc. I do not know of any place to download Windows. Since you are in Greece you may want to contact Dell Support in your area to see if you could get a Windows disc if you are still within your warranty period. If not, you can search ebay for a Windows disc or other Websites that may have them available. The link below sells disc, but I am not sure if you could order from them and have it shipped to you in Greece.

I am going to assist you with your problem. Please refrain from making any changes to your system (updating Windows, installing applications, removing files, etc.) from now on as it might prolong handling your log and make the job for both of us more difficult. We need to go to the registry.Go to C:\Windows folder and find regedit.exe then rename it to copy.exe (to do that right-click regedit32.exe and select rename).Double-click copy.exe to run it. The registry editor opens. In the left pane navigate to the following sub-key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32
Highlight Drivers32 sub-key and under File menu select Export...Give a name like drivers32 and save the file to the desktop. You get driver32.reg on the desktop.Right-click driver32.reg and select Edit to open it and post the content to your reply. Delete driver32.reg from you computer.

well is there a command line to run in the start menu or schedule to force windows7 to check?

i know i can click on the update module to perform an immediately check
but i'm looking for a command line , or the name of program (exe) that start to check up

best regards

A:is there a command line to force to check up for update

To start Windows Update application from command line:

Notice: this only opens the update application and checks available updates. It does not install them.
To install important updates automatically from command line:

C:\Windows\system32\wuauclt.exe /detectnow

%windir%\system32\wuauclt.exe /detectnow
Automatic updates must be enabled in order to be able to use this command.

I have Outlook Express 6, Windows XP and Service Pack 2

When I receive email attachments, I can open, print or save the small ones. Whenever I get a large attachment (< 100K) and try to open, save or forward it, I get "Command failed to execute." The same thing happens regardless of what file type it is - .xls, .pdf, .doc etc. I have a large hard drive, 90% of which is available. HEEELLLP!

I have tried the following:

1. I have unchecked the box about not allowing potentially dangerous attachments
2. I have cleaned out my email of almost all documents with attachments
3. I have compacted the outlook folders

Any other ideas!? I am working on a large project and I need to be able to receive and manipulate these attachments!

Should I uninstall SP2?

Tried the following:
1. Update works if I bypass the router, ie. connect the PC directly to modem.
2. It also works from different ISP, through router (at work).

Last week I purchased a new desktop from The desktop comes with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit pre-installed and also came with a free copy of Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. Windows 10 came with the desktop in the form of a DVD that I have picutred here:

Does anyone have experience using the Windows 10 Pro 64-bit upgrade disc that comes with this desktop?

Here is the product page for the desktop:

I popped the included disc in, rebooted the computer, and then hit F12 to boot from the disc. The disc ran and I attempted to select the option to install Windows 10 and keep my files that are on the drive. It attempted to install but then stopped because there was a "partition missing". So instead, I then tried another option which was to wipe the entire drive clean and install Windows 10. That didn't work either because drive is locked.

Here is a link to an Imgur album I created: - This album includes photos I took of the Windows 10 install process so you can see what I am dealing with.

I considered upgrading to Windows 10 via the icon in the system tray. But I haven't done so thus far. I wasn't sure it was the best method. Will the Windows 10 upgrade I get from that be Windows 10 Pro? I'd feel more comfortable installing from the disc since they did give it to me afterall. And having a WORKING copy of Windows 10 on ... My system is a Dell Gen3XPS, 3.4Ghz P4, 3Gb Ram, Radeon X850xt 256Mb, Vista Home SP1.
I just purchased a Dell Ultrasharp 2408 WFP to replace the Dell Ultrasharp 2005 WFP that I have used for the last few years. There were no issues with the 2005, I just wanted a larger monitor.
When I hooked up the 2408, and started up my computer, I got a screen saying "Windows failed to start due to hardware or sofware change".
I have reinstalled the X850 drivers, set all controlls on the 2408 back to factory, tried an alternate DVI port, and reinstalled Vista compatable driver for the 2408.

I called Dell Support, and they wanted to sell me a new battery for my laptop and offered to fix my computer for $ help

Any ideas?
Thanks, Ronnor

I have a new (November) Dell Inspiron laptop, running windows 7 and it will no longer connect wirelessly. The modem is working, as I am presently connected directly to it. The router has excellent connectivity, yet when I try toconnect to the internet the connection is spotty, slow or not at all. I ran the intel Proset Wireless Tools and get the following message: Failed ping test. Default gateway, DHCP server. Attempted to talk with "Dan"the universal name for all male Dell techs but he said I didn't pay for the software warranty service but I could purchase for $239. Since I am skeptical about paying for something that turns out to be an unchecked box, I am trying this route.

A:Failed ping test. Dell Inspiron

Make sure you have the latest wireless driver from Dell's web site.

Please attach a screen shot of the Networks page (don't collapse the Radar, Connection or Signal History) of the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector. If you need help with that see TSG Posting a Screenshot. FWIW to take screen shots with Windows 7 or Vista I prefer to use the built-in Snipping Tool.

Also show ...

Open a (black) Command Prompt window:
Hold the Windows logo key and press r; in the Run box type cmd and click on OK.

Type the following command:

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

only just seen this, can I take it you have a Dell? This message is to do with the hard drive, it could have died, if a desktop perhaps a cable between drive and mobo has gone; it could be a problem with the mbr. If a Dell, do you have diagnostics on F12? If so run the extended test on the hard drive.

So I found this laptop Valkyrie CZ-17 17.3"

Full HD 1920x1080 LED-Backlit Display Laptop w/HDMI Port, E-SATA, USB 3.0,
Illuminated Keyboard, Li-Ion Battery

This is what I customized it at

Processor ( Intel® Core™ i7-3820QM Mobile Processor (4x 2.7GHz/8MB L3 Cache) )

Memory ( 32GB [8GB x 4] 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM [Laptop Memory] - Corsair or Major Brand

Video Card ( NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M 4GB GDDR5 Video w/ NVIDIA Optimus [CZ-17] )

Primary Hard Drive ( 1 TB 5400rpm Serial-ATA Super Slim Laptop Hard Drive )

Optical Drive ( 6X Blu-Ray-R/8x Dual Format DVD±R/±RW + 24x CD-R/RW Combo Drive [CZ-17] )

Operating System ( Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium + Office Starter 2010 (Includes basic versions of Word and Excel) - 64-Bit )

USB Ports ( Built-in 2x USB 2.0 Ports + 3x USB 3.0 Port [Laptop] )

Video Camera ( Built-in 3.0 Mega Pixels Digital Web Video Camera )

My question is the difference between DDR3-1333 memory and DDR3-1600. Then the harddrive, I can get a 1 TB 1 5400rpm Serial-ATA Super Slim Laptop Hard Drive, or pay $400 extra and get a 480 GB Kingston HyperX 3K SSD Single Drive.

I'm not planning on gaming with this laptop, I just want something that can handle a lot and last a while. This laptop is priced at $1900 through IBuyPower.

Am I avoiding the motherboards that have the Nvida chips in them? I was told thats why my motherboard failed was because of that chip.

A:Dell motherboard failed, replacement laptop

RAM speed is dependant upon the motherboard chipset and cpu. But you aren't likely to notice a difference between those two.

HDD/SSD - depends on how much space that you need for storage. If the laptop supports two HDD's, then simply get a smaller SSD for the primary drive and you can add a second HDD later. Otherwise, for the cost involved, I would simply keep the standard HDD.

There is no reason to avoid nVidia.

Recently I bought the Dell Inspiron 7559 (gaming one).
It has the option to add a SSD drive. I bought a m.2 SSD 256gb drive from Plextor.
See link for the version. The BIOS and Windows both don't recognize the SSD.
I have put it in and out several times. Updated BIOS / Resetted BIOS. It just won't recognize it.
Do I have to tweak any settings in BIOS for the SSD slot to "activate"?
I thought this was a plug and play thing. How can I get this to work?
Note: I also have my HDD still plugged cuz it has everything on it (windows etc).
I want to convert windows to the SSD if it CONNECTS EVER.
Help would be appreciate SOOO MUCH.

Thanks in regards.

A:Dell Inspiron 7559 m 2 SSD upgrade failed / not recognized

That's a PCIe SSD -- this system supports mSATA (SATA 6G), not PCIe.  You'll need to exchange the drive for an M.2 SATA/SATA6G version.

I was downloading drivers on my dell opitplex 780. I decided to upgrade my bios from A08 to A15, since it was the only bios update. When i accepted the update to restart and begin the flash, the screen would not turn on and the desktop stayed powered on for an hour before i unplugged it. After that every time i turned it on the the same thing would happen:the screen would not turn on and the desktop stayed powered when the power was plugged. After researching, i removed the motherboard battery for a few minutes then replaced it. I did not see a jumper. When i restarted i the COMS had reset and i was able to get to "starting windows" but i barely complete before a blue screen appear and it restarts. Does any one know how i can fix this issue? I was updated my bios to see if it would take more updated memory.....i guess not. Oh and with either original or new memory it does the same thing. Sorry for the long explanation.

I got to the recovery screen and when I type in "D:\copy C:\"(that's where my file is located on my usb drive), So that I can copy it onto the C:\ Drive to resolve my error, it just says "The file could not be copied". Is there anyway to get to copy onto the C:\ Drive?

Here are a couple of pictures of the error, and my Dell Mini10v with the flash drive in it. failed! dell mini 10v. no cd slot, Using USB drive

when you get to the D:\> prompt do a dir command, can you see the files on the flash drive?
It would be best if the ntdetect file was the only file on the drive.

I'm outside my warranty. What options am i looking at? :(   Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 with Windows XP Professional. When I turn it on, a black screen appears with one of the following messages:

Read failure on internal hard drive. No Bootable devices.
Internal hard disk drive not found. Internal HDD Hard error!
Both messages are followed by two options: F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility. I went to the setup utility, which said "none" after the hard drive option.

I tried to log on in Safe Mode, but no luck (tried with the F8 key and the control key). I tried the F12 key and was able to do the diagnostics test. The computer passed every test except the DST. The test showed the following information:

Device: Hard Drive
Test: Start DST Short Test
Status: Error Detected
Test Results: Fail
Error Code; 1000-0141
Msg: No drive detected
I read previous posts on this subject, which suggested trying a winxp CD boot. Unfortunately, Dell did not provide me with such a CD. The Dell guide says you can just do a "System Restore." (But if you can't log on or get to Safe Mode, you can't do a system restore.)

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Or where I can buy a winxp CD? My laptop is no longer under warranty, so I am trying to avoid calling Dell.

Thank you very much for whatever suggestions you might have.

Hi everyone,
First of all, please excuse my English ;)
Someone gave me his former laptop N5010, the HDD was broken. I spent some money to buy a SSD and to upgrade the RAM, everything was working fine, and I don't know why I tried to update the BIOS...
I downloaded the A15 version on the Dell website, started the EXE file, and while updating from A4 to A15, the screen went black. I waited for a long moment and decided to remove the battery.
As a result, now the laptop is not working anymore.Black screen with beep while "booting".
I followed many "tricks" to recover the bios, they were all marked as solved for everyone but me, this one for exemple :
I extracted a rom file from the EXE bios update with Windows CMD prompt C:\BIOS.EXE /writeromfile , with Phoenix Tool I created a bootable USB, put the BIOS.ROM (renamed BIOS.WPH) on the flash drive, removed the battery, plugged the flash drive, hold the end button while plugging the AC cord ... But nothing interesting happened ...
I tried this solution from Dell's community :
Still not working...
So, if you have any ideas, it will really help me.
