I have an Asus X200MA notebook that I've recently installed a 256GB SSD on. First I cloned the existing hard drive, then I installed the SSD.

Behaviour
Unfortunately when the computer awakes from sleep or when I power it up cold, it opens up to the bios. Very annoying. It will not leave the bios until I press f10 to save new settings: If I try to leave the bios without saving new settings, it will simply reboot to the bios screen again! When I press f10 to save settings, the computer will then let me boot into windows 8.1

I've tried the following to rectify this:
(1) Upgrading the bios
(2) In the bios I've disabled secure boot and enabled CSM. The SATA is set to AHCI.
(3) Advanced startup -> and when it reboots I've chosen Troubleshooting -> Change EMFI. In the bios I've tried to create a new boot record... it doesn't seem to recall this each time it boots cold.

Uggggg.

Not sure if this is the right place for this since this laptop is a Gateway and not one of those listed.

My parents have a Gateway Notebook, model# MX3416, that is a little over two years old.
http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/Q106/Bishop/1013920Rsp2.shtml

They had never updated any drivers or BIOS so I decided to do that for them. They had upgraded to Vista from XP and the Gateway site had drivers and a newer BIOS. The drivers updated fine but the BIOS didn't apparently. It had a Winflash utility that installed all the blocks and confirmed the installation. It restarted and now the computer only gets halfway throught the initialization and hangs after initializing the mouse, at least that is as much as it shows on the screen.

Is there anything I can do short of replacing the CMOS/BIOS chip if it is removable or the motherboard?

Any suggestions to help me resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated. I contacted Gateway Tech support but since the laptop isn't under warrantee anymore, they refused to help me.

Thanks.

I called dell they told me in not so many words my motherboard was Fried and they would not replace it.

Dell just saying it's a "possibility" the motherboard might need to be replace. No one can tell you that motherboard is definite "Fried" without first looking at the system.

Computer failed during upgrade of bios. I have followed all the steps to recover bios: taken out battery, pressed windows + B + power, restore screen appears. Computer goes thru bios restore process and verification. When it gets to the 'count down to windows start up' and 'continue to restart button', the computer freezes and does not restart. I have pressed the continue button, nothing. I have let the count down continue and it stops at 1 then nothing.

I have posted a few questions regarding getting samsung 950 pro (NVME M.2 ssd) to be recognized quickly on boot by ENVY 750-170SE cto rom family id #2b4b and it hasn't been resolved.  I am pretty sure that HP will need to create a newer bios than the a.08 version that i have or the lower versioned number a.07 which is available from HP's website (even though it has a newer date than a.08 (this is really strange))  -  How do i go about getting HP to release a beta or final bios that shortens my boot time by 3 minutes?  Am i posting in the wrong area, if so where do i post?  I am not alone with this problem.  see SpearfishX post #21 - and i am unable to post in this forum, it needs to be reopened and addressed - http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Envy-750se-capable-of-M-2-NVMe-u...

A:Bios Upgrade on HP Envy 750-170se CTO bios family 2b4b

@FrozenGamer? If your PC takes 3 minutes to boot in a factory condition then you should contact HP support. If your PC is less than 21 days old then quickly return it.  Without any modifications, your PC should be booting up in less than 30 seconds. I haven't seen any official HP posted information that supports NVMe m.2 SSDs.  Run the HP Support Assistant and see if it picks up a later BIOS update. HP's support number is 800-474-6836 or 800-HPINVENT or online here.

Dear All,
I have a question regarding BIOS upgrades as well as downgrades. First, about downgrading BIOS, is it a safe thing to do? If not, then what makes it not safe? I have Dell Inspiron 640M, with the latest BIOS A10. Not happy with this one due to high pitch sounds coming from the top right hand corner of the laptop. It's been suggested that I downgrade only a couple of revisions back, namely, to either A09 or A08. However, Ive been getting conflicting reports about the safety of downgrading from Dell Tech Support. Some say that it's not done at all, others say that as long as it's only to downgrade back to a couple of previous versions, then risks are not as high as going all the way back to a really early version, such as A03 etc. The risks, I'm told, is in the performance of hard disks. Apparently, if you downgrade to a really early version such as A03, then problems will arise, though I'm not sure what the exact problems are. Moreover, there are those who say that there is no procedure for downgrading and that it is never suggested to anyone to downgrade their BIOS. The notion that it becomes riskier as you downgrade back to a really early version of BIOS such as A03 baffles me, because in my case, prior to doing any kind of updating for BIOS on my laptop, I had version A03, and have not had any kind of improvements, enhancements done to my computer whatsoever. in other words, my computer is the same as when I got it last year in terms of ha... I have the Dell Inspiron 518 desktop with 64 bit Vista, and attempted to update the BIOS to version 1.0.7 last evening.  I closed all open programs, disabled anti-virus, and ran the BIOS update as administrator.  The update began and asked if I would like to update from version 1.0.5 to 1.0.7, and I clicked on the update button.  The BIOS flash began by deleting the previous BIOS and then attempted to install the new 1.0.7 BIOS but produced an error message similar to "error writing BIOS to block," an the only option was to cancel the update.  I knew I did not have any BIOS installed at that point, but my computer was still operating so I made an additional attempt to re-download the 1.0.7 BIOS and re-install it.  No good, it would not even run now.  There was no turning back and no way to reinstall either the previous BIOS or the new one.  Eventually I tried to restart the computer, and it would not start.
Dell is sending a tech next week to replace the motherboard on this otherwise great computer that is only about two months old.
DO NOT upgrade the BIOS on a Inspiron 518 with 64 Bit Vista to version 1.0.7.  The upgrade does not work and will kill your motherboard.

A:Dell Inspiron 518 BIOS v1.0.7 64 Bit Vista DO NOT UPGRADE BIOS

No it happened to me too.  Dell is replacing the motherboard under warranty but I was told somewhat firmly not to update the BIOS unless advised by a technican.  In my defense the BIOS update was listed as "recommended" under the download section for this unit on the Dell support website.
I would recommend to avoid two phone calls (over 40 minutes each) to tech support and several days waiting for a new motherboard, not to update the BIOS at this time.
Thankfully it is being covered under warranty.

hi there, i am fixing a friends old computer and the hdd was stuffed so i got a new maxtor diamondmax 9 for it. although once installing it i found out that it would only run in udma2 mode (checked it in another computer and it ran at full udma6)
so i suspect that the current bios cannot support udma5 or 6, so i am looking for a bios upgrade for it.
the bios string is 6A69RPRDC-00, the number on the actual motherboard is 35-C960-00-05
thanks for any help, i am really hoping i can make this board work at udma5 at least and not have to settle for udma2.
thanks again

A:help with updating bios. cannot find bios upgrade - 6A69RPRDC-00

WOW..............

Old Machines.....(just like me... but can still perform to the max lol)

I your Bios has the option of udma up to 6 then generally the bios supports the Mode! and your problem is that the HDD does not support the mode (cant remember if you said it does).

You are probably using wrong criteria for bios upgrade search.
Try WWW.driverguide,com

You Need the MB's Manufacturers Name or at least the MB Chipset and bios Manufacturers Name as well. go to the Computers muanufacturers website (you probably done that already) and search model.

otherwise Download a System info utility from Tech Spot, I use SiSoft Sandra or AIDA32.. (sandra might cause bluescreen on older machines).. Aida problably will have link direct to bios update site. hope this was of some help

I updated the bios after I had notified from Toshiba about the Bios v3.50. The process was done by the Toshiba Utility software, and after the reboot there is "Password =" on a blank screen and it not recognise my BIOS password, writing "Not certified".

I have also tried the HDD password but no luck.

What can I do now?

A:Satellite Z30-A-12R BIOS password not recognised after BIOS upgrade

Hi

Before trying to update the BIOS, all passwords should be removed!
BIOS password can be removed by authorized service provider available in your country.

But the unknown HDD password cannot be removed anymore.
In such case the HDD isn?t accessible and cannot be used.

Sorry mate but in my opinion you have only one chance to get the BIOS password removed; you need the ASP assistance.

Yesterday, I clean-installed Windows 8 Pro x86 on an old Dell Vostro 1400 laptop which had been running Windows 7 Ultimate, and it activated and ran fine, without even a single exclamation point in Device Manager. I applied the update necessary to make the Store offer 8.1 and proceeded to install it as I've done on a couple other machines. After downloading the thing, it errored out with:

Couldn't install Windows 8.1

Contact your PC manufacturer to see if you can upgrade the System BIOS

When I clicked the OK button, it then gave me the informative and grammar-challenged error box:

Something happened and the Windows 8.1 couldn't be installed. Please try again. Error code: 0xc1900104

Try again Cancel

Ever the optimist, I clicked Try again, and of course, it proceeded to download all over again from scratch, only to error out in the same way. I then downloaded all the Windows 8 updates, although just the one had been necessary on my other machines that successfully upgraded to 8.1, and tried again, only to get the same result.

Today, I've discovered the Windows 8.1 Compatibility Assistant, which avoids the lengthy download of the upgrade every time (Microsoft, maybe you should run it implicitly before downloading 3 GB of transient data), and it tells me:

Hi. I had some problems with this notebook not turning on correctly after each shut down. It would hang with artifacts at Windows startup. After a restart it would be ok and would not do the same until a shut down or sleep event occurred. This made me think that it could be something wrong with the BIOS not waking up something correctly.I had the latest V20 BIOS already on the notebook, so I tried to flash older versions with each of them failing (now I realise that it says next to V20 on the download page that you can no longer downgrade after you install it, so that was the reason) and one of them actually corrupted the BIOS, although it said it could not flash it.After that fail, when I turn on the laptop I get a black screen, fan working, and Caps Lock flashing 1 on 1 off indefinitely without beep codes. Now I'm trying to enter Crisis Mode by pressing Win+B and Power at startup, bun nothing happens, it starts normally and Caps Lock intermittent flashing continues. No matter what I do, it does not seem to search for a BIOS on the USB drive that I plug in.Does anyone know how to unbrick this notebook model? It's such a shame, because it's in an immaculate shape. Thank you all!

First and foremost, thank you to all who read this and offer suggestions. I'm an old hand at building and repairing desktops, but don't have a lot of experience with laptops. So I truly appreciate the help.

Here's the problem...

My wife tried booting up our HP notebook, but it didn't seem to do anything. She tried again, and noticed it shut itself off... she told me about it after trying a few times -- not sure how many.

HP G61-327CL Notebook PC will not boot. Will not enter BIOS utility much less get as far as the Windows splash screen. Indications are:

- SCREEN BLACK
- FANS ON.
- POWER LEDS ON.
- WI-FI LED ON (AMBER).
- BATTERY POWER LED ON.
- BATTERY LIGHT LED (LIGHTNING BOLT) ON.
- HARD DISK DRIVE LED OFF
- CAPS LOCK AND NUM LOCK LEDS BLINK TWICE, THEN REPEAT INDEFINITELY.

When I checked the HP support site, the blink codes seem to indicate a corrupted BIOS. But if that's the case, the computer should restart and try to restore/repair the BIOS, then restart again normally. Unfortunately, this isn't the case -- it just continues the two-blink cycle indefinitely.

One source I found suggested pulling the BIOS battery to force the BIOS to reset back to factory defaults. (After unplugging the power supply, disconnecting the battery, and pushing the power button for 15+ seconds to drain all residual power). So I tried it. Unfortunately, it didn't work. Still have the same indications as before.

**NOTE: I should mention the battery on the notebo... Read more

The backlight for the screen turns on, and the LEDs on the keyboard still work, but there is nothing displayed on the screen. When I press a key upon powering the machine on to enter the BIOS or view other startup options I get a small message down the bottom corresponding to the key I pressed (eg. "F10...BIOS Setup Options") but it does not actually display the BIOS or allow me to make any changes. The only other thing I can do is press CTRL+ALT+DELETE which seems to successfully restart the machine, but again nothing displays. There is a brief buzzing sound when I power the laptop on, although it's possible that has always happened and I never thought anything of it before. I have tried a hard reset and tried all sorts of variations of keypresses and resets to no avail. I'm not confident in opening the cover and poking around at the internal components, but I will give it a go if it has a reasonable likelihood of changing the situation. Thanks for any help you can give. Ken

Hy, I have now spend more then 20 hours searching for a solution to reset my bios password. I forgot the password as it my old laptop and I need to login to bios to adjust few things. First thing I did was pulling out the cmos battery, the date and time is reset but bios password survives. I tried unlock 6 based on my system hash code 03377 with no luck. Does anyone have any suggestion what else could I do ?

Thanks

There is a password that cannot be reset by normal means built into the CMOS as an anti-theft measure. There are options on how to reset this password but it is tricky. The best thing you can do is to contact HP support to get it reset.

I have two questions for you. 1. Can you identify your notebook with its product name or product number?- see This HP web document if you don't how to locate the model number and\or product number. 2. Are you having a problem updating the BIOS by using a recommended HP BIOS softpaq? The way you posed the issue in the subject isn't quite clear.

Hi....I hope I'm in the right place. Please forgive my being so technologically "handicapped" and for this being such a long one. I'm trying to find out if I need to update my BIOS or not. All of this started because, for no apparent reason, my touch screen stopped working, sometimes dots come/go, popping up all over my screen beginning at startup while the internet, if I go there during this time, appears to take on a life of its own. This is because the mouse pointer does it's own thing, clicking where ever it wants.  Also during these "fits", the Windows icon in the taskbar on my desktop disappears and I have to just hold down on the power button to shut down. (Is that called a "hard reboot"?).Does any of this even pertain to my needing a BIOS update?According to the information I provided, "Software and driver results" from the HP Customer Support website indicated that there is a BIOS update," F.19 Rev.A"for my particular product and model number. According to my System Information, I currently have "Insyde F.18". When I checked on the HP Support Assistant that came with my notebook however, and it says I only need one update which is for the "HP Wireless Button Driver", whatever THAT is.I'm so confused about so much and I hope this makes sense to whomever can help me.  Thank you, in advance, for any advice you can give.Julie

A:Notebook CPU upgrade

I strongly suggest you forget about the idea. The difference isn't worth the trouble of the conversion, and it's frequently very difficult to swap processors in laptops. In general, if you gain less than a 1.5:1 improvement in processor speed, you'll notice very little difference in visual performance.

Hey Everyone,

I'd like to upgrade my Notebook hard drive to an SSD, what are some of the things I should be looking for to upgrade successfully, and will this affect my Windows 10 License?

Thanks
Bill

A:How do I upgrade my notebook to an SSD

For some people, upgrading a notebook to an SSD may be like diving into the deep end of a swimming pool. An SSD upgrade may involve extensive disassembly of your notebook, depending on the model. Some models have hard disks that are easier to access than others. There is the small, but important detail involving accepting the risk of damaging your notebook and violating the warranty. You will need to decide whether you want to migrate your OS to the new SSD or perform a clean installation of Windows. If you have already upgraded the notebook?s OS to Windows 10, your notebook will have a digital entitlement on the Windows licensing servers. That is Microsoft?s new licensing model which makes activation of the OS a seamless process. In the part of the installation where you see a box to put the twenty-five-character license activation key, there is a link below it that says, I don?t have a key.     That is what you should click on to continue the installation. The type of SSD that will be compatible with your notebook depends on a few things. The first is how recently your notebook came to market. The second is whether your notebook is an entry level or a high-end model with advanced features. The third is dependent on the interfaces present on your notebook?s system board. Your notebook may have only SATA ports or it may also have an M.2 or mini PCIe slot.  Older notebo... Hi Guys,
Hoping someone here can help me with some ideas for fixing my problem.

I have a Toshiba A70 notebook and the thing wont boot up and it has had various other issues like the power jack was broken. I ordered another motherboard and replaced the motherboard. I also have tested the locked screen and connections on another identical computer. I also tested the keypad and touchpad on another notebook and they all work fine.

I have also tested the hdd and optical drive and they work no problems on the other notebook.

In desperation I swapped out the processor for another one I had and same problems. The processor in there was a 3.0ghz processor and the one I swapped it for is a 1.8ghz.

So I turn the unit on and the light around the power button goes on and the fans and drive sound as though they are spinning up and three seconds later it goes quiet as normal. On a working computer this is when the Toshiba splash screen will come up but nothing is displayed. I tried using a torch to see if it was the backlight and I have confirmed that the lcd unit as a whole works. I also tried the vga adapter and an external monitor and same.

So if anyone is familiar with this issue or has any suggestions then they would be greatly appreciated.

Some Information.

Ram is on board
No ram in slot.
Lcd screen works on another computer
Hdd works on another computer
Motherboard battery is soldered to board, not tested.
keypad and touchpad work on other screen.

Did it work before you put in the new processor?

Does it work if you put back the old processor?

The problems you are facing are probaly a result of whatever you changed. You could need to flash the bios to handle the new processor.

But it does sound like a LCD Backlight problem but you confirmed it's not.

Try checking the processor compatability.

Hello at all,

my second posting and istantly an urgent one
I am owner of this Notebook: Medion MD 2804 - FID 2060++
Yesterday I made a bios update, downloaded the original(!) Medion update file
from medion.de. After writing the files on CD-RW (with verify) I started the update procedure in neat DOS mode.
The "f.bat" file did start the flash update without any question or backup of the original flash bios.

Then after a successful update with green requester, I turned the NB off and back on... and get nothing but a black screen! The only thing what is running is the green power LED and both fan, nothing else.

Do anyone have this notebook as well? If this is the case, could one please make a bios backup for me? Would be very nice !
The bios file can be read out like this:
Code:
phlash16 /bu biosok.rom
I would be very happy about some help

Thanks ahead
Sascha

After update and restart (update wich I presume included BIOS update), my notebook booted the windows for 5 minutes, then turned off in an instant. After that, when i pluged the power adapter the power led started to blink continuously (white light), and the notebook reused to start (no power, no other led', no nothig, just the blinking of the power light). I've tried to reset It (battery off, 15 seconds power button and all, I even removed the Bios battery). It's not the first time. The last time when It happened, the problem resolved itself after several days. The blink stoped and the window was booted în safe mode.If you have a technical solution please help me, because I can't wait for several days.Thank You!

Hi everyone,

System: Gateway NX570X Notebook / Intel MB & CPU/ Phoenix TrustedCore Bios

A normal boot in this laptops current state results in a stop just after POST when the OS should start. The system isn't locked or frozen as the FN keys still change things but there's no display and nothing happens.

I would like to attempt a force flash recovery of the BIOS but having scoured the net for weeks and dozens of email attempts to Gateway and Intel I have very little information as to performing this procedure. AFAIK there is no recovery jumper on this motherboard. I haven't read of any such jumper and have torn the laptop completely apart looking for one. So if you have any information about recovery modes on Gateway/Intel MB/ Phoenix BIOS I'd be very grateful to hear it.

Details and Progress:

I've read many posts that describe power-up key combinations that initiate a force flash recovery. I've attempted the combinations and techniques with no result on this Gateway. However, I began trying random combinations and believe I've found the recovery process but am unsure what the computer needs next. I tried holding WIN + R while powering up and got a whole different boot result. This time I get a black screen, no backlighting even, the fan turns on for a few seconds then off, the normal LEDs (power button, AC available, etc) come on.

I've tried dozens of configurations of bootable CDs and flash drives as outlined by other BIOS ... Read more

Hi everyone

I have a HP MODEL: DV6 1131ea. The other night when I turned it on it would not boot and all I got was a blank screen.  I cannot boot into the Bios.

I have been on the HP Website and tried the following:

1.  Removing battery and cables and pressing down the power button for 1 minute.  Then, replacing cables and booting.

2. Holding down the Windows key PLUS the B key and then the power key for 1 second and allowing the machine to boot into bios and restore the bios.   Those were the details I got some the HP website on my specific machine.

So, far nothing has worked.  I have heard it could be a problem with the motherboard.

Does anyone have any ideas?  Is it possible to boot into the BIOS from this situation?

Many thanks

I cannot remember my password to my hp pavilion touchsmart 15 notebook pc. How do i get to unlock or reset. It did not come with any cd's

A:How to reset bios on hp pavilion touchsmart 15 notebook pc

If you are referring to a BIOS power on password-entering the wrong one 3 times should give you a halt code. Post that code here.

My notebook is around a year old and in good condition - a few days ago the keyboard completely stopped working. I went through a lot of fixes and troubleshooting, and some of the symptoms really don't match what i am seeing online. For starters, the majority of the time it will not accept an external (USB) keyboard. Also, in order to be able to enter my password with a USB keyboard i have to boot the computer whilst holding Shift and Enter. Now the keyboard is being extremely temperemental, it isn't useable. Certain keys will occasionally work but not correctly, for example the 'T' key will operate TAB. So far i have done a full system restore, i have removed the battery and held the power button for around a minute, i have updated the keyboard driver and reinstalled it. I've been trying these things in different orders for the past 2 days and i'm not making any progress. The computer hasn't been in contact with any moisture, it hasn't been dropped.  The next step i am considering is updating the BIOS - i have no knowledge of this and wondered if this was an appropriate thing to do? Thanks for reading!

A:Notebook Keyboard not working - Bios Update?

Rturner9314 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! You don't say what Model laptop you have, but my guess is that it did NOT come with Win10 preinstalled.  Is that right? And if so, did it come with Win7 preinstalled or Win8x? Asking because MS recently pushed out their Anniversary Update and, as evidenced by LOTS of postings on the Win10 community forum, and here, that has been causing serious problems with folks whose Upgraded PCs worked fine with the older versions of Win10 (i.e., 10240, 10587) but not with this new version (14393).We can proceed once you provide the answers. And NO, a BIOS update is NOT going to address this problem; plus, unless you have a very new PC, there is no BIOS update available for it.Thanks

Hi, i purchased the HP Pavilion 15-ab150sa last weekend and have had lots of problems since getting it. Kept freezing and dropping WI-FI connection shortly after logging on. I found there were 6 updates needing running that wern't automatically showing until i scanned for them in HPSA. Its taken me 4 days to get most of the updates to actually complete and it seems to be working much better now however, I have one update for HP Notebook System NIOS Update (AND Processors) that keeps failing... Any ideas? Please keep it simple i'm not very good with technical info. :-) Greg

A:HP Notebook System BIOS Update (And Processors)

Hi Greg, Try the following. If the bios update is still running in HPSA, click the Stop button. Close HPSA, restart the notebook, then download the Bios Update from the link below and save it to your Downloads folder. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp75001-75500/sp75199.exe When the download has completed, close any other open windows and programs, then open your Downloads folder and double-tap the installer to start the process.  The actual flash will occur when the machine restarts - do not interrupt this in any way, even if nothing appears to be happening for a while - when it has completed, the machine will load into Windows as usual. Note:  If the option to Update shows as being 'blocked on this device', you will need to Contact HP regarding this. Regards, DP-K

I'd like to upgrade the RAM from 4MB to 8MB in my HP G72 notebook b20SA. I read mixed information. I'm sure HP's website says the maximum RAM for this notebook is 4MB - which seems small given that I can upgrade the hard disk to 1TB - but I'm sure I've seen suggestions that 8MB is possible.

Wife is picking up the new HP Notebook 17-x137cl (http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/c05309298.pdf),  armed with... Intel Core i7-7500U (2.7-GHz, turbo up to 3.5 GHz, 4-MB L3 cache, 2133-MHz, dual, 15W)AMD Radeon? R7 M440 R16M-M1-70 with up to 4096 MB of dedicated video memory (512Mx16 DDR3 x 4 PCs)16 GB DDR4 SDRAM (2 DIMM) I'm pretty sure Santa needs to bring her an upgraded GPU as that entry level AMD will just slow her down, cough-cough. What graphics card can this upgrade to?  That is, what are the specs/connections/what am I shopping for?  Do I just look at the AMD R7's for a fit?  How good of a GPU is too good where other components are just going to bottleneck the thing? Any advice is welcomed and thanks in advance.  BTW, I'm still on my 6+ year old Dv7, going strong for 6+years god bless it...

A:HP Notebook 17-x137cl GPU upgrade

Thanks for the quick reply.Never thought I would misunderstand the words "Switchable Graphics", but I never did get into geek speak. I would recommend that HP change the term to "Switchable Graphics But Not After You Buy It And Take It Home".

I have a friend with a toughbook laptop and we have taken it apart to the core to find that the cpu is a standard 2.8v socket 7 p166mmx pentium cpu. we cannot find jumpers anywhere and wonder if there is any way to upgrade this chip to a 2.8v p233mmx or to one of these low volt socket 7 p266mmx cpus.

We would like to put in a k6-2 but see no way of configuring the chip. These units came stock with 100-166mhz pentium laptop and standard cpus so there must have been a way of "jumpering" them to run each chip

Any thoughts?

Thanx

A:Panasonic CF-25 notebook cpu upgrade

Hmm, we just installed a pentium MMX 200mhz cpu and it works great but only at 166mhz like the old cpu.

There must be a way of reconfiguring the board with different multipliers as the laptop came with anything from a p100 to a p150. but the bios has no options for this and the motherboard itself does not have jumpers to change.

Any ideas?

Hi,I'm looking to upgrade RAM for this model - HP 15-af114AU purchased here - https://www.flipkart.com/hp-apu-quad-core-a8-4-gb-1-tb-hdd-windows-10-home-p3c92pa-acj-15-af114au-no... The max supported ram is 8GB (either 1x 8GB or 2x 4GB). The system already has 4gb, so is it better to add 1x 8gb or add 4gb? Would there be any compatibility issues? Would these modules be compatible? - https://www.flipkart.com/corsair-value-select-low-voltage-series-ddr3-4-gb-laptop-cmso4gx3m1c1600c11...ORhttps://www.flipkart.com/adata-premier-ddr3-4-gb-laptop-adds1600w4g11-r/p/itme4b2kyhnft6zy?pid=RAME4... I tried this but did not work hence cautious - http://www.amazon.in/Transcend-4GB-DDR3L-1600-LAPTOP/dp/B00B5LOOJG?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=...Thanks in advance

Method 1: Use a usb to sata cable and a cloning program for the simplest way to migrate your OS to an SSD. (see the image below)Method 2: Remove the hard disk from the notebook. Put it and the target SSD in a desktop PC in spare available SATA ports.    Cloning programs like Samsung's Magician, Paragon's Migrate OS to SSD 4.0, and Apricot's EZ Gig IV will allow you to shrink the amount of data on the legacy hard disk to fit on the SSD. The migration is normally seamless and simple and usually finished in about thirty minutes or less. The cloning software will prep the hard drive on its own with scripted powershell commands. Connect the SSD to the sata connector and the USB end to a USB port on your notebook. Invoke the cloning program you have chosen to use.  When the cloning procedure is complete, all that you will need to do is replace the original legacy disk with the SSD. Enter the notebook's BIOS and set the SSD disk to the top of the boot list. Save the change, boot to your SSD and enjoy the performance boost. You won't believe that it is the same notebook. With some notebooks, in order to allow the SSD to boot you will have to use the UEFI boot order and move the OS Boot manager to the top of the list.   Method 3: A clean install of a Windows OS. Windows XP, Vista, 7 , 8 & 8.1 to the new SSD. This can be difficult if the OS is Windows 8 or 8.1. Newer notebooks have the license activation key in the BIOS as a SL... Read more
