Hi I recently purchased a Tiny universal adaptor after having left my H.P charger in a different location which meant I was going to be without it for a week or so.The Tiny charger did not pass on any power to the laptop.. I have since got back the H.P charger which came with the laptop, and tried powering it up. Still nothing.  My laptop is one of the B&O line with a non-removable battery. Do I need to claim on the warranty and replace or is there an easy fix? ThanksWill

I'm using HP Pavilion 15-P001TX notebook (silver color).  Recently, my keyboard has started malfunctioning. Whenever I press N, B, PRT SC key it takes the input as delete key and that delete continues until I press any other key. Rest of the keyboard is working completely fine. So, I'm thinking to replace this keyboard and get a new one. How much would it cost to get the keyboard replaced at HP service cnetre without warranty. Any alternative solution will be highly appreciated.

Hi: Only a HP forum moderator can delete posts. All of the drivers, specs and manuals are missing from the support pages again. This happened earlier in the week too. Another forum member has reported the issue to the forum administrators, who will in turn contact HP, but since I am not employed by, nor do I represent HP, I have no idea how long it will take them to restore the missing data to the support pages. It being the weekend isn't going to help much either.

Hello, Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum. Welcome onboard! I am sorry for the issues you experience with your HP computer.  When you press the power-on button , does something happen ? Any lights emitting, any noise, anything ?  Please, review this HP official article about such an issue you experience now. Follow the appropriate steps that fit your case to attempt to fix the issue:>> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03515402 If you did try everything but nothing helped, I am afraid you will need to bring your computer (or ship it) to service - HP Authorized service center. I have the following notebook.

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 Proffesional x64.
I used the Asus CD to install all Asus stuff. Even the ones I don't need.

My notebook as two graphics cards. The default Intel Onboard card and the more powerful 1GB nVidia GeForce GT425M 1GB video card.
Before the upgrade (which was a clean install) when I played a game (left 4 dead2, call of duty: black ops) the notebook automatically switched from the Intel to the Nvidia graphics card. But it doesn't anymore.
I have read that my notebook used Nvidia Optimus technology to do this.
Although I can't seem to be able to solve the problem.

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

I bought my Pavilion dv6 laptop from HP in 2012 without the Blu-Ray option?  Can I switch out the dvd for blu-ray now?  If so, how do I go about it?

A:can I switch dvd for blu ray player in my pavilion dv6 (2012...

I will be needing the exact model number to find precisely the correct part but it is a piece of cake. Flip the laptop onto its back and there is a single screw either accessible directly on the bottom or inside the service bay. Remove the screw and the DVD drive slides out and you can purchase a Blu-Ray reader and DVD burner combo drive on eBay or amazon.com and slide that into its place, replace the screw and you are ready to go. You will need a Media Player which allows Blu-Ray playback if you want to watch movies. The price of all optical drives has come way down in the last couple years. 2 years ago a Blu-Ray drive would have cost over $100US but now it is likely to be $50 or under.  You can also rebuild your drive module using a generic Blu-Ray drive and swap over the mounting hardware and faceplate but there is just not much to be saved that way any more as the price of the full drives with all hardware and plastics has come so far down.  I will say that if you have a standard resolution laptop screen like 1366 x 768, the difference between a movie on a DVD and a Blu-Ray is hard to tell. Blu-Ray is noticeably superior at full HD 1920 x 1080.  Tutorial on finding exact model number: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c00033108

When the WiFi button (F12) is pressed the LED show red and a message on-screen briefly says "Flight Mode ON" and the network connection icon in the notification area shows a red X. - this is expected - however When I press F12 the on screen message does breifly display "Flight Mode OFF", but the LED stays orange and WiFi is disbaled. If I click the network icon in the notification area the panel that appears says Flight Mode OFF, WiFi (OFF). I simply cannot re-enable the WiFi with the F12 key. If I go to Computer->Properties->Device Manager, select the Wireless Adapter I can switch the WiFi back on by going to the Advanced tab and selecting Radio->Enable. If I do this the let then goes white and WiFi is OK. So what is going on - why can't I simply toggle the WiFi off and on with the F12 key. Why to I have to resort to the device manager to switch it back on again?

A:New HP Pavilion G6 - F12 switches OFF WiFi but won't switch ...

Solved my own problem - if it help others ....the WiFi Driver update dated 25/09/12 caused the problem in my case.Right click on 'Computer' select 'Advanced' and open Device manager. Locate the WiFi Adapter and choose the 'Roll back driver option' to restore the previous driver - worked for me. You think someone would test drivers better than this !!!

A:Re: hp pavilion 15 notebook Usb 3

Hi, It is great to upgrade system to Windows 10, but in the same time, series of issues occur, like the USB device issue. After upgrading the system to Windows 10, you find that your USB device cannot connect to your PC. You may need to plug your external devices like MP3, pen drive, printer, etc. to your computer through the USB ports. So it is very inconvenient that the USB ports don?t work properly. Solutions below may help you fix the USB port issue. Since your USB device works properly before you upgrade the system, the problem most probably is not caused by the USB device. But you can also plug the USB device to another computer. If it unfortunately doesn?t work, you can consider replacing the device. Following are the solutions to figure out the problem. Solution 1: Check if the problem is caused by power supply issue 1. Unplug the power supply and charger plug from your PC.2. Restart your PC. Connect your USB device to the PC again. Then you can plug the power supply.Solution 2:The Power Management would also be the cause of the USB problems. Windows is set to shut down your USB controller to save power by default, sometimes it won?t be able to power it back up. So try following steps to prevent Windows from ?managing? power to your USB controller or the devices.1. Open Device Manager.2. Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers branch.3. Double-click the USB Root Hub device, and click the Power Management tab. (if there?... Read more

Thanks

A:HP Pavilion notebook

wow that is pretty hot... does it always run that hot, or does it only run that hot when he's gaming, or watching a movie? could just be a demanding laptop, but then again you could take it to a PC specialist (comp usa or local computer shop) and get the powersupply checked out. dang if it's melting the tip thats pretty hot... My dad's apple powerbook gets up to 75 degrees celcius when he's just surfing the web and stuff, so hot you have to take it off your legs if you don't want to burn yourself. so get it checked out, might just be a demanding laptop.

Hello everyone,

It is my first post on that forum, so again - hello.

I do have some problems with my notebook - Acer TimelineX 5820TG with PQI S525 128GB SSD drive as a replacement for the oryginal drive.

After using it for three months, it started not to wake up from sleep, running extremly slow on startup, finally my graphics quality and performance in Starcraft II dramatically decreased to the point when even menu was "crippin".

I did reverted the system to the point after just drivers and Office 2010 were installed (+ skype + avira as well). Everything was running smooth for four days maybe. Again, SC2 got unplayable, and moreover, I have occasional BSODs (twice i think) during the GPU switching from ATI to Intel ( external to internal GPU).

A:Windows 7 64 BSOD on GPU IntelGMA/HD5650 switch - notebook

Hello there, well... i'm not on the BSOD squad but from what i see in the log, the cause of that particular BSOD is the Avira Antivirus and your Graphic Cards...

I also recommend to download the drivers from the manufacturer's website, in your case, go to:

Graphics Drivers & Software

And download the latest drivers for your notebook.

After that, uninstall your current ATI drivers, run Driver Sweeper to remove any leftover from the drivers, reboot and then install the new ones...

A:cannot update my nvidia graphics card in hp p001tx

If the operating system says that the installed driver is the latest driver available, believe it.  Do not update the driver from anywhere other than the HP support portal download section or by use of the HP Support Assistant.  Do not update the graphics driver from Windows Update or the NVIDIA website! Updating a driver for a notebook PC is not the same as for a desktop PC. Drivers for notebooks are generally specific to the notebook model and use a reference driver suppllied by the graphics adapter manufacturer that has been modified by the notebook manufacturer. Only update drivers when there is a new driver available from HP .

That is an important bit of information. I will try to help you. The drivers that HP has supplied for your notebook are at the following URL at the suport portal for your notebook.http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-15-Notebook-PC-series/6936226/model/7132... Click on the operating system you want the drivers for and then click on the update button to see what is available.

Hi I have an   HP Pavilion G6 2210sa withan Intel Centrino Wireless N 1030 wifi card,  runing Windows 10 x64 fresh installation Bios Version F.26 I am having issues with wireless connectivity. In device manager there are no error symbols. I can connect via ethernet with no problem. When I go into the bios F.26 and reset to default settings and start windows 10, The adapter functions fine and i'm able to connect to wireless networks. Upon restarting the laptop I'm faced with the original issue the f12 key changes to orange, and stays orange toggling from airplane mode to wifi mode. Windows trouble shooting suggests that the wireless capability is turned off. It suggests to turn the wireless capability back on using the function keys (F12). I do this and cannot connection to any wireless networks. I have prevented the computer turning off the wifi adapter power in device manager. Please could you suggest a solution?? Many Thanks in advance

I just reinstalled my computer with windows 7 64bit and I have HP pavilion dv7 6050ec with two graphic cards : mobility radeon HD 6770M and a generic Intel HD Graphics Family. Since I reinstalled the computer, I no longer have to option to chose what graphic card I want to use. Before this reinstallation I could just right click on the desktop and there was a option that said Switch Graphical units, but now there is nothing like that. And I have the latest drivers for both graphic cards and latest Catalyst Control Center and Direct X installed. And in device manager all drivers are installed correctly. So I have no idea what to do.
Please help

Have you looked in BIOS to disable the onboard video? I don't know where that option came from, I confess that I've never seen it. Otherwise, you could try and disable the onboard video in the device manager.

Hello, I seem to be having quite the issue with this laptop (apparently many others have this issue as well), I'm trying to get it working for a friend. name:  HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PCnumber:  QA668UA#ABAOS:  Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1 First thing I noticed was that there were zero Windows Updates installed and zero Restore points created. Nothing needed to be backed up file-wise, went to install Windows 10 and realized that it isn't free anymore, so scratch that idea. No audio has been able to play through the speakers through Windows. (though when I launched the HP BIOS Hardware Diagnostic Tool, I was able to hardware test the speakers, and they played audio, passed multiple tests) I've troubleshot every possibility I could think of that could cause something like this. Installed new audio drivers update (restarted, no sound). Installed some Windows Updates. No sound. Installed chipset utility, MEI driver, graphics driver, and display audio drivers. Restarted, no sound still. Installed HP BIOS updates, and HP BIOS EUFI updates, restarted, still no sound. Installed 230 more Windows Updates. No sound. Rolled back audio drivers, restarted, no sound. Installed older recommended audio drivers, restarted, no audio still... Installed HP Hardware Diagnostic Tool (was able to get audio to play through speakers during a hardware test in BIOS). --------------------- That lead me t... My HP Pavilion dv7-1014ca Entertainment Notebook is running incredibly hot. The fan is on pretty much all the time. The BIOS is fully updated and I've vaccumed the vents and the fan. I keep my laptop on hard, flat surfaces, and yet at times it's almost too hot to touch. the entire bottom section of the notebook will be remarkably hot. Any idea what the problem could be? I've also had moments when my notebook shuts down without any warning for seemingly no reason. Could it be overheating?

Hello.I am a student going into my first year at University. I have had my HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC for two years and slowly it has started falling apart. I take pride in looking after my things [phones, ipods e.c.t], but this laptop has seriously upset me, I used to have a laptop before this and it lasted for over 6 years. The corners on the HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC started to come undone and I used some tape to ease the weight when closing the lid but suddenly the two clips holding each joint came out and refuse to go back in and one of the hinges came out completely causing the laptop to be tilted and unable to close. I am extremely upset that this laptop is this fragile, I did some research and noticed that I'm not the only one with this issue and its seems to be common. I have seriously cannot afford to purchase a new laptop as I need to buy lots of books for University and also need a laptop to study.

I'm having a Pavilion  HP DM4 i5 ,  with 6 GB RAM installed. Is it possible to upgrade the RAM to 16 GB - which RAM-Modules do I need then? On the official documents the maximum RAM is 8 GB, but at the time, the documents were made, no 8GB-Modules were available. Does the BIOS support 8GB Modules? The notebook has two slots, so my hope is, if I replace the built in 2x4GB with 2x8GB, I'll have 16 GB of RAM. For what I need this? Running different virtual machines at one time for working. :-) Thanks for your help!

Hi All:
A few weeks ago I started to download DVDShrink from what looked like a perfectly legitimate company site. After I clicked to download the program it began to install itself. At the same time all kinds of alarms went off - Comodo, Malwarebytes, etc. - and I quickly shut down.
After booting up I ran a quick Mbam scan and it found 32 infected files which I deleted. I then ran a full Mbam scan and it found a bunch more. Later I also ran full Mbam and Avast scans but this time around neither came up with anything. I also used ERUNT to replace the Registry with a clean copy made earlier.
For a few days everything ran OK but then Firefox began to freeze up whenever I brought up a page with a Youtube video on it. Then other things started to freeze - Task Manager, etc. - and now it's reached the stage that the computer won't boot up properly at all. Almost everything is frozen. The computer won't even start in Safe Mode. At best it just brings up my mouse pointer (which is working) and my desktop wallpaper but nothing more.
Different Windows messages have appeared at times one of which said something to the effect that Windows was stopping to prevent further damage. There is a separate RESTORE section on the drive for restoring the computer to factory settings but I can't access it. Since I can't get into the computer to do anything at all I'm wondering if there's any way of being able to get the com... Read more

A:HP Pavilion Notebook Not Booting

Nice machine and configuration.
I would first try removing two memory modules, and attempting a boot with the third.. then if that doesn't work, change modules until you have tried all three.
It is difficult to trouble-shoot a machine like that... but we are seeing a LOT of ealy failures in the large laptops hard drives from 250 GB to 500 GB, so suspect that your hard drive might be bad. A good test would be to try any other known good hard drive from 80 GB on up to 500 GB... can you borrow one, then try to format and install it.
If still dead when you change memory and hard drive, it is time to get it back to HP for warranty work.
Anything you do that is not memory and not a hard drive will void your warranty.

Welcome
You dmps are showing code 116, and that can be a problem as small as a driver, but can be hardware, such as memory or worse
atikmpag.sys
You can update the driver.
If it is anything else it is most likely hardware related. Since it is new, you may want to exercise the Warranty. I know from past experience, too many changes will void the warranty.

Got this new laptop for Christmas.  It came with only 1 stick of 8GB Ram.  Went to BB and got a pair of 8GB DDR3 1600 PC3-12800 PNY.  Now my laptop overheats and locks up.  The only difference is the old memory stick was a DDR3L, the new memory is only DDR3. This memory should work, why is it not?

A:HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-ab292nr

There's the problem. No it should not work. I am surprised it boots and runs. The laptop is designed for low-voltage memory and you really should not use anything else on a 6th gen Intel Core processor. Did you ask the geniuses (oops wrong store) at BB what your laptop needed or pick it out yourself? Can you take it back and get DDR3L? Pretty sure BB stocks it. The Manual: Two SODIMM slots - NON customer accessible / upgradeable DDR3L-1600 Dual Channel Support Supports up to 16 GB of system RAM in the following con?gurations: Memory module (DDR3L-1600): 8-GB 693374-005 Did you pay more than $70.44 for what you have? https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Technology-1600MHz-PC3-12800-KVR16LS11/dp/B00CQ35HBQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=U...

Hi All:

Mr Bruce 1959 has suggested I re-post my problem here so here goes:
A few weeks ago I started to download DVDShrink from what looked like a perfectly legitimate company site. After I clicked to download the program it began instead to install itself.
For a few days everything ran OK but then Firefox began to freeze up whenever I brought up a web page with a Youtube video on it. Then other things started to freeze - Task Manager, etc. - and now it's reached the stage that the computer won't boot. The computer won't even start in Safe Mode. At best it just brings up my mouse pointer (which works) and the Windows Welcome screen but nothing more.
Different Windows messages have appeared at times one of which said something to the effect that Windows was stopping to prevent further damage. There is a separate RECOVERY partition on the D drive for restoring the computer to factory settings but I can't access it.

Pressing the F keys on startup bring up the following screens while pressing the ESC key on startup brings up a menu listing all five of thes... Read more

1. Please let us know what Windows version you have and if it's 32- or 64-bit.
2. Is the computer bootable in any mode?
Hold on there....

My HP pavilion does not take charging after 80% and sometimes the charging light starts blinking. It shows plugged in , not charging.

A:My HP pavilion 15 notebook does not charge after 81%

Have you tried a battery diagnostic either in the UEFI diagnostics (F2 as you power on) or in the HP Support Assistant running from Windows? Stopping at 81% seems like it may be a dead power cell in the battery. Can we have the full model number of the laptop and an idea how old the battery is? Original?

Hi, The following link shows it specs:     http://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c04781158 It has 2GB of dedicated video card and MAY (yes may) have up to over 3,000 MB of available system RAM (to make around 6GB). It can go up to 6GB when required, 4.1 is a snapshot number when you are looking at. Again, this number is not a fixed number. Regards.

It's a good sign when you don't even understand the "Choose Board" selections. My 3.5-year-old HP Pavilion g6 shuts down without warning. The Support Center has been WAY less than helpful. Hoping someone can help. THANK YOU.

I just purchased this notebook earlier this year and I'm disappointed to say that it is already no longer holding a charge unless connected to a power source. The charging icon also continues to stay in the same spot even after hours of charging. I'm not sure if a new battery would resolve this or not. Let me know what you think the best solution is! Thanks!! Katie

I have been using my HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-p174na for casual use (a couple of times a week, nothing strenuous at all) since I purchased it a year and a half ago. Yesterday I completed a spreadsheet and checked/sent some emails and then turned it off and put it on charge overnight. This morning I unplugged it and put it away. Then on getting it out to use again this evening I cannot get it to start. I have checked a lot of support pages and searches for the problem and have tried all solutions I have come across (hard resets, attempting turn on with and without battery and/or AV power cord). Nothing seems to work. There are no flashing lights or noises coming from the notebook at all. There also seems to be no damage to any of the cables or power equipment. Please advise what course of action I should now take.

Windows 10 upgrade very often messes up f11, recovery partition, etc. Once done only way to get back to Factory setup is booting from Recovery Media-either USB or DVD. Did you make your Recovery Media before upgrading?
