Issue Getting My HP Active Pen To Work

Q: Issue Getting My HP Active Pen To Work

I recently bought an HP Specte X360 and an HP Active Pen to go along with it. Unfortunately, I am having a tough time getting the Active Pen to work. The pen worked for a short time after I shut the laptop down, left it off for a bit, then turned it back on. However, the pen isn't working now. Any advice on getting it to work? Thanks!

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium edition on an Acer 64-Bit Netbook using Internet Explorer 8.
When I access a Web page that requires an Active-X download the download seems to install fine, but will not work. I have enabled all Active-X controls, shut down the Windows Firewall, disabled antivirus software, and shut off PopUp blocker all to no avail. Any suggestions?

Are you running the 32bit version of iexplore.exe (iexplore.exe*32), or the 64bit version (iexplore.exe) as seen by the task manager?

What can I do to get it work on ALL SITES!?
I went to 2 different sites tonight, and both gave me a pop up saying.
"Click to run Active X control on this web page."

And when I do, the Microsoft error box pops up saying. "Internet Expoler has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
And when I click that to close,my window(s) close to desk top!

I have had to problem for a while now,and it's really bugging ME!

Thank you for reading, and I hope your help.

A:Active X won't work on some sites!

First of all, you don't want ActiveX controls to run from all sites! That would be too dangerous. You should set them as follows so that you get prompted if you want to allow it or not.
Go to Internet Options > Security > Internet, press 'default level', then OK.
Now press "Custom Level."
In the ActiveX section, set the first two options ("Download signed and unsigned ActiveX controls) to 'prompt', and 'Initialize and Script ActiveX controls not marked as safe" to 'disable'.
Please do the following:

Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.

Good Morning,

Almost 2 weeks ago I got hit with the TrojanSpy:win32/banker and Trojan.win32.generic!. I had Norton 360 running, but it didn't catch them. I got Norton's support to access my computer and fix it. That cost $134.00. I had been playing Farkle on facebook and the support guy said that is how I was probably infected, so I have stayed away from facebook. Everything seemed to be work okay until a couple days ago. I completely removed Norton after doing a full scan (no bad things found) and installed Avast and did a full scan, nothing found again. So I went to PCPitstop to run their test and that where the problems begin. None of the programs that require Active X will work including gmail. I have been working with PCPitstop support, for 4 days and still have got nowhere. Everything was working ok, until I did the active X test they recommended. I have spent the better part of 3 days researching, deleting Nortons, adding Windows Essentials, deleting Essentials, adding Avast and installing, uninstalling PC Matic a half dozen times, that I'm about to wear out the hard drive. I have cleaned out cookies, temp files, and ran 3 full scans for malware and virus's from the 3 virus's companies and last, but not least I have tried IE7, IE8 and now IE9. Since installing IE9, I did get the Active X repair script to work finally, but according to Winpatrol it's still not there. After all this I still get error messages that Active X is... Read more

For my work I need to load Active Sync 4.5 on a laptop running XP Pro SP3. Is this possible at SP3 or do I need to remove SP3 and go back to SP2? If SP3 can stay on the laptop are there settings i.e Register or ?s that need to be changed?
Thanks in Advance

A:Does Active Sync 4.5 work with XP Pro SP/3

Well if you take them at thier word, it only works with SP2 or earlier versions and if you've tested it and it doesn't work with SP3, you're gonna have to go back to SP2 most likely.

I have a new Spectre X2 detachable.  I got an Active Stylus, from Best Buy, and it does not work with the X2.  At best I get random dots up and down the screen. Is this the right stylus for the X2?Is there a driver or calibration service needed to get the Stylus to work?  Does the Stylus touch need to be activated from Control Panel? Please help.

A:Active Pen Does Not Work with Spectre X2

I'm in the same boat as you, but I got my pen from HP (the HP Active Pen) with the notebook.  Turns out the Spectre/Pen are not compatible with each other.  Still no idea which needs updating, the Spectre or the Pen.

I am a college student and am looking for a fine tip stylus to take notes with. I find the average stylus with the rubber ball tip to be difficult to write with, as the tip is kind of bulky. I just purchased my R-15 this week and am wondering if there's an active stylus that would be compatible with the touch display.

I have purchased two HP Active Stylus Pens, the first from Best Buy and the second from HP.com.  Unfortunately I have not been able to get either to work with my HP Pavillion 360 13" Windows 10 laptop. The symptoms are as follows:  I pop the battery into the pen and move the pen towards the screen and . . .  nothing.   Nothing happens.  This pen is also supposed to have the ability to magnetically attach to the laptop screen but that doesnt happen either.  I does not show up in the Bluetooth devices as well.   I took the pen into Best Buy and had their tech support guy look at it and their diagnosis was that it was a bad pen.  All they could do was refund my money as THEY NO LONGER SELL THAT PEN!  GRRR.  So I logged on to the HP site and chatted with one of their sales reps to confirm this pen is compatible with my PC before placing another order, however I am still getting exactly the same results, which are a BIG FAT NOTHING.  The PC does not recognize it  at all.  What is even more frustrating is that I cant even call anyone beause the tech support line does not recognize the pen's product code.  I hope someone call tell me what I am doing wrong because I do long this pen and would like to use it.  Please advise

A friend has an old dell system that they are trying to put Itunes on for the new Ipod they bought. Itunes 7.6 requires SP2 but they have SP1 obvious issue there but when they go to the MS upodate/download site they get an Active X error. ("current security setting prevent you from running activeX controls on this page").
I went to the MS support site and tried the 2 options(altering the values in the registry) to correct the issue and I checked the "security settings" but same ActiveX error.
I was going to try to delete the IE registry entry to see if it will reset. If that doesn't work I have them download firefox
Dose anyone have any other ideas on how to correct this issue?

A:Active X and SP1 issue

Can you download the full SP2 and then install it? It may be a good idea to burn it to CD.

Can you help in following problem.
There's Windows XP in my computer.

Active FTP connections (where raw FTP command PORT is used) doesn't work in my computer. It's same, which is destination FTP server, and it's same which FTP client I use. Passive FTP connections (where raw FTP command PASV is used) work.

It's already checked that any actual firewall in the network, or my own computer doesn't block the connection. Despite of that the TCP packets, which FTP server sends to FTP client in active FTP connection, doesn't come to my computer. I've checked that with Wireshark.

Is some service missing from my computer?

A:Active FTP connections don't work in my computer

it's been my experience that the server you're targetting tends to determine if you have to use passive or not. Did you check if it for some reason requires it or is blocking the default port?

Hi, I am a complete newbie to window server though I had manage to install it without any real issue. I had put up Active Directory and get a client (xp) to join its domain and I'm really impress with what it' does since my purpose of wanting to use server was just for Centralizing our small company files. now here come the whole day headaches I wanted to apply the Group Policy's permission/restriction for each individual user to work with Active Directory but I' can't seem to get it right no matter how hard try.

Let say, User 1 (Clients whose connect to domain) can only access a specific Folder but not User 2 and User 2 can access a specific Folder but not restricted for User 1 , user 3 can't access it's local control panel, user 4 can't save or create file on desktop and so forth

Can someone please walk me through step by step on how to achieve this very issue, please help me out...

A:Can't get GPO Editor to work with Active Directory

Hmm.. So what's with the subject? Can you actually create policies and suchlike?

For folder access you don't need policies. Filesystem access is set in the security tab of the folder properties. You can give and revoke access by users and groups no problem. (Or do you want to restrict this folder on a lot of computers at once?)

Before you can do anything with GPOs, you have to download and install the management utility: gpmc.msi Play around with it a little and see some guides about it on the net.

A step by step how to would be pointless because you would miss a lot of essential facts about group policies.

Hi

My very first time on here. Took ages to find a site that wasnt rubbish.

I have a pc with a fine n dandy LAN connection to it.
Now I have another pc that sits right next to it but dont know how to connect the ONE LAN cable so both have an internet connection.
Ive tried the LAN on each system separately and it works but is there some sort of LAN cable doubler or something?

My WIRED modem router is miles away so isnt an option to run another cable.

I saw a thing called a 'switch' for about £5 but dont know if it would work.

Ive tried for 3 days now to make it work using an old wired modem router etc to no end.
There must be an easier way?

All the best

On my system I have a SATA 1TB drive with XP installed on a 50GB partition. I decided to run Windows 7 on another separate drive of 80 GB. Now I wanted to clone the XP to the 80 GB en transplant W7 to the faster 1TB drive. In fact swap partitions. This because I wanted a dual boot system and use some well working XP programs incompatible with W7. The W7 did work well after all, but XP gave problems with the logon. The logonscreen was demanding for a WW (which I didn't install to overcome this problems and left it blank). If I enter on the correct accountname and the blank WW, it says log of, and the screen hangs forever. No return of Administrator account for instance. No way to change that. I did the backup with Acronis 2010 on XP, and Acronis 2011 on W7 (both are incompatible). The problem is that you have to choose options whether or not to rebuild the MBR or Systemfile? Older versions simply took the whole thing at once. What could cause this problem and solve it?

A:Cloning active partitions won't work

Create an Acronis backup of XP, reimage again to a freshly formatted partition. If possible wipe the target HD first (after moving off data) with Diskpart Clean Command to clean the boot sector.

If asked include the MBR and Track 0, providing the original XP is SYstem Active partition.

What happens now?

Hi All,

My application is a window toolbar, which calls other web applications. The other web applications communicate with each other thru my toolbar. We are using .NET remoting, using custom active x java scripts for the same. In IE8 for some reason the communication between my tool bar and the other application is not happening.

On running Internet Explorer Compatibility Tool Kit, it shows active X being blocked (Error Type 1026) and has suggested to enable the download of Signed and unsigned active x control. But this solution is not of any success I have turned the compatibility mode on and also Protected mode off. I have also modified nearly all the settings in IE8. The iexplore.EXE is called by passing -noMerge in its argument to get the unique process ids. I have alse changed the Group policy settings.

One of the interesting observation is that in IE6 (where the application works perfectly) I see my dll in the add-ons where as in IE8 I dont see the same. Is any of them is facing the same issue? Any ideas are welcome as I am struggling in this for the past 1 week

Hello everyone,

I'm having a problem. I'm in a network in which Active Desktop is disabled through policies. Someone had a corrupt file on his PC which caused Explorer to shut down. I took care of that (removed it using command prompt), but the first time he opened it it also caused another problem.

All of the sudden, he got the "Restore Active Desktop" button instead of his background. When he clicks that button, an error message pops up.

See attachment.

The .htt file isn't at the specified location. I can't find it on my own PC either.

Side note: This has happened before when someone used IE to set a desktop background.

Any help would be appreciated.

We started to get this message this past week after we upgraded to Norton 2006. Not sure if that has anything to do with the message. We have a Sony Vaio computer and prior to the Norton upgrade, an ambulance figure would show up in the bottom right-hand corner of the toolbar when the computer was booted up. When you cursor over the figure, it says "Vaio Support Agent". Now when the error message shows up, the ambulance figure will not show up until we click on the "OK" button of the error message. I would appreciate anyone's assistance to fix this problem.

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum.. I apologize if this is the incorrect forum, but it seems to be the right one.

Okay, running under Windows Vista SP2 (x64), my CPU idle spikes from 0% to 2%, sometimes even as high as 5% -- no big deal.

Different story for W7: the fourth core of my processor is always active. It seems to be 8-80% (30% average, I guess) all the time.. my total idle usage is around 12-20%, all the time. This cannot be healthy for my system.

This happens with a fresh install of W7, granted I installed it a month ago, it still persists. I figured it would go away, but it hasn't. The activity hasn't gotten worse or better, it has stayed the same.

I cannot narrow down what is causing the issue. It's evident that it's the OS, as Vista doesn't do it, and it occurred after a fresh install.

Task manager doesn't report any irregularities, all is well. The only active "process" is System Idle Process..

If someone could help me with this issue, I would be very appreciative.

Hi All,

I have just noticed a very strange thing within our company active dir, we
have Windows 2000 AD and I have just had a need to search for a user from
within Active Directory Users and Computers, and change the user details.

The user is listed in the results pane of the window. The strange
thing is when I right click on that user (or any other user or computer) I
no longer see the Properties option at the bottom of the associated actions
that I can take with this user account and the rename option is the default
option where as properties used to be so if I double click the user it opens
the rename window and not the properties window.

If I manually drill down in to the OU's and find the user (or any user or computer) and then right click I get all the usual options including the properties option which is the default, so it would appear that this only happens within the find window !

Any ideas how to get my properties back as we have a lot of users etc and it
is really a pain to drill down everytime I need to do something with a user
or computer.

Cheers

A:Active Directory - Strange Issue - Help !

I have been investigating this problem some more and it would seem that the
"properties" option does appear when you right click a user, but only after
a few minutes ! So if you search on Jones the names are listed but the
"properties" option is not there, leave the find window open and wait 2 or 3
minutes and right click again the properties option is there and then you
can do as many searches as you like without a problem, you can even close
the console, re-open the console and search as much as you like without a
problem.

The problem only occurs again when you actually log off the server, when you
log in and search again you must wait that 2 or 3 minutes.

Does anybody know why this is happening, it's as if it is off verifying your
credentials or something ?

Cheers

Hi,

Firstly I'm not particularly tech savvy but I'll try to explain the issue.

I have a Dell XPS L511Z running Windows 7 with Intel Core i5-2450M.

The issue I am having is that sometimes the computer seems to take me out of what ever window I am currently using. It does not open up another window or minimise the current window but acts as if it is no longer the active window. For example if I am using Open Office Writer and am typing it will simply beep at my as if I no longer have the window selected and I will have to manually click into the window to be able to type again.

As far as I can tell it does not follow a particular pattern nor does it matter which program I am using. The only programs where it does not seem to occur are games. Also I have noticed that when watching any videos on fullscreen, part way through the bottom taskbar will become visible and I have to click into the window again to make it go away.
I apologise if this is confusing as it's quite hard to describe the problem.

Attached are also two screenshots of when the issue occurred whilst typing this message. (Issue_Before - is whilst typing this message, Issue_After is when the window is no longer active. You can see that the yellow line around the text box is no longer there and the top bar by the tab changes in tone slightly)

If you need more info just let me know.

P.S. Also I am unsure when this started to occur exactly.

Hi Guys,

I am using Windows 7 64 bit Service Pack 1 and Internet Explorer Version 10.0.9200.16540 and I am having trouble with installing an Active X control.

I looked at my browser security settings (and everything appears to be OK), disabled my pop-up blocker... but I still can't install this active X control, when I go to this link...

NVIDIA Driver Downloads - Automatically Detect NVIDIA Products

All I am getting is "Initializing/Installing Component" but nothing else... no dialog box in yellow at the bottom of my browser window that prompts me to download and install the control.

Also... when I go into "Manage Add-Ons"... and go to "All Add-ons" I don't see that this control is even installed.

I need this active X control installed so that I can have Nvidia scan my motherboard driver and determine if it is the most current version.

If anyone can help me with this problem, I would greatly appreciate it.

This is probably a simple problem, but I know little more about the computer than how to turn it on and navigate to a website or a program. I have saved a website in favorites that shows the Universal Coordinated Time, UTC. http://www.time.gov/timezone.cgi?UTC/s/0/java Because of some work that was done to my computer recently, this website no longer works. At the bottom of the page, I get an error message that says, "Internet Explorer has blocked this website from installing an Active X control." And a clickable button to "Install." When I click "Install," I get a box asking me if I want this to make changes to my computer and I tell it to do so. But then I get another error box that says, "Windows has blocked this website because it can't verify the publisher." And then it lists the name of the website as www.time.gov, which I find interesting. Why doesn't the government verify that they publish the website? But enough of that. Is there a way to get Windows to go ahead and let the website run like it's supposed to do? If there is a solution, please give me very basic step-by-step instructions. You tech guys can get me lost in a skinny minute.

A:Active Desktop Wallpaper issue, please help

Are you using BMP or JPG images?

I personally do not use active desktop because it is prone to problems. I turn it off (Right click on the desktop>active desktop>uncheck show web content.

Then BMP images would be used.

Otherwise, some malware will do this, I've seen some that won't change it besides a solid color and some that permanently put up an image of their choice.

One of my client's Active Directory server (Windows 2003 Server) went down when we installed Service Pack 2. We were able to remove the service pack and get it running again, but until then the client was without any Internet connectivity, due to their DHCP running on the Windows AD. It was a six hour nightmare.

Can a Windows Active Directory do its job without running its own DHCP service? We would like to unload the DHCP from the Windows box to a Linux box or even to the WatchGuard router, but I am not sure how well the Windows server would take this hit to its functionality (or ego ).

Thanks for any insights into this issue.

Hello,

First time post, apologises if I don't include all the relevant information you require first time.

Essentially my problem is this - At a random time period the active window I have open, either clicking or typing in will lose focus despite no interaction from myself to do so, but in the Windows task bar it still shows as the presently active window.

I've already run a full anti-viral and anti-malware/root kit check before submitting this topic, I've made sure that Windows is up to date along with drivers for attached devices. It is becoming quite a nuisance now as I use this machine for writing and gaming.

Any advice you could render would be appreciated.

5788
"Attempt to update HOST Service Principal Names (SPNs) of the computer object in Active Directory failed"

5789
"Attempt to update DNS Host Name of the computer object in Active Directory failed"

"Access is Denied" is the specific error reported within each.

The primary DNS suffix is correct and I'm logged onto this server with an account that has full local and domain admin privileges. Has anyone out there experienced anything like this before?

Hello,

I am having an issue with Internet Explorer 11. I noticed a few weeks ago that when I use IE 11 that I keep having to click on the window to keep it active, even if I have no other windows open. If I open IE 11 window and start typing a login somewhere I get 4 or 5 characters typed in then window goes inactive and I have to click back in the text box to finish typing my login. If I am browsing I sometimes have to click back on the window somewhere to continue scrolling on a page.

This is getting annoying so I would like to find out a fix if possible. I do have Firefox and Chrome that DO NOT have the same problem. I use different browsers for different tasks and would like to resolve this if anyone can help.

Thanks so much.

Server 2003 Enterprise R2 SP2, fully updated.

I've done as much research as my eyes can handle, and I've got my server set up. Now, when I create a user account, everything seems to work fine.
But when I set up a user with Admin rights, the user cannot write to the shares on the server, despite setting permissions accordingly. Even after I've just said "hell with it" and added the user to every group in the system. No writing. Reading is fine though.
While I was logged in to the server as local Administrator...

On step two, where I had blithely added my UserId to every group in the system, I then went to each "root" folder that was shared, and added myself to the users of the folder, then granted myself Full Control.

Under Security tab, my name/UserID is listed, with all check boxes filled in for full control.

I log out of local Admin, and log in as me - ON the server - and still no write access. I can read and copy all I want, but no writing to that shared folder.

Then I tried by logging in to another system connected to the server, same thing. No writing. Should I use the Sharing tab -> Permissions button instead? Or both? Or is it something else that's stopping it?

This is the only thing holding me up, really.

PROBLEM1
Sometimes, for no apparent reason, it becomes impossible to click on a partially obscured window to make it the active window; it's as if the window in the foreground has "gone modal" on me.

PROBLEM2
Conversely, sometimes a partially obscured window will become the active window and come to the foreground even if I have not clicked on it.

PROBLEM3
Sometimes when I'm in a browser (ANY browser, not just a particular one), and click the back button, the browser goes back, as it should, but then after a couple of seconds will return to the page I had just been looking it, as if it had a mind of its own.

There is a long thread on Technet about this, with many people reporting the problem as early as 2009 in Vista. I'm running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. I hope there are some good ideas here on this forum, as these problems are making my system unusable, because they happen every few minutes! Arrrgh.

Hello all,

I have been experiencing some window focus loss and it's especially noticeable while gaming.
I would be gaming and then I would lose focus on the game and have to click back in manually.

Sometimes it doesn't happen but then sometimes it occurs very often within 10 seconds apart.

I ran Malwarebyte and window defender and came back empty. It has to be some external program that is making windows lose focus but I can't seem to find what it is. I thought it was pingzapper so i removed it but the problem still occurs.

I did have some Malware previously that made utorrent not work and mute my mic but those have been removed.

PS note: I would also hear the windows chime from time to time but have nothing on the screen shows up.

Any help is appreciated.

But now programs that were still active at time of shutdown refuse to work. Some of these are office 2010 starter & Windows Installer (). Is there a fix for this?

A:Programs active after force close (hold power for 5 secs) won't work!

You should always close all programs before restarting or shutting down your pc. Sleep is the only mode where it is fine to leave your programs running.

You are going to need to do a repair on the programs in question, or uninstall and reinstall them.

I also checked my comp with BitDefender online scanner, SuperAntiSpyware, HijackTHis. They don't find any viruses. Computer works fast, although aftre all this checking and removal I found that sometimes when I click two windows too fast it locks and I have to reboot it by reset button.
Now the annoying part is that when I do Google search it still redirects me to various random sites. I also found that when I disable active scripting it does not do that, but then I cannot view YOuTube movies, etc.
Is ther a way to analyze and search for scripts that cause this. I assume it's just some stupid script that gets activated when I'm on line, because none of the AV programs I use finds any viruses anymore.

After I added one of these Dell computers to the Windows Server 2008 Active Directory, I was not able to download several items. Below are several examples:

I had an external HDD put in as an external HDD, but for some reason it is marked as active (when connected with my normal HDDs windows will not boot), can I make it inactive WITHOUT loosing all the data (It has only my movie collection ripped from DVD on it) nothing else. I only found out the other day when I replaced my PSU with a new one, and windows would not boot until I disconnected it. (after having it connected without a problem for about 2 years).

A:Make an Active drive non-active

In a standard Windows PC, the active partition would be C, or System Reserved if you have that partition. Do you have both of those partitions and is either of them marked "active"?

The active flag has nothing to do with data.

Hello, having a bit of an issue.

Earlier this week, I ordered a new GPU from nvidia, and I am having an issue with my PC booting up with it. I have it plugged in to the PCI slot correctly and it is receiving sufficient power, etc. The problem arises from my PC having secure boot enabled which is preventing the GPU from working. Now, I know that normally this could be fixed by disabling secure boot in the BIOS settings (Windows 7 updated to Windows 8.1, so I have BIOS and not UEFI), but I am unable to disable secure boot in my BIOS settings. There simply isn't an option for it, so I went to check my msinfo32 to see what version of BIOS I was running and if possibly there was an issue with that version. However, while finding that my BIOS was outdated inside of the system information, I also found that my Secure Boot State is listed as simply unsupported, not disabled or enabled. Thinking this was possibly just an issue with the version, I updated to the most recent available, yet the problem persists.

Any idea how I could fix this, or am I going to need to simply buy a new motherboard?

A:Having an issue getting a new GPU to work

First of all, no one [other than you] has any idea what we are attempting to fix. Post ALL of your exact system specs; ie exact mb installed [and what bios version] exact ram installed, exact video card installed, exact pw supply installed, etc, etc. Note do not post "500W pw supply" post the exact make and model.

If this is a big box system, then post the exact make and model# along with any service tag you have.

At work we use a proxy server to access the web. When working on a customer's computer we have to change the proxy settings and then remember to change them back when we're done working. We have 2 .reg files that we click on to set and unset the proxy.

I've puzzled out several solutions for this - but I'm unable to find one that will do it unattended. Any suggestions? Since we shut the computers down when working on them, I'd like it to be run automatically once on reboot and then have the program/.reg files deleted.

I can do this with the Run Once key in the registry, but cannot escape the prompts for permission and confirmation when it's done. Any ideas?

Hello everyone. I have been here quite a few times before but for some odd reason I can't remember what my old password was so I just made a new one. Anyway, my mom is having some trouble with one of her work computers and managed to pick something up. I have followed the standard procedure on this, ran adaware and spybot, cleared my internet explorer cache, all that good stuff. Nothing has worked. The spyware is strange. It changed the background on the computer to give a warning about spyware, every time we try to go to different websites a page that we didn't want to go to comes up in its place, etc. etc. So here I am. Trying to install Work Folders on a Windows 7 Professional laptop.  The laptop meets all the system requirements for install.    The laptop is also a domain member.  The install goes fine but when trying to actually setup a
work folder I receive the following error.

Work Folders
This location doesn't work
Choose a location that isn't reserved by Windows and is on a drive formatted with NTFS
Details = The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. (0x80070422)

The hard drive is formatted with NTFS and it is not encrypted.  I have tried everything I can think of.  Moved the default folder to somewhere else, set the work folders service as Automatic and it is running.  Setup the folder a head
of time and gave full access rights.  Has anyone come across this issue and know how to resolve?
Thanks,
Jeff

I have made a test and I can setup the "work folder"  in the Windows 7 machine .Please ensure you have downloaded the right version work folder installation for the Windows 7 machine.According to my experience ,this issue may be related

Hi there. I'm sorry to post this, as I see the number of very similar issues posted already this week, but none of them seem to be quite in line with what I'm experiencing.

My personal laptop (XP SP2) has been having issues loading websites/emails/etc for a few days: it would work fine for between 10 seconds and 2 minutes, and then stop loading, working intermittently if at all. The connection to the wireless signal has never actually been lost; signal strength is always at least "good", if not "very good".

The "repair" option for the connection kept stopping at "Renewing IP address". Trying ipconfig /flushdns and /renew, my IP, 192.168.1.64, wouldn't budge, and pinging the default gateway a hundred times, I estimate around 80-90% loss. Early on I also tried restarting and virus scanning.

As the other laptop in the house was having none of this problem, I thought it must be an issue with my computer - possibly a hardware issue. After I turned my computer off and went onto the 2nd laptop to use the internet, the 2nd computer's internet stopped working properly. Now, that 2nd laptop has the IP address 192.168.1.64, and is having the aforementioned issues with connecting, and my laptop (which is now using the 2nd laptop's previous IP address) is working fine.

To sum up, the 2 laptops have swapped IPs, and the other computer is now having the issue. Mine is working fine.

Usually I can fix just about anything on my own, but this issue has left me completely dumbfounded. I am running Windows 8.1 Pro. Here are the symptoms:For a while, a lot of the time I turned on my computer, a random key would be held down. Usually this was the number 7 or the control key. It would keep this key held until I rebooted, often multiple times.
Now, I have to reboot my computer multiple times (quite a few, up to 20 times) to get the keyboard to work at all. It will not take input at all. Not even the on-screen keyboard will work. It just freezes when I click a key on it. This goes for all keyboards. If I continue to mash keys, it will eventually type one or two characters but that's it. The fact that this applies to all keyboard, including the on-screen keyboard, makes me firmly believe there is something larger at play than drivers or something.
Keyboards work fine in safe mode, and in other operating systems (loading up live linux CDs etc). They also work fine in the BIOS.
I have tried multiple keyboard drivers (and keyboards), to no avail.
I have tried uninstalling / re-installing all usb devices / hubs in device manager, to no avail.
I have scrutinized the system event log and remedied all errors. My system event log is error-free.
I have ran a chkdsk, no errors.
I have run an sfc /scannow, no errors or corruption found.
I have tried the keyboard on multiple USB ports, including ones on an additional PCI-E card.
I have tried disabling all startup items and all... Read more

Hey,

I want to record the audio from a skype conversation, and a videogame at the same time, so bassically i need to record my input (mic. input), my friends input (my output) and the game's sound (output).

So yeah i could just enable stereo-mix and my sound recording device (currently using audacity, very open minded however) would record my PC's output aswell as my input. Simple right? Well, here comes the problem, when using stereo-mix this results in an instant feedbackloop wich will lead to a horrific noise in about 5 seconds. So using this is rather... useless.

myself i have come up with certain work-arounds/ solutions but don't know how to follow trough with them but here are my thoughts:

- Get a recording device wich allows for simultaneous input and output recording (don't know any)
- Solve The Feedbackloop problem. seriously have no idea...

Additional info:
I am running on:
- Windows XP
- Realtek HD audio (something something, can find out the exact numbers if needed)

and my friend is running:
- Windows 7
- and doesn't know what his sound card is.

the feedbackloop is trough skype as far as i can tell (we both get a destroying sound)

Hello everyone, I'm very stumped with my build that used to work flawlessly.

The computer was built several years ago using all the same Mobo and CPU (Intel Q8400) and even the same DDR3 Ram. I did, however, ran an ATI HD4870 1GB that handled all the games I wanted to play just fine. Some random heating problems in an otherwise working system.

Then one day, i couldn't load into windows. I could see the standard Windows 7 load screen, but then act like there's no signal once it would presumably load into the desktop. I even tried re-installing windows 7 on a fresh drive to same result. I finally switched to a smaller GPU, the NVIDIA 8500GT and managed to get into Windows 7.

My issue now is that the GPU won't run any games that it used to be able to run, even on a fresh OS with updated drivers. The ATI card can't load past the standard Win7 loading screen. When I attempt to run a game, i automatically get the BSOD or a fuzzy pixelation where i have to manually reset the PC. I thought it was the PSU, even swapped that for a larger size (700w) and still no luck. Before I look into a nicer GPU in the future, how can i tell if this is an issue coming from another component (ie. Mobo, Ram, CPU, etc.)??

A:Bsod Issue coming from different GPU, used to work fine.

Hi there

I downloaded the SoundMax driver version 6.xxx which was recommended HERE but I have a slight problem.

I am running Home Premium OEM for the Japanese market. Now while I can read Japanese fine the issue I've encountered is that the Device Manager set up is actually different from the US version. I eventually found screen shots of the US walk through for using Device Manager and confirmed that things are actually located in different spots on the menus and whatnot.

So I am not confident that what I'm trying to do exactly mirrors the process outlined in the above-quoted post, although it should be the same...

That being said, I managed to find a way to 'update driver', however, in the recommended file I downloaded HERE I could not find the file named ADIHdAud.inf so I was not able to specify it when updating the driver. All in all I just couldn't get the work around noted above to work for me.

Simply using setup.exe also failed, as it did not find my speakers or SoundMax equipment.

Can anyone here possible supply me with the necessary driver ADIHdAud.inf and/or point out where it is in the zip file I downloaded, and could someone possibly give me an alternative or slightly more detailed walk through for installing it?

Thanks very much

At my job I have this one woman whose computer started acting strangely this morning.

She cannot connect to one specific network drive for more than a few minutes at a time before it boots her out and puts her in 'work offline' mode.

She can synchronize the folders to get another few minutes out of it, but is having a hard time getting any real work done because of this.

Internet and email (email is on the same server as the network drive) still work without an issue.

At first I thought this may be internet explorer's 'work offline' issue, but when none of those fixes worked, I posted here.

She is the only one in the office with this issue, so I don't think it's a problem on the server side.

Any help is appreciated,
Thank you in advance.

Hello,This past weekend I was blessed with the Google redirect/popup issue people seem to have been enjoying recently. So here's the thing. A few days ago I noticed that my PC is slow unlike before. I can not run any games, I can not access NVidia Control Panel and when I check "Display" on dxdiag it does not show the device information. I went to device manager trying to disable/enable the graphic card but it told that the graphic card is turned on but that there are issues because of which the graphic card is not working properly. I tried uninstalling drivers with driver sweep and through device manager. BIOS happen to be alright and also I checked if it's plugged in correctly several times and it is. I really don't know what caused this or when.

When I right click on desktop and go to Properties>Settings, there's usually graphic specs written above the resolution bar but now it doesn't show any. It happens to be that my graphic card is unable to use any resources.

PC Specs:

Intel(R)Core(TM)2Duo CPU
E4600, 2.4 Ghz
GeForce 8500GT 512mb.

I'm running on XP 32 bits. Please help me.

A:GeForce 8500GT issue. Plugged in but doesn't work.

Bump.
