A:windows 10 upgrade fails on pavilion 15 notebook pc

Hi @giftedmishra? ,Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion 15 Notebook and issues with creating Recovery discs. Here is a link from Microsoft on creating USB recovery flash drive. Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues. Plug the power adapter directly into a functioning wall outlet. Do not plug it into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source as this could cause and issue. If your computer is having problems finding and installing operating system updates, try using the Windows Update Troubleshooting tool to fix the problem. I hope this helps. Thanks.

I have a Pavilion g7 Notebook PC that currently has Windows 8.  This morning I received a pop up box stating windows 10 would be installed on Sunday.  I decided to not wait and selected install now.  the screen went fast and I could not get all the information other than something about download and reboot.  I dont think it dowloaded anything given that took about  1 minute.  I called Microsoft this morning and they told me hooked up to my computer and told me the laptop can be upgrade to Windows 10; however I needed to contact HP for current drivers.  I have been all over Hp site trying to find this information and can't seem to find it.  Can you help?  I do have a serial number and product # but I dont know the series.

A:Pavilion g7 Notebook Window 8 upgrade to Windows 10

sheilabroderick I read your post about needing Win10 drivers and wanted to help -- but need more information. If you can, please follow the directions in this link to find the detailed product number of your PC: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824?jumpid=reg_r1002_usen_c-001_title_r0001If that is not possible, then look for a sticker on the PC that includes the product number and post that here.  If the battery is removable, the sticker is likely to be in the battery compartment. We can proceed once you provide the information. Thanks

My laptop was recently upgraded to Windows 10 and now I can't print anything. I get an error message that reads,"Windows cannot print due to the current printer setup."  I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and even purchased a new printer. Still no printing. I'm assuming that some file somewhere has been corrupted, but not sure how to find it or fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi!I am using HP Pavilion 15 Notebok PC (F6C42PA#ACJ). It came with Win 8.1 preinstalled on a 1 TB HDD. I have upgraded the OS to win 10 and now want to upgrade my HDD to a SSD. I was wondering if Transcend TS256GSSD370S and Samsung Evo 850 is compatible with my laptop. Also how to enable AHCI mode? I don't see any such option in BIOS.Thank you.

I want to upgrade the RAM from 4 to 8GB (16 if possible) and upgrade the OS to one with a longer support life - I'm thinking Windows 7 or 8.1. Is it best to do the upgrades serially and which should I do first? What RAM should I buy i.e. ordering info? Which OS do you recommend and where is the best place to buy it and the preferred media. A:Upgrade HP Pavilion Notebook - RAM and OS

Hi, Please use the following manual:     http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01918142.pdf RAM: page 2 gives you RAM specs and max RAM supported. Page 67 gives you part number, you can use part number to order from HP or online stores. Please note: this is an old machine and RAM could be a bit hard to find now.For OS: Windows 7 drivers are available on itshomepage:          http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-dv7-Entertainment-Notebook-PC-series/374... You are much better to upgrade to Windows 7 than others because HP supports it. For OS, you can buy from a computer shop or order from Microsoft. Please note again, this machine is 8 years old. Please do not waiste more money on it. Regards.

The R & M Guide for this notebook says a max of 8G of RAM over 2 slots i.e. max of 4G / slot  and  DDR3-1600 MHz Dual Channel support for a Next Generation Intel Core processor. Processor = Intel Core i7-3632QM processor (2.2GHz, SC turbo up to 3.1GHz, 1600 MHz/6MB L3 cache, quad core, 35W and specs max of 2 memory channels  My current RAM is    Ramaxel 4G 2rx8 PC3-12800S 11-11-1f  (is DDR3 so 1.5v) My question is, as the current RAM is 2 channels (2sx8) can the RAM in the second slot (to go to 8g) be 2 channels or do I have to remove the current RAM and replace with two new RAM modules of 1 channel (1sx8) each?  If the latter is the case can I used DDR3L (1.35v), which is also a processor spec, in place of the DDR3? Thanks for any assistance.

A:RAM upgrade for Pavilion g6-2235tx Notebook

Yes you can use DDR3L since you have the 3rd generation processor. Here is the manual: Service manual You definitely do not want to mix low and high voltage RAM. If you are going to install 2 modules you want them to be the same density (number of ranks) and ideally, you want them to be identical.  So I would get 2 x 4 gig DDR3L-1600 modules.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

My dv6 has gotten severely slow. I am currently running Windows 10, and right now it takes 15-20 minutes to wake it up from sleep and log in. Ive done a lot of cleaning and optimizing, but nothing has gotten better on it. It get's very warm very quickly and the fan always seems to be on high. I am looking to try and upgrade the memory, and maybe the processor (to quad-core) at least if possible to see if the performance will get any better. I can barely do anything on it now because it takes way too long! I do have a 1 TB HDD installed a few years ago and that has been working well, but everyday web browsing, microsoft office products and light photo/video editing once in a while are nearly impossible! What memory and processors are compatible with my machine that I could look into upgrading? Any help is greatly appreciated! According to the specs this is what you have: Microprocessor2.60GHz Vision Premium Technology from AMD with AMD Phenom II Dual-Core Mobile Processor P650Microprocessor Cache2MB L2 CacheMemory4GB DDR3 System Memory (1 DIMM)Memory Max Video GraphicsRadeon HD 4250 Graphics This is your Service Manual: Link to Service Manual You have this motherboard: For use only with computer models equipped with an AMD Athlon, Phenom, Turion, or V-series processor and a graphics subsystem with UMA video memory 638856-001 That is going to limit the processor and video options. Your best CPU is going to be this one: AMD Phenom II N970 2.20-GHz processor (2.0-MB L2 cache, 1333-MHz, 3.6GT/ sec, quad core, 35 W) 635496-001 There is no way to upgrade the video without also replacing the motherboard.  max RAM is 8 gigs of DDR3-1333. You just need one more 4 gig chip to max the memory. You have a 5400 or 7200 rpm 500 gig mechanical hard drive and your best upgrade will be a solid state drive.  Where are you located (country only) and we can start linking you to vendors. Do you plan to do the labor your self? Have you stopped to consider what all this will cost? What is your realistic budget for upgrade and we can help prioritize?   If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

Hey, fellow forum users. I have questions concerning the processor in my HP Pavillion 15 Notebook. Mainly being,-is it possible that I could upgrade the current dual core i3 I have to an i5 or even i7?-Is there any other upgrades I can make to beef the notebook up as I mostly use it for gaming  and I can hardly get 20 FPS?-Or do you advise I sell this laptop as I cannot upgrade the motherboard? I have tried using the already existing support for processor upgrades on the HP support website but it was no help at all and I've had to do a lot of digging to no avail.Thank you for taking the time to read this, I hope you are able to answer my questions and I'm sorry for my inability as I have very little experience with hardware. Much thanks, Halogen.

Hi, I currently have a 1 TB HDD in my laptop, but with Windows 10, my disk usage is often 100% (even after disabling a lot of stuff). I would like to upgrade to an SSD. I have a few questions that I would like your help with: Is it allowed to upgrade to SSD? (I mean does the BIOS check something like hardware signatures, and would it reject a new drive?)Should I look for a particular size when searching SSDs online? Will I be able to retain my Windows license? (I can currently create a USB from Microsoft's tool and reinstall Windows. If I change hardware, will Microsoft still allow me to retain my lisence?)What other precautions should I take?I am currently looking at this SSD. Would this (and similar) work with my laptop? Thanks and regardsPrakhar

I just attempted to upgrade my memory with a 1GB module from Kingston.
Module = 1GB PC2700 333 MHz KVR333SC/1GR

The Notebook has 2 memory bays. 1 memory bay is accessible to the user. I replaced a 256MB module with the new 1GB module. I started the computer up and it booted just fine and pulled up my desktop screen. Then I received the blue screen with a message that Windows was shutting down. I removed the module and re-seated it and tried again. Now it only gets to the Windows screen and then goes to the blue screen. It looked so simple - HELP!!

Does anybody know where I can find more information on this? Also, if it requires a MB upgrade, does anybody know which ones will work in this chassis?Any help is appreciated! Thanks! ~DT

Dear helpful Friends.   I bought this laptop and every time it would ask me to activate windows. After one month I returned it back to the shop where I bought it. Kindly they received it and sent it back to Hp branch and told me that, they would call me when it is ready. After three hours they called and told me to come for my laptop that it was ready. I went and picked it. Thanks it is working without asking to activate windows. Before then, it had a recovery partition which was there from the day I bought the laptop, and which was there before the windows was activated. Now, my question is, in case I use the recovery partition to return the laptop to the way it was from the factory, will the windows be active, and if not, will I have to take it back to Hp branch again to activate for me or what should I do.?

I've Recently bought this new laptop (Hp Pavilion 15 Notebook Pc)The wifi connection on it was fine for about the first week but then started to become really hit and miss or would connect and say it was 'limited'. My laptop finds my wifi connection and occasionally connects to it, but if im trying to connect to it i'll select the network type in the security key and i type it in and it says its not correct. I know that it is correct because its on the bottom of my virgin media hub. I've been on the phone back and forth with Virgin Media and HP and neither of them can work out why it won't connect. Things i've been told to do by virgin that didn't work:-Reset the hub to factory settings- Switch off the 5G so theres only 2G available- plug the ethernet cable in to connect to the internet- Get virgin to check if the port on my laptop is open- Check Mac Filtering Things Hp has tried to do:- simply restart my laptop, check updates- Check i have the right drivers (as i know there was driver problems with the 8.1 update and having the right drivers to connect to virgin media network) - My wireless card in the actual laptop works  I can still connect to other networks, i have and iphone and can make a hotspot and connect to that so its not that my laptop can't connect to anything at all, and it very occasionally still connects to my internet. As i said earlier it says the security key is wrong when i enter it but sometimes i'll enter it and it... Hello I have a

But after taking an origional windows 8.1 from msdn official site when i tried to dual boot I had some issue of "dynamic disk" which I came to know that I cant install a new OS if my hard disk is of "dynamic type". Now after reading from many blogs I downloaded one utility and converted my hard disk from "dynamic type" to "basic type" with that utility without formatting the hard disk, but just by using that utility which went fine.

Now after installing the origional windows 8.1 from the bootable pen drive yesterday I was using fine until now.
Suddenly when i started doing some actual work I got some graphics issue( I guss but not sure) and my screen started going to black couple of times like it used to happen in windows 7 when it used to do " switchable Graphics" thing.I thought that it will go off but it happened quite some time and windows 8 just restarted .Again i tried samething happened and my windows 8 is just restarting again and again after couple of black screen effects. Please help me now I am not able to log in to my windows 8 also its just hanging in between but I am able to use my windows 7 smoothly.

In November 2015 I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 (64 bit). My Bluetooth devices were working properly. Last week I did a complete hard disk reformat and reinstallation of Windows 10.  Now I cannot connect any of my Bluetooth devices. In Device Manager, it says the two Bluetooth devices (Generic Bluetooth Adapter and Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator) are working properly. The drivers are both dated 21 June 2006, version 10.0.10586.420 (Microsoft). When I try to connect, it shows "Your PC is searching for and can be discovered by Bluetooth devices.", but none of my devices (Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 and several Apple iDevices) show up. I have of course enabled discovery on the devices. Is there a driver I need? I know this can work, since everything was OK after I upgraded to Windows 10, before the full reinstallation. Also, I followed the same procedures on my HP Pavilion destop (HPE-590t) and Buetooth works fine there. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I can see newer drivers for Intel HD graphics on the intel site but it won't install them because it says bespoke HP versions of graphics drivers are already installed. Any ideas?

========================

Upon catching a bug virus, I took no chance and formatted everything, instead of the system recovery solution (F11) since there was a virus there anyway, so I did not want to take any chance.

Since I did not make any CD/DVD from from the previous Windows Vista system that came with the Notebook, I went buying a brand new Windows XP Pro DVD. But now the Install of Windows XP Pro keeps failing with error "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer " when chosing the option "To set up Windows XP now, press ENTER".

I have no other option to chose other from 'To repair Windows XP Installation using recovery console, Press R" and to quit setup, Press F3. But no options to boot the install from a 2nd, 3rd partition.

Obviously, the Hard drive is on a 2nd, 3rd partition of the hard drive and Windows XP Install can't access it.

So I loaded a Boot CD, ran fdisk from Bart's CDROM Boot Diskbut it fails with error "AUTOEXEC: Booted drive ia sL Setting up Ram disk at drive q: Autoexec Aborted" and it would not launch fdisk. I guess it has to do with the fact that the system booting drive is on a 2nd, 3rd partition. I usually have no problem using fdisk or partition magic to merge all partition in one, get the partition activated and boot the install from there, but on my notebook I seem to not be able to ... A:Issues installing Windows XP on my hp pavilion dv6700 notebook

That's because XP does not have the SATA drivers for the Hard Drive .. so it doesn't see it.
If you know the Driver .. it can be slipsteamed into the XP install CD.
Even if you can do this, you'll probably have trouble finding the other drivers that are missing.

Have you though about getting the recovery DVDs from HP ??
You should have recovered from the recovery partition .. it was safe.

I would like to explain the Recovery went well, but I thought I would do a telling of how I reached that point. I do have a few questions afterwards.
My Niece came to me the other day and asked me if I could take a look at her machine. It was acting very slow with a lot of features unavailable, so I said sure.

Product Page for niece's machine:
HP Pavilion dv4-2145dx Entertainment Notebook

I figured out why she was having problems after I ran 5 different anti-virus/malware programs on it. Lets see if I remember correctly.

There were:
350 adware/spyware cookies on it.
18 viruses.
9 Trojans.
3 rootkits.
2 worms.
2 keyloggers.
Even Windows Defender found 1 backdoor loader. Good 'ol Defender, eh?
It got to a point that every time I removed whatever those five programs found, the machine would exhibit even worse behaviour.

When I noticed there were several duplications of computer locations listed in the left pane of Explorer; Favorites, Desktop, Library, Computer, Network, Homegroup, I had enough and decided to cut my losses and do what HP calls a Recovery.

Because the Start menu Folder for Recovery was (empty) along with Administrative Tools, and the other HP Bloatware (BW) Folders, I tried using HP's method of getting into Recovery, but that didn't work either.
I had to see if Recovery was still in Explorer and it was. I clicked on the Recovery.exe file, and success!
It started, ran, and now I am at a point where I am just about finished with Windows Updates.

As far as Steam goes, I, and no one I know that uses it, has had a problem with it, but as far as I know, we all have it set to not run at start up and only use it when actually playing something. The only program similar to Steam that I can think of is Origin and that is only for EA games. Both will eat up some resources if left running all the time, so show her how to exit out of steam from the notification area and set steam to not run at startup (can be done within Steam's settings). If you have any particular issues/concerns with using Steam, don't be afraid to ask.

I don't know what to tell you about Bonjour, other than get a different phone/mp3 player.

The list of programs was not changed in the registry for some reason. You can use CCleaner to check for references to Java in the registry and remove Java from the list of installed programs.

I'd go with $20 or more an hour.

My brother sold me his HP Pavilion g6-1d73us Notebook for cheap because it had a bad hard drive (also did not come with Windows 7 CD). I am going to purchase a replacement hard drive and get the laptop up and running. The notebook originally had Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit on it. I currently have a copy of Windows 7 Professional 64/32 bit full retail, which is used on my desktop and a OEM Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, used on my other desktop. Will either of these CDs work for my g6 once I purchase a new hard drive (I know I have to use the laptop product key). I didnt know if my product key on the bottom of the laptop would work with the Professional version even though the laptop came with Home Premium. Last question, About 5 of the numbers/letters is worn off from the bottom of the sticker on the laptop. My brother didnt write it down or anything for a backup. What can I do about that? Thanks.

A:HP Pavilion g6-1d73us Notebook - installing Windows 7/Worn Product Key

Sorry, keys are version specific -- the Professional key will not work with a Home Premium version.

There's not really a lot you can do with the drive being bad on the laptop. IF it were working, there are apps you can run to display the current product key, which can then be saved to a file. But, with a nonworking drive, unless the product key is printed somewhere else (inside the battery compartment, for example), those apps are of no use.

You might be able to get restore media from HP (for a LOT less than buying it retail), but you would need to check with them to see if it would automatically activate. Tell them the hard drive has crashed and you want to restore the machine to working order -- they might give you a deal on restore media.

I am considering upgrading my HP Pavilion to Windows 10.  I consulted HP's Web site and was advised that "HP has tested your PC model and has determined that it can be upgraded to Windows 10, but there is information to review before moving forward." In the Section "Potential Feature Limitions/Intel precessors and Windows 7/8 32-bit I found this statement:"Computers configured with Intel Broadwell (Intel Core i3-5xxx, Core i5-5xxx, Core i7-5xxx; Pentium 38xx, Celeron 37xx/32xx) or Haswell (Intel Core i3-4xxx, i5-4xxx, i7-4xxx; Pentium 35xx, Celeron 29xx) processors and 32-bit versions of Windows 8.1 are not capable of upgrading to Windows 10 using the Windows Upgrade tool." My Pavilion runs an i3-4130 CPU and the 64-bit version of Wondows 7 Home Premium. In one place I am told I can upgrade to Windows 10.  The other place seems to suggest that I can't.  Please advise.

A:Can I upgrade my Pavilion 500 to Windows 10

Hi: The way I interpret the cautionary statement you posted is that only applies if you are running a 32 bit operating system on your PC, which you are not. It also says those PC's with those criteria can't use the W10 upgrade tool. I would imagine then folks in that circumstance could use the W10 media creation tool for 32 bit, by making the 32 bit DVD, and running the upgrade from the DVD on the windows desktop. I don't see any restrictions against doing that on the microsoft website below. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

A:HP ENVY TS 17 Notebook PC Windows 10 upgrade problems ???

Well it is free if you upgrade by midnight tomorrow and after that is going to cost. I personally have had no real issues with Windows 10 on any computer that originally came with Windows 8 or 8.1. However, if you have the switchable graphics it has created lots of issues for other people so if you have that stay away from Windows 10. Otherwise I would say do it.

I have tried using the internal cd drive and repairing the setup with the windows 7 installation cd however the cd drive is on the fritz and not working properly.

I later tried installing windows xp through a usb over the windows 7 setup on the internal hard disk and that doesn't work. Ive already checked "http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-121778-unable-to-install-windows-xp-over-windows-7" however i don't have the ATA or SATA options in the BIOS Menu.

Is there any way i could fix the laptop without :

or formatting the internal hard disk
or a 4gb usb with windows 7 installation
and maybe through a bootable usb with BartPE ?

Hi guys,
today I wanted to buy laptop HP Pavilion DV6-6B17EZ.
I wanted to buy the laptop like it is and then install professional version since I need it for the software SAP GUI.
Unfortunately the guy in the shop told me that :

1)Windows professional will create problems on my laptop because of the drivers of the web cam and Audio card.
Furthermore I will not be abe to install the HP SW anymore.
I think that's bull **** but I would appreciate some feedbacks on that.

2)Furthermore I have been told that in case of failure during the guarantee period I would need to have windows home premium. Is that possible and easy?
should I create restore point or something similar?

3)what would be the easiest, fastest option for the OS upgrade.I have alreaday red a bit about the procedure but I am not sure.

Thanks in advance for all the support could be provided.

A couple of years ago I bought a HP Pavilion Dv2-1030us 12" notebook with an AMD Athlon Neo 64 processor, 4GB memory and Windows Vista Home Premium. I hoped to carry it in my truck, but it's lousy battery life and slow performance with a 3G MiFi connection made that nearly impossible. It also runs so hot you can't use it sitting on your lap and I wasn't comfortable leaving it in the truck (even in an insulated bag) on hot days (and that's everyday in the summer here in Phoenix, AZ). According to CPUbenchmark.net, the Neo 64 processor benchmark score is only 386, the same as an Intel Atom 550 netbook processor.

My wife used it in the bedroom for web browsing and email for the last year. She gave it back when I moved her desktop computer into the bedroom. The old Dell Inspiron I kept in the Family Room finally died so I plan to keep the Dv2 downstairs for web browsing, email and occasional html editing.

Speedtest.net reported a download speed at 11.30 Mbps on it this evening, so it has a fast wireless internet connection. But most web pages are really slow to load. McAfee says it's clean, but I have not ran any other diagnostic tools. A couple of months ago I cloned it's hard drive onto a new 7200 rpm drive before I figured out the intermittent noise it makes is from it's system fan.

I found Windows 7 drivers on HP's website. I also found a Windows 7 Home Premium 3 user family pack in stock at a retailer I trust. Then I found an online user review saying it wa... Read more

I would suggest keeping vista, but cleaning it up a bit. update the goodness into that thing. windows update, and look for the important and optional updates you need. defragment that bad boy. remove all programs you don't need. i recommend Microsoft security essentials and malewarebytes instead of mcafee (unless you are paying for it). even if you are paying, then malewarebytes is a good software program to have. it doesn't need to be set up to automate, but just use it every once in a while (free).

Disk check and clean up some things for more space:

You could upgrade the RAM without paying too much if you really wanted. 3-4 GB RAM would alleviate trouble on that end. make sure all RAM matches though, no mixing RAM.

You could go into computer>system properties>advanced system settings (far left hand side)>performance>Settings and then uncheck as many "pretties" as you don't mind letting go.

you can click computer>properties (right click first) and then DESELECT compress drive and DESELECT allow files to.. index if you don't mind not having a search index. compressing a drive isn't a good idea anyway for that first one.

look up ways to make vista faster on google and it will give you lots of info, both good and bad. you will have to decide what you like or not. You could also install IE9 on your computer and remove every other web browser (unless you prefer another), as IE9 has been streamlined a b... Read more

Dear HP community, i am am currently having an issue with my computer of 5 years. I have been rejecting the Windows 10 update for as long as I could but ultimately it did a self update and shortly after updating, I was unable to even start up my computer as I kept getting stuck at the loading page with two errors "error with FAT32 hard drive" and "error with NTFS hard drive". To which, the subsequent message would be "we are attempting to resolve this issue by restarting your computer" and I would be stuck in the infinite loop where my computer cannot start upi would appreciate any and all forms of help as this is highly frustrating, given that my school term has started and I am suddenly without a computer. Please help! Thank you. RegardsYi Xiang

HI There,Ever since I upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 my HP Pavilion x360 has been a complete wreck. Including charging and sound issues. I've been able to resolve the sound issue by using device manager and uninstalling the drivers entirely. I have done the same for the charging problem but to no avail-restart after restart it refuses to charge. This 2-in-1 tablet/pc was purchased about a year ago. And has only had problems since the upgrade. I do not feel comfortable removing the battery as the batter on this particular model is actually enclosed in the casing. As I mentioned I've uninstalled the battery drivers from device managers a few times. Is there:1. A way to get the battery to take a charge without removing it (i.e. troubleshooting site)2. A way to roll they OS all the way back to Windows 7? I've tried rolling it back a few versions but I'm still in Windows 10. Thanks for your help!

I purchased my HP Pavilion a6532f in 2009 and it came preloaded with Windows Vista. It has an AMD Athlon X2 CPU, 3gb RAM, and shows that it supports 64bit OS. I plan on upgrading to 8gb of RAM, I can get this working. Since Microsoft will no longer support Vista soon, I installed Windows 7 64bit (did not upgrade since you can't do an upgrade from 32-64bit). The install completed with no glitches and installed all my drivers. My problem is with Windows Update. It never stops seaching, even after 8 hrs.  I start the "Windows update" as normal, but it never finishes searching. I have already tried the 3 methods listed here - Windows Update Never Stops Looking for Updates. I have installed KB3102810 and KB3135445. All this to no avail.  Any help is appreciated.

After I upgraded the ram memory of my HP DV6 from 4Gb to 8Gb (2 x 4Gb Kingston KTA-MB1333/4G), Windows wont boot anymore. I get blue screens and it keeps rebooting. I believe the specs of the memory are similar to the original Samsung M471B5673EH1-CH9 memory: 1333Ghz, non-ecc, 1.5Volt, Cas latency 9 etc.etc. It's a HP DV6-2140ED laptop with an Intel i5-430m processor and Intel mobile HM55 chipset. The bios detects 8Gb and it also passes the memory check/test. As far as I know I also installed the latest bios firmware: F.1D. Reinstalling my Windows 10 64-bit doesnt work either: with 8Gb I also get blue screens after I try to boot from my Windows 10 bootable usb flash drive. I read of other people having the same problem, but I havent read of a solution yet. What can be done about this?

I just bought a Hp Pavilion dv8000 laptop off of Ebay for my son. The previous owner installed Windows 7 on it and the computer runs real slow. The mouse is jumpy and lags. Some of the letters on the keyboard does not work and I searched online and found out these are common issues for the computer with an upgrade to Windows 7. Big problem is that when they installed Windows 7 they did not create a backup drive so the computer only has the C: drive so I can not restore to factory default like I would like to do. Anyone of any suggestions for me?

A:Re: hp pavilion 15 notebook Usb 3

Hi, It is great to upgrade system to Windows 10, but in the same time, series of issues occur, like the USB device issue. After upgrading the system to Windows 10, you find that your USB device cannot connect to your PC. You may need to plug your external devices like MP3, pen drive, printer, etc. to your computer through the USB ports. So it is very inconvenient that the USB ports don?t work properly. Solutions below may help you fix the USB port issue. Since your USB device works properly before you upgrade the system, the problem most probably is not caused by the USB device. But you can also plug the USB device to another computer. If it unfortunately doesn?t work, you can consider replacing the device. Following are the solutions to figure out the problem. Solution 1: Check if the problem is caused by power supply issue 1. Unplug the power supply and charger plug from your PC.2. Restart your PC. Connect your USB device to the PC again. Then you can plug the power supply.Solution 2:The Power Management would also be the cause of the USB problems. Windows is set to shut down your USB controller to save power by default, sometimes it won?t be able to power it back up. So try following steps to prevent Windows from ?managing? power to your USB controller or the devices.1. Open Device Manager.2. Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers branch.3. Double-click the USB Root Hub device, and click the Power Management tab. (if there?... Read more

wow that is pretty hot... does it always run that hot, or does it only run that hot when he's gaming, or watching a movie? could just be a demanding laptop, but then again you could take it to a PC specialist (comp usa or local computer shop) and get the powersupply checked out. dang if it's melting the tip thats pretty hot... My dad's apple powerbook gets up to 75 degrees celcius when he's just surfing the web and stuff, so hot you have to take it off your legs if you don't want to burn yourself. so get it checked out, might just be a demanding laptop.

I have been using my HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-p174na for casual use (a couple of times a week, nothing strenuous at all) since I purchased it a year and a half ago. Yesterday I completed a spreadsheet and checked/sent some emails and then turned it off and put it on charge overnight. This morning I unplugged it and put it away. Then on getting it out to use again this evening I cannot get it to start. I have checked a lot of support pages and searches for the problem and have tried all solutions I have come across (hard resets, attempting turn on with and without battery and/or AV power cord). Nothing seems to work. There are no flashing lights or noises coming from the notebook at all. There also seems to be no damage to any of the cables or power equipment. Please advise what course of action I should now take.

You dmps are showing code 116, and that can be a problem as small as a driver, but can be hardware, such as memory or worse
atikmpag.sys
You can update the driver.
If it is anything else it is most likely hardware related. Since it is new, you may want to exercise the Warranty. I know from past experience, too many changes will void the warranty.
