I have a Dell Optiplex GX270. When I press the power button, the power button light turns amber, I hear some fans spinning, and the CD drive spinning. However, it never gets to the boot screen (or any screen). If I open the case and press the power button, however, the power button turns green and the computer works fine (loads all the way up and functions like normal). If I close the case after it has started, it continues to run fine. I'm guessing / hoping it's not the mother board or power supply that has directly gone bad... but maybe there is a connection or something? that changes from when it's closed to when it's open. I've heard of something like... the motherboard is shorting out by touching the case... but I'm not really sure where to look for that / how. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

I have an Acer Aspire X1700 (Details
It's about 2 1/2 years old now. Came with Windows Vista, I upgraded it to Windows 7. Also has a newer video card than what came with it.

Anyway, The PSU fan is getting really obnoxious, it gets really loud (more or less like a lawn mower). I have taken the thing apart and have tried every suggestion given to quiet it down, which it does for a whole week or two. This is a small form factor PC, so to even take the power supply out you have to basically take out everything else just to get to it. I have looked for replacements but they are very obsolete. It's only 220W anyway, so i'd like something a little more powerful.

What I want to do is get a larger case that I can use the same hardware is (motherboard, drives, etc) and purchase a larger power supply for that case. 220W really limits the PC. The small case holds a lot of heat even with all fans cleaned and working properly. Even just taking a CD/DVD out that was in it is very hot. I want a case with better airflow than this one.
I really am not sure what kind of case to get that will meet my needs. I don't want anything really fancy. If possible I'd like to get it off newegg.com

Any suggestions would be great.

hi all ,

i have a desktop

i changed my broken case to a new case like

i removed the HDD and the motherboard and the CD-rom ..etc and installed them to a new case

but when i press the switch button it works normally , and the screen display normally and there are no beeps , but after like 20 second my computer turns off automatically ! ,

what may cause this issue ?

A:i replaced all of my computer components from my broken case to other case

could be overheating CPU. Did you apply fresh Thermal paste to the HSF after reinstalling the motherboard? Is it tight and secure? Did you blow out all the dirt, dust and debris from the fans' fins?

I just bought a new computer which came with the standard exhaust fan at the inside back of the case. However, on the sliding side panel which allows access to the interior hardware there is a grid and screw holes that would accommodate a second 80mm case fan. But like most motherboards , this one only has ports for the CPU fan and only one case fan. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to add a second case fan given this limitation? I live in the Southwest and the ambient temperature around an operating system can be pretty brutal in the summer months so the more cooling power the better. Thanks for any suggestions.

Now another question comes up regarding modifying the cooling of my case/ computer etc.

I was wanting to carve two 3 1/2" holes in the top of my case, for two 12cm fans. Now I know fully how to do this, however, I was wondering which direction the air flow should go. Should the fans blow into my case? (Like I suspect) Or should I have them blow out?

The orange highlights are the fans I wish to add. Which direction should I have the air flow setup?

A:Case airflow question before modifying case

I would have them sucking air out. Hot air rises, and the side panel fan will hit the VGA's mb, etc and spread out, also they are right next to the PSU. You wont have any really big difference either in or out , but I would have those two pulling the hot air that manages to make it to the top of the case out. and negative pressure tend to run a bit cooler overall.

I have a new Aopen AX63pro motherboard (ATX form factor) being shipped from California and wonder if my old AT power supply and case will work with the new board. If I need a new supply, is 300 watts "better" than 235w or 200w? If I need a new case, any thoughts on what's the best value? Does an ATX power supply fit into some AT cases (if there is such a thing) or is a dedicated ATX case/power supply needed?

Thanks to anyone taking time to offer an opinion.

A:Will old AT power supply and case support new ATX mobo?

you will most likely need a new case and power supply. Some AT boards will take either a AT or ATX power supply but I have not seen an ATX board that will do both. There may be some exceptions but it is a good bet that you will need to buy some new equipment.

Assume I have a hard disk which supports SATA III (=verified).

I want to put this hard disk into an external hard disk case and connect it by USB v3.0 to my computer.
Later I want to use case and hard disk as backup storage.

Now I doubt that the case supports really SATA III. My guess is that it supports only SATA II.

Ok, I assume the hard disk itself is working with SATA II too.
But I want to use the full speed und feature set of SATA III.

So how can I check the supported SATA versions of the case from Win 7?

Hi guys, my power supply decided to retire Tuesday night and now my computer sits idle. Now I must use the computer at work. Anyways, I had a P3 800mhz computer with 2 40 gig drives, cd burner, some ram, basic sound card, and a pretty good radion gfx card. The computer is getting up there in age so instead of buying a power supply for my slow computer I have decided to build a new tower. My question is.......what do you recommend to someone who uses his computer for internet exploring, spreadsheets, cd burning, picture editing, and of course video gaming. I want a FAST computer. I do also want to add a dvd burner and have lots of usb plugs. I plan on re using my 2 40 gig drives and cd burner, as well as my video card. So basically I need some input for a tower, power supply, mother board, processor, ram, and what ever else would keep me up to speed for awhile. Oh ya, I will be using XP professional. I have not heard good things about Vista. Thanks guys!!

A:What would you use in my case???

I built my PC and I used A8N - Deluxe Motherboard from ASUS. 4800+ AMD 64x2 processor, 4GB (1GB per stick) of Dual channel Kingston Hyper X Ram, 2 SLI XFX Nividia 7800 Geforce videocards. 5.1 surround sound. Pioneer DVD burner, Regular Asus DVD rom, 650 watt Xeon powersupply. And for the case I have a case made by Aspire the Navigator. The Full size tower have four fans and one giant exaust fan. 6 USB Ports 4 in back two in front and can add two more with a usb slot that comes with the motherboard. The case has a window and lights up Blue. the who thing cost me $1,700 those are better spec than what you can get from aleinware and for a better price. Shop Newegg they helped me out alot. Good luck man!!

Malware is ever morphing & the tools we use are constantly updated. It doesnt make much sense to keep a copy around for a rainy day.

Let's look at it this way..

I have NOD32, Zone Alarm, Adware SE Pro, MVPS Host File & Spyware Blaster on my machine. I have never EVER been infected.

As long as you maintain your defences, the likelihood of getting infected is minimal.

Hello!

I know everyone has their own opinions about how things should be done. I'm hoping that getting yours will help me make my decision.

I'm going to be trying to build my first PC soon and I'm down to picking the PSU.

Originally, I was going to buy a Case/PSU combo, but now I'm not sure about it.

I've acquired an ATX PC that I could strip and use the case from.

Questions:

1. Which would be a better way to go? I've heard some people say that PSU's that come pre-installed in cases are not so good.

2. If I were to purchase just the PSU and use the case that I have, would I need to look for anything special to make sure it would mount properly, or are the PSU's pretty universally mounted?

3. I've been looking at this PSU: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=17-153-006&depa=0
What are your thoughts and suggestions?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
ahnadahodo

P.S.
I've also seen PSU's (as well as other components) sold as "OEM" and "Retail", what would the difference be?

A:Case/PSU vs. PSU only?

Generally speaking PSU that comes with the case are of lower quality. Personally, I think its a personal preference.

Some reputable PSU manufacturers include Antec, Enermax and etc. You might be better off buying a PSU from them.

As long as its an ATX power supply, the power supply should be able to fit properly into any ATX case.

Ok, I have a HP Pavilion 325c PC. Im getting a new PC case for it (doing a little modding..making it look kool ) Anyway, HP told me that the motherboard was definately compatible, but they said that the power supply inside the new case might not work (they weren't sure) Anyway, the power supply inside the new case is 400 Watts, while the power supply inside my current case is 200 Watts. So I don't have to call staples (they told me to call my nearest HP Reseller), can anyone on here tell me whether or not I can hook up a motherboard that was previously on a 200 Watt power supply to a 400 watt power supply. I purchased this PC that came with this Thermaltake V3 Black Edition. Well, it's all right except it hasn't that small front LED that allows me to check disk activity. So I can't see if my PC has that infamous "grinding" that many times means trouble.

So I wonder if there is some app I can put, say, on the system tray to check disk activity the same way of that missing LED.

TIA.

A:The case of the LED-less case

Hi,

According to the manual of your case and what I could see on pictures of it there should be leds available I think for power-on and hdd activity, maybe if you purchased the computer already assembled they did not connect the leds.
I'm not shure but I think hdd on the left middle and power-on on the right.
If you still want a hdd activity light on your taskbar you can try DKharddrive-light, I don't know if it will work on Windows 7 but you can give it a try: Downloads | DKpcCODE | Custom Software Development

The case my motherboard is in originally contained A Intel 386 processor motherboard, a CD ROM drive and 1 20gig hard drive. I put in a new power supply, a Intel D845GVSR mother board (about 3 years ago), with a Celeron processor (256m memory I plan to increase it to 1g) two DVD drives (1 single layer 1 dual layer), 2 hard drives (1 80g 1 200g). The case did not come with a case fan and I never put one in.
We just had a brief warm spell and the computer did not respond after several hours of use. I am guessing itís overheating (because there is no case fan) (I know the processor fan is clean because I cleaned it about a month ago with compressed air)
I guessing overheating because I unplugged it (it has no on/off switch) after several hours it was fine,
I donít remember the size of the power supply I put in but based on pictures at CompUSAís website I believe it to be a 300w.
My questions are
1) Is the power supply sufficient or should I upgrade to 400w.
2) How do I determine what size case fan to put in

try reversing the connector on the pins. If this doesnt work try one of the other leds on your case to see if it works with the HD pins

Hi guys,

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gaming-Co...t=UK_Computing_DesktopPCs&hash=item4164e0d347

^
I want to buy that motherboard

But i'm not sure which case to get and i think i might need an IO Plate aswell

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Novatech-...ting_DesktopComponents_RL&hash=item1e6d10d2ee

I found that and it comes with a 450w PSU would this case be what i'm looking for?

And can anyone link me to an IO Plate for that motherboard?

Thanks!

A:PSU And Case

"i think i might need an IO Plate as well"

Should be included. On the Ebay post click on Ask [Seller] A Question to find out for sure.

As to the power supply, for general computing it may be sufficiently adequate. For hard core gaming.....it may be lacking. There's more to a power supply than just it's wattage.

Again, I would ask seller for more information.

Hi, I purchased the ARCTIC COOLING AF12Pro PWM 120mm Case Fan after reading its decent reviews at newegg. I don't know the difference between TC and PWM but it seemed like PWM was the right choice. After receiving it, I noticed, unlike my previous thermaltake case fan, this had no where to put the screws it came with. There's a little rubber thing going through some hole where the screws should go but it looks like it's what's holding the fan together so I havn't pulled them out. Like a confused customer, I went to arctic cooling's main website for further instructions (like the sad-excuse-for-a-instruction-guide said to do for further instructions) but it had the same exact installation instructions that came with the fan, which by the way only instruct you on how to install it as a cpu fan.

I'd like to know if I maybe bought the wrong type of fan (PWM and whatnot) or if it's just 100% operator error (which it might just be). Any and all help is appreciated. Please and thank you.

A:Case Fan - Not Case fan?

Those are noise reduction fan mounts.
Basically you put them through the fan mount holes and
pull on the end till they pop through enough to hold them
in place.
They are designed to reduce vibration noise caused by the fan.
That is if they look something like this.

should the fan be exhausting out the back of the case or blowing the air to the inside of the case? Thanks

can someone be kind enough to tell how hard it is to upgrade a pc case to a more moden one is it going to be very hard to move guts from one to another
thanks

A:new pc case

If your MB is of the newer kind (ATX) then it's easy and everything should slip right in. If you have an older computer then the MB might not fit. Just make sure that you ground yourself by touching something metal to discharge any static electricity that might have accumulated on your hands before you start the change over.

i want to replace my pc case with a more up to date one how hard is it going to be to take all the guts out of old one and set up in new one
please help

A:new case

It depends. If you have an older computer a new case probably won't work nor the power supply (if it comes with one). New cases are ATX and you need an ATX motherboard. If you have an ATX MB now then the swap should be easy. Just make sure you ground yourself because static electricity can fry a CPU.

Just by doing this ive knocked 10 degrees off my max GPU temps in stress tests (72 down to 62 ish ) and CPU 7 - 10 degrees after 10 minutes of Aida 64. I have to say it isnt as quiet as my NZXT and i didnt compensate for ambient temps but our house is always about the same temperature (too hot :/ )

Q: pc case

i have a proprietary case from gateway. i believe its a midtower. my son has been playing alot of warcraft with the pc. have an antec 480watt psu, geforce 6600gt graphics card, plenty of memory, pent 4 2.6ghz, good mobo and all that. problem is everything is really crammed into the case and sometimes he plays for hours on the weekends and i believe its overheating and after awhile freezes up. i have a couple of extra fans , one is a slot fan but the case isn't really designed for adequate ventilation for longterm gaming. are there midtower cases designed with more space or are all of them tight? should i go to a full size case? i just don't know that much about cases but i know i need more room for better air ventilation. any case suggestions would be appreciated. lioke to stay under 75.00

Since I am a computer nerd and I love messing with computers, I figured I want to modify my own case. But since this is going to be my fist time, I am gonna use an old Gateway case...from like...98-2000's. I've already started it last week cutting out an window on the side panel.

So, right now it looks like this.

Notice I've already put some pretty lights there. I got those for free from Radio shack last week.

This is the "skeleton" of the case with the system inside.

P2 400mhz
100mhz FSB
320MB RAM
CD-ROMx52
Floppy Disk Drive.

Very old simple system, but I'm not worried about the system, I want to make this case look modern and make it so it will fit in with other cases. Yes, It's messy, but I'm not done with it...I got all the parts from scratch and put it together with parts that actually work...

Now onto paint.

These are all the panels I'll need to paint. Black will be the color. Theme will be Black, Blue and White. Everything will be black, and on the right side of the case I'll spray paint a stencil on.

But here's a question for you guys. when I get newer parts and be able to build a better system, would I be able to fit my mother-board in there?

Here's a picture of the back.

I think that's an ATX. But I am not sure...please tell?

Also...

What kind of spray paint should I use? Regular Plastic/metal paint?

What kind of glass/plastic window shoul... Read more

A:My First Case Mod

Hmm

Well for the plastic, id try Krylon Fusion spray paint you can buy it about anywhere it actually melts the plastic a bit and then bonds to it.. For the metal, you can use any spray paint but no matter what its not going to be the best lasting stuff and will chip or flake if you look at it funny, well not really but it isnt the best if you move your case around a lot. Just sand it first, get it rough then paint it, the paint will stick better.

As far as the window goes, plexi is the easiest to work with and cut. I suggest using pop rivets to secure it to the side panal but make some type of tension bracket that you can rivet to and at the same time hold the plexi in snug as if you try to rivet the plexi directly it wil crack.

Yes the case is a ATX case....

So I've been building my new gaming rig as suggested by Rage here. I have almost everything with the exception of the RAM, graphics card, hard drive and optical drive. I got my motherboard on friday and wanted to give it a little test drive. However when I pushed the power button on my case it doesn't turn on. I know it's not my power supply since I hooked it up with my old system and it works fine and I also don't think it's my motherboard since I tried out my case's power switch with my old motherboard and it doesn't work. Is there something I'm missing or should I start contacting Antec to see if they'll send me a new switch?

P.S. : I also tried hooking the Reset SW into the PWR slot on my motherboard to see if that works and it doesn't.

A:Bad Case?

double and triple check that you have the PWR and reset plugged in to the correct place Zach, that gets mis-wired more than anything else.

Are you in the U.S.? and are you plugging it into an outlet that can be used by a regular household lamp?

If so, then keep it on 115v -- 230v is a higher voltage system with different characteristics.

Hello, I'm not that good with hardware and i'm experiencing some problems.. I just noticed that my computer's case (i'm not sure if it's called a case, it's the black thingie that you see outside the computer) becomes hot after a while and it gives out really hot air from the back where the psu fan is located.

I've went to my friend's place and checked his computer, which is on most of the day and it never gives out any hot air from the back nor does the case get hot :s

So any suggestions on what i should do? Is this bad or it's just normal?

So I decided to build my own computer. I'm deciding on what type of case to get and I don't know which is better full tower or mid tower. Size doesn't matter so much I'm more concerned with room, that is making sure there is enough room for a big video card like a Radeon 6970 and cooling. I was looking at these two cases one is a mid size the other is full size.

Mid size by Antec

Hello,

I am currently using a Thermaltake Soprano case and the cooling is...

I have just bought a new GPU card and would like to upgrade with a new case.

My system spec is:

[email protected]
6GB DDR2 6400
Asus CuCore 1GB R5770
ASRock Penryn1600SLI
5.5TB Various HDD's
650W Corsair PSU

The case I have been looking at is the Antec 1200 - any other good cases with the same cooling permormance?

A:Best Sub £130 case?

What's wrong with the Antec 1200? That case really doesn't require subbing, it's perfect in its own right.

The Antec 900 (2), is pretty spiffy also. It supports water cooling, is fairly roomy, has good airflow, and would be great if you wanted a mid-tower rather than a full.

I'm linking a few Thermaltake offerings, tentatively in you approximate price range;

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133056

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133072

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133073

Antec's customer service is stellar, while Cooler Master's is wretched, hence their absence from these suggestions.

im geting this case...
http://www.thermaltake.com/product/Chassis/fulltower/Kandalf_lcs/vd4000bws.asp
im just wondering if it supports my cpu (amd anthlon 64 2x 4600+) ((as i dont understand wat it says.))

A:case help! PLZ!

hi topps,

the case itself doesn't matter. any case will work as long is it accepts the motherboard you plan on using.

since you plan on buying a case/water cooler combo, the compatibility issue would be with the CPU waterblock. the specs state "all AMD K8 series".... All current Athlon 64's are part of the K8 family, so your's should be "supported". basically the waterblock will include 3 different mounting brackets for each supported socket type.

cheers

Well, I have virus issues at the moment and will try another fix tonight when I get home, thanks to HJT help. But, if things are too messed up I'm thinking I may need to format the hard drive to clear it out. What I was wondering was, how do I make a boot disk - and use it? I assume I would need one if going that route. Obviously I'm not very knowledgeable on these things.Or, if I do an upgrade to XP Professional from XP Home, will this totally replace the screwed up registry and it's associated virus? I'm toying with doing the upgrade if one of my sons doesn't cough up my XP Home CD. Thanks for any input here!Krooz

A:Just In Case

The XP Home and Pro CDs should be bootable. If you're going to upgrade from Home to Pro, and you want a clean slate, you can format through the CD services. I'd suggest doing a full format so you know you're getting rid of everything on that drive.

Im buying a new computer I got everything but the case and proccessor. I want to know what the best case is for under $70? Im thinking about buying the raidmax 868 unless somone shows me somthing better....

A:What case to buy?

You can check out www.newegg.com. It's possible to check every case sorted by price. I always like to just look at the cases with many reviews. I found myself a good $40 case that nearly everyone loved.

I'm building a new computer and don't know what kind of PSU to get, I found this one but I don't know if it suits my every need, http://tiny.cc/Raidmax530W. If possible I would like to stick with something found on newegg.com since I'm getting my whole computer from there. I'm also looking for a case, I would like it to look cool and have good ventilation (preferably under $75). I found this one http://tiny.cc/CoolerMasterCenturion but the reviews made me wonder how well it worked (even though 78% of the people gave it a 5/5). If anyone has knows of a cooler one that suits my needs and is still under $75 please let me know. Lastly I do not know which of the processors I have listed are better, I like the one on newegg because it has reviews and because it's on newegg. I don't know anything about the other one but it is a little cheaper so I was thinking the one on newegg might be better.

Thanks,

The current case I have for my computer is half-broken, so I want to buy another. My motherboard is a Via P4M800PRO-M478. What size of tower can I get? I know that it's a mid-tower atx case. My current case is on ebay (where I bought it from the exact auction):

I'm looking at this on eBay:

A:Help with new ATX Case

Most ATX cases are also set up to hold MicroATX boards (like yours), so your mobo should fit. However, that power supply is most likely of very low quality and should be replaced. According to the specs on the ebay page, it only puts out 18A on the 12v line, which is pretty low for a 450 watt psu. You can get a decent Fortron FCS from Newegg for around $35.

I would like to get a new case for my computer. Since my motherboard is in an ATX case now I assume it will fit in any case I get that is ATX. Is this correct? Also, when I switch cases, can I just leave the processor on the mother board, unscrew the board and put it in the new case? Thanks for any assistance.

A:New Case

Most ATX cases are indeed generic, with one possible exception. Many ATX motherboards have different placements of the ports, and frequently ship with a small removable insert for the port section in the back of the case. There is no reason not to leave the processor and memory in the MB for the transfer.

okay sounds like a stupid question, but I found this to be rather odd. I was working on another problem with a computer, I ended up having to open the case to fix the problem.

To my amazement I opened the case up and there is not one case fan in the computer. The only thing that is cooling it is the fan in the power supply and the CPU fan . I'm kind of thankfull I put it on a flat, elevated surface to give it more ventalation(has a fan vent on the bottom).

I think I'll eventually get around to putting a few fans in this one, But I'm curious to see anyone else has found this on a computer? They got the computer from a computer show, so it's not a name brand.

Hi Forums,

Im building a Mediacenter (HTPC) and have gotten a nice hardware configuration together:

Asus P5K SE
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.67GHz
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro P
4GB DDR2 800MHz PC2-6400
Seagate 500GB HD 7200 SATAII/3
Inno3D Nvidia Geforce 8400GS (256MB)
NorthQ 500W Fanless ODB PSU

I have assembled everything in an old PC case that have a pre installed case fan, which makes a lot of noise. I am wondering what would be the best way to deal with this noise issue. Would I need it at all - can I unplug it? Or should I play it safe, and go look for a low noise replacement?

I am not a hardware expert - and was in doubt if this is the correct forum... for my cooling issue?

Hope someone can help out.

Soeren

A:Do I need a case fan?

I wouldn't go without any fan at all. You can replace it with a quieter one. Compare the decibel ratings of the different fans to get one that is relatively quiet. If your case permits fitting a larger fan, they will move the same or more air at a lower RPM which equals less noise. There are adjustable speed fans too so you can minimize noise. However, adequate cooling is the first priority.

I?m looking for a computer case that is cheap (of course), provide good cooling, and quite (fan noise). My preferences:

-Price between $50-$70
-Mid-tower (no flip out ?front door? to access optical drives)
-Clear window on the side panel (be nice if It have a fan hole)
-1 120mm fan hole from the front that will blow air pass hard drive for cooling/intake
-1 120mm fan for exhaust in the back
-Easy install (use those no-tool type rail thingy)
-No need for PSU, I got one already.

I think I?m asking for too much here for the price so if you know another case that is a bit more or better let me know anyways. I like to see what other people are using. Thanks.

Ok, I'm building a computer, but I'm not sure about which case to get. I was hoping for one that comes with a power supply, mostly because they are cheaper. I was reccommend an Antec one, but Newegg doesn't have it anymore.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129155

Im looking for something that is cheap, but will last a good while. I'd probably only want to spend $100, but if I could get an okay case with a nice power supply seperate, I wouldn't mind spending a bit more money if it would last longer. So can some one please help me find a good case and power supply. Thanks!

I recently had a power supply go bad, and was thinking of making a case fan from the fan inside of the old PS and using the wires from inside of there. How would I go about doing this?

A:Case Fan

Here's the pinout for a standard molex, just find a old molex connector and splice the wires in.

Power Supply plug 5.25-inch 4-pin Molex

Pin# Color Function
1 Yellow +12V DC
2 Black Ground
3 Black Ground
4 Red +5V DC
Normally all that's needed for this kinda thing is the yellow and a black,
but if the fan spins too fast tye the yellow and the red and you'll get +7V DC instead of +12V. Or just use the red and the black for +5V's.

Hi guys, i'm back from my vacation, and at last I got my case half way trough my modding process. What did i do so far you ask? I removed all plastic parts, painted it in black, got the wires in order, and made a cool power switch. I still want to cover the side and front in Plexiglas & put on some fans .It's not much, but have a look...

Pic1 - full image of my desk ,the case is on the right (duh...)
Pic2 - a close up on the case
Pic3 - another close up, notice the innovative power on/off switch at the bottom right corner! Got that from an old Yugo

I want a case with a FULL size side panel window (not half of one...).
I was looking to get the NZXT apollo, but im not a very big fan of the front.
Can anyone recommend some nice cases? (if it already has LEDs, i need blue ones)
i was looking at the X-jupiter and X-telstar, but im not a huge fan of the way apevia throws their name all over the front.

A:Case for $75

Well...what size were you looking for?

This one has full view of the side and is $39 on sale, and the reviews were positive.

Struggling to find the right case for me, where can I find a case with:

ATX
Soundproofing
Dustproofing
Space for at least 5 Hard Drives
Space for at least 1 Optical Drive
Space for at least 1 ssd (optional since I currently use a converter)
Space to fit a HD Radeon 5970 / HD Radeon 7990
Space for large fans / cooling design
Very Heavy/average (optional - Not a downside)

A:Appropriate Case

I would recommend the CM Silencio 650, which is the most silent case I can think of, but it cant support the 310mm 7990. That means you need a full tower case. I think your best bet is the Fractal Design Define XL R2, which comes in grey and black. It has 10 HDD bays (SSDs just need a converter) and a optical drive bay. It is also soundproof, has filters for fans (dust proof), and can support up to 330mm cards with the drive bays intact.
Grey:http://www.amazon.com/Fractal-Desig...4693&sr=8-1&keywords=Fractal+Design+Define+XL
Black: http://www.amazon.com/Fractal-Desig...4693&sr=8-2&keywords=Fractal+Design+Define+XL

I've got a new case with two front USB 1.1 ports. My new mobo has USB 2.0 support, and the pinouts for USB don't match the case's 1.1. Is there any way I can make use of these ports on the case? I'm not concerned that they are USB 1.1, as I'll just be connecting a digital camera there.

I have a case that was bought about 6 months ago. How can I tell if it is usuable for a P4 mobo ?

The power supply within is a SUNTEK Model PW-300ATXA

A:P4 Case ?

If the case is for an ATX motherboard it should work fine. The only issue might be the power supply.
