G580 - Missing Audio Driver

Q: G580 - Missing Audio Driver

In my attempt to reinstall my Lenovo G580 audio drivers I deleted one and I can't find it. I think it might be a Dolby Advanced Audio driver because I'm pretty sure thats what my computer has. When I looked at device manager there were orignally 2 drivers under "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers". After I deleted one, the driver that was left is Intel(R) Display Audio. I hope that helps identify the missing driver. Also I would like a download link to the Intel(R) Display Audio driver because i will need to reinstall that one as well.

Im almost definently monitering this post constantly so if you reply expect a response very soon
Thanks for the help

Hi LA314 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You may visit the support website for your particular model , choose your appropriate OS and under the Audio category you can try to install offered drivers for your particular system.

Check all other sub category as chipset update is helpful.

Update us how it goes.

Hello.

I have a Lenovo G580 with Windows 8. I have a weird problem with audio. If the default audio is set as internal speakers and I plug in my headphones the sound just keeps coming from the internal speakers. But if I set the headphones as default, I can switch between the speakers and headphones as I want and there is no problem if only I play music from my computer.

If I try to play something from my browser, however, the sound only comes from the internal speakers and connecting the headphones does nothing. Except (and this is where it gets weird) if I play something from my computer first using the headphones. Then I can play anything from the browser and hear it through the headphones as long as I don't plug them out. If I plug them out, the sound switches back to the internal speakers and trying to plug in the headphones again doesn't do anything. So I have to play something from my computer again with the headphones plugged in and then switch to my browser to again play everything through my headphones.

What's wrong with it? Any way to make it work as it should work?

Hello,

Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

I just recently bought a Diamond Stealth Radeon 9250 (PCI) card to replace my old ATI Rage 128 Pro (AGP) card.

I had to take out the old 128 Pro card in order to install the Radeon, and everything seemed to work perfectly until I realised I had NO SOUND.

I've launched HWiNFO32 and it says "unknown or none" under the audio tab.

Could it be that the 128 Pro card had some audio hardware within it?

According to my computer's reference site, (http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dzuul/specs.htm#audio) the audio card is integrated; I'm assuming that means it shouldn't have been affected by the removal of the old video card, right?

"ADI SoundMAX 2.0 Integrated Audio Driver (ADI 1885 chip set)"
My computer: Dell Dimension 4100
- Pentium 3
- Win2000pro

Perhaps it is just an incompatibility issue between the Radeon and sound card? Would this be fixed by installing software, or would a new sound card be required?
If anyone could please guide me to a solution, I'd be very, very grateful.

Thanks a lot.

Hello All,

My Lenovo Laptop, Lenovo G580 Model 2189, was upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Up until then I had been using Lenovo Solutions Center (LSC) and the Backup utility within it.

Now post the upgrade the Backup option has disappeared from the LSC. I am running LSC Version 2.8.

I upgraded to LSC 3.x after reading somewhere that I should do this if I have upgradred to Windows 10. Then the only option I got was the periodic hardware scan for problems. So I downgraded again to LSC 2.8.

Will LSC Backup work under Windows 10 ?
Is there a Windows 10 version of LSC I can download that does have the backup option ?

Thanks All
John.

This topic has been covered in the past but the fixes listed there haven't helped.

I have reinstalled the drivers from Realtek. I have put in my mobo disk and my xp sp3 disk and tried installing from them, no help. All the other drivers seem to be there just one missing.

I went into windows services and the audio is started and set to automatic.

I have attached a screenshot of what is missing,

Weird part is, I have audio just fine on my headphones but when I plug in surround sound speakers the only way I get sound is by changing the 'effects'. Those of course are crap and you cant hear much. Media player volume works(doesn't sound right though) but no sound on browser streaming (Chrome)

Any other suggestions?

I am using an Acer Aspire Model D150 Notebook and suddenly found I had lost my volume and also the volume icon in the right hand side bottom tray.

Making some searches, I found that my Realtek Hi Definition Audio Driver was either missing or corrupt, so I followed these steps from Major Geeks Website,
here is the thread that I followed :http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=183547

These are the steps that I followed, given by imadork8317

(Solved) Re: Realtek HD audio driver corrupt or missing - no sound I had this same problem try the following solution

Go to Start

Click Run

Type regedit

go to the following location

\hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\control\class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

delete any values that have upperfilters or lowerfilters

restart

The result now is that my notebook freezes at Start Up and I can't move my mouse pointer to log-in/log-on. I've tried removing the battery, reinserting it, and start again, but no success, the mouse pointer is still frozen. How I wish I hadn't followed this dork!!

Can anyone help please? Thanks.

I had this problem as well after doing updates and uninstalling some prgorams.

To fix it (assuming your using media player), go to sound devices menu, and instead of selecting your sound card, select default. This worked for me, however I have onboard (disabled) and a pci sound card so it may not work for you.

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

AC97 is usually onboard sound.

If your system is an oem such as Dell/HP etc, then go to your computer manufacturers website and download and install the correct audio drivers for your system.

If you system is custom built, you will need to go to your mobo(motherboard) manufacturers website for the audio drivers.

A:multimedia audio controller driver missing

Hi

Classic case of XP thinking it has the right driver, first off you need to locate correct driver, places like www.driversguide.com is a good place to start, once found just choose to update the driver from within windows, by going into device manager and double clicking the item with the yellow question mark and choose to update driver, you will need to force XP to look in the downloaded location then it should be a case of reboot and your done.

Just so you know there are several version of the realtec driver, try googling the make of your board, ie "imperial_GL sound driver", failing that download Hirens bootdisk and use one of the many tools to identifty the sound chip correctly.

hi acemod13,

I looked at the Lenovo Energy Management driver for Windows 10 and upon observing the installer behavior, it extract the ACPI driver files (58KB) to C:\ProgramData\Lenovo\ACPIDriver (this may explain why the installer closes right after extracting).

If you're seing an Unknown Device in the Device Manager with an ACPI hardware ID (see image below) then try to update the driver manually and point it to the C:\ProgramData\Lenovo\ACPIDriver folder

If you're unable to see the driver files, I've uploaded them here.

Hello,

Fresh install of Windows XP Pro SP3 on a Dell Dimension 2350. All drivers installed smoothly until I got to the onboard audio. Went to install, and it resulted in the Corrupt or Missing Driver (Error 39) error. Uninstalled it, tried again, nothing.

Tried all sorts of different ideas/drivers to no avail.

Finally gave up on the onboard, and tried a different Soundblaster PCI card. Same driver corrupt error.

Tried a different PCI card in a different slot - same error.

Every audio card I try results in a driver corrupt error. I've tried reinstalling Windows, and I've tried system restore. I've tried XP Pro SP2 instead of SP3, and tried Microsoft UAA drivers.

Also disabled onboard audio in the bios. No luck. Flashed bios from A00 to A02. No luck.

This is driving me nuts. I've scoured the internet for clues. Any ideas?

Thanks,
JB

It still says that I am missing the "audio device on high definition audio bus". Shouldn't the file at the above link take care of the problem? Anyone know where I could find the driver I need?

A:audio device on high definition audio bus missing for xp pro on lenovo t61 pc

bad thing about IBM's website is they sometimes post more than one driver. Look through the list to see if there are anymore audio drivers for Xp listed.

I could look, but IBM's site needs the unit type in order to look for drivers/manuals. 4 diget number on the white sticker on bottom of the laptop. for example

- ThinkPad R61(type):
- 7732, 7733, 7735, 7736, 7737, 7738, 7742
- 7743, 7751, 7753, 7754, 7755
- 8914, 8918, 8919, 8920, 8927, 8928, 8929
- 8942, 8943, 8944, 8945, 8947, 8948, 8949

those are laptop types that IBM uses, am sure you noticed that on the page you linked :)

Hi Folks,

Having just registered I wasn't entirely sure where to post this little annoyance.

Up until last night, prior to closing down the 'puter,I've seen all useful, and relevant information about my multimedia files (audio, video & the 2 combined) appear in the infotip when hovering the mouse pointer over a file, whether it's just an icon,or a thumbnail.

So,I boot up this morning, having not changed a single thing in my windows configuration, only to see that all audio information is now missing,so all I now see on hovering over a video file, for example is:

itemtype:vlc media file (.mp4)
size:22.6MB
length:00:03:10

And that's it,no bitrate, and no audio information whatsoever,so wondered if anyone else has had this happen, and more importantly, have they found a solution?

The videos still play just fine, including the audio,by the way.

Sorry to be longwinded, just thought it better to include all relevant info right from the off.

Win 7 Home Premium 64bit,all up to date.

A:All audio info missing from mouseover infotips...audio still functions

Phewwww sorted.

Ran sfc /scannow a few times, both at bootup & from within windows, which found nothing amiss,so I finally tried what is now glaringly obvious, and uninstalled, then reinstalled vlc, which needless to say, solved the problem in about 30 seconds.

I feel a bit daft, but it isn't the 1st time, nor do I doubt it'll be the last,so,rather than edit the original post,I'll leave it up there to remind folks (as if they need reminding) that the most obvious, and simplest solutions staring us in the face can often be the most efficient.

Hey everybody,

Not sure if anyone else has had this problem, but i've recently purchased a box set of DVD's but when i play them through my laptop i can't hear anything.
They are legitimate DVD's - not pirated copies.
All of my other DVD's work just fine ... its just this 4 disc box set, and then had the same problem with a DVD i borrowed from a friend.
The region on the discs are correct, as is the region setting for the player on my laptop.
The bizarre thing is ... when i play the disc, .. i can hear the sound during the opening logo, ya know the one for the production/distribution compnay ??
Its when i get ot the menu, or play the movies themselves, ... there's no audio.

Its really annoying me that this has occurred so randomly.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers.

a. Have you tried playing them in a stand-alone player? If not, do so.You may need to check the audio channels for those movies (very rare case scenario).b. Is the dvd on your computer a rom or a burner?Moderator Edit: Split this reply from original post in wrong forum to attach here. ~ Animal

I just bought a notebook Lenovo G450 and I had drivers not found problem. My OS is Windows XP SP2. In Device Manager, there are four "Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus" device with exclamation mark. Below is the link to the screenshot of my device manager (pardon me, you have copy-paste the link manually since my post count is still below 5 so I cannot post link/image here):

There is no sound problem since I had successfully installed the sound driver from lenovo (The name is "Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221" as you can see on the screenshot above) and the sound is working without problem. I also had installed Microsoft UAA Bus Driver before installing the sound driver.

I had tried installing realtek and nvidia high definition audio driver and all required drivers from lenovo (http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_list.aspx?CategoryID=370748), but still no avail. The four yellow exclamation marks is still exist.

So I need help to identify what actually are the devices that shown as "Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus"? And where can I get the driver for that devices?

These are the device IDs:

Code:

Hi,

Got a niggling problem with installing a driver for my onboard sound. I recently bought a motherboard bundle (Nforce 7050M-M) and I have got everything working fine but I just cannot install the driver for this. I'm currently using OS XP SP3.

It seems like I have tried every everthing that i've seen posted on a similar problem. I have all the latest drivers for windows, motherboard & Bios.

When I first had the problem it was a code 39 error on the device manager, now its a code 1 error (i'm can't rembmer at what point this changed as i've tried so many things).

Does anyone have solution for this problem?

Please help, thanks.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium on my Dell Inspiron E1505.

I have had no problems with it for several years; however, recently my computer has booted with a red 'X' on my audio and tells me that "No Audio Output Device is Installed." I checked my Drivers and my High Definition Sound and 2 Base System Device drivers have Yellow Question Marks by them. I tried to update the drivers manually but it says Windows Cannot Find Support for your Base System Device and it says my High Definition Audio is already up to date. I have also tried uninstalling the drivers and rebooting Windows to let the system automatically search and update the drivers. This too has failed. I do not have my Windows 7 disc available at the moment to be able to do a clean install.

Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

I tried to update this driver (Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus) on my computer, but I receive an error every time. It has a yellow exclamation mark by it. The reason I want this to function is so I can have sound come out of my TV when I plug in my HDMI. When I try to update it  I get a Intel(R) Display Audio Data Error. I have windows 10 and a Dell Inspiron 15-3521. It shows under "other devices" in my device manager, but should be under "sound, video, and game controllers." The device status is:The drivers for this device are not installed. hello everyone:

i looked in on seven forums trying to find a fix for my driver problem, a lot of friends here were helpfull, i like to give back a little even if my pc is working fine now.

my pc is a desktop running windows 7 pro, motherboard esc a780gm-a, i had a problem with my hd audio driver, under my control panel audio device i only could see "no audio device installed" even when i installed it 10 times, i also saw on my right conner "no audio output installed"

i had a logitech camera installed.

the fix:
i found that my logitech camera was somehow in conflict with my audio device, it kep telling me "communication mic ???" something like that, well after uninstall the logitech camera software my audio came back and its now working perfect.

i hope this helps.

check if you have a camera with a built in mic, this might be your problem.
thank you all.

Hi,

I have just installed the audio driver for my motherboard, restarted the computer and it seems that driver doesn't do anything at all. I have the speaker icon in the tray bar with a red 'x' on it, and it says: "No Audio Output Device is installed". Why is that? I tried the driver that's on the motherboard CD and also the one from Realtek's website, and while they are different versions, the problem is identical.

straight after these were put in, My sound card went dysfunctional. it has power, but the aurulium sound agent 2 program will not install completely. it will begin to install but before long it will say, VDI32.exe has encountered a problem and must shut down. after that an error message appears saying "failed to obtain 805 bus interface" and directly after that "805 Registration failed!"

after this i attempt to open aurilum sound agent 2 and it states that "The QVE bus driver is not detected! Reinstall the Qsound virtual audio devices bus enumerator driver."

this message is also displayed on startup of my computer.

I am in desperate need of some help, Its driving me crazy. it also seems to be affecting other applications on my computer.

Please help.

Thankyou.

Hey,

I use a Dell notebook inspiron 15, windows 7. Yesterday i was watching my files and programs. I deleted some programs i never use. At some moment, i saw a program called IDT audio. I thought it was a download which i never used, so i deleted it. However, when i watched a video, there was no sound. Realising that I removed the driver, i tried several system restores. It didn't work so i just tried downloading IDT audio again. Despite the fact i couldn't find it in my files, it was selected as audio driver, with a yellow triangle though. It still doesn't work.. I don't know what i should do next?

In Device Manager click on it and then Driver Tab, update Automatically.

After installing W8 on a Toshiba satellite laptop, all went well except Realtek AC97 won't install. Re-installing the driver didn't work. Windows reveals a code 10 and mentions the driver did not install correctly. Naturally there are no sound devices present with this occurrence. Plugging in an external USB sound device (creative sound blaster) works perfectly, just not as convenient as having the internal Realtek AC97 sound device working. I have an ASUS P9X79pro with Win 10 ultimate? that was upgraded from Win 8. I have a multi boot system with old versions like Win 7, Win 8, etc.

I have been noticing that my Giga network will sometime reset from 1000 to 100 so decided to upgrade the drive to the Win 10, 64bit driver. The installation failed and I don?t recall what the issue was. Sorry, I didn?t expect to be in this much trouble so I just went ahead to fix the problem

The status now is that all NICs that I have or ad to the system shows up nicely in the device manager under network adapters but when I look at the Network and Sharing Center, there are no networks.

I have deleted all the network adapters, rebooted and the devices are repopulated in device manager but no networks are available in the Network and Sharing Center.

I have tried adding various other network adapters like 2 USB Giga Ethernet adapters and 3 different WiFi USB devices. 4 of them are new, Win 10 compatible devices. They all show up in device manager and nothing in Network and Sharing Center.

Basically, it sees the network adapters in device manager but the Network and Sharing Center says I don?t have any devices.

I tried to restore to before the diver update but I don?t have a restoration point. I also don?t have a backup to restore.

It looks like I need to remove all network software from Win 10 and reinstall it.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Did you allow HP to scan for missing drivers?

A:Sound Driver/Audio Driver

Hi kyledibiase, and welcome to TSG.

You will probably need use the Internet connected computer to go to the motherboard manufacturer's web site if the sound controller is built-in or the expansion board manufacturer's web site if the sound controller is a separate plug-in card. Then check if they have a Windows XP compatible driver for that particular board available for download. They should also have information on the correct method for installation of the drivers. In some cases, they may be bundled into an executable installer program that will handle all the details when run.

Download the driver file(s) and put them on some media (flash drive, burned CD, portable HD, etc.) that will allow you to transfer them to the problem computer for installation.

Why have you no access to the internet on the computer in question is it a question of drivers? Goto start right click on my computer click the hardware tab click devices manager scroll down to sound and video controllers and click on the plus sign see what the name of your audio device is (on mine its Realtek AC97 audio.) when you have the name goto the pc you can get online with and type it into your search box. Goto the home page and download the driver. Then you will have to copy it to cd and install it on the computer with no sound.

Hi There ,

I just reformatted my Gateway NV54 laptop with windows Vista on it.
My sound is working fine but my microphone is not working at all. I have tried both the inbuilt mic and an external one.
I downloaded the latest audio driver from http://support.gateway.com/product/default.aspx?modelId=2376 which is the conexant 4.98.9.0. (x84)

When I run the driver setup it just says "Driver installation failed: Could not find the device for this driver."
I am confused because as far as I know because my sound is working that means my audio driver working?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could not find the device for this driver

That error message suggests to me that you're trying to install the wrong driver for that sound device.
Please double-check on the Gateway website, there may be a choice of two or more audio drivers for that model, depending on what hardware was available at the factory when your laptop was assembled.

If there is a choice, you may have downloaded the wrong one or selected a laptop model which is not exactly the same as yours.

Hi
I have an Acer Aspire 5315 with Windows Vista. Around two weeks ago my computer started saying that there is no audio device installed. I went to Acer's website and downloaded the Realtek sound download for my model and operating system. When I ran it, it said "no drivers found" or "no driveres supported" (I'm sorry I can't remember which). So I deleted the file and downloaded it again and all it did was open the file and display the contents instead of running it automatically. Also, when I go to the control panel and look under sound it still tells me there is no audio device installed.

I don't know much about drivers. Honestly, I don't really know what a driver is or does. I've just been going on answers other people with "no audio device installed" questions have gotten. Can somebody please help me?

A:Problem with Audio Driver "No audio device installed"

Mel: When the file displayed its contents, did you look to see if there was a "Setup.exe" file?
If there is one, double click it and it should load the drivers.
Also, look in Device Manager for any yellow ? marks.

I have a G580 that suddenly won't start at all.  It turned off when my daughter was watching a movie.  I assumed that the battery was dead but I do not know that for sure.  She then plugged it in for the night but it never started again.  When I have it plugged in the light on the front is solid white.  There is no light at all when ONLY on battery.   It does not start when the battery is removed and plugged in.  The system is about 1 1/2 years old and to my knowledge the battery was fine.  I have not seen any charging problems from Windows.  I purchased a new AC adapter but that did not fix it.  Does this seem like a power button problem or a motherboard problem? Thanks,Chris

A:G580 Won't Start

hi chberu,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Please try removing the AC Adapter and Battery
then hold down the Power Button for at least 10 sec.
Then Reconnect only the Ac adapter and see if that will fix it, Then reconnect the battery.

Also try turning it on with the RAM and Harddrive removed and see if that will show any difference on how the unit starts.

If the same problem, even if not Battery is connected, I suggest you contact Lenovo Technical Support for Hardware Assistance or Contact a local tech to check the system board for any issue.

Hello everyone,i dont know why this happens to me. My laptop is lenovo G580 i5 4gbddr3 500gb hdd. It has following config Win10 Win7 Ubuntu14 Default os is win10. I was using windows 7 shutdown lappy and went to play. Now if i try to start it it boots up,lenovo screen appears nothing after that no boot loader screen. Hdd is detected also i removed the battery, bios reset following uefi boot disable. But no success it simply wont boot. Live linux via usb is detected and hdd is also detedcted. Any help. I need in urgent. Thankyou in advance.

A:G580 no os boots

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with lenovo. I'm afraid that you simply need to abandon Lenovo and go with another manufacturer. I have an under warranty G series laptop that lost its boot parameters. I had previously made backup copies of the OS and a 'repair' disc. Neither of which worked. I called Lenovo support and was informed that I must sned them the laptop and only THEY could reinstall the OS. I was also told that any recovery media for my product was 'UNAVAILABLE'. Sad that they cannot simply sned me media to reload it myself. Instead, they must reload it (obviously they have means to do it but simply will not share it with me). I will not ever purchase a Lenovo product and I would advise you to do the same, and advise any friends to do the same. I am doing so and have learned an expensive lesson. I paid more to get Levovo thinking their reputation was one of support, only to discover it is pointless. I should have just bought a cheaper 'non-Lenovo' product. I plan to go on a tirade and post as much information webwide as possible and deter as many as I can before they get screwed over like I did.Sorry you got screwed too,HatingLenoONO

Hello,I have a brand new G580 with 2X USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 Port. The 2.0 port works fine but the 3.0 ports don't show any reaction. The Harware manager indicates an error for the the USB 3.0 eXtensible host controller but refreshing the driver showes no effect. Any ideas if that is an Hardware- or only a driver problem? Thanks in advanceStefan

A:USB 3.0 ports G580

hi Stefan,

Welcome to the Lenovo Community.

The USB 3.0 port requires a driver for it to work (unlike the USB 2.0 that is plug and play). For Windows 7, install the Intel USB 3.0 Driver v1.0.5.235 - http://tinyurl.com/c7e7lw6

Let me know if this doesn't fix it.

Cheers

Hello!  I have a G580 (2189) with an i7-3632QM processor. I currently have 8gb of RAM and after running wmic MEMORYCHIP, I realize I have 2 slots with 4gb in each.  I'm now interested in changing them for 16 (2x8)gb and is aiming for some affordable Crucial memory. I have found a kit called: CT2KIT102464BF160B and from what I can find, this seems to fit my computer. Can anyone confirm that? It would be great.  And just out of curiosity, are there any 16gb memories available for DDR3L? Since it seems like my processor can handle 32gb but I only have two slots, I would need 16gb in each.  Thank's in advance.

A:G580 - Touchpad not working

Hi nikunjm022 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

When did it started happening ? If this would be a power management settings then a system restore to go back to a previous working date may help.

Try to reset BIOS settings by turning on the pc using the Novo key (item5 page 2) and choose BIOS settings , F9 to reset F10 to save and exit .

You can also try updating the touchpad driver from the support site.

We are not eliminating probable affectation of a grounded battery , but would it also happen with an inserted battery while plugged with the adapter?

Update us how things go.

Regards

I was having hard disk issues with my G580, so I decided to back up my files and restore it to its factory settings using OneKey. The hard disk issues must have affected OneKey because the restoration gets stuck at 49%. I need the backup.wsi so I can put it on a flash drive and restore it from there. Thanks in advance.

Hi Jakesloan15,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I?m sorry to hear that the OKR (One Key Recovery) is getting stuck at 49% while performing backup. If the computer is booting to windows the only available option to backup the OS (Operating System) installed in the computer is by creating the Recovery Media in a USB Flash drive. Below are the steps for the same:

How to Create a USB Recovery Drive and Use it to Recover Windows 8/8.1?

My Levono G580 has been working ok but tried to turn on this morning and nothing happened. I've just got home and tried again but still nothing.
I've had a look on a few sites after googling my issue but the only thing I could find is to press the power 10 times and hold it in on the last press for 30 seconds or to remove the battery and try with just the psu but nothing.
Any ideas guys?
Thanks

So I bought a new CPU for my old G580 laptop. I wanted to upgrade from the B960 it has right now (it's the 20150 model). The new CPU is a i5-3320M as it's listed as a compatible part on both the downloadable PDF and the PartsLookup website (I checked with my serial number as well). I changed the CPU, installed thermal paste, everything, but to no avail. Won't even enter BIOS. The "on" LED flashes for 10 seconds, then it shuts down. Installed the old CPU again - it boots without problems. New CPU again - no BIOS, nothing. I have updated my BIOS to the latest possible version (version 5ECN96WW (V9.01), as the newer version shows a "Error 255 - TDK Library Initialization Failed". I just don't know what to do anymore. Could be a faulty CPU, but I doubt it. The only difference is that the old CPU is Sandy Bridge, and the new is Ivy Bridge. But it's shown as "compatible" with the laptop everywhere. It's a shame really...
