Lenovo G50-45 stuck while booting

Q: Lenovo G50-45 stuck while booting

My Computer data:Lenovo G50- 45Win 8 already being installedMy problem:Hey dudes,I wanted to start my PC as always but instead of starting my GUI, windows just showed me the message that "Automatically reperation is being prepared". I used to wait but after hours the computer stayed the same. I decided to use the "onekey recovery" but instead of recovering, the computer just showed me the lenovo sign and used to load. The same procedure, I used to wait hours, but nothing changed. After that I prepared an USB device and set win 10 (64) on it and wanted to let him boot from my device. After having a lot of problems, I found a page on the internet telling me to change to "legacy" mode and to disable secure boot. Well, done that and enter with "Fn and F12" the boot menu. Selected my USB device and he is really showing me a Win 10 logo. But, and thats my problem he isnt doing anything else. He is just showing me a loading circle with a big blue Win 10 logo. I dont know what I should do next. Any Ideas around here? I've heard that a Hardware issue could be possible, isn't it? While booting, I pushed different Keys and heard one single, loud Beeping. Any ideas what I could do guys?Would be really glad to hear from you - Greetings

Hi i have a Lenovo g50 that I purchased last year. It was working perfectly fine until today. As always, I turned on my laptop and waited for it to load. I went to get something and when I came back, it was still on the booting screen and the loading circle thing was still turning. I have Windows 10 running on this laptop. I restarted my laptop and the booting  screen came up again but it said Preparing Automatic Repair. I even tried to fix my bios thing as well but it didn't help. PLEASE HELP

My g580 ran out of battery while using it, and now it gets stuck on the lenovo logo. I tried a different hard drive which changed nothing, I've tested both hard drives on a different computer and they both work. However when I boot the laptop with no harddrive it will get past the logo go to a screen saying something about an unplugged cable then reset and get stuck on a blank screen.   If I plug in my windows recovery usb drive( and no harddrive) the the machine will boot normally and go to the windows installation screen. So any ideas on why a working harddrive would stop the system from booting? Also I've tried the whole taking out the battery unplugging it holding down the power key and then plugging it back in thing, did nothing.

Okay, so my Lenovo N580 IdeaPad with i3 processor is stuck at the splash screen, aka the black screen with Lenovo written on it in bold white letters. I tried removing the battery, then putting it back on, then pressing power button for 45 secs. I also tried pressing the the Novo button (the small round and black button besides the power button) but the screen shows no change and does not go to bios/reset menu on pressing f9/f12 too. What else can I do to get my laptop back on? Please help, all my project work is on my laptop

Hi Azadkv,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I?m sorry to hear that your G500 Laptop is not booting to Windows and hanging at Lenovo Logo and the issue persists even after performing Flee-Power step. Hence, I suggest to perform BIOS reset and check if the issue persists. Below are the steps to perform BIOS reset:

To access BIOS menu turn OFF the Laptop and press the NOVO button located beside power button.
Then to reset the BIOS to its defaults click on ?F9? Key and select YES.
Now click on ?F10? Key to save the changes that are done in BIOS, the computer will automatically restart.

Do post us back if the issue persists.

The first thing I look at if a machine hangs at startup is the USB ports.  Physical damage can create shorts which cause these symptoms.  Check for bent pins or a tongue broken off.

Hello everyone, Since about five days ago, everytime I turn on my laptop, it starts normally. It goes into the black-background lenovo startup with a white loading symbol. Then, after maybe 5 rotations of the dots in the loading symbol, it freezes. It does not progress into starting up. At this point, I usually turn off my laptop by holding the power button. If I don't turn it off myself, it turns off automatically a few minutes later.  Every 2 or 3 times I turn on my computer, instead of the loading symbol, it turns into a "Preparing Automatic Repair" mode. I have seen the loading symbol for this mode but then it disappears and nothing happens and it turns off automatically after ten minutes or so. I've seen the same solution that help others with the same problem which is to take out the DVD from the laptop. I did this and my problem has not changed.  edit: g500 to g505

Hey guys, first time here and I just want to inform you that I'm not a genius so please talk like you're talking to a 9years old kid..

So my problem is as the title says.. Well it started when I opened my laptop from sleep mode then it was hanging up and then it suddenly turned blue with sad face.. I didn't read the problem clearly but i remember it saying a problem about "kernel_????_????"..

I tried to hard reset my laptop cause it was taking so much time then it ended up stuck on the logo... Now I'm the one with the blue sad face...

Hope you guys can help me as soon as possible., thanks in advance..

A:lenovo flex 15 is stuck on lenovo logo

Right, you mentioned it turned blue with a sad face, that is a Blue Screen of Death (or proper term is Kernel bugcheck) which indicates something has gone wrong.

I got stuck in the Windows 8 update loop and had to restore my computer to factory settings. When this happened to me a year ago I just updated to windows 10 and had no problems. So I got out of the windows 8 update loop by restoring to factory settings then downloading windows 10. Windows 10 installed then restarted my computer. Now my computer is stuck on the Lenovo screen with no loading circle or cursor and I cannot access BIOS.Here's a list of the things I tried:Ctrl + Alt + DelF1, F4, F8 - Repeatedly tapping and HoldingRemoving and replacing batteryTurning on with only AC cable and no batteryRemoving DVD driveTurning it on upside downRemoving AC cord and battery, holding power button for 15 seconds-30seconds - 40seconds and replacing power and turning onRemoving and replacing RAM And right now I unplugged it from AC power and I'm trying to drain the battery. If anybody has any suggestions please let me know. I'm a college student my life basically depends on my laptop. This did not happen when I upgraded to windows 10 last year and i still have the same computer.

this is a many faceted and increasing in facets issue (ill try to make it as short as possible);

backstory:
the male side of my video cable connection (the part on the motherboard) had bent pins; the pins were unbent and the cable was able to fit back in, BUT

problems:
the picture was garbled--wrong colors, moving lines, etc. the people at a tech store told me the video cable was pinched and knowing that it had been jammed in the hinge for a while, i believed it extremely feasible. I finally ordered a new video cable but replaced it, and to no avail. the picture may have been slightly better--but not significantly if so; additionally (and im not sure if it was this way the first time as well) the computer was displaying at the size of the external.

i restarted, and reazlied that the laptop screen displayed nothing at startup, until logged in--exactly like the external. i figured that at least a portion of what was going on was the computer was sending the external screen signal to the laptop.

things i've tried:

-reseating both ends of the new video cable MANY times
-turning the computer off, taking out battery, holding start button, putitng battery back in, restarting
-every variation of screen resolution/external monitor setting
-pluggin in the external, putting laptop to sleep, unpluggnig external
-reinstalling video/image drivers
function key combinations

when i tried to put in safe mode via F8, the screen went blue or light gray and stayed that w... Read more

My Lenovo Laptop recently has stopped working. It turns on and everything, it just cannot boot up.The loading screen pops up and everything, but it won't go to the login screen. When I power the laptop on, it goes on the loading screen, and stays like that for a good 5-8 minutes, then gets an error message that says"Process1_Initialization_Failed"Then it tries to go into System Recovery, but after "Loading Files" it goes into the loading screen, then transitions into a black screen. There are no options, just a black screen.I wait for an hour, and absolutely nothing happens.I made sure nothing else is plugged in except for the Charger. The laptop is a Lenovo Y51.If you need anymore information, please ask. I really need this fixed soon.

A:Lenovo Y51 not booting

Hi Braniel64 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

We are hoping that you have a recovery media to run repair if needed else using a rescue image to boot from so that you can try this process directed in this video. Similarly you may find suggested steps here .

What version of Windows do you have (Win 7 / Win 8.1/ Win10) ?
Any data that you have not backed up yet ?

As you have described for a probable windows boot process issue , factory reset would offer as last option if the above repair steps fails.

Update us how it goes .

Yesterday I used my laptop with the battery until it remains 30% and turned it off, then I plugged my phone in USB Port (Always On USB). And after that, I can't turn on my laptop even battery is still remain, even I charged it. I can only turn on it if I plugged it and if I unplug it, it'll die like no battery inside. When I see the battery gauge, it always says that 71% remain even I turned of conservation mode (and uninstalled Energy Manger).I had performed Hard Reset, reinstalled Energy Manger (But can't install, it said that ACPI installation denied or something like that)What can I do?

I am having the same issues as defined in this other post. However, the Conservation Mode has been disabled this entire time. I tried toggling it, but it didn't help. Any ideas? As a side note: this seems to trigger whenever the computer is unplugged and stays until the computer is rebooted. Other Topic: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-P-Y-and-Z-series/Hey-question-about-my-new-IdeaPad-z50-75-AMD-fx...

Hidy ho all,

I have a Lenovo G505s I bought in august. Up to this point, its been a great machine. This morning (11/20/2014) I installed some updates from windows update. around 4:30 PM today, I rebooted the machine, because I had an hour break in between classes. During that reboot it tried to install those updates, and it said it failed. After the failure it said it was reverting back to the prior state before the updates were installed.

It then rebooted again. It got to the Lenovo splash screen, and some little white text on the bottom of the screen has said for the past half hour "Updating your system (5%)" with the windows 8 little circle thing spinning around just above it.

I did try restarting it by holding down the power button, but it came right back to this screen.

Google has turned up nothing yet. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, have they (you) been able to fix it?

A:Lenovo G505s not booting

I think the quickest way around this issue is to let the OS try to install the updates it might take a while to do so(which is a pain) but I would wait because you don't want to mess up your system you might loose more than the time you will wait

So, I have a Lenovo Thinkpad Z61T 9660CTO which I bought in 2007. It has served me well. Yesterday, it was working perfectly, albeit with some exxtra high heating at the bottom, close to 60-70 degrees Celcius. Then , I wanted to put in a new SSD into it. So, I took out the old HDD and then connected it, and the other SSD via USB casing to another computer running a disk cloning software. Tried it did not work. Now, I put back the old HDD into the Thinkpad, it does not start up again at all. Even the first screen which says "Thinkpad" press Blue button for recovery" does not come up now. Hard drive is not it, since the screen does not switch on at ALL. If it was HDD failure, it would say something like HDD not detected. But in this case, it does not even show the initial Thinkpad screen. So, this may be a loose connection somewhere (even though I did not remove the casing at all while removing the HDD) Both times, I removed and reattached the HDD, with the power cable removed from the Thinkpad, but, the battery was still inside the chassis. Short circuit? Bad! Someone help.

A:Lenovo Z61T not booting

In case its not clear, when I press the power button, I do not arrive at the press Del to enter BIOS screen at all. No THINKPAD screen. Just black screen and no HDD activity

The only thing i have done lately was update my g15 keyboard software and install GTA san andreas. Im pretty lost at this point as to what the problem might be. I also noticed it seems like the initial device check in my bios is taking a bit longer to detect the HDD's but it may just be my imagination. Any ideas or help on this is greatly appreciated.

Hi, one week ago i got slammed by a very nasty virus (Antivirus Soft) and took such a hit i just decided to reinstall my Win XP. When i reinstalled I had two windows directories (i didn't format) "c:\windows" and "c:\windows.0". After reinstalling some drivers on my fresh OS I rebooted, and it rebooted back to my old OS. "c:\Windows.0" being the active windows again. (I know because i can't rename it, move it, etc). So i was curious how do i change c:\windows back to the active OS again?

Sorry if this is confusing, i just want to make it so when i boot up my computer "c:\windows" is what boots and not the "c:\windows.0". I tried just renaming it but i cant because "c:\windows.0" is running.

Thank you very much.

A:Stuck booting to old OS..

How many partitions do you have? Is it a dual boot now?

Copy, paste and post the contents of your boot.ini file or files if there' 2 now. You might need to uncheck "hide hidden files and folders" under folder options.

EDIT NOTE : This post was move to the top of the page to assist Lenovo with an escalation. For all future post and comments, please continue posting in this thread. i have this issue too, but when i changed the option "intel virtual technology" to enabled in the bios configuration section, my laptop started at 3.2 ghz on battery, then i changed the power option from "high performance" to "power saving" mode, it was redused to 0.77, then i changed back to performance mode,it speeded up till max. it seamed problem was solved.  i am not sure what intel virtual technology is doing or related to this issue, but it's worked for me. i hope this helps. meh, after 3 restarts it's stuck at 0.77 again, i think we definetly need a bios update. Edit- After a quick search, i ve found that "intel virtual technology" doesn't related to this issue, and it' NOT THE SOLUTION.  problem still exists. Also, just fyi, some other brands of devices faced this issue over the inernet and all solved by bios update or board replacement.    EDIT NOTE : This post was move to the top of the page to assist Lenovo with an escalation. A:Re: Lenovo Z510 CPU stuck at 0.77GHz

Hi! The CPU (i3-4000M) in my Z510 sometimes stuck at 0.77GHz. It doesn't matter if I set the performance to maximum in Windows and in Lenovo Energy Manager. It usually happens when the notebook is unplugged from AC but sometimes it happens on AC too. And also it doesn't matter if the computer is cold booted, restarted or waked up from sleep\hibernation. I have read about a lot of similar cases (just google on "stuck 0.77GHz").I'm using Windows 8.1 x64, the drivers ar up-to-date and all of the updates are installed. We are talking about a wold-wide problem since it is exists in other notebooks too. (e.g.: Asus) Is there any (un)known problem with the new Haswell processors\chipsets?What is the solution?

Hi Levance,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that your G500 Laptop is hanging at Lenovo Logo after downgrading the OS (Operating System) in the computer. I suggest you to perform the Flee-Power and then try to access BIOS. Below are the steps to perform the same:

Remove the battery and any other peripheral device connected to the computer.
Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and then connect only the AC Adapter and try to turn ON the computer.

Do post us back if the issue still persists.

Ive looked endlessly for a solution. Obviously many other people have this issue. What I have done so far is delete energy manager because its been defective for many people. After doing that, my battery indicator finally filled up to 100% in the animation. Prior, it had been stuck at 60% with charger plugged in and once taking the charger out, computer would shut off in 30 min. Past 6 months I have been using the compyter with the charger in because my warranty expired the day before problems rose.  Ive also tried uninstalling some ACPI thing under device manager > Battery because i read it somehwere.  I just want to know when my battery is gonna die. I can never work on important documents without a charger. So frustrating..

Hi. My girfriend got herself Y700-17. I installed Win 7 64bit on this laptop and it's working almost ok. The only problem is that the cpu (i5-6300hq) frequency is stuck at 2.2 ghz (cpuz shows it varies between 2193, 2194 and 2195 ghz). It will never go down or up to 3.2ghz like it should (or even 2.3, it's nominal frequency). It's frustrating because it makes the system fans run audibly loud even when not necessary, and the cpu is not reaching it's full potential. I read other similar  topic and saw that everything was normal under windows 10 so I'm gonna install it and try, but I'd really like to avoid having to use that system. Does all the skylakes behave like this under windows 7?

Try and boot with charger plugged in. If this works try installing the latest updates you may have restart and install more than once so be patient. If this doesn't work check with your device maker.

The S-ATA hard disk must be placed in “compatibility mode” using a BIOS function before
SuSE can be installed or used.

I turned my Lenovo laptop on Friday to see the usual splash Lenovo on start up and then nothing else happened it kept continually doing that and going no further. Just so you know my laptop has no warranty left as I got it last Christmas second hand. I have been looking at demonstration videos on you tube and what I have tried so far is. I plugged in an external usb keyboard and got into bios and checked it was detecting my hard drive and it was. The next step I did was disconnect internal power/ battery and did the hold of the power button for 30 seconds to 1 minute  with the power cord connected only. And it was still doing the same. I then got advised to remove the cmos battery turn on laptop and then back off and put the battery back in. This has also failed to work so now I am looking for help here as I don't know what to do next and am hoping someone here has a different suggestion for me to try and hopefully get my laptop back up and running. Thank you in advance for any help given.

Hi there, well, first off I'll tell you what I was doing before this started happening, a few minutes ago I was playing World of Warcraft, alt tabbed out, went to start, tryed to open control pannel, then firefox, at this time the computer froze, I had to plug pull to get out.

I then try to restart my computer, the windows screen comes up, gives me the option to view boot menu, that loads, then moves on to the next screen which is black, looks like command prompt, but all that has come up on the black screen is a "J" in the upper left hand corner.

Please help, if anyone knows how to... thanks...

Also, before I froze, I checked on my task manager and my computer had made around 15 copies of one certain .exe files, I'm not sure which, It was something along the lines of Dwcault.exe or something, I'm not sure.

Thanks again

Hi,

I am facing issues with my desktop of not booting up. It remains stuck at Windows XP boot up screen. The day before I had shut down the PC normally. What I have tried;

1) Have tried booting up in the Safe Mode & Last Known Good Configuration as well but no luck. On selecting Safe Mode, it loads some of the files up till WINDOWS/System32/Drivers/aswRvrt.sys & then again shows up the same message again giving options of Safe Mode/ Last Known Good Configuration & Start Windows Normally.

2) Removed both the RAM modules one by one & boot up, but still the same error.

3) Checked the cables to HDD & Optical Drive.

4) Rebooted with least the hardware & no network.

Pls assist resolving the issue.

Hi, on my laptop the control key is ALWAYS pressed. I can't fix it no matter what. I tried prying off the key with a screwdriver & making sure nothing was jammed in there, there's nothing wrong with the key itself, it looks great on the inside.

Now here's the kicker:

The CTRL key is ALWAYS on, however, if I open the on screen keyboard program, it fixes the problem. Which makes me think it's a windows issue rather than an actual physical keyboard issue.

I'm at the point now where I'm just going to re install windows if I can't fix it

if that doesn't work I'll take it to a repair shop (So expensive..yikes)

So, any suggestions guys?

Any help is extremely appreciated.

P.S - It does this EVEN if an external keyboard is connected.

A:Lenovo v570 laptop - CTRL key always stuck down

The on-screen keyboard would be expected to perform correctly because it's a virtual keyboard in Windows and not mechanical. Despite your hesitation I can't imaging this being a Windows issue. However the problem replicating on an external keyboard is vexing. Is it USB or PS3?

When did you first notice this? How does it manifest itself? A Cntrl command is executed when you type a letter?

Stick around as someone will likely recognize the issue or have an idea that helps.

My lenonvo (thinkpad) t410 is stuck in startup. I was checking email and I noticed that my screen was freezing up a bit when an error message box came on screen (unfortunately I did not take note of what it said) and my computer began to shut down by itself. I hit the power button to make sure it wouldnt restart and gave it 20 minutes before i went to turn it back on. Now when i try to turn it on, it shows the lenovo splash screen but then goes black and shows the splash screen again, never proceeding to windows. I have spent most of the say looking up possible solutions, but while many people have had similar problems, most other posts involve system recovery options, which do not appear on my screen. It is allowing me to boot into BIOS but I have not been able to find a solution there. Do I need to reinstall Windows? Please help.

Just started happening this week.   It's stuck at the boot screen "lenovo".   I tried many different methods like removing battery, holding power button to reset, etc.  The *only* way to get it to boot is the remove memory card, and put it back.  Then it will boot up fine.     It might then boot fine for the rest of the day.  But then the next day (or after being shutdown for a while), it happens again so i have to remove memory card, put it back, etc.  What could be the problem here ?  I tried both memory slots.  So i don't think it's particular to one slot.

Hi
I am having startup problem with my Lenovo G500.
I closed the lid after using the laptop with power cable connected. After 3 or 4 hours I just picked up the laptop and put it in the bag for traveling. After 12 hours when I took it out it was too hot.
I tried to switch it on but it stuck on Lenovo startup screen. Then I removed HDD and started again, It showed error of no bootable device. Then I connected HDD and started it worked fine for few days.
Now again same problem of startup screen.
I've done power flee procedure as well but of no use now.

Can anybody please guide me what's the suspected problem in the laptop?

hi nasirraza2009,

Welcome to the Forums.

When the machine gets stucked on the lenovo logo, can you boot into the BIOS (by pressing F2 or Fn+F2) and check if the HDD is detected
   - Link to picture

In addition, If the machine boots again into Windows again, to un a diagnostic on the HDD to verify its health.

  - Lenovo Storage Test or
  - HD Tune.

If you're unable to run a diagnostic on the drive then I recommend you contact lenovo and report the problem as there's likely an issue on the HDD / HDD's connection to the motherboard (or other internal component).

The Fn Keys won't work and brightness has disappeared from all Windows menus. I read that so many people are experiencing the same problem. I have tried every possible thing: all possible driver changes, driver updates, driver roll-backs, switching to Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, Generic PnP Monitor updating. I need to find a way to change the brightness. It is stuck at 100%, I can't even look at my screen.

Hi! Recently my laptop has been having an issue that i cant seem to find a solution to. The popup volume display on my lenovo y40-70 that should only pop up when manually changing the volume, is stuck on screen, and constantly increasing my volume to 100. I try clicking on it to 0 and it keeps going back to 100 at a rapid rate. I've tried rebooting, restarting, and pressing the function keys to get it to go away with no luck. I've looked into the volume key bindings and none of them have been activated or stuck into the "on" position. as i am using an external keyboard and mouse, i thought it could have something to do with it, but my external keyboard and mouse have no options to manually change volume. I have taken the cover off the bottom of the laptop carefully to clean it after this issue arose, and to see if any connections have been compromised and everything seems to be in order. The only thing i can think of would be the battery, as it is constantly plugged in and rarely ever runs on battery power. The battery has been needing replacing for a year now, so i do not suspect that could be the problem. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated please, for some reason it is killing performance of the laptop with the continuous refresh

However the last of these reboots came after I downloaded and installed the BIOS update from this page.  http://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/downloads/DS100825  I clicked on the BIOS update exe 9.3mb and clicked on download now and then installed it which it seemed to do very quickly and successfully.  Does anyone have any idea what else I could do, this is starting to get worrying and frustrating.  Thanks

Symptoms are when I boot, it sometimes goes to windows but takes a long time and just doesn't get to the desktop, it is hanging after the logon screen. In safe mode it goes to desktop in normal time and laptop functions as normal, any ideas why it works as normal only in safe mode but can't reach the desktop in normal mode please?.

Some program or startup is causing the slowdown. You can do a clean boot and from there add services until you find the one causing the problem. It would be a good idea to disable your startup items also.

Then I tried to install my old Graphics card (The Radeon HIS HD 7950 Graphics card). All i got was a blank screen, no beeps, no BIOS... Nothing. At first, i thought my power supply wasn't enough... So i tested a 750W power supply in the pc. Still nothing. Then I thought the motherboards BIOS was outdated... Updated it... Still nothing. I even tried updating the firmware of the graphics card. Nothing. The graphics card definitely works because I tested it in my old machine and it worked 100%.However, I took my graphics card to my supplier, and he tested it on another one of his PCs... Didn't work there either. My PC's BIOS doesn't have support for secure boot, in case anyone wants to know.I have run out of ideas now... Any one able to help?

A:Lenovo M91p Desktop not booting with new graphics ...

There's a white list of graphics cards the BIOS will recognize. The HD 7950 is a 180w card, well in excess of what the factory power supply can provide for (and the case/fans sufficient cooling for), and is not one that Lenovo would provide BIOS support for.

Use the search engine above to see what cards other owners have successfully used in their M91p.

Good morning everybody,

I have bought my laptop 1 year ago and everything was going ok, i installed many programs (Adobe illustrator) and games (PES2011) and many others and i faced no problems.
One day, my cousin used the laptop to watch a new movie but he forgot to charge the battery during that time until the laptop shuts down alone due to empty battery.
On the next day, i tried to power on my laptop it starts normally until it reached the Windows 7 logo it automatically shuts down. I tried again for several times with the same result then a blue screen with white writings on it was displayed on the screen (harddisk failure).
I bought a new Toshiba 500GB HDD and burned a new Windows 7 Ultimate x64 DVD to install a fresh new copy of it but i have faced the following:
1- when I power on the laptop it works normally.
2- I press F12 to choose the device to boot from (Boot from DVD)
3- It starts normally and a windows 7 screen appears with a loading bar. It is filled quickly in the first time then a new screen appears with a loading bar starts to fill but after around 75% of the loading bar is filled the laptop shuts down.
I tried to restart it for several times with the same result.

I make the following points to try to restart the laptop but always with the same result:
1- Remove the new HDD and then insert it
2- Remove the Rams and then insert them
3- Remove the battery and then insert it.

Connect power and push power button. Then you can connect the battery. Solution 2 (The one that helped me)Removed the power cable, the battery and the internal battery of CMOS and let it disconnected all for 15 hours. A:Booting up from the optical drive on a Lenovo H430

Hi, On the Lenovo H505s you have to change a few options in the BIOS to install Windows 7 which requires booting from the optical drive. It's probably the same in the H430 Restart the computer at the white Lenovo (BIOS) screen, hit F1 to enter the BIOSGo to Security tabGo to Secure BootDisable Secure BootReset to setup modehit Yes to "Do you really wish to reset platform to setup mode?" Change the boot options to look for USB devices if you are installing from a flash drive, or make the DVD drive the first boot device. (Select SATA dev 1 not the DVD drive or whatever it's called and hit the - key) Go to the EXIT tabDisable OS Optimized DefaultsSave and Exit. That's now I did it on the H505s, not to sure what impact that has on the OEM installation of Win 8, probably destroys it, so be aware you might not be able to go back after. -Cheers

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that your Lenovo ThinkPad T430 is not powering on.
Check if it's something to do with your AC adapter or battery. Insufficient power might cause some of those issues as well. Take the battery out and try to power on your laptop with the charger only. Make sure your laptop power jack and charger plug tip are securely connected. Try starting the laptop using good known AC adapter and battery.

Try connecting the device to an external monitor and check if it displays properly.

Please do let me know the happenings!

Best regards,
Mithun.

Anyway, my friend's laptop will not boot correctly. When I turn it on, I get the Windows Error Recovery screen, with the choices:

Launch Startup Repair (recommended)
Start Windows Normally

When I select 'Start Windows Normally', the boot up starts as normal. That is to say, the small loading bar appears. However, once it's loaded, the screen flashes blue for a split second. I've tried on several occasions to read what it says, but it does it too fast it's just not possible. However, it does resemble the blue screen of death. I can't be sure though

After the blue screen flashes up, the screen goes blank again before returning to the Windows Error Recovery Screen.

Obviously, the only remaining option is to 'Launch Startup Repair'. After selecting that, it loads normally again to the point where a GUI finally appears. I then get an error box entitled 'System Recovery Options'. The message in the box reads:

The installed program cannot start, click OK to turn off the computer

If it would help, I could film the problem on the webcam from my laptop. The quality wouldn't be great, but if you think it would help you to help me, just say the word and I'll film it

Hi

(so sorry for my bad english, Im a german guy)
So my Problem is, hmm not quite easy to describe so let me try,

that i dont really have one, i can play my computer games with good to high settings and parallel hear good music(<- casual).

But sometime my computer stucks, there is no blue screen nothing just stuck, so i have to push the restart button.

So now the really interesting thing starts,

all goes normal until the loading screen of Windows 7, you know that image that pops up in the middle, so while each of these, i called it flags, which fly together to build up the windows logo, my computer gets stucked. And i have to restart.

And everytime i restart its getting stucked at the same point.

But now the Happy End

if i turn it off for about half an hour with the power supply off, it starts like the first day.
Any ideas?

Hi Eftroy,

Welcome to the Lenovo community!

Wait for the machine to boot into the 'Automatic repair couldn't repair your PC' error message.
Click the 'Advanced Options' button
Open cmd and type:
bootrec /fixMBR
bootrec /Fixboot
bootrec /rebuildBCD
And also
chkdsk /r c:
chkdsk /r d:

Or else

Turn on the computer.
Wait for the machine to boot into the 'Automatic repair couldn't repair your PC' error message.
Click the 'Advanced Options' button
Click the 'Troubleshoot' button
Click the 'Advanced options' button
 Click the 'Startup Settings' button
Wait for the system to reboot into the 'Startup Settings' menu (is the same menu for safe mode)
Select the 'Disable early launch anti-malware protection' option. (Press '8')
If this worked for you, you should now boot into windows.
Now you can shut down your system and it should hopefully work first time the next time you start the system

Let us know how you get on.

Regards,
Shashi

Hi to all!I have a huge problem:My laptop started to freeze and not starting apps so I rebooted it (by pressing and keeping down the power button).Next time it started, when showing the Lenovo logo and the loading spinner it took a lot more than usual, next it showed "Diagnosing your PC" and after a while the screen showed "Repairing disk errors. This might take over an hour to complete"... and it's been like 12hours now. Panicking for my files the first thing I did was to download Ubuntu and create an USB bootable image to backup my files, this went OK.Then, to try to make my laptop to start I've tried, so far: 1) Power the laptop off and press the Novo button which lead me to the Novo Menu and when I choose 'System Recovery' I get a "Onekey recovery partition has damaged so do not lauch the main application" and I get send back to the "repairing disk errors..." screen. 2) Download , from Microsoft, installation media, made a bootable USB to get to the Troubleshoot options which are- Repair start: when I choose this, nothing happends either, same repairing disk errors screen again- Try to recover to a previous state: nothing happens even thou I have available recovery points, the computer freezes and nothins happens.(In case i'm not making myself clear, I took these 2 Microsoft solutions from this post:http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-update/windows-10-stuck-on-repairing-dis... ) Any other ideas? I'm desperate. Thanks!

Hello, my Lenovo laptop running on Windows 8.1 has been stuck on "Repairing disk errors. This might take over an hour to complete." I've never had any problems with it in the 3 years of using it. I turned it off normally, then in the morning it was started up, went normally through the password part, then it was supposedly loading too long, so my mom shut it down and restarted it and then the program asked to do a system restore to a previous point in time and now it has been stuck on "Repairing disk errors.." for over 16 hours now. There is only the power light on and the fan is working, as well as the keyboard, but the screen only shows the Lenovo logo and the "Repairing disk errors." text. Should I wait and leave it alone, or what should I do? Can I turn it off or will I damage it?

I just purchased IdeaCentre K450 from Bestbuy. In addition I also purchased 2 Seagate 3TB Backup Plus USB drives. All three USB drives were plugged in to the K450.When the Windows Updates automatically rebooted the PC, it got stuck on the Lenovo BIOS logo.It will not bypass it until I remove or power down all the USB drives that attached to it. I did check the BIOS and make sure that it's not trying to boot from USB. I made the Local Hard Disk as the number 1 priority when booting. I don't know what is going on. I think Lenovo will have to update the BIOS. SInce it's a newer product, my guess is I will have to wait for a little bit. I called the support line and they have no clue what is going on. They only advise is to post it in the forum and see if anyone else has the same issue. *no comment* I guess this is a weird one because when I tested by plugging in an "EMPTY" 4GB USB jump drive, it will boot just fine.I'm not sure if it's because the Seagate Backup Plus was a 3TB drives or it has "certain" content inside the jump drive. If any fellow K450 users has the same issue, please post it here so the Lenovo "engineer" be able to see that there's an issue out there. Thank you.

Hi iamxcpx, welcome to the forums,

what you have experienced is not uncommon with any type of computer from notebook through to server, regardless of the boot disc being set as item 1 in the list, sometimes they just want to search everything available for boot instructions; depending on the quantity of information on the external discs it can sometimes take a little while.

I would suggest totally excluding the drives, or better all usb devices, from the boot order.  The following picture is of another systems BIOS, but hopefully illustrates what I mean.

My Yoga was powered on, I was logged in, and the screen was locked. I left my office for a minute and when I returned, it was at the "Lenovo" boot screen (white text on black background). I don't know if it auto-updated or something, but now I can't get it to do anything. I've tried various combinations of holding down the power button and hitting the "Novo" key, but the only two things I can make it do is power completely off or show me this screen. It won't get far enough in the boot process to allow me to boot to my recovery USB. I've had it less than two weeks.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi,I'm trying to boot and install windows 7 on my lenovo touchpad running windows 8 at the moment. I'm booting from an external dvd drive because the thinkpad doesn't have an internal drive. It will start the boot process and load the windows files, then throw an "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and thne you can restart (0% complete) PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA (WimFsf.sys)" error.I've tried booting from a USB drive as well and get the same results. I need to load windows 7 on 5 machines and only one has worked fine. I'm assuming it's a memory issue, but I haven't seen this error before when booting. Any tips?message edited by robkule422

A:PAGE FAULT when booting windows 7 (Lenovo laptop)

If you're getting that above error message, that's a blue screen error, which means you're booting to Windows and not to the DVD drive. What do you have selected as the boot order?

Hi everyone, I've had a Lenovo Y510P with SLI 750m's for about 1 year and 3 months now. 2 weeks ago (around the time I upgraded to Windows 10). My laptop suddenly is unable to boot for the most part. When I press power, it hangs on the initial blank screen, with no logo pop-up. I have managed to get it to boot before, just simply by restarting over and over, but it's been 3 days and no luck now. It simply stays on a blank screen (no backlight), though the keyboard and power button light up. Here are the steps I've taken to troubleshoot:-> Removed battery, unplugged AC, performed "fleeting power removal" by holding the power button for 60 secs (have done this multiple times)-> Removed RAM, changed slots etc. When there is no RAM, the machine will continuously reboot-> Removed HDD, reseated-> Removed 2nd GPU. When the 2nd GPU is plugged in, the fan will try and spin every so often-> Unplugged connectors to wi-fi module-> Restarted many times-> Pressed the NOVO button, it simply brings it to the blank screen Any advice would be much appreciated. The laptop itself is in good condition, and has little physical ware. Unfortunately it's no longer under warranty, and I'm sure the cost of sending it in is quite high.

Lenovo z500. Windows 10. When I turn on screen is black. Nothing showing. No cursor or flickering. Can hear computer Tring to boot and keyboard lights come on. Have tried pressing all function keys to no avail. I'm away for a conference and have no tools to open up and remove battery. This happened yesterday but then when I randomly moved screen it came on, but problem reoccurring when I tried to boot up again. No amount of screen moving helping this time.  Has never happened before.  I had to put it through air port scanners yesterday during travel. Has never affected laptop before but I did read somewhere about a magnetic field perhaps affecting it but not sure what that means. Any help greatly appreciated as without it my presentation at this conference is screwed! Thanks! And I tried using refresh and reset windows. But it got stuck on the please wait screen. I tried using restore from a previous backup, but it freezed after I clicked something. I also tried chkdsk /r /x /f, but it also didnt work. I tried everything but it did not work either. I have a windows 8.1 serial key, but I dont have enough storage cd or a usb for that. This is quite serious, so please help me. I will be quite thankful. Thanks!

When I tried to boot Windows 7 yesterday, I got a prompt saying that a disk check had been scheduled. I initially thought this got stuck because it seemed to freeze on 10% and the numbers alongside that figure didn't go up. I rebooted my computer and let it start again, after a few hours(!) the disk check finished and started on another of my drives. Again, I let this complete and it eventually rebooted itself. Upon rebooting it however, it did the exact same thing and appears to be in a loop just doing the disk check over and over.

I Googled this and opened the command prompt and checked all my drives (it disk checked f and c) but none are marked as dirty. I ran the command to stop the disk check on all drives anyway but still the problem persists.

Right at the start it says I can cancel the check by pressing any key on the keyboard but for some reason, it doesn't work - not sure if it's not recognising the keyboard or not.

I've also tried to boot into safe mode to see if that bypasses it but that hangs at classpnp.sys so that's a no go right now as well. I tried renaming the file to classpnp.old as a forum suggested but it blue screens and restarts if I do that. I'm currently trying a linux boot cd to replace to file to see if that works.

Any help with any of these issues would be great.

A:CHKDSK - Windows stuck in loop when booting

Do you know what it says on the BSOD? Pressing F8 while booting will enable you to Disable automatic restart when the computer crashes so you will be able to read it.

Try copying the .dmp file from you computer through Linux (C:\Windows\Minidump\) and put it on another computer in the same directory. Then run the tool here and follow the instructions to upload the files created.

Also run chkdsk /r

Hope this helps as I am currently dealing with the same issue on another computer!

My computer froze up on me yesterday so I restarted it. When my computer came back on it wouldn't load pass the black screen that has the horizontal little white blinking line at the far left corner at the top of the screen. This screen usually is up for no more than 5 seconds but now it's stuck there. I can't access my desktop with all of my files and icons in them. I tried holding down the F8 key to start the computer in safe mode but it wouldn't work =(. I had no idea what I could do to make it boot up correctly.

So here's the story:
I have a small HP laptop which runs Vista (because there are no drivers for XP for it)
It has a nifty little biometric reader for authentication.
I use it.
Consequently... I forgot my password. I'm a moron.

My friend needed to use the PC, so I told him what I thought was the password, only to discover I was wrong. I opened up msconfig, set it to boot into safe mode, and restarted, intending to use the Administrator account to reset my password.
I didn't realize that the Administrator account is disabled in Vista.
So now, I can't log in because safe mode doesn't support biometric authentication, and I don't know my password.
Even worse, I can't get back to normal mode (even if I tell it to start Windows normally).
Help? Of any sort? Anyone?

Thanks,
--Matt

A:[SOLVED] Stuck booting into Safe Mode

No, no morons anywhere - forgetting a password is like forgetting your bank card pin number - it happens.

Although the Admin account is hidden in Vista - sort of like the account named "Administrator" in XP - but it should absolutely show up under SAFEMODE.

Was it there?
