I have to unplug and plug it back in several times before I can get the buttons to work. It takes even longer for the pen to work, and when it does it's only detected when I push down full strength. It's seldom detected when lightly pressing or hovering above the tablet screen, like it should and used to. I don't know what's wrong with this damn tablet, it used to work PERFECTLY. Then one day it stopped, and I've been having problems since. The last time I could draw something was about a month ago, and I even had (less severe) issues w it back then. This is just so frustrating.

Here is my tablet

I have the latest (v9.0, July 2014) drivers installed from the description of this specific tablet.

I am not terrible w technology, especially when I have instructions. Usually I can figure out problems myself. I guess I'm better at messing w mobile devices...
EDIT: When the pen does work and pressure sensitivity is detected, it doesn't lasy long. Whenever I try to draw in Paint Tool SAI it's verry jittery and lags quite a bit before stopping altogether.

Hi! I tried searching to see if this was already covered and didn't find anything, but maybe it is and I didn't see it. So my Y70 touch screen isn't working, which I enjoy using cause this thing is huge and it's faster with some things. Tablet mode is on, I have Windows 10, it was working a week or so ago. I've finally had time to investigate today. What would cause this to happen? Could updates have installed and done something strange? Thank you!

A:Tablet mode not working with windows 10

@Enginestechie?, Thanks for posting back.  I understand the frustration.  However the notebook was designed with an operating system in mind and when you upgrade to another OS there are always bumps in the road and this has been the case for ever.  Keep an eye on the hp support site for updates and releases for Windows 10. Thanks again for the post and have a great day.

Got an inspiron 13 7000 yesterday and trying to use for first time.  When switching to tablet mode, the virtural/on-screen keyboard cannot be selected for use.  It is available in laptop mode (when I don't need it because of the large keyboard in front of me), but not table.

So, I called tech support and was told it was outside of regular tech and they'd transfer me to software tech.  They said there is normally a fee for this support, but since the computer is brand new, there would be not charge.  Software tech refused to help me unless I paid and they transferred me back to hardware tech who put me on hold, then hung up on me.

Wow, nice support on a brand new product!  They want me to pay to get their defective product to work?  I guess it would be cheaper for them to pay for a return shipping label, give me a full refund and sell this as a refurb at half of what they sold it to me for then for them to actually spend a few minutes on the phone trying to help.

Before I return this and buy another brand, does anyone know how to get the on-screen keyboard to work on tablet mode?

Also tried clean install of Windows 10 Home and upgrade from Windows 8.1 but non of them worked.
Normally the capture device, or or just "pulling smoothly."
In neither case automatically switching to tablet mode does not work, although It has been set.

HiI bought this for my daughter this Christmas and after registering using the keyboard it suddenly stopped working and I could only use the touch screen keyboard. Then for no reason at all the pc display went in to tablet mode and won't come out of it.I have tried a total reset and everything I described above happens again. I have downloaded all the drivers etc again and rebooted and the outcome is still the same. Have wondered if throwing it against a wall would help, but realised that would only help me and not the laptop.Has anyone had this problem and if so how did you resolve it?Thanks

What could be wrong, when I put this computer to sleeping-mode, and then it may shut off the screen and hard-disks, but it remain the fans on. And sometimes, it reboots itself after being in "sleeping"-mode for a while. Could it be about AMD's Cool&Quiet-feature or something? It has worked like few times, but usually it does the tricks like that. I dont have the foggiest idea what's wrong with this... I have got Asrock DualSata2-motherboard and AMD Athlon 64 3700+, if that helps for the solution?

Btw, another lil question... I do have got that AMD 3700+, but... tell me, I checked out its codename, and it was Egypt... but is it still San Diego? Cause, I thought, there is only San Diego-named AMD Athlon 64 3700+ processors? Or am I wrong? And when I ordered it, there was no mention about it's core-name and its cache? Or have I mixed up the codename and corename? lol

Hi, I wasn't sure where to post this issue, so I'm just posting it here, feel free to move it if need be.

I have a custom built PC that I myself built. I've had it for 2-3 years now. From the time it was built until a few months ago sleep mode worked perfect. When I went to the start menu and clicked the little power button the computer would enter sleep and whenever I wanted to resume my work I would hit the mouse button or the spacebar and it would boot right back up where I left off.

Recently, however, that has changed. Now when I click the power button the computer seems to enter sleep mode but takes about a minute longer to do so. It will also not allow me to power back on with the mouse or keyboard, I have to use the power button. Then once I push the power button, the fans and lights power on but the display, which is HDMI, doesn't seem to be recieving either a signal, power or both. The same goes for any USB ports, as the mouse and keyboard do not light up or respond. I have to hit the physical reset button to get the computer to boot up correctly. When that is done I lose anything that was open or wasn't saved when I powered down.

I have gone into Control Panel>Power Options>High Performance: Change Plan Settings and everything seems correct to me. The display is set to never turn off and the computer is set to never sleep since those are based on time I would rather do it manually.

Hi,
I bought a brand new dell vostro v131 computer one month ago.
I received it with Ubuntu, but I installed my own Windows 7 Ultimate.
Since the time I bought and until now (after hours on the phone with Dell support) - my internet has been working terribly slow (0.1 MB per second on speed tests) . This happens on any and every internet connection (Home, university etc..).

On safe mode it works perfectly.

What is the problem? I read some other threads but none helped me.
I don't have an Anti-virus.
Because the comp didn't come with Windows I downloaded the dell drivers myself (directly from the Dell website) .

Anyhow I don't know what logs and stuff I need to post so I'll wait for a reply to tell me what I need to do I'm a comp science student but I don't know much about computers
Help! I can't live in Safe Mode.. I'm not that kind of guy

I am extremely frustrated with the issue my computer has developed ever since I upgraded to Windows 10. I have a Dell Inspiron 7537 and any time I try to close my laptop lid, thus activating the sleep mode, the monitor turns off but the computer does not fully go into sleep mode. I can still hear the fan running and my light-up keyboard remains lit. In addition, if leave it with the lid closed for a long time, upon attempting to wake the computer, I find that it is overheating and won't wake up. I have to hold down the power button and force shutdown. Because of this issue I resorted to powering down the laptop, however, I experienced similar problems. When I click the Windows key and elect the Power - Shut down feature, I get the same problems as described above.
I have tried everything to resolve this issue. I have updated all my drivers, including video, bios, chipset, etc. I have uninstalled Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver. I have tried changing all the power options to high performance, then balanced performance, etc. I have contacted Dell support who have run all sorts of scans but no resolution. I have contacted Microsoft Answer Desk several times and they have been completely useless. Very quickly you can determine that they don't know what they are doing. One agent suggested that I simply create a new account. When that didn't fix the issue she disconnected the remote connection.
Can someone please help? Any suggestions? Even if it's to tell me ... Read more

I had the exact same issue I know how frustrating it can be. Initially I removed my video/graphics driver and installed the driver compatible for Windows 8.1- 64 bit (from dell driver download page). It resolved the issue. Few days ago I installed the updated driver for windows 10 64bit, posted in the dell driver page. Still it is okay and sleep/hibernation is working properly, I think it should also work for you. Please let me know if it works and if you need further assistance.

Hey all. I'm new here but, I've had this problem for weeks now and I've decided enough is enough.

1. About several weeks ago, seemingly out of nowhere, my internet connection started behaving incorrectly. It was occasionally having small pockets where it'd drop out. A ping test to websites such as google would give both "Reply from" and "Reply failed."

2. Internet using applications such as MSN and AIM were unaffected but a game I was playing would drop out whenever this occurred, and internet pages would either partially load or time out.

3. This error gradually became worse and worse, the time outs more frequent, to the point where MSN and AIM were only barely working. I contact my ISP and the connection was fine, the modem is fine, etc.

4. Also - another thing that occurs while my desktop PC had errors - all other machines connected to the network experience similiar errors, the dropping out of the connection. It is only when my PC is switched off or the cable removed ; that they would perform normally again.

5. Every now and then the connection would suddenly return to it's normal state. In a state where it was not performing ANY internet functions (no applications, constant ping time out) I took it to a technician. They plugged it into their modem, it worked fine for an hour, so they let me take it home. It worked perfectly for about a day, until I woke up the next morning to discover the same errors starting again.

Hey everyone.

I'm having some pretty annoying issues in regards to my USB devices. This applies to all of them; 2.0 and 3.0 on the front of the case and the I/O of the rear of the motherboard. This is what happens:

If I have things plugged in (say, my Behringer Audio Interface, a flash drive, and my USB Linksys Wi-fi adapter) during boot, they work so long as they are not removed and plugged back in. That's where the issues come into play. If I pull out my wireless adapter, say, to make room for my MIDI Keyboard or another flash drive, it will not work. The items that are plugged in during boot will work, but if something is removed and/or plugged back in, the device will not work. My Behringer USB Audio Interface, especially, will lock up the PC upon taking out/plugging back in and I'll have to do a hard reset.

One strange thing I notice is that the USB devices - although not operating once plugged back in while Windows is active - will begin to light up/work if I start shutting down my system. I run Windows 7 Ultimate x64, so when the blueish screen pops up that says "Shutting Down," the USB devices (such as my wireless adapter) will begin working, but at that point it's too late since it's shutting down. Additionally, everything works perfectly in regards to my USB conundrum when I run in Safe Mode.

I'm not sure what would be causing this. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have upgraded my X201 Tablet to Windows 10 32bit. As far as I can tell, everything is working, including the WACOM drivers and touchscreen.  Wireless has worked perfectly so far, not sure about Bluetooth as I don't use it. My only issue is that the buttons on the display do not work. The power button located on the display does work. I tried installing the Tablet Button Driver II and it will go through the install but the buttons do not work.  This is the download link:http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds027627 The document claims Windows 10 compatability and was Last Updated :08 Jun 2015. On inspection, all the files extracted are dated from 2012 and when trying to manually run the software Windows throws up an error that the software is not supported on this PC.   I removed and reinstalled and noted that the driver information page when running the installer does NOT have Windows 10 listed as a supported system. My assumption is that the driver that they have linked on the download page is NOT the most current driver and is infact the driver for Windows 7 from 2012. Does anyone know how to contact Lenovo to get the correct driver posted to the page, or know of an alternate source to try and find it?

Hey guys,
I bought a Flex 3 1580 about a week ago. I reformatted the computer because the video drivers were screwed up, but now when I flip the laptop around to tablet mode, nothing happens. The keyboard cuts out and everything but I no longer get the little pop up that asks if i want to switch. I've tried going into tablet settings and telling it to automatically switch without asking, but this also doesn't work.
I'm wondering if maybe I missed a cruicial piece of software after I reformatted because it was working perfectly before, but I reinstalled everything available on the lenovo website and nothing helped.
I've tried googling this problem over and over but I can never seem to find any answers, especially for this specific model.
Really would appreciate help with this. It's not a huge deal because I can still swith manually, but it certainly would be nice to have it working as before.
Thanks!

Hi,

I got win 7 home premium 64 bit on an i3 laptop. My system worked fine until today morning.

The problem is this;
When I boot the system in normal mode, I get to the part where I need to enter my password to login. Once i do that, all I get is a black screen with the mouse pointer that moves about normally. I've waited for the normal desktop environment to appear (ie icons and taskbar) but this doesn't happen (btw, my desktop background color is always black).
The system boots perfectly in safe mode.

Yesterday was the first time in over a year I used utorrent. I used to get the BSOD when I used to use it. I couldn't rectify the problem and hence had stopped using it. It worked fine yesterday though.

Any idea whats happening and how I could fix the problem?

I've tried running SFC /SCANNOW a couple of times but I keep getting a message that there may be corrupted files. I also created the sfcdetails.txt file.

Hiya... I'm hoping someone can solve this tiny niggle I have with my xt3. Just purchased an XT3 second-hand, and so far so good, however when switching to touch in tablet mode - no keyboard automatically appears when using chrome. When using internet explorer a touch keyboard appears so you can type in to the web at etc, but the same keyboard doesn't open when using chrome, so I literally can't do anything via chrome on tablet mode as no keypad appears for me to press any letters. I have always been a chrome user, and really don't wanna be using internet explorer. It's  probably something I have missed in settings but I can't seem to find anything to fix the small issue! Hi Heck,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

Windows 10 is definitely better designed to be used in table mode and switch between a table mode and computer mode use. Despite that I expected some learning curve, I found that the Windows 10 environment is immediately very intuitive to use. When in Windows 10, you can access the table-mode settings by navigating to Windows 10 Settings > System > Tablet Mode.

?

Also, Turns out there is a screen lock position button on the side. You might have pressed it by accident....that's what I did.

Let us know how you get on.

Hello,

I have a Inspiron 7568 2 in 1 and I am not able to get the login screen to come up when the laptop is in "tablet" mode.  The lock screen shows that you should press and hold the windows button and then press the power button.  When we do this nothing happens?  Is anyone else having a similar issue?

A:Inspiron 7568: Unlock in Tablet Mode?

Spoke to Dell technical support, and they believe that the Windows+Power button shouldn't bring up the login screen while the PC is locked in tablet mode.
This seems crazy, but I tested it on an identical system and it does the same thing.  Hopefully Dell can take care of this issue.

Hello guys. I have a 2-in-1 Laptop (see My System Specs) and I believe that it is not automatically turning into tablet mode when I remove it from the Keyboard Dock. Have any ideas why this is so?

Also, I don't know if this could be the cause of the problem:

Two keyboards and mice, which are exactly identical to each other (checked their driver version etc.)

Hi! I'm finding the taskbar to be useful in desktop mode (where I tend to be using more apps), but to be a waste of space in tablet mode (where I want a full-screen experience). Is there any way to set the taskbar to auto-hide only in tablet mode?
Thanks!
Alan

A:how to set taskbar to auto-hide in tablet mode?

I'm also looking for the same functionality.

So far, all searches yielded negative for this functionality; thus, I can't believe that they did this to us!!! To me, the beauty of the MUI apps was the usage of the full screen real estate. Now, you switch to Tablet mode and you get the stupid Taskbar area.

Yes, I know the MUI apps still have the option to maximize to full-screen, but this--as far as I have been able to test an confirm--is done at an app by app level.

All that is needed is a new option for the Tablet Mode settings: Auto-hide Taskbar?

But if I were to really thoughtfully implement this, I'd duplicate the Desktop settings for the Taskbar fpr Tablet mode. Therefore, in Tablet mode, you could choose the location, etc.

I can't help but believe the auto-hide feature must be coming in an update because I can't believe MS can be so stupid and blind as to not see this requirement.

When the computer is off - and I split the tablet from the keyboard - I then start the tablet up - everything boots fine.  When I open up a browser (either firefox or edge) and  I  touch the address bar of the browser to put the cursor there and then touch the icon to bring up the onscreen keyboard - I try to type in an address but the keyboard switches every 3 or 4 seconds between 2 different kinds - one with a .com (and a .ca also- I'm in canada) near the spacebar and one without it - I cannot get in more than 2 or 3 characters before the browser highlights the address bar - and I can't enter any more characters unless I delete them and type real fast. I'm sure it is some sort of windows 10 issue with the on screen keyboard being used with a browser (problem only happens when I use a browser - either of the above). I can get around this by opening google and typing my address in the googles search window in the main body of the screen - but no other way. I have updated windows and all the hp drivers - am at a loss - did an internet search and nowhere could I see that peoples on screen keyboard has the .com button next to the spacebar. This issue does not happen if I start the unit up with the keyboard & screen attached - then detach it and work with it as a tablet. I have also tried various windows settings as touch friendly tablet mode - with no luck. I should mention one other anomily that may be related - sometimes wh...

Hi,
I need Windows 10 to boot directly to a program. Whatever I try .vbs, .bat or just shortcut in Startup folder, it always starts minimized to task bar. When I click on the task bar it gets blown up full screen.

Once I turn off the Tablet mode it starts good, maximized.

How can I solve this so it boot in Tablet mode AND start the program in proper size?

NOTE: I use touch screen but I dont think it maters.

Thanks,
[email protected]

A:Startup program starts minimized when in Tablet mode

In Tablet mode, the start menu is prioritized to the front so any startup program running will be minimized.

Try this:

To make Start full screen and see everything in one view, go to Start button, then Settings  > Personalization  > Start, and then turn on Use Start full screen.

I like Windows. I've used Windows since 3.1. (I also worked for a company that adopted IBM OS/2... those old IBM salesmen could sell anything!). I staunchly defend Microsoft and Windows in tech discussions with Apple Fanboys and Linux nerds. I never wavered, even through Windows M/E, and Vista. I studiously avoided 8 and 8.1. But operating on the theory that MS gets it right on every other release, I decided to give Win 10 a try. My faith is wobbling badly!

I first tried upgrading my non-touch Toshiba laptop. Mehhh. While the upgrade process ran smoothly for me, and I had read enough to know what to do, it was still a bumpy experience. I hate the new (unmanageable) start menu so much, I bought Stardock's Start-10 application. Then, to be fair, I picked up a low end Asus Transformer Book (T100taf) to try the tablet mode. That is when I figured out that Windows Tablet is a cruel practical joke perpetrated by MS. I'll bet Steve Ballmer is still laughing about it. I documented my complaints in a couple of lengthy posts on my personal bog. If you are interested, here is a link http://www.larryc.com/archives/1493. It is a rant, but I didn't feel like re-typing it here and boring you if you don't care. Suffice it to say that I will NOT be upgrading my Win-7 desktop, or my wife's Win-7 laptop to Windows 10.

I have a few-months old Yoga 2 11 that was working perfectly, until a few weeks ago when I went to use it in tablet mode the display screen went all out of whack. It turns the screen, but only half of it - the top half of the screen is turned and the menu bar shows up in the middle of the screen, and the bottom half looks like the screen in regular computer mode.  I've tried restarting, tried turning tablet mode off, but every time I flex it back to use as a tablet this happens, virtually making that feature unuseable. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a solution for it?

After some quick Google-ing, I found that I had to update the Wacom tablet PC driver. I tried calibrating the screen several times and uninstalling and reinstalling the driver but nothing work. Also, the rotation button below the screen doesn't work. More specifically, it seems like the .exe (PHTRot.exe) which it's suppose to run when pressed doesn't work. I have a basic model of the YOGA 300 (11 BY).  Due to size limitations of the eMMC drive, I couldn't upgrade to windows 10 (not enough disk space). So I downloaded the windows 10 installer/ISO to a 32gb SD Card, and upgraded from there.. actually (probably a mistake in retrospect) I did a clean install.. Windows 10 runs with no problems, and I downloaded./installed all the Lenovo drivers for windows 10 for this machine. Unfortunately I now have two issues: 1. When I flip the screen into tablet mode, the laptop doesn't seem to realise, and so I don't get the auto-tablet mode that I would expect? 2. Even with all the Lenovo drivers for this machine installed, I do not get any touch-screen response at all.. only mouse driven. Any help would be appreciated. P.S:  Anyone with the same version of YOGA 300 with an eMMC who wish to gain more drive space?  You can buy a cheap USB 3.0 slimline USB disk (because the SD Card sticks out a bit) and create a VHD which gives you a second "real drive"... this was particularlly useful when wanting to store my dropbox/onedrive sync locations!

Over the last few months my Thinkpad S1 Yoga has developed a habit of randomly entering tablet mode when the lid is about 90-120 degrees open, as if the lid was swung past 180 degrees. Consequently the keyboard and trackpad are disabled when this happens. Closing the lid to force the computer to sleep and then opening the lid again removes the symptom. Hi

I've just acquired a Satellite R10-101 Laptop/Tablet.

The machine did not come with a touch pen so I am unsure if the touch screen is working or not.

When the machine is in tablet mode the touch screen does not respond to any touch with a finger. I have tried a pointing device from a hand held Windows CE device that has a touch screen but this does not work on the R10's touch screen.

Does the touch screen need to be enabled or do I need to obtain a Toshiba Touch Pen?

The machine is running Windows XP Tablet Edition. Will I get the same functionally if I upgrade to Windows 7. Is the R10's hardware compatible with Win 7?

Thanks for any help or advice.

Hi

The display panel works as a touch sensitive digitizer screen.
You need the Tablet Pen in order to use the touch display in tablet mode.

I think that you can order the missing tablet pen from Toshiba authorized service partner in your country or google for the part numbers: P000407550 or P000445420

Hi There,

My setup: I have a windows 8.1 with Bing tablet. I am hoping to install these into taxi's and utilize for advertising. The charger will be connected to the ignition (will be on charge) and will hopefully go into sleep mode when ignition is off (ie:
no charge). Then when car starts the unit will boot up again (being on charge again).

I am therefore trying to make the tablet sleep after ignition is turned off (unfortunately there isn't an auto power ON function in the bios otherwise i would set that). So my plan is to try and make the tablet sleep (when car turns off) and then
wake up when the car starts (i.e: starts charging).

Q1: I know about the power settings but feeling very limited with them. I cant seem to send the tablet into sleep mode when i have a video running (and after the car has turned off)- If video isnt playing then the tablet will sleep. Is there anything
i am doing wrong, can i force the tablet to sleep no matter what apps/windows are open?

Q2: When power is restored, how can i get the tablet to boot up and open/continue playing the video?

Q3: If i use sleep mode i cant put the tablet into sleep when a video is playing (If i can execute this then i can use a task schedule to start up tablet from sleep

Any ideas or additional software platforms would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi

We have bought a Portege Z20t-C-121 to test it as a replacement for some of our senior management. I re-built it with Windows 10 Enterprise and installed all the latest Drivers from the Toshiba Website. The Intel Wi-Fi Driver did not work correctly so I downloaded and installed it from the Intel website.

The only thing I can't get to function seems to be the auto screen rotation; when I un-dock the screen to use it as a tablet Windows detects this and switches to tablet mode but, however I turn the screen it remains in the same landscape orientation that it was in when it was docked.

These work fine, but I can't get the tablet to recognize that I am using the touchscreen itself, even though the other side keys are attached via the touchscreen. It didn't come with a stylus, and I have found a website online to purchase a replacement stylus, but they only sell them in a pack of 5.

First of all, will purchasing a new stylus enable me to use the touchpad itself? And second, is there a generic driver for XP that would allow me to use the stylus or other pointing device (such as a finger) as a "mouse"?

I just bought an Inspiron 15-5568.  I put it into tablet mode and I'm trying to pull up an email in my Yahoo Inbox using IE.  I double-tap on one of the email messages in my inbox to pull it up.  Instead of pulling up the message, the double-tap zooms in the entire IE screen.  Another double-tap zooms it out again. I've tried a number of different operations to pull up an email message but nothing works.  I can get a context menu to appear next to a message but there's no option to Read or View the message.  If I was using a mouse, I would double-click the message and it would come up.
I reviewed the user guide but it's not of much help.
Can someone please tell me how to pull up an email message in Yahoo or Google Mail with an Inspiron 15-5568 in tablet mode?  It seems like this should be very simple but it's not.
Thanks in advance.

It works on my admin account, but not on this one...I'm guessing the driver can't start up on this standard account? Is there a way to change this?

What model tablet are you using? I have the one listed in my specs (see below) and that works perfectly for me. In fact, I had to resort to using it for a while when the left mouse button failed (I have since got a new mouse).

I have sort of an odd problem. I have a desktop computer that is connect to the internet wirelessly. Everything works fine there. I also have an xbox360 connected to the desktop via an Ethernet cable. I use this connection primarily to stream movies from my computer to the xbox. Today in the middle of a movie the movie stopped playing and gave me an error saying xbox isn't connected to the computer any more.
I checked the physical connection and everything was fine. I looked at my desktop (running windows xp) and noticed my LAN connection wasn't properly running. It said I have limited or no connectivity. So I tried repairing it, renewing it, disabling and re-enabling it. Nothing worked. In fact I get this error: "An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out."

I also noticed I have a 169.254.xxx.xxx IP address, if that helps at all:
EDIT: Forgot to mention I also reinstalled the driver for the LAN card.

I upgraded from XP to Vista Ultimate. I have all updates both optional and
required. Since the upgrade I've noticed that when I am in IE and click on a
linked video (for example, a .mov file or anything like that instead of
getting the video I get a 404. Every time, without exception. Youtube still
works for me, so I don't know why it wouldn't be a problem there too... it's
only when I actually click on the link to a video. I've trid it in Safari and
it works for me, so the problem is definitely IE.

Also, if I click on a link and it makes a new page pop up, after about 20-30
times of doing this (during the course of the computer being on) IE will not
let me open any other links that create a new window. I tried restarting IE,
but it doesn't work. I also tried starting alternative internet browsers
after IE caused it to not open new windows, but every alternative browser
wouldn't work properly either. This is really getting to be an aggravation,
as I have to restart my computer every single time this happens.

Short of a complete reformat, I really don't know what to do. I hate to
format because I don't want to take a full day out of my life just to fix
something that should have worked properly in the first place. Anything you
guys can advise me on would be appreciated more than you know.

A:Clicking on videos not working & pages not working properly

My friend has given me a computer to look at, but I am not any kind of expert. I thought he just wanted me to clean it up, but it will not load Windows. It keeps restarting. I have tried choosing safe mode, last good config., normal, EVERYTHING! I'm just keep going around in circles (literally).

I tried hitting F10/R b/c there wasn't any other options, but it only gets to 51% and then says:

"Failed to create user partition, we can create the partition via the stored DPT data by the first recovery process." NOTE: This will cause DATA LOSS if you have made any partition operation after the PC is shipped to you. By clicking 'OK' we will perform this dangerous operation. If you are not sure, please click 'CANCEL' to stop the recovery process."

He doesn't care about any files on the computer, so if anyone has any ideas please share!! FYI: I do not have a disk to just simply reinstall Windows

A:XP not booting properly in any mode!

If you can get to the safe boot menu and choose the option 'disable automatic restart on system failure' you'll get an error code or blue screen. It appears that you've initiated the system recovery that has fail without completing. That said if you can find a hardware problem such as bad ram or a bum psu you should be able to change the part and then hopefully the system recovery process will complete. First you'll want to rule out the memory and HDD, you can do this with this image burnt to disc with IMGBurn. Ultimate Boot CD - Download the UBCD
Boot from this disc and test the RAM and HDD if either fail you know your problem. If this is a desktop, before you spend time download and testing, open up the case and inspect the motherboard for burnt or swollen capacitors. It a quick thing to do and since the computer is older (I am guessing it is since it's got xp) it's a real possibility. If there's no hardware problem, you'll most likely need a xp disc to fox the problem. Post the computer specs next time you post.
