IE10 wont load a page in desktop view

Q: IE10 wont load a page in desktop view

If I click on the IE10 tile in metro view a webpage opens OK.I then click on the spanner icon and select "view on desktop". IE10 opens but the page won't load.
This is quite annoying as a lot of pages use plugins such as flash and these cannot be viewed in the metro view.

Any suggestion would be welcomed.

Terry

A: IE10 wont load a page in desktop view

That's strange. In that case I would suggest you to stay on Metro view .

I have an FTP internally that is used to host PDF & HTML files. Previously all users could log onto this FTP site and double click on any file content to have it open within the default browser. We use FTP in explorer view so each user
can set their terminals to save their passwords, hence they log straight into their root folder on the FTP - if we use the FTP list view in the browser this doesnt happen, meaning user 9999 has a long way to scroll to find their documents!

This has always worked absolutely fine until IE10 has been installed, now any user with IE10 cant open files straight from the FTP via the Explorer view. The file doesnt download, the destination file ends up at 0KB so just doesnt open in the
browser. Roll back to IE9 fixes the problem. Using Chrome as the default browser fixes the problem. Using the FTP list view also works fine (however we cant use this since it wont default to users root folder that they have access to)

Ive attempted everything i can think of without luck, its looking like we're going to have to block IE10 or switch to Chrome. Basically opening files from any FTP site (have tested others) in explorer view with IE10 installed just isnt working.
You can however copy the document to the local machine then open ok..

Any ideas, what am i missing here!?
Cheers!!!

The title says it all. When I open a URL shortcut from the desktop, IE opens it to a blank page. All links opened from within IE and other programs, however, open fine.

I have spent two days searching for a solution everywhere I can locate and tried all of the solutions I found (short of a reinstall of WIN7) and nothing has worked. I have uninstalled IE 10 back to IE8 and reinstalled it twice, but each reinstall of IE8, 9, and 10 have not gotten rid of the problem. I must stay with WIN7 and IE10 for now for various reasons so I need to find a solution.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Is there a specific reason why you have not updated to sp2 yet?

Platform: Windows XP (WinNT 5.01.2600)
MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 (6.00.2600.0000)

I would suggest you go to windows update and get all available updates.

You should also probably clean temp internet files, history and any cookies related to myspace.com and to newgrounds.
You can get latest flash player from macromedia.com

Hi folks

I am unable to load this website

http://panel.gfkireland.com

It is a survey panel, all above board. Ive emailed them and they cannot figure out any problem at their end. Ive emailed another forum too and the replies said that they had no problem getting it to work. SO it must be my problem!

Ive tried it in Firefox and IE 7, all to no avail. Im using Vista; the laptop is pretty new. No problem with any other websites. But this just wont work.

I have broadband, and using a wireless router.

I did have a problem submitting a post longer than 8-10 lines to Wealthy Appiliate forum about 6 months ago. Again they checked it out and tried everything and to no avail. If the post was shorter there was no problem. Really weird.

My ISP webmaster cannot figure out why this should be. Im not sure if the 2 problems are connected. Someone suggested the router firewall....??? Do I have one, I dont know! Im using Vista firewall. Why would the firewall affect 1 site or 1 post?

I've also, just tonight, tried it on my sisters connection down the road, and still no joy. She's using the same service provider.

PLEASE HELP!!!!
thanks

Hi, this is my very first time using this forum and i really need some help with my issue.
Very recently the following page www.kinguin.net stopped working on my pc.

The issue is only specific to this page, and using the same router on my laptop i am able to see the page without any trouble.

On my pc however, the page loads up distorted with no images and a bunch of line codes.

Im using Google Chrome and tried clear cache on both Chrome and IE. No diferences made. Using the Chromes Developer Tools. Tried also disable all extensions repair Chrome and even Unnisnstall and Re-Installed it.

The page error can be seen here http://i.imgur.com/lNDAACU.jpg and here using Chromes Developer Console i notice it shows alot of errors http://i.imgur.com/o5lGcsg.jpg .

Since i can display the page on my laptop, i found this very weird to happen.

I Apreciate your advice and help

Iv gotten a pesky worm or some spam program and than had it removed with another program that searched it and got rid of it nicely. After that I think there’s something wrong with browsers since they don't load any pages but only in safe mode they do. Everything else such as streaming P2P programs seem to work. I tried both Explorer and FireFox.

A:Browsers wont load page but everything else connects

No difference.
I did not have System Restore On during infection and removal. Plus during removal it was suggested to keep i toff, so System Restore wouldn't play much of a part here since I dought itl have a previous good time to restore to.

The removal program I used was Smitfraudfix.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic58415.html
The infection was "SpyGuard" that was installed through ActiveX maybe or Explorer at least from some website.
So Im not sure if its Port 80 or what thats blocked...
Just browsing wont load pages, cuz its waiting for a reply...
Other connections seem fine.
I un-installed MCAfee's SecurityCentre Firewall and no help.
I tried LSPFix, but no difference.
Only Safe Mode can browse pages.

sounds like spyware or a virus to me. Download spybot and ad-aware (both in my signature) install them and run a scan. Also you might what to run a Hijack this and post it in hijack log section.

Yahoo causes intermitent redirects. I ended up with the Antivirus Soft from one of the redirects. Also noticed I cannot access windows update whatsoever , the pages will not load, I get a page reset errorInstalled IE8, on startup it warns me that a program is trying to change my default search engine. I turn on the computer , it loads normaly untill it goes into windows. Then all i get is the background picture , meaning the desktop wont load. The funny thing is that if i get in the task manager and terminate a process called : Rundll.exe , the desktop does load and everything is normal.

Could someone tell me , what is the problem ?

Do you have all SP2 updates? Once you get to desktop run windows update.
Are you getting an we're sorry error message referring you to start in Safe Mode? If this doesn't work you may have to do a repair install.

Hi there,

I tried to create a shortcut for a web site I was on, but ended up with the whole page instead of the icon on my Desktop.

Also, my Microsoft Photo Editor seems to have disappeared. When I click on download attachment on an email that contains a picture, the Microsoft photo editor icon appears in the task bar but no picture appears.

Any ideas???

Regards.

A:web page on desktop wont go away!

Theres a known bug with photo editor

If you right click on the icon in your task bar and choose expand this will pull it back up and get it working again

Have you set the image as a background?

If so right click on the desktop anywhere that doesnt have an icon on it and choose properites. Select the background tab and select a new background

Hola. Im new to the forums and im not positive if this is the area im suppose to post tech questions under but if its the wrong spot could an admin just move me to the appropriate spot. Thanks.

Ok, now my problem is that my explorer.exe is not loading at boot up. I have no desktop icons, no start bar, no way to view my computers files, other than Task Manager. ctrl alt dlt works fine and i can run Mozilla and most other programs. However i cant run the Ctrl Panel files or any other system programs. I tried deleteing explorer.exe but it replaced in a few seconds, though ive heard this is a windows function im kind of skeptic of a trojan. I tried running 'msconfig' and restarting with a diagnostic setup to see if it was a running program that was disabling explorer from starting but no luck. I tried safe mode but still no explorer/desktop. All i have is a background image. I ran Ewido, SpyBot, Registry Cleaner, Windows Defender, AVG, and AdAware all under safe mode twice and still nothing.

ANY help would be awesome. Ide really like to get this resolved within the week, without formatting and re loading windows. Oh and also the only forums i could find on anything similiar to this are old, like 05' and none of the solutions worked, so im assuming its a new build of an older virus? Anyways yea i gave as much info as possible on my situation. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

A:Explore.exe/Desktop wont load.

Hi Nolanite

I can think of three things you can try (before the going the reinstall route) - 1) using System Restore from the Safe Mode command-prompt only mode
2) trying a Registry tweak
3) trying a run of Windows File Protection
__________
System Restore from the Safe Mode command prompt

Even though you can't reach the 'normal' graphically-rich version of Safe Mode, you might be able to load Safe Mode in the command-line only form.
1) Reboot your computer
2) Start tapping the F8 key as the system is restarting
3) Choose "Safe Mode with Command Prompt"
4) Logon as "Administator", and type the password (or logon as a user with full administrative rights & type that password)
5) From the command prompt, type:
C:> cd \Windows\system32\restore (where C: is the system drive)
6) From the command prompt, type
C:\Windows\system32\restore> rstrui.exe
7) Follow the prompts, choosing a restore point from before the disappearance of the desktop, et al.

__________

Registry Tweak

Another quick-fix attempt would be to try one of Kelley's Korner's Registry tweaks to restore the desktop. You can try the tweak in the right-hand column of row #195, entitled "Restore Desktop Icons & Taskbar". It runs as a script, so here's the instructions to note:
"To use the VBS Files: Download .vbs file and save it to your hard drive (you may want to right click and use Save Target As). Double
click the vbs file. You will... Read more

A:Desktop/Explorer Wont Load up at all!

Have you tried using the WinXP CD before booting, so that your BIOS can recognize it and run the repair program(s) on it? Before doing this, you may need to change a BIOS setting so that it looks for a boot CD before a hard drive or any other boot device. Or by saying "unusable," do you really mean that it won't work at all, even, say, in another computer or outside of the operating system? If it really is unusable, you might be able to get a friend's working CD/DVD drive and connect it to your PC and use it to repair it.
If you are connected to the internet and you use it, the reason for your problems may be that you don't have anti-virus software installed.

Hi I really hope someone can help me!

I have a fujitsu lifebook with windows 7 on it
I had an error message pop up when i tried to click on google chrome this morning, so I closed it and attempted to re-start my laptop, then AVG pops up telling me I have a virus so I allowed it to "clear" said virus. I then restarted my laptop and it would not go to the login page.

I attempted system repair to no avail, I then allowed chkdsk to run and there were a lot of "security ID repairs", I have also tried f12 and booting from my windows 7 installation disk. Non of these options have worked

I get the fujitsu screen, then the windows loading screen then instead of the log in screen which would be next, I get a black screen with the cursor visable and you can move the cursor but nothing else works and no keyboard shortcuts work

someone please help.
I've been told to restore the OS but i cannot afford to lose all the files on my laptop

A:Laptop wont load past windows page, stuck with black screen and cursor

Since AVG 'cleaned' a virus - all bets r off as the problem could be a leftover from the virus. apparently, a (some) system files r damaged. Going forward, u might not want to run normally as an admin user. That helps keep malware from invisibly installing if the AV does not catch it. 1. have u tried booting to safe mode? If u can get there try this clk Start - type CMD -- rt clk cmd.exe and select Run as Admin when the dos window opens type 'sfc /scannow' let it run retry boot when done. 2. If u can't get there or that doesn't work put ur windows CD in and boot to that. Run the repair install - or it might be called upgrade. Just do NOT do a CLEAN install. That will not erase any of your data. 3. If that does not work If u get a Hiren's boot disk, or something similar. U can boot to that and most likely copy ur data from the drive prior to doing a clean install. This assumes the drive isn't corrupt which appears to be true since it gets to the Windows screen. 4. If not u will have to remove the drive and connect it to another computer as an external HDD to copy the data. 5. If none of the above works - u have come to the complete understanding of the word BACKUP................ good luck

The problem: IE10 seems to now default all web sites to "Internet Explorer 10 Compatibility View" browser mode.

This will in turn change the Documents mode to something other than "Standards" unless each web page has explicitly defined : <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible">, and often screw up how things are rendered.  The user is able to
change it manually via the f12 menu, but it reverts back the next time IE is opened.

Also: the broken paper icon in the address bar is no longer displayed for any page, and "tools > compatibility view" is greyed out.

It's this same way for any PC at my business, and regardless of what's in the compatibility view list.  And yes "display all websites in compatibility view" is not checked.

Up until some point in the last year, it didn't work this way.  Before: it would default to "Internet Explorer" unless the web site was explicitly included in the compatibility view list.

Can anyone still on IE10 recreate this?  Was there a windows update at some point in the recent past that has affected this behavior?  Or does this have to be something in my environment?

Thanks,
Jaime

Interesting thread here. Basically if you want to keep using FTP in explorer view with normal functionality then steer well clear of IE10 and IE11.

IE10 wont allow me to open FTP files in Explorer View

Sadly MS shows no inclinations to fix. I feel IE10 and IE11 are a backwards step over IE9 which ticked along very nicely. Trouble is we will all have to use them sooner or later as major players like Google drop support.

I do personally feel MS with Windows 8 and IE10/11 are forcing change for the sake of change. Anyways it's an interesting thread nonetheless and just wanted potential users to to be aware. Of course most of the masses will not use FTP but just in case.

A:IE10 and IE11 FTP Explorer view issues

Seems the resolution was simply to drag the file to your desktop and wait for it to download and double click it to open,
Seems fairly straight forward ?
The file would download in one way or another regardless.

Hi,

When I update to IE10 I'm unable to look at my router stats.. SKY netgear 934g.

If I type the usual address in 192.168.0.1 I just get the revolving circle and nothing else happens.

I uninstalled IE10 and it works ok. Today an automatic windows update reinstalled IE10 and I get the same issue.

No one else I've spoken to seems to have this issue.

Any ideas?

It started with the unability for the OS to load properly from the disk; it would hang halfway through; the disk was then chkdsk'd which resulted in several errors was found and subsequently fixed.Upon next boot, the OS seemed to load properly, but not long after a system crash was apparent: "%systemroot%/config/SECURITY is missing or corrupt."The SECURITY hive then was replaced (via the recovery console) with its counterpart in %windir%/repair which immediately resulted in lsass.exe throwing errors upon startup; the replace process then was repeated for the remaining hives until lsass was satisfied (reported no errors). Then for a moment one could think all was good (no moaning system services, no BSODs), but it was not (as the title also reveals):You aren't able to come past the login screen; as soon as you enter, a white screen appears and the next second you're back on the login screen again. This behavour is true for all accounts currently on the system (including the hidden system one). Currently all registry hives have been replaced except for SOFTWARE.Any help or pointers are truly appreciated!

Hello. Thanks for taking a moment to review my issue!

Problem details:

The computer is joined to a domain, all users exhibit the problem on this computer. Everything appears to work fine on the computer with the exception of explorer.exe. The issues seems to be this. The system boots up, and the user logs in, and the desktop is displayed. They can do everything on the computer they need to do until they try to double click my computer, or try to load control panel or any other features that use the windows explorer as a base. What happens exactly is nothing. You make the double click on the icon or right click and choose open and your cursor switches to the pointer with hour glass for a brief moment and then goes back to normal. No window opens up. The system runs without errors aside from this symptom.

What I have tried:

I ran Malware bytes and it did find some suspicious things and cleaned them out. I thought this would fix the issue since it had an entry that was related to explorer in the registry it was fixing. After the reboot the issues still persists and Malware bytes now says the system is clean. I ran a HiJackThis and found nothing unusual that i can tell. I have attached this log for your own review. I have run PROCMAN, and found that there are some suspicious things that happen with explorer.exe where it will open a file similar to "c:\windows\M[][][]O[][]" where [] is a box, and the O is a circle. They are special characters and the s... Read more

A:Explorer.exe runs the desktop but wont load anything else (Filebrowsing, Controlpanel etc.)

THank you for your efforts but we have resolved the issue. There was a missing shell entry in the system that was likely due to one of the malware that MBAM removed. Thanks we do not need further help.

Backstory (skip if you need)
I'm fixing someones laptop, It was slow and taking 30 minutes to startup, i did the usually virus scan and restarted, then it was stuck in an auto repair loop. I used a windows 8 Install CD from microscoft. None of the options in it would work, install (key doesnt match) reset (missing partition), image recovery (cant find an image), restore (no restore point), etc.

Used command prompt, did stuff like bootrec, bcdedit, diskpart, and chkdsk. After it ran chkdsk it finally loaded windows. I reset/reinstalled the OS completely. Fixed, restarted, running smooth. Owner said it was working great for a day, then after turning it back on it was in an auto repair loop.

Now
It's stuck in a preair loop, I can't even boot from the 8 CD! Have it configured in the bios, it shows the the blue windows logo then the screen goes black for 3 minutes and a blue screen flashes for 1 second saying  "Your PC ran into a problem and need to restart. Collecting some info (0% complete) search online for error: 0x000021a"

The weird thing is, Windows 7 disks boot fine, but it's "not compatible". And if I physically remove the HDD, it will boot into the windows 8 CD. So I put the HDD back in (while still at the command prompt) and it wont take my commands in related to the C: . I get a "System cannot find the drive specified"

I also tried hooking upp the HDD to my PC SATA, it shows in explorer, but just right clicking it crashes explorer.exe. D... Read more

A:Windows wont load, Boot CD wont load, Automatic Repair Loop

UPDATE:

I got a windows 8.1 disk made and it allowed me yo boot from the CD, but it's SLOOOOW, it takes minutes to load reset or w.e (none of them still work), or open the command prompt.

I ran chkdsk /f /r /x but it didnt help. chkdsk /r ends with:
"A disk read error occurredcc0000185
Insufficient disk space to fix the Usn Journal $J data stream."

Before when I ran it, I'm pretty sure it let me restart and booted into windows, not now.

Next I tried bootrec.
/fixmbr - succesful
/fixboot - succesfull
/rebuildBCD - Total identified Windows installations: 0
/scanOS - Total identified Windows installations: 0

Next bcdedit
Nothing worked "The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The requested system device cannot be found."

Next sfc /scannow
"There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again."
Then sfc /SCANNOW /OFFBOOTDIR=c:\ /OFFWINDIR=d:\Windows
"Windows resources protection didnt find integrity violations"

BCDBoot c:\WindowsFailure when attempting to copy boot files

Next diskpart - but I forgot what I did before that may have worked. All i can remember is I had to select a disk or volume, and do something with it.

PC info from another thread: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-xp/1014881-media-center-not-working.html#post8088791

The other day, a blue screen error appeared on my PC about ati2dvag/infinite loop. I looked online for help and came across a number of different forums. Most of the responses stated that possibly my driver needed updating.

From looking at the Display Driver in the Device Manager, I was able to see that I have an ATI Radeon X1550. I went to the amd website to update my driver and whilst doing so, I got a message saying it couldnt locate a specific file. Then the installation wizard appeared and I followed the steps but then I got a message stating that the one I have installed is not digitally signed and it could affect the performance. I had no idea what this meant but the warning message put me off so I cancelled it.

I then tried to open Media Centre but I was unable to watch live TV because I kept getting an error message the video card had an error or was not installed properly so I went back to the Device Manager and the icon on the first drive indicated the device had been disabled (red x) and the second driver indicated the device wasnt responding/working properly (exclamation mark in a yellow triangle) so I reinserted the installation CD and opened setup. It was successful so I tried to open MC again but I got another blue screen error.

When I tried to start Windows again, my PC was extremely slow. The icons that appear in the lower tray on the right... Read more

On only this Win 7 Ultimate, 64bit machine I cannot save a webpage in any of the three options - webpage complete, Web Archive (Mht), or Web page HTML only. The saves work fine when saving to my C: drive but I save all my personal data on an NAS. When saving to the NAS from this particular machine it shows the progress bar as though it is saving, then flashes up the "This Web Page Could not be saved". The page is there and usually will open but not always and sometimes opening the page takes forever.

I suspect something in the firewall is not set right and I need help on what to look for. When I go into the firewall for the private network I see pages and pages of rules. What rule should I look for specifically to allow web pages to be saved to my private networked NAS? Would it be an incoming or outgoing rule or would both be affected?

My wife has another Win 7 (home premium) which saves web pages to the NAS ok, and I have a Win 8.1 netbook that has no problems saving web pages using IE10.

Any ideas?

Hi,

I've tried searching all over the net, but I wasn't able to find anyone reporting this issue (or, maybe I just couldn't find the right key word to describe this issue). The problem is, when I have multiple tabs in IE10, it begins to have this weird issue where if I click on a different tab to switch to that page, IE10 still displays the page I was on before. The funny thing is, if I move my mouse over the page, the location of the links, etc are actually of the new page I switched to. If I view page source, it also confirms that I am in fact on the right page, so it's just the display that's wrong. I already tried resetting IE10, but the problem came right back. I don't have this issue with any other browsers. If anyone knows any fix for this, please let me know. Please don't tell me to use different browsers, as I don't consider that a solution (I already have firefox, and I have a reason why I want to keep using both IE and firefox on my PC, chrome is out of the window d/t its sneaky privacy invasion features).

Thank you,

GT

Open ie,
Use Alt+TO or gear symbol and Internet options,
Delete browser history Settings button,
Cache and databases section and Uncheck allow databases, Close.
Delete browser history and see if the issue returns.
Just to add when you delete your browser history Uncheck the top box then delete.

Try this;

Go to Control Panel and select Internet Options OR select the Gear icon from inside Internet Explorer and select Internet Options

Select the General tab and in the Browsing history section select the Delete button.

Now go to the Advanced tab, select Restore advanced settings and Reset, then press OK and restart your computer.

If you do not see a speed increase, try updating Flash:

If you still don't notice a difference, your web browser have an extension slowing the games down.

It is working on one computer, but I can't identify the difference. Both computers are running windows 7 and the lastest version of java. The one where it works is also running Java 6 Update 27 (64-bit) and Java Update 30, but installing these on the other computer was no help. I'd like to add that it worked on the one computer because of a user account. That user account works on other computers. It is an admin account, but the only admin account that works.

Any ideas why this would be happening?

Have tried:
Running IE in comparability mode
resetting IE

My thoughts are that this still might have something to do with java, but I'm not sure what to do about it. Switching to a different browser/IE version is not an option.

Hi Everybody,

If anybody could give me some pointers on my problem I would really appreciate it

I have Windows 8.1 on my HP Pavilion Laptop. I have this problem where after starting my PC, logging in and being dropped into the Panel view, I wait for about 10 seconds... and then the PC starts thrashing and constantly flicking between the traditional Desktop and the Panel view without me touching a button / clicking on anything!

The only things I can access on my laptop are:

Task ManagerGoogle Chrome (by clicking on the icon very quickly in Panel View before it flicks back to traditional Desktop)

This problem literally prevents me accessing anything else. As soon as I start opening something in traditional desktop mode, the pc flicks straight back to Panel view and it is lost! Even if I am quick enough to click on an application, it doesn't even load it!

I am almost certain it is some piece of software that I must have picked up along the way. I've been trying to use my Norton antivirus to scan and detect it... but I cannot even open that to scan, due to this very problem.

I even tried using the Trend Micro Home Call service, which I could access through Chrome of course. Unfortunately as soon as I tried downloading it I was told it had failed as there is no access to the internet(!?) very odd indeed.

I have not encoutered any details of this problem on the internet but if anybody could assist with this I would appreciate it so much! Thank you guys

Also when i go to click on like my internet it dont work, not even my games work, they try to load then freeze. So i did a scan on it and its still having this problem. After i got frustrated i went to shut it down again and it says "logging off" but stays like that for hours, so i have to manualy turn it off. Now with internet issue, it works in safe mode with connection, but not in my normal screen. WHY IS THIS DOING THIS?

Good afternoon. Yesterday, I downloaded an update for my husband's HP printer onto his computer. At the same time, it downloaded BING, which we have never used. After that, we noticed his firewall was off, and we were unable to get it turned back on. Also, we cannot download any security. And his home page has changed. We are unable to change it back. We have Microsoft security essentials which runs regularly. In doing some research, it appears his browser has been hijacked.

Can someone please help me get his computer UN-hijacked? http://www.sevenforums.com/images/smilies/confused.gif

A:IE10 browser hijacked. Unable to load firewall or download programs.

Here are some things you might want to try:
1. Run a full scan on Security Essentials? If so, did you find any viruses?
2. Go to Start>Run>msconfig and go to the startup tab and make sure that only the items that are important (eg. Windows 7, Intel Software, Microsoft Security Essentials) items are selected; you may also be able to find the item if it has made a shortcut here.
3. Try going into safe mode and see if anything changes.
4. What you may also want to do is to get Malwarebytes and perform a scan: Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware download

First off I suddenly got the Antivirus Pro. Went to your forums and tried the removal guide, went to taskbar and tried to end process on antiviruspro.exe and svchast.exe. Then I downloaded Malwarebytes and tried to scan, about 10 seconds into the scan the program shutdown. I also tried to run SDfix and as soon as it started scanning it shut down. I rebooted and started in safe mode with networking, when I did this Windows Antivirus 2010 also appeared on my desktop along with antivirus pro. Next I downloaded the trial of avast and did the scan on startup since I couldn't get any programs to run. During the scan it said it deleted Antispyware 2010 along with about 5 other trojans that I forget what they are and failed to write down. After the scan I rebooted in safemode with networking once again and now my desktop will not load. The only way I can try to open a program is through the taskbar using ctrl alt del. Tried running explorer.exe, tried Old Timer program, tried fix.reg w/notepad and still nothing happens. I don't know what else to try to get my desktop back. Im not even sure if I got rid of either of the viruses, they don't show up in processes in the taskbar but I cant get anything to work. Every program except internet explorer shuts down or wont open altogether. I hope I have explained all of this well enough. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am facing several major issues with IE10:

1. Autocomplete does not work for most sites unless one switches to "compatibility view". I am unable to save usernames, passwords and form data in normal mode.
2. When I login to the Gmail web interface, I am unable to delete messages in any folder (Spam, Sent & Trash) - they keep reappearing. However if I login from a Win7/IE9 machine, I am able to delete messages without a problem.

It seems to me that IE10 (Desktop) on Win8 has major compatibility problems with many websites.

A:Major Issues with IE10 (Desktop)

- Try resetting IE10 (internet options, advanced)

- Scan with your antivirus (AV)

- If running a different AV than the one incorporated, disable or uninstall

- Reset Windows 8 (settings, change PC settings, general)

- Are you still running Win8 Enterprise ? Check for updates.
I have not had issues with IE10 on the Desktop with either the Enterprise and now Win8 Pro. Good Luck !

STEP 1: open IE10 in Windows 8
STEP 2: open SPY++ tool
STEP 3: Select Microsoft Internet Explorer -IEFrame
STEP 4: Right Click on Microsoft Internet Explorer -IEFrame and select Highlight
There will be few portions(Look at the edges of IEFrame) which is not highlighted. why is this happening for Windows 8 ie10 alone. let me know if anybody came across similar kind of issue and reason for it.

Greetings gurus. Internet trouble. As the title says, my mail will not load in any browser. Page load is very slow and most things time out at least once. AT&T ran line tests on DSL and everything was clean. Not sure how this could be. Speedtest was run many times and no probs. I even did some gaming which strains everything with no problems. I'm open to the possibility of a virus. Ran Avira and MBAM but haven't gone further. Strangely the wife's Facebook games are a no-go. Also, wireless devices work fine. Heeeeelp!

After signing off my Facebook and MSN email accounts (desktop) at night, the next morning when I boot up, they are open. Also, when on MSN home page, Live Mail, or web pages with links, my Optical Wireless Pilot Mouse left click does not function on most links I click on - I have to right click and then click on OPEN.
I use Norton 360, and have also run Malwarebytes, Spybot Search & Destroy,  SUPERAntiSpyware trying to find my problem.
I found Bleeping Computer when using Norton Web Support.  I hope there is someone out there that can advise me on what to do next.

A:Email & Facebook are already open when first starting WIN7/IE10 desktop

No reason for them to be open unless someone/something has them running at boot, IMO.

I'd use a startup manager such as Startup Control Panel - http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml and see what's listed.  Any items listed can be unchecked to prevent them running at boot, this does not prevent the program from running on demand.

I have a very simple web page that automatically updates daily. However, very often when I view it I just get the version that is in my browser cache rather than the latest version from the web. I have to do a manual refresh from the browser to see the latest version. Not a problem for me, but other viewers of the page may not realize they aren't seeing the latest information.

Is there an HTML tag or some such that can be included in the page that will force a refresh and override any old version that the viewer may still have in their browser cache?

Hi there.
I recently had a trojan dnschanger on my laptop. I tried using malwarebytes program to remove it several times and then gave up and sent it in to get repaired at a shop in town. They told me there was no infection and sent it back to me. I reran the test and sure enough it was gone. but...

What had originally made me try using malwarebytes to scan ( avg, spybot s&d, and adaware did not find anything) was that my browser was acting strange. When I do a Google search and click on one of the results, it will load a blank page saying 'done' in the bottom corner, then after 5 seconds or so it will then load the page i wanted.

For instance, I click on "hxxp://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-115088-using-web-browser-page-loads-but-screen-blank" search result and it puts this:

"hxxp://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&source=web&ct=res&cd=1&ved=0CAcQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fen.kioskea.net%2Fforum%2Faffich-115088-using-web-browser-page-loads-but-screen-blank&rct=j&q=browser+loads+blank+page+then+&ei=W6JzS6q_G8PgnAec2vmyCQ&usg=AFQjCNHiczGbtPYRraVBQ_7hGcgLE2f6LQ&as_acct=9dm612l7ldg&cr=s6ar6l7"

into the top bar and sits on the blank,'done' page for 5 or 10 secs then goes to the "hxxp://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-115088-using-web-browser-page-loads-but-screen-blank" page after.

It is driving me crazy. This is doing it in firefox 3.5.7 and also in ie 8.0.7600.16385 - (i rarely use ie)

A:Computer wont boot, wont boot in safe mode, wont load repair centre

Hello there,

It seems like you did not perform a clean installation of Windows and that's why your system is acting up.

Follow the steps below to install a new copy of Windows:

1. To format your hard disk during Windows 7 installation you will need to start or boot your computer using the Windows 7 installation disc or USB flash drive. Insert your Windows 7 disc in your CD/DVD drive. Please note: will need to restart or turn on your system with the disc in the drive.
2. After turning on your system with the CD in the drive go ahead and press any key when prompted during your computer post routine and then follow the instructions presented on screen. If you don’t see this go back to step 1 to setup your BIOS to boot from CD or USB flash drive depending on your installation media.
3. On the Install Windows page simply enter your preferences and click next.

4. Accept the Windows license agreement.

5. On the “Which type of installation do you want” page go ahead and choose the “Custom” option.

6. Select Drive options (advanced) on the “Where do you want to install Windows” page.

7.  Select the partition that you want to change, choose the formatting option you want to perform and then follow the instructions.
When allocating space choosing the default MB size for your drive is typically the best for most users since you want to take full advantage of all your disk... Read more

Any fans running, any post beeps? Your laptop does not have a CMOS battery. Try removing the chargeable battery and power adapter. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Plug in just the power adapter and try powering up the machine again.

I dont know if this is posted in the right area but I'm so desperate to get my laptop working its unreal.
First it started off with my laptop crashing, I had totally forgot it needed to do a windows update and turned off my laptop in hopes that it would work properly.
After that my laptop has not been working. The machine turns on and gives me two options. Start windows normally or do a repair. Upon starting windows normally, it loads so far before sending me back to the two options of start windows normally or repair. On the second time I clicked repair. My laptop then goes so far before presenting me with a blue screen that is usually the screen where my accounts are. The cursor still moves but it loads no further even after leaving it an hour. I decided to make a repair disk, hoping that the problem was because of windows. the disk loads, gives me a choice on the keyboard language then does nothing. I honestly have no idea what to do, I want to keep all the files safe on my computer as I havent backed them up and I have worked so hard on the projects. someone please help

A:windows 7 refuses to load and system repair wont load

Do a hardware/software reset with your BIOS:Shut down and turn off the computer.
Unplug the computer from the wall or surge protector (then remove the battery if it is a laptop).
"Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station, disconnect
cables to printers or devices such as external monitors, USB memory sticks or SD cards, headset or external speakers, mouse or auxiliary keyboard, turn off WIFI and Bluetooth wireless devices." (Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues HP Pavilion dv5000 Notebook PC series - HP Customer Care (United States - English))
Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This closes the circuit and ensures all
power from components is drained to clear the software connections between the BIOS
and hardware and clear any corruption in the temporary memory.
(If it is a laptop, plug the battery back into the laptop and then) Plug the computer back into the wall. Do not reconnect any unnecessary peripherals; monitor, keyboard,
and mouse should suffice and be the only peripherals reconnected.
Turn it on to reinitialize the software connections between the BIOS and hardware

After doing those steps, clear your CMOS by entering the BIOS (see your system manual for steps to enter the BIOS), going to the EXIT screen, and loading setup/optimized defaults.

I have problem with Muliple Broswer tabs (self) opening & pointing to microsoft.com "IE10 start here" pages and when using Outlook it goes to MSOFFICE.com "start here" pages when trying to type in Outlook emails. It is quite something to see over a hundred cascading windows trying to get you started with Welcome to Microsoft Internet Explorer 10... and another one is the go.microsoft.com

Same problem whether typing any characters in the search engine boxes on IE10 or google chrome. New tabs open "by themselves" and attempt/redirect to go to start MSN/Bing pages. They dont all load fully and new tabs open. Over 180 tabs "self-opened" last time in google chrome. I tried google chrome after having this happen in IE10 - so it seems to be a windows 8 issue. Maybe other programs are affected but ive only tried Outlook 2010 and Web Browsers...thats enough for now!

This is a new HP Desktop PC with factory fresh windows 8 Home premium and MSOffice Pro Plus 2010 install. Have changed all browsers to home page of google but IE10 or chrome if i make it the defalut browser and still self opens and tries to go to MS start pages.

I closed IE10 and/or chrome with task manager and created a dump file and also set windows error self reporting to auto (because it was set to manual by default) and it should be running self error reporting windows app like in previous Windoes versions but there is nio indication it is sending anything to MS. Any fix... Read more

A:40 or more IE10 tabs open after typing in Outlook or IE10

Yep...sure enough there was no other users out there with similar problem so must be something unique to equipment.

PC was set up with HP wired Keyboard and mouse...no issues after testing installation. New Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse was issued and after a while (few days) problem began to appear.

F1 key was sticking. Beat it up a bit and problem gone. Hold down the F1 key and same problems...multiple browser windows opening, help windows opening etc depending on application you are in. haha...stupid. To think... blamed windows 8 for this problem when it is only everything else that is wrong that is windows 8 fault.
