great free music streaming App works brilliantly on W8

Q: great free music streaming App works brilliantly on W8

Hi there
I use the Squeezebox system from Logitech for streaming music from my computer HDD's (network HDD's)and also Internet Radio

Now there's an app available FREE which enables you to do exactly the same from your computer -- so if you are on the road etc you can use the same Internet Radio / Music folders for playing on your PC without the server connecting to the remote devices

The interface looks EXACTLY like the Hardware controller when using the server at Home to remote devices -- so you can play all your favourites etc without having to go through hoops and loops to find everything again.
You need to install the Logitech media server (also free--I use their Internet Radio and a couple of squeezebox receivers - excellent system)

The software for running on a Stand alone PC is SOFTSQUEEZE and can be downloaded here
Squeezebox Software Beta Downloads - Version 7.7

Incidentally you can also sync this app with an Android phone so you can either have the music playing via your phone (Wifi needed) or you can use the Phone as a remote controller -- which is what I'm doing as I'm in a Hotel Bed listening to the radio via the computer -- and I can control the whole thing while in Bed (Lazy Bu---r) !!.

This is what it looks like after you've started the server

Hi There,
I have all my music uploaded onto OneDrive music folder.
Windows 8.1 Music app displays all my music on OneDrive for streaming. There's an option to download individual songs for local storage but that takes too long.. is there a way to download every single song through the Music app onto my Surface Pro 3 so that I have offline access to my music?
Thanks!

A:Force Music app to download all streaming music from OneDrive

Yes, you don't need any tools or apps, just go to OneDrive app or folder (in file explorer) right click on that > make it available offline! Now it'll start downloading everything in that folder + if you add anything to it from another device it'll be downloaded automatically

Hi there
I've found this absolutely brilliant (and plays FLAC too).

1) Download on your COMPUTER the FREE Logitech Media server - plays Music, Radio etc etc. Index of /LogitechMediaServer_v7.7.2. You don't need to own any Logitech devices to make download and use this.

2) if you want to play on your local machine as well download the FREE SQUEEZEPLAY application.

Softsqueeze 3.9b2.

Install on your computer and start the Media server -- the first time you need to set it to scan for your media directories.

Now on the phone

From Google play store

1) install the SQUEEZEBOX application -- this by itself can be used as a Remote controller for your SQUEEZEPLAY on the computer if you are playing on your computer.

2) Install the 3.25 GBP application SQUEEZEPLAY on your phone. --

Start up and with a decent set of headphones or plug your phone into a good Hi-Fi set up -- now you can play your entire collection away from your computer.

There are other ways of streaming Audio but this to me is one of the simplest to use that I've ever seen and it plays FLAC too -- assuming your phone has a decent DAC in it which can do this -- The Samsung phones do and I think HTC one's as well.

It's a MUCH cheaper way than some of the media servers hardware I've seen out there and does the job just fine.

Enjoy.

Hi, just wanted to pass on that Windows 10 works great on the W4 820; in fact it works better than Windows 8.1! I did have one issue with the upgrade. The wifi would sometimes stop working. So I downloaded the latest driver pack for windows 8.1, decompressed the file so I could just get to the wifi driver. I then deleted the default Win 10 driver and installed the Win 8.1. Driver. After doing that the wifi has worked without issue. Also after Win 10 loads the first time everything will be slow because there is no proper Intel HD graphics driver installed, but it is easy to get the correct driver installed by running Windows Update manually. Once the correct driver is installed proper hardware rendering will work. In my experience the interface works BETTER than on 8.1. To actually do the upgrade I downloaded the Windows 10 ISO image using the app here:https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO Remember, you need the 32 bit version of Win 10 home. I then used Rufus to convert the ISO to a USB:https://rufus.akeo.ie/ I then just ran the installer from within 8.1 and told it I wanted to keep all my apps and settings. One benefit of Win 10 is that it compresses system files that aren't often used. I performed a disk clean up before the upgrade, including system files, which resulted in 6.5 GB of free space. But after upgrading to Win 10 and again performing a system disk clean up, which included deleting the backed up Win... Read more

I have onbored Intel GMA X4500HD which intel claims has hardware acceleration for HD movie playback.
I could never get this to work properly with vista even with the power dvd HD codec installed?

I also tried all the dodgy codec packs available (which in my experience courses more harm than good) in my quest for low cpu usage during 1080p or just any HD playback in general really. And although my monitor isn't even a HD monitor it's still above standard definition & I just like to know things are working as there advertised I guess? Plus I plan to get a HD monitor when my finances permit me to?

I also had this problem with my old pc with an ati card installed aswell.

Anyways I installed windows 7 & hardware acceleration works right out of the box, literally. No codecs & no messing about it just works as advertised. The codecs are there already & work as they should do for once. My cpu usage is down from 30/70% to 0/20% max now. It was 70/100% without any codecs & 30/70 was the best I could get with vista.

With Windows 7 Microsoft has really hit the nail on the head for me, so to speak. Bootup times are so fast & so far I haven't had to install a single codec for once.

It's like a refined vista with all the same features plus a few more just for good measure.

A:Great, hardware HD acceleration works out of the box.

Well, glad to have you on the site. That certainly is one of the beauties of new operating systems. It's often much faster to get it setup and working again. And for those of us who tinker endlessly with our PC's...that can save us a lot of time.

I've been pretty darn happy with Windows 7 myself. No complains, ordered a copy of Vista 64 for my new build with a free upgrade to Win7. At present, I'm running Win 7 RC1 and have no plans to put Vista on this machine...just going to install Win7 and go from there.

I have had vista x64 running sweet on my rig for a couple of months now and have been very impessed with its performance. We dont hear too much good stuff about it Vista, so I,m putting up my hand to say I like it, and its working well for me, Give it a chance.

A:I reckon Vista works great

For me, everything have a first time. Vista runs well on my PC (except I had some little trouble on the Dreamscreen and the SP1) So far, the overall performence on daily working stuff (internet, gaming etc) goes well.

I don't know why people says a lot of bad things about it, but certainly, nothing is perfect. Even Mac sometimes have problems.

ok first i'll have to make a little note. i have just reformatted my hdd and installed xp home. I have just bought new parts. I have not connected my pc to the internet at all. Yesterday I got everything up and running great. It stayed on for more than 12 hours and I played doom 3 for a couple hours. Today when I started it up, I fooled around with some video settings in doom 3 and then my sound went wierd and cut off. then my system froze. i restarted and windows froze right when the desktop came up. I tried around 10 hours later and it started up and only lasted for around 5 min. Instead of turning it off I let it sit and moved the mouse. Nothing. later i looked at the screen and noticed the cursor had moved. It would move veeeeery slowly. so slow that it would jump from one end of the screen to another. then it would freeze again. then i could move the mouse again. its wierd and I have no idea what is causing my problem. I'm not sure if my hardware could be causing a problem. I bought a huge fan for my cpu and it works fine. I'm just really really stumped considering it worked for such a long time yesterday but not today. could it be my psu (400w)? video? help.

ath xp 2700
radeon9600 agp8x 256 (gigabyte)

A:xp works great yesterday but not today

I hope it's not possible to damage the video card with any settings within Doom3...I guess not, though.
If you haven't done anything else you might just have been lucky yesterday.
You should boot in Safe Mode and check if you have any of those slowness-problems there, too. If not, chances are high it's a driver issue.

The one program I was concerned about not working under Win7 x64 was Netlimiter. I've always hated the versions above 1.3 so on a whim I decided to ignore the "This software has known compatibility issues" warning and install it, after reading that 1.3 doesn't use device drivers like the newer versions.

I installed as Administrator into the Program Files (x86) folder. Before rebooting I ran it as Admin just to see if it would work. It did so I did a reboot and it's been running fine.
Seems to throttle fine, adjusting bandwidth on the fly works a treat as well.

The only tiny glitch I've come across so far is once when I tried adding more schedules to utorrent it was a little flaky.

I set up the rules and they worked. When I went to add more about an hour ago it didn't add the rule to the list no matter how many times I tried. However when I rebooted all the attempts showed up meaning that it was adding the schedules but not showing them in the list which is good in that it works but would be nice if it was consistent.

So far no BSOD or any major problems. Seeing as I rarely need to alter or add schedules once they're in place, it's occasional flakiness in that area is something I can live with.

The upside is Netlimiter 1.3 works on Windows 7 x64 !!

Thought I'd post this to let others know who like the program but aren't happy with the newer versions.

A:Netlimiter 1.3 Works Great windows 7 (64 bit)

UPDATE:
So after nearly a month of testing I have come across one major issue.
For some reason it seems to block Outlook connectivity to Exchange Servers only.
It did not effect POP3 at all. Outlook 2003,2007 and Outlook 2010 all gave the "Unable to connect to exchange server" which was strange given that connection to Exchange was fine on my XP Pro SP3 laptop sitting beside the Win7 (x64) machine (meaning my network was fine).

"The connection to the Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action."

I kept rolling back network related installs, first being ESET smart security, then netlimiter. Once netlimiter was gone Exchange connected. Reinstalled ESET smart security and Exchange is still okay so the culprit has been found.

If I didn't have to connect to my Exchange server for work then I'd still be using it.

There may be other things it inhibits but that was the only one I came across. Everything else worked perfectly. So unfortunately for my setup it had to go.

I've been having a problem with my laptop the last few days that I think is strange (or it could be very simple, I don't know).

So my 6 month old laptop just started becoming very unresponsive a couple of days ago: all windows becoming unresponsive, audio and video jumping around, simple applications like the start menu taking minutes to open after clicking. I thought nothing of it, switched off the computer and came back to it the next day. Only now, after I put my password in on startup, I was just getting a blank black screen. I could open task manager with ctrl-alt-del, but I couldn't actually do anything. So I took out the battery and switched it on and off over and over and each time I got a black screen on startup. THEN, when I did get it to work everything becomes unresponsive either immediately or within half an hour. But every now and then I switch it on and everything works fantastically!

It's not an internet thing, I have the problem on and off line. I downloaded the Windows Malicious Software Removal tool and did a scan and came up with no viruses. I did scans with Microsoft Security Essentials and SpyBot and found nothing either. It can't be a case of the memory being full or anything either coz there's hardly anything on it.

So in short, every time I switch on my laptop I get either a black screen or a frustratingly unresponsive system. But every so often it works great. Sorry if this post is in the wrong place. I'm not sure tha... Read more

Well I needed to do a bit of messing around with some old hardware and drivers today. So I did a system image using the W7 option in Backup and restore. As it turned out I ended up having to do a restore of the system image, not that I was expecting anything else. Put it my repair disk booted up selected the image restore options and off it went. It did take a bit of time around 2 hours but all is back to what it was before I started.

The only thing I did not like is the fact taking so long it is a bit hard to actually know if the operation is still running or not. It does have the progress bar but you really need to watch that to see if progress is being made at all

A little help here? Thanks... I have 30+ pc's. Just installed a new Netgear WNDR3300 router. After finally getting it configured correctly, the wireless works great. I put a jumper to one of the 2 Cisco 2950-24 switches and no connection for hard wired systems. I inherited this setup. The WAN is setup to work with the modem from the ISP and is good to go. As I said, I have a cat5 jumper to one switch and it has a jumper to the other switch. Is there a way to reset the swiches? Or should they be? I checked Cisco online and found nothing definitive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Did you try a crossover cable from the Netgear router to the Cisco 24-port 2900 series manage switch. I use to have one of these at work. I always use a crossover cable with it. On 3750 series we daisy chain them 24-port into 48-port.

Just had a disaster with Mini Tool partition wizard bug. Wrecked a partition.

That is wrong, plenty of free space ( it was trying to align the partition ) Another message popped saying it was a PW bug. Couldn't take a screenie of that as not able to select until okaying the bug message.

Checkdisk made a lot of corrections, but almost nothing left apart from the program files folder.

1) To see if Mini tool could redeem itself, I ran MT Data Recovery . ( Not free )

MiniTool Power Data Recovery - Personal License

It did a great job, finding several possible volumes, highlighting the most likely. Recovered just about everything with folder structure, and all working.

2) For comparison, I ran Recuva ( free). Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File and Disk Recovery - Free Download

Sadly, even with deep scan it only found a few useless bits on the least likely volume. Not finding the others at all.

3) Then I tried Puran (free ). Data Recovery - Recovery files from damaged media

Hadn't used it before. It found the same volumes as MT data recovery had, suggested the same most likely, and revealed the same files.

It was also able to recover with folder structure in full working order.

I did have to fiddle about a little at this point.

The default resulted in recovered files that were broken. Selecting the second option ( as in screenie ) worked perfectly.

Fantastic result for Puran

A:Data Recovery Puran works Great

Thanks for posting this. I'll download and give it a try. You might also like to take a look at Lazesoft's Recovery Suite as that's also worked well for me! I'm not saying that it does a better job - just that it's worth a try.

Hi all...have you guys experienced this? Even when turned all the way up, the video playback is great, but the audio is simply too low. Virtually every time. I installed some x64 codecs, but to no avail.

The same happens on my 2nd T60p which runs Vista Ultimate 32-bit. I use the VideoLAN player, which plays back almost anything, and I also am the proud owner of a license for PowerDVD Ultra, Deluxe version. No audio problems there. I have installed Service Pack 1 on both Ultimate x64, as well as x86, and the issue is the exactly the same.

Am I overlooking a small thing, such as not putting a checkmark in the right place? Is there some other kind of workaround?

Thanks all!

A:Media Center works great, but sound is usually LOW!?

I know this is prolly a dumb question but have you gone into control panel and made sure your speaker setup is correct (5.1 or 7.1 etc) and checked the volume levels? I know it sounds silly but I've seen it happen a hundred times.

Hi there
I'd accidentally deleted an entire Video library from a set of TWO disk drives defined as Spanned as a single 4TB GPT formatted drive.

I thought I'd had that -- but eSupport Undelete Plus worked an absolute miracle and was able to restore the entire library even though at delete time I got message "File to big to send to recycle bin -- delete permanently".

I was just in the process of going to arrange backups -- and was re-organising my Disks -- just shows you that an accidental delete can happen to ANYONE no matter how careful you usually are -- and it would have been a HUMUNGOUS pain to re-create this all over again. -- I'm running W8 x-64 enterprise (TechNet edition) BTW.

For example (it can show in Folders as well as files stuff available for restore) screenshot enc -- here's just one part of my video library --the entire 5 seasons of Stargate Atlantis.

Fortunately I hadn't touched anything an the drive after deleting the library so the ENTIRE library was re-coverable -- nearly 400 GB of Video !!!!!. and this was on 2 disks spanned and set as GPT.

Well worth EVERY EUROCENT / CENT / PENNY etc. -- Everone is going to delete some major library by accident at least ONCE at some time.

On restore it restored all the files to the original directories and sub directories so I just had to click the boxes for the files and the program did the rest -- brilliant piece of software.

A:Slow Internet - Works Great in Safe Mode

Typically...if the problem doesn't occur in safe mode, but does in normal...I would conclude that something that loads in normal mode is interfering with the connection.

That could be add-ons you have installed in your browser...malware...or such. I would start with disabling all browser add-ons that are not essential.

I can go to any website and click on a button or link and it goes to that site. Now if I go to my banks website I can enter my name and password and then click on the 'log on' button and it will take me to the next page. Then if I click on something it will indicate I clicked by the button (or option) showing that you clicked on it, but nothing will happen. The rotating internet globe or whatever you call it will do nothing. I ran chkdsk, restored all the settings to their default, ran Norton Anti-Virus and Ccleaner and nothing helps. I talked to the bank and they never heard of anyone having this problem. All research I have done by Googling brings up people that have no mouse click response on any page or so but not on one page. Here at work i have 10 pc's and one file server(contains company software). All pc's have access to both the internet and the file server. Everything has worked great until yesterday. One the pc's quit getting on the internet. Both firefox and ie can not find google. I was told by the user that the internet seemed to go on and off for a hour or so then nothing.

The weird thing is that via that computer i can still access all the files on the file server, run programs of the file server and ping all pc's on the network. But still no internet access on that computer only. All of the other computers have internet access and work just fine. I released and renew the ip, pinged the nic card, everything looks good. The only thing that was added to this particualr computer is firefox did an update yesterday but afterward everything workd fine?? Any suggestions??

A:Network works great! But one computer doesnt have internet

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Microsoft currently has it's best designer working on Windows 7 addons :-

Leaner Windows 7 Will Let You Add Features ? la Carte

It may be hard to believe that Microsoft is prepping a version of Windows without e-mail, calendar, and instant messaging apps. After all, some of those features have been bundled with Windows almost from the start; with Vista, the list got longer, including additions such as Windows Photo Gallery and Vista Parental Controls. But Microsoft officials say the plan for Windows 7 is to deliver a lean operating system that lets you add the features you like, choosing ? la carte from a suite of Windows Live Essentials programs you download.

Some applets are already available in beta form at download.live.com; more are expected to debut in mid-November. All have (or will have) hooks to free services such as online file storage, photo sharing, and collaboration tools.

Windows Live general manager Brian Hall says that stripping accessory programs from Windows will allow Microsoft to focus on the development of the operating system and streamline its support (service packs should be smaller-and possibly fewer-for a smaller OS). Hall adds that a "cleaner" operating system eliminates potential confusion for customers faced with two different programs that are similar in function-one already in Windows and the other from Windows Live.

When Windows 7 is available, Hall says, Microsoft will work with PC makers to place a desktop shortcut that will ... Read more

Hi--
I had a great spyware blocker, registry repair tool that totally fixed a bunch of problems. It fixed a problem with my system restore service not running, correctly dealt with registry issues, fixed my systtray and made sure my virus software was running. It was the best tool I had ever used. I can't remember the name. I thought I downloaded it from an ad on this sight, but I didn't apparently. It was a terrific tool. Can anyone help me with this?

Also, my systray icon for Norton 360 isn't showing up as a Phototag cd from a digital concepts camera infected me with trojan.maliframe!html and Norton 360 is too lame to fix it. After four hours on the phone speaking to five different people, I'm trying to get this repaired. Any help on this issue would be appreciated.

I can reciprocate on programming, UNIX admin and Oracle DBA and PL/SQL Oracle web application server issues.

I just never wanted to work on PCs because of alll this kind of stuff.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Guys,

Microsoft has taken a lot of heat with regards to OE 6 because in order to use their Spell Checker in Windows XP, you had to have Office 2000 or higher for it to work or mess around with registry settings. UNTIL NOW!

Here is a wonderful little spell checker that installs into all versions of OE without the need to have preinstalled Office software from Major Geeks:

I really like this free app. (but find the latest beta version works better in 7. There is a paid pro version that adds little that the free version doesn't have. The free version basically has everything most users would need. One thing I really like about it is by default it gives you more info about what is going on as a file copy or move operation is occurring.

"Copy your files faster and easier with TeraCopy
"Hive Five Winner for Best Alternative File Copier" TeraCopy is a compact program designed to copy and move files at the maximum possible speed, providing the user a lot of features:
Copy files faster. TeraCopy uses dynamically adjusted buffers to reduce seek times. Asynchronous copy speeds up file transfer between two physical hard drives.
Pause and resume file transfers. Pause copy process at any time to free up system resources and continue with a single click.
Error recovery. In case of copy error, TeraCopy will try several times and in the worse case just skips the file, not terminating the entire transfer.
Interactive file list. TeraCopy shows failed file transfers and lets you fix the problem and recopy only problem files.
Shell integration. TeraCopy can completely replace Explorer copy and move functions, allowing you work with files as usual (using the existing explorer context menu commands).
Full Unicode support.
Windows 7 x64 support."

Hello,
I have Windows 7 Professional 64bit. I got a new stick of 4GB DDR3 1333 memory. Whether I use it by itself or with another stick, the computer blue screens with random errors instantly when trying to boot Windows 7. A 2GB stick of the same speed from the same manufacturer works great in Windows 7. So you would think that the memory stick is bad. But I let it run a memtest86 test for over 8 hours, it made 6 passes and had no problems. Also passed a Windows Memory Diagnostic from the startup menu. I was able to boot into Ubuntu 64bit with no problems. It recognized the full 6GB and was passing a linux memtester test with no issues. So the memory seems to be good. Is there some setting that could cause Windows 7 64bit to crash with 4GB or more?

I should add that I can't boot into safe mode either. Random blue screens when the 4 colored dots are moving on the boot screen.

I purchased a Western Digital Caviar Blue 320gb IDE HDD. I the put it into an HP Pavilion 750n, 1.6ghz, 512mb, 32mb graphics card, DVD ROM, CD-R/W computer. Computer is in good working order except that it required a new HDD. The computer boots and displays the following message: "Primary drive fails". Now here's the funny part, first off it tests good with GWScan (which is just data lifeguard, essentially), windows XP not only sees the drive but happily formats and loads files to it (when the HP restarts it produces the error message and will not continue w/the 2nd half of the instalation). Any other computer is happy to accomodate the drive and this computer will gladly recieve any other hard drive besides this one leading me to believe that both the computer and the drive are actually quite functional.

Is there anything I can do? Or do I have to suck it up and get a more expensive drive or just use a 40gb I have lying around...I was thinking of a BIOS flash but before I do that I would like some confirmation that I'm thinking straight.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Hi. Since yesterday, My laptop suddenly started lagging a lot. I opened Task Manager and saw that the Disk Usage was at 100%! The only things causing it to rise are the essential Windows Programs. This causes so much lag though, that if I try to run more than 1 application at a time, nothing starts responding and it forces Me to Force Shutdown manually by holding the power button. I tried a new Browser (went from Firefox to Chrome) and still the same problem. I decided I want to upgrade to Windows 10, since I'm qualified to have it free, but whenever I try to install it, the "Checking for Updates" loading bar never finishes and if I try to close it or anything else, it'll freeze up all over again. Please help!

What should I do? I had to go into Safe Mode to be able to make an account here and type this up. I've already uninstalled some stuff, even though I barely have anything occupying a lot of space to begin with. I certainly didn't download anything malicious, as the day before it started lagging, it worked absolutely fine and haven't downloaded anything from then on.

Thank You!

Hey,

I use iMovie a lot and the video camera I film with isn't compatible with iMovie.

Right now the converter I use is Wondershare converter, but I don't recommend it. I only downloaded it (free) because I was in a situation where I needed it very soon, but it has a watermark at the top that I always have to crop out. Also it got bad reviews for making you register and then not giving you a code or something. If you ever download it, NEVER register. The video quality is also not the best but it works.

Any other, better, free video converters that work on mac?

A:Streaming Music

Can you minimize the quicktime window, so the music will play while you surf the net, or whatever else you want to do? Quicktime likes to take over, once it's used, as does Real Player, and others.

An excellent site for streaming music, you may want to check out, is http://www.pandora.com
It plays without opening one of your players. At Pandora, you're creating your own radio station, that plays only the kind of music you want to hear. First, you type in the name of a band, such as Spyro Gyra. Well, every few songs will be a Spyro Gyra song, but there will be lots of other music, in the same style, by groups you may have never heard of. It's a great way to find new music.

After a few songs, the music stops, and they ask 3-4 questions, to register you. They don't give out your email address. After registering, the music starts back, and doesn't stop, until you stop it. No.........I don't work for them. I just think it's a great site, and am passing along the good news. It's really a very good site!

If you like 60's and 70's music, another good site is http://www.wolfgangsvault.com/
Click on Vault Radio...........
Hope you enjoy one or both of them. Let us know what you think, if you give them a listen?

Hi;
I would like to stream my itunes songs from my computer to my stereo system.
I have an existing wireless network, and don't want to run audio cables around the room so I think I'm looking at a "box" that would be placed at the stereo and connected to the wireless router (which is at the stereo as well).

I currently have a regular PC doing this, but something is wrong with that PC, and before I go out and spend $$ on a new PC, I would like to look into a device made specifically for audio streaming over ethernet.

I have read about some that are available, but as I recall most of them got bad reviews on audio quality.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hi all.
The problem is as stated. I've had this monitor for awhile and it works great for video. But recently I plumbed in the USB plug (from the monitor to the case) in order to get protable usb memory sticks to work on the side ports on the monitor. It's supposed to be able to read them, but doesn't, and drivers don't seem to exist for this monitor. I'm using the HDMI connection for Video, the power plug is firmly seated. There is an open 12V DC connection open, but it is tagged with an "audio" label. Is there something I'm missing, does anyone else have this monitor where the usb's work. It's just tiring climbing under my desk everytime clients give me memory sticks, and there's already too much on my desk top.
Thanks for your help.

Well, here is my set-up. I have my modem which connected to a Netgear router, model WGR614 v6, which is connected to my pc and xbox 360.
Well i bought the router about 2 years ago for my laptop, but then my laptop gave out on me. So I have been using my router so that i can be on my Xbox and pc at the same time.
Well, yesterday I found a wireless adaptor in my grandma's house for the xbox 360 so i decided to see if it still worked since my cousions no longer need it. It connected fine to my wireless network.
Now today, everything went corrupt. Now if i connect my pc and 360 to my router, it does not work. But if I connect the pc straight to the modem, with no router, internet works fine. When I connect my router, it says that it has limited or no connectivity, what can this be? Did my wireless xbox 360 connection mess everything up?

Battery charges fully as normal yet the indicator stops at 80%. Unplugging and using the battery power the indicator stays at 80% for a long period of time until the battery gets below the 80% mark then the indicator functions as normal.
Restarting the tablet the indicator boots to show 100% yet doesn't change until battery power gets to 80%.
Any help on fixing this would be greatly appreciated.

After a long search and many downloads and trials, I have found an editing software that is easy, multifunctional, free, and so far with no hangs or bugs. I tried adobe product, gimp, ulead, canon, kodak, arcsoft, and som others. This one worked the best with the criteria of it being free and easy to use. Has almost all the features of expensive software, but is easier to use. Give it a try. Not a free trial, but free full version. www.photofiltre.com

Panda USB and AutoRun VaccineBy Pedro Bustamante The Microsoft Windows Operating Systems use the AUTORUN.INF file from removable drives in order to know which actions to perform when a new external storage device, such as a USB drive or CD/DVD, is inserted into the PC. The AUTORUN.INF file is a configuration file that is normally located in the root directory of removable media and contains, among other things, a reference to the icon that will be shown associated to the removable drive or volume, a description of its content and also the possibility to define a program which should be executed automatically when the unit is mounted. The problem is that this feature, widely critizised by the security community, is used by malware in order to spread by infecting as soon as a new drive is inserted in a computer. The malware achieves this by copying a malicious executable in the drive and modifying the AUTORUN.INF file so that Windows opens the malicious file silently as soon as the drive is mounted. The most recent examples of this are the W32/Sality, W32/Virutas and also the W32/Conficker worm which, in addition to spreading via a vulnerability and network shares, also spreads via USB drives.Due to the large amount of malware-related problems associated with Microsoft AutoRun we have created a free utility for our user community called Panda USB Vaccine.Computer VaccinationThe free Panda USB Vaccine allows users to vaccinate their PCs in order to disable AutoRun completely so ... I sometimes stream music to friends in europe and in the us.

I have been told that the location of the server i stream through is irrelevent.

That signals dont degrade or get broken up when sent across the internet, and that signals travel so fast that distance wont effect lag times.

This goes against what I thought would be common sense.

I often get the signal stopping or breaking up a bit, and want to minimise this as much as possible.

I would appreciate it if someone could explain this to me, or point me to a site that will.

Thanks.

So I upgraded to windows 8 today after using the enterprise evaluation for a while and I'm greeted with the most annoying problem, no streaming music(mainly for smart dj). I can play local music files just fine, but when I try to play anything that's not local(previews, music, etc) it just dies on me. It get the app crash screen and 0xc00d11cd (0x8004b82e) for the error message. So far I haven't found any fixes.

I've already:
reset tci/ip and winsock(suggested at some other place, knew it wouldn't work)
ran the apps diagnostics application
updated to current version
synced licenses
reinstalled

Any input guys? This is bugging the hell out of me.

A:XBox music app not streaming

for me, it was my graphics driver. all the streaming software in the Windows Store is very strict about DRM and HDCP. so if there's a break in the protection along the line, it messes up.

So I have the ATI HD4670 and the "latest" driver was the legacy 12.6 driver. This broke all streaming apps including Xbox Music. I kept all the Catalyst Suite except for the driver. For the driver, I used the default ATI driver that came with Windows.

I heard some people had a similar problem with Nvidia drivers and some driver revisions work better than others.

here's the thread that I talked about it the most. see if it helps:
app dumping me back to the start screen?

Also, what kind of monitor are you using (VGA, HDMI, DVI)? VGA are the least likely to be HDCP compliant. The graphics card and the monitor has to be compliant to have a protected path.

and here's another thread where Netflix failed to run on my VGA monitor but ran fine on my other monitors (which are true DVI-D cables, not DVI-I cables; I have a 3 monitor setup):

Hello,

I am having an issue when I stream music online-- the audio skips. I have this issue with Pandora and with AOL Online Music. There are times when it is not as bad, but most of the time it skips.

I have read many of the other threads on this subject and have followed all of the advice, without results:

My computer:

Dell Dimension DIM 2400
Pentuim (R) CPU 2.40GHz
2.39 GHz, 2.00 GB RAM

I have defragged my system; verified all the drivers are current; verified my audio card is current; verified my Flash is current; I've shut every other screen or application playing in the background; verified my IDP channels properties shows DMA rather than PIO; ran virus scans and Ad-Aware, all with no viruses.... and I still get the skipping....

I don't know what else I can check! Anyone have any other ideas??

Has anyone got this setup? I currently have a netgear dg834g router, and i was hoping to buy a wireless peripheral that would allow me to stream music wirelessly to my hi-fi.

Ive seen such devices in shops and online but most of them are controlled by a single remote, is there one out there that allows you to stream music by controlling it from my laptop for example.

i.e, as i select and play different tracks on the laptop, would they play on the "main" hi-fi?
Thanks in advance, all help much appreciated!

Hi Guys,

I have a win7 desktop upstairs with all of my media on it. I also have a winXP laptop that I would like to use as a media center running xbmc connected to my tv downstairs. I have set up a workgroup so my laptop can access the media stored on my desktop and everything works great when they are both hardwired to my router (Linksys E3000). However, as soon as I unplug my laptop from my router and switch to the wireless connection I can no longer ping my desktop or access the shared folder (internet still works fine on the laptop, it just cant see my desktop anymore). If I plug it back in to the router, everything works again.

I have checked a lot of forums but haven't found anyone who really seems to be having the exact same issue as me. This one seems to be the closest I can find however I tried most of the solutions mentioned there without any luck. I would love some fresh ideas if you have any, very close to just saying forget it and buying a new router (if that is even the issue but it's all I can think of).

The exact error message I get when I try to access the shared folder is "\\INFINITY\Media is not accessable. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not found."

Thanks for any help, laptop specs are below.

I am having trouble streaming music from my Vista PC to my Xbox 360. The following setup worked perfect on XP Media Center Edition but for some reason wont work on Vista.
I have Vista Ultimate, Wired NIC, Linksys WAG354G Router, Xbox 360 Wired.
I can use Media Center on the xbox and it shows all the artists/albums etc fine. The problem is when I click the Xbox Guide button, goto Select Music > Computer and it can connect to my computer but in the right hand pane where it should show artists and albums it says no Artist Found. If I press 'Y' (Play All Music on computer) I get error code 04-80070103.
I have looked about on xbox.com forums and M$ help pages but found nothing. Have any of you had this probelm or have any suggestions to fix it?

I've searched here and Google but haven't found the answer. I bought a bluetooth audio receiver to stream music to my stereo receiver and speakers. The device connected to the computer (Windows 8.1) perfectly. Appears as connected to the computer. But music played on the PC doesn't get to the stereo speakers. I can connect the device to my android phone and play music through the stereo speakers perfectly.

In Windows Volume Control, the BT device appears and is selected. When I try to play music through my receiver, I can hear music coming from my PC speakers (barely) but nothing through the stereo. What am I missing?

How are you connecting the device to the PC? Via the headphone jack? GREEN speaker jack on the rear? Since it works with a phone I assume its being connected via an analog audio jack?

Recently I decided to try and stream music live to the internet via Shoutcast, specifically to broadcast on Second Life. I downloaded the Shoutcast server and the Winamp plugin. I installed Win XP's IIS componants (I'm running Win XP 64 Pro.) I dropped my firewall and opened ports on my router. And, for about six hours, it worked perfectly. The music streamed to Second Life, no problem. Many other people were able to listen to it, everything seemed to work fine. However, the next day it simply stopped working.

Nothing had changed. My computer hadn't even been rebooted. And yet, now when I try to stream the music, the winamp plugin claims that it's connected, and the server seems to recognize this, but no sound comes through, nor does it acknowledge that anyone has connected to the stream. Worse, if I attempt to listen to it in Second Life, not only do I hear nothing, but subsequent to this I cannot stream any music from any URL in Second Life at all until I reboot that program.

I have tried streaming with Simplecast since then and gotten the exact same results. If I set my broadcast to 127.0.0.1 I can still stream (and even listen via SL) the music on my LAN, but no one outside the LAN can hear it (obviously.) This has coimpletely dumbounded me, not to mention the mind numbing fury I feel at watching something I managed to get working decide to simply stop working of its own accord. If anyone has any suggestions at all, I'm all ears.

I'm was on my computer, and clicked a pop-up that said it was Microsoft. I ended up with a virus, and was unable to get on the internet. A friend said he did a re-install of Windows 7, without removing any of the data from my computer. Since then, my computer has been unbelievably slow and makes a funny double click sound when I boot up. I like to stream music, while working on the computer of just to have it playing in the background. Typically it will just freeze up and stop playing, which as of late is within 5-10 minutes. After I leave the site and return to start the music, it will lock-up again and usually the third time it will kick me off the net. In addition it takes forever for pages to load. I have been searching the net for answers to this problem and have found nothing. I am at my wits end with this, so if anyone can help I will greatly appreciate it.

Hello everyone!

My problem is a strange one, but probably only to me. I can't get my computer to sleep/hibernate while streaming internet radio. It works fine if I tell my PC to manually sleep/hibernate, but it will not work with the time I set in the Power Management options.

Now, I thought it was working fine back when I was using Windows XP, but I just built my first PC about a week ago and this is driving me crazy. I made adjustments to the advanced power options, but that didn't help. I'm at work right now, so it's hard to list what I changed exactly. I just want to listen to streaming music while I go to sleep, but I dont need it to stay on all night long.

Here is a link to what I built the computer with if it is any help. https://home.comcast.net/~lo.ol/newegg.html

Welcome to the forum!

Your G40 has Intel integrated graphics which are not really Flash-friendly, and its CPU - be it a Celeron or a Pentium 4 - is severely outdated by today's standards.

Using a very light browser - such as Kmeleon - will somewhat improve the browsing/streaming experience.

Trying a "light" Linux distro instead of XP might or might not help, but I'd give it a shot.

Good luck.
