screen capture of Java windows

Q: screen capture of Java windows

Some Java applications open up brand new windows regardless of which browser is used to initiate them, whatever screen capture plugin or extension installed for the browser is not available to function for the Java window. It's even worse that some of them have scrolling screen, so simple screen capture program cannot grab the entire page. Does someone have suggestion for any program that can do the task?

Watching a video in Windows Media Player...I wanted to get a screen of a part of the video. So I press PrintScreen...and travel over the MSPaint. Hit paste..and lo and behold...the screen is there...except the video is still playing! LOL

I tried to pause the video..then save. But when I reopen, where the video should be it is black. Is there a way to make screen grabs of videos in WMP? Thanks

A:Windows Media Player: Screen Capture (black screen)?

I think this question has been kicked around before, I just don't remember what the answer was or how to query the search base here for it.

I'm going to move this to the All other Software forum, since it is really a Windows Media Player, not an XP question; I will edit the topic also.

Perhaps one of the denizens there will recall this one.

Here's one I remember: try IrfanView, it worked when I tested it.

As soon as I implemented Java 8 version 66 (Windows 10) my SAPGUI for Java App refused to display the SAPGUI Screen. The SAPOGUI for Java worked all the time prior to implementing Java 8 version 66. I have removed and redeployed Java 8 version 66 and SAPGUI

Ok, here's the situation;

I know how to use WINDOWS BUTTON + PrtScr to capture a screen image. However I would like to print/save an image where this won't work.

I'm trying to run an application I have downloaded (Samsung Allshare), but when I double click it my whole screen goes to a blank Windows screen with a single message box in the middle. This is a "User Account Control" message box. This is what I want to capture. However the "WINDOWS BUTTON + PrtScr" method doesn't seem work here (the only option here is to close this box and return to normal!), and because its an otherwise blank screen, I can't use Snipping Tool or other windows capture features.

Anyone have any ideas?

Try using Alt-Print Screen instead. alt-print screen will capture your current Window. Control-Print Screen will cap your whole screen. I don't know about using the Windows Key, I've always ever used alt or ctrl.

Hi I need to open 41 Internet Explorer (version 11 ) windows and then perform Screen Capture of each of them

I have a basic script/macro that brings the ?WinActive? by title, one by one, and save the image from the Clipboard as jpeg.

Currently my PC hardware is Intel I5 vPro, 8 Gb RAM, 250 SSD, Windows 7 Pro 64 bits

My problem is after 4 hours or so, the PC starting slowing down and my script abort, due to the decrease in the PC performance, when he is too slow to bring the next IE window as the Active windows

I have tied to clear my temp folder after each cycle, it help a little bit but It still crashed after X hours

Given that I want to a full refreshed of the 41 Web Pages within a 2 minutes threshold. I cannot Open and Close the Internet Explorer each time. So, I open my 41 pages in 41 tabs, and flip from one to the other with the script using the Title of the page. Then restart the process

Currently I have No paging in the Virtual Memory (8 Gb only of RAM). Do 16 Gb of RAM or more would help me or other settings that I should set specifically?

Hello All,
I am very disappointed with the quality of the print screen function that is native to Windows 10, and I am looking for a nice quality tool that can take some high resolution screen captures of my desktop and windows. In Linux I use a tool called Shutter which works perfectly and wonderfully. I am looking for something similar for Windows, and nothing to crazy expensive.

Thanks in advance,

In desktop mode of Windows 8 you can use the snipping tool (love that little guy) or Sent to One Note screen capture tool to grab a snapshot of any part of your computer screen. However, neither of these applications work in "Metro" mode. How can I snag a small screen capture in modern UI mode of Windows 8 on my PC? I know on my Surface I can take full screen captures using the Start Button+Volume Down key, but how about on a PC and how about something smaller than the entire screen?

A:How do you take a screen shot / capture of modern UI apps in Windows 8?

On a PC it is really easy to take a screen shot. Just press the "Prt Scr" button on your keyboard. Then open Paint (or any other image editing software) and press "Ctrl+V". The screen shot will get pasted into the app. And if you want something smaller than the entire screen then just select the portion you want and crop the image.

When pasting into a gmail "compose" a screenshot that I didn't take pasted, as if I took the screen shot and pasted it myself. I was trying to paste text I had just copied. It occured over and over for some time before retuning to normal paste. Most alarming is that the screenshot was of when KeePass was open and it was included in the screenshot although no passwords were visible. The two DDS files are attached.

I am doing documentation for my Help Desk at work, and it would be helpful to be able to do some screen captures.

I know that Ctrl+Print Screen will capture the whole screen and that Alt+Print Screen will capture the active most forward window. Here is my problem:

Many of the screens I wish to capture involve right clicking or displaying a menu-item. It is very, very difficult to do Ctrl+Print Screen or Alt+Print Screen while holding and clicking with a mouse (my Print Screen key on this keyboard is way over above my numeric pad and I have small hands). Does anyone know of any shortcuts or ways to do this that don't involve me needing three hands?

(Please don't recommend freeware or shareware programs for me to use. Such things are not permissible on the company PCs and require approval for download and installation. While I can get such approval, I'd rather not have to jump through those hoops if it isn't 100% necessary. Also, being a small business, most of the freeware/shareware licenses require commercial purchase for commercial use anyway.)

I don't get it TechGirl. Can't you get the menu, then when you have it, alt/printsceen? I'm not sure I understand your problem. Are you saying you have to hold a mouse button down? That's weird. Just display the menu with the mouse and turn loose of it, then alt/printscreen. Oops, shouldn't that be Ctrl/printscreen?

Screen capture software, such as what is built in with Windows of "snipping tool"....... what do you use and what do you like about it?

Free, opensource, paid, etc. Doesn't matter, explain why you like what you use.

Anyone aware of anything where you can CTRL + C and then CTRL + P into a Windows Explorer folder and it will create a PNG or JPG file and then you simply rename it?

A:Screen Capture - What do you use?

Windows + PrintScreen = full screen, Alt + PrintScreen = current window

Aside from that if I need something specific I'll just capture it all then crop it down after pasting it into Paint or Paint Shop Pro 7.04 'cause it's fast and I can do it in a few seconds start to finish. I know what the snipping tool is and I have honestly never used it, not once.

I can't imagine using a third party application just to do a screen capture when that functionality has been built-in for so long it's not even funny.

You can use the Snipping tool:

Open the Snipping Tool.

Click Cancel but, don?t close the tool.

Next open the menu you want to capture.

With that menu open press Ctrl and Print Screen .

Then use the snipping tool like you normally would and click and drag over the menu you want to capture.

The only freeware OCR that I know of is SimpleOCR, but you get what you pay for, it's not very good. One that is fairly cheap ($30) and much better is On Screen OCR. You can download a 21 day free trial if you want to try it out. One that is very good but costs $50 is ABBYY ScanTo Office. The prices go up from there.

Ever since I joined the HJT Training Program, I have been longing for a good screen capture program. Yes, I know I can use Shift+PrintScrn and paste it into paint, but when you make screenshots regularly, that is kind of a pain.

Another thing that would be nice would be video capture of the display, but in such a way that would be easy to dump on youtube.

The only program that I have found is FRAPS, which does much more than I need, and is $100, which I am not prepared to spend on a image capture program.

Oh, and I'm on Vista Ultimate 32Bit.

Ok, I've had it up to here with OBS.  It either doesn't record any video at all, only records a corner of the video, lags to hell and back any time there are any sudden movements in the game, or all of the above.

As far as the lag is concerned, I was told in a previous thread that my hard drive transfer speed might be the problem. But my hard drive can transfer up to 3.0GB/s! So that can't be the problem! Besides, I can record screen footage with camstudio no problem!

I want some screen capture software that meets the following criteria:

1. 100% totally free.
2. Records what happens on-screen. If the game automatically switches to full-screen, then that's what the software captures. If I can't see my taskbar or desktop, then I don't want the screen capture software recording it. No choppy framerate.
3. Records, frame-for-frame, exactly what I see on screen, at 60fps. If my character whip-pans, the screen capture shows a whip-pan.
4. It can record whatever I see on-screen, no matter what game or app I'm trying to capture. That's something that Shadowplay doesn't do.
5. Records mic and speakers ... together.
6. It's plug-and-play simple. All that bullcrap about sources and scenes ... why do I need any of that? All I want is to record what I see on-screen to a video file I can edit with VideoPad Video Editor. That's it. I don't need it to come with any extra features I'm not going to use. If I need any more features, I'll either get another app or I'll ... Read more

I am looking for a good screen capture program so I can record video of the desktop.

Unlike many people who need something like this I need specifics.

1. Must be able to capture a full 1920x1080 display at a decent frame rate preferably 60 fps.

2. Must also be able to capture video in the highest possible quality.

3. Must be able to record "what you hear".

I want to record some tutorials for photoshop and other adobe apps and some for video editing software like sony vegas. This calls for the highest quality I can get really because the vids will be offered in full HD. I need the audio for the obvious reasons.

So far I have tried fraps with monitor aero desktop enabled and a variety of different setting. While it does capture in awesome quality it does not do it with a good frame rate. I get the choppiest video you have ever seen. It also has issues with 2 displays enabled. I only want to capture one not both and I don't want to disable one to do so.

I also tried snagit 10. Also good quality but poor results. Much like fraps it is resulting in choppy video. It is able to capture one full display by clicking on that region before recording which is great if it would work right.

I know this machine has the horsepower to do this so it is not a matter of not having the brute strength. It could be a matter of me not knowing what settings to use though. I wouldn't rule out the possibility that I just don't know what I am doing since I never tried actively capturin... Read more

Double Post FTW! LOL actually being the self help kind of guy I am I managed to solve this before I got a reply. I wanted to share my solution in case anyone else sees this and needs the same thing I did.

Camtasia which I have used years ago back on version 5 has actually come a long long ways. I am not beyond giving any particular software multiple chances to impress me.

Going back to camtasia this is what I found. Within less time than it takes to instal the program you can also learn basically everything you need to know about it. In under 1 minute I was able to make a test recording and play it back with outstanding results.

I was impressed by the way the application was able to recognize my main display the one i want to record on that is. Select it and also place the recording controls exactly where I would have placed them in the bottom corner of the secondary display. Seriously they thought of everything you would need.

I was impressed by how easy it was to output my video exactly the way I want it and with so little effort I was unsure it would get everything right. It did and it did it in record time at that.

You really couldn't ask for more from a piece of software. It is that damned easy and fast to use. I am totally happy with this and I imagine others would be also.

My test recording was absolute quality and with perfect speed. No loss of quality full 1080 HD. The resulting file is light for full HD as well. You can also do ALL of your edits within the app... Read more

I am curious, Mac's have a feature I saw someone at work use where you can capture a screen shot by dragging out a square (I think they used Cmd+Shift+4 or something) and saving the image inside the square as a capture - Does Win7 have anything like that? Or is there an app I can download to allow me to do that?

You still have the PrtScreen keyboard command, and the new snipping tool on the W7 start menu, but if these aren't enough you'll need to obtain specific screen capture software such as Snag-it...

Hi Folks,

I'm seeking user recommendations for Video Screen Capture software.

I want to be able to cature on screen activity in video format.

I've looked at Debute, which is free but it froze my system and I've never had a freeze before ever!

I've looked at Camasta which is a bit too pricey. But would consider it depending on feedback.

Would like to hear from users who use Video Capture on a regular basis and their thoughts on the programs they use.

There's quite a few choices out there when I do a Google search.

Thanks

I use Hypercam2, free, but it does have its flaws, a lot of the screens i capture come up sort of pixely. fast download. (no frozen screens). i have been using hypercam2 for over a year. give it a shot.

Back in the days of Windows 95-to-98 I tried several screen capure apps.  I remember the
computer magazines alway rated Techsmith Snagit as the best.  I guess a lot of readers
liked this app, but it was a disaster for me.  Nothing worked right, it was a mess.
My favorite was Print Screen Deluxe until Windows XP came along.  When I dragged the
crosshairs to take a rectangular screenshot the results were not good.  The image captured
was always shifted left, right, up, or down.  It never captured the image inside the crosshairs!
Instead of contacting the author or posting about this problem I just stopped using Print
Screen.
I've got a couple of freeware screenshot apps that are ok, but they don't work perfectly all
the time.  Can someone recommend a good screen capture app, similar to the old Print Screen
Deluxe?

I've been getting good photo results snapping photos off my matte PC LCD screen using a Canon point-and-shoot camera set on macro. The colors are good and the results are clear but my friend tells me he uses capture to get photos off the screen. What exactly is that? Is it when you click "Save" and it is saved by the PC? I want to save it on an SD card so I can view it on my cameras' LCD screen without having to go to my PC. What exactly is "capture"? Thanks.

A:How to capture Screen Shots?

If you tap the "Print Screen" key on your keyboard, a screen capture of your entire desktop is copied to the Windows clipboard. If you hold down the "Alt" key and tap the "Print Screen" key, only the current active window will copy to the clipboard.

You can not paste directly from the clipboard to the SD card. You would first need to paste the clipboard contents into a suitable image editing program. You can then have the program save the file with the image anywhere you want.

EDIT: Certain programs may use an overlay method to display images and video on the desktop. These may show up as black boxes in the capture.

Often I will see a photo while searching the internet and want to save it. Lately I have been using an excellent program called MW-SNAP.

The problem is.... the screencapture of, lets say an image, is not quite as good as when I am viewing it on a webpage.

I have expierimented with various "save-as" settings and have always chosen the options for best quality and although the pictures aren't too bad... there is still some of what I call "banding". The colors appear somewhat like a gradient... and you can see the different shades of color in a graduated pattern.

Is there a way to save your screen-captures so they look just same as you see when viewing them on the web page without any "loss"?

Thanks in advance

Hi, I've been using photoscape, a free program that edits photos for years and using it for screen captures. Well, I noticed that every time I tried to do a screen capture with it since yesterday the program would disappear from view, not get the screen capture and only be showing in the processes. I assumed there was something specifically wrong with the program after several attempts and having to end the process, as it was frozen. So, I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. Same problem. So, trying to screen cap a frozen frame on a streaming video I downloaded another program, another free program, to do it called screencapturer. Same prolem. Program disappears from view, no capture takes place. Exactly the same. So, I downloaded a firefox browser application that is meant to take screen captures. This time it worked, except it only gets the non-video portion of the page. The box or window with the video only shows up blacked out. I'm used to that happening with certain screen capture programs not getting the image in a video box but my tried and true capturer for the same purpose, the Photoscape, what could be causing that and the other program to be incapable of getting a cap of a video all of a sudden? Thanks for any input. I'm not away of any change to my system since the last time I tried to use the program for this either.

Hi...I've trialled quite a few screen capture programs (free, cheap and very expensive...I'm looking at YOU Adobe!) to record powerpoint tutorials with narration. By far the best performing one I've found is Microsoft Labs Community Clips.

It's free, fairly small program, slightly heavy on memory but very easy to use and outputs instantly to WMV with pretty good sound recording as well. Only snag is that it doesn't display gradients in graphics too well...but on balance it's definitely the best I've found for free.

Hi all
I was just wondering if there was anyway of preventing people from capturing a screen image..

You can disable the mouse context menu (normally the right mouse click - or left if you've swapped the default mouse options) on an image to stop people from downloading it but I don't think you can prevent anybody from using the PRT SCR button or programs like snagit or the snipping tool to capture an image.

I'd like to do this since I want to issue some powerpoint lecture notes containing some pictures of propietary material which can be publicly viewed -- but I don't want these pics to be copied and possibly appear on other web sites.

Some type of internal "scambling" or encryption software would be great so that even if one did capture the screen via PRT SCR then on inserting the capture into another document it would just come out as garbled.

Any ideas anyone or is this just not possible.

(Of course the old fashioned way of actually taking a photo of the screen would always overcome any software scrambling / encryption or even using the screen capture on a Linux host machine running a Window Guest Virtual machine in "Windowed mode" - but I'm not worried about that type of attack - if people think of that type of "get around" then they are sophisticated enough to copy the documents anyway).

Cheers
jimbo

Hello all. First time poster here!
I have read other threads about screen capture issues. Either I'm missing the point or my problem has not been discussed in this forum. So hopefully I'm not duplicating efforts. If I am, I apologize. Limited IT experience and understanding.
First, I'm working with Microsoft XP Professional on a Dell.
I was working on a project and needed to obtain some screen captures of websites.
I started up the computer. Got to work. The frist two screen captures were taken and edited using MS Office Picture Manager without a hitch. Then I went to my thrid screen capture. Everything appeared to work fine until I got on the third screen capture. For some reason I could not bring up my screen capture. I pressed alt+print screen and then went to Pic Manager, selected "Edit" but the "paste" was not available.
I rebooted (always my first step in resolving issues) and I was able to get one screen capture into Pic. Manager and edit it. But nothing worked after that. I'm not sure where the issue is rooted. I remember using an application called DSUtilities when I used to work on Windows 2000 (I believe...) but I don't see that program anymore. Has it been phased out? Is there a step I'm missing here?
Any help would be appreciated. I hope I have provided enough information to garner some help. Thanks Tech Support Forum.

How does one get a printout with the list of folders and files when a particular directory is on a Windows XP screen?

In DOS, you could do a DIR command and direct the output to th printer. I'm looking for the same results without going to the c:\ prompt.

Maybe there's a keystroke that will do this??? Pushing "prt sc" doesn't work and neither does CTL-P. And there's no printer icon that can be chosen for the toolbar in order to print the screen.

So, how can I get an image or the information that's on the screen transferred to the printer???

A:printing screen or screen capture

Print Screen copies an image of whatever's showing on the monitor to the clipboard. After pressing the Print Screen button, open a picture editing program and paste the image the Print Screen placed on the clipboard. From there you should be able to print it out on a printer.

now if you see any (red or yellow) quotation marks , make a note of what they

now go to the (event veiwer) this is thru the (administrator tools) in the control panel
here you will find 3 to 4 subcatagories

you will want to check each of them for this is where windows keeps track of all errors
now you will want to make notes of the errors that have been recorded ( you do not have to make notes of double entries just of the dates of their happenings & how many there is)
you will get more information on the errors if you (right) click them / then select properties

then get back to us

Yes for many software we can always use rectangular selection to select and capture anywhere but this is very not convenient and the selection by hand and mouse is not nice.

Any such smart screen capture software?

you see in the following link

My wife has a counseling practice & uses specialized software to help her schedule and keep track of client billing. Most of the time, she just prints out a receipt for them after a session. Occasionally, she needs to e-mail clients receipts for her services & for their insurance needs.

This specialized software allows you to only print the receipts directly to your printer. There is no option or way to "save" the receipt to her PC (Word, PDF, etc.) so she can then attach it & e-mail it to clients. Therefore, if she needs to e-mail a receipt, she has to basically first print it out and then scan it back into the PC as a PDF file. She can then attach this PDF file to an e-mail and send it this way.

Is there any software out there that can somehow screen capture the receipt portion only on the computer and then save this as a certain file (Word, PDF, etc.). I thought about the screen capture feature within Windows XP, but this won't work as she doesn't need the whole screen to be included. Only the receipt part that is on the screen.

Basically, take a pop-up window (the receipt) and make it some sort of file (Word, PDF, etc.).
Any suggestions?

A:looking for specialized screen capture software

I think your scanner software should help. But to convert to PDF open up the new adobe reader when connected to the internet and use their PDF creator. should be on the menu bar somewhere or on a toolbar
