I have two text files with it which i didn't create but i want to create or if the files are exist somewhere in windows directories then just copy the files.
If not exist then make a bat(batch) file that will create/copy the files for me.

I just attached to this thread the two files the eventsys and eventapp so you can see how the files is format and what content there is inside. I want to make a bat file that will create this files automatic when i run the bat file or if the files exist already then a bat file that will copy the files automatic to another location.
BUT ! i cant find this files or similar files with this content any where on my hard disk.

A: How can i get windows events app and events system logs ?

What are you trying to accomplish? Can you identify some specific issue you are having that might be directly associated with these event logs? BTW, the logs you posted in your description appear to just be informational logs.

Guys,

Is there a way to get a full list of the possible events that can appear in the system event's log file?

I am working on a project through which I can get alerts on these errors, but I need to classify them.

Let me know what you can do.

Thanks.

I am using the program "Random Events Sound" to randomize my startup, shutdown, trash, etc. sounds. The program uses the windows list of sound events.

I want to ADD to that list to include the events of loading various programs.... like Internet Explorer for example. Can I do this?

There is an 'event' for "loading programs" but that seems the refer to ANY program, not specific ones.

Thanks

My small C# (.net 4.6) wpf application writes 100000 events to ETW (extremely fast !!).
If I start logman from my application to generate etl and reads etl from perfview, there is usually a few hundreds lost events.
However, if I let perfview start the logging by starting my application, none is lost (always).
What is perfview doing that my start of logman is not ?
My C# code:
Guid eventSourceGuid = MyEventSource.Log.Guid;
Process proc = new Process
{
    StartInfo = new ProcessStartInfo
    {
        FileName = "logman.exe",
        Arguments = [email protected]"create trace MyTrace -bs 1024 -nb 16 1024 -p {eventSourceGuid.ToString("B")} -o {myEtlFolder}\mytrace.etl",
        UseShellExecute = false,
        RedirectStandardError = true,
        RedirectStandardOutput = true,
        CreateNoWindow = true
    }
};
proc.Start();
Process.Start("logman", "start MyTrace");
...
Process.Start("logman", "stop MyTrace");
Process.Start("logman", "delete MyTrace");

I haven't been able to find a way to clear all event logs without saving. In Win 7 and vista (I only tested this in win 7) I like to occassionaly clear the administrator alerts without having to go in to each event log area to do so. Sometimes I just want
to wipe the all clean do a reboot and see what happens. There doesn't seem an easy way to clear out everything, so I wrote a simple batch file that does this. If there is another way, please let me know. It's a real simple script, just time consuming to write
it. I used a lot of copy/paste and a macro utility to insert the wevtutil command.

For more info on wevtutil, open a cmd prompt and type wevtutil /?
You can edit this script to save each event log too if you need to. Good luck editing each line though...

Otherwise, maybe others will find this useful. Simply copy and paste the text below in to a batch file (text file with extension bat) then right click and run as administrator to clean out all events in all event logs...

I upgraded recently from Vista to Windows 7 in-place.

Every other day, I wake up in the morning to find that my PC has rebooted.

Looking in the event logs for an explanation, I see that my system log doesn't show any new entries since the middle of June. For two months, my system hasn't recorded any new event logs. This obviously started happening while still running Vista.

Any ideas? TIA.

A:No new events in system log

Open event viewer, on the right hand side you will find the "Actions" column, click on properties > Make sure that the enable logging box is checked.

That should do it. Tell me if it doesn't.

First I experienced freezing, then Blue screen crushings and then failure to start. Somehow I managed to start through Safe mode but system was extremely slow. Long story short, I seem to have revived after chkdsk scan deleted a couple of files, replaced a batch of missing files and restored many corrupted sectors. sfc /scannow as usual did not find any integrity violation.

I ran winZip and MBAM and did not find malwares.

PC's performance is normal now...except for System Restore. SR does not have any restore points even after I created RP successfully, twice.

A:System Restore does not work after a series of crushing events

Pappi so I am assuming you ran chkdsk with the /f and possibly the /r switches? My other query is just how old is this machine please?
I am thinking along the lines that some hardware is the problem and in particular the hard drive or even the memory.

What is the available number space for user-defined events?

A:Available event id # space for user-defined system events

/id EventID : Specifies the event ID for the event. A valid ID is any number from 1 to 65535.
That answers the first question.

I guess the question now is does it matter what number I use or will using the same id as a pre-defined system event cause an issue?

My system: HP Pavilion HDX9300 Notebook PC; Intel Core 2 Extreme CPU X9000; 2.8 GHz; 4GB Ram; 64 bit OS; Vista Ultimate; SP1

Nothing seems to be working as well as it did 2 weeks ago: My system is sluggish, Firefox crashes frequently, Windows Defender crashed and when reopened the window was blank. It had run for 12 hours scanning my system and still was not through. When I accessed a streaming radio station this morning WD closed. When I reopened WD, the window was blank except for the top part which showed it was scanning again. None of the tabs in WD were working. I could not access the log to see if the previous scan was complete.

Scheduled events are not working. Windows Defender is set to run each day but it does not. I have to manually run it.

Norton Internet Security is set to run each day with a complete system scan. However, the only scans showing in the log are Quick scans. When Norton is scanning it shows complete system scan.

Bookmarking in Firefox is not working. Whether I use the star in the address bar or the Bookmarks menu, newly bookmarked pages are not showing in the list of bookmarked pages. Previously this worked as there are some bookmarked pages.

You have requested that logs of scans not be attached but copied into the body of my email to you. However, I'm running into your maximum word limitation. Not sure I should post my logs. I have logs of Hijack This, GMER and RSIT and can send upon request.

I hope I have provided the info you need... Read more

This one has been bugging me for sometime now.
In Administrative Tools of Windows 7 Home premium 32 bit.
There is Event Viewer. Within Event Viewer there is Custom Views, when that folder is clicked an Icon appears called Administrative Events, to which the middle pane shows a list of ERRORS.
Ok for the life of me I can not figure out how to clear or delete those error events from the log. I want to get rid of any error logs older than a week and some of these date back to December 2009.
I have checked every where within event viewer to clear, remove or delete these old entries.
What am I over looking here?

Thanks in advance for any help you people can provide.

A:Administrative Events-Windows 7

Custom Views -> Administrative Logs are combination of various logs combined together using a filter. Normally it contains Application, System, Security, and many more so that an administrator does not have to jump from one log to another log. It is just a filtered log view and not the actual log.- If you want to clear a log then select an individual log like Application and then right click on it, select Clear log. - You can also set the size limitation to smaller one like 1024 KB (which is 1MB) (by default it is 20MB). 1024 KB should be able to contain events of past 7 days or so. To set log size, right click on a log and select Properties and there you would see options.As soon as you limit the size, or clear the log, you would see the changes reflected in the filter (Custom Views -> Administrative Logs)You can identify a filter by a funnel like icon. The actual logs have a word pad like icon. You can also create your own filtered log views.

I am running Windows 7, and if I go to Control Panel/Sound/Sounds/Program Events, the "Exit Windows" item, on which up to recently I had a wav. file, now shows a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it, and nothing I do helps me to correct it. Does anyone know how I can repair that so I can once more apply a sound to it? Thanks for any help.

Super annoying bug (or user error?) where whenever I create an event in Windows calendar, after hitting save it moves it one day forward.

So for example, if I create an event for 01/12/2015, it will isntead show up on the 31/11/2015. If I edit the event, it will show the 31/11/2015 instead. If I change it back to 01/12/2015 and hit save, it goes back to 31/11/2015.

It does this with any date, these dates are just an example.

I changed the password to my Microsoft account a couple of days ago and now Facebook events won't sync to my Windows Phone, nor my Surface 2, nor in the online microsoft calendar application.

It shows old events but new ones doesn't pop up. I've tried various settings in the apps and in my Microsoft account settings online. I've tried removing the connection between my FB account and my MS account and reconnecting. I've tried removing the FB account from my phone and resyncronizing (couldn't find such an option on the Surface) but it changes nothing. Facebook events is enabled in the calendar settings on both devices and if I try to manually export my FB calendar to my microsoft calendar it tells me it cannot sync the same account twice.

So according to settings everything should work but nothing works at all!

How can I resolve this?

Thanks!

Is there a way to access website embedded Windows Media Events and Methods ? To do things like:

(1) Take an action when the piece is finished like launch another piece or bring up a website?

(2) Display images at the beginning, end and at selected places along the play of .wma? I know we can do this with .wmv (video) but we seem to pay a heck of an overhead in file size and audio quality to add even a small image.

I'm confused whether embedded Windows Media file events and methods are available, whether they work in I.E and FireFox and if Active X is required. Is this stuff documented officially anyplace?

The Sound Scheme for XP isnt working and the volume icon wont display in the tray even though I have it selected in Audio options...
The soundcard driver is installed and working..I can play MP3s etc on media player and AVIs and DVDs sound work perfectly
The scheme is selected to be used and the all the settings for the soundcard etc are correct,
I tried system restore but somehow it has been corrupted also and fails on all restore points...
This problem arose about the time i installed then uninstalled NIMO Codec Pack...
(During installation it said that it will replace system files that would cause instability if they were changed but I know that sometimes when upgrading codecs you may have to do this, the Video codec package side of it conflicted with DivX so i removed NIMO completley and re-nstalled the AUDIO driver side of the package but still to no avail...)
when i open the Sound Scheme the sounds are there but the 'Play' button is greyed out (as if the sound file isn't in its folder) but when i press browse the files are all in the media folder and play with WMP ???
Any suggestions ???

Hello and thank you in advance for any help.

I have been encountering an extreme amount of errors/events, system crashes/dumps recently. There are so many, that I would like to just post my event log but I'm not sure how to do that.

Things that I have done recently before all of the errors, that may or may not be related:

I began having problems with my printer, so I uninstalled it and then tried to reinstall with the USB (which always worked for me in the past) but my computer doesn't recognize it (yet it beeps when I plug it in).

Updated to newer version of Avast, Windows updates
I noticed a lot of Bonjour in the the event viewer, so I tried to uninstall but the Windows installer quits. After several reboots, Bonjour is no longer in the add/remove programs list. I also uninstalled all Apple programs.

A:Extreme amount of Windows errors/events, crashes

I would perform a system restore back to before the problem occurred.

Current Problem: System fails boot in Windows 7 following series of scans and tools ran.

Problems began after running Combofix

Prior to my running of Combofix the system was very slow, always high memory and cpu use (much due to only 2 gig memory and number of programs running).  I also had occasions where when writing email the characters would disappear after being typed in and continue to delete text.  Also the system was set up with the c: drive ssd as the operating system only, and additional partitions/drive as program and data drives.  Over the last several months those additional program and data drives would power down and sleep during use and have to wake up quite often. I thought was unusual behavior.

History of bleeping computer support from Trojans,Viruses.  (see postings) Have been referred to this area for help

Ran ComboFix then sought help from Bleeping

I ran combo fix before doing my research -  following which I could not open explorer, kaspersky, control panel etc.  I am using Chrome browser on Windows 7.  When the combofix ran it did indicate that it set a restore point.

At this point the computer currently was still booting fully fine into win 7 not just by using safe mode.  It connects to the internet, many programs run but cannot open some dialog windows such as explorer, control panel, kaspersky to name a few.

I check Reliability Monitor from time to time. I was taken aback today to find Windows Mail creating a critical event and appearing as 'Stopped working' each day for the past six days. There are five listings on day one, five on day two, two on day three, one on day four, two on day five and two on day six. 'Check for a solution' provides no solution. I do have to close and reopen Windows Mail on some occasions when it is stuck at 'Connecting'. The second attempt usually results in Windows Mail receiving mail. That, however, has been a situation that I have lived with for a long time and I am unaware that it caused a critical event in the past. Now, it seems, a critical event is created each time I open Windows Mail. That, I can monitor now I know it is happening but I wondered whether anyone can throw more light on this matter.
Please move this to 'Performance and Maintenance' if more appropriate.

Hi everyone,

I've been struggling with freezing issues on my computer for the better part of a year. I can't tell if it's a software or hardware related issue.

Processor: Intel i5-2500k (3.30GHz running at 4.30GHz)
RAM: 12GB 1600MHz
WD 2TB Drive as primary.

My Windows 8.1 desktop will freeze at random moments without a given notice. There doesn't seem to be any type of event that triggers it more than others and no way that I've noticed to predict when it could happen. I've gone as little as 10minutes running smoothly before it freezing to as long as 3 days before it decides to freeze. The freezes lock everything. All hardware stops responding. However, typically, I can still hear a bit of audio for a minute or so before that begins to hang as well, but if there was a media player, for example, the seek bar will stop moving.
I have a Logitech G510 keyboard with backlighting. When the computer freezes, if I turn off the light of my keyboard, it won't turn back on, just furthering the idea that the hardware is locked.

I've attached the logs as I've been asked to do.

I can't tell if it's hardware as I've changed GFX cards from an older Nvidia GTX260 to an AMD R7 260X. That seemed to have helped with some issues but not all. I recently did a fresh OS install hoping it would help but the problem has returned. I'm wondering if it's a pattern based on some of the applications and drivers that I've installed or if it's really a hardware issue. Maybe a failing harddrive, ram or e... Read more

Is there an option on Windows live calender that will allow me to color code events? If so, I can't find it.

A:How do I color code events on Windows Live Calender

As far as I can tell, it doesn't look like the functionality is there. Although, I have been seeing a lot of feedback about this very topic, so it might be something that is being worked on.

My Windows 8.1 computer generate a lot administrative events that are warnings and critical and errors and I want to remove all the events

A:Delete Administrative events in Windows 8.1 event viewer

I'm not sure if you just want to clear the log or that you want to fix the problems that are causing the events. See both below:In the Event Viewer there is a Clear button on the right each of the five headings when selected. This is how it can be automated if that's what you want:http://winaero.com/blog/how-to-clea...If you want to chase up the events then that is a very long winded job because each event has to be tackled separately. There is no overall way to tackle them. Mostly they are minor Windows bugs that can be ignored. The best approach is to only get involved with events when some problem comes along - looking for one that appeared at exactly the same time might give a clue to the issue. Windows 8.1 events automated Help is virtually non-existent. While looking at Event Viewer, if I send a file to Print, I can see various entries in the logs regarding spooling and cancelled jobs - all located in:
Microsoft->Windows->PrintSystems
But if I send a print job to an offline printer or if there is some other error, like the printer having no paper. I see no reference to an event in the Event Viewer, even though I receive a slide in notification in Windows 10.
Is there a different service that handles these?
It seems that something is catching those warnings or dialogs, but I just cant figure out which source is handling them? It's definitely not PrintSystems.
Is there an error logging attribute I am not checking regarding PrintSystems? I saw something of the kind in references to Windows 7 but for Windows 10 it seems it has been changed.
The reason is I am trying to create a task referencing these warnings and errors.

Hi Folks,

I have a few instances where it would be nice to get a sound to happen when a program starts or finishes or some other event happens in windows. While I am a programmer, I'm not a Windows programmer, so I only imagine setting up a sound event is nothing more than a series of registry edits, but I haven't really a clue what needs to be done. Sure seems like there should be a utility out there for something like this.

Call it a sound event wizard. I identify a .exe application that's installed on my computer, then I select what event associated with that application needs a sound (start, end, file access, etc.), provide whatever other necessary details, and then the wizard sets up the sound events in my current sound scheme.

Anyway, does anybody know of a utility like that?

Thanks,

After multiple Hibernation events: windows login fails to recognize correct password

After repeatedly hibernating the computer for about a week or 2, it will eventually refuse to recognize legitimate password and fail to login, yielding "did you forget your password" message.

IF I shut down the computer (thus losing all open windows) and reboot, the password works fine. I have repeatedly changed passwords, but this does not help.

Windows XP Hibernate feature has never worked properly and that is why Windows defaults with this feature off and hidden from newbies. I love the concept but have always found it to be buggy on every machine it has been on. Periodic shutdown and restart is needed to flush memory, but this is the first time I have seen this particular issue.

It seems to occur when Hibernation fails to stay off and the computer immediately re-awakens when hibernate shutdown is complete. In other words, unit will not stay in Hibernation but cycles back on, unless power cord is pulled. When power is returned, computer may immediately boot up.

This problem began on a newly assembled computer with fresh XP SP2 install. (AMD dual core 6000; 2GB RAM; Asus M2N-E motherboard). All updates done, including XP's problem with dealing with 1GB of RAM and more.

Internet usage is safe and clean on main sites only. I Use AVAST antivirus, Spybot, Ad-Aware. I used a SmitfraudFix as I thought I had an infection.

Gee, I am disapointed that no one was able to suggest something here. I did my part by helping others, so what's the prob?

Because this involves immediate rebooting of the computer(hardware?) AND a software issue of not recognizing password, I am leaning to CPU issue. I have seen some weird issues in past that were CPU. I do not have a tester CPU; I do have anothe MB and may try that.

I have configured a server with Windows Small Business Server 2003. I have set it up to run using a workgroup and not domain. Now periodically the server shutsdown on its own listing the above mentioned Event ID which indicate that ;

"this computer must be configured as a domain controller"

Microsoft's description states that this is the cause of the servers operating system integrated setup was not complete. This is the only server on the network and otherwise the network itself has been running fine outside of the periodic shutdowns.

My question is how can this be done now after the fact and what dtepsd must be taken?

Q: Events

can someone explain what are the system Events log for and how does one correct the events that are occuring.

A:Events

The event log is simply to record when something significant happens on your system, which can be anything from a crashed program or BSOD to booting the computer to a failed or successful login. It's a diagnostic tool so that when you have a problem you can find out some more information about what happened around that time. Talking about correcting the event depends upon what the event was; many (such as successful boots) don't need correcting.

If you have a particular and recurrent error feel free to ask about it specifically.

I've built my father a new PC for Christmas, it's all set up and works nicely - however he has a habit of carelessly installing apps/drivers/codecs and changing settings without any care or proper understanding of the implications.

The result usually ends up with a PC riddled with bloatware, spyware etc and takes an age to do anything.

Please can someone suggest some freeware I can install that monitors daily usage milestones, so I can read reports of what he's installed or changed, when he starts complaining that the computer is 'so slow and unstable'?

It's running XP Pro, and I'm aware there's a built in event viewer, but I find this very convoluted to navigate and find meaningful reports.

Curiosity has finally gotten the best of me. Whenever I check my firewall events log I often see a long list of "medium" rated blocked events similar to this:

Program: Generic Host
Protocol: UDP
Destination IP: 192.168.0.101
Direction: Incoming
Action Taken: Blocked
Source DNS: (typically) rs1.mdfrd.or.charter.com OR rs1.knwk.or.charter.com
Destination DNS: VAIO-PCVRS530G

The "Source DNS" is my ISP (Charter Communications) and of course the "Destination DNS" is my PC. Typically these types of events are **always** blocked by my firewall which is the current version of Zone Alarm.

Basically I'm just wondering what these events represent and should I consider adding them to my "trusted" zone?

Thanks,
-Mike

A:Blocked UDP Events

I would not worry about this. User Datagram Protocol (UDP) is not connection based like TCP/IP. It basically just provides. A lot of programs use UDP to pass generic data packets, or datagrams, from one computer to the other on a network.

This turned up in cookies to be deleted when I ran ccleaner a few days ago.

I found it odd since I don't accept cookies or 3rd party cookies in Firefox except the ones that I type in to be allowed. When I push the show cookies button in Firefox it does not appear there. I decided to block it anyway in Firefox and thought that worked but it still seems to pop up sometimes when I run ccleaner.

I've ran Spybot S&D,Superantispyware,Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Microsoft Security Essentials and get nothing.

I've done some searches on it and got nothing informative. I can't really tell if this thing is harmless or not.

Hey everyone! First time here. Went through quite a few posts but couldn't come across the exact issue I'm having and I hope someone can help.

SYS - Dell XPS 400, Windows XP pro, Logitech 3200 wireless K&M, Dell Surround Sound system.

Old Keyboard and Mouse (K&M) went inop. Logitech was awesome and they replaced both of them free of charge. Now the issue...(be easy on me - I'm just "OK" with this stuff) ;~')

After installing the new software for the K&M, all of my event sounds stopped working. Logitech has been great in trying to assist with this issue but to no resolution. I can play a video, play music and I can hear all of my games as well but none of my event sounds are working at all.

I did a clean uninstall/reinstall of the Logitech software twice, the last one being from their website via an email the tech sent me. Still nothing. Everything with the settings for my sounds appears to be okay and I've switched between the themes including back to the Window's default settings and still nothing.

When I try to play a .wav (or whatever) from the control panel (sounds and audio devices), I get a warning that says that it can't play the sound that my sound card may be in use. ????? However, if I access the same sound (actually any sound) via Windows Explorer, it will play fine.

Can anyone help?!

Greetings,

Help! My son somehow got hold of some work emails of mine that are confidential. Does anyone have any idea how he may have got hold of them? We don't want to "password" the computer 'cos the whole family uses it. We all clear temp internet files and clear the history of sites visited. but somehow ...! Help.

A:How To Locate A Log Of Events

Hi there mike.

Well, firstly, I'm going to assume that you're using a e-mail client. (Such as Mozilla Thunderbird, Netscape, something like that) as oppose to using the browser to view the e-mails.
I strongly discourage using a e-mail client without a password protection on it if it's a shared computer, because then it's quite easy for someone to access your e-mails, and the only way to check to see if they did is if the e-mail is newly recieved and you can see that it's been read or unread, although it's easy to tag them as read/unread without even reading them.

So my first suggestion in keeping your e-mails confidential is accessing them using the browser and checking to make sure that the password isn't saved. Otherwise, use the e-mail client only make sure that e-mails cannot be viewed without entering the password to their account.

I hope that helps,
nyiddle.

There are repeats of the above to error, every few days or so for the last year ! From the time I got the system till today.... found it odd seems like the event happens with too much frequency.

All my drivers are updated, including the BIOS.
The unit is very well cooled CPU @ 36.1* C Ave

SOOO...a friend of mine asked me if I could take a look at his computer. It recently stopped picking up his wireless network and also stopped asking for his financial software's password. I had him do a system restore, but another friend said it was a virus, and she had it before. Does this sound like anything you've heard of? Do I need to check his registry? Thanks.

A:Bizarre Series Of Events

First thing would be to run a full system scan with whatever anti-virus they're using.

Summary: cleaned a malware intrusion. Upon returning back to almost normal, noticed that the Windows Sound Events (Control Panel) were missing. A click on the system tray speaker yields a pc speaker beep.

For programs with their own sound associations (like AOL), they work fine. All windows related program event & sound associations are missing - do not appear in the list, however:

1) The windows .wav files exist in C:\WINNT\Media folder
2) In Control Panel Sounds & Audio Device Properties, the functionality works, but the .wav files do not appear.
3) Tried SnanNow utility to restore and did not work.
4) A website, www.nosystemsounds.com, advertises a program, K-Lite Codec Pack, which fixes PC's with lost sounds, videos, etc via registry key fixes. Sounded too good to be true, and did not work.

So, short of a reinstallation (Windows works great except for missing sound events), I am looking for help in resolving the sound issue, if possible.

I can not get a log saved in Events/Windows Logs/Applications.

Have run chkdsk/f from Administrator CMD prompt...chkdsk runs at reboot...but no log is created in Events Viewer as it always had been previously ?

Any ideas on why and/or where the reboot chkdsk/f logs are ?
jpg is after a reboot and running at startuup of chkdsk/f

A:Can not get a chkdsk log in Events Viewer

If the chkdsk is run on a reboot, as it would for a C drive, the results should be under a “wininit” listing in the source column, rather than under chkdsk.

Computer: Dell Dimension 9100, XP media center sp3 with all current updates, IE7
Unit has been experiencing multiple errors for several months, mostly due to the failure of McAfee Security Center to recognize an updated subscription. The McAfee issue has been solved, however...

1. Every time the computer is booted, there is an Application popup: (Event ID 26) Application popup: svchost.exe - Application Error : The instruction at "0x7c91b21a" referenced memory at "0x00000010". The memory could not be "written". Click on OK to terminate the program Click on CANCEL to debug the program
The message references no Process ID but the Task Manager Processes tab shows instances of svchost for System (PID 2548), Local Service (2512), System (1612), Local Service (1568), System (1412), Network Service (1384), System (1300), Network Service (1204), System (1080), System (596), and Local Service (264). Clicking the 'Cancel' button does not seem to result in another instance of svchost starting. If it is, in fact, debugging the problem, it seems to only apply to that session; the message reappears on the next reboot.

My events that I put on my Windows 8 calendar app from Dec 2014 and earlier are gone. Any ideas how to recover them?
Thanks

A:Lost all my Calendar Events.

Do they still exist if you look via your web browser on outlook.com?

As far as I know the calendar app (win 8 desktop and phone) only show so many months worth and ignore early entries
Mine are also missing for last year if I look in the calendar, but on outlook.com it shows them all

Hi Everyone

Does anyonew has an idea how to hook for touch events? something like lowlevelmousehook.... That i can catch touch event all over the screen AND disable them..

since i want to stop some of them fromhappening, i cannot just read from the HID...

I'm trying to add the touch part to my own magnifier app. The magnifier api, as supplied by microsoft, does not support the touch part, hence - if i touch the magnifier window (when it is in "lens" mode") in order to ... clock a button for example, the button will not click, instead, whatever is lying beneath there is clicked. So - i handled the mouse events by using lowlevelmousehook, but.. this does not apply for touch events. for example- it is not work on mspaint...

I trying to register my host window, and the magnifier window, and even its child window (that is created by microsoft api) to become touch windows, but they do not get the touch messages... Probably because they are transparent(but not for sure).. so i cannot really catch WM_TOUCH... and i really don't want to set a global windows hook for catching touch in all applications....

any advise anyone?

TIA
Noa

Hi, I have a fairly new Dell Inspiron laptop running Windows 8. I am having a very strange problem with random happenings occurring while I am typing. Sometimes for example while typing in Microsoft Word, my cursor will jump up 5 lines randomly. Sometimes when I am typing into notepad, notepad will minimize on its own. Sometimes i'll be writing in PuTTY and the configuration menu will randomly open. These are all examples and its very bizarre there is no pattern. I don't even know what to check for this. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

A:Random events issue

If you are using the laptop keyboard and have not disabled the touchpad you are probably inadvertently touching the touchpad with thumb or wrist.

Sigh.

First, once in a few days, my computer will start having the mouse become jumpy and the internet stop working... Most likely ad-ware so I do the typical clean from Ad-Ware, Spybot, etc., and hit it up with WinSock XP fix.

It worked I suppose but again it gets worst and now what I did before doesn't work. AVG and Sybase are both up to date.

Irritated, I decided to do a clean format and start all over. I reformat, re-install Windows, and still my Internet doesn't work. Now, I'm super annoyed. So, again I try to fix it and guess what? When I turn on my computer, it loads up to the loading screen and after that, it blanks. I tried doing safe mode in every aspect, it freezes as it is loading some of the files. Tried booting from the CD and then it's ok until it hits the blue screen where at the bottom, it says Setup is starting Windows...

And there I'm.

It's a bit hard for me as I need this comp to work. I'm at Davis away from home and need this for school. Any help is appreciated.

I have a form with an option group. One of the options is to “Return to Claims”. When this option is selected, I would like for a text box to pop up so that information can be entered into the text box. If this option is not chosen, then I would like for the text box to remain hidden.

I am aware that I will need to set up an event. However, I am not familiar with this. Can anyone help me with what I need to do and how to do it? I will especially need help writing the code.

Thanks.

I am being troubled by repeated occurrences of the Disconnect and Connected sounds.
I am trying to identify what is causing these and thought there might be a clue in the event logs.
Does anyone know if these events are logged and where which might give me a clue as to what is happening?

A:Disconnect and Connect events

These Admin events are likely to be logged in DeviceSetupManager via the Information level.

Right click on the Start button and select Event Viewer. View all instances of the Information events and look for a time when you know it has happened. You might get a clue from the references to any devices being connected/disconnected or serviced.

Hi all,

I'm a newbie here, although I have lurked a bit and tried some of the suggested fixes for my recent problems. Sorry if this is a long post but I try to give a full description.

The system:
DELL Vostro 1500 laptop with Vista Business SP2 + all updates; bought Nov 2007 with Vista installed. It has not been re-installed.
Avast free AV running in real time (Windows Defender turned off).
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware free version installed, kept up to date and used for weekly scans - not running in real time
PrivateFirewall
Browser: Firefox 3.6.14
The computer is regularly checked and cleaned using CCleaner
I have been running Soluto Beta (Soluto) since last June (without any problem as far as I know).

The problem:

In the last few days (I think it started Monday 28 Feb) my Vista system has started giving me BSOD events 2 or 3 times per day. The system freezes, I get the BSOD but not really enough time to read carefully what the info says.

Action taken so far:

* ChkDsk - no problems reported
* Memory check - no problems reported (twice)
* The C:\ drive had about 10% free space. I've cleared some old files, compressed some photos, generally cleaned up. Now it has 61GB free out of 136GB - and the BSOD still occurs.
* Swapped my Advent wireless mouse for a wired USB mouse (see below)
* Used CCleaner to clean up the Registry and release disk space
* Done a defrag using MyDefrag (MyDefrag v4.3.1)

The problem persists.

I am suspicious about:

* new stuff:

Hello,

I am on Windows 7 enterprise. I use a script to backup my external harddrive to a NAS. (\\NAShome\openshare) (in the script i use "robocopy)

I want to use the scheduler to run the script WHEN I POWER ON THE NAS.. This should be possible with trigger-event. I just can't figure out which one...

Do you know which event/trigger? Or do you know a site which explains the triggers in the scheduler?

?

A:Scheduler/trigger events

Did you ever find the answer to this question?

With a 64-bit Windows 8.1 Pro system I'm intermittently getting error events like:

The server {BF6C1E47-86EC-4194-9CE5-13C15DCB2001} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

Looking further into it the registry says that server is:

C:\Windows\System32\skydrive.exe

Of course, that's called OneDrive now and is so named in the Group Policy Editor so sometime back I enabled the "Prevent the usage of OneDrive for file storage" entry.

So why is the event log getting these errors still?

Should I have disabled a service as well as editting Group Policy?

More importantly, perhaps, do I even care about this - it seems Microsoft regularly logs "errors" that aren't errors anyway (*), so maybe this, too, is irrelevant to smooth running?

===========

(*) For example, Microsoft has an obscure sentence somewhere on their site (that's why it's obscure - I can't find it!) that says that "SFC" can find errors that AREN'T errors (the "utc" and "telemetry" errors mentioned elsewhere that cannot be fixed by SFC or DISM).
