How do I manually download updates for Windows 8.1 64 bit

Q: How do I manually download updates for Windows 8.1 64 bit

Hi I'm a university student having a bit of trouble, for a project I have to install Windows 8.1 64 bit on several machines including updates.

As you can imagine updating each machine individually can be extremely time consuming. I was wondering if there's a way to manually download all the latest windows update files and put them in the Windows 8.1 ISO, so that once Windows is installed on the machine it will be up to date.

sorry if I haven't explained myself correctly

I'm trying to download updates through Windows Update, it shows that I have 139 important updates, and 40 optional ones. I selected them and clicked the install button but it got stuck at "Downloading updates (0 kb total, 0% complete)". I cancelled and retried choosing only 24 important updates and the same happened. I tried the check for updates option but it also keeps checking forever.
I also tried downloading updates from Microsoft Download Center but when I try to install them it hangs on "searching for updates on this computer".
I already ran the Microsoft Fix It tool, disabled my anti-virus and firewall, but nothing works.
I cannot install the SURT because it also keeps searching for updates.

I need to update so I can upgrade to Windows 10 - the setup also got stuck while checking for updates, so I was hoping that updating beforehand would do the trick.

Any suggestions on how to fix this problem are appreciated.

I'm using Windows 7 x64 Ultimate SP1.

I want to manually check for updates, make Windows download them if there is any, but wouldn't install at that moment, instead make Windows install them next time I shut it down.

In Windows XP, it was easy. You just selected the option to download. And when you attempt to shut down Windows, it asked if you want to shut down normally, or you want to install updates while shutting down.

However, in Windows 7, I couldn't find a way to do this same behavior. Can you please tell me how to, if there is any way to do it?

A:How to: Manually, download updates but not install

Use this address to find the updates you want
in the right hand corner theres a search box, type in your windows version
then find the specific files you want\need
then save them wherever you want

Handy for reinstalls without having to download everything again
Stop Windows Update in services first
then run your updates
then START WU again and check for updates

Hi guys,

I've just put my Dell Studio back to factory settings after having it for two years and deciding to give it a rebirth. I maintain my laptop very well but always like to do a reset every so often.

The problem I'm having now is that the damn thing wont update from Windows Update. It will identify that there are 76 important or critical downloads, but hangs at 0% downloading.

I went to the MS catalogue and tried to download manually, but even though I had the updates selected in my basket, again, it just hung on 0%.

I've ran Kasperskys TDS, the Malicious Tool Removal MS thingy-ma-jig, ran an sfc check where it did note there were corrupt files but it couldn't fix them. The Fix It link to the MS Update Not Working thing found no problems either.

So, I'm scratching my head and going to do a restart and see what's going on.

Any help greatly appreciated as this is doing my nut in.

Cheers!

-Update

Interestingly, I've just reset and it's telling me the system had to be restarted to finish installing updates, but when you click on it for more info, there's no updates listed. Bloody liar.

A:Will not download Updates automatically or manually via MS Catalogue

Welcom to the forum
If you'r facing a problem in WU then use the tool provided by MS to resolve this problem:

Download: System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821) [February 2012] - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details

If after that the problem persist and you say that you reset every so often, then consider to dowload your same version of your OS from:

Good luck

As the title says, I have problems with Windows Update. I tried some fixes like: Reset_Reregister_Windows_Update_Components, Reset_Windows_Update_History, MicrosoftFixit50362 (which is a Microsoft Installer Fixer that couldn't install PowerShell), MicrosoftFixit50202. But what I really need is installing .NET Framework 4. I tried forcing it to install, installing it step by step, but it couldn't go further than .NET Framework 3.5. I need that Framework, the other updates don't really matter. And the interesting thing is that my antivirus doesn't say that Windows is not up-to-date, which is not normal, in ESET Smart Security, if Windows is not up-to-date.
If specs matter:

A:Windows Update stuck at Checking for Updates and can't install Updates manually

Hi antoniu200:

Many other Vista users have reported that Windows Update seems to get stuck at "Checking for updates..." for long periods of time, and this problem dates back to the August 2015 Patch Tuesday updates - see my screenshots in ScousaJAY's thread windows update just seems to hang while checking in the VistaForums. This month's December 2015 Patch Tuesday updates required a full hour on my machine before it finished the  "Checking for updates..." phase and finally presented a list of available updates, so you might want to try running a manual Windows Update and leaving your computer alone for an hour or so to see if it eventually runs to completion.

You might also want to read Nikilet's recent thread Updates were not configured correctly in that same forum.  Some Vista users, including myself, received an error message this month stating "Updates were not configured correctly. Reverting changes. Please do not turn off your computer" when they tried to install the December 2015 Patch Tuesday updates.  Six updates for the Vista OS and one cumulative update for IE9 were marked as "Failed" on my machine after Windows forced an automatic rollback and re-boot of my machine.  I re-ran Windows Update today and all Important updates that failed yesterday eventually installed successfully ("Checking for updates..." still took about one hour and I declined one Recommended update KB3112148 for Vista and one Optional update KB3106614 for Silver... I need to know how to manually remove a windows update.
I need to know if there is a log that will tell me which windows update was the latest.

I can modify the computers registry and change files as I please.

This question is not for those that have Windows Updates set to Automatically download and install...

When you are looking at a long list of Important Updates (this coming Tuesday clearly in mind) there are usually different types of update: Critical, Important, Moderate. There are also sub-program updates: IE, .NET, etc.
But also consider when you first install the OS, when there are 20 or 30 updates to catch up on.

Do you:
Install all the updates at once.
Install them in batches according to type.
Install them in batches according to date.
Install them in batches x at a time.
Install them one at a time.
Other.

A:How do you (manually) install Windows Updates?

i'm lazy, i generally do it all in one go. i suppose that's what the auto option would do.

seems to work ok, just a bit slow - i simply leave the computer downloading and installing and keep checking progresss every now and then.

There is a little-known way to block W10 Updates after they are downloaded, but before they are installed.

Windows Updates are downloaded. To be installed the user must reboot the system.

So you have the run wushowhide BEFORE your reboot your system to block those pesky cumulative updates that cannot be uninstalled using Windows Update or wusa.exe (command line Windows Update utility) or Safe Mode.

Use the wushowhide utility from Microsoft: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930

It might not block the installation of drivers, but you can always use it uninstall forced driver updates.

I used it to block the installation of KB3149135 cumulative update after a clean Windows install.

Hi i just bought a lenovo thinkpad t430 (this week) that came already with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit already installed and i'm having issues installing updates.

all the automatic updates would install but on reboot the install would fail (even with antivirus disabled and on safemode) reverting back to original settings.

i then went to do manual downloads and updates from the microsoft page. i managed to successfully install all of the "security update for windows" but all of the "update for windows 7 for x64 based systems" are the ones im having trouble with along with a few others.

on the manual download page for the KB2647753, KB2522422, etc (there are 10 of them total) i run into the validation required when i try to download. the actual download link for the windows activation tool (genuinecheck.exe) is "no longer supported. please download the newest version and ensure that your system clock is accurate".

i then went and manually downloaded MGAdiag.exe to run a manual diagnostic and this is what i get.

I have Windows 7 SP1. From 161108 my Windows Update cannot find any new updates, it just searches for days and days. There are many posts on this subject, but I have not been able to solve the problem.
1. Is there a simple way to download and install updates manually (not using Windows Update)?
2. Would it be a very bad idea to stop updating Windows 7 from now on?

Best regards
Sven Ingvar J?nsson

A:Downloading Windows Updates manually or stop updating

Hi:

Question #2:
Yes, it would be a VERY BAD idea to stop taking at least critical and important security updates from now on. MS now issues them all together in a monthly "roll-up", rather than individual updates. But there is a way to take only the "security" patches, instead of the combined security+performance patches.
Let's get your WU working first...

Question #1:
If WU is stuck on "checking for updates", you need to temporarily shut down that process/service in order to manually install the 2 most important patches that should fix it (3020369 and 3172605).

Let's try this:
IF NOT ALREADY DONE: Download and save, but do not run yet, the standalone installers for KB3020369 and KB3172605 for your architecture (32-bit or 64-bit).
Disconnect from the internet.
Disable the Windows Update service in both the applet itself ("never check for updates") AND from services.msc (change it to "manual" and STOP the service, then click "OK").
REBOOT
Run 3020369 and reboot.
Run 3172605 and reboot.
Go into services.msc and change WU back to "Automatic-delayed start" and start the service.
Reconnect to internet.
Change WU to "notify me, but let me choose".
Run a manual check for updates.
The concept is that you are going to install them from the standalone installers that you have downloaded locally to your computer, NOT via Windows Update.
So, if Windows Update is partially or fully enabled when yo... Read more

Hi all,

I use Linux and CUPS to provide free and stable networking printing shares for our community centre. Its easy to connection windows xp clients to the linux printer server, windows 7 is a pain, I have a work around, but would like to make it more streamlined.

I can get some older printers that do not have official windows 7 drivers working by using windows update during the driver selection phase of the printer set-up procedure. And selecting a slightly different printer from the list of available windows update drivers.

While this method works, there is a delay of between 5-10 minutes after clicking the windows update button before the list of drivers appears.

I would like to know if its possible to do any of the following 2 ideas:

1. manually access these driver files on Microsoft website somewhere, and download them for latter use.

2. Find where windows 7 saves the downloaded driver files and package them some how so they can be re-distributed.

As always your comments/suggestions are very welcome.

I don't think there is a way to do that I would recommend that you set up a domain and be the system administrator for all fo the Windows 7 pcs, so you can install all of the updates on all of the computers at the same time.

Automatic updates should be working.

Do you mean it won't update even though automatic updates is turned on, or that automatic updates are turned off and you would like them turned on.

I just found out that windows only downloads updates once a month, which caused quite a concern in a previous message in which I asked for help and maybe did not need it. Anyway, I found a few windows updates that did not install at an earlier time. I read about them and is it hard to install updates manually? I have very little skills in dos or any type of typing commands. I went into update history, dbl clicked on the ones that were cancelled (my fault) or failed. I found the areas to go and am waiting for a response to if they are hard to manually download and install. Also how do I find out if my computer is 32 or 64 bit, I am using
Windows 7 professional.

A:downloading updates manually

You can click start and then right click "Computer" and select properties. Scroll down and it will tell you the OS bit rate. If you have updates that may have failed have you tried the "check for updates" button to see if they're detected again?

Clean install 32 bit no longer updates even manually. I tried all those tips mentioned in other windows update threads and some of unofficial tweaks, nothing worked. I don't know if 64 bit of windows 7 clean install will be the same way-I am not going try that. I am not worried about the 32 bit not working because I have a 64 bit installed that is working which I did a clean install about a month or two. Then only thing I haven't tried is letting windows update do it automatically and use the registry key patch that prevents it from upgrading to windows 10. I might try this method another time.

I do a lot of Win 7 installs, and the update process on a fresh install is a bit painful.

So I downloaded all the current Win 7 updates (roughly 6GB) from the Windows Update Catalog and what I want to do is place them in the proper place (folder) so Windows Update will see them and install them.

Otherwise it looks like I have to install each one separately, which saves on bandwidth usage since there is nothing to download, but still takes a long time which of course partially defeats the purpose.

A:Manually installing updates - where to place files?

Hi red, in the future try this:
Slipstream Windows 7 SP1 into a Installation DVD or ISO File

I believe the default location for updates is:
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download

Not sure about them installing. I'll let someone else comment on that.

Greetings,

So in January I reinstalled Windows XP Windows automatic updates worked for a couple months but have not been working since April I believe. I have been manually downloading the updates and installing them myself. I recently tried using Microsoft Update and received the message that I needed to install KB892130 WGA before I can install the updates. I am unable to install KB892130 WGA using Microsoft Update.

I downloaded a copy of the WGA from MS tech net and can manually install it. I receive the "installation was sucessful" screen.

If I reboot and check again with MS update it still tells me I need to install KB892130 WGA?

Getting tired of manually installing updates every month.

Any ideas how to solve this?

Thanks for your help in advanced.

Sincerely,
Marc

A:Where To Download Windows Updates?

Not having updates installed wouldn't stop you from going to sites, Windows updates are usually for exploits that hackers can use. If you can't get to Microsoft, Google or Mozilla you may have had your hosts file edited by a virus. Update your Antivirus and run a scan. If it doesn't repair your hosts file then you could overwrite it with the MVPS HOSTS File. There are no official mirrors for windows update (apart from the ones the real site uses). However there is a site called WindizUpdate that offers a plugin for firefox that scans for security updates like your one above and installs requires security updates.Hope that helps! -edit- removed link...

I have Avira Antivir, Threatfire, MBAM, Comodo firewall, Superantispyware, Spybot, and Ad-aware. None of which picked up anything except for cookies. Is there anything else I can use/do to get rid of what I have?

Also, when searching for anything in yahoo, I get redirected to some wierd search engine and I have to hit the back button and try the search again mulitple times before getting to where I want to go.

A:Windows updates won't download

Manually registering files solves the problem

If you find that Windows Update refuses to install most patches, you can register its missing DLLs yourself. This can be accomplished by manually entering seven commands (shown in Step 2, below) at a command prompt. If you need to run the fix on multiple machines, it's easiest to use a batch file, as Steps 1 through 5 explain:

Step 1. Open Notepad (or any text editor).

Step 2. Copy and paste the following command lines into the Notepad window (the /s switch runs the commands silently, freeing you from having to press Enter after each line):

regsvr32 wuapi.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 atl.dll
regsvr32 wucltui.dll
regsvr32 wups.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng1.dll
regsvr32 wucltui.dll
regsvr32 wups.dll
regsvr32 wuweb.dll
regsvr32 wups2.dll
regsvr32 msxml.dll
regsvr32 msxml3.dll
regsvr32 msxml2.dll
regsvr32 qmgr.dll
regsvr32 qmgrprxy.dll

Step 3. Save the file to your desktop, using a .bat or .cmd extension.

Step 4. Double-click the icon of the .bat or .cmd file.

Step 5. A command window will open, run the commands, and then close.

The next time you visit the Windows Update site, you should not have any problem installing the latest patches.

It would be advisable to recheck your exceptions and tick allows by critical updates by microsoft.

I've been notified of new updates in the past few days, but they won't download. The window constantly says "Downloading xxx updates, 0% completed". Okay, I cut back the number. Same result. Then I tried just ONE update. Still the same: "Downloading 1 update, 0 KB, 0% completed", even after an hour.

I've run a full virus scan (Norton Internet Security), run Malwarebytes, but neither show any problems. I'm baffled. Any ideas?

One more thing...When I looked at Windows Update History, it showed a Windows 10 Upgrade that failed. I did NOT request an upgrade and had heard that Microsoft was now sneaking this in the back door. Could this be the problem?

A:Windows updates won't download

Hi,
Could be
I'd use Option 3 bat file download to reset the update services... for you,
Windows Update - Reset

Then see if KB3020369 is installed,
If it is see if KB3172605 is installed

If neither are installed do so manually,
When manually installing updates you need to switch your update settings to Never check for updates and restart the machine first.

KB3020369
Win-7 32 bit
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down....aspx?id=46827
Win-7 64 bit
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down....aspx?id=46817

KB3172605
Win-7 32 bit,
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down....aspx?id=53335
Win-7 64 bit,
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down....aspx?id=53332

After switch your windows update settings back to what you had prior and manually check for updates and the rest should show up shortly.

If the download links fail you can get these updates from my OneDrive instead
I have them inside separate .zip folders because Micro... has been playing cat and mouse with the download availabilities
Just download to your downloads folder
Then right click the zip folder and use Extract all
Then run them one at a time KB3020369 first.

Good morning,

The Windows Update today lists 17 available updates (1-Office 2010, 11-Windows 7, 5-Office 2007).  However, when I select one or several of the updates to be downloaded and click OK in the bottom right to download and install the update(s), the download page does not come up - it reverts directly back to Windows Update home.

My setting for updates has always been "let me choose whether to download and install them".  I notice they no longer have the pre-checked W10 in the optional update listing.  Two snips attached.  I have restarted also.

Any suggestions on how to get the updates downloaded and installed - what might be going on?

Thank you.

Hi,

I'm not sure if the title makes any sense, but I'm trying to find out if its possible to save the Windows 7 updates to a USB drive.

The idea being that if I choose to do a fresh installation (from a bootable USB), then I could also run the updates using the Windows updates saved into a different folder on the same USB, instead of goin online for that.

Can it be done?

Because I can't get the updates automatically, I went to the Microsoft site and tried to download them manually. What happened is the applet kept looking for updates and eventually timed out in about 10 minutes. The error messase was that Windows encountered a problem.

It appears that there's a file missing or corrupted; I'm just not sure how to fix it.or what it is.

Please run a full CHKDSK and SFC scan....

Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.

At the Command prompt, type

CHKDSK C: /R

and hit the Enter key.
You will be told that the drive is locked,
and the CHKDSK will run at he next boot - hit the Y key, and then reboot.

The CHKDSK will take a few hours depending on the size of the drive, so be patient!

After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally (possibly after a second auto-reboot) -
then run the SFC.

SFC -System File Checker - Instructions
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.

At the Command prompt, type

SFC /SCANNOW

and hit the Enter key

Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.

I am having several problems with Vista, on an Acer Aspire 5100. First, when I turn it on, I receive a message "ATI External Event Utility EXE Module has stopped working" I have reinstalled all of my ATI drivers, still nothing, and cant I find any working solutions anywhere online.

The other problem is that I cant download any updates through Windows Update, with an error code "80246008". This points to a problem with the BITS service. This service refuses to start, with an error message "1068". All of its dependencies are working though, except COM+ Event System, which, when I force it to start, it stops again, saying it isn't needed. I have checked several Knowledge Base articles on this, and according to them, BITS should be working, I cant find a reason for it not to. All of these services I have set to automatically start, and restarted my computer, but they still don't start, or stay running.

I am posting these two problems in the same thread because they started at the same time, for apparently no reason. I think they are connected, but don't know how.

Any help is appreciated.

I have 13 windows updates that fail everytime I try to download them, I dont know if this is related but I also cant install any applications that I download. The error I get says code 641, code 80070641 and code 8004ff01. I also cannot open Windows Live Movie Maker but can open Windows Movie Maker (if that clarifies the problem at all).

I have Windows Vista Home Premium, use System Mechanic and Microsoft Security Essentials. I know nothing else about my operating system or how to post my log files etc. If you need me to post or tell you anything about my operating system, please tell me how to do it because I have no idea how to!

Thanks in advance for your help.

A:Windows Updates Wont Download

Stop using System Mechanic and try to restore whatever files it has removed. If that isn't possible try to use System Restore (Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools) to go back to before it all went haywire.

I run with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I download updates manually. This morning I have 12 important downloads so ticked the boxes and clicked on download. It says Downloading updates but it just sits there - Downloading 12 updates (0 KB total, 0% complete).
Advice to overcome this problem would be appreciated.

A:Windows 7 Updates refuse to download

This morning .....................but it just sits there - Downloading 12 updates (0 KB total, 0% complete).

That seems to be normal behaviour for Windows 7 updates nowadays. The good news is that if you leave it long enough then the updates will almost certainly eventually install. It could be as long as 24 hours. You may find it suddenly changes from "0% complete" to "installing updates".
Don't worry for now and just leave it running.

I'm with a computer service company and we do format/re-installs on a regular basis.  Part of that process, as you know, is installing 100+ Windows updates for Windows 7 machines.
Isn't there a way I can download a "pack" of ALL of the updates so I can keep them on a Flash Drive and install them WITH EASE instead of having to manually download and install all 100+ updates for each and every computer?  Updates have
been taking up SEVERAL HOURS lately for all of the machines we do a format/re-install on.
There has to be a better, faster way.

A:Windows Updates Download But Do Not Install

Hello All

I have a problem here, today I carried out an XP repair, went back to the Windows Update site where there are now 89 updates waiting. All the updates download OK but, ALL FAIL TO INSTALL.

Where do the little so and so's hide on my PC and, if I am able to locate them would I be able to install them?, or is there some other explanation for this annoying problem?

I have formatted my old Equium L30 laptop to factory settings (XP Home) with Toshiba provided recovery cd. After this, my internet connection is not working properly.

I can browse normally (Explorer, Chrome) but the computer is not downloading any Windows updates or other updates, for example antivirus program updates.

I have also updated both LAN and WLAN drivers from Toshiba site and from manufacturer site (Atheros and Realtek).
Also, I have manually updated Windows to SP3 as well as BIOS (from Toshiba site).

When I look both WLAN and LAN connection status, the only "package" that is moving is when I browse the internet with browser.

So, help is needed, thanks! :)

I have tried lots of time to download windows updates, when I go to the updates page all I get is:

Checking for the latest version of the Windows Update software...

Depending on your connection speed, this might take a minute. During this time, you may receive one or more security warnings. Review each security warning to ensure that the content is signed by Microsoft, and then click Install or Yes to install the software.

and that is where it stops. It will not go any further. Page says 'done'. I have let is sit for hours and still nothing.

When I go to Control Panel and click on 'Windows Firewall' the message I get is: Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display Windows Firewall settings.

I am not sure if this is part of the problem or not.
I have recently done a Compaq System Recovery, but not a destructive recovery, just to restore the original files that were loaded when machine was new. Since then I have not been able to download windows updates. Everything else seems to work fine. If anyone has any answers I would be very grateful.

My computer is Compaq Presario P8654T S3000T (OEM) running window XP, 2.40 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4, 512 kilobyte memory, on a cable modem.

My Dell Inspiron 620 (about 4-5 years old) is running unbelievably slowly, especially when browsing (and playing Farmville). I have tried everything, and am trying to download Windows updates (which I realised I hadn't done for about a year) but am unable to download them. I am constantly on 0% downloaded. I have left the PC running for several hours and tried just downloading one update to no avail. Among the error codes I get is WindowsUpdate_80070005. I have Googled and one suggestion is that I am not running as an Administrator. I have had this problem with other things, however, I am the only one who uses this PC and I have never set an administrator up. Any help greatly appreciated as I don't want to break the credit card buying a new PC to find my Internet speed is part of the problem - I want to try everything I can with my current PC first. It is an i5 2300 CPU @ 2.80 Ghz with 6GB RAM and a 64 bit system. It is running Windows 7 Service Pack 1.

Hi all! Does anyone know what to do if I do NOT want to download Internet Explorer 8?

The thing is I did downloaded it last week and right after that I started having problems. First of, IE8 is a little faster than previous version but still much slower than Firefox. Plus, I started having problems with online videos, even in other browsers - Adobe Flash didn't work properly, so I couldn't see video on YouTube, nor play Yahoo games that require Flash, e.g. Yahoo Sudoku daily, in all browsers - IE8, Firefox, Google Chrome...

There was finally a note on top of Yahoo games screen - something like "Internet Explorer 8 is not compatible with Adobe Flash..." So, I reversed the download of IE8 and returned to IExplorer 7, after which everything started working properly again (although in addition I had to install an un-installer for Flash, delete Quick, re-install Flash from Adobe again, it took at least 4-5 attempts to get everything right - see link for dealing with YouTube video/Adobe Flash problem below).

But - in today's Windows updates Microsoft sent me 1 important update - Internet Explorer 8 for Windows Vista. Again. And this update keeps jumping up to my face and wants to be installed but I don't want it!

Does anybody know if there is a way to avoid installing an important Windows update? I didn't find such option. Any help is much appreciated!

A:Solved: What to do to NOT download IE8 from Windows updates?

When you say no to the update, you'll have an option for Windows Update to remember your choice and not bother you again with this critical update.

Hello,

I just got a new Windows 7 Pro Dell Inspiron laptop. I was trying to download and install all the Windows Update available, but the download stuck at 0% for a long time and will not proceed any further. I have run the Windows Update FixIt tool, run the WindowsUpdateDiagnostic tool, nothing help.

I got this error: "windows update service registration is missing or corrupt" when I ran the Diagnostic.

I have tried several other "solutions" and still no help. And I have temporarily disable my anti-virus programs as well, no help.

Any comments/suggestions are much appreciated.

After windows 10 free update ended I suddenly got notification of about 40 updates I need to install. Tried to download all of them and it progress just stayed at 0% for over and hour. Tried to download just one small update and still nothing. Also CPU usually idles at around 1%-4% and it now doesn't go below 24% and maxes out at 100% when using Photoshop which had never happened before. For some reason recently when I right click on a program and choose "open as admin" it lets me sign in but then nothing happens. While running the scans I was able to run them with out using admin account. Even if I clicked on "open as admin" it wouldn't ask for password. Maybe it was because I disabled UAC?

I ran all the scans except for TDSSKiller because I kept getting warnings/errors and wouldn't start. I screen shots of errors below.

I have been in touch with tech support at microsoft for a month. I have renamed folders for AU, mannually stopped and started the updates with the cmd promt. I finally did a repair with the windows xp-home cd. I have run ad-aware, spybot, ViRobot,Registry Mechanic, and Spysweeper. My pc still freezes up and will not download from that web site. Sometimes other screens freeze up at random times. I do not want to have to start all over. Any ideas? Sometimes when I log off I get a message that flickers on -KpugMU failed to intitiate due to windows shutting down. I have had the computer freeze up after the log off button and it would not let me turn the computer off.

Think you have install automatic which both dedetcts (which can take up to hours) and installs .. you will find if you restart computer there will be 100 patches waiting.if your just looking to upgrade to Win 10, you can shortcut by using the windows win10 upgrade tool.I would recommend you to 'reset' the windows 10 install after upgrade as I have never seen a win7 upgrade without some issues. After refresh everything is fine.if your just looking for something to happen, set 'do not install automatic' setting on your windows pdate.

Recently, when trying to download Windows Updates for important updates, the progress stays at 0KB, 0% complete and doesn't go any further. Tried downloading for several hours and still with no luck. (Currently have 7 important updates available at 28.1MB)

I've checked Windows Update history and Windows Defender definition updates are being automatically downloaded/installed with seemingly no issue.

Ok, so here we go. I recently had an issue where my sound went out on the computer and i recieve a message saying "no audio output device installed" or something like that. After trying to fix it for weeks, i have come to the conclusion that the sound chip or whatever is destroyed.

~REASON FOR POST~ (windows vista home premium, 32 bit)

After a reset to factory default, i procedded to run the windows update. The first few updates went smoothly (roughly 80 over a 3 day period). Recently i recieved a notice that 4 updates were ready to be installed (security update for microsoft office 2007 KB951550, security update for microsoft office 2007 KB951994, the 2007 microsoft office suite service pack 2, and update for the 2007 microsoft office system KB967642). Everytime i try to install these updates they fail, and i am not recieving any new updates from microsoft. Also when i go to log out (please bare with me on this description) the button that looks like a circle with a line through it (log out button im assuming) has the icon signaling to log off and install updates. When i try this the computer logs down, begins installing updates, but it fails because when i log back in the icon is still signaling me to log out and install.

I have tried to use microsoft fix it and i recieve this error: Fix it troubleshooting cannot continue because an error occured, we're sorry, but the diagnostic solution encountered a runtime error. please try again later.
