How to enable auto-turn-off screen in lock screen

Q: How to enable auto-turn-off screen in lock screen

I can enable auto turn off screen after period of time in control panel. But i found in lock screen, the monitor won't turn off automatically even if the time period is expired. Is there any way to solve this?

A: How to enable auto-turn-off screen in lock screen

If you haven't, try setting the screen saver (can use blank) and set it to the same time as the monitor time out.

I did an upgrade from Win 7 , and Screen Saver / Turn off display after 5 mins was working under Win 7 64 bit
As my title suggest Screen Saver / Lock screen Slideshow / Turn off display after 5 mins are not working under Win 10
The Lock screen Slideshow is there when Win 10 starts but only shows ONE image, never moves to another.
THINGS I've done so far to get any of these working ...Screen Saver / Lock screen Slideshow / Turn off display after 5 mins
I’ve turned off all the Wake on lan functions
Tried different folder/ images for the lockscreen Slideshow ,window spotlight and picture
Tried to set new power options , was able to get SLEEP to show up in "Start" as it was not there before, but once click , the display DID turn off, but wouldn’t turn back on with mouse movement keyboard presses, had to do a hard reboot. Win 10 started without issue and the SLEEP mode was no longer aviable via the power "start" menu.
Anyone have a clue how to get all of these working. Really would like my display to turn off after 5 mins , and the Screen saver to work , the Lockscreen I'm not fussed about

Hi all,

As the title says, I'm looking for a way to enable the lock screen when the screen turns off. I have found the option to require the user's password when the computer wakes up from sleeping, but I need it to lock when the screen turns off (after 5 minutes on my computer.)

This is just for extra security because I'm forget to press CTRL + L quite often.

Thanks all!

A:How do I enable lock when screen turns OFF?

Easiest way is to set a screen saver for the screen switch of time and use the option to require password on wake - the blank screen is as good a saver as any to pick

I have a laptop with 8.0 pre-installed.
Could normally access the lock screen with WinKey-L.

Since update to 8.1, this is no longer possible.
(all other keyboard shortcuts that I've tried, works OK)

Account is local with admin rights; pwd protected; not MS-account. No other accounts.
When I start the laptop, I have the Lock Screen to enter pwd.

I can get to the settings page to customise the Lock Screen, but not back to the Lock Screen!

Why can I not get to the Lock Screen with WinKey-L?
(what settings are preventing this?)

Thanks in advance for help/info.

A:How to enable the Lock Screen in 8.1 with WinKey-L

Hey Xperbat,

I just tested my Win key + L and I can pull up the lock screen directly (without a password) on 8.1. The only difference between us is I do not have the password protection as you described and I am using a desktop. Oh, and one more thing is that I do not have to enter a password on login either, so I boot right past that to either the start screen or onto the Windows 8.1 desktop (based on my selected option). So, maybe it has something to do with the difference in our option settings. Anyway, good luck in figuring it out!

With all that said, I'm wondering if you setup your initial login to be auto, if that would also fix your lock screen issue as well?

Hi all,

I recently look my computer to a technician for a repair, and they ended up reimaging it. I provided them with my password so they could make the necessary changes and they disabled the password on the lock screen.

The problem I've encountered since getting my computer back is I cannot re-enable the lock screen password.

I followed the instructions on Screen Saver Password Protection -Enable or Disable and so far I am not having any luck.

Does anyone know how I could re-enable the lock password?

Screen: when plugged in, turn off after 5 minutes
Sleep: When plugged in, pc goes to sleep after 10 minutes

Require password on wake-up is checked.

When left alone, the screen will never turn off. Any thoughts as to why? Thanks.

A:Screen won't auto-lock

I was having issues getting my Windows 10 PC to actually require a password each time it woke up from sleep. The way I solved my issue was to enable the group policy for Interactive logon: Machine inactivity limit. If you set a value here the computer will lock itself after the set amount of time and require a password on waking up.

This can be found in the Local Group Policy Editor under Computer Configuration/Windows Settings/Security Settings/Local Policies/Security Options/Interactive logon: Machine inactivity limit.

I'm not entirely sure this is exactly what you're looking for, but I think it might help.

Hi all;
We just got a new computer that included Windows 7 software. My simple question is this.
When we walk away from the computer for awhile and return to do something, the screen
locks up and asks for a password which I recorded when we first set up the computer.
I don't want to have to type in a password each time someone wants to use the computer
since this is our family, home use computer. How do I turn off this option?

Hey All,

I've lurked forever, and have found the solutions on these forums (and the prior sevenforums) exceedingly helpful, but now I'm stuck and can't find a solution.

The scenario:

Years ago I bought a Asus Transformer Pad T100. It was great. I enabled auto-signin and everything has been fine.
When I put the tablet to sleep, then wake it up, the lock screen is displayed, but once I swipe it up it auto-signs in to windows. This is my preferred behavior as it makes the lock screen act like a non-pin lock screen on a phone, and avoids mispresses of the power button causing applications to launch.

Today, I got an Asus Transformer 300 Chi. It has been pretty great so far, except for one issue that is driving me crazy: I can't repeat the above behavior.

Basically, either I don't get a lock screen at all, or I get one requiring a password. To clarify, I've confirmed that the user accounts screens on both tablet have Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer. unchecked. I do not require a password on sign-in of windows, which is great. But when I hit the power button, it just goes immediately to Windows' desktop.

On the T100, it is not set to require a password under screensaver settings, nor the Modern PC Settings' Account sections. Power settings does require a password on wakeup. And this is where things differ.

On the 300 Chi, I cannot have both the Modern PC Settings' account section to not require a password under Password Policy and power settin... Read more

There have been issues with this, and I can't remember what the solution was, but there's an extremely simple workaround (if you don't use a screen saver): set the wait time to a very high number (like 9999 minutes). It will never lock again.

There are a few issues I do not like but I am trying to cope with them.

I would like to be able to move a window without it automatically resizing to full screen mode.

I've been using Windows 10 for just over one year. For some reason the Lock Screen/Sign-in screen shows three users. All three are me in three iterations. I find also that when trying to save some excel and word documents I receive messages saying that i am not allowed to save to this folder or that folder. I am able to save to the desk top and then drag and drop the document into the folder that I need to place it in. I know that this must have something to do with "permissions". Not sure how to fix that. One of the accounts that shows up is the initial account that I created back when was around. Any ideas/advice on these issues? You'll find that the messages are controlled by a piece of software that came pre-installed on your machine when you bought it. Try looking for a Hotkey managing app to see if the notifications can be disabled.

I have an Insignia 8" tablet that I use to listen to an internet radio station. WiFi connection to my 2Wire 3801HGV router. I have it powered by the AC charger. I have the display to turn off after 5 minutes, never to go into sleep mode when powered by AC. After the 5 minutes the display is turned off, the music continues as expected and will continue for hours. But if I try to do anything I loose my WiFi.
Right after the screen is shut off I can enable it again with a stroke. Then the music stops. I no longer have internet access.
Network settings says I still am connected but somewhere the connection is broken. I disconnect from my router and then try to reconnect and it will not. I get, Checking Network Requirements, Can't connect to this Network. The only way I have been able to get connected is to do a restart.
Any ideas on how to solve this problem? I have not found any settings that have been useful. All it should be doing is shutting off the screen. Not go into any other sleep or power down state.

Hello. I am trying to fix an HP G62-367DX Notebook PC.
Operating sys: Win 7, 64bit, AMD Turion(tm) 530II Dual-Core Processor, 4GB, 2.50GHz. I had this laptop since December of 2010 and on June of 2013 is when I used my notebook PC and was initially of no use. I have been working on my laptop on and off since. I am not afraid to open the sucker up and get this thing up and running.

The problem started out with what most ppl call it, the "blue screen of death". Like most ppl, I did ignore the blue screen and did a restart which brought me to the normal Windows screen and then it would start back up just fine. I found this in Device Manager's (Hidden Files):
Non-Plug and Play Drivers
-! ehdrv
-! epfwwfp
-! Security Processor Loader Driver
I am not sure if it has anything to do with what it was the blue screen situation, but I tried searching on the net on what it all meant and to see if I was able to fix it, but before I was able to do something about it, the blue screen kept popping up and it was getting worse.

The problem progressed to where on Windows startup it would just stop there, blue screen would pop up and of course I had to restart it and do an F8 key press for Safe Mode. I had to work on Safe Mode for a good couple of weeks before I can figure out the problem/s. I believe I had went into the system and found out it had something to do with some kind of error... *sigh* I did write it down, but that was like a month ago and I am unable to locate my ... Kind of screen glitch that appears before windows 8 lock screen appears at start /restart and a notable delay in starting/restarting time than with my 1st win8 install.

I think this appeared after I installed my windows 7 back ( dont ask me why..)( a clean install) and installed my win8 back again.I dont think Ive done them corectly:

I couldnt install win 7 it in C ,neither to format that partition because of this message [Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks] and an error code 0x0000 smth... while attempting to format the C. A:unable to customize lock screen, start screen, account picture

If you're using the official release of Windows 8 Enterprise trial, you'll need to activate it. PC Settings doesn't have an entry to Activate, so you'll need to go to the Desktop to do so. The little Action Center icon on the lower right hand side (a little flag) should have a red X. Click on it, and it should say you need to activate. Do so, and you'll get those customizing features unlocked.

Whenever my laptop wakes up from sleep and shows the lock screen, I click and type in my PIN as normal. But on the lock screen at the top right, there's a Cortana box usually giving an example of what I can do, like 'tap and say remind me to water the plants when I get home'.

The problem is this box stays on the screen after the computer is unlocked, and displays semi-transparently in the top left over all other windows, with the only way to remove it is to double click, have a Cortana window display full screen and then close it.

I'd like to find a way of either fixing this or disabling Cortana from the lock screen altogether as I never use this feature. Any tips would be appreciated.

Okay, I think I've figured out a solution.

What I did was right click the desktop and choose "Personalize", then choose "Lock Screen" and switch "Show Windows background picture on the sign-in screen" to "Off".

I have no idea as to why this would change anything, but it did solve my problem, and I don't need the Windows logo background, so I'm happy!

Hi was wondering if others experience this. Trying to figure out the cause and if there is a fix.

When I turn on or restart my computer after the teal windows logo with the spinning wheel the screen will flash off quickly then come back on black and then 10 seconds later show the lock screen.

It's kind of annoying to have this delay happening and wondering if it's normal or something that can be fixed.

A:Black Screen after teal windows before lock screen

That sounds normal to me. The only variation might be "how long" you pause on the black screen (while your boot is being processed). Now, for some, that black screen might flash for only a few seconds but for others, it could last quite some time. My advice is to do nothing and live with it.

I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8 Pro. Everytime or almost everytime I click on an app or go to the desktop and try to get on IE 10 (desktop version), my screen flashes and goes black for a few seconds then returns me to the screen with the space needle, then I click on it and it signs me back in. When I try to use Google Chrome, the websites freeze up on me. I don't want to have to reinstall/reformat as I paid $40 for this for one, and secondly, I don't want to have to repurchase Office 2010 as my licenses ran out. Please help. I ran every update that comes up and restart, but this doesn't change this issue. I'm hoping there will be a patch or service pack or some update that will fix this. Any ideas why it does this and any way to fix it without reformatting?

A:Windows 8 Pro, screen goes black and back to lock screen

I had the same problem at first. Then one day the listing of all my apps disappeared. I did a refresh and lost a lot of programs but the files were still there. Then I noticed that the problem with the apps had fixed itself and they worked. My feeling is that the initial install wasn't complete and the refresh completed the install. Recently, after loading my Epson printer's CD, the apps once again disappeared. Had to do a system restore. Now I am having trouble with my screen just being black and not coming on at all...even after a reboot. Win8 has a lot of problems.

So I disabled the lock screen as it's just another unnecessary click to login, but what I want to be able to do is customise the background image of the login/ctrl+alt+del screen. I know you can change the "accent" colour but I don't want to use a solid colour. How do I go about this?

I found out that Update 1 (KB2919355) causes logon screen and lock screen issue.

Custom background for both screens are not displayed, instead of custom background there is a solid black background.

Uninstalling this update rolls back this issue and both screens are displayed correctly. Confirmed on Win 8.1 Pro x64.

I'm gonna report it to Microsoft.

I have the same problem on my laptop.

After the Update 1 my Lock Screen is completely blue and it's not showing the image anymore, I can see the icons but not the pic.

In addition to that, when I choose to reboot the laptop I can only see the loading circle and not the phrase "rebooting".

Hello, I have an HP Pavilion g series laptop (running win7) that is in a continuous restarting loop. This happened after the computer auto updated (windows update). I do not know what was updated, but now every time the laptop starts up it seems to be in a continuous rebooting loop after the windows logo then a blue flash. I am unable to go into safe mode or any other mode as I keep getting redirected to a page that gives me two options:Launch Startup Repair or Start Windows Normally. Startup repair gives me the same results as trying to run in safe mode.

By turning the auto-restart on system failure off i was able to read what the blue error message, which says:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is your first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check you hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive curruption, and then restart your computer.

The INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE bug check has a value of 0x0000007B. This bug check indicates that the Microsoft Windows operating system has lost access to the system partition during startup.

The INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE bug check frequently occurs because of a boot device failure. During I/O system initialization, the boot device driver might have failed to initialize the boot device (typically a hard disk). File system initialization might have failed because it did not recognize the data on the boot device. Also, repartitioning the system partition or installing a new SCSI adapter or disk controller might induce this error.

This error can also occur because of incompatible disk hardware. If the error occurred at the initial setup of the system, the system might have been installed on an unsupported disk or SCSI controller. Some controllers are supported only by drivers that are in the Windows Driver Library (WDL). (These drivers require the user to do a custom installation.)

first to say: I hope I've posted this problem in a proper place, if not so plz forgive me

the last time I changed my OS, I faced a problem, the drive "C:" root folder was write protected (it was not before, I could easily create texts etc). I decided to let it be in that situation, the problem started while trying to install applications, the applications were installed incompletely or partly installed, so I decided to take ownership of the whole drive "C:". I think this occurred because of Sharing rules, anyway I took ownership of the entire drive except some sys files such as: hiberfil.sys etc. Before doing this the whole operating system was working properly but after doing so, my above mentioned problems solved, but after that, my lock screen image has gone "Blue"! and I guessed that ownership causes the problem, so I tried so many solutions, including reinstalling a fresh copy of windows or trying the method mentioned in this link, but nothing changed . first I'll share my current lock screen image to show you I've changed it, after I'll share a shot of my lock screen blue image! plz help me this is so annoying!

I'm having a weird issue.

Every time I Restart my Laptop, the Lock Screen does not show the Welcome Screen and skips directly to the User Account login screen. Actually, it shows a darkish blue screen for a couple of seconds and then jumps to the user account login.

When I use the logout function or the shutdown (and I power it back on) everything works normally.

I have ran SFC / Scannow in windows (8.1 by the way).

Any suggestion ?

A:Welcome Screen (Lock Screen Pic) not showing on Restart

I may have misunderstood what you are asking but does this tutorial help?

In Windows 8 and 8.1 there are two "Lock" screens.
The user lock screen is the one that displays when a user locks the PC while still signed in to Windows, and when the user is selected on the sign in screen, times out, and returns to the lock screen. Each user is able to change their lock screen background image to an image of their choice. The default Lock screen image is the one that displays when there are no users currently signed in to Windows or selected on the sign in screen.

Good afternoon,

I just did a clean install of 7 to fix errors with my laptop, and it fixed one, but not the other main issues,
My caps lock, and number lock button on the keyboard don't have a light on it and the pop up that is supposed to pop up doesn't show up on screen.
I figured by doing a clean install it would all magically appear again... I was wrong, I have tweaked everything I could think of looking/trying to change setting from the keyboard in control panel, (including messing around with ease of use) and Gateways so called "support" area was of no help, as well as googling the issue has led me down a path of useless tips, I have also looked on this forum for help.

Any help in this area would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Ok I've been suffering this issue with Windows 10 for as long as I can remember, and it's stopping me using it as the primary OS.

In short I have two, intermittent issues which nothing I do seems to resolve.

1: After waking up from sleep and typing my username password and hitting return, the screen goes black. Cursor moves, Windows + P operates (Screen options do appear from the right) but doesn't actually make any difference, and I'm stuck having to hard reset because ctrl alt del doesn't work either. This isn't an every time issue, hence googling seems to fail miserably because all the examples are people getting it every time. This, for me, is a 3 in 10 regularity.

2: Logging a user off occasionally sees the lock screen ... locking up. Ironically. Mouse moves, and power button DOES work but that's all that works.

These issues are plaguing me and I just cannot fix them - endless googling has left me empty handed, and I've tried disabling SLI. No help. I've tried disabling apps. No help. Nothing I do makes any difference and event viewer doesn't seem to reveal anything useful either.

Anyone got any idea how I can resolve this?

System is:

2TB Seagate HDD
2x980Ti SLI
32 GB RAM @ 1800 Corsair
Asus Z97-A
Windows 10 & Windows 7 dual boot 64.

Hi, first post here by a rather happy Lenovo Yoga 13 + Windows 8 user.

As the topic says, is it possible to have the lockscreen turn on automatically after a few minutes?

As it is now I can only get to the lock screen after waking up the computer from the screen saver. I would like to have it configured so that the traditional screen saver is bypassed and it goes straight to the lock screen and stays there forever until I swipe it up.

I think the lockscreen is a very beautiful feature and it's great to see all these small notifications. It would be wonderful to just be able to glance at my computer and seeing these notifications without actually having to touch it.

I feel it's kind of useless to only see the lock screen while you're actually logging in, because then you'll see your notifications anyway on your start screen.

A:Can I use the lock screen as a screen saver?

The easiest way is to right click your account icon on top right of Start Screen and Lock it.

Hi! So, I've upgraded to Windows 8 RTM this weekend and I'm having this problem: Every time I boot the PC (shutdown or restart), the Num Lock key is off. Since my password uses numbers, and I'm pretty used to type it with Num Lock, I'd like to keep it always on. It was fine on Windows 7. Now, I've searched for it, and there is the "InitialKeyboardIndicators" key on regedit. I have changed values for all of them to "2", and it didn't work. My BIOS say to keep it always on. Is there anything else that I'm missing?

Netplwiz, or tap num lock before starting password entry.

Besides those, you can check to make sure keyboard is plugged in directly to motherboard instead of add-on card or something.

Hello Folks,

I'm not sure if my issue is with hardware (possibly MB?) or graphics card, so please forgive me if I've posted in the wrong section. The first problem I was having was random blue screens of death that displayed graphic card driver issues. I was able to remedy that by updating my graphic drivers and have not had an issue since.

However, ever since then I have been running into another hardware or graphics-related issue that is random and completely stumping me. What is happening is, I will be on my computer, leave and turn my monitor off, and (randomly) when I come back to use my computer again, when I turn on the monitor there is no signal and a black screen (e.g. when I turn my monitor on my desktop will pop up and the light on my monitor will turn blue, when it doesn't turn on there will be a black screen and the light on the monitor stays yellow as if it is idle). I have tried swapping out the monitor to see if that was the issue and the same problem persists, so it does not appear to be my monitor or VGA cables.

The only way I can temporarily fix this issue is to reboot/restart my computer and viola! The monitor works again and I can see everything. This issue is very random. Sometimes I can go weeks without an incident, other times this is happening a couple times a week. I honestly don't know if it's my motherboard or video card or what. My PC isn't overheating, I'm not overclocking, and all of my drivers are updated.

(I had to use my phone as it seems you cannot use print screen at this login)

Normally it would have the persons picture and name, and all you would have to do is enter the password, but it seems it has made it so you have to enter the Username and Password which is quite an annoyance. I went through all of the settings to make sure that I had not accidentally changed any, from what I saw I had not changed any settings or if there were in fact any settings that causes this behaviour.

Thanks for your help in advance,

I made the mistake of including family photos in the lock screen choices.

I am trying to remove family pictures from the row at the lock screen preview. I don't want to change a lot of other things along the way if possible. I was hoping I could just right click the 3 family pictures and remove them but they won't go. The piano is the one I see and that is alright but the 3 to the right are the ones I want to clear.
Is there a way to do this?
Thank you

Hello Peter,

So far the easiest way to remove older selected images used for your lock screen background is to change your lock screen to other images until the 3 old ones are replaced with the newer old ones.

The default background images used for the lock screen are located in the C:\Windows\Web\Screen folder. Those would be good to use to select until your images are gone.

I own a Dell demension 2350 computer and had to have memory chip replaced. By
problem is that my monitor screen is locked out. I'm unable to change the brightness
etc. with the buttons on the bottom of monitor face. I'm new to this site and if this
post is in the wrong forum please excuse me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:screen lock out

Those buttons control the display electronics and are independent of the electronics or software in the computer case. I would diagnose a monitor failure. Try calling Dell tech support. LOL.

Hi guys,

For no apparent reason, my screen has started to lock-up completely when I play music with Windows Media Player whilst running other software (e.g Word, Photoshop etc).

This started about 2 weeks ago. The only change I have made to the system recently is to install Steganos Internet Anonym. This has not been too successful, due to conflicts with my Firewall which I haven't yet sorted out, so the new software is currently disabled.

The precise problem is that as soon as I start any other software with Media Player running, the task bar remains hidden whatever I try, any new dialogue windows remain on screen and nothing will make the screen refresh. Windows Task Manager shows no odd applications or processes running. I can stop applications running, but the screen will still show the application window. My only recourse is to reboot when it happens.

Any ideas?

Many thanks for your kind attention

Jem Clay

I cant get the lock screen notifications to work for mail and calendar, when I go to add them they are just greyed out and don't appear.

Has anyone got them working and can help me figure it out.

The only lock screen notification I have got to work is the weather but I don't know what I did to make that happen.

How can I get the mail one to work.

Hi - you may need to make the tiles a certain size before they show you live notifications - try making them smaller and check the accounts are synchronised properly?

How do I activate a screen lock or a blank screen saver that disappears at the press of a hot-key (not mouse movement)? I don't want to lock it with a password so as not to cause suspicion.

A:Lock Screen

I think you have about five questions there.

a. To activate screen lock use < Windows logo> + l (that's lower case L).

b. To activate the blank screen saver either set the screen saver to that and let the PC sit for the designated idle time or create a desktoop shortcut to C:\Windows\system32\scrnsave.scr and double-click it.

c. To prevent the mouse from interrupting in Device Manager right click the mouse - Properties - Power Management tab - uncheck 'Allow this device to wake the computer.' I am not positive that this works for the screen lock.

d. I do not know if it makes sense to lock the screen w/o a password needed for unlocking. And if it can be done I don't know how.

e. To not need a password when stopping a screen saver either choose no screen saver or else uncheck 'On resume, display login screen.'

Hi Everyone,
I recently upgraded my Windows 7 laptop to Windows 8. I am loving it so far. However, I added my university account to the Mail application as a Exchange account and it said it needed to enable extra security features in order for me to use it. So I clicked OK. I am not sure what options it enabled. However, now my computer locks itself after the screen turns off. I have no screen saver set, just the monitor to turn off after 10 minutes. Once I wake the monitor, I am presented with the lock screen and have to log back into my computer. My laptop is used by my whole family in my house so I like it left open. I have removed my university account from mail but I am assuming the settings are still imposed as the computer keeps locking itself and requiring my password.

Does anyone know how I can fix this situation?

Thanks for any help!

A:Lock Screen

In order to connect to an Exchange server, then Exchange requires that the client enable certain security settings based on the security policy of the exchange server. These settings typically include a mandatory lock screen, as well as the ability to wipe the entire device and reset it to factory defaults should it get lost (the exchange administrator can wipe any device connected to it at any time they want to).

If your school has enabled mandatory lock screens, then not much you can do, except remove exchange integration.

I just bought a new laptop that came with Windows 8 pre-installed. On the lock screen there is a tiny picture of the planet Saturn with the number 10 next to it. I'm pretty sure it was a different number the other day. What is it?

Edit: After doing some searching, it appears to be a notification of some sort. Can anyone tell me what app this is from?

Could it be your wifi signal strength since you have the other information under day-date ?

This is my first post here. First off I will say I am not very computer savvy. Maybe that's why I'm having such a hard time with windows 8.

I'm am trying to turn off the window lock screen. If I don't touch the computer after a minute or 2 it goes to the screen lock and require me to log in each time. This is very annoying and is starting to really tick me off. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello Ryan, and welcome to Eight Forums.

It sounds like you have the screen saver password protection enabled. Double check using the tutorial below to make sure it's disabled to see if that may help.

Ok, i got a lil problem with my computer.
When i go on certain websites, or start up Origin when i wanna play BF3, my screen lock up for a few seconds. The sounds hold up some times, and starts again when the screen is working again. It has been like this for a while. And i upgraded my computer for a month or 2, for better performance, and was hoping it would stop locking up. But no luck. This dos not happen when i start any other programs, only origin or certain websites.

Any idea on what the problem might be?

A:Screen lock up.

Check if Flash Player and Java are up to date, and maybe re-install them anyway.
In case you were wondering, both are components used to display correctly animated sites (like Origin) and used in some games as well (to see in-game menus/videos/cinematics).

Here would be the details i hope for..
It will have a hotkey that is changeable
when you press the hotkey your screen darkens/dims which could be ajusted
your mouse doesnt move (optional)
and there is no typing box (preferably)
You just have to type in the correct sequence of letters/numbers/symbols
