Lost Windows Games!

Q: Lost Windows Games!

Hi,
As a newbie I hope this is the proper place for my help question?
I used a 'registry cleaner' yesterday and it wiped loads of programmes off my computer.
I got them all back except Windows Vista Spider Solitaire. I'm not bothered about the other games too much.
Tried all the usual avenues of help (turn windows features on/off etc) but none helped.
Could someone tell where to look for a download site or possibly email me a copy?
I'm using Vista Home Basic 32bit.
Regards
Jack

A: Lost Windows Games!

The game is probably still there.
Is it the game directory that has been removed?
Did you create a backup of the registry?
Type spider into the search bar.

after I used the utility to get my shortcuts back, I lost my windows games. Now is there a way to get back the windows games that were there? Solitaire, freecell, pinball etc. Thanks for any help.

A:lost windows games

Try accessing the games' uninstall options (from Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs/Windows Components) and uninstall them, then reboot and reinstall them from the same location. This should restore the icons when the reinstall takes place.

Win 10 upgrade failed and I tried to restore my Win 7 from CD from hp.   No games were installed.  Why?

A:Lost games on windows 7.

heartlight I'd like to help you with your problem but I'm having difficulties with what you said. The HP Recovery Media for Win7 is NOT a CD, but instead, a set of DVDs (usually 3) and a separate Drivers CD. The full set of DVDs will reformat your drive and reinstall, not only the OS, but also all the drivers, the HP utilities, and everthing else that came preinstalled on your PC. If all you used was a single CD, that would not have worked to recover your PC. So please explain, in more detail, what you did. We can proceed once you provide the information. Thanks

I recently "upgraded" my Windows XP to Internet Explorer 8 (don't do it!) and lost my Windows games, including Solitaire. The files are gone, not in the Windows files, and not in system 32 files. Where can I get a free download to restore the games? Thanks!

My older pc, an HP Pavilion 6630 with W98SE was in the shop for a few days and when it retiurned after a W98 reinstall, the games were gone. I went into systems to reinstall them and I was asked to insert the W98 CD Rom. Unfortunately, the CD I have is just a copy, as I have somehow misplaced the original software some time ago. The copy is corrupted or something, and it won't install the games. If I attempt to use the CD, it somehow corrupts Outlook Express. Don't know why. I have original book fro Microsoft that came with the computer and it has the product key.I hope someone can give me some guidance here.

This is not our main computer. We have a newer one with XP.
Thanks, John

start --> control panel --> add/remove programs --> click on the add/remove windows components on the left hand side. Then its the first option (accesories and utilities). Click on details and you should be able to check what things you want on your pc. you will probably have to put your xp cd in. then click ok

A:i lost my games

No.
But if you have the installl CD, it's on there. Start>Settiings>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs>Add/Remove Windows Components. Click on Accessories and Utilities (NOT ON THE CHECK MARK), and then click details. Now check beside Games. Click next. Get your Windows Xp cd. Put it in. Right side up.
Now spin around three times and say "There's no place like the Tech Support Forum, there's no place like the Tech Support Forum"

Is a System Restore a risky thing to do if my computer is on a network with an office system?

"games?" what "games?" im not sure "ADD/Remove Components" will do that... if you uninstalled something you will need to reinstall... if you deleted something you can TRY to recover it

Microsoft, itself has been truly unforthcoming with any suggestions that are applicable to the situation. Can anyone help me with this program? Thank You

I have done a search on my computer for the ones I can remember but they are no where to be found. Can anyone tell me how to get them back. Thanks

You probably need to figure out what happened to them first, because if you have a virus or something reinstalling them won't do you any good until you get rid of it.

A:lost games in vista ?

heres what you do. if you know what the game is called(obviously) then click on the vista button in the bottom left hand corner and in the "start search" box, type the name of the file you downloaded or as close to it as you can get and let it search. hopefully you will come out with the .exe. and next time, instead of clicking "run"when you download the game, click "save" and save it to your desktop so it will be easier to find. have a good day

I have a 2004 Compaq Presario XP desktop computer. Only came with 248 MB or 1 gig of RAM. Have empty space. Got it free from ex-church member when they moved.

This past Monday, January 20th in the morning, I had two updates come up one from Adobe for flash 12 and one for Java 7 update 51. Afterwards, I had lost wordpad on here and all my free games that came with the OS. Have gone to start-all programs and the games folder is empty. I miss playing my solitaire in the morning!

I went to My Computer-Program files and found the MSN Gaming Zone folder, but what is in it all ends with .dll. Cannot play the games with those. Where did they go and which update killed them? Have tried system restore and it never has worked for me. No changes were made.

A:After two updates lost Free Games and Wordpad

Try the following:
Go to Start > Control Panel > Add Remove Programs >

In the left pane, click Add/Remove Windows Components and wait for a popup window to open

Highlight Accessories and Utilities then highlight Games and click on Details

Tick the boxes of the games you want and click on OK.

And OK again.

Then click on Next and windows will install the games,

Click on Finish

Hi All

I need some help, major help trying to find the cause of my problem.

First let me describe my situation.

My Set up - 2 computers with XP,
computer 1 acts as gateway.
Computer 1 s ethernet is hooked up to a Breezenet 11 Pro outdoor that connects to my WISP. I have a good antenna and the line amplified.

The Issue, I have random disconnects with online games and chats. I still have internet access btw.

Now here is the big mystery. Computer 1 will be online playing ultima online same as computer 2. Computer 1 (which is the gateway) losses connection with game while computer 2 is still playing. Or vice versa. I have had this WISP for over a year now and the situation started 5 months ago.

I have checked my set up, done all sorts of things.
Checked with my Wisp. They say everything is ok
Checked with Att.net, they say everything is ok.
Checked with the EA.com, they show nothing is wrong.
Mind you I get disconnects with chats also.

Connection to my WISP is Solid.

It might be syncronization but I dont know what to do about it. Im a total newb when it comes to settings and such, tcp/ip stuff and all.
Hope some of you Gurus out there can help point me in the right direction on what to do.

My Dell Latitude D610 came back from the fixit guy after virus troubles, with all of the games, paint, & calculator missing.  I have spent an hour hunting around on Google for this.  There seem to be a zillion pages addressing the problem.  They either advise something so techy it's incomprehensible, or they recommend Add/remove programs --> windows components --> accessories & utilities, etc.  I have tried that.  It wants the XP SP2 disc, which I do not have.  I found a recommendation to use the i386 file; I searched & found at least half a dozen files labelled i386.  I tried opening one or 2 but it still didn't work.  The installation wizard seems to be looking for something called "spider".  I have also tried individually installing just the calculator & paint, & I have the same problem.
Another page referred me to the AccRestore v.2.0 page; I ran that & it restored shortcuts to the start menu but not the actual programs.  Now, when I click on one of the shortcuts it says it can't find, for example, calc.exe.
Everything else is ok.  I would rather not have to call fixit-guy again; he's a very poor communicator & frustrating to deal with.
Can anyone tell me in some simple non-techy terms, a step by step method of getting these back?  Can I download them somewhere?  Or, step by step, what to copy from our other XP puter?
Thanks!

A:Have lost WinXP accessories: paint, calculator, games, etc.

Try this, it's a legal ISO file of for XP.  Remember that you will want the exact same version as what is installed, eg XP Home, XP Pro,...  As I recall they have them with SP3.

I hope someone can help me fix this issue with my computer. My husband ran a disk clean up on a secondary hard drive and when it cleaned it up, he said not to reboot it yet but it had already deleted internet explorer, the games folder/program, entertainment folder/program, and calculator. That's all I have realized is gone because those are the frequent programs that show up when I open the start menu. I can't find them in the trash can or anywhere when I searched for them. Someone please help me!

Thanks!

A:Please Help! Lost Internet Explorer, Games & Entertainment Folders, And Calculator

When you say. "Disk clean up", what exactly do you mean?

Do you mean wiping and reformatting or just emptying temp files?

Emptying temp files should not have impacted the operation of IE or changed what you had stored in your favorites.

You can repair Internet Explorer, but unless you had your "favorites" backed up, if he deleted them they are gone.

Repair IE

Click to Control Panel, then to Add/Remove Programs, and then to "Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x." (Your copy may call itself Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x (or 6) and Internet Tools," or something similar, but your get the idea.)

The next step is not at all intuitive, but click the "Add/Remove…" button, and instead of triggering an uninstall, you'll find the repair tool.

The tool gives you the option of repairing your current installation (this is usually the correct choice), or reverting to your previous installation, if you elected to make a backup of that installation when you first installed IE 5+.

I have Vista Home Premium 64 bit and I downloaded 64 Bit RC Windows 7 and did a clean install on another partition of my hard drive. Dual boot was working for about 4 days then all of a sudden it doesnt come up any more. The partition is still there with Windows 7 installed on it but its not booting under it. I go into MSConfig and Windows 7 isnt even being detected, checked the advanced system options in the control panel and it isnt there either.

Any idea how to recover windows 7? I did not install it from dvd, I installed from Daemon Tools and worked fine.

I am completely new to Windows 8 since I installed it today, and when I went into the X-Box games app, I couldn?t see any of my purchased games from GFWL, what gives? It would only seem logical or doesn?t it?

A:X-Box Games app and Games for Windows Live account merge?

Well, yeah I was hoping that would happen but at this time there is no merging yet but maybe in the future.
The Xbox games app shows your profile and scores and that is about it. I figure the reason is the games you bought are not Metro Apps which still uses a Client. Maybe the Client would be updated to Xbox Games instead since the client is not in the metro app thing.

I can say the Client works:

Hi
I was wondering about that if there's a some kind of conflict, or penalty if i want to play an original game on live (steam download) and later play another one but it's cracked. Let me explain i have some original games but i have one cracked that use games 4 windows, but i played it just offline so i don't have the need to go live with this one. The thing is that i uninstalled it long ago, but i want to play it again, so....if i install it again to play offline, would be a problem, conflict or penalty (like permanent ban or something) with my original games that i play online?
Need some answers please.

We can't help with cracked games.
If the game was originally registered on steam, then it is
still there.
All you have to do is install steam, login to your account and download it from "my games".

I attempted to upgrade my tablet running 8.1 to Windows 10. I couldn't clear enough space for the install without wiping everything I had stored, so, as instructed, I added a media card for the update. Everything installed and went through the update, but
when it began to boot with Windows 10, it failed and immediately attempted to restore 8.1. It could not find a restore point and now will not boot windows at all.  It tells me to use a recovery disc/drive, but I do not have one and cannot make one since
it won't boot up. How can I re-install windows 8.1 (or 8 or 10) without having to acquire a new key for my tablet that is less than 1 year old?  I have an installation USB made for 10, but I don't know if it will work without having to input a key, and
honestly I am not sure if the tablet will boot from usb.

We have had for months now 3 Windows 8.1 workstations running Hyper-V with Windows 7 guest OS's. These guest were used to support clients that required a rather tight VPN connection. Suddenly last week all 3 machines has the same issue.
The guest no longer have internet connectivity.  One workstation has Broadcom NIC other 2 have Intel.  It's as if some Windows patch did something that caused the Virtual Switch to stop working.
Have blown away the VM's, dropped the Virtual Switch.  Ran updates.  Recreated the Virtual Switch and built new VM.  Still same condition.
The host to continues to connect to network and internet without issue.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A:Windows 8.1 Hyper-V host, Windows 7 guest lost network connectivity.

There is a Win8 forum here (for future ref)
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w8itprovirt/threads
Is this in a corporate environment?  If so, were any changes made to the switches?  I've seen environments where the switch is locked down to only allow one MAC/IP per port, which knocks off any VMs.
Are you getting any DHCP information? Can you assign a static IP and get connectivity?

can anyone help. I had windows 7 32bit installed on PC have upgraded to windows 7 64bit but seem to have lost network adapter driver. Any advice would be apprecited, I have no network or internet access.

A:UPgrade from windows 7 32bit to windows 7 64 bit lost network driver

I had a similar problem when loading XP onto a laptop that had been running Vista. I didn't have the wireless network driver for it. So ...
Open System Properties.
Click on Device Manager
Scroll down to the Network Adapters section
Find the wireless card item
Double-click it
Select the Details tab
In XP, it showed a text like this. It's the unique ID for the network card.PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4229&SUBSYS_11208086&REV_61\4&6C79FC5&0&00E0
On my Win 7 box, I don't get a tangled description like that. Instead, I get plain, readable text:Intel(R) 82567V-2 Gigabit Network Connection
Either way ... google-search for that text. In my case, I found a web page at Cnet with all the necessary drivers. They had XP 32-bit, XP 64-bit, Vista 32-bit, Vista 64-bit, Win 7 32-bit, and Win 7 64-bit. They had it all. Easy.

This one has me really stumped!

I installed free Windows 10 yesterday and, after using it for a while, decided that I don't like it so I rolled back to Windows 7 by re-imaging to an image I saved just before installing W10. I immediately noticed that Windows Update would no longer work. After a lot of searching, I found that Background Intelligent Transfer Service was missing. It was not in my services. I tried everything I could find in various forums with no luck. Windows Update worked right up until the I installed W10.

I finally found a MS article on how to put BITS back and it worked. I then checked it's dependencies and made sure they were there and working but Windows Update still wouldn't work.

I then re-imaged back to an image 5 weeks old and BITS doesn't show up there either even though it definitely worked back then. That was a mystery since my PC should have been re-imaged to exactly how it looked back in June.

Thinking I might have a bad sector on my drive, I ran Disk Check with the option chosen to repair anything it finds that is wrong. I also ran sfc /scannow. No luck.

I'm at loss to explain this let alone fix it. I found lots of threads where other people lost BITS but not when they had just installed W10 and then rolled back to W7. Nothing I found has worked and I'm at my wits end at this point.

This all started with the W10 install but I don't know how my old images could be affected.

I can usually fix any PC problem... Read more

A good friend of mine went ahead and updated from Win 7 to win 10 without backing up anything (despite my objections) and now has windows live mail but any of his old email messages are gone. I would suspect they are in the windows. Old folder in .app but not sure. Does windows 10 store the emails in the .app file like win 7?  I haven't gone over to help him yet. I am using Win 7 and will upgrade once I know that everything is working with 10.

A:Lost windows live mail messages after upgrading to windows 10.

Hi munybuny You should try to see if you can find anything under the folders listed in this article.http://www.pcworld.com/article/189238/win_live_mail_store.htmlIf they are really under the windows.old folder, it should be:C:\windows.old\Users\$USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail

I recently had my slow laptop cleaned in order to improve performance. The guy deleted my Windows Live Mail folders and lots of other things(mostly unused anyway). He replaced Vista with Windows 7 Home Premium. Now I have lost all my mail. I am now using Windows Live Mail 2012 but can only see the most recent mails. Can I retrieve the previous mails and folders? http://www.sevenforums.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

A:Changed from Vista to Windows 7 and lost all my Windows Live mail.

If he installed W7 on top of your Vista, then your mail is gone unless you have a recent image of your Vista system on an external drive.

That is one reason why I use AOL since the dawn of time - and I never lost a single mail because they are all stored upstream at AOL. I can go back to my first mail from day 1 on AOL. And I use AOL via the browser - not with their heavy app. And this way I can get at my mail from any PC, my Android tablet or my phone.

I was trying to clean out my inbox of over 10,000 emails. I moved some of the emails I wanted to save in my sent folder as backup. They went there and are OK. I next tried to delete one email message and it deleted. All of a sudden the screen reappeared with all of the remaining emails (10,000 or so gone). I can still send and receive email but my inbox is completely empty except for the new ones received.

How do I restore the lost emails and is the a bug in WLM?

My dual boot works, Win7Ultimate64 on C and Win8Enterprise64 on D, I just hope you did a system image or back up before installation, not unless you are sure of what you are doing.. Before Win8 installs it will ask you the location where you will have it installed, if Win7 really got lost maybe you mixed up the installation.

Hello all, as you can see by the title I have a couple of problems, so I figured I would put them all into one thread to make it easier.

Okay this all started when all of a sudden windows would be deselected and if I am playing a game it would be minimized. I brang up a resource manager and saw that there was something there called System Interruptus, not sure if this has something to do with it or not?

I then went to update windows because I hadn't done it in a while, when I get error 80244022, I have tried to fix it but to no avail, I have also deleted the contents of the SoftwareDistribution folder except for the ReportingEvents.log

So basically I need help with these two things, the windows being deselected and minimized is probably the most important as it is the most annoying, but I thought maybe updating windows could fix it (basically I haven't updates since installing :/)

Sorry about being so vague and not having much information but I don't know why these problems would be occuring.

Thank you in advance for your responses.

P.S. I have scanned twice with malwarebytes anti-malware since this occuring and it only picked up one virus on the first scan, and since I hardly ever torrent or anything like that I am doubting it is malware, but I'm not ruling it out as a possibility.

A:Windows being deselcted, games being minimized and windows update errors.

I just rolled back to a system restore point I had before I started having the windows being deselected and minimized issure, I have yet to see it happen but I just booted up and it always gets worse the more I use the computer so I will keppy you updated on if it fixes it or not etc.

Meanwhile if anyone has solutions to the problems would appreciate you posting them as it seems I am getting the problem again now

Hey, I have a problem, firstly here are my system specs:

AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+ 2.60 GHz
6.00 GB DDR3 RAM
Windows 7 64-Bit Home Premium
ATI Radeon HD 4300/5000 Series

My problem is that when I am playing games such as Minecraft or full screen games like Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike: Source, windows decides to Tab Out... When I (it just did this then) press a key it makes the noise that windows normally makes when you can't use the keyboard (I have no idea what to call the noise o.o) Windows also (it just did it again) basically makes the window look like another window is on top of it here, is basically what it looks like (on the right, I decided to put skype and chrome next to each other and click on skype which makes the top of chrome look (it just decided to do this again) like it's basically not in use, I really do not know how to describe this here is an image w/ the comparison http://puu.sh/1RDgf As you can see on the right (Chrome's top bar is abit lighter than Skypes)

This is really annoying, and I really cannot explain the reason fully, I have re installed windows once, and this does not do anything, so I am not going to try this again! I've tried in my best ability to explain this, but let me say one last thing, It basically seems like another window is popping up, but cannot be seen and this is making my games and normal windows tab out... I can tell because chrome or the game I am playing will either make the top bar look ligh... Read more

Hi,

Recently Windows has been hanging a little after closing Firefox and/or Windows Live Mail. For example, if I close Firefox or WM (Windows Mail) and click on the Start button or anything for that matter Windows will hang maybe 2 seconds before it loads it. It didn't used to do this. I've ran anti virus/spyware programs (Which returned no real threats) and Ccleaner. I've defragmented and ran check disk too so my files should be clean and in order for quick access. I actually recently had to reinstall Windows XP (32bit) so it's a pretty fresh install. As far as I know the drivers and whatnot should be up-to-date too. As for the game, it's particulary only one as I notice lags in a certain way that never had before. It's America's Army and every so often I will get this lag that will last for a few seconds and just go away. It will make the game real sluggish but only for about 4 or so seconds but gets quite annoying as this didn't used to happen before. I've tried system restore to go back to a point where I didn't think it had been doing this but none of the restore points were available for some reason and the one it did let me restore to didn't help. I don't notice any processes running that look suspicious or that shouldn't be running. I've also noticed the past few times I boot up and while loading windows my mouse will freeze for just a second which is also not normal.

I do have my CPU, ram and vid... Read more

A:Windows XP hangs a little after closing Firefox or Windows Mail and lag games.

A little update...

I ran Advance WindowsCare V2 Peronal and let it "clean and fix" everything but I still get the delay/lag after closing almost any program. For instance, I opened up Windows defrag utility, closed it and tried clocking on start and it didn't open for about 3 or 4 seconds. I don't know what's causing this but it will also slow my game mention above down like I have something else using a lot of CPU power or something for a few seconds...and this happens in the game quite often...I'd say it does it at least once every minute.

Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this? It's very annoying and I would hate to have to reinstall Windows since I just literally got everything reinstalled and copied back over when this problem started occurring. If you need any more info or logs, let me know. Thanks.

Hello,

I have 2 Windowses on my PC and I would like to play games that I have installed on W7 on W8 but there is a problem. Some games dont worked because of d3dx9 dll's and I solved it with installing DirectX , some games missed VC++/.Net. But now there are some games that still dont work. Like League of Legends didn't worked when i run it from W7 partition but when i copied it to W8 partition it worked. I don't want to do this with every game I have. Is there any solution to make them work?

Sorry for my english.

Thanks in advance.

A:Dual/Multi Boot games form Windows 7 on Windows 8

As a general recommendation you shouldnt try to run most programs that are installed on another Windows OS'es partition. some softwares need certain files, dependencies, Registry entries, etc, and if those are in your other 7 OS, then your 8 install wont be able to find everything, which may bring about errors.

The best thing you can do is either play them on 7 or uninstall them in 7 and then reinstall them in 8.

I also had the same issue when trying to run some other Windows games via WINE in Ubuntu Linux. same basic principle applies.

Decided to go back to Windows 7 - did this and ALL folders in WLM disappeared.

Please, is it possible to get these folders back?
Thanks very much.

A:wlm folders lost in moving from windows ten back to windows seven

If the accounts were IMAP the mail is still on the server. You can set up the accounts afresh and they should pull the mail down. To be really safe you can set the accounts up in a different mail client, such as Thunderbird or Mail Store, and then play with WLM.

If the accounts were POP you will have to find and restore the data. Maybe someone here has direct experience, otherwise open windows explorer and begin looking at c:\users\<user name>\appdata, in either the local or roaming hierarchy, under Microsoft. Win10 might have its own, similar, store of the mails.

Before the swap I placed all of my files into an external HDD. I did this by moving the Users file into the new HDD. Upon installing my new OS, I transfered the Users file from the external into my PC again and dragged and dropped everything into their corresponding places (i.e. Documents into Documents, Downloads into Downloads, and so on). Now a couple of my files made it through to places I can locate them, but my more hidden stuff like MS Office and my Adobe software are no where to be found. I also had a decent selection of Steam games downloaded that were supposedly in the files I transferred and my PC says I have to download them all again. Would anyone be able to tell me how I can find my poor lost files again? I need the first two for school.

Is there an issue with the 'Games for windows live' update that has been released on 13th March. It came through as part of the latest windows 'patch tuesday' updates. Every other security update installed but this one keeps failing. It says 'Windows Update encountered an unknown error' code 80070643. Repeatedly fails to install. Looking under my programs and features list it shows i have the following installed:-

Microsoft Games for Windows - Live Redistributable - installed on 13/3/12 version 3.5.92.0
Microsoft Games for Windows Marketplace - installed on 18/08/11 version 3.5.50.0

I can login to it okay but it keeps popping up as a windows update today and keeps failing. I think something is wrong with it. Anyone else?

Thanks,

Hi folks

I'm having a massive headache with Games For Windows Live and - more specifically - the apparent need to update the Live ID Assistant.
The problem is that even if I run the installer from the Microsoft website as admin, it goes as if to extract the installer file, but doesn't actually do anything after that.
I've tried uninstalling the GFWL client, rebooting and reinstalling, I've tried compatibility but that isn't working either. I really do not know what the heck to do with this.
I've looked through numerous forums that have suggested uninstalling and reinstalling the client software, and some have said that the Live ID assistant doesn't need re-installing. I happen to be fairly certain that the ID assistant is a service (if I'm not mistaken), so I've looked through services.msc, and there's not a trace of it in there, so it really does need installing. I can't launch any games without it, and I've got a fair few that are just sat around doing nothing because I can't get the blasted assistant to install in the first place.
The next thing I notice is that even though I'm using Windows 8 (not 8.1, just windows 8) it tells me the update for the Assistant is for Windows 7 systems. Could that be part of the problem or have I really missed something?

Any help greatly appreciated!

A:Games For Windows Live ID Assistant update and Windows 8

Ok never mind. I managed to resolve that problem.
If only I can get Batman Arkham City to work, there's a bunch of solutions out there but none of them appear to be working for me - mostly because of the GFWL stuff I think.

hi
Today i was trying to get rid of the login password to make easier my girlfriend's access to my pc.
I don't know what in hell i clicked but a computer nightmare began.
I think It has to do with me managing the netplwiz settings.
Suddenly i wasn't my computer's admin anymore and i was getting UAC prompts for everything, without being able to run any software. I don't know if i deleted my admin account or i just took away its admin privileges.
Of course i couldn't run elevated CMD prompt or nothing like that.

As you see the "yes button" was greyed out. So i tried to take care of that and rebooted in safe mode and logged in as admin and only the first time it worked, i mean i could login as admin. I opened an elevated CMD prompt and typed:

Code:
net user administrator /active:yes
to enable the built in Admin account
and

Code:
net user administrator password
to reset the admin account and make it empty.

Well, when i rebooted i find out that the built-in admin's password wasn't empty as i thought it would be i i have no idea about the password.
No only that, if i try again booting in safe mode the admin option is now password protected and i don't know the password.
I can only login with my microsoft account which doesn't have admin privileges.
The only difference is that now windows gives me the chance to enter the password everytime i want to do something, a password i don't know.

Now for the last 6 months or so I started getting issues with my machine was not displaying anything at all after turning it on. So I had to hard reset my power from the machine and then was able to see it started displaying again.

At first I suspected graphic card (NVIDIA GEFORCE) but then I did my diagnostic test and nothing was found.

One day, I started re-imaging my machine as a fresh and then after this it never came back ONLINE. I read all HP forums & even HP Online support was unable to help me to find the cause.

Because when I turn on my machine I can see the power light was on and could hear big fan noise but mo HDD activity at all.

So at this stage, I suspected either motherboard or BIOS but wasn?t 100% sure what could be the real cause because I was sure it was not due to graphic card.

So first I re-setted by my BIOS to see if it helps but it didn?t came up at all. So then I took my machine to a Computer repair shop (a friend of mine) and we detected it could be due to the regulator which supplies power to the CPU and motherboard.

So we replaced that part and now my HP Touchsmart is running fin since then.

But I have lost my HP Startup logo with options such as below:

Enter setup ? Press F10
To restore ? Press F11

Etc etc

Are you able to help me how get my original HP BIOS screen back please? ... Read more

A:Lost my HP Touchsmart LOGO since I lost resetted my BIOS (I guess)

See if this helps you get that back,

I have been infected with something for a few weeks now. When I was first infected one of those fake antispyware boxes popped up along with a hard drive failure icon. This virus has wiped out all of my pictures and files and redirects me everytime I search on the intenet. I have tried malwarebytes, avg scan, system restore, using the notepad and deleting host files then reseting my internet explorer settings ect... Nothing is working. I have attempted to read a few posts here and am obviously too computer illiterate to do anything further on my own. Any help would be greatly appreciated!Edit: Moved topic from Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

This problem has occurred "somewhat"(I don't know when exactly) recently. I used to be able to play full screen games just fine but now (for some reason), everytime I launch a full screen game, it auto minimizes.

When I alt+tab back(or click the game icon on the task bar), it remaximizes the game but quickly gets minimized after a second.

Games play fine while in "windowed" mode(Warcraft 3, etc).. Full screen keeps minimizing.

I use Windows Vista Ultimate (64 bit):

Nvidia GeForce 8300(onboard video card).
I've done scans with Avast, Malware Bytes, and Super Antispyware and they all found nothing.

Three months ago(same system), full screen games played fine however I was on sort of a "full screen" gaming break, so I only recently tried playing full screen games like Warcraft 3 and this is when I encountered the "auto minimizes" problem.

The only major difference(between the time full screen games worked and now) is Avast 5. I upgraded from Avast 4.8 to Avast 5, other than that, there were no other major changes with the computer I am on.

Avast 5 is on Silent/Gaming mode, and I tried disabling all the shields temporarily to see if it would fix the issue but it didn't.

Does anyone have any ideas(or need anymore info that may help)? Any help will be appreciated, thanks.
Edit: I found a solution(though still looking if there is another way to "fix" this issue) - Right click on a program shortcut(or progr... Read more

I got rid of the WildTangent games console that came on my Toshiba computer, however, the games still show up. I have carefully removed registry entries related to it(making a backup of the registry) and they still remain. I have also used Revo Uninstaller Pro and removed what it found. What am I doing wrong, I know they aren't doing me any harm, but they annoy the @!#$$ out of me.

I was under the impression Vista was supposed to automatically download game information from allgame.com and display the game's information when you click on the thumbnail? My Vista hasn't done that since I installed BF2 and I haven't been able to manually add information using VGEE because I accidentally deleted the BF2 information and haven't been able to get another games information to show up since!

A:Games folder doesn't update with information about newly installed games.

It was my understanding that only games with the "Games for Windows" tag will show up in the games folder like you are talking about. I could be wrong tho.

time it will fail at 90%. So What should i do for complete the download

Hi,

I started getting BSOD in August, but I fixed it on Sept 9th by updating my ethernet card. And my computer worked fine until an unexpected shutdown last night which was followed by a bunch of 0x9F problems, then 0x116 when I started up any game. I already did a disk check with /f and /r, and sfc /scannow. I also "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" error in Windows 7 or Windows Vista did this in which I changed the TdrDelay to 8. I had the latest graphic driver, but I went back a version of the driver to see if that solved anything, but it didnt. Attached is a couple of my blue screen reports. Any help is appreciated!

Specs:
? Windows 7 Home Premium x64 (original OS installed)
? It came preinstalled but in December I had to replace the HDD cuz it was failing so I installed it through a disk on my current SSD
? Approximate age of system (hardware): 3 years
? Approximate age of OS installation (if you know): 9ish months
? Have you re-installed the OS?: not for this problem

? CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3720QM CPU @ 2.60GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.6GHz
? Video Card: nVidia GeForce GTX 675M
? MotherBoard: MS-1762 BSS-0123456789 REV:1.0
? Power Supply - brand & wattage: Delta Electronics (idk how many watts)

Hello, I try to play old and new Games on the HP ZBook 15 G2 but each time between 2 - 15 minutes the Game freezes while the sound is still playing for at least 5 minutes until I can play further. It seems like the graphics card is buffering something like on a Video stream until I can continue playing. The Games work perfectly before and after this kind of game freeze. Is this a known issue? What could be the issue? Usually Games should either lag, being slower with less fps, have screen tearing, etc. but somehow buffer a Game for minutes until it works completely fine again is new to me. The same Games work on a much less performant HP 840 G1 Notebook but of course I need to turn down the graphics options depending on the Game. What is also odd it seems in general there are issues with using ALT+TAB to get to Windows while in a Game which works fine on my other PC. Hardware: Intel Core i7-4810MQ CPU, 16GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 4600 and NVIDIA Quadro K2100M What I tried:I installed the latest Windows 10 64-Bit Version with all updates, used the HP Support Assistant Tool to install every Update it found. After the issue still there I later tried to install the latest Intel Graphics Driver from the Intel website (20.19.15.4483 from July 2016), the latest Nvidia Driver from the Nvidia website from the stable branch 21.21.13.7563 from October 21st 2016. Tried to disable the internal Intel Graphics Card but e.g. Battlefield 1 is then compla... Could anyone help me with this? I'll experience random, what seems to feel like, lag spikes, which aren't actually lag spikes while playing games. I'd be playing in offline mode against the computer and I'd have smooth gameplay for minutes before hitting this "lag spike" which would last minutes before it goes back to normal gameplay for a few minutes and then back to a lag spike, and this cycle would continue. This is for games that are extremely below my computer specs as well, so far, this has occurred with TF2 and alien swarm. my drivers are all updated, is this perhaps a software problem since problems with playing games only occurred once i went from windows XP to windows Vista months ago.

I just updated and rebuilt my PC and have reinstalled Win 7 64 bit and am constantly getting a BSOD while using the PC. Specifically while downloading/installing/playing games. I have also had the error occur just while surfing the internet.
From the program Blue Screen Viewer it seems to be caused by ntoskrnl.exe+7f1c0 and/or ntoskrnl.exe+7e769
I can not find any solution to fix this issue, I have updated drivers, I have ran the Microsoft memory checker, , I have changed out my memory, tried 2 other video cards, tried two different wireless network cards, now on wired connection, I even changed motherboards, got the errors on both SSD and HDD. The only things I haven't changed out is the PS and CPU, since I am using the PC to write this I am ruling out the CPU as the issue.

I have used Memtest86 and prime95 to test the memory and CPU, nothing is coming back with errors or issues. I did run driver verifier and got two .dmp files for some specific files but not sure what to do with those now. They are included in the attachement

It seems to be software/driver issue but I can not figure it out.

Any help would be great, thanks!

What is the asushwio.sys file?

Does anyone know how to keep the Vista Games Explorer from automatically adding entries for games? I currently have a completely empty VGE and upon launching any of my games via double-clicking their exe, VGE creates a new entry once the game is closed. I already unchecked both "Download information about installed games" and "List most recently played games" in the VGE options window but that didn't help. I have a third party program that lets me add my own custom entries so obviously I'd like to add them manually so I have more control over fine details. I know that the automatically-created entries can be hidden after the fact, but that really clutters up the third party editor since it displays all games in its list, hidden or otherwise. Any thoughts?

Hi,

I configured a wireless network in my house a few days ago. I am using a D-Link DIR-300 Wireless router.

Everything has been working perfectly for 2 days until just an hour ago.

Suddenly the wireless connection was lost (no internet and no connection to router possible anymore via wireless), then Vista automatically tries to reconnect --> with success. connection is there again --> everything working fine for a few minutes --> then connectin gets lost again --> reconnect and so on.

I have tried it with a different Notebook and the same problem is there also. When the connection gets lost, it is on the other notebook lost also.

What could the cause for this be?

Dear Forum

After constant stress with online software changing my PC settings (adobe one of many) I wanted to separate my main computer from the internet. This I tried. I turned off broadband. I then removed all my browsers, virus and malware protection and gave my hard-drive a bit of a "spring clean". Trouble is, I am no longer able to use Excel 2007 Hyperlink. If I click on a Hyperlink I get the message "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator".

I have googled the problem and was led to slipstick.com/problems/link_restrict.htm and the solution to the lost Hyperlinks was due to me deleting my browsers. I reloaded google, downloaded and ran the wrong version of Internet Explorer 11. I Have Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and I installed EIE11_EN-US_WOL_WIN764.EXE. IE has installed but its invisible. It is not in my control panel/ programs. I tried to install the correct IE but I have remove the wrong one first. I am assuming I will have to remove the renegade IE manually.

All help appreciated.

My spring clean involved deleting a lot of the Appdata Local and Roaming folders.

Regards

Daniel

I promise I won't ever try to separate my PC from the master ever again, I just want to use my Excel; its my living.

Hi,

Complete novice running Windows XP (don't know which Service Pack but Windows Update is automatic so up to date). Antivirus - AVAST free edition.

First symptom was being unable to access internet or anything via My Computer. Initial reaction was to do System Restore but this was not available either. Thought about Conficker but thought perhaps not as symptoms don't really tally. Could not run antivirus so decided to run removal tool to be on the safe side. Downloaded onto son's laptop and copied to pendrive, but poorly computer could not find drive.

After searching web, looked like problem could be explore.exe but not savvy enough to know what to do about it so followed instructions at

Once it had restarted, I'd then lost taskbar. I've got wallpaper and screensaver and that's it
I've tried ctrl esc and the windows key but no luck

If anyone can help that would be great

Giving up for this evening before I hit the **** computer

Thank you !!!!
