Media Player has stopped playing .ts files

Q: Media Player has stopped playing .ts files

I've not long had Vista (Home Premium) and the windows media player that came with it used to play the .ts files that I'd exported from my digibox hard drive. Then - for apparently no reason - Media Player decided that it was no longer going to open the files, not even the ones that it had opened previously. It came up with the cood1199 error, but I don't understand why it's stopped playing them as it used to. It's infuriating. I don't want to have to download another program to play them when Media Player should - as it *did* - play them. Is there anything that I can do to get it to play what it used to play?

Have you tried a system restore back to when you know this worked or is this to far in the past? Have you tried to play the files with something like Realplayer. I know that you want to use WMP long term but this would confirm that it is a WMP issue.

Also found this link if it helps.

Hello there guys, I am having a real problem with my Windows Media Player 11 playing .avi files.

My digital camera records videos and they have played on my machine with WMP no problem at all until yesterday. When I click on the file to play it it says "Window Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file. For additional assitance, click Web Help."

I have had had a good around and I can't resolve this problem. The problem seems to have occured since I installed DivX Player, Codec etc.. (the installer package). Since then I have tried uninstalling it to go back to how it was and also tried doing a system restore to the point before but still the same problem.

Don't know what to do but this problem also effect Windows movie maker, it won't player the avi files in there either, please help.

Hi All

I was running MP9 and a few days ago it refused to play avi's recorded by my digital camera. It will play avi's fromother sources, DVD's etc but not my camera avi's. It playe dthem perfectly until a few days ago.

Same with PowerDVD. It will play everything, no problem, except for these few avi's.

I downloaded and ran GSpot over the suspect avi's to see if there was a codec problem but they all rendered OK and GSpot said they should play OK with the existing setup. Finally I uninstalled MP9 and installed MP10 but there is no change.

The error message I get on MP is "Unknown Error" with a code. Not surprisingly M'soft don't provide much assistance. I see from this and other forums that MP suddenly refusing to play avi's isn't at all uncommon. Can someone please offer suggestions on how/why and how I go about fixing this.

Thanks very much.

A:Media Player stopped playing some AVI's

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the camera software. A codec may have been installed by that installation. Anything unusual in the right-click properties of those files?

A general-purpose codec that will play most avi's is the DirectShow ffdshow:

Hi All,
I have just bought a new machine with Vista Home Premium and it is running great but is not playing video files. I can hear the audio but no video. This happens regardless of whether it is playing inmedia player, or I am creating a DVD in pre installed movie maker or DVD Maker.

Is it just a codec pack or driver files it might be missing... or some other nasty?

Thanks in advance.... Beagleboy.

A:Playing DVD and AVI files in Media Player

You could be missing a CODEC, what type of file is it? This utility can tell you: http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

There's also a chance that the video card driver needs to be updated, there's lots of little glitches with display drivers at the moment.

My uncle got DSL a couple of months ago and I've downloaded several large and small video clips and saved them to cd-rw's so that I could bring them home and put them on my computer, but I've encountered a problem when I try to view some of the clips. Some clips say ANOBOLIC when I try to open them and they won't play on either my laptop or my desktop pc, but I can open and view them fine on my uncle's computer. What do I need to download to fix this problem?

The other problem that I am having is that I saved some video clips that range from 15 to 30 minutes, and when I put the cd in either my laptop or desktop pc a couple of the clips say that they are 1 or 2 minutes when they are really 15 to 30 minute clips. I try to play them and they play for 1 or 2 minutes pause at the end and then move to the next clip, and when I fast forward the clip I am able to see some more of what wasn't shown in the first 1 or 2 minutes but it won't finish playing the whole clip. Again, I am able to view all of the clips perfectly on my uncle's computer.

At first I thought that the problem was with the cd-rw's, but since they work fine on my uncle's computer I have to believe that it is a problem with the media player. I've tried playing them with Realplayer and a couple other media players, but I keep having the same problem. I download my Audiobooks from Audible.com into Windows Media Player and then burn to CD using Nero. However if I want to hear them directly from my computer I find I can not play the files. Is this not an anomoly? If they can be downloaded why can't I play them? Is there a codec I can install?

Hello,

I have a memory card camcorder that records video as .ASF files (MPEG4 I think too) and until now have had no problem playing back the video files that I have recorded.

I've recently had to do a full system wipe of my computer due to various issues. Now I have a bang up to date version of Windows Media Player 10 as well as all the codecs packs. However the .ASF videos just won't play properly, the videos stop and start every second with huge gaps in between each frame. Windows Media Player also crashes with playing these files, I tried RealPlayer which also delivers exactly the same results.

I'm totally stuck with what to do,

Thanks for any help you will be able to give me in advance,

Martin

A:Trouble playing ASF files and Windows Media Player

Sounds like it might be a codec problem. Do a google search for a program called gspot (you can guess why I won't do one at work -.-;; ) It opens a file and reads what codec's its trying to use. Giving that output about the audio and video codec would let us know what those files are using in particular and can hunt down a way to fix it.

Got a new computer at work (Dell Optiplex 760 w 3.25 GB RAM - running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3). When I try to play my music files (originally downloaded from purchased CD's on my old computer) on this new computer through Windows Media Player the sound is stuttering. Randomly. My IT dept. can't figure it out. I was running WMP v. 9 and today I updated to v. 11. It doesn't matter. Still stuttering. I have little Bose desktop speakers. When I go into the control panel on my computer and click on the "sounds and audio devices" icon it says SoundMax HD Audio. I'm assuming that's the sound card? The music files are local on my hard drive. It's driving me crazy....and I'm not a sophisticated computer user. Help. Thank you.

Hi ellisd5, as far as i'm aware Divx is not Vista compatible but don't quote me on that. Best thing I can suggest is to download and install the latest stable release of K-Lite codec pack as that may restore normal functionality to your avi files (be sure to remove any currently installed codec packs first though).

An odd thing happened the other day, I shut down my pc after watching a few movies. When I started it the next day Media player would no longer play video files, or audio files. When I click on a file to play, media player loads but it just sits there, and the wee Widgit on the side bar shows that it's using 50/60% of the processor.... Ive looked into reinstalling the player bur most sites state that its basicly built into vista and a reinstall of the OS will fix it, but thats to much hassle. The audio and Video files work on other players, I.E. Zoom Player and Quicktime.
But I Love to use Media player, The way you can just select several Vids, right click and add to player list.
I've downloaded all the updates that windows update suggests,

Anything you guys can suggest will be greatly appreciated

Why not try a system restore, since you said it was working before, its helped me a lot when something goes wrong with my pc, which will restore your system to an earlier time, its like a time machine, just go to-Start-Type in start search: system restore, click on that-then click on: choose a different restore point-then just click on an earlier time before this problem happened, It'll usually fix your problem, has for me.
Tell me how it goes,

Hi, I listen to internet radio and watch internet tv (streamed) through Media Player. A few weeks ago I could suddenly not listen to radio anymore, fortunately the site lets me choose between different players so I can still listen through Quicktime. Yesterday afternoon I watched a television show without problems but when I tried it yesterday evening all of a sudden it didn't work anymore. Unfortunately this site (nor all the other ones) does not give me the option to choose another player. I tried it again this morning but it still didn't work. I've tried it on another pc and it worked just fine.

What has happened to my pc and how can I solve it...?

Any comment is appreciated!

Hi all,
I have been happily using Windows Media player 11 for nearly a year (since I purchased my Toshiba Tecra laptop) until about a week ago when it told me it encountered a problem while playing the file. Now I can't get audio from many other programs that use WMP as their audio player. So I thought I would uninstall and reinstall and it might be fixed!! No such luck. It actually doesn't uninstall - it rolls back to MWP10. And then you don't get an option to uninstall WMP10.

Since then I have tried a few things including installing another player -GOB - which didn't work either. It said something about needing DirectX7.0 or higher but I have v.9 installed so I'm not sure what's going on.

So far I've spent about 2 hours trying to read Tech support forums and the Microsoft knowledge base and no one seems to have any idea how to fix this.

Can anyone offer any suggestions? I'm hoping I don't have to reinstall Windows XP to get it working again...

Thanks in advance...

Using Viista 32 bit. I purchased a turntable device with softare to transfer my vinyl LPs to the pc and then able to copy them to CD,
I loaded he software and started the first record.when the recording ended,i tried to play it back with the media Player but even though the file was showing in my music file,it would not play. After searching for a solution I discovered that the Media player was not respondin at all. I opened upMy Computer, located the file a selected play but nothing happened. Then I put a prerecorded Music CD in the drive and that too failed to come up in Autoplay and would not play if tried manually. I then tried DVD drive -that too would not read the disc. Uninstalled the new software, cleaned the registry with Registry Mechanic and tried System Restore, that too is not responding. If I select it,nothing comes up on the screen. If I try to run "rstrui.exe it comes up with ammessage that System Restore is already working.
Two problems - I feel thatbthey are related. Can anybody help me please ?
By the way.the turntable has been returned to the shop and I got a full refund.

When I try to use the windows media player I get the message that this has stopped working and windows are searching for a solution and will close the programme.  No solution seems to be found and I thought I would be able to uninstall or maybe get the option to repair this programme but it doesn't show in the uninstall list in the control panel.

A:Windows Media Player Has Stopped Working

Hi, mmcraig, and welcome to the forums.

I think you're missing an update somewhere - for example SP1....

My version is 11.0.6001.7000....

If you're hellbent on not installing SP1, then all I can suggest is to uninstall *all* codec packages that you might have installed, reboot into Safe Mode, then run SFC /SCANNOW, then reboot, then install Vista Codec Pack - 32bit & 64bit Media Player Codecs as you *only* codec package (note, there are two parts, the standard Vista Codec package, and the x64 components, which you install *after* VCP).

i have been happily burning and burning away my cds for some time. i have been getting dowload music and i have imported music into the windows media player via cds .

a few days ago i downloaded some audio material i had paid for and it is licenced to be burned to cd. after some password hitches the downloaded music was played in window media audio file format.

1)i then attempted to burn cds from this licenced download and windows told me that "you have an error with your system and i don't know what it is". well it does't say it quite like that, but according to the microsoft help centre it calls it an unclassified error.

2)Now i find though i do not know if it is related to point 1 , that every single wma file in the windows media library cannot be burned to a conventional cd. i have quite a library of files and now i cannot make cds out of any of them. what is going on??
3)To solve the problem i have downloaded all available updates from microsoft for windows media player 10.

i have also downloaded an attempted to use freeware cd burning programs other than windows media player. i am prevented from using them because i am being told that the windows media audio files are not appropriately licenced.

i have antvir software for viruses and that is updated daily. i use the windows firewall and i am signed up for automatic updates from windows. i also run spybot regularly.

lastly i have tried lowering the burn speed for cd burning.

Hi folks,

I have been using WMP since Windows 7 and although it has some faults I am used to it and it does what I need it to do. A week (maybe more?) ago it just stopped working ... completely

When I open the program I get the Welcome to Windows Media Player dialogue box with tick boxes to choose custom or recommended settings. Whichever I click on it just comes back to the same screen again.

I've tried Groove Music but it's pants - doesn't find all my music, adds loads of stuff to the bottom of lists, etc. - and anyway I want the programe I want <stamps feet>

I have tried to disable WMP in Programs & Features and then re-enabled it (shutting down fully in between) but that didn't do anything and now I'm stumped. I have two PCs and both are the same!

Ideas, anyone?

When I realized I did not want this program, I deleted it. There was a message not to do it--that it would block other users from logging onto the computer (Which is a violation of the anti-trust laws) however, I did not listen and deleted the entire program from the program files. Now I cannot get any music from the radio site and it has blocked real player. MSN should be sued again.HELP!!!

Hi everyone!

When I find a media file (video file, for example) and double click it, the Media Player doesn't start at all...

I tried to re-associate the Windows Media Player to it's default media extensions through "Default Programs" , and it doesn't work...

All media files play normally on other players. I have to state that sometimes I get the message: "The file.... The parameter is incorrect".

Any help would be greatly appreciated. God bless guys! Take care!

Hi Everyone,

I am in the process of organising a playlist of music videos for my works Christmas Party. This year I want to do something really special in the form of streaming the music videos from one (host) computer to several (guest) computers using VLC Media Player.

Here is a link to the method that I am using to Stream music videos -

https://www.evernote.com/shard/s278...999ab741c93f/5e344d246d17fcd8415e999e4cb175b1

I have decided on the HTTP method of streaming because this appears to be relatively simple to setup, and effective for reaching multiple clients.

However immediately I have noticed a number of caveats -

1). Media doesn't always play at the same time on all clients. I would like all music videos to play in sync (ignoring potential network 'lag' issues)

2). VLC gets stuck with the Playlist of music videos that I have created; it plays the first music video on each of the clients, but once the first music video comes to an end VLC stops playing altogether.

* In some instances it just stops, and provides no on screen messages
** In other instances it pops up a box which I have come to believe is related to missing codecs (even though the 'server' and all 'clients' have exactly the same codec packs installed).

I am looking for some tips on the optimum way to stream music videos (in a variety of formats, e.g.: avi, flv, mpg, mpeg). Ideally I need to setup several hours of music videos and just hit the 'play button&... Read more

This subject is against forum rules. You will not get any assistance. Please read the rules:

Circumventing Copy Protection - While we believe it's reasonable to make backup copies of CDs and DVDs that you own, a lot of people break copy protection for the wrong reasons. The law is still vague, at best, as to if it is legal to break copy protection in order to make such a backup, even for personal use. (The DMCA, for example, seems to make it illegal.) As a result, we do not allow discussion of how to break copy protection at this time. If we can find a nice way to draw the line, we may reconsider this in the future as laws get sorted out.Click to expand...

Hi there,

I'm having problems with playing DVDs. When I try to play a DVD, the size of the picture is about 20% or less of the size of my screen. I've tried checking the fit player to video on restart and fit video to player on resize when right-click on the video but no luck.
I've also tried changing the video size manually from 100% to 200% and it makes very little difference to the size of the picture which remains very small.
Also if I insert a DVD, when I go to my computer and double click DVD drive to play the DVD, the media player automatically starts in full-screen mode but the picture is still very small. I think this has something to do with the problem. Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Nick.

I recently installed a DVD burner on a computer with windows xp home sp2. When I try to play dvd's in windows media player I get this message:

Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. You might need to adjust your Windows display settings. Open display settings in Control Panel, and then try lowering your screen resolution and color quality settings.Click to expand...

Of course doing those things doesn't fix anything.

Any suggestions?

A:Windows Media Player Playing DVD's

The message is kind of strange -- but the bottom line is that Windows Media Player has never come with the mpeg-2 decoder needed for playing DVDs.

For this you must have a 3rd party player installed such as PowerDVD-- or if you don't care about using WMP -- you can view just about anything in VLC: >>

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

To check whether Windows already has the required decoder, use this:

Over the past couple days my computer stopped playing any videos in windows media player. It's always played any/all types of video files (wmv, mpg, etc..) just fine up until a couple days ago when the video stopped showing. The audio plays just fine, just no video. It doesn't matter what the video format is, and the files also play OK in winamp and/or nero showtime.
I've updated to the most recent k-lite codec packs and that didn't help. I've tried to download and re-install WMP 11 but MS recognizes that I already have the most recent player.
I've tried going into Tools -> Options, Performance tab and changing the video

Is there some way of running a repair to it? I dug around some but haven't found anything anywhere on my machine that allows me to do anything to wmp.
Also, I'm holding off upgrading to windows 7 on this machine until this issue is resolved, but do ya suppose it may get fixed during the upgrade if I went ahead with it?

Thanks...

Doesn't seem to be possible to uninstall WMP 11 in Vista.

Do you have a restore point to roll back to.

You could try posting in the Windows Vista forum.

If you look in the Windows 7 forum, the general consensus seems to be that a complete install of Windows 7
is preferable to any kind of 'upgrade'.

I had an issue with WMP that was solved by removing it from the Windows Features/Media features (unchecking the box seen in your post), restarting, and then re-enabling it, and then restarting. When I then launched WMP it rebuilt its music library and everything worked correctly. You might give this process a try.

ok (as you my know by know i rarther hate windows media player)

well basicly i have loads of .mp3 files in my Docs and my music folders, there not all music files, when windows media sees them it ads them to libary, Annoyingly, i manages to stop it downloading extra info like album art (cos its soo stupid, it gets it wrong like 95% of the time lol) but it keeps adding every thing back to the libary even if i delete them from it, its soo annoying any!! surgestions please?

A:Solved: Stop Windows Media Player Automaticly ading media files to libary

In WMP go to Tools > Options and uncheck all the boxes in the Player tab, Privacy tab and Library tab.

In the Library tab click on Monitor Folders and set the top part to "My personal folders", then click on Advanced Options.

Set all the folders to "Ignore". Unfortunately you can't set the Rip folder to "Ignore" so for that go to the Rip music tab, where it says "Rip music to this location" click on Change and create an empty folder somewhere. Then just never add any music files to that folder.

Then delete everything out of the WMP library and it should remain empty.

Hi, I am having a problem with Media Player and have tried everything I can think to remedy the issue short of reinstalling Windows XP.

Whenever I try to play a video file in Media Player 10 I get an error that says "Windows Media Player has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
There is no error code that I can tell. The error signature says
AppName: wmplayer.exe AppVer: 10.0.0.3250 ModName unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: e991403

The weird thing is that it will play audio files fine. I also have media player 6.4 on the computer (it seems like it is installed when you install Media Player 10) and if I go into the MediaPlayer directory and open that program and open video through it then the video works fine. Video also works fine in every other video program that I run. I also tried rolling back media player to version 9, and I still get the problem.

I know I can use other programs for video but I have a hard time playing internet videos since Media Player isn't working.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there rathofman,

this sometimes happens if the server is busy, it may be an idea to completely clear your internet cache, history, cookies etc then go back to the page. If the same happens, click refresh on the toolbar a few times to see if that loads the clip or not.

Does this happen on all sites with video clips or just some?

When I attempt to play a wmv or wma file it is slow to start playing and while it is waiting I get a message at the bottom left "media Changing" it takes about 20 sec to start. This also happens if I am playing a playlist and skip to the next song - ANY Ideas ???

A:Media player slow to start playing

Found a fix but I don't understand why?
The fix is to go to control panel - sounds - select the speakers I am using - properities - enhancements - disable all enhancements
this fixed it.
I did not have any enhanceents checked -- so I wonder what I disabled??

Oh well I guess another VISTA SECRET .......

windows media player 12 consumes a lot of cpu resource even when it is not playing anything and is minimized.

see below for a snapshot of "Process Explorer" and "wmplayer.exe" process properties"

After this, if i kill the thread consuming highest cpu then every thing goes back to normal (see below)

please tell me what to do....

Secondly, please let me know how to delete Windows Media player 10 from The folder 'Program files' Thanking U.

You probably need a DVD decoder. You usually get them by installing a commercial player like PowerDVD etc.

Hey. I just installed XP a couple weeks ago, and all of a sudden WMP11 isn't playing any sound when I play DVD's anymore. These are all commercial DVD's I'm trying to play. Other sound and video files work fine, but DVD playback has no sound. I've tried this on a variety of discs with no luck. What the hell happened and how do I fix it?

Note: I already uninstalled and reinstalled WMP.

A:No Sound when playing DVD's with Windows Media Player 11

Well, it's still not working with WMP after re-installing my sound drivers, but I just downloaded VLC and it appears to work with that, so whatever I guess.

Seems like a codec issue. Try installing the k-lite or the divx codec's. Should solve the problem.

Hello,

I have a windows xp pro sp3 with all updates (as far as i know), 2 gb ram, 320 gig hard drive, radeon ati video card (forgot model number), amd 3200+, not sure why i listed my pc specs but ehh why not. anyways the title says it all, but to break it down, the problem is when i go to play my music in windows media player 11, it will make this terrible screaching sound (and thats for all music no matter what file extension it is .avi .wmv .mp3 etc.) after the screaching sound the music will sound very low then slowly it will begin to make the volume louder and louder till it gets to the correct volume setting that you set it (on computer or physically on the speaker). i have tried to see if other media players does this such as quicktime and itunes and they work fine, its only when playing in windows media player does it give me that screach sound at the beginning of everyone music/movie then it sounds low after a few minutes it will get loud again and sometimes get low volume then it will increase the volume, whats the matter anyone? could it be related to Divx, which i do have it installed on my machine however i am not sure if it all started when i installed divx, wasnt really paying attention nor was i using windows media player when i installed divx, please help its really annoying and would love to get this fixed.

Thank you

Let's find out for sure.

Start > Control Panel > Automatic Updates
Click the link for "Windows Update Web site".
Click the Custom button

What results do you get?

First, try removing Windows Media Player (WMP) 11 in Add/Remove Programs, then reinstall it. Does the problem continue?

If so, try removing DivX. I do not think it is causing the problem, but could not hurt to try. Does it still continue?

I am trying to play my Napster tracks with windows media player 12, every time I try a track the player pops up but seems unable to obtain a licence. Web help only brings up a page suggesting that my audio drivers maybe out of date or not installed. I have checked these and can’t find a fault. I even tried installing my old SoundBlaster card that I had on my old pc that ran Vista still the same error “Windows Media Player C00D11B1”. Anyone know if something has changed in windows media player 12 that is causing this problem? The tracks are downloaded to this pc via Napster on a subscription basis. While I had the Soundblaster card in I tried Soundblasters own media player and they played ok, but had to uninstall as the program slowed the computer down.

Hello all,

I am having alot of problems with WMP, I have various amounts of video clips, some work perfectly, and a few others don't. Thing is, is I formatted my PC not long ago, and i had my media saved on my xtra drive, and before i formatted, everything worked perfectly. Now, after formatting and putting all my media back on, certain clips won't play properly.

The audio will play, but the video doesnt show. I went on the windows support site, found alot of solutions, but not for WMP 10, and all the solutions for that version arnt working.

I tryed reinstalling, updating e.tc. but still, no luck.

Anyone have any idea of what I can do, any help is greatly appreciated

Recently I have started having problems playing DVDs in Windows Media Player 11.

Discs that previously played without any problem now do not play smoothly at all and seem to "stutter".

CDs appear to play OK - although, having said that, I am not sure they are playing as smoothly as they used to. It could be my imagination but I am sure there is a discernible change on live CD recordings where one track runs into another.

I have completely uninstalled and re-installed WMP 11 and the problem remains the same.

Anything played via Media Center is problem free.

I only purchased my laptop in November 2006 and am a bit of a novice so this might be something really simple but I would be extremely grateful for any advice.

Thank you.

I can't seem to figure this one out. Windows media player 9 is freezing and not playing CDs , files or anything at all. We are having trouble with our network here where it sometimes takes a while to get to a website due to a bad decision on hardware. Full duplex does not translate well to half duplex for 20 plus computers. I'm wondering if this is playing a part in WMPs problem of freezing and not playing files or CDs because of not being able to reach out to the net.

Thanks in advance,

Specks

Do you have DVD playing software installed? Windows media player does not have native DVD playing capability and only uses the codec from third party DVD playing utilities to play DVD's.

Hiya

Is this the only site that has this problem? If so, lets try a bit of a cleanup:

Go to Tools | Internet Options. General tab. Under Delete Files, delete offline content

Advanced tab, under Browsing, look for Enable Insta on Demand. Untick.
Under Security, look for Empty Tempory Internet... Tick.
Apply and OK

Go to Run and type MSINFO32
On the left choose Software Enviroment, then Startup Programs. Copy/paste the list here.

I recently got a Zune and for the Zune software to work, WMP needs to work. A few months ago, it stopped playing music altogether. Not one song. It won't even play anything off of a CD, or on the internet. I was probably on the phone with Zune for 7-8 hours for them to tell me they couldn't help me. I was then connected to Microsoft, who told me I could call Acer or pay 60 dollars plus tax to Microsoft for them to help me. I called Acer and they said I would have to pay $60 per 30 mins. I don't have that kind of money right now and i just want my WMP fixed!!
Can someone help me please!!

Welcome
Here's an answer that someone found (seems like alot of trouble to me, syncing music to Att phone then back to,,,,)
http://askville.amazon.com/Zune-Win...edia-player/AnswerViewer.do?requestId=5785573

I suggest reinstalling the Media Player. Click Start, type Turn Windows features on and off

Uncheck the player, apply, restart Windows, recheck, apply, restart Windows.

The above may be a quick fix that won't last though?

Have you tried the free "Jet Player" - there's not much it won't play or burn and it will run circles around WMP.

Hope this helps as it seems you have found what others have - (it may be awhile before Microsoft decides to deal with this issue)

Had to reload my computer (crashed). Anyway, I get all sounds from
my speakers and like news videos, etc., but I downloaded music track,
tried to play it. It plays, but no sounds on both Media Player & Winamp.
My husband did the same thing, his works. I know it's playing, just no
sound.....Thanks!

A:Media Player & Winamp Playing Problem

This may sound a bit duffy, but you say you do have sound except not when palying your downloaded music tracks, wright?
Does it happen anytime you use winamp and/or mediaplayer, or only when playing those tracks?
I'd go check on two things, first the build-in volume settings of your players, or second, the fact your files might have gotten corrupted when your pc crashed.
It's also possible that some level of your players got corrupted when your baby-toy went down.
What was the reason it crashed?
A virus or an OS error?
What where the progs you where running at that moment?

Hey all,
I've got full sound in everything else and the latest sound blaster drivers. I insert a DVD and play it in Windows Media Player or Center and I get no Audio (*shakes head).

I play the DVD in VLC and it plays and sounds fine, but the Quality of the DVD video in VLC blows.

What's the fix (and why does there need to be a fix) for Windows Media Player? You'd think Windows Media CENTER could at least play a DVD...

A:No Sound when Playing DVDs in Media Player

Try removing WMC and reinstalling it. Open "Turn Windows features on or off" and remove it, reboot, and check the box again.

A:Playing Dvds With Windows Media Player 9

We don't help with with illegal stuff here, and DVD ripping is sort of a gray-area. I understand that you own a legal copy of the DVD, but ripping it is still illegal because it uses DeCSS to crack the encryption. So im not sure if I should be helping you here.

That aside, those plugins won't work for you, however PowerDVD will play VOB files for you.

Hello, I'm new here and I hope that I can get this fixed,
um well lets see first I'll start with my problem.
I have Windows Media Player 11 it worked fine for a real long time but recently it finally something happened to it. I can hear sound just fine except that I can see no video at all I've tried different videos and nothing all I get is sound, but the weirder thing is that my Enhancements box is completely blank along with the video it won't show any visualizations either. I tried using Windows media classic and it worked fine I also tried iTunes and it was good. I also checked if it can stream any videos but it won't do either but it will stream on firefox. I'm not quite sure what I can do.
