some dual audio movies playing both audio

Q: some dual audio movies playing both audio

Hello,

i'm using k lite codec pack in my vista home premium.

in some dual audio movies, i can select one audio file from task bar.

but in some movies, it plays both audio files and i cant see option to change audio either in media player classic or in task bar.

any direct solution except reencoding movie file?

A: some dual audio movies playing both audio

In Media Player Classic I had this with a couple of files. If you use the Haali renderer you can select the sound track from the notification icon in the task bar.

I have the Avivo codes pack and I am getting an audio delay when watching videos off my HD. At first the movies are fine then as I get into them a bit there becomes a delay in the audio. The delay is about one second. To fix it I find all I need to do is pause the video, skip ahead or skip back, then return where I left off and play it again. That fixes it for about 15 minutes. Anyone know what’s going on?

Looking a your configuration the available memory should not be a problem. This came from here Hmmm ... I played around a bit with the AVIVO codec that is installed by the tool. The ATI MPEG Decoder filter only seems to support MPEG-2 and DivX at this time. MPEG-1, XVid and WMV files still play back via their appropriate decoder filters even when you lower their merits to 00200000 ("don't use"). . Besides the Avivo codec what more do you have on codecs on yur system?

My desktop keeps stuttering every few minutes or so. I have all of the drivers up to date and I cannot figure out what is wrong. The problem occurs the most while watching Netflix and playing games, but happens pretty regularly in general.

Asus p8p67 deluxe
Asus Engtx 570

Hi,

I would suggest you to check the performance in “Safe mode with networking”.

Run the Windows Audio Playback Diagnose and Repair from the below MS FIX-IT: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/AudioPlayback/

You can even try running Microsoft Fix IT’s from the URL mentioned below according to the issue:
http://support.microsoft.com/fixit/

If this issue started occurring after doing some recent software changes on your computer, then I would suggest you to restore your system back to a date when it was working fine. System Restore will affect Windows system files, programs, and registry settings only.

Hope this helps.

In Mac OS Quick time does this (I can have 10 audios all playing simultaneously). WMP nor VLC seem capable of this.

I need a solution to this for both Linux/ubuntu and Windows 7. Maybe there's a way to customize vlc or wmp?

Thanks.

I noticed that very occasionally, my computer will hang. Nothing will respond, not even Ctrl+Alt+Delete, and the only way out of it is to force a shut down by holding down the power button.

I also noticed that this has always occurred when audio is playing. The audio will loop infinitely once the computer hangs. Sometimes, when I hold down the power button for a while, the system will unhang. Other times it will not.

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit SP1
Sound card: Realtek ALC662
I should also mention that the machine is a laptop!

I can't update to the latest Realtek drivers because that causes the sound to start crackling and fizzing really badly (stupid bug). I also don't have any minidumps as the computer doesn't get a BSOD, it just hangs and I have to force shutdown.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem or what I can do to help you solve this problem?

Audio cd's stop playing after a minute + also having trouble ripping audio cd's to my computer.

I need some help and not sure what to do next? Seems this problem is common but I can't seem to get it down. I'm far from a expert so please help me...

My dad has a Compaq presario SR5550f w/ Vista 32bit w/ service pack 2 up to date.
When he try's to play audio cd's he get's this message.

Windows Media Player cannot read the CD. The disc might be dirty or damaged. Turn on Error correction, and then try again.

CD player plays only 1 minute and 3 seconds before error-ing out (although still plays DVDs). So, I thought Ok, let me rip his music and he can play off his comp. But when I try to rip audio it's goes about 20% and gives me a read error.

So, I turned on Error correction and nothing.

Seen in a few forums that I should update the drivers.

I uninstalled the burner driver from the device manager and nothing still.

I updated his Nvidia graphics driver just fine but it didn't find any thing for the motherboard?

I also updated his audio driver from the hp website.

So, after all that I thought maybe it's a hard ware issue? So, I changed out this burner for a new one and it still does the same thing?

have tested other cd-rs & retail audio disc. For some reason it's just audio's and ripping?

The other day he watched a whole dvd movie just fine!

I'm gussing it's a driver ... Read more

Hello,

Starting about a week ago whenever any audio is being played through my computer (speaker or headphone) I will hear a buzzing sound and occasionally the audio with skip. This happens weather I am playing audio that is being streamed from the internet or that is on my computer directly.

I have tried several things to fix this problem including installing all windows updates that are available as well as updating my audio drivers.

I am running windows 7 home premium 64 bit. My computer model is hp pavilion dv7t quad 6100 and I have IDT high definition audio codec driver version 6.10.6381.0 which my computer says is the latest driver version. Updating to this version has not solved the problem, however.

Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated. If there is additional info that is neccesary, please let me know and I will post it.

A:IDT High Def Audio, buzzing sound when playing any sort of audio.

Unplug the speakers from the PC and see if you still get the buzz with headphones. Some "buzz" problems can be related to "AC power ground loop" problems if some separately powered devices are connected.

Noise and skipping are problems that have been posted here before. There is no "one fix" for that. There are possible hardware problems, drivers (including video drivers), Interrupt issues, Wi Fi caused, etc.

Skipping can be because the other device that is on the shared Interrupt that the sound is on is interrupting the sound. Sound is always on a shared interrupt (IRQ) with a higher priority device. You can try this: go to the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the entry for the IDT and then LEFT click "Uninstall". DO NOT check the box to uninstall the drivers. Then restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect the sound and reinstall it and some times put it on a different shared IRQ.

Hello everyone. I am using a old-ish Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista. So, every time I'm playing songs on YouTube, then open FL Studio 10, FLS 10 won't let me play or record any audio. When I look at the "ASIO4ALL" box it has A little red "X" on audio output(I use "Realtek HD Audio" if that helps). Now when I stop the internet audio/YouTube and restart FLS 10, the little red "X" is gone and all the sound works... I was wondering how to play Internet audio while playing or recording audio on FL Studio 10 is there something I can tweak with the laptop audio or some better sound program I can download free(or not free)and not have to get a new sound card??? Thank you for your time. Peace.

A:How to play Internet audio while playing or recording audio on FL Studio 10

Please use the font I've changed your post to above. Otherwise, apart from hurting the eyes of the reader, you'll seem to be like shouting.

Recording from youtube, be it whole clips or the audio track, is against youtube's TOS.

I updated from XP sp3 to Win7 home premium. ITunes always sound fine and some movies play okay but most sound muffled or boomy. I have acreative SB X-fi unit. I got the latest drivers. I installed a codec pack but it may not be the right ones loading. Any ideas? If there is a way to find out what codec is being used or 'asked' for then I may be able to find a commonality and go from there. BTW this happens for various movie extensions ranging from FLV to AVI to MPG so it isn't that.

When I try to open some of my video files (both AVI and MPEG), instead of the video, songs start to play. I think it's a playlist that gets opened, because music continues to play for the entire length of the movie I was trying to open. No video opens at all. I've tried opening the videos with different programs, so I know it's the files themselves that have somehow gotten confused with music. I really need to figure this out, because all of my home movies have been corrupted. Any suggestions? If you have a solution, it'd be great if you could email me at noc_her@yahoo.com, or at least post a replay. Thanks a bunch, everybody.

A:My movies got converted to audio playlists

Are you saying that all you hear is the audio of the movie your trying to play ?

If so it is a codec issue. Download Ace Mega Codec Pack

That should solve your issue. If not try playing your movie file in the VLC Player.

If neither of the above fixed your problem please elaborate a bit more on your current situation.

Welcome to TSG...
What file type are you currently having trouble playing? What are your system specs?

VLC player plays everything so if you dont hear any sound I can only assume..

1. The File has No Sound

2. Your system is configured to play sound through a different device. (go to control panel sound)

Hi,
I have an Acer Aspire 6920 running Vista home premiumx64 with a Slim Type DVD DS8A1P ATA drive. Recently this drive stopped reading all data discs, game dvds and some install cds. It will however read music cds with no problem. When I put any data disc in it just keeps attempting to run in short bursts for a couple of minutes then completely stops. Device mgr. says it is working properly. If I attempt to open the drive in "computer" it pops the tray open and says to insert a disc. No error messages at anytime. I have tried numerous things people have suggested such as deleting the values in the registry, removing the drive in device mgr. and restarting as well as updating the driver as some have suggested.

I have the Full version of FRAPS and I thought this would fix the annoying audio problem.

The problem is there is no audio! When I record in-game videos I can't hear anything! With both San Andreas and Farcry!

I have a crappy Onboard AC'97 Sound that came with my EPOX mobo and I have a DSP-500 Plantronics USB headset, Fraps Detects both of them and I have switch to both of them in default and stereo mix, still no SOUND! I have no SOund Card, do I need one? Iam getting frustrated! I spent $37 on a peice of crap!

A:Having Trouble with FRAPS Audio recording in Movies!

I wouldn't say you bought a piece of crap, more like downloaded one. It's Frapps that is causing the issue here because it doesn't work well with USB. I have the same problem, whenever I record a game the audio never arrives. This is because Frapps puts USB ahead of all the traditional audio sound cards and jack headsets. Stupid I know.

So to solve it you have to take out your USB headset whilst playing, so you'll hear no audio while playing, but you'll get the audio from Frapps that you wanted. If you don't like this then you can buy a super cheap (presumbly rubbish) headset that uses jacks and plug that in whenever you record, this way you'll get the recorded audio and you'll hear it too, unless the headset you bought was so pathetic that your ears started bleeding in which case your out of luck. (That probably won't happen).

So I have been having this problem on and off for about a year now where audio from anything consistent (music, movies, etc) crackles, breaksup, drops, or makes other distorted sounds. To describe this best it is like a note is drawn out for a second or more and makes a distorted sound or sounds are dropped all together resulting in choppiness. The below files are two different recordings of songs played on my computer and kind of what it sounds like.
This problem goes away sometime and my audio doesn't have any problems, and if it does its a minor hiccup here and there. BUt then there are times like recently where you can't go 30 seconds of track without hearing a mass distortion or drop. I dusted out my heatsink and fan to the best of my ability without a dust blaster. It didn't make much difference, the problem did not go away on reboot. The problem used to only happen after extended periods of the computer being running, but now rebooting and even having the computer shutdown for more than 6 hrs does not solve the problem like it used to in times passed. I have reinstalled the HD Realtek audio drivers multiple times to varying degrees of success. It has worked once in the past but not for long. It is not a speaker problem, I have just changed speakers and the problem is universal on both the old ones and the new ones and on my headphones too. I have thought for a while that it was the motherboard, as it is my oldest component (purchased ~Oct 2011) but I so... Read more

Since my other problem was solved i thought it better to make a new post for this although likely related still different issue. As stated in the title the video won't play but if i go into the 2nd disc i can play the audio from the files. The video's are in an .avi format and i can open them with windows media player classic. I have the CCCP codec pack which should let me play most vids. If you need more information just ask though I'm not sure weather to reply or edit this post. I know some files can be fixed by having a program change it's format or try to fix the data but I'm knew to dealing with video files I don't know if this applies or not and if it does how do i go about it.

Edit 1: Well my google search has found a site with a thief FAQ that seems to cover all of my issues and then some. Will post the link for all your thief issues.

A:Solved: Thief gold movies video won't play but can get audio

Well replying to this so others can fix their old game movies that may not play. I tried everything on the previous link and they did not work but I have about five minutes ago fixed it. I went and played other old games so hadn't been looking into this for while. The page that was discussing it is

http://social.answers.microsoft.com...a/thread/09ad3325-ef04-4f32-a888-522703e9dfb8

and the link that had the needed codec is

http://www.cucusoft.com/codec.asp

It's the last one and works for IV50 video types which seem to be "retired" by Microsoft. Hope this will keep others from having to deal with this later on.

Edit 1: Well the movies still won't play in-game any idea's on that? I can still just pull the game down and watch the videos before each mission but it drains some of the fun out of the game.

Edit 2: Yes i have tried all the compatibility settings. I did get the movies to play in game by reinstalling the game but now none of the missions will load I'm looking into that now. When i first got the movies to play there were these multicolored lines screen when loading most area's of the menu. As for the missions they "load" in the mission briefing then when it tries to render it the screen stays black. Hi

I've been stuggling with this for a few hours now and am at the end of my wits..

I've got two audio devices that I would like to link to my PC at once.
I've got one plug connected to the back panel, and one to the front. But one always cuts off the other. In my sound devices, the system registers them both as: "speakers, VIA High Definition Audio, Standard device"

Is there any way that I can connect them both at once, and still have both of them outputting audio?

I hope the internet will save the day!

Many thanks in advance!

Hello. Yesterday, my sound was working fine. Then my computer startedto lose stability after I ended some instances of scvhost.exe that were using 90% of my processor. My start menu bar will suddenly die, and now, even though the Soundmax Digital Audio drivers are installed, when I try to play music nothing comes through. When i go to sounds and audio devices in control panel, it says "No audio device". Help?

A:Audio not playing!

How did you end the Scvhost.exe in the Task manager??

I have windows 98 and the problem that I am having is for some reason out of the blue when I try to play any audio such as cd's or anything like that my windows media player drags like an old record on the wrong speed. even if someone sends me an audio message in dwyco(the video conferencing program I sometimes use) it sounds like it's dragging. as far as I know I didn't install or uninstall anything at the time this happened but I could be wrong.

Did it just start doing this or has it always done it? Also give your computer specs.

I've actually already seen this problem handled here, and while trying to follow of the solutions realized that I might need some personal help. The computer already had a lot of assorted malware that has been (mostly) dealt with with Malwarebytes and Spybot S&D scans, though this problem presists (also, a "MyPC Backup" PUP that's yet to go away as the files that need to be deleted are always in use apparently). My main concern though is the audio issue. It plays sounds from what I assume are ads, before I even have the chance to launch Firefox (I thought it could've just been an ad or hidden pop up window at first). The only thing I've been able to connect it to is the "Name Not Available" option in the audio mixer, which muting causes it to stop, though I'd rather eliminate the problem completely than just muting it and pretending that it's not there. DDS Log:  DDS (Ver_2012-11-20.01) - NTFS_AMD64Internet Explorer: 9.0.8112.16421  BrowserJavaVersion: 10.45.2Run by sheila at 18:26:02 on 2014-01-05Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium   6.1.7601.1.1252.1.1033.18.3032.791 [GMT -6:00].AV: Avira Desktop *Enabled/Updated* {F67B4DE5-C0B4-6C3F-0EFF-6C83BD5D0C2C}SP: Avira Desktop *Enabled/Updated* {4D1AAC01-E68E-63B1-344F-57F1C6DA4691}SP: Windows Defender *Enabled/Outdated* {D68DDC3A-831F-4fae-9E44-DA132C1ACF46}.============== Running Processes ===============.C:\Windows\system32\lsm.exeC:\Windows\system32\svchost.exe -k DcomLaunchC:\Windows\sy... Hello, Zorbis.
My name is etavares and I will be helping you with this log.

Here are some guidelines to ensure we are able to get your machine back under your control.

Please do not run any unsupervised scans, fixes, etc.  We can work against each other and end up in a worse place.
Please subscribe to this topic if you have not already done so.  Please check back just in case, as the email system can fail at times.

Very recently my computer's audio has stopped working.
My headset has a separate microphone and headphone plugin. I use a combiner to put both of them into the computer at once.
Anyway, I cannot hear audio through my headphones, whether I use the combiner or not. I have tried to hear audio of various applications (browsers, Groove music, video games, etc.) and none work. The audio comes out through the computer speakers normally.
I have already restarted my computer and this did not fix the problem.
Does anyone have any suggestions/fixes?

Hi everyone,

First time I've visiting this forum. My computer started playing audio ads a few days ago, I have run every spy/malware program under the sun and nothing is stopping them. I have been advised to run Combofix but thought I would see what the advice here was before I take what appears to be drastic action.

I am not an expert, but not an idiot either. I will be able to follow advice!

Any and all help is very welcome.

Thank you!

Hi Folks,

I do have a small problem with, I think codecs. I have a movie with .avi extension. Now the problem is that there is no audio being played. Other movies are ok, it's just this one that is troublesome. The problem lies in audio codec - see G-spot below:
Please note the Audio information which says:
0x2000 (Dolby AC3) AC3
48000Hz 192 kb/s tot , stereo (2/0)

now another instant of a movie with nearly the same stats is below (audio there is working properly)
0x2000 (Dolby AC3) AC3
48000Hz 384 kb/s tot , 6 chnls (3/2 .1)

Anyone knows how to get the sound working in first example? it seems that codecs are installed, however something is not fully right...

Thanks.

A:No audio while playing avi. in WMP

Download and install the K Lite Codec Pack. It should have any codec that you need.

Hey Everyone,

I have dual monitors with DVI and VGA.
I have Realtek High Definition Audio and want to set up audio throught both. When the second monitors is connected through the rear black port the speakers of the second monitor when tested through setting but do not work when playing audio through a media player.

Any suggestions? I would like both monitors playing audio.

A:Dual Monitors with two audio

The GREEN audio jack is the Speaker jack. If you want audio from both monitors (I assume both monitors have built in speakers) get a "Y" cable, with a 1/8" (3.5mm) stereo plug on one end and two 1/8" stereo jacks on the other end. Plug one monitor into one orf the stereo jacks and the other monitor into the other jack.

I've found that I bit off more than I could chew and overestimated my 'tech savvy-ness' when I bought an HP laptop and did a clean install of windows 7 to get rid of all the bloatware.

I'm having sound issues and I think it may be driver related. Have this HP dv6-3210us

I've gone to the support section of the website and downloaded the audio driver they have listed for my model. When I looked up my devices and drivers, I found that I had two drivers both labeled "High Definition Audio Device" by Microsoft. I ran the setup file that I downloaded from HP support which changed one of the drivers to IDT High Definition Audio Codec, but left the other driver as it was (High Definition Audio Device).

I've noticed that my volume has greatly increased and the sound quality is better, but I'm having some issues with popping and crackling.

First of all, I'm wondering why I have two audio drivers in the first place? And secondly, should they be different drivers or should they be identical?

A:Dual audio drivers?

You remember to install the video driver?

AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver HP Pavilion dv6-3210us Entertainment Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

probably find the second one is for the HDMI audio built into the HD 4250 graphics.

Pretty Basic Example of What I would like. I have my speakers outside hooked up to my computer playing audio through iTunes.

So when I come inside, I would like to use my headphones, but while still playing the audio outside.

It looks like windows only lets me choose one, is their any way to get around this?

A:Set up dual audio on windows 7?

Unless itunes has the option in it somewhere to use other than the Windows default device, no. If it does set the headphones as the default device, and in itunes set the speakers as the playback device.

Hi, I have 2 CD-roms connected to the PC - one as a master, one as a slave. I use two because one is slower and can't handle some of my CD's and vice versa.

The problem I have is with the master drive. It works perfectly with data CD's but with audio CD's it only plays for about seconds, then stops, then plays for another 3 seconds, stops, etc, etc.

Can't work out what the problems is at all.

Any thoughts?

Problem-
My laptop (Averatec 3250 Series) refuses to play dvd audio. I thought it was a device problem, but it will play CD audio (and all other sounds). I've tried multiple dvds (in multiple players), and updating the drivers. I've looked through all of the obvious sound options (system volumes, etc.) and I still can't seem to find the problem.

My sound card is a VIA AC97 Enchanced Audio Controller.

Are you talking about "Audio" DVD's or are you talking about audio from a DVD movie?

I've been reading about some of the new digital boxes like WDTV, but none of them seem to be geared towards audio. What's the best setup for playing my mp3 collection through a home audio system? I'd love to be able to do it through a portable drive instead of my mp3 player, but I also would like playlists. And if I have to do it through a mp3 player, is the audio output a match for the audio system?

About once a day for no apparent reason audio from what sounds like podcasts will play on my laptop which is weird because I don't knowingly download or listen to podcasts at all. One evening a Dave Navarro (gross) podcast played for 40 minutes for no apparent reason. I've looked at the processes and the programs running and I don't see any audio programs open or in the background. Here is the hijackthis logfile for the scan I just did

im getting audio in mono..no stereo..ive narrowed the problem down to the the x64 OS.ive tried the sound card and the firewire card in a different pc with vista x32 and it sounds fine..this is a brand new hard drive, and vista was recently installed..i do remember making a lot of changes in vista after having audio problems with the 1rst hard drive, i was hoping the updates would correct those problems..any thoughts..thank you

A:audio is playing in mono

Hi,

When you say "Mono" that means the same sound out of both speakers or only one channel (L or R)?

I saw this problem was solved many times on the forums, but didn't want to follow the steps in case they were meant only for the other people's unique situations. So I decided to make an account and ask for help.
These ads usually play around 3-4 am, but happen throughout the day and in the volume mixer, its shown its done through chrome. Also recently, chrome has been eating up a lot of CPU usage even when it's not doing anything, so I think thats related.
Used malwarebytes, Kaspersky, doesn't detect anything.
Thanks in advance.

Ever since last night when ever I get on my computer and I connect to the internet audio ads start playing in the background. When ever it starts playing I open Windows Task Manager and go to Processes and go to the process that is causing the ads to play I end it but after a few minutes it starts back up again. I have no idea what to do. I use a Windows Vista Home Basic that's a model Satellite L305. The process that is to the ads is always one of the svhost.exe that has the highest number of CPU Usage out of all of the others. Below is what showed up when I scanned using Hijack This.

Hello MythicG2001 and welcome to TSG,

I'm kevinf80 and I will be helping with any malware issues you may have with your system.
Please be aware that some of the logs I may ask for can be very complex and can take a long time to decipher. I am a volunteer here with a job and family so I ask that you be patient when waiting for replies.
Please DO NOT run any scans/tools/fixes on your own as this will conflict with the tools we are going to use.
Either print or Save to Notepad all instructions and please follow them carefully, if there's something you don't understand or that will not work please let me know and we will go through it together.
Malware is often buggy and can be very unstable, with that in mind it is advisable to backup any important data before we begin. Go Here and follow the instructions specific for your operating system.

Please proceed as follows :-

Delete any versions of Combofix that you may have on your Desktop, download a fresh copy from the following link :-

Combofix
Ensure that Combofix is saved directly to the Desktop <--- Very important

Disable all security programs as they will have a negative effect on Combofix, instructions available Here if required. Be aware the list may not have all programs listed, if you need more help please ask.

First check your audio properties and make sure your balance is centered. Then look at the connector. Maybe it's not plugged in all the way?

Last night some random audio ads started playing on my PC - not from any webpage, but from the PC itself. I ran TDSSKiller but it didn't find anything, I also ran Malwarebytes Anti-malware, which found 11 objects including two Trojans. I quarantined them and deleted them.

I want to make absolutely sure, however, that my PC is free of malware now. I'd be very grateful to anyone who helped me out. I ran a DDS log and the results are as follows:

So basicly I hear audio advertisements playing in the background that talk about buying products, "How I got rich quick", etc...

Somethings to note are Firefox is my default browser I never use Internet explorer.
The Iexplorer.exe process will always run 3 instances of itself even though you cannot see it open, If you try to kill the process it will open back up automatically.
The application tab shows Internet explorer connected to the following website: "http://ib.pixadsserve.com/?s=23327" and will sometime switch to careercast.com.

I have tried MBAM but this thing will not go away. Maybe someone here knows.

Hi guys,

I've read a lot of forum posts on similar problems, but I thought I should post to get a response that's a bit more tailored to my specific situation. Basically I've had this issue for the past couple of weeks where ads will play in the background (whether I'm using the computer or not) and occasionally a window or two with ads or whatever will pop up as well. I have Symantec, but on full scan that hasn't found anything. I've also ran MBAM and Ad-Aware multiple times in both Safe Mode and regular mode, which find tracking cookies and the like but haven't been able to fix the problems despite the most recent updates. Anyway, I'm at my wits end with this and am hoping you guys will be able to find something.

When I play a DVD using InterVideo WinDVD the volume level fluctuates. This only happens when playing a DVD, the volume is consistent when playing a CD.
This leads me to believe the problem is with the InterVideo WinDVD player.
I have looked for driver updates, but none available. I tried to use both Real Player, and Window Media Player. When I try to use these two players, I get a pop-up warning that says:
(DVD is not enabled for this player. Click (ok) to use InterVideo WinDVD player for playback.)
I tried to make the fore mentioned players as the default players, but I don't seem to be able to do that. It's like InterVideo is somehow blocking a change.
InterVideo came with my laptop so I don't want to uninstall it, it does not appear they offer a free version, but I would like to disable it and try another player to see if that eliminates my audio issues. The DVD's play just fine on other equipment.
Any thoughts.

Hi,

Please download Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) to your desktop.
There are 2 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.
You only need to get one of these to run, not all of them. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.
 rKill.exe: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/10/iExplore.exe (renamed rKill.exe): http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/11/
Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.
If using Vista or Windows 7 right-click on it and choose Run As Administrator.
A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully.
If not, delete the file, then download and use the one provided in Link 2.
Do not reboot until instructed.
If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.
After the tool has finished running, a text file named Rkill.txt should be located on the desktop. Please copy and paste the contents into your next reply.

This sounds like a similar problem as others and I suspect we may have gotten a rootkit on the computer. We get random audio sound effects as well as ads play. Also, at times search results seem to be hijacked and send us to other locations.

Please help correct this problem.

Hello! Earlier tonight my computer randomly restarted itself, and afterwards I've been having random audio ads playing in the background. It's not coming from my web browser, and my volume mixer is showing it as "name not available." I downloaded Avast! free and I'm currently running a full system scan, but it hasn't found anything, and the webshield is constantly popping up, telling me it's blocking multiple malware objects that are infecting my System32\svchost.exe. I haven't downloaded anything risky recently that I can remember, but I have streamed tv shows online on project free tv.

I've read a thread on here that had a similar problem and it ended up being a rootkit, and I think that might be the case here .

Any help would be appreciated!

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

My CD-ROM drive used to play audio CD's fine. However, what has been happening recently is that it only plays the very first song of a CD and then it stops. I can't fast-forward through the song either. I've tried multiple CD playing programs and multiple audio discs and it still happens. There is also a rattling noise that occurs when I put a CD in the drive. The system properties section of Windows describes my CD-ROM drive as "LG CD-ROM CRD-8400B". Do any of you possibly know why my CD-ROM drive could be doing this?

Recently, I've been hearing audio ads on my computer. I checked the application tab under task manager and saw one instance of I.E. 11 running which was showing an ad website which would change to another such site and so on and so on. What is disturbing is that I did not have I.E. open. I rarely use it. When I right click on the task and select "go to process" nothing happens. I am running windows 7 and normally I would think this is a virus. I ran AVG and S&D spybot and turned up negative results. however with MS Intrusively pushing win 10 ads via KB3035583. I'm beginning to think MS is responsible for this also. I had to completely uninstall IE 11 and that put a stop to it. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone have an insight into this? If it's MS, then problem solved, If a virus- I need help with this.

Thanks

All steps taken to try and resolve issue can be found at https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/563549/audio-ads-playing-in-background/.

Audio ads play in background at seemingly random times. Whenever the ads play multiple instances of the Iexplorer.exe (you cant see any internet explorer windows) process are found running and sometimes taking up 100k plus memory while playing audio ads.

I will attach 2 sets of DDS logs one for when no audio ads are playing (after computer restart) and another for after the audio ads play.

This has happened twice. My PC has Firefox open... several tabs.

I go away for a few minutes to do something and I start hearing sound...commercials...playing in the background - no video, just sound. None of the tabs have anything like a video on them, but I'm hearing commercials. Host Processes for Windows Services shows up in Task Manager, killing that stops audio. Killing flash plugins does not.

Any ideas?

First off, I want to thank you for viewing this post and for helping me resolve this issue. I'll give you the back-story of what happened. This morning, I turned on my computer as normal and played games. I then turned on my Skype so I could talk to the friends I was playing with. After a while, while playing my game, my computer randomly restarts itself. When it finally booted, I immediately got back on Skype and started my game. After some time, however, it started playing random audio such as advertisements, music, etc. I thought it was Skype so I closed it. The audio continued to play. I knew it couldn't have been my game because League of Legends does not play radio and advertisements. However, I closed my game after a while in an attempt to figure out what is playing the audio. I opened up my Volume Control and noticed that there was something called "Name Not Available". I muted this and the audio stopped. This should not be there, however, and I'm trying to figure out what is making this audio play and how I can get rid of it.

Hello all,

I run Windows XP Pro SP 3. I have WMP installed. I recently had a new 160GB hard drive i and a combination CD/DV burner player installed. Nero 7 essentials is also installed.

Since this developement. when I attempt to play a DVD in WMP 11 there is no sound or audio. I have checked whether the correct speakers have been sellected ie. stereo speakers and all other requirements are correct. There are no MPEG 2 codecs installed on my system. I had that checked as well and none are installed. I am minded that I may require MPEG 2 codec or an AC3 filter. I don't know about these things so my questions are:-

1. How do I download and install the MPEG 2 codec?
2. How do I download and install the AC3 Filter?
3. Where can I find them?
4. What are their functions?

I am grateful for any answers to the above questions and/or your comments and suggestions with a view to solving the problem.

Please note that I am new to all of this and layman's language will be appreciated.

Thanking you in advance for your kind consideration.

Bassy2

A:No Audio in WMP 11 When Playing DVWs

Hi there! Here is the AC3 Filter download page. I use the filter as well and it works well! AC3Filter is a high quality free audio decoder and processor filter. It allows media players to playback movies with AC3 and DTS audio tracks. Also it can process any audio track, much of processing options allows to adjust the sound in almost any way. Here is Stinky's MPEG-2 Codec which allow you to play MP2 audio files that are written in to a video! The audio files are written in to the tracks because of the different compressing techniques used in technology. In other words, these codecs are used to help play the audio that is written in to the videos.

Yesterday, my husband infected our computer with the "Data Recovery Virus". I was able to remove the virus with Malwarebytes and Rogue killer.

All is fine except for one glitch (that I know of!). When in IE, random audio ads play. I don't have a pop up ad on screen , just the audio. The pop up blocker is enabled for IE but I still get the audio.

Hello. On my Dad's computer, XP professional, quite a low spec 500Mhz AMD CPU thing whenever he plays an audio CD it 'crackles' (his description).

On investigating this it appears the PC plays audio via the IDE bus, and as it's a lowly machine every time the HDD is accessed, the audio get interrupted which causes the 'crackle'.

There is the usual audio L+R cable running from the rear of the CD to the audio input socket on the motherboard but how do you persuade the CDROM drive and/or windows to stop using the IDE bus and just play via the audio?

Weird!

Thanks for any help.

A:Stop audio CD playing via IDE bus...

The problem is the sound card/chip.

The remedy is to not use the onboard sound chip (which is CPU-intensive, of necessity) and install/use a PCI sound card which is not CPU-intensive.

When I open a media file in a player, it only plays the audio, but if I open the same file while this is playing in another player it will play both. It does not matter which player I open first it will only play audio. But the second player will play the audio and video. I have tried Windows Media player, Real Player, Winamp, DivX, DivD and they all act the same. I am running Win XP. If anyone has any help it would be appreciated. I have updated each player and downloaded lastest codecs. Have no idea how to solve this. Thanks for any help you can give. Randy

Hi, I have an HP Pavillion DV6 3216 US entertainment notebook which does not currently have functioning audio. I have no audio coming through the built in speakers (I've tried fiddling with the playback device options/properties/testing the device to no avail) but do have audio when I plug a pair of headphones into the audio jack. I've tried updating my audio drivers and installing the latest through HP's website, but that didn't help. When I go to the system manager and view the properties --> details of Headphones and Speakers (IDT High Definition Audio) it says that no driver files are required or have been loaded for this device. However, when I open up the IDT sound panel click on the independent headphones setup and press test I get audio to play through the speakers for a few seconds until the test ends. I'd appreciate any suggestions to fix this, thank you in advance!

A little more obsessive searching about on the internet led me to an HP forum post by lgrangea while I was initially skeptical about fixing my laptop with a toothpick (or in my case a floss n toss) where the magic of software had failed me but this wisdom worked! I claim no credit for just spreading the good word to the many people of the world!

"I FOUND THE SOLUTION FOR THIS!

After being awake yesterday to 4h00 AM trying to reinstall drivers etc, I found this problem to be a hardware issue (SOLVABLE). I noticed a lot of laptops using IDT sound chips have this issue (I have a HP 8540p).

Basically something in the headphone jack is bent/twisted, making the PC think there's a jack connected. Just open the IDT control panel and get a toothpick. Gently poke inside the headphone jack picking the metal contacts. I did this for maybe 30 seconds until I noticed the IDT audio manager changed the headphones state to unconnected, and now I have speakers working!

Hope this helps, feel free to copy/paste this around forums, has a lot of people with Dells are complaining also."

Tried a few things from other sites, nothing worked, now I'm hoping someone will be awesome enough to help me out.

I just get random commercials and snippets of audio playing and it will take over my soundcard so no other device can use it.

I killed every process I could in task manager and it was still going.

I don't know what other detail to give except I'm on Windows 7.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You have more than one antivirus program running:Lavasoft Ad-Watch Live! Anti-Virus and Microsoft Security Essentials. This does not give you extra protection. They will conflict with each other and give false positives, slow your system down and cause system instability. Chose one a/v to keep and uninstall the other.

Hi,

There are random audio advertisements playing in the background on my computer. They are usually short bursts of different ads that come on for about 5 seconds and then turn off for a little while. They are not the result of an application or program, because even when everything is closed I can still hear them. They are fairly recent, and have been playing for about 3 weeks. I can't seem to figure out how to get rid of them. I am running a Windows Vista 32-bit system on a Toshiba laptop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome aboard  Please download Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) to your Desktop. There are 2 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.You only need to get one of these to run, not all of them. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.rKill.exe: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/10/iExplore.exe (renamed rKill.exe): http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/11/Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.If using Vista or Windows 7 right-click on it and choose Run As Administrator.A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully. If not, delete the file, then download and use the one provided in Link 2.Do not reboot until instructed. If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.If normal mode still doesn't work, run the tool from safe mode. When the scan is done Notepad will open with rKill log.Post it in your next reply.NOTE. rKill.txt log will also be present on your desktop.

Hi,

After startup I can hear advertisements in the background even though I am not running any programs. I run Windows 7

Upon opening the task manager it shows that internet explorer is open and that a website advertising something is open. I can't end the task either.

Sometimes it plays the entire ad or cuts off midway but it slows down other programs sometimes. It's more annoying than anything but I'm worried it may be a more serious threat.

I ran some anti malware

Hitman Pro
Malwarebytes
Rogue Killer
Comodo Cleaning Essentials
Emergency Kit Scanner
AdwCleaner

and ran full scans using myTrend Micro Antivirus and Microsoft Security Essentials.

They all came up clean but Hitman Pro did notice some tracking cookies

So anyway, what else can I do to try and fix this?

Hello TSG!

For about 6 months now, I have had an issue with my Toshiba laptop with x86 Vista Ultimate installed. It plays no audio. When I 'test audio' it says "Failed to play test tone."

I have repeatedly googled answers to this problem and most involve reinstalling drivers, restarting the audio service, turning off all sound effects, attempting to use headphones and even deleting some registry keys. None of these have solved the issue. I know my sound card is fine as the audio works fine when I dual boot into Ubuntu. The sound doesn't work either when I use my external USB sound card.

So, before I take a dive and spend shedloads of money on professionals, does anybody have any suggestions?

A:Vista Isn't Playing Audio

Is the audio chipset recognized and listed in Device Manager (and it should not have a yellow ! next to it)? Have you verified the audio setup? IE: chipset selected as the default audio source, output deivce (speakers) configured properly

Worst case, you need to reinstall the OS. No need to spend money on "professionals".

hey guys, im running on a toshiba laptop right now that uses windows xp. I checked the sound properties, and nothing is on mute. I tested the audio using dxdiag and everything works fine. I reinstalled the audio drivers but nothign is fixing it.

The main problem is that when i click on an mp3 that was workin 2 days ago, I get no audio. All my mp3s from my collection do not work. However, my sound card is working because it plays the login sound and others. Any suggestions?? im currently running an avast scan and ad-aware scan. if i cant resolve the issues soon im gonna just clean format and start from scratch.

A:Audio not playing from mp3s

Hi All,

I am new in this community and I'm really glad I've come across it.

I believe my problem started when I watched a video via streaming (for free) from this website called watch32.is. As expected, there are heaps of ads being free. Every time you clicked on the play button, it would open up a new page for the ads. After a few days, I noticed that while watching a show, an audio of a ads would play in the background.

I looked it up online and it appeared to be a malware/adware. I called my anti-virus/spyware product support and after running several scans no threats were reported. It is very annoying because even if I'm not browsing anything, the ad audio plays in the background.

Can anyone please tell me how to get rid of this?

Thanks a lot.

Cheers,
iwannabe_geek

I am a novice pretty new to this Site also and I am not going to even attempt to answer your query because I know that expert advice will be along here very shortly.
All I can say is this Site has been a god-send to me in helping me gain tech knowledge in how to keep my pc virus-free. The guys and girls here are awesome!
I am sure someone will come along to recommend you use Junkware Removal Tool and/or AdwCleaner of which there are downloads available within this Site.
Use them if indeed this is the case -  as well as read up about the potential problems that PUP's (Potentially Unwanted Programs) can cause. Also, if you are ever tempted to download and use a free pc 'boosting' or other supposed performance-enhancing program in future - DONT! Registry cleaners are a no-no as well!

Sorry to diverse away slightly from your original query....just a bit of 'advice' (if you can call it that! lol) from a fellow novice!
