I have searched to find an answer to this problem of faded pictures when printed from windows photo gallery. I have seen a few others having the same problem, but no solutions. I am hoping that someone now can help.
I can print pictures from other software on my computer, from the internet, etc, with great photo quality. When I print from Windows photo gallery they are very light and faded looking. I have made sure the adjustments are for my printer.
It seems that most of the people experiencing this problem had canon printers. Does anyone have a solution to this?
I have found the solution to this problem, you need to untick the checkbox for "borderless printing", this is how to do it:
When you click print, go to Options > Printer Properties
Click on the "Page Setup" tab, then Untick the box that says "Borderless Printing"

i have an HP pavilion laptop with windows vista. everytime i turn the computer on, I can barely see the desktop. it is tainted, faded, and really black.
Does anyone know how to fix it, what can it be? thanks.
Is any light coming from the screen at all. A failed backlight would cause an almost invisible black image.
windows 7 only shows very faint text and pictures on the internet on new laptop, does it come like that and you have to alter the brightness or is there a problem, this is the same on 2 laptops i had, both have been returned,it happened on both internet and cd based stuff? any one have any ideas

I am unable to print pictures completely. I print them from Picasa on HP photosmart C4250. When I try to print, although the preview is correct, the printed result is not. Part of a picture will come out, or the image starts at the end of the paper and is therefore incomplete. Until now, everything worked properly.
I am so hoping someone knows the answer to this very perplexing problem... I thought it was my printer so I bought a new one and I have the same problem. I print a picture of my granddaughter, who has these wonderful chubby cheeks.........until it is printed and the chubby cheeks are gone. She has slimmed right down...... lol I have been struggling with this problem for quite a while now, have asked everyone who comes within two feet of me and no ones knows how to fix this or what is even causing it. I know someone here will know. I have never had a problem that this site has not been able to fix for me. : ) Thanks, in advance.
Oh yes, and new printer is an Epson 835 al-in-one and my old one is an HP photosmart 2575

I'm trying to print images/pictures using windows photo viewer and I get this error "Your pictures can't be printed because this error occurred".... It doesn't tell me which error.. simply just says that in the dialog box. THe dialog box comes out like 4 times with the same message and I have to click OK.
I've already tried googling it and the only fix I can find is replacing photowiz and I already did but it has fixed. I've also installed Photo Gallery and it stil lgives me the same error when I try to print and picture. I've also reinstalled all my printer drivers...

I never had this problem till I upgraded to Windows 7. Now every time I print pictures from the photo gallery, they come out faded. I just installed new cartridges, and on my other XP Tablet PC, the prints come out perfect. There is only one driver, and I'm sure it installed correctly, but I could try reinstalling it. I have seen others online with the same issue, but I could not find a true answer.
I have an Access database used on daily basis to enter and print the maintenance work order in a report format. I have assigned a command button to print the required record. On clicking the button in the Form, a parameter query will run asking the user to put the record number to proceed. Once the correct record number is entered in the parameter text box, the report is previewed and the user click on the print button to print the same.
My question is as follows:
Is there any method to find out the record i am going to print now was already printed before? A kind of record keeping for the printed records.
Also, a message box should warn the user saying incase if the record was already printed, “The record was previously printed, do you want to continue printing again?”
Please tell me a way to perform the above in my Form.
could't you just add a field in the record for printed?
Then if printeed true, show warning, else show printable form.
Just turned on my laptop and my toolbar (at the bottom) is faded. Start shows Sta but not full letters, icons are bright, right side icons are virtually gone. Toolbar in Firefox is white with a blue border across the top.
I don't remember changing anything last night. Any clue how to figure out what happened and how to fix it?
Run a full scan with Malwarebytes in Safe Mode if necessary, followed by your AV full scan. I'd also run a full scan with SUPERAntiSpyware - Downloads which digs out spyware that remains after uninstall in registry.
Then run SFC /SCANNOW Command.
If this doesn't repair it update your Display driver, seeing if a new one is provided by Windows Updates after enabling Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3)
You can also try System Restore to before the problem began, if necessary from System Recovery Options
If that fails, uninstall the display driver and reinstall it by restarting the PC.
Google has a new video chat (webcam) plugin. I've been using my Logitech Fusion webcam with Windows Live Messenger, no problems. I downloaded the plugin and used the test window to check it. I appear as just a black screen, even though the plugin knows I have Logitech Fusion, it appears in the box under "camera". I am able to use the audio portion of the plugin, using my Logitech webcam, I can speak and hear perfectly. There's no picture. I tried Google's page on the new plugin, no trouble-shooting link. I tried phoning Logitech, the guy said he never heard of the plugin and has no idea if it will work, though the camera does work with Yahoo and AIM messengers. Sooo, have come to my one trusted source, when nobody knows, tech guys know! Please clue me in!!
I have recorded my wife's favorite video's, have about 30 disks she watches every day for over 4 years.
She does change them every couple of days.
The video segment is fine, however the audio part needs to be maxed on the volume control .
Some have just lost the audio.
They are DVD RW and DVD R
Is this typical in DVD disks ?
Is the price of what one pays for a disk determine the quality.
I am using a Sony dual unit for recording and viewing.
Other disks that are purchased with programs on do ok.

When I open any videos in any player; they all are running faded. so whats the problem and how can I see videos clearly.
Is anything else faded? Or is it just videos? Are these downloaded videos? DVD's or Are they streaming videos? (ex) YouTube etc? Do you have a separate video card? or are you using the onboard VGA? Have you updated your video driver?
Have you updated adobe flashplayer, shockwave, and java?
Have you tried a different monitor?
My computer blue screened yesterday saying something about free space on the disk which didn't make sense cause i still have 50% space available. I restarted and it seemed like I had a virus, so I did a system restore to a couple days before. Ever since then a lot of icons/folders appear faded. I know this is because they are hidden but before this blue screen/restore happened the folders and icons that are now faded weren't. I have never seen one icon/folder on my computer that appeared faded or dimmed and now they are, so is there any way I can change this back?
There's clearly something still wrong with your computer, and having multiple folders and files marked as Hidden is just another symptom. I would suggest posting a HijackThis log in the security forum.
I have a HP Laser Jet 3100 printe. My operating system is Windows ME. The printer is not printing clearly. It is faded and a little splotchy. I have changed the cartridge 2 times and it still does not print bold enought to read easily. Should I give up and buy a new printer, have this one repaired or is their an adjustment I can do? I have ran cleaning sheets and they look fine to me. What do you suggest?
I just found this board, hope someone can help me. I bought a refurb Thinkpad 600e about 3 months ago and the LCD took a little time to get bright, it would start out orange when first turned on but looked fine within a few seconds.
Now the LCD can only very faintly can be seen, more like just a shadow, no color, black. It works fine with another monitor.
The cable to the LCD looks a little chewed, any thoughts?

So my notebook is an HP dv4 bought less than a year ago and the COA Product ID is only half visible, and as a precaution I spoke with some HP reps and they told me to download keyfinder and run it to find my Win7 Product key. I found the key, but I noticed that its different from the COA label(atleast the last 15 characters that were visible), which Product Key is the correct one? Will the one I found with keyfinder work for future restores?
Welcome to the forum,
I'm not sure which one you used but this Belarc Advisor - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com

My computer has recently died the death (multiple errors) and a techy friend of mine has recommended reinstalling Windows.
My problem is that the sticker with the product key on is faded all to heck and unreadable.
Is there any way to reinvigorate the sticker? The top barcode is still visible if that is of any use.
Alternatively I have an old dud laptop (also dead, I think the motherboard burnt out) which was on Vista. The sticker on this one is perfectly visible. Would I still be able to create a vista installation media and then perhaps upgrade to Windows 10.
I really don't want to have to purchase a new version of windows for the sake of a faded sticker.
Thanks in advance guys.
Windows will be tied to the hardware

I run win 7 64. My browser is FireFox. One day i started my my computer and texts were washed out. Most of the black and white text on my computer screen has faded. If there were a contrast adjustment I would fix it in a second. Let me say here that it is not my monitor. It has nothing to do with desktop settings. I have been through the posts and tried using all the suggestions. It is the same on FireFox and when fire fox is closed.
Dropdown menus are faded. My word processor texts are faded. On this page as i write this, all of the small black and white text such as, "Logged in as angster", "Use a title that describes your problem......." etc are faded.

Can someone please help me?

I uploaded several hundred scanned photos to Picasa. No problems with editing and arranging. Now, two months, later the photos are there, but they are faded--both thumbnail and full-size. Would appreciate some advice.
Very strange, no editor will fade your photos without being told to do so.
Are the originals which you hopefully have faded as well.
Did they look ok to begin with after the scan?

Greeting. I've been experiencing an issue, and I finally wanted to ask about it.
Thing is: Sometimes (typically "arrow" shapes) have a "fade" effect on their sides. I'd give an example of a popular website that shows these issues, but now that I'm looking for one I can't find any. (Typical, huh?)
Well I recently tried WaniKani and it's very pronounced there. I made a screenshot comparing it with IE. What I use there is WaterFox (my learning browser) which is basically FireFox, my main browser is PaleMoon, which is basically also FireFox and It has the same Issues. Only addon I use is adblock, plugin-wise I have the usual: Flash, Java, VLC.
Any Ideas what it could be, and how I could fix it?

Hi...My beloved Acer M1600 Desktop with Windows XP SP3 OS just went bad ...not suddenly but in steps til all I have is a black monitor screen so I would not have a clue what the problem is...it could be anything.... I can switch the power on and the fan goes....the monitor that had a bright yellow light switches to a basicly very dim flickering light....I just established that the Graphics Card fan is going .......and I tried F8 on startup but nothing....Lately I have had a problem with my cat dancing on the keyboard but she is deaf and takes no notice of my howls of frustration.....So this one has got me stumped....
However Prior to the black screen ...I recall I was having big problems with Firefox and Chrome ...both started crashing as soon as I tried to load in a web site...later both would not open at all.....I recall rebooting and I had my normal screen with my shortcuts then later I had no shortcuts just my screen picture and then later again the black screen
Could anybody please offer any suggestions ....Could it be a Virus?? Thanks for any info ....MK
I think it would be worth seeing if it will run another OS booting from the DVD
do you have another PC that works and has a DVD writer - you could then create a UBUNTU DVD to run from the machine
that will see if there is a hardware issue at all ?
or if its a windows or harddrive issue
Do you have a set of recovery DVDs ?
quite a long post of instructions here
UBUNTU Stand Alone DVD
Note the latest version of UBUNTU needs a DVD to use and boot from
if you only have CDs then you can use an older version, version 10 or 11 from this archive list
It may be possible to boot from another Operating System
This will at least test the Hardware and also see if you can see the Harddrive and possibly get any of your data off.
If you have another PC with a DVDwriter and spare DVD
Download the ISO http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop
UBUNTU version 14 http://releases.ubuntu.com/14.10/
For almost all PCs. The following ISO 32Bit image will work on most machines with Intel/AMD/etc type processors and almost all computers that run Microsoft Windows, as well as newer Apple Macintosh systems based on Intel processors.
You can also run from a USB device now - if the Machine supports booting off a USB Stick

I have a movie that won't play any sound!!! when played in windows media it attemps to download codecs,,I assume for sound cuz I got all the mpeg4 and divx codec's... when you look at the icon in explorer it looks faded as if I had cut the file and was gonna paste it ..it was extracted from .rar files ..so my questions are
1. do I need a new codec??
2. why does the file look faded??
3.how can i find out what format or codec the sound was encoded in??
You could try the WMP codecs:
Also, does it ever actually download the codecs, or do you get an error?
To find out what it could be, all you can really do is rightclick and choose Properties.

Ok we have a HP 4600 color laserjet which prints the right side of the pages faded. Now, on the right half of each printout, no matter what colours are there, its allways the yellow that is faded on the right side, other colors on the right side are ok. And on the left side ALL colours are ok including yellow.
Any ideas on what maybe casing this?
On B/W lasers it means the toner is running low on one side of the cartridge, so you take it out (the cartridge) and shake it a bit to distribute the remaining toner evenly.

I know it is possible to change the appearance of text on Vista, I believe it is called clear?
I only suffer feint text (looks like ink is running out on printed paper) on certain things ie. The Spybot home page or some windows when down loading stuff from the net.
Is there a tweak that brings ALL text up clean and clear?
You can check the usual items listed below to see if they may be able to help with this:
Make sure that you are using the native screen resolution for your monitor.Check to see if you can use a higher screen refresh rate.Try the different ClearType settings to see if one looks better.Check the program to see if it has it's own font settings that can be adjusted.
Hope this helps,
At an 'Open with' why would the checkbox to 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file' be faded?
Hello Advice Pro,
What type of file is this for, and method did you use to get to the "Open with" window? If through Default Programs, then that is normal.
Open With - Change Default Program

For the past few days, I've been noticing system freezes. I eventually tracked them to sysfader.exe jamming up. I know that Sysfader itself isn't malware, but extensive Googling notes that it acting up often corresponds with spyware or trojans. I find that Windows Live Mail messages are so faded that they are unpleasant to read. I have changed setting in Windows 7 Display but it hasn't helped that much.
I also forewarded the message to myself and changed the font and boldface before clicking (send). This works but it is time consuming and seems very unnecessary.
Is WLM working on this problem. The unread messages are nice and boldfaced and that's what I want all my emails to look like.
There are no such problems reported involving Live Mail 2011.

Monitor: eMachines e15t4
So my issue is like the image I posted above - I have faded blackish lines moving all over the screen (kind of a fuzziness). I can not try another monitor because I have no other monitor.

My BenQ T905 monitor (cabled as an auxiliary monitor to my Mac PowerBook G4 laptop) worked fine for about a year (purchased Nov. 05). Then several months ago, I noticed it was flashing a few times when booting up. Nothing else was problematic, so I assumed it was a minor glitch.
Today, with my Macintosh Powerbook powered up for several hours, suddenly my BenQ monitor dimmed and the light started sort of draining down and away. The whole thing went black and, as it did, I heard a small pop come from somewhere in back of it.
I turned it off, then back on. When I do, I see the "BenQ" logo for a split second before it goes to solid black again. Is my monitor fried? Or is there something I can try to coax it back to life?
Is it still under any kind of warranty? I doubt it, but you gotta ask.
Can you see anything if you shine a flashlight at the screen and look very close?
If the backlight burned out the screen will still work, but it will be almost impossible to see.
My HP pavilion dv4t-1500 laptop with a 500GB hard disk died. I bought a new 256 GB SSD to replace it. If I order the HP recovery disks, they will most likely not work as the new hard drive size is different (as the HP forums say)
Also I have read in forums that I can use the COA product key to install a fresh copy of windows 7. However 6 characters of the product key is faded
If the recovery disks will not work, will microsoft provide me with the original COA product key so that I could do a fresh install?

I have searched all the keywords I can think of & I can't seem to find this problem addressed anywhere. The type on my address toolbar in the taskbar is very faded. Almost like it's grayed out, but not quite. I had it do this when I first installed Win 8.1, messed with some settings, but none that seemed to make any sense & it went away. Now it's back & I haven't done any setting changes! Has anyone seen this before & can help?!
Check if high contrast mode is on:
Press Winkey-q and arrow down to Settings. Then type in the search line the word contrast.
You should get a hit "turn high contrast mode on or off" or words to that effect. Click it to check the setting.
hello. having problems with LCD montior. It is a quality monitor--NEC Multisync LCD 1830--but is about 5 years old.
For a week or so it was flickingering slightly. Then one day it faded to black for a minute, came back for 30 seconds, then went black for a long time. On subsequent days I tried it, no luck. Then one day I tried it again and it worked for a few minutes before fading to black again. When it works for brief periods, the image quality is perfect. But at any time it is liable to go totally black again.
Might it be at the end of its lifespan? Can anyone tell me the normal lifespan for LCD's?
Are they worth repairing, in general?
Note: i am quite sure the problem is with the monitor, not the CPU or anything else. i hooked up another monitor and it has been working perfectly for days.
Your LCD is history as in either or backlight, inverter and no it is not worth having fixed. Buy a new one.
Recently my computer was hacked (I guess you could say) by Anti-Virus Gold and thanks to your guys' tutorial, I was able to delete it. But I'm still having some problems that might or might not be related. *shrug* Anyway...
1) When I go to change my desktop wallpaper, I click on browse and click on the file I want to open...and nothing happens. And there are also fewer wallpapers to choose from from the list. I can't figure out what the problem is. And I have changed my wallpaper thousands of times and I've never had this problem. It's really bugging me!!!
2) When I go to My Computer and view my thumbnail files, some are faded. It's really weird. This started happening when my computer was hacked.
3) This is kind of minor, but when I log onto my computer, Internet Explorer pops up for some reason. Again, it never did before. Oh, and the buttons on IE changed w/out me actually doing anything. *sigh*
So, can anyone help me? This spyware junk has really messed up my compy and it really pisses me off!
Thanks for the help...

There's another 8 number code that I still can see. Maybe I can use that to proove my certificate?
To be quite fair im not sure what you can do, i guess you can just try MS and see what they say
hope you get this sorted
I'm trying to make old, faded genealogical documents readable using CHEAP methods. (i.e. I'm a teacher and I'm poor.) Based on my online research, IR and UV imaging might be useful depending on the type of ink used. I know that digital cameras can't see much in the UV part of the spectrum. Does the IR cutoff filter on the imaging sensor mean my EasyShare DX4900 is useless for this as well?
I'll see what I can find to help you but...

A few days back, my computer became infected with a virus, and after finally being able to remove it, I find that the folder "My Documents" is faded out (which means that it is partially transparent) as well as the "Shared Documents." Moreover, all of my files in "My Documents" are simply gone, but when I go to "Recent History" (say, in Microsoft Word), the files are still there and alive and well. So what's going on here and what can be done about this?
Sounds like the files were marked as hidden. You can right-click on one and select Properties to check the current file attribute settings.3 more replies
Hi guys, I installed SP1 on my vista home premium last night and it was all good but this morning I noticed that the battery power, internet icon and the volume icon had disappeared from the system tray. I had a look in control panel and found that the option to enable them was faded out. Is there a way I can fix this? I like to change the volume easily and see how much power I have left.

Please take a look at the pic above. Notice how my start menu as well as all my icons on the bottom right are all faded and theres lines going through them etc. I have no idea how this happened, and I have no idea how to fix it either. Please help.
PS: You can rule out the monitor being a problem immediately because i've tried different monitors. Also, the problem only exists on anything that is windows xp. Games, browser screens etc all look fine. My desktop backround as you can see...fine. Any help is much appreciated.

This is something that has been bugging me for a while now, and I've been unable to solve this problem. Perhaps someone out there can provide some guidance.
Sometimes, I'm unable to print things (such as online coupons) because I'm told that my printer is set to "Keep Printed Documents." I've tried disabling this setting via the Advanced tab under the printer's properties. However, when I do this, click Apply then OK, and close the tab, the setting automatically reverts back to "Keep Printed Documents". Does anyone know why this is happening? It's sort of frustrating to not be able to set the printer settings the way you choose.
I appreciate any tips/suggestions you might have. Thanks!

I'm trying to create an image in Illustrator 9.0 and Photoshop 6.0 that will be used to print a t-shirt for a camp. I would like to give the image a "faded look" to make the shirt look a little more trendy (as that is the fad right now). When I say faded...i don't mean just lighter...i mean that I want it to kind of look like some of the image has faded in parts but is darker in others. (It's hard to explain...but if you've seen a shirt from American Eagle or Abercrombie, you probably know what I mean)
Is there an easy way to make this work, or is there a plugin or filter that I could download somewhere for free to create this effect? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

I have spilled water on my laptop keyboard(Lenovo Thinkpad Z60m), and attempted to dry it out and then the picture clouded over black. I dried it with a hairdryer a bit and rebooted it and now the picture is there but extremely faded, mostly black, yet the operations of the computer are all wroking fine.
What has been damaged? Will leaving it to dry longer help or is it something that is going to need to be replaced.
Thanks in advance.

My computer died so we have reinstalled Windows only problem is though is the activation code that
comes with the computer has faded off and the stickers all kinda weird.
Microsoft have told me to ask toshiba if they can track which activation code was for my computer (I think it registered the computer serial info when I first got it). I can't find a way to ask Toshiba unfortunately.
Help? I can't afford to buy it again. I already paid as part of the computer cost.
> I can't afford to buy it again. I already paid as part of the computer cost.
You are right about that. Toshiba offers notebook with preinstalled operating system and when you buy notebook you pay for hardware, preinstalled software and valid licence for this preinstalled OS.
Please note this product key belongs to preinstalled OS version and it is not some kind of ?universal? key that you can use for activation if you use own OS version.
When you buy new notebook recovery image is saved on HDD as backup. This allows notebook owner to reinstall original recovery image ans start to use notebook with ?factory settings? again.
In case that HDD is defective or owner hat installed own OS version this recovery image will not be usable anymore.
To avoid this situation Toshiba has preinstalled small ?Toshiba recovery media creator? to allow notebook owner to create recovery media as DVD or USB and make recovery image back-up.
This recovery media is bootable device and recovery image can be installed without any problem.
If you check user?s manuals document that you got with your notebook you will see that the whole theme is described there. With other words every notebook owner is informed about all this.
Due to all these reasons recovery media creation is very important.
Back to your problem: after reading your posting I don't know what is your problem exactly and I don't know if HDD is defective but I presume you didn?t create this recovery media, ri... Read more
I have formatted my laptop, the problem was that I delete all partitions and done a full reinstallation.
The problem is that now I cannot input the OS product key to activate it. I have tried to read the product key and got around 3/4 of the key.

Please follow this tutorial and post an MGADiag report - then we can see what the problem is.
Ignore errors produced when clicking on the Copy button - they simply mean that the tool could not create the backup files for some reason. The data is still copied to the clipboard for pasting to your response.
Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!
Hello. This is my first post on these forums.
Getting to the point, I have a Panasonic TV which I have been using as a Secondary Monitor for the past few months, and it has worked perfectly (with an S-video cable). One day I was using it for general reasons and the screen faded to black, and I knew it was on standby. Problem is, I tried everything, but it seemed to stay on standby no matter what. I have tried reconnecting the S-video cable to many places both on PC and Monitor, still same result.
I am using AV3 on the monitor, and am using the Operating System Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit.
UltraMon doesn't seem to be helping in any way with it, and yes, the monitor is enabled in Display Settings.
I honestly have no idea at all why it just went black one day, other things such as my Xbox and normal TV viewing works perfectly on my Panasonic TV.
Oh great. It still doesn't work.
Hey Panasonic, make a monitor which can be taken out of standby.
It seems like I post here at least 100 times a day becasue of all of the problems I have, , but the thing is whenever I right click with my mouse the options are always faded and you can only see like 50% of them until you rollver them. And then after I click the option the option just like stays there. The only way to get it off is to right click on the wallpaper of my laptop and click somewhere else on the screen. Here are some shots:

11JUL11 - Windows7Professional - 3 days ago my PC was attacked by Cybot.B which took 6 hours to remove. Afterwards, most of the Windows Icons, all my work file folders and Word, Excel PPT etc file icons were faded. Thanks to advice from this forum, I selected my "Apps" Folder, above My Documents, in Windows Explorer, then TOOLS, Options, General, and unticked HIDDEN. This unfaded ALL the icons on my PC.
Cybot.B came via a "Business Expansion" Site on Google, created the BLUE SCREEN of DEATH and an Anti-Virus Screen "Personal Shield Pro" and ran an unbreakable recursive cycle - "Continue without Protection?". Eventually after restarting in SAFE MODE several times, I could run Windows Defender (luckily available as it was pinned to Task Bar) and after the 5th clean up with Defender - the PC re-booted normally. But I am still finding virus effects - one being that on updating my website from folder Index_Files, it updates with a different Folder name - and the uploaded file reports "faulty" on the internet. I am about to run Microsoft Security Essentials for the 3rd time - it seems to find all the glitches.
Welcome Matterofgravity to the windows 7 forums.
You seem to have gotten a real bad one BUT, this is even one more reason to make an image backup of your hard disk. They say the most important 3 things in computers are BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP.
Outside of a complete re-install of windows, what your doing is probably the best remedy outside of restoring your windows image.
I have photographs that were printed on paper. The photos date back to 1948 - 1950. The photos are black and white. However, the photos are faded out or did not print well on the original printing. How can I digitally enhance the photos so the faded out parts are made less severe? I have two scanners, MS Paint. Thank you in advance for your reply.

I have a maxtech(i know) 19' lcd that has a white ghostlike area around the edge of the screen that goes away after it is on for about 30m-1hr. The monitor is over 3 yrs old. Anyone know why it does this? Is it going bad?
Offhand? Given the age; I would first think that the fluorescent tube light used to backlight the screen is beginning to go bad. It starts off a little to dim with the edges worst, just like a fluorescent tube in a ceiling light. Once warmed up it reaches full brightness .
This is fixable, the bulbs are designed to be replaced .
But if it is something more complex like the internal electronics the monitor may be on the way to the junk pile.
I have a Dell 968 printer. I'm coming here for support because you guys will probably be more helpful than them.
The problem is that all pages are coming out with faded, incorrect or 'striped' (on the alignment test sheet it isn't a full thick block) colours. I have replaced both the colour and black cartridges multiple times, but the problem still persists.
For example, here is a picture I tried to print. Here is a scanned copy of the result. Here is also a scanned copy of the alignment page (upside down, I just realised) - taken just after fresh cartridges were put in.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
It looks like the drivers are confused or something. That's the only thing I can think of (other than hardware failure) that would cause a printer not to print correctly. I'd attempt to update/reinstall your drivers. If that doesn't help, try using the printer on another computer with a fresh driver installation. If it still happens on the other computer then it's probably a hardware failure. You could try having it repaired but you're better off getting a replacement.
You might also want to try the customer service line. Granted they take forever but they've probably seen this issue before and can tie it to a specific problem.

Other than dogging the print preview, and struggling with the size in any pertinent image editing software, has anyone found a reliable way to limit or control the size of a printed web document?
I scanned an odd shaped document, 3x8" to email to myself at another site, and the printed form was big enough for two pages. What a waste.
I print receipts regularly and they, 99% of the time have a "trailer" on a last page that has stuff like web site address or URL, a Secure Website emblem, or other, clearly unnecessary printing. My introduction to Windows word processing (WordPerfect) had, and I still use, a "makeitfit" command. Invoking such a command AUTOMATICALLY when printing from the web seems like a simple, brainless way to conserve paper...it'll give me a fractional font (e.g. 11.9 vs. a 12) and would prevent the idiotic tendency of a printed page to only have the leftward 80%, l which leaves off the important stuff like the prices...(you gotta print landscape to avoid this)
And I thought a computer was to make life easier, boy was I ever misled)
The problem is that web pages are usually coded to make them look good on screen, and that tends to make them "unfriendly" when printing.
Web pages designed for printing do exist, and it works well in those (few) cases.
Cutting and pasting into a word processor is sometimes the only workable solution.
Well not sure if this is the right area for this but not really sure what the problem is.
When I boot my PC during the bootup dos stage I hear my PC making noises, it still boots up Windows 7 ok but as soon as I open something I get continious R type accross my screen, If I hit the caps lock it changes from R to r.
Thought it was my keyboard having the R locked down so tried to fix it, no luck. Changed keyboards with my spare one no luck. Disconnect all keyboards no luck.
So where is this R coming from, its impossible to us my PC at the moment as soon as you click somewhere (word, exel, Google etc) an R/r appears.
Any ideas where to start?

Don't print much multi page output, so am NOT sure when this problem began.
Originally, the pages on my HP DJ855C were printed as expected: page-1 first, then page-2, etc; this resulted with page-1 being on the bottom of the stack. Depending on the application being used, there was often a Print-Order option available for Back-to-Front printing so that the last page would be printed first and then page-1 would be printed last and be on the top in the stacker.
NOW, things seem to have reversed:
If I do NOT ask for the Back-to-Front, then I seem to get it anyway (i.e., page-1 last and on the top). but if I want the original order (i.e., page-1 first and on the bottom) then I must use the Back-to-Front option.
It seems as though the default has become Back-to-Front and then selecting the option for Back-to-Front re-reverses the order and the result is Front-to-Back.
Possibly this reversal happened when I went to Win/XP; possibly it happened with the installation of some piece of software.
Q. Has anyone else had this exxperience?
Please tell me where I might change some parameter to make the option of Front-to-Back actually print the page-1 first like it did originally?
Any advice apprecaited.
Go into your printers and faxes options off of your start menu.
Select your printer, right click the mouse and click on printing preferences.
On the features tab at the bottom there is a option for start printing from last page. If there is a check mark in the box next to it, click there with the mouse and uncheck it and then click on apply and ok and you should be all set after that?
I have 3 print queues that are retaining the printed jobs in the queue and every now and again the damn thing prints all the job again. I have checked that the keep printed jobs button is NOT checked/selected, but the queue acts ilke it is selected to keep printed jobs. I have 125 printer queues and only 3 act like this and they are set up identical to the others. I have reconfigured this twice on all 3 and they still act like they are set to keep printed jobs in the queue.
Anyone seen this and know of a solution, on the Microsoft site I am seeing posts but not a single reply about how to either run a job to clear them out a couple times a day or fix this so they act as configured. To NOT keep printed jobs in the queue.
Any help as always is much appreciated.
The race to solution is on, let's see who can figure this one out first.

I'm new here!
First I would like to say I'm a TBI survivor and I'm a male and 42 years old .
I was purchased an emachine computer with a Lexmark lasar printer,
Whenever I go to print something, be it a web site article or a personal document that was created using Microsoft Works Word Processor. Whatever is being printed my name appears at the VERY top and the city and state printed at the bottom.
I know little about computers so I'm trying to get an answer why this is being printed.
The only thing that I can come up with is MY NAME, CITY and STATE was somehow entered on this computer's Hard drive and is prints it because it's been entered by someone at the store before iyt was brought home and set up for me.
If there is someway that I can delete this info. being printed, PLESE tell me what to do EXACTLY!
That's very strange, it sounds like a 'Header and Footer' has been set up with that info and is in your normal.dot template. (If Works uses such a template, I know Word does).
Try doing a Find (or Search depending on your version of Windows) for normal.dot and rename any found to normal.old. Then test the printing again. If there is a problem you change the names back again.
Im using access 2010 and there is a print of a report like a certificate whenever needed. My office is requesting me to provide a report of all certificate printed including the date and to whom .
my only way to do this is to force users to enter a field print (yes/no) and from there the query "yes" and the report be printed.
Is there any way to do this without forcing the user to enter the yes/no. field.

The problem I am having is that when I go to print tax return forms from the IRS site or New York Tax Dept site, the form prints "short", that is, the last four or five lines of each page do not print.
You cannot save the data in these forms, they will only save as a blank form. Your only option is to print it.
However, although Adobe tells how to cure this problem ( by clicking File-Print and going down the menu which comes up to "printer scaling", then chosing "print to fit page", this only works if there is a
FILE menu on the left hand side of the page.
In these tax sites, the forms do not have a tool bar above allowing you to chose a FILE menu.
You can right click the mouse and chose PRINT, however it will print a cut off page.
SOOOOOOO ..how do I either:
1. Get a standard Tool Bar to appear on top of the form, on these web site pages, or
2. use some other device or method to print these documents to fit the page.
If any of you are about to suggest right clicking on the printer icon PRINTERS, in the control panel, forget it....my printer does not bring up anything about "Print Scaling".
Hopefully, some geek out there will read this and solve my problem. Thank you. 44 Guy
Every computerized tax form that I have seen...is available at the website of the sponsoring governmental agency...and reflects a printed version option which has resulted in everything being printed properly.
I'm not sure where Adobe figures into tax preparation.
If you are using a 3d-party app to do taxes...then the problem resides with the support for that application, IMO.

I believe it is a problem with the "photowiz.dll" file in system32. It is version 6.x.xxxx.xxxx. I found an older version of this file, had to change the attributes and permissions of the file to allow it to be changed. I renamed it with an "dlx" extension and then copied a version 5.1 photowiz.dll to system32 and the print wizard works again! The site I got the file from is: http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/P/photowiz.dll/5.1.2600.2180/download.html
