My audio is lagging seamlessly in fullscreen games

Q: My audio is lagging seamlessly in fullscreen games

Right, so. My sis got a computer a couple of days ago. We're both very new to vista, but I'm a bit more of a comp wonk, so when it started to bug up a little, I thought I'd play around with it to get a handle on the system.

I'm having a bit of trouble getting a handle on the system. It's not my computer, so I can't tell you every spec right now, and I don't even have access to it at the moment. So this thread is, for now, a bit of a hail-mary pass. If the problem is recognizable enough to diagnose from my scant details, awesome. If not, I'll post them as I discern them.

That being said, the problem is this; as far as my tests have led me to believe, in full screen games only, my sound lags. Usually during cut-scenes, but sometimes during gameplay itself. But the thing is, it's strangely seamless. There's no crackle or distortion. A slight pause, and then the sound cuts off while the video goes on. After about 7-12 seconds, the sound comes back right where it left off, only now the video is obviously out of sync with it.

It's a 32 bit os, multicore processor, 4 gigs ram, Nvidia 7600 GT card. Every driver is up to date unless I made a mistake with the updating processes, and the audio chipset is the intel soundmax hd audio(I couldn't find any drivers for this chipset, so it's probably running at out of box drivers. The auto update told me they were up to date, but I've never trusted that thing, sooo.)

Thanks for reading if you've made it down this far. Ordinarily I would just wait to post this until I've gotten more information, but I'm absolutely neurotic about these things and I couldn't get to sleep if I didn't know that someone might recognize the problem and have a fix for me to try by the time I wake up.

A: My audio is lagging seamlessly in fullscreen games

You should uninstall the audio drivers and then google them for the latest, Microsoft won't always detect the latest drivers. Also check your event log when you get a chance and see if it mentions anything about driver performance. You can also check this in the performance panel of the Contreol Panel.

I'm not sure how to approach this becuase there are so many methods of repairing or generally speeding up your internet connection.

If you have a cable modem unplug the power for 60-120 seconds.
Or, close any recently installed programs that might be accessing the internet.

Hello all,

I recently made a new PC build, everything went fine and all drivers are up to date and the latest. However when playing ANY game in fullscreen i sometimes get a BSOD and if i Alt+Tab our of one it will 90% of the time BSOD. Latest 3b is the BCCode that i get, i have tried sweeping and reinstalling graphics drivers however this did not work. This problem doesn't happen with anything else and does not crash if i play in windowed or border-less, however i use a crossfire setup so i need to use fullscreen to use both GPUs.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Hi, altunshkurlu.

Could you play PES in fullscreen with no hassles prior to the Windows 7 upgrade? I'm guessing it's a problem on PES's behalf. Have you checked all of the visual configuration settings?

We're running Windows XP (Version 2002, SP3) on an HP tower.

Full-screen games minimize every 14 minutes. After reading previous posts, it seems likely that there's some sort of background process that is causing this, but I was wondering if anyone could give pointers on likely culprits instead of having to pick and choose among my programs to see what it could be.

A:help i cant fullscreen in games with windows 7

Ok first this should be in the games section admins please move.
Second This is due to your screen being a wide screen monitor.
Third what games??
Your screen is set to 1680x1050 try seeing your games to that higher setting to remove the side bars 16:4 I believe is the setting for some games to let you select it.
Next: what driver verison are you using?

I have recently upgraded from Vista 64-bit to 7 64-bit. Before the upgrade I had installed and played many games (Battlefield 2 & 2142, FATE, Assassin's Creed, etc.) in full-screen mode with no problems.

Something seems to have happened after the upgrade however as now I am not able to launch some games and have had many difficulties with the others. I have updated the driver specific to my graphics card as well as the Catalyst ones and have checked all the other drivers for updates only to be told they were the most current.

On a related note, my Assassin's Creed is a digital download from EB Games. When I try launching it through DirectX 9 it asks me to insert the CD, and if I try to launch it by any other of the options, the CPU runs for about 5 seconds and then nothing happens.

I say nothing happens, but that's not true. A Windows Error Report is created roughly named AppCrash Assassin's Creed for each time I try to launch it.

As for the other games, FATE creates a process that runs in Task Manager, but nothing shows up on the screen, and occasionally Battlefield 2 does the same.

Is there something that I am missing? I am close to going back and doing a clean install of Windows 7 (instead of having the upgraded version) but would REALLY rather not have to re-install all the programs.

If someone could help me I would be greatly appreciative.

A:Fullscreen games not initializing.

Uninstall antivirus to test. Disabling will have no effect.

If you downloaded or "found" your copy of Windows not from Microsoft themselves, this is very likely your issue as it is laced with malware.

Update your chipset drivers and bios to see if that help, if uninstalling antivirus doesn't. You do this by visiting your motherboard's website or chipset maker's website. Not the device manager.

After playing a fullscreen game, my resolution stuffs up. I normally have it on 1440x900 but after playing a game the top and bottom edges come off (pressing "auto" on my monitor normally fixes this kind of problem but it doesn't with this) and it has a kind of blur effect that's hard to explain, kind of like 1 in 5 pixels are missing or something.

I don't recall doing anything that could've triggered it, when it first happened I was trying to get F.E.A.R Combat to work, I changed it's resolution to 1152x864 as well as my monitor's but when I got out of it the computer was acting funny, also when I go into the menu on my monitor it says it's in 1152x864 mode.

I can to a temporary fix by changing the resolution from 1440x900 (which my display options says it's already on; contrary to my monitor) to something else and back again about ten times until it decides to work but I play alot of games so I was hoping there was a proper solution.

Thanks heaps for your help,

Hi, im having this problem for a while now and cant seem to find the reason.

All games, except League of Legends, get a bsod after more or less 15 or 20 minutes of running. When i change them to a windowed mode all is fine. I remember a while ago (before this problem started) the games minimize all the time when in fullscreen without there being any popup or anything that could cause it. I really dont remember what i did, aside that i downloaded Razer game Booster (not a very good program) which ended that particular problem.

I already tried deleting the drivers from Catalyst Control Center, but the problem persist.

I have all my System specs filled by the program of this site, do you need me to copy them here? Anything else i should provide you with?

Thanks in advance!!!

Hi for the last few months I've been trying to figure out why my PC keeps crashing when I'm either playing games or watching video in full screen.

The symptoms are:
-freezing up both picture and sound (loops) so I have to reboot manually
-just cuts out and restarts (as if manual restart)
-BSOD with varying errors

This occurs when:
-playing games, usually after 1/2 hour or so but noit always
-playing DVDs this often happens after only 5 minutes or so
-watching some vidoes in full screen (bbc iplayer, youtube, megavideo and others) but only rarely occurs when playing vids on Veoh or avi files in WMP (it has happened but very rarely usually it's ok doing this)
-sometimes but not often it will do it when watching non fullscreened vids on youtube, or even just web browsing (but this is also very very rare)

This first started occurring around the same time that I installed a new Sound card (Creative X-Fi) but I eliminated that by replacing it with my Asus Xonar.
My main suspect is overheating as it takes a while to happen if the PC has just been turned on. I still suspect the sound card has something to do with this, but only in the sense that it obstructs airflow either just in general or more specifically for the graphics card or my favorite suspect the Northbridge on the mother board (which is already half covered by the graphics card). But these are just speculation, my case is well cooled by 3 120mm fans (& no IDE) plus the PSU. CPU is not OC'd and atm I... Read more

A:Games and fullscreen video crashes

Nope, installed new CPU heatsink+fan and it seemed to be working with a DVD but then crashed again on bbc iplayer. It may be because my pc was off for a while or because the heatsink keeps my mobo a little cooler for a little longer, or a combination of both. But it's definately not my CPU or RAM overheating, and memtest86 came up with nothing after running all night.

All fullscreen games I play freezes. the time it takes varies. Sometimes after 2 minutes, other times after 2 hours etc.

First the screen is sort of "stretched" and I can hardly see the game, some parts of the screen are completly black, others got different colours.

And then if I try alt+tab or ctrl+alt+delete out it freezes up completly and I have to restart the computer. It does eventually freeze by itself (from 10sec to over a minute without doing anything it can randomly completly freeze.)

I have searched a little to try and find someone with the same problem, I did find one, and he got suggestions for motherboard and BIOS. But if that is the problem I would like directions as to how I can update these.

My screensaver (a custom one) has a tendency to override some, but probably not all, fullscreen games if I don't use the keyboard or mouse for long enough, for example if I'm watching a cutscene or using some non-mouse, non-keyboard controllers (gamepads, smartphones etc.) Similarly, when I play Don Bradman Cricket '14 for an extended period of time on my gamepad, power saving kicks in and my screen turns off, despite the game running in the background. I thought that fullscreen programs overrode screensavers and power settings in this respect. This happened with Win7 as well, and I had no luck fixing the problem back then.

Is there a way to fix/workaround this issue? Of course, the obvious way is to disable the screensaver and extend the amount of time taken before power saving kicks in, but that's my last resort since I wish to do neither.

As the title suggests just about any game will crash. I have managed to work around this by playing in windowed mode which works for some games like saints row 4, but not for dota 2 (dota will crash no matter what I do). Also, netflix will crash the computer if I play the movies in full screen mode.
I've tried a lot of different things and sometimes when I keep my computer on for long periods of time (close to a week) saints row 4 will work just fine in full screen, but then I'll go to watch an anime in full screen (streaming) and the computer will crash. After that it will crash to almost anything that's full screen. Oddly enough I can watch twitch in full screen just fine.....

Well.. about 1 week 1/2 ago, my computer started to freeze every 15 minutes... if I got lucky, every 1 hour or so... although, when I started playing games, whether it be in fullscreen or windowed mode (ie. GTA San Andreas) my computer would freeze after 5+ minutes... this never happened before... my computer started freezing the day I acquired a virus/spyware/malware (not sure, but Ill call it a spyware program)... it was called 'antivirus soft'. I removed the virus through reformatting my computer since the virus would not let me execute any anti virus program (or any other such programs) to remove it. I tried going into safe mode by forcefully restarting my computer, and I tried scanning my computer with AVG, and Malware Bytes, although my computer kept freezing!

Also, my internet was suspended by my ISP because apparently, my computer was infected with a network virus called 'Torpig'. I reformatted my computer again after this report. I reformatted my computer (C Drive) and deleted all files off my recovery harddrive (D Drive). I scanned my computer with AVG and Malware bytes. I caught some viruses and apywares and quarantined them... but my computer still freezes... Now, Iam not sure whether Torpig still exists on my computer... so I need help on this too.

Been going on for several months now, computer's around 2 years old and some tell me it's probably the ram going dodgy, but painfully long tests have been done on it and shown no issue.

Happens sporadically when faffing about in Chrome, and with some degree of reliability when tabbing into and out of games (enough to have a microcringe when doing so).

On average there's a bluescreen every 2-3 days.

Hi everybody, I had this very annoying problem, and maybe someone knows a solution.

Everytime I play a fullscreen game, and I stop, the following happens:
When my screen goes black (to save energy, I don't have a screensaver), and when I hit a key to light my screen up again, the resolution has changed. The resolution my pc jumps to varies with the games I play, for instance, when I play Super Smash Bros (on a Nintendo 64 emulator), the resolution is set to its lowest (800x600), and when playing Braid, it jumps to 1280x768 pixels. A list of my screen resolutions:

Is there any way to solve this problem? Because everytime I reset the resolution to 1366x768, the icons on my Desktop have changed places, this is really annoying.

Thanks in advance!

A:Fullscreen games effect screen resolution

For some users, this problem relates to a driver bug (primarily for NV cards). Though nv has never officially released a patch or something. Some report that the problem could be solved by reinstall the graphics driver if ur lucky enough.

Nevertheless to mention there's some opportunity that it's caused by system software interference. That is, some of your system related software interfere with each other and ultimately bring damage to your OS.

Sadly, there's no absolutely viable solution (except reinstalling your Vista) yet.

For the icon rearrangement issue, there're some software that manages your desktop themes can help u "remember" the icons' original locations. I cant really recall their names. U can search for some.

Recently I've come upon a problem with Windows where it will lose focus on fullscreen games and go straight to the desktop. It doesn't crash the game, it just loses focus, like it's alt-tabbing. I've tried many different solutions, and none work. I don't believe I've installed any new services or startup programs, and even when running Windows with no non-native services or startup programs, it still happens. I no longer have any solutions.

Ok so I've never had a problem, but a couple days ago i think I hit something on my monitor and now full screen applications are always slightly blurry, and are also taking at least twice as long to load. I reset the monitor to factory settings but it didn't seem to do anything. Anyone know what's going on?

A:Solved: Blurry Screen with Fullscreen Games

You think you hit something on your monitor? Did you or did you not hit something? I dropped a 19" LCD monitor once about 3 feet onto a carpeted floor. I expected disaster but it appeared no worse for wear when I cautiously reconnected it (I got REALLY lucky that day )The blurry display could be caused by damage to the screen but that should affect every display mode not just the full screen display. Check your PC to monitor cable to ensure it is firmly connected. If the monitor is displaying then it almost surely is connected properly. Also a damaged monitor should not cause programs to load more slowly. The loading comes from the computer itself.
Do you have any further info to provide?

I've been having this problem since upgrading to Windows 8 (fresh install) and never had the issue while using Windows 7 where switching between desktop and full-screen games was almost instantaneous. I get this delay when I exit and enter full screen games. It's happened all of them so far, including Left 4 Dead 2, World of Warcraft, Sid Meier's Civilization 5 and Magic The Gathering 2013.

Here's a video that shows what's happening:

Hello All

Does anyone have a solution to the following?

When playing games or watching videos in full screen, appprox every minute the game/video minimizes.
Also when typing I have to click on whatever I am typing every minute or so because the window is no longer active.
I have looked for a solution online to no avail, any ideas would be appreciated.

So far I have tried killing every process one by one except system critical with no success.

Thanks in advance

The problem I've been having is that when I try to run a game in full screen mode the game will just minimize itself and no matter how many times i try to bring it up it just flashes a black screen and then returns to the desktop with the game still minimized. I believe I've found what causes this but I'm still not satisfied with my current solution. What I've found so far is that on my computer full screen games don't like to run in 32bit color mode. I've got an ati card and when I change the color setting in the catalyst control center to 16bit also disabling aero the games seem to run fine. What I'm trying to find out I guess is
A. am i fixing the root of the problem by doing this?
B. is there a way to have games incompatable with aero automatically adjust the color and aero settings when started then return the settings to normal on close?

Thank you all so much for your help, I was browsing through the forums for a bit earlier looking for a solution and didn't find it; but you all are clearly very knowlageable in dealing with vista related issues and I'm sure you can help me find some answers.

Hello parzon.

A search revealed that you are using nForce as the chipset driver, and that includes nvmf6264.sys as the network controller driver. You need to try to update nForce, as it contains not only the network controller, but also storage controller and a lot of other vital drivers.

Okay so I'm pretty noob at this stuff I feel but this is the rundown of issues plus what i have done so far and the things i have to present my case to you.
I am mainly affected by MEMORY_MANAGEMENT BSOD, I have been interrupted by PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA BSOD as well but only once or twice. The memory management ones seem to happen very frequently and when I play certain games more than others. I will say for what its worth (which may be nothing) that League of Legends the game I play most frequently (hundreds upon hundreds of hours) has NEVER ONCE bsod'd on me or inexplicably CTD while some of the games that BSOD (after even just an hour) will also CTD. So wanting to solve this issue Ive used CCleaner, Defragmented my computer, used memtest86 to make sure my RAM is stable and it is. The next thing i figured to do is run sfc.exe which in fact found corrupted files in my system32 that it was unable to repair because the parent file was also corrupted. I have NO IDEA how to fix these .MUI and .DLL files in the system 32 and I am attaching my CBS log with the logs that the sevenforum program made up so you can see as well. So my main question first would be do these corrupted files affect the BSOD I am getting and even if not how do I fix them. And secondly how to fix the BSOD themselves if those corrupted files are not the issue. Please ask me for any other information you might need, I have never posted for help on a cpu forum and may need some direction on how to find c... Read more

When playing lower-resolution games that use full-screen mode on my Windows 7 Professional X64 will not play without serious color glitches. It flickers and the colors are all completely messed up. I have a Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX Integrated RAMDAC video card that is updated with the latest drivers. My monitor is a Hanns-G 28" wide-screen and is up-to-date as well.

It is SO irritating to not be able to let my kids play these old games.

I have had success disabling the "explorer.exe" in the task manager, but ONLY when playing the Age of Empires 2: Conqueror's Expansion. This method has not yet worked for any other game.

My old Myst games from Cyan and a bunch of others refuse to be clear enough to play and enjoy.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

A:Trouble w/graphics for games that use lower resolution in FULLSCREEN

Welcome to Sevenforums to you!

I will be providing you with links that you may click that lead to a tutorial part of this website for a how-to.

Make sure you have windows completely updated, along with every one of the games. Also, make sure your drivers are updated, especially your graphics driver. If you'd like me to find the appropriate one for you and a how-to, fill out your system specs with this tool.

Try putting your game into compatability mode: Compatibility Mode

Failing that, lower your graphics resolution and settings through your graphics control panel. If you'd like more of an explaination, please ask.

It is unusual, but some antiviruses may get in the way of the game. While I don't recommend disabling a much needed antivirus while connected to the internet, you might try it as a test. What antivirus do you use? I can offer recommendations based on how well your antivirus performs according to my experience, if you would like.

To more easily find drivers compatable with your computer, you can set windows to find them auatomatically: Compatibility Mode. Then you can check for updates and see if there are any "optional" drivers available to you.

Hi guys,
Just got a brand new system 3 days ago, and the gpu is a Sapphire radeon hd 6850.

I've got this strange problem though, whenever I start up a fullscreen game, for example world of warcraft, it crashes within the first 15 minutes of gameplay. The screen turns black, but the computer is still working (itunes music playing in the background etc). The screen is black until you do a hard-restart. (Sometime the sound crashes aswell)

The strange thing, is that when you go windowed mode with the exact same settings, it works like a charm with no errors!

I've installed 10.10e and directx11 (tested earlier drivers aswell), and all latest drivers for bios, motherboard, ram tested etc.

Oh, and also: the 3DMark Vantage always crash before the 2nd Graphics Test, and if I don't have to do a hard-restart, the program quits and a dialogue-box appears saying: "AMD display driver stopped working and has been reset" and in Vantage it says "std::exception Device removed".

I'm completely clueless, so It would mean the world to me if anyone might have a possible solution.

Just got a new computer 2 days ago:

Alienware Aurora_r3
Intel Core i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40 Ghz
4.00 GB ram
Windows 7 (64bit)
Dual video cards, both AMD Radeon HD 6800 series, with latest catalyst drivers installed directly from the website

Whenever I try to run games in full screen mode (as opposed to windowed), after 2 to 5 minutes my computer will just turn off. No error messages, warning sounds, lights, anything.. it just turns off. Affected games include Starcraft2, WoW, League of Legends, that I have tested so far.

However, if I run these games in windowed mode, I can play without interruption with all graphic options turned to the max. Problem does not appear to be overheating, as the thermal indicator software that came with pre-installed never gets above 29°C.

Any ideas how to fix? I don't want to have to send it back 2 days after getting it

A:New computer randomly restarts when running games in fullscreen

Alienware has been known with plagued thermal problems.

You can check inside the case and see if there's any possible mis-directed air flows, and point the duct, or add the fan to that area and see if that helps.

Dual video cards are known to be overheat very easily. If you have three PCI-E slots, move the last HD6800 to the bottom and extend the Crossfire cable to there, and see if that actually remedy with that kind of problem.
Otherwise, send it back and complain that you were ripped off, and maybe they could fix it for free.
EDITED: There's other possible options;

- kill all tasks in task manager, or using the batch with " taskkill /F /IM "program name"
- update your directX
- Downgrade your catalyst driver version to the factory driver, or upgrade to the newest driver that is FROM ATI/AMD website. ( )
- leave your side case to open up the more air-flows in the computer.

I've been having a problem with online videos lately. To be more exact, the audio part of the video, while the video is in full screen mode. The video itself is fine, but the sound is really choppy and seems to be in slow motion. This ONLY occurs with ONLINE videos when the video is in FULLSCREEN mode. I tried using different browsers but it's the same either with Opera (my default), IE or Firefox. I believe this began after I updated my DirectX (p.s. I saw it updating and installing some files) (p.s.s. downloaded the DirectX updater from Microsoft web page of course). Everything was working fine until then. And since I only watch free iptv (don't have a tv at the moment ) this problem is quite bothersome.

(I'm running 32 bit win 7, default browser Opera, dxdiag >> no problems, bah.. what else 3 year old pc - pretty decent specs though )

Hello, I recently had a spyware problem and my pc was very slow.
SOOOOOO, I looked up some ways on how to spped up XP, but I didnt think of backing up the registry. After the spyware was succesfully removed, I started to play my games again. Anyway the games are lagging quite badly. My specs are 2 gig ram, 250gig seagate, 1.86 core 2 duo, some motherboard, and a 7600GS nvidia graphics card. The games are quite slow and when I lan it is quite bad. Please help me, as I have a BIG lan next friday. I dont want to look like a dumbass there. I did something to make running programs faster, like ms word starts in 2 seconds but my games lag. Any way if someone could maybe post a saved folder of their working registry. Thanks!

Firstly, may i ask, was this a registry cleaner that you used to clean up the pc? If so, well hate to say it but, your probably out of luck now. As for malware cleanup, best i could do is ask for you to post an hjt log and wait for a malware removal expert to review/move it to the proper forum. Have you tried reinstalling the game in any event?

I have got rid of panda whatever, as a friend told me it can mess lol up, and I am still getting this crappy lag, and considering I play mundo and tryndamere mostly, it makes the game unplayable. there is absolutly nothing my end causing this, and I feel it is client side. if anyone can actually help, then please do so. Putting a guys comp / net down when he is asking for help, is just BM, I play both EUW and NA, I am experiencing the same on both servers, and it is not a constant. "Help! SOS! GG Riot!"

Not sure this is the right place for this post.

I have just built a PC out of spare parts for my kids to use. The problem is that when first I start playing cod world at war it starts off ok but after a while it slows down and gets very jerky. Also after that the next time I play it starts off jerky from the begging. I am using cod war as a test game as they like to play zombies.
I have done the memory timings, disabled speedstep in bios, updated all drivers, defragged, and made sure no unessassary programs are running in the background. All temps are ok.

The spec's:

Pentium D 3.4ghz
Asus P5Q SE2 m/b
2gb DDR2 800mhz (corsair)
Factory O/C Geforce 8800GTX 768mb
80gb HHD sata 2
600w PSU
Windows XP x32

I have used the cpu,ram and gfx card together in a P5N23-e sli plus m/b and it played everything.
I first put this machine together using an older different m/b but that was lagging so I bought this new m/b and it still dose the same thing.

Any idea's will be gratefully received.

Two limiting factors could be the amount of RAM you have and the page file. See if you can add another gig or so of RAM and set a page file about about 2 gigabytes and you should see an improvement. Aside from that, I don't know what else to do.

If you don't know how to set the page file, start > control panel > system > advanced tab > performance > and check the page file size. Enter in a new size in megabytes i.e. 2048, and restart. It's been a while since I worked with XP, but I'm fairly certain that was the process.

Hi, so I wanted to ask how can I improve my PC performance since my games are lagging like League of Legends and CS 1.6 ( Idk why but cs lags the most). I am new to this PC stuff, so maybe you could tell me what can I do. I also wanted to replace some PC parts ( I really do not know how they call), like these graphics cards or something, can I even do that with a laptop? I certainly do not know the answer to that and I am afraid to do anything on my own. But if there are certain programs that can help me improve performance of my PC, please share them. Thank you, much!

Before any one can help we need to know what you have, is this a desk top pc or laptop? What is the make and model of the pc? There could be several things that could cause lag from low disk space to to many programs running in the background. Now when providing the info for your pc, the best place to find it is in the system info. Click the start button, then click control panel. Click on system and security and then system. A box will open showing the version of windows and the pc info such as cpu info and ram info. If the pc is an oem pc made by dell or gateway there will be info there on the model and brand of pc. Please post the info in the system info box.

problems with lagging in game with ati radeon 7000

i want to discuss about something, please. I have been playing BF 1942 with my HIS ATI Radeon VE Excalibur 64 MB ddr dual monitor with tv out. I use bf 1942 file in my secondary hard drive because my primary hd is small. i am using my secondary hard drive for gam*ng only. I have noticed much la**ing in high video setting, and medium video setting. There is less la**ing low video mode than high and medium video mode. That affect to my other gam* in 3d and first person sho*ting

is this online or single player? i have found that bf 1942 runs better on 512mb of RAM from personal experience. do you have it on the dual monitor setup? try taking it off if you do, im not sure if that would lower fps or not. you could try it tho.

Well, I'm using Firefox 3.6.3 and all the flash games I play lag for a few seconds before getting normal again, and continues again and again. It's really irritating.

I have a GeForce 6150 Go with 128 MB dedicated memory. It's fine for online games. The computer was fine before. I have the latest Flash Player (ver. 10). I'm using DirectX 11.

I've tried doing many things like disabling session restore in Firefox, altogether, and also disabled the sound enhancements for my speaker, as I got the suggestion from someone's forum somewhere. But the problem is the the games are choppy even in other browsers. I think it's a GPU problem, but I tried reinstalling the graphics card driver.

What shall I do? Someone please help me.

The first thing I would do is update Windows, Service Pack 2 was released almost a year ago (if I remember correctly) for Vista. Also, ensure all your drivers etc. are all up to date, first place to check for those is the Acer website.

I ran EVGA OC Scanner to check the frame rate as I was directed by the guy that built the computer and it was steady at around 30 fps. My FPS in game in League of Legends is anywhere from 30 to 60, but the gameplay just feels choppy. I tried lowering the graphics settings, and it didn't seem to make any difference.
I've also tried Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Metro 2033 and they ran choppy too.
But then when I played some other games it ran fine, the other games I tried are: Dead Island and Sacred Citade... Read more

A:Games lagging! Scared plz help

You seem to have an internal graphics card. To get better performance in other higher-process demanding games such as NFS Most Wanted, you'd want to get a new graphics card. Your processor is very good (3.00GHz) & it's Dual Core as well, so provided you have a PCI-E slot on your motherboard and enough Watts from your power supply you can easily purchase a new graphics card. 1GB Ram is pretty acceptable nowadays although most people have 2GB or more.

Otherwise you need to tone down GFX settings for your other games to reduce lag, or go Ctrl+Alt+Del, go to Processes, and kill processes that are eating up resources.

In almost every game I try, when I set a game up past the resolution it starts as, I get extreme mouse lagging. For example, in Warcraft III, when I play it at 800x600x16, the mouse is fully responsive. However, when I up it to 1280x1024x32, it's very unresponsive and takes a full second to respond. I just got a new comp, so I'd like to take full advantage of it whilst I'm playing games. Here are some specs

Athlon 64 3000+
80 gig HD
Logitech MX500 Optical Wired Mouse

If you need more, I'll give you more specs.

I have the newest mouse and video card drivers, but they didn't help.

It's not just Warcraft III, but about every game thats less than three years old. Max Payne 1, UT2003, and more.

Can anyone out there help?

Hi, Well a little bit more details would be useful, what notebook, what temperatures you have, what's the CPU/GPU frequency, and so on. During the lag do you see a spike in the CPU/GPU frequencies? It can be the low memory, because if you have integrated graphics card for example, the memory is shared, so changes in texture and so on would be hard if you don't have enough memory since they need to be loaded from the virtual memory aka the hard disk. Do you have an HDD and one SSD? If yes, is the game installed on the SSD or HDD?

I recently posted in the security forum and I cleaned all my malware.

Internet problems are fixed... but there are still problems with my games... Any online game I play has random lag spikes which were not there before... it doesn't seem randomly sparatic but its more of a systematic lag style...

Often times my screen will freeze and the computer will lock up.. many of these games require well below what my machine can process..

Intel Pentium 4 2.53ghz
512 MB DDR Ram
100 GB HD
Geforce FX 5200
Windows XP Home

However, I do notice some random glitches with my video output on the screen.. there will be random flickers of light and screen shakes.

Whenever I'm playing a game, it always lags at some point or another. I know it's NOT the server, it's me, because when I play at my friend's house for like 5 hours, his is lag-free, whereas I play mine for 15 minutes, and I lag like hell.

I'm currently using a Dell D600 laptop, pentium M, Windows XP. My graphics card is a RADEON 9000 and I have DirectX 9.0. I have 512 MB RAM and 1.80 GHz.

Lately, I've been playing Lineage II, and I've been lagging VERY badly. Usually, after 15-25 minutes of playing, I'll start lagging. These lags are usually lag spikes, but they last for like 15 minutes..

BTW, this usually always happens, because when I start playing a full-screen game, my CPU runs up to 100%, and I'm pretty sure that the lag is caused by the overheating CPU.

I've been trying to tweak some stuff, delete unused programs, icons, etc, removing background systems, but they all don't seem to work.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'll be very thankful.

Hello everyone,
So basically ive been having some technical problems with my laptop. When playing flash games like every 2 mins my computer starts running slow and frames per second goes down to 0-10 fps... A similar symptom is that when i use my webcam, every 2 mins image and sound starts going slow for like 30 secs. When watching videos on some websites the same symptom occurs. When these spikes happen on chrome and i press SHIFT+esc to open the task manager, it appears that Shockwave Flash Plug-in takes like 30% or more of my CPU memory.

These are the things I've tried to do:
- I updated my drivers, video, sound everything.
- Tried using gamebooster
- Scanned my computer with AVG antivirus and some other antivirus.
- Tried using all browsers, chrome, IE, firefox (with ad-blocker), Opera (turbo mode on)..
- Tried connecting directly to internet router, cuz i always use wireless connection.
- Tried going to graphic adapter (NVIDIA Geforce 8200M G) and put graphics to lowest quality to improve performance.
- Tried reinstalling NVIDIA Geforce 8200M G driver
- Tried changing the resolution of my computer.
- Reinstalled shockwave flash plug-in.

I don't know if anyone can help me with this but here goes:

I have a decent machine so this shouldn't be happening but when I play games (Unreal II, for example - which is old and should not run sloppy), the game keeps pausing (to catch its breath, apparently) every second. Basically, the system is lagging.

Here are my system specs:

Sony Viao RX-850
P4 2.4 Ghz
1 Gig RAM
GeForce FX 5900 Ultra (BFG Tech)
SB Audigy (2.0 I think) Sound Card
Windows XP Home

With this video card, none of this should be happening. Any ideas?? I tried lowering graphics options and it still happens.

I tried creating another hardware profile (turning off a lot of resource hogging processes) but that didn't work. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT!!!

Okay, so I am trying to play games, with decent graphics settings. But I just can't. I spent a lot of money on my pc (near on 2k in total, I could have gotten it so much cheaper but my impatience got the best of me) but it can't play even minecraft without some serious lag.. I don't know why. I've changed a few parts, upgraded a few parts and still. A:The games are lagging in Windows10

10 is more resources hungry than 7 and 64-bit version even more.
Try to install Cleanmem to get back some RAM, you seem to lack of.

Not to mention, that your graphic drivers are optimized for 7, while in 10 there are most likely used generic drivers for, I suppose, an outdated GPU, which will never be updated again. Better stick to 7 then untill you get a new computer.

Alright, so I've been having problems with Windows 7, mostly with the internet speed.

At first, it began with very slow download (10kps vs my usual 120+ KPS), slow webpage loading, and abosolutely no ability to play online.

I've looked up several fixes (Turnning off IPv6, Checksum, disabling some Windows Services, cleaning out my registry, ect, ect nos eternum.)

Now, it will download respectfully for some of the time. I get about the same speed, and I can actually play a little. Yet, I still get huge lag spikes while playing and from vent.

Is there anything anyone could suggest to me to fix this?

When did this start happening? Did you make any hardware/software changes and then notice a slowdown?

Did you "power down, power up" your router(s)? Check with your ISP about problems. Get the newest drivers for your network and video cards.

I have a three year old ASUS gaming laptop with Windows 7, 283 GB, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M video card. I noticed a problem when I could no longer play Mass Effect 3 multiplayer online without considerable lag. The last time this happened I was having CPU spikes but that was fixed. This time none of that is happening when I am having lag. I tried lowering the graphics settings and updating my graphics card and doing windows updates with only very minor improvement. When I have tried playing games such as Left for Dead2, Orcs Must Die2 and Diablo3 online through Steam and Origin I keep losing connection and getting booted out of games. It happened last night and I couldn't make it through a game without getting kicked off. My internet connection itself is fine and I haven't experienced any lag when just surfing the web. I haven't tried youtube yet though. I don't understand why it's doing this all of a sudden???? The only thing that I have downloaded in the past couple of weeks was Quicktime and Java because I am in grad school and one of my professors keeps posting lectures via Quicktime. I really would like to be able to fix this with your help and not have to take it in...if possible...I'm a poor college student and I just want to play Mass Effect with my boyfriend!!

A:All online games are lagging all of a sudden

Hi there RayRay,

It might help to download the latest wireless drivers for your laptop. I'm sure if you go to the ASUS website for your specific laptop, there will be a download section where you can download drivers. Look if you can find one for your Ethernet (LAN) port if you are connecting via cable to the internet, or one for your wireless one. Let me know if this is any help.

Hope for some help and thank you

A:My GTX 520mx is shuttering and lagging on games

First of all, laptops are not really designed for gaming [exception purpose designed dell/alienware laptops]

Next, few people want to click on an unknown link. Post whatever diagnostic here rather than on some third party site.

Start by posting your temps ie cpu temp, system temp, video temp, etc. Do that under a light or normal load AND under a 100% load [running prime95 or other stress testing program]

Hey everyone

Atm i have a problem where my keyboard is lagging only when i enter a game. For instance i will press W to go forward, and it will go forward for about 2-3 seconds then stop. This makes the game almost impossible to play and very annoying.

I have done some reading up about this problem, and people are saying it has to do with the processing power not being delivered to the keyboard. Some people suggest to change the priorities of the game form high to normal. But the game is already on normal priority on my computer.

Some other people have suggested its a fan issue. This may be the case in my computer as i ran "Speed Fan" a program to test the temperature of your computer, and its around 50C.

My specs are

Radeon 9550
P4 3.0
3 Hard drives one external
1 gb RAM
wiresless mouse and keyboard

I run windows XP, and when im typing like i am now, there is no lag or problem with the keyboard.

Games that it occurs in: All 3d games really, Halo, BF2, BF2 2142, COD2

Thnx in advance

So I'm running on a previously pretty faultless laptop, I don't know my specs but I do know it's an HP Envy, but the real point here is that previously I had no issues with running any games that I wanted to, within reason. My specs check out. Recently however, very nearly any game I play, from open-world RPGs like Mass Effect or Skyrim, to 2D platformers like Starbound, experience intermittent, but game ruining FPS drops every 15 seconds or so. If I boot up a game, it'll cope fine for about 2 minutes, 4 if it's been a while since I last booted it, then it will start relentlessly dropping the FPS every 10-15 seconds to as low as it likes. It's been doing this with games I previously, and specifically had no issue with, I should say.
And that's the main concern (or hope, I'm not sure which), my laptop NEVER did this before about a month ago. I was aware of a laptop's limitations, but I was surprised, it could handle itself pretty damn well. But now it struggles with anything made after 2002. I've tried running virus checks, deleting any possible bad files, checked my CPU in task manager, seems okay, but beyond that I've felt pretty hopeless. I feel like something is just malfunctioning, and the data-management is getting congested somehow by background software (wow look at me go, miracle a technical mind like mine hasn't fixed it already, huh).
I spent like £800 not a year ago on a beautiful machine that I know still wants to give, guys, but I'm in agony here, I d... Read more

Look for any new software running in the background. It could be something as simple as that you've enabled Aero

The game I was playing was Diablo II LOD, when I entered a game online I was lagging HORRIBLY, my ping was at about 700 or so and I couldnt even type. Restarted computer and the works, booted D2 up again and still the same lag as ever. Seriously this is bad lag, when u type the words come out after, and it is just plain lag, u can barely even move and when u do it skips like really fast.

Now I shouldnt be getting all this lag and such, my system specs are:

Dell XP
512 MB Ram
2.39 GHZ

The weird thing is, I also play wc3 and d2 + wc3 are both hosted by AT&T, I was lagging horribly on wc3 also. This shoudlnt be happening to me ! My comp is better than most + only around 6 months old. I cleaned up xtra files on my computer than a friend tells me, it might be something is using up ur CPU. I do the Alt+Ctrl+Del trick and see wut program is using the most, it is System Idle which is 98%, thats normal and it should be there. I was thinking spyware since it could be invisible and just eating my cpu up, I downloaded anti spyware and ran a check, nothing..

So now I'm here asking for help. Weird thing is really that I am lagging on BOTH wc3 + d2, I play them online so I'm thinking my ISP?? Than a guy is telling me its actualy ur CPU.. I heard there are some pro's here, so please help me out..

If this is the wrong section feel free to move, like I said I dont know the problem so dunno where to move to?

Also I ran like 20 scans yesterday and today, f... Read more

Well I was playing this game "Uplink: Hacker Elite" just after downloading some of the new updates. I exit out the program and started downloading and installing the new update. After the whole restart thing and everything I went back to play the game and it was SO SLOW that I amost went to sleep!

And one thing about "Uplink: Hacker Elite" is that is not a SUPER GODLIKE GAME like Unreal 2k4 or Doom 3. You can easily compare it to Doom 1 or something alittle more higher than the PINBALL game from Windows.

I started to continue having problem trying to watch DVD's and stuff like that. So I thought about a REFORMAT just in case I got some wier virus. I back up my favorite Anti-Virus Program and my Firewall to be TOTALLY Protected for the first time connection to the internet. After the Reformat and installing windows I first started playing the game and checking that my DVD's stopped Lagging, and they did!! So I thought about installing the new updates which were like 3 of them. Well after the reboot and everything the LAGGING came back.

So I was wondering if anyone notice this lags or skipping while watching a DVD?

A:Lagging In Video Games With New Updates?

Hey TemoAt first glane i would try and uninstall Uplink: Hacker Elite temporarily and seeing if that helps at all. You might also like to follow the instructions found here. Have you updated your Video Card drivers? Have you checked the video card is compatible to your system?David

Hey there,

I have dual monitors and I get some pretty dismal frame rates when running games. The frame rates get low at intense times usually.

The frame rates are fine at these times with dual screens disabled.

Is there a way to shift more processing power to the port the primary monitor is plugged into?

I have at ATI HD3850 512MB card. I was looking in Catalyst Control Center, but the options are a little over my head and I'd rather not mess with them.

If anyone has some insight that'd be great!

A couple of days ago I was playing games on my computer (everything running smoothly), stopped to do homework and decided to install the 8.1 update while I wasn't on. I come back after restarting after the update and my games lag. Two examples would be League of Legends and Assassins Creed with ridiculously low FPS. HP Pavilion (laptop) Microsoft OS 64-ask for any other specs. So far what I've done:-Re-installed drivers which had the error 43 message. The one on my Radeon went away, but the Intel one comes and goes every time I re-install it only to come back after reboot, either way there is still lag. Edit: Neither get the error message now.-I am currently running a McAfee scan, so if malware/etc is the case I will edit, but I doubt it. Edit: McAfee came up with no results. Currently running defrag using RegCross. Edit: Did recommended repairs. Nothing Fixed.Edit: Right now I'm thinking that maybe it's my games that got scrambled in the update; re-installing Assassins Creed. Edit: Re-installed with no results.I also saw posts about "mouse lag" and a patch for that was put out-I downloaded that as well to no effect. My computer is still on warranty, so I could send it in perhaps, but I don't know what they do/if it would help. Some have suggested to downgrade to 8, but I don't have disks as it was already installed on my laptop. Would rather not pay to fix this issue if possible. Thanks,Word

Just a few days ago, all my singleplayer and multiplayer games have started lagging. They will be great for a minute or two and then get real choppy for about 10-15 seconds and then repeat over and over. It's driving me crazy...everything was working great before.

Any ideas?

When I run videos on fullscreen that use adobe flash player (like YouTube videos) the top and bottom of my screen are black, (the top/bottom of the video is not cut-off, the video just shrinks, with the top and bottom of my screen being empty black spaces). The dimensions of my screen are 1650x1080. I tried running adobe flash player on a new browser and re-installed it, but it hasn't been fixed.

I'm going to assume this is a hardware problem as I've tried XP (which I have reverted back to at the moment), Vista and Windows 7 and I'm still getting the same problem, and I've kind of run out of ideas.

Basically if I'm playing a game such as Colin McRae Dirt or Oblivion etc the game will play fine for about 1 to 3 minutes (approx) then almost stops/crawls for about 20 to 30 seconds where it then speeds up to a really fast pace to catch up with where it should be,

It also seems to do this with large video files, now as far as I'm aware I've had up to date drivers from the websites, I normally use AVG antivirus and Zone Alarm in the background. But I have also tried booting up the PC with no internet and, as far as I'm aware, no programs loaded at startup (including virus and firewall).

Initially I thought it may be usb hardisks attached causing problems however taking these off seems to make no difference. I also thought it may be virtual memory and I have set it for no pages. It seems to buffer (or something like that) constantly for some reason. I run the games on 1280 x 1024 but again it does the same on the lowest graphic levels.

As I said previously I have ran out of ideas or things to try now, has anyone any ideas or had similar problems?

my system is :-
4gb DDR2 800 memory (pair of 2gb OCZ), 500gb, DVD writer, Geforce 8600 (512mb) graphics, creative audigy 2 z5 sound, amd x2 5600+

thanks in advance

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below. Also if you have any programs that may prevent system changes (like Spybot's TeaTimer program, Ad-aware's Ad-Watch, and others), make sure you disable them before doing any of the fixes (or accept the changes for the fix we give you when asked by the programs).

Go to My Computer->Tools (or View)->Folder Options->View tab:
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders (it's Show all files for Windows 98).
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm and then click OK.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Make sure you downloaded, installed, updated and ran these programs (run in Safe Mode) already - Ad-aware, Spybot and Ewido (only if you have Windows 2000 or XP). If you didn't, do them now. For more information, go to

Hello guys! I'm in need of help!

My computer have been acting weird in games for some time now.

Whenever i start a game(No difference in heavy games or light games), it runs perfectly fine for 5-10 min - Then the horribly annoying lags start..

It's like it freezes for a millisecond, and it does it 2-4 times a second...

I'm no computer wiz or good explainer. So i'll use pictures instead!
I know it's from Minecraft, but bear with me...

Notice the redish graph - This shows the freeze/lag spikes when i'm in game - The graph takes 15 second from start to end.. The frequency of the lag is the same in all games..

[Damn i'm not allowed to show links before i've made 5 posts]
This is when i'm in the menu... This is how i believe it normally should be...
[Damn i'm not allowed to show links before i've made 5 posts]

Now as i said, i'm no computer wiz, but after i've read countless problems somehow related to mine, i know i need to give you more infomation. So here we
go! Asks if you need something else!

And i hope you can reply in a way that the most retarded (Me) of people can understand!

A:Computer is choppy in games (lagging 2-4 times every sec)

Hi. I'm not sure, but perhaps a run down of your system specs would be helpful? I mean the hardware stuff: CPU, board, graphics card.

Does your rig "act weird" when you use other applications? Also, have you checked your CPU and GPU temps?

EDIT: Oops, sorry, I see you've got a Radeon 5700 and a dual core.

I have this really weird problem when playing 3rd person games. For example in Resident Evil 5, when I run, the running doesn't go as smoothly as it should. Instead, the character kind of skips and shakes like he's glitching. This only happens to the character. The game doesn't lag at all and runs perfectly. This also happens in Alan Wake and Skyrim. It's really annoying and I don't think it should be happening since I have a good machine. I even tried lowering graphics... still the same. However it does not happen in ALL 3rd person games. Batman: Arkham City and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood don't have this problem.

To sum up, it's just like a regular game lag, but it only happens to the character model. Any help would be appreciated.

A:Characters in games skipping/lagging/shaking

I've added a video to additionally explain my problem.

Extra info: When I played Resident Evil 5 2-3 years ago, I didn't have this problem.

Hey guys, I have a Toshiba Qosmio
Ever since I bought it, it seemed to run games pretty slow contrary to everything I read online about it being one of the best gaming laptops a couple years ago.
I sent it in for a repair and got it back and didn't really notice a difference.

This was on windows 8.
I upgraded to windows 10 and it got worse.
Overwatch will crash every single time I run it (though it used to work surprisingly well).
Heroes of the storm is so laggy it's impossible to play.
Other games will range anywhere from super laggy to being alright to play, depending on the game.

One thing worth noting is that no matter what i try my disk usage is always at 100% (Ironically as I'm writing this right now, it suddenly went down to 0%, that's the first time I've seen that in a very long time).

Please let me know what information I need to provide to help you guys diagnose what is causing my problems.
Thanks in advance!

I have attached dxdiag
