Hi wingy17, Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the information pasted from "Problem Reports and Solutions".

Just Rename SFDAPO64.dll (Related to Sonic) and verify.

It may be due to "Fast Resume". Try this fix from microsoft.

A:'TouchControl has stopped working' when waking from sleep

Hi kateh,
There's a couple of things you could try, try each step if that one fails.
If you haven't done so already, using the model number of your laptop (or the model number of the finger printer read if its for a computer), find the latest drivers from the internet and try installing those.
In search type Device Manager > Right Click > Run.
Locate the finger print reader. It should be under Biometric Devices. It could be under any of the items listed though.
Once(If) found: Right Click > Properties > Under the Power Management Tab > Uncheck: Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. Click OK.

If both of these fail you may want to try disable fast resume (if enabled). BE CAUTIONED: This involves editing the registry, which may cause fatal system errors if done incorrectly. Only do this if you understand the risks and feel confident you can do this correctly. Though it is a relatively easy edit, if you do not follow instructions it will cause problems.
If option 1 and 2 failed and you wish to proceed:
Search > Regedit > Rightclick > Open
Move to >HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HidUsb
Right click in the white area > New > DWord Value > Name This New Value: FastResumeDisable
Double Click this new value (FastResumeDisable) > Type 1 as the value > Click OK
Exit The Registry Editor
Hope one of these helps you out.

I recently installed Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on a machine utilising an Asus M4N82 Deluxe motherboard. I subsequently installed all current drivers for use with Win7 64 bit for the Mobo downloaded from the Asus website. Windows 7 itself found current drivers for the peripherals that it supports. For the first few days all ran well without any issues. Then Win 7 ran some updates and now whenever I awake my computer from sleep mode it tells me that the audio driver is not installed. No audio drivers display in Device Manager either. The sound, video, and audio controllers entry is simply gone! A restart brings it back--or has so far--but what is causing it and is there anything I can do? I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver to no avail. From web searches this seems to be a common problem with no clear answer which likely means it is an issue with MS at the root of it and unwilling or unable to address it.

I have Win 7 on an SSD. Would it be safe to set the Sleep Mode to never or set a clock screensaver?

Any help is appreciated.

A:Windows 7 losing audio driver after waking from sleep...

Solved this one by modifying the Power Options Plan. Set the display to sleep after a time and instructed the computer to never sleep. Seems to be the way most folk are contending with this one.

From time to time I wake my laptop from sleep and find that the audio driver (Conexant Venice) is no longer loaded. The audio hardware is listed in the Device Manager as just "base system device" (or two base system devices, to be precise). Rebooting fixes the problem each time, but it takes a while. Is there a quicker way to make the audio work again than rebooting? I've tried obvious steps like running the troubleshooter and disabling and then re-enabling the devices.

I have a USB mouse (actually a trackball) attached to my laptop. If uses the "HID-compliant mouse" driver.

When the laptop wakes up from sleep mode, the only way I can get the mouse to work is to unplug the USB cable and then plug it in again.

I don't want the mouse to be able to wake up the laptop from sleep (currently it does not do this and that's the way I want it). But I do want the mouse to work without having to unplug it and replug it in every time I wake the laptop from sleep.

Any idea how to accomplish this?

Thank you for any help!

I have searched all over the internet and in this forum for an answer. It seems that others have experienced the same problem, but there never seems to be an answer. I'm hoping someone can offer help, even it the answer is this is unsolvable don't waste your time

When my PC wakes from "Sleep" the Aero Peek preview windows don't work. I only get a text description of each open window, but not an actual preview of the window. The issue can be temporarily corrected via Reboot, but as soon as the system sleeps again the Aero Peek preview windows are gone again.

The problem most definitely occurs only after waking from sleep, not from Windows turning off the display. If I set my system to sleep in 3 minutes and I immediately awake, the Aero Peek doesn't work. If I set my system to never sleep, the Aero Peek keeps working.

After the system is awaked from sleep, when I right click on the Start button and select Properties for the Task Bar, the Aero Peek check box is still checked but the entire selection for Aero Peek is greyed out.

When I go into the Control Panel, Performance Information and Tools, the Aero Peek selections are not even showing in the menu list to select. However those selections are available when aero peek is working and the machine has not yet gone to sleep.

When I go into the Control Panel, Personalization, and select "Trouble Shoot Problems with transparency and other Aero effects," the system never detects a problem to correct... Read more

As you stated, this is an issue many have, and some find no answer. This seems to be a known issue on AMD systems, and the recommended fix is a BIOS update. It's also suggested to change the advanced power option for hibernate to never, so the PC doesn't go to sleep, then after a period, hibernate. If you've read all this and tried, I apologize, we don't know what you've tried until we suggest. Also, it's a good idea to fill in your system specs so we all know what we are working with. A Guy

All right, I found a weird bug regarding Freesync VS sleep mode... So to enable freesync you need to put the display into Gaming mode. When you to that, you see an actual prompt that says "AMD Freesync: ON" at the top. Then you enable it in the driver and you should be good to go.However, when you set Gaming mode the brightness and contrast go to 75% each which is WAY too bright for my taste, so I lower it down to 25% and 50%. When I do that, the display changes from Gaming to a "personalized settings". Freesync still works perfectly fine, that is UNTIL the monitor goes to sleep... when it wakes up (no matter after how long), all my settings are preserved but freesync is DISABLED!!!!In order to reenable it, I need repeat all my steps (OSD - gaming mode, lower brightness and contrast) EVERY TIME....I also tested what happens if I change into gaming mode without changing any of the defaults afterwards: Freesync remains enabled after sleep. So the bug lies when you change any settings AFTER going into gaming mode....I also tried installing the HP Display Assistant thinking I could at least control things without going into the OSD and sadly it cannot activate gaming mode, so I am stuck using the physical buttons on the OSD.Otherwise this is the perfect display for the price, it has everything I was looking for and the resolution for this size is perfect at 100% scaling. If someone could help me out with this freesync bug I would be thrilled!

I've a problem with my R840 running win7pro + SSD.

After waking it from sleep:

- no USB activity (but there is power in the ports since I can see the leds on in the external HDD or mouse)
- my Bluetooth mouse stops working
- my internet connection will work after 1 or 2 minutes of waiting
- and...the laptop will not shutdown unless I press the physical on/off button for 5 secs or so!!!

In device manager everything seems ok! The Power management in all the devices/USB hubs etc are set to not turn off the devices to save power!

Already clean booted the laptop several times and the problem remains!

Everything is just fine if the laptop do not sleep!
But I put it in a sleep mode and the I wake it I have all those problems!

Any sugestions?

Best Regards,

A:Tecra R840 do not shutdown after waking from sleep (USB, BT is not working)

In my opinion it?s very difficult to provide a solution to this problem because the software (OS) as well as the hardware (SSD) has been changed.

Therefore the issue could appear due to new software and hardware change as well as missing or wrong drivers.
To me it looks like the issue requires further investigation.

Did you notice the same problems using the Toshiba preinstalled system and using the original HDD?
I think this should be checked firstly.

By the way: is BIOS up to date?

So there are a couple of times (not very often) when my keyboard OR mouse doesn't work after waking up my Win 10 system from sleep. What I do is to let it sleep and wake it up again and everything seems to be normal again. Not something major but definitely an annoyance. The weird thing is that when this issue happens the LED's on my keyboard or mouse are lit up so there's definitely power coming from the USB ports.

A:Keyboard/Mouse not working randomly after waking up from sleep

Sounds like somethings running in the background. Check to see if any devices are plugged in , printer, camera, usb flash drive... and see if removing them helps resolve the issue.

Every other time I play a video or a song, I get this popup window..

The only way to fix it is by right clicking on the little speaker by the clock, clicking sounds, then it asks if I want to turn the audio back on.

It's so irritating, how do I fix this?

A:Windows Audio Has Stopped Working :(

This is caused by stapo64.dll, which - from name - is a driver by IDT Audio. If you are not sure about this device and/or its driver, whether or not it's actually a component of your PC, then you'll wanna check the driver using The file's located in Windows/System32 directory. If the file turns up clean, then find an update for it at your audio device manufacturer or your PC vendor's website.

I have a dual boot Win 7, Win 8 setup. Suddenly the audio has stopped working on Win 8. (Works fine on Win 7) I checked for driver updates, even "installed" an old driver which didn't actually install. The volume control shows its trying to work, puff of green comes and goes at the bottom of the slider.

If you have had this problem and solved it please let me know. Other suggestions welcome however I've tried "cleaning" for other concerns and that made a real mess of the setups for several programs. I suppose I could do a refresh but that's equivalent to a re-install... what a pain.

A:Windows 8 Audio suddenly stopped working

I guess I looked in the wrong place for answers and they moved my posting to this area. Unfortunately it appears others have the same problem with no solution. I did try updating the video driver along with all available Win 8 updates. Still no audio.

I have all my programs running well on the Win 7 partition so I'm thinking of doing a Refresh. If that "refreshes" back to the original installation I assume the many many updates will be required. Any idea how long that will take?

I bought a Gateway E56R41u to replace my Acer netbook. I'm really happy with this machine. However, I downloaded the free upgrade to Windows 8.1 and my audio quit working. A:Realtek HD Audio stopped working after I upgraded Windows

There is a generic driver available from RealTek, but if you have reinstalled the correct driver from Gateway, I doubt that the direct from RealTek will help.

Are there any other problems that you are aware of, after the 8.1 update? I don't recall this being a problem with audio.

Go to the Device Manager and display what is listed in the Sounds Video and Game Controllers section. Post back on what is listed there, including any error codes. Better yet, post a screen shot of that section.

I have a Dell Optiplex 780 desktop running Windows 10 successfully until this morning when the on-board audio has stopped working. Note that I am talking about the built in speaker not plug in ones. I can still get sound if I plug in headphones but I prefer not to use them and I want to know what's up.

I figure that there might have been a windows update that may have changed things but I'm no expert.

Thanks in advance

I leave my computer running WMC and put it to sleep at night. I can see the blue light (power on) blinking slowly indicating that sleep is occurring. The next morning or sometime after the computer is put to sleep the blue light is on (not blinking) at this point there is not disk activity(red light blinking). I try to wake the computer up however nothing works, Mouse, keyboard, PS2 keyboard, Power buttton pressed fo 5 seconds, or reset button. So I have to uplug power, wait five seconds, and restart. The first thing that comes-up is "windows is resuming", then nothing, then corrupted graphics, then blank again, then a variety of windows screens, and finally a full screen of window and lots of disk activity. I have removed most non-WMC software to narrow problem and have checked to see what programs are running at night and what errors I am getting. The only thing significant is the warning about optimization (done at 2:00 AM) unable to complete due to slideshow. Any ideas.

Hello, I am new to this website however had a question regarding svchost.exe crashing. I am fixing a friend of mines laptop, ended up having to format and reinstall Vista home basic 32 bit. Its a pretty old toshiba satellite model L305-s5955. I am very tech savy and have never run into a PC problem i couldnt fix be it hardware or software, however i cant stand Manufactured PC's or notebooks due to their "touchyness" when it comes to certain hardware etc. My problem is after doing a fresh install of Windows, and loading the drivers (from the toshiba website) pertaining to this particular model, i encountered svchost.exe stops working and the explorer loses it's aero look. I believe i have narrowed the problem down to the wifi driver, seeing as how after 3 clean re-installs of the OS (due to a BSOD that caused a restart and occured everytime the bios was done booting) the problem only seems to occur after i install the Realtek wifi driver. I have looked at the event log but cannot seem to definitively say this is what is causing the problem. i figure it may be pertinent to also mention one of the logs in the event viewer mentioned ntldr.dll in one of the crashes related to svchost.exe. However this was before i did the clean reinstall and may not have anything to do with it, but i cant say for sure. I have not had a BSOD happen on this third reinstall yet, so i do not have a "dump" of what caused the BSOD, just the log regarding svchost.exe, which happens be... Read more

I had a problem a few months ago on Windows 8.1 I was unable to solve so I reinstalled windows 8 and was able to put my computer to sleep and wake again. Upon re-updating to Windows 8.1 I once again have the problem of a crash when trying to come out of sleep.

Some reason I cannot find your motherboard model. Can you either provide me with your motherboard or computer model so I can point you to drivers?

Some of the most common problems include bad drivers, heat inside the case, or bad programs.
To find sleep problems specifically, follow these guides:
Wake Source - Read Event Viewer Log - Windows 7 Help Forums -read sleep logs, let me know what it says
Power Options and Sleep Mode Problems -make sure everything is squared away
Lastwake Command - Windows 7 Help Forums -find out what woke your computer, and let me know
Devices - Allow or Prevent to Wake Up Computer - Windows 7 Help Forums -disable any device that you do not want to be able to wake the computer

If you do not know how, I can point you in the right direction after you give me your system specs. But I am basically going to send you to your motherboard's website to download and install all the most recent windows 8.1 x64 drivers for it. I'll look into this a bit more and then wait while you reply

Hey all,

I usually leave my computer in sleep mode, and wake it up when I need it. I almost never shut it off or restart, except when installing updates.

Recently, I switched my computer on from sleep and the display remained black, although the monitor informed me there was an input signal. After disconnecting and reconnecting the video cable from the monitor to the computer, and failing to receive any response from the computer when I used my input devices, I used the rest button to restart the machine.

Immediately after booting into Windows I got the notice that Windows had recovered from an unexpected error, and that it was a BSOD.

I've already downloaded and run the SF Diagnostic Tool, and I'm attaching the resulting zipped file to this post.

Additional information:

In my power settings, I have my display turn off settings set to 20 minutes. I have sleep set to Never, as I do it manually. I also have the high performance plan selected.

I am running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, and the rest of my specs are in the attached file.

Every time I put my computer to sleep, and wake it up I get a blue screen that says kernel data inpage error. If you wake it up right away it doesn't seem to happen, but after around 3 minutes it bluescreens.

Please remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads
You can use MagicDisc as an alternative.

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.
Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot. Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Hi, thanks for your time. I appreciate what you guys do! I'm running Windows 7 64-bit.

*edit* The actual error says, "Host process for Windows services has stopped working." I'm not sure if that is svchost.exe or if it's something different. Anyway..

Just yesterday I was browsing a forum where I've been a regular at for years. I clicked on a thread and immediately began getting the same pop-up from Windows Defender saying that a programn named uinf3p56[1].exe is requesting administrative access to taskmgr. Which I denied about 10 times before I stopped.

I did a CCleaner scan. I did an Avira scan and it turned up nothing. I then ran Malwarebytes and it said I was infected with a Backdoor.Agent. So I quarantined it and restarted my computer.

Now everytime I boot my computer I'm getting a black screen that lasts like 10 seconds before the desktop loads, slowly. Plus, I'm getting those Host process errors. Everytime I run a HijackThis scan it gives me an error saying,

"For some reason, your system denied write access to the Hosts file. If any hijacked domains are in this file, HijackThis may NOT be able to fix this.

If that happens, you need to edit the file yourself. To do this, click Start, Run and type:

notepad C:\windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

and press Enter."

The message goes on in detail and then does the scan. I can give you the log if you need it. But at this point I'm clueless, whi... Read more

I have been experiencing irritating problems which are normally resolved by restarting; maybe 5 minutes. I ran Reliability Report and found that most days svchost.exe_MapsBroker, version: 10.0.10586.0, time stamp: 0x5632d7ba stopped working / critical event. I have been through the SFC + DISM processes above and now find myself at the Refresh point. I anticipate that will take maybe 4 hours = W10 + my programmes + my display / layout. I have already spent a few hours getting to this stage as I had to download a W10 iso file. At present I can live with situation.
Is there a way my MapsBroker problem can be resolved without resorting to Refresh?

Last week had a pop up that said winrscmde has stopped working. now it wont go away. cant use firefox anymore so now using IE. ran several Anti virus and malware programs. Malwarebytes listed trojan.svchost quarantined and removed it, but its still there. While running DDS scan, pop ups occurred(PEV.DAT stopped working, Find String (QGREP) Utility, Freeware implementation of REG.EXE, SED.DAT, Registry Console Tool. Had to constantly close those "stopped working" messages to complete scan. there were no messages in the DDS Notepad. Attach.txt is attached.

The soundcard I work with is an M-Audio Delta Series 2496 Audiophile PCI card. I've been using this card without problems for about 5 years.

Today the card seems to have stopped working and I suspect it has something to do with recent stuff I've been doing with my computer.

Here is stuff I did prior to my soundcard's failure to work. I have no idea which if any of these things are related to the problem or not. I also have know idea at what stage the sound stopped working.

- a friend came with an mp3 player (Creative ZEN Jukebox). He had some data on it (using it as a kind of external hard drive) which he wanted to transfer to my computer.

- I downloaded/installed the latest driver and plugged it (via USB) to my computer. The computer recognized the device, but for some odd reason it did not show all the data. We tried several things including re-downloading and re-installing the driver and installing a media player app by Creative but nothing worked. I uninstalled the driver and the Creative app.

I have been using sleep mode for a while. Until recently, I had to re-install my OS due to some troubleshooting and hardware issues. Now my PC won't wake up from sleep mode with the new install. She goes to sleep, and when I try to wake her up, she powers on, for like 2 seconds and then shuts off. I have to turn on the power switch to get it to boot. My pc is not a generic brand pc. It's a custom built water cooled pc. I haven't noticed any new driver installs. I have performed a clean start up with no insight to what the issue could be. Event viewer only shows what I expected.

What I have Tried to Solve This Issue(and a number of other issues)At first I thought this problem could be due to an overheating graphics card. So I tried manually setting the fan speed on the card to 65 (previously set at 37). The card now runs at a decent temperature, 50C.
Next I tried disabling the Fast Startup mode in Power Option > System Settings. This did not work either.
I then opened device manager and tried updating the GPU driver. It was already fully up to date so this did not solve anything.
Next I tried disabling this "Unknown driver." This did nothing, still crashed. I tried uninstalling it, however, it re-installed itself.

I'm getting no sound after resuming from S1 sleep mode in Windows 8 and the only way to fix this is to either physically unplug the audio cable and plug it back in or restart the computer. I tried the audio troubleshooter and it could not find any problems and there is nothing to fix. I need to reconnect the audio cable every time the computer wakes up from sleep unless I restart the computer. I have an EVGA X58 motherboard with a Realtek ALC889 audio chip. I'm using the latest R2.70 audio driver from EVGA which is the same version as on the Realtek website.

I am having this exact same problem. I too, have recently upgraded to Windows 8 and updated my Bios. I also updated my Realtek drivers to the newest drivers. Oddly, I think my problem occurred after the updates. I do not think it was doing this using the Windows 8 stock driver. So it was either the new bios update or the Realtek driver (High Definition Driver (3.50) R2.70) update that introduced the problem. I may try rolling back the driver and see if the problem persists.

Over the past couple of days, my computer has BSOD whenever I wake it from sleep. It runs (mostly) fine, and boots up normally.

Here's my diagnostic.

Thank you!

A:Windows 8.1 64bit BSOD On Waking From Sleep

Your BIOS dates from 2012. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard. If possible, use the "inside Windows" flash mechanism (if your OEM provides one).

You have a Realtek RTL8723AU Wireless LAN 802.11n USB 2.0 Network Adapter:

I do not recommend using wireless USB network devices. Especially in Win8/8.1 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7 and later - using Vista drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have Win8/8.1 drivers - DO NOT use Vista drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.

These devices don't have drivers installed:

Not Available ACPI\INT3400\2&DABA3FF&2 The drivers for this device are not installed.

Not Available ROOT\NET\0000 The drivers for this device are not installed.

PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controller PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0153&SUBSYS_397717AA&REV_09\3&11583659&0&20 The drivers for this device are not installed.

By direction of usama I have created this thread to specifically address this issue, which is similar to the one in this thread:
I am having an issue on my Asus Laptop with Kaspersky installed.  My wifi has been randomly cutting out infrequently and will not reconnect to a network without restarting the computer (no BSOD, however).  But, frequently when attempting to wake my laptop from sleep (almost every time), I get a BSOD a couple seconds after the welcome picture appears.  This activity started on August 27th, and has continued every day since.
The error stated is IRQL_not_less_or_equal
Looking further, I used Driver Verifier to find the specific driver file.  This crashed my computer nearly instantly after pressing the power button on the Asus logo screen.
The driver found was this mysterious klupd_klif_arkmon.sys
There is nearly no documentation of this driver at all on the internet.  Only a couple threads on bleepingcomputer, created within the past few days, mention it.  They seem to think it has something to do with Kaspersky.

I am stumped.
The Bluetooth service BTHSERV, runs fine when my system is started, my Bluetooth devices all connect and everything is fine.
However if my PC sleeps, upon waking the Bluetooth service no longer functions and no devices connect.
If I try to restart the service, nothing happens it just says trying to stop. The only way to get BTHSERV to stop and restart is to completely reboot the PC.
I ran a scan and all the files on windows check out as okay.
I even have the Bluetooth radio set that it will not turn off to conserve power but this makes no difference.
It appears that the service is the issue.
This is a brand new motherboard, and a fresh install of windows 7 64 bit with all updates.
Small Update: If I put the PC to sleep twice when it wakes up the Bluetooth service starts to work again. This is strange. Must be a better solution though.
Any help is very much appreciated.

A few months ago I built a new PC:
If I close-down using the 'Sleep-mode', then recovery can be slow.

And occasionally upon boot-up, I would get a system error, saying it couldn't recover my previous data from before the 'sleep' so any un-saved data would be lost. ...And that I should check for a firmware-update.

NB: I'm used to Win XP, which I found logical to navigate, but in comparison, Win 7 is a nightmare !
...And this seems to be the issue with all the later MS software I've been forced to install as a result of my PC upgrade. Someone out there (preferably not MS) should design a better mousetrap !

Moan over:

So I tried to do some digging around the Win7 logs etc.,
and found some info that seemed to suggest that this is because the file (that's responsible for saving any open-data) was not saved correctly when I put the PC into the sleep mode.

Now I'm not sure if this is the case, especially as I'm not to sure how to trouble shoot this problem in Win 7 !

When I built the PC, I installed all the driver supplied on the mobo-CD, & never got round to checking to see if more recent mobo-bios was available.

So do I need to update the mobo-bios ?
There seems to be mixed advice, many saying its downright dangerous, and will/can damage the mobo, and the mobo-manuafacturer saying there's no problem, and I should do it !?

You have quite a range of error codes in there, usually indicative of some kind of Hardware Fault.

The above drivers do need to be updated.

First 2 are related to your CD drive - So update any drivers and software that are related to it.

3rd driver is a kind of remote desktop driver.

Update your remote desktop software from here:

Or here if you use LogMeIn instead:

I take it you have already done Memtest and SFC?

I've been trying to fix this for a couple weeks, reinstalling windows and tests hardware and nothing. Windows will work for a couple days and then randomly it'll just crash windows after turning back on. I'm thinking it's a possible driver issue but not sure. Explorer.exe will crash too if I click on anything. It will get worse and worse until I just can't boot windows and everything is slow, can't use safe mode, can't use system repair and keyboard and mouse randomly wont work sometimes if i make it to the log in or system repair menu. I can't pinpoint the issue. I thought maybe it was memory issues from ram or HDD or even faulty motherboard.

I have two issues which may or may note be related. I have a Toshiba Laptop A665 Satellite and I replaced the hard drive several weeks ago. I then loaded the factory installation application that I ordered from Toshiba, with Windows 7 home premium. The computer then occasionally crashes while I am working on it, getting the BSOD. In addition, every time the computer sleeps and I subsequently wake it up, it crashes at the Windows 7 sign on screen. I then start it up and it boots up fine and runs. I ran the BSOD tool and I am attaching the results. Anybody have any ideas on what the issue(s) or problems could be?

Hi all,

I have an issue with a BSOD (usually Memory Management) it occurs when I wake my computer. If the computer has been cold booted then its fine always, but when I put it to sleep and wake it up I get the BSOD woes...

I'm not sure what is causing it, I think "maybe" the graphics card because sometimes when it wakes, Aero is disabled for a while then just seems to enable itself and sometimes when I wake, the computer doesn't actually come back on at all, all you can hear is the graphics card fan spinning like crazy before the controller kicks in and slows it down.

The fan spinning fast is normal, it does this when I cold boot it until the controller can kick in (probably the bios) and slow the fan down to the speed it needs to be running at.

I ran MemTest for a fair few passes and nothing came up, I have 4 x 2GB Corsair DDR2 RAM chips, 800Hz I've forced them in the bios to 1.9V too, to see if it made any difference to the crashing (it hasn't)

It hasn't always done this either, so I'm unsure if it's something I've installed, hardware failure, or driver issues.

I've attached the relevant diagnosis files. (7zip'ed to a zip file using ultra compression, not sure if that makes a difference)

Hope someone can help :)

Symptom: Device is disabled.
Cause: A device is disabled preventing it from working properly.

It's just a guess but maybe if you have the LogMeIn driver disabled, but still allow the LogMeIn program to start on bootup, perhaps this causes a conflict and results in a system crash.

When I first upgraded my spare desktop to Windows 10, all was well, so I put it to sleep and did some work on my laptop. About an hour later, I noticed that the desktop woke up by itself. I just shrugged it off, thinking that I may have brushed the keyboard accidentally. Well, it also occurred in the middle of the night that same day.

Last night, my laptop woke itself up from sleep mode. (I have my laptop connected to my TV, so the screen is always opened) around 3 AM.

I never had this problem with Windows 7. Is this happening to anyone else, or is it just me?

If this is incorrect, simply link me to a similar thread on the issue, and I'll post there/try that solution. Whatever makes more sense.)

Simply put: almost every time my computer has woken up from sleep mode, it has woken up into a BSOD. I can't name any new software or hardware I have installed that might have brought this about. I bought it new fairly recently, and the only hardware I put in it are a microphone and a mouse. The closest I can think would be installing DirectX 9 as part of Civ V, but since the problem comes from before this event, I doubt that is the cause. I have tried installing updates, hoping that might fix this, but this has not helped. Here's a link to the ZIP file the Diagnostic on this site has given me:

Also, this may not be related, but for completeness, I'll list another issue that might possibly be related. Sometimes, after restarting my computer, Japanese characters fail to display properly in a lot of programs. I can see it just fine in Chrome, but if I mouse over Chrome to preview the windows, for instance, and the page title is in Japanese, I simply get the "couldn't figure out what this is" boxes.

Gateway DX4710-09 running Vista HPx64/sp2/all updates. Worked fine (I guess) for 9 months using the default Power Saver power plan. Sometime in the last month the automatic changeover to "sleep" mode stopped working. If left alone the computer will finally go into the "hibernate" mode by itself in accord with the plan setting. Same problem occurs with Balanced and Hi Performance plans - won't go to sleep by itself but goes into hibernate OK. It can be put to sleep manually with the start menu "hybrid sleep" button but won't then go into hibernate mode by itself. All they can say is to do a complete restore. By the way, can someone tell me if W7 is easier to use than Vista? If so I'm ready to switch right now. I've used W3.1 & Quickbooks for years in my business and I have to say that Vista is the most infuriatingly convoluted thing to use I could possibly imagine, particularly for a computer dummy like myself. Any help will be greatly appreciated since my level of competence at this sort of thing is near zero and Gateway customer support is nearly useless.

A:automatic sleep stopped working

Go to power options, to any of the three items on the left hand side with an icon by them. Ensure that Send the computer to sleep is set to a reasonable level.

By the way, you could try clicking "change advanced power options", from which you can also conveniently change all three plans without constantly having to flick back and forth between pages.

Attached is the dump file.

Thanks in advance,

A:Windows 8 Release Preview crashing upon waking from sleep

Please provide this info:

A couple of problems were noted when I ran the memory dump:

You have the 2005 version of ASACPI.sys installed - it is a known cause of BSOD's in Win7 systems. I suspect that it'll do the same thing for Win8 systems. Please go to the Asus website and download/install the ATK0110 ACPI Utility driver for your system/motherboard. If you can't locate the driver, please provide the exact make and model of your motherboard.

Your optical mouse drivers date from 2009. Please uninstall them and use the default Windows mouse drivers to see if that helps.
If you need the functionality that these drivers offer - please ensure that you get an updated version of the driver that's dated from after the release of Win7 (at a minimum).

The BSOD blames your ATI drivers. Please:
- uninstall your current ATI drivers
- use this procedure to install the DRIVERS ONLY: ATI video cards - DRIVER ONLY installation procedure

Hi there,

I wonder if you are able to help.

About a week ago my beloved Dell Laptop died so I have quickly had to buy a second hand replacement due to financial constraints.

The "new Laptop" is as follows:-

Acer Emachine E625
AMD Athlon TF-20 1.60 GHz
3.00 GB Ram
Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1
160 GB Harddrive

It has been bought with a fresh install of Windows 7 but on a nearly daily basis when turning the Laptop on it has asked for many updates. For example 2 days ago it asked for 208 Essential updates, yesterday 8 and today 33! Is this normal? I can understand when a fresh copy was loaded maybe updates were not done but they seem tobe more everyday!

The main problem I am having is is turning it off. I have found if I put the Laptop into Sleep or Hibernate when I wake the computer it has a blank screen and won't wake up. I have started to use Shutdown but most nights the computer turns itself on in the middle of the night and when I try to open the lid again iI have the same problem and it won't wake. So on every occasion I have to turn it off and so it restarts with the would I like to turn on in safe mode! I am sure this is not very good for the laptop.

I have not used Windows 7 before and really can't find a solution online.

Any help would be very much appreciated before I go mad or try and get my money back!

Kind Regards

I've been searching around online for the past few hours trying to find a solution from this, to no avail.

I recently upgraded my old computer's motherboard/cpu to an Asus Z87-PRO and i7-4770K respectively.
At first I didn't bother doing a fresh install; I just uninstalled the old Mobo drivers and installed the new ones, which I thought worked at first. That is, until my computer first went to sleep.

Every time it wakes up, whether put to sleep on a timer or manually, it lets me log in with my password and then freezes at the welcome screen.

But here's where it gets weird.
Sometimes, but not all the time, I will get an error stating:

The instruction referenced at 0xXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX referenced memory at 0xYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. The required data was not placed into memory because an I/O error status of 0x0000000e.

Click on OK to terminate the program.

The weirder thing is that when it shows, it isn't always the same process that is named (which is why I didn't include it).

Regardless of whether this happens, it always shuts down after a little bit of waiting, but never reaches the desktop. This issue has *only* happened when waking up from sleep mode, and otherwise the entire system has worked fine (Side note: It also died when it woke up to do automatic updates in the middle of the night).

It does not, however, yield a BSOD, meaning I don't have a memory dump to go from.

When I try to wake my machine from S3 sleep mode I see the hard drive lights power up but nothing happens, I get a black screen for about 5-6 seconds then my machine proceeds to boot loop itself until i manual shut it down with the power button.

Sometimes it will start up regularly with no problems, and about 60-70% of the other times it will do the problem i have explained above.

Id really appreciate any help on this it is driving me crazy.

Most sleep problems are Display Driver related. Update yours now. If newest, try another recent one.

Enter Power Options, on Balanced plan, set Sleep to 1 minute, Hybrid Sleep on, Hibernate to 2 minutes. Observe what happens. Will it shut down after hibernating, then resume normally?

Last night Windows 10 did an automatic upgrade, which forced an unexpected restart, caused me to lose what I was working on, and then took about 2 hours to complete installing the Windows 10 updates before I could access the machine again.

But the worst part now, after the computer goes into sleep mode, when I try to awaken it, the computer lights up, starts working according to the HDD light, but then the screen stays black. No way to get the screen to come back on without forcing a reboot by holding down the the power button.

Everything was working just fine before the Windows 10 update. Had no problems at all. Now I am screwed. I don't know how to fix this.

I have gone through every setting in Power Management, checked everything, everything is set correctly. I don't know what other settings one could change to try and fix this.

It is really difficult to work like this. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Intel eXtensible Controller (by the way I suspect Microsoft is doing some Hardcore spying - by injecting something some Code into the Motherboard-similairly as the KEYS for Windows 10).

Of course, windows was reinstalled 4(!) times, BIOS reflashed (3 times) and still the same thing is happening.
Of course also - fiddled with ALL the settings in there - Disabled all wake on LAN - disabled boot / wake by ethernet, tried switching Wake mode from OS to BIOS, and vice versa - NOTHING helped.

This all started last month, shortly after I tried installing the updates that were prior to Windows 10 (which shouldn´t be any problem, since the system was allready reinstalled 4 times, and in addition 3 times it was installed on Windows 10).

By the way I would like to write some interesting suspicion - When I was doing these reinstalls, I had installed completelly CLEAN install of Windows 8.1 and noticed that there are some bugs - that were fixed in the updates (such as Text displaying in different
language on the locksreen in Windows), that I decided JUST TO CHECK for the updates, and WITHIN SECONDS the Get Windows 10 update was installed, EVEN THOUGH I JUST SET IT TO CHECK FOR UPDATES AND LET ME CHOOSE TO DOWNLOAD, IT AUTOMATICALLY CHANGED ITSELF T... Read more

I recently did some housecleaning with my pc and now the audio isn't working. I had shut off some services, not windows audio service. I also used adaware programs, of which only a few low threat items were listed. Overall the system is pretty clean.
But for some reason the audio stopped working. I have updated the creative soundblaster live drivers just in case. I patched them as well. Still nothing so I uninstalled the audio. I then reinstalled it and also moved it into different pci slots. Windows picks it up each time and everything seems to work fine. If I run Windows Media Player, it acts like it's playing the music. I have a late 2012 iMac that was working mostly fine running Windows 8, but I wanted to do the free upgrade to 8.1 now that Apple has released drivers for it. First, I updated OS X (just to be safe) and then I downloaded and installed the new Boot Camp software/drivers for my computer directly from Apple. Then I booted into Windows 8, went into the app store, and upgraded to Windows 8.1. After the upgrade was done, my installation was mostly the same (it had to reload Office 2013 and it lost some of my folder view settings, but mostly everything seems okay).

However, after the upgrade, I am no longer able to wake the computer from sleep by clicking on the keyboard or trackpad as I was able to do before. They are the default Apple Bluetooth keyboard and trackpad. Windows is the only OS I use on the computer and I always put it to sleep, so this is a major hassle for me. I've gone into Device Manager and both devices are set to wake the computer from sleep, but that's obviously having no effect.

Can anyone help me with this? Thanks

Hello, this is my first post here on this forum.
About a week or two, I Downgraded my Computer (Dell l502x) from Windows 8 to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bits, installed the drivers from the Dell Page, and everything worked good, except for the Realtek HD Audio Driver Version (Recommended for my PC on Dell Website), This is the problem:
When I Start my computer, a message shows up with the following error: "Realtek HD Audio Manager has stopped working" and then, I Have to close the message and open Realtek HD Audio Manager again from the Control Panel. I Have already tried re-installing Windows and the error keeps appearing After I Install that driver, I Was wondering if maybe that version of the driver is faulty or something (It would be weird, since it's the one Dell recommends for this computer on the page)
I Have visited many forums, including this one looking for a fix to this issue, but I have not found a solution yet. So I was wondering if someone had this issue before and has a solution to this annoying problem.
any Help would be appreciated, Thanks.

Here's a picture of the issue im having when I start Windows 7 (It's in Spanish, but I think you will understand it)

A:"Realtek HD Audio Manager has stopped working" at Windows Startup

Try the R275 version on the RealTek site. Its the latest version and will work on your PC. When you run the Realtek installation the first thing it will do is uninstall the current version you have installed and then restart the PC. After the restart it will continue and install the R275 version. This is the version I have on all my PC's for both Win 7 64 bit and Win 8 64 bit.

Download the High Definition Audio Codec R.275 64 bit OS version.

BTW, here is the info on posting screen shots on this forum. You con't have to upload them to a host.

I have a setup of Ctrl+1,2,3,4,5 shortcuts for switching keyboard layouts on Windows 8.1.
Once I boot up my laptop they work just fine and the layouts shortcuts setup window looks like this if I open it:

However now when I close my laptop, putting it into sleep mode, and then open it again, the keyboard shortcuts stop working and if I open the aforementioned setup window, it also looks as if I have none configured:

To get my shortcuts back after sleep mode I have either to reboot the laptop, or assign the shortcuts again manually.

This is a problem I've experienced before on this same machine (Lenovo Yoga 13) with Windows 8 (before the 8.1 update) and I guess at that time it dissapeared after some editing of the list of layouts I use.

However now I've added some layouts to the list, and then removed some of them and so on and here is what I get again.
Maybe there is some branch of Windows Registry involved with the layouts and keyboard-shortcuts messed up and I could simply remove the registry branch and start with a clean slate?

A:Windows 8.1 is forgetting Ctrl+1,2,3,4,5 shortcuts designated for keyboard layout switching after waking up from sleep mode

I've got help with this issue:
Windows seems to overwrite personal layout controls configuration with defaults on some occasions. Hence, the way to have a "permanent" solution basically appears to be rewriting your HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control
Panel\Input Method\Hot Keys with what you have in your HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control
Panel\Input Method\Hot Keys once you've configured your layout-switch shortcuts correctly.
This is in fact an old legacy bug, apparently from the times of Windows XP:
I would love to have it included into the Microsoft's bug tracker, but I don't seem to find my way through

I've seen many posts about fixing the msls31.dll problem with google searches. Microsoft's fix is the sfc scannow which you did and didn't fix it.

Although you have no audio, the best option is another forum section. After you get the msls31.dll problem (and any other system issue) corrected you can then address the sound (if it is still an issue).

The Software section may be a place to start. Repost there, as I can't move this to a different section. Software - Windows 7 Help Forums

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forums and came here because I have an encountered a problem which I cannot seem to fix. I have a custom built pc I put together myself. I'm running windows 7 and over the past year and a half since I've had it there have been no major issues. However, today I restarted my computer to let it do some updates. I have bitdefender and it kept bugging me to do the update. After restarting my pc I suddenly had no audio whether I used headphones plugged into the audio jacks or my Bluetooth gaming headset. I went into audio device management etch and from the outside looking in everything seemed to look fine. I googles the problem and tried to go into my bios. That didn't work and when I tried to access them my screen went black and now when I restart my computer it doesn't show the "Gigabyte" screen before loading windows. It gets worse though. I thought maybe I could fix the problem by reinstalling my realtek hd audio drivers. So I uninstalled them and went to the realtek site to download them. Did that and installed the drivers but they didn't show up when I went to computer/manage under the audio/game section. Next I tried to update them using the install legacy hardware option. Doing this gave me a blue screen and my computer crashed and when I went back into manage computer it showed the realtek was there now but it said no drivers were installed. this morning i blew a bunch of dust out of my system with an air compressor and noticed when i turned it back on it wasn't giving audio anymore.

tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers that didn't work.

The Tv still comes up in the "Set up digital audio" options in the control panel, but windows isn't seeing the audio anymore.

any ideas?

A:TV audio just stopped working.

Is HDMI set as the default audio playback device? HDMI audio either is generated internally in the video card or is fed from a digital audio S/PDIF connection on the motherboard. Since you were inside, either the cable connection has been disturbed or if that is not how yours works, reseat the video card and see if that helps (Reseat - with the PC powered off, remove the video card then reinsert making sure its fully and correctly seated on the motherboard).

My computer's onboard audio recently stopped working. The Realtek High Definition Audio Speakers suddenly show as "Not plugged in" in the Playback devices dialog.

Coinciding with this, five new devices, all "Speakers," all showing as "Ready" or one of the defaults, have appeared: WsAudio_DeviceS(1) through WsAudio_DeviceS(5).

None of these WsAudio_DeviceS produce any audio when tested; I have tried this with both my speakers and some headphones.

The Realtek Digital Output still appears as "Ready," which isn't useful, given that I don't have any S/PDIF devices.

I have tried connecting some wireless headphones with a Bluetooth dongle I had lying around, but I couldn't get them to work very well (nor could I back when my speakers were working). Recording with a USB microphone works fine, but I haven't tried it through the onboard audio Line In jack.

Looking at other, similar problems on forums, I found many people who were able to resolve this problem by changing the settings in the Realtek HD Audio Manager, which I don't have for my MSI PH61A-P35 motherboard. The only effect that reinstalling the audio drivers had for me was uninstalling the drivers for my USB keyboard for no reason.

Does anybody have any ideas about how I can get audio to work? I haven't been able to find my old PCI soundcard, but I'll try that if I find it.

But if that was so, wouldn't the audio cards not be read by the system? So, I don't know, so confused.

Both audio playback through the integrated sound card and recording through a USB microphone stopped working suddenly
I cannot play back or record anything
No application software can find the either the sound or recording channels.
In device manager both recording and playback devices are listed, enabled and working properly.
If I launch an audio track the sound bars levels against the device do not move. The speaker next to the clock is present and does not have a red cross through it.
The first thing I did was do a system restore to a couple of days previously when I know it was all working - still nothing.
I have checked the BIOS to make sure audio is enabled and set to automatic - it is.
Cannot be the integrated sound card - Dell XPS 430 - because the separate USB microphone does not work either.
It is like all audio functions have stopped being accessible to software applications, although Windows 7 Ultimate 64 sees them as present, enabled and working.
So Windows sees the audio devices, Windows applications do not.
Any ideas please?

Do headphones work?  How about bluetooth?  Bluetooth adapters are pretty cheap, I paid $15 for mine, but I'm told you can get them for as little as $5.  I have a problem with my Toshiba laptop speakers that I've circumvented with bluetooth speakers when home, and headphones when I'm not.
Good luck.

My sound randomly stopped working today.
I turned on my laptop (from hibernation) and noticed that sounds weren't playing.
I have tried fiddling with everything. I restarted the Windows Audio service, and checked everything having to do with my sound card and drivers, and it says there isn't any problems. I have rebooted my computer a few times, and tried remote restore, but it hasn't fixed it.
I haven't seen any error messages.
I looked in event viewer, and I can't find anything that has to do with Audio.
When I mute the sound, I can hear the static buzz sound that my speakers make stop.
If I unmute the microphone I can hear that work through the speakers, but I still can not play any sounds from my computer.
When I record sound with Sound Recorder, it shows the wave forms as it plays, but all I hear in the speakers is the buzz that they make when they are turned up.

I can't think of anything that I may have done to change the Audio.

Thanks for any help.

A:Solved: Audio Stopped Working

I disabled the audio device and rebooted my computer.
The sound seems to work now.

Hi guys,

I wonder if anyone can help.

My wife was using our PC, playing an online puzzle game, and she muted the sound.
When I came to use the PC myself, I noticed the sound was muted, so I un-muted it, expecting all to be good again, but it wasn't.
No sound at all !
After messing around for quite a while, I tried uninstalling and re-installing the drivers, that hasn't worked.
I've just done a system restore, and that hasn't worked either.
I've run MBAM & Microsoft Security Essentials, and neither has shown any problems.
I'm at a total loss, please help.

Many thanks in advance

I have a Samsung laptop (about 4 years old) which has worked fine. Sound still works fine. About a month ago I noticed that when I plug in headphones the sound would come through both the headphones and the pc speakers (instead of just the headphones like it had been doing for years). Then about a week ago, the headphone jack stopped working altogether. Sound only comes through the pc speakers. Seems like a software thing to me. The jack does not appear damaged in any way. Nothing is jammed in it and it doesn't feel loose.

Here is my Realtek Audio Manager

Here is my device manager

Here is system information

Here is sound information

I have tried uninstalling all of my sound drivers and having them reinstall on a reboot. I tried a number of things I found on the internet. (ie My "little yellow folder" in Realtek Manager is missing. My "show disabled devices" does not reveal anything, etc). I have not dropped the laptop and nothing has spilled in it. I really don't see how anything could have physically damaged the jack (unless it just failed from use)

Please advise. Thanks so much for what you all do. This is a huge help although I know it seems trivial.

I just updated my computer and about 30 minutes after the update the earbuds I use to listen to music just stopped working but my headphones work perfectly fine. It's not an issue with my earbuds because I used them on my phone when they stopped working on the computer and they worked just fine.  It can't be the front jacks that are screwing up because I uninstalled the drivers and installed them again to see if it would work and they installed when I plugged them in the front audio jack. IDT also detects them when I have them plugged in... The earbuds work when I plug them into the audio jacks at the back of the desktop Appearently my computer doesn't want to register the front jacks anymore...

A:Audio stopped working after win 8.1 update

Hi there @McIovin?,Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts and other support personnel. I understand that a set of earbuds are not working in the front audio jack, but they work in the back one. Also a set of headphones do work in the front jack. I am happy to help with this. Have you tried a different set of earbuds? If you apply light pressure on the earbuds when in the front audio jack, is there any change? Please let me know.

hi all.
For some reason my realtek audio has stopped working on my windows7 64bit system.
I just turned it on this morning. No sound.
I checked in playback devices and noted that under 'speakers' it tells me "Realtek high definition audio not plugged in"
Under that there is 'Realtek Digital Output' and this says "Realtek High Definition Audio Default Device"

The speakers are plugged in an I have tested them on another system to check they are working.
I have opened the Realtek HD Audio Manager and noticed that all analog back and front panel jack inputs are grayed out.
I have uninstalled all Realtek drivers and software. I have rebooted and let windows find the audio devices again and install drivers.
This made no difference at all.
I have cleaned the registry of anything relating to Realtek.
I have downloaded the latest driver software from the Realtek web site and installed that. This makes no difference either.
I have set the bios back to default. This has made no difference.
In the bios I have set the HD AUDIO option to both 'auto' and 'off'. still no sound.
All connections are in the correct jack sockets.

Could you please help me to get audio back on my system?
I have pretty much run out of things to try.

Thank You.

My audio has stopped working for Windows and Gaim, but Winamp and various games are still fine. I've reinstalled the drivers many times and uninstalled every possible audio device, but I always end up with the same thing.

In Winamp's WaveOut plugin, the first device is messed up.
In DirectSound everything is fine.
In Windows' sound manager, the preview button is greyed out.
I think this means there is something wrong with my wave settings, I just don't know how to fix it. Hope the pics help, let me know if you need more info.

I don't know why but some games that I play have no audio. I go in the settings of the games and its not the game itself. I think its my computer and I'm not sure if its some settings that got put on some how. One thing im confused about is, it's not all the games, some do have sound but its not the ones I play the most. What should I do?

Games I play are, Without sound: StarCraft 2, Diablo 3, Team Fortress 2, Garry's Mod (or simplified my Valve and Blizzard games)
With sound: Terraria, Realm Of The Mad God,

A:smart audio stopped working

You need to be more specific, did your audio (speakers/headphones) stop working, do you get a DirectSound error message. I have found that when the audio cuts out on my system (rare, but does happen), I get it working again by going into control panel, services, and stopping and starting the WINDOWS AUDIO service gets the audio going again.

Not even 2 weeks old? I would strongly advise you work with whomever you bought it from and use the warranty process.

so I have a dell xps1530 with vista. awhile ago i used my laptops hdmi to my tv, the sound and everything worked fine. for some reason now i can't get the sound to default over to it. i know how to usually do it but when i hit make hdmi default audio nothing happens. the kicker is that when i hit 'test' on the hdmi the audio works through the tv, so the cord works and everything, my computer just won't let it become the default. i attached a hijack log if it helps

This happened once before.
I somehow got it back by reapplying the IDT drivers.
However, now seems as though I can't get those drivers to install (error message is hardware not supported by drivers, which it was before and working). Within the device manager, when attempting to update drivers, error comes up saying that the "co-installer" needs to do something.
Any thoughts?
Thank you,
