So, anybody used other one of these LCD displays? VIEWSONIC: ASUS: If yes, please, do post anything you have to say about it! I'd be forever grateful for not having to make a leap into a void of ignorance if I chose to buy one of these. They seem to be decent low-price displays, but you never know. I'd prefer the ASUS one, just because the web store is a new one to me, and I'd like to experience it and it looks a bit cooler to me.

Greetings all,

My ViewSonic VX2450wm-LED monitor is recognized as Generic Non-PnP Monitor. I even downloaded and attempted to install Viewsonic's "Standard_Monitor_Driver_Signed_Win7_x64". It times out at the end of installation and requests I download "Standard_Monitor_Driver_Signed" from Viewsonic website.

My display view is set at max res of 1600x1200. I am running Win7-Ultimate 64bit.

Is there any other way to get Win 7-Ultimate 64bit to recognize the monitor as VX? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am using an NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS 256MB card.

Thank you

A:ViewSonic VX2450wm-LED monitor is a Generic Non-PnP Monitor

If you need to know, here is how I fixed it.
First install ViewSonic's "Standard_Monitor_Driver_Signed_Win7_x64"
Go to Device Manager
Select Monitor drop down tab
Select Generic PnP Monitor
Right-Click on Generic PnP Monitor
Select option "Update Driver Software"
Select "Browse my computer for driver software"
Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
Select from the models listed: Generic PnP Monitor
Select option "Have Disk..."
Select "Browse..."
Navigate to where the ViewSonic monitor drivers are stored
Example: C:\ViewSonic
Select monitor driver
Example: VX2450_SERIES
Click "Open"
Click "OK"
Select from the pop up window:
ViewSonic on the left and ViewSonic VX2450 Series on the right
Click "Finish"

Finally, you will receive the message: Windows has successfully updated your driver software.
Notice resolution is now 1680x1050

After successful install of Nvidia drivers for my laptop's "nvidia geforce 9300m gs" current version:

186.19 to new version: 260.99, the max res cannot be set to the following available resolutions:
1920x1200, 1920x1440 or 2048x1536

About four months ago I bought a supposedly rebuilt Viewsonic P815. About one month after I hooked it up it started to not degause. The screen is pink.

Every once in a while it will correct itself and be fine for a day or two, then it goes pink again. I've replaced cords and plugs.

Any ideas?

I'm trying to decide between the G90FB 19" or the P95F+B...
Here are the links:

The only real difference between the 2 is the fact the Professional one (P95F+B) has an aperture grille while the Gaming (G90FB) has a shadow mask

I know the shadow mask uses dots (dot pitch) while the aperture grille uses lines instead of dots...

Which monitor will give me the best picture for gaming and crisp clear text.

A:Which is the better Viewsonic monitor?

If you can afford it I'd get the Professional version. I had Philips 107P (Professional) monitor with a .25 Aperture grille and it was the best monitor as far as picture quality/clairity I've ever seen (I'm sure there are better, but not without paying major money).

I run XP on a new box and a fairly new 19" (year old) View Sonic LCD monitor. The monitor worked as advertised on my old PC but when attached to my new one I frequently get a flashing green power indicator light and will get no picture.

This happens 100% of the time if I cold start the PC and I have to screw around with the restart button and on/off power button to get it to come back to life and in truth I do not know which combination of button pushing gets it to come back. I now use the power saver mode because that seems to be the most consistent way of bringing the monitor back to life but even that didn't work this am.

ViewSonic's web site wasn't much help.

Help here?

I have a ViewSonic 19" CRT monitor (bought new in '99) connected to a PC that runs Win XP SP2, 512 MB RAM, Matrox Millenium AGP card.

The system ran fine until I moved it (carefully) to another room. The CPU boots but the monitor does not give any video. I get a black screen with a repetetive blue area that indicates no signal. The specific line entry is "No Synch". I think I may have seen this in the past, when the monitor was powered on but the CPU was shut off. I can't be certain it's the exact same condition.

I switched cables and tried a different video card but no luck. I don't have another monitor other than my laptop. I think I can hook it up to act as a monitor but not certain. Can't afford to crash the laptop.

Any suggestions?

I have a Viewsonic VA721 monitor that I was using up until earlier today when the monitor started acting like a scrambled cable tv channel when turned on.

I was wondering if anyone might happen to know as to what might cause that, what the technical term for it might be and as to whether or not it can be fixed.

Up until today I have never had any problems with the monitor. Every time I would walk away from the computer for a while I would shut the monitor off so that I could avoid any burn in problems with it thereby preserving the life of the monitor. Because of that I have never had any problems with it until today and at the moment I do not know what could be causing the problem.

I tried the monitor on two different computers with two different cables and got the same result. I bought the monitor in 2006 brand new and up until today it has served me faithfully without any problems.

I don't know if it can be fixed or even if it is worth it nor do I know if it is something that I can fix myself or if I would have to have someone else fix it.

What I do know is if there is anything that I can do to fix the problem myself and restore it to active service then I might choose to give it a try.

Until I have more answers though I cannot make an informed decision about any of it and that is why I am asking.

I am hoping that there will be someone here that will know about such things and can give me some straight advice and information about the monitor and the pro... Read more

A web page with lots of pictures or the desktop and screen saver are the worst. The monitor flashes off so much on these last pages that I can barely see the page long enough to move the mouse and open a program or expand one from the start bar. Hi and welcome to TSG.

Do you happen to know if you are operating the monitor at or beyond its normal operating range for resolution and refresh rates?

Do you get a stable image if you start Windows with a lower resolution in Safe mode?

In the future, it would help us to help you if you give more details like the model number of the monitor and how it is connected to the computer. The TSG reporting utility program does not produce an exhaustive and detailed report about all of the hardware related to your computer.

My 2nd attempt to get some help off the forums

A few days ago, I tried loading up Warcraft 3, a game, and the screen went black, with the light flashing on and off. If I alt tabbed out of WC3 the screen turned back on. The problem persisted after a restarted, so I left it for a while. A few hours later I tried and W3 worked fine, no problems.

However today I turn on my PC and after a few seconds during the boot up, the screen goes blank with the flashing on and off light again. I restart it and it goes blank even faster.
After a while on the forums (on my GFs laptop) I try pressing F8 before the screen goes blank, and then press ESC for the 'default' Boot option. It goes on to boot up normally, with screen errors. I test out warcraft 3, (since when I first saw this it was whilst starting up this program) and it works fine, and goes on to do so for a few hours, till I turn the screen off and on to see if the problem is permanently fixed. It hasn't, the screen goes black.
Upon restarting my PC I get the same error as before, Pressing F8 and Esc doesn't fix it anymore. However now after pressing Esc I get to the screen where they ask me if I would like to Boot up in Safe mode. I do so and it loads up in safe mode fine.
Later on I try again to get it to load in normal mode, it does first time. Then upon loading Warcraft 3 again, the screen goes black again, with the flashing light. Again rebooting results in the same black screen a few seconds into loading... Read more

I am running Vista Home Prem.I use an 8800 GTS EVGA.I have the latest drivers for my 8800. I run 2 Viewsonic monitors. One is a VG900b and is fine. I also run a VX2235 digital monitor. Both monitors are listed in device manager by model. I manually installed drivers directly off of the discs.I have also downloaded Viewsonic's monitor drivers. I can't get my 22" to go to it's native resolution of 1680x1050.I have had these installed for a long time and working fine. When I ran a hard disc error check that is listed under tools under properties of my computer it erased my 22" and it's capabilities to operate @ native resolution. Another difference is that before I manually installed the VX2235, it was listed as a 'non plug and play monitor' under device manager. I have never seen that before. Does anyone know how to fix this? I am this close to going out and buying a new XP Pro disc.

I just replaced a 1280x1024 Viewsonic monitor, that had gone bad, with another one (Viewsonic VA708).

Though I've never really been one to pay "hard hard" attention to how things look on a monitor - never felt a problem with anything - something just looks/feels "off" with this one.

This is most noticeable to me on the titles appearing on the browser tabs in Firefox. They just look "wrong" - watery maybe to my eye.

BUT... I have attached a screenshot comparing a blowup of a browser tab from my work computer Dell 1280x1024 monitor (top) and my new Viewsonic monitor (bottom), blown up to 1000 px wide (I cropped), and in the blowup, I can't tell the difference.

So why might I be perceiving things differently with this new monitor?

FWIW, I did update the driver from the Viewsonic site, and I also played with both the monitor's and the control panel's display adjustments.

It sounds like the vertical deflection is gone. Try the monitor on a different computer or a different monitor on yours to see where the problem is. If the monitor is bad its better to bury a new one than to pay to have it repaired. New monitors are pretty cheap now.

Hello guys,

So one night when I left my computer on, i wake up at 3AM on a rainy night and i notice my entire room flashing (like from a tv in dark room). I thought I was having a rolling blackout, but as I got to my senses I noticed that my monitor was the only thing turning off and on. I turned it off, and went to sleep. The next morning I went to go turn on my computer and the monitor does the same thing. It turns (about a one to two second delay between each) until I turn the monitor off. The LED light is green. It goes from green, to off, to green, etc. I've had no prior problems with this monitor.

I tried switching out the power cord and plugging it into my wall (not connected to my video card, or anything) luck. It's definately the monitor. I don't know if it's dead or repairable or what. I often leave the computer on over night but i have a 10 minute screensaver and my monitor goes on standby after 20 minutes. When i fell asleep, my monitor was on standby (yellow LED). When I woke up it was the green turning on and off. Doesn't make much sense.

I don't have a my situation is pretty bleek atm.

I have a Viewsonic LCD VX924 3ms that i bought around the holidays of 2005. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Guys, I have no idea whats going on over at Viewsonic, however their support service is lacking some serious SUPPORT!!! Just the other day, I re-installed Vista 64 and had been happily using a x64 monitor driver for my VX2025WM, just before the re-install I decided to trall the net for latest drivers and deleted any old ones I had (stupid I know). Anyway on re-install with the latest unsigned driver - Standard_Monitor_Driver_Unsigned_Windows_x64 - Dated 04/10/2007, it is now telling me it cannot find my monitor. I've also tried the latest signed driver and this is not working either. I have tried a manual install from C:\Viewsonic and funny enough the monitor isn't even listed. I've asked Viewsonic for help with them replying asking me to download the latest unsigned driver (what the???) All I need is a copy of the previous unsigned driver to this one listed and I know 101% it will find my monitor and work, does anyone have it or know where I can find archived drivers, as Viewsonic have not responded to this request. Please help! Cheers in advance.

Just upgraded to Win7 64bit. My trusty old monitor has no sound (the picture is fine) I found a driver for a generic Viewsonic x64 driver, but that didn't solve the problem. I read a suggestion somewhere to uninstall the driver and let Windows find it. That didn't solve the problem either. I tested the monitor with my old (XP) system, in case the monitor developed a sudden fault, but there is still sound when I plug it back in there.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I really don't fancy having to buy a new monitor too, after having had to replace my printer and scanner

A:Viewsonic vx2235wm-1 Monitor has no sound.

What does the monitor require? Older monitors, that use VGA or DVI usually have a Jack to connect from the PC's Speaker out (GREEN) to the monitor for sound. No driver is required for that. There is no audio in a VGA or DVI connection, just video.

My monitor seems to be experiencing some kind of problem.

The best way I can describe it is as a 'widescreen' mode. There is a black bar on the top and bottom of the desktop about 1 inch wide and extending across the entire length of the screen. I cannot move the mouse into this portion of the screen.

When adjusting the horizontal and vertical settings, 100% stops with the 1 inch black bars still in place. I cannot seem to make the desktop fit the screen. It seems to have shifted into some other mode of viewing.

I called Viewsonic tech support, but they didn't really know much else to do besides checking my settings. I am at 1024 x 768 resoloution, Radeon 8500 64MB graphics card, Windows XP and have installed the most recent drivers. Even when booting - the black bars are present, as if the monitor has somehow decided that is the mode it wants to be in.

If anyone has come across something like this before or knows how I might be able to fix it, I'd be MUCH obliged!

A:Viewsonic Monitor E771 Problem.

Might be starting to fail, 3 year warranty on those generally check the date on the back. Absolute easiest think to do would be to try it on another computer. On the other computer see if you square up the image with the screen if you can't then its the monitor, if you can it could be the video card.

I'm stuck between these 3 monitors. The HP 27xi AOC i2757fh or the Viewsonic VX2770SMH-LED 27

They all look similar, but I'm just not sure which one to get. I'm leaning toward the HP 27xi though, but this site rated the AOC i2757fh a little higher over the HP 27xi. I'd like to hear some feedback from you guys.

My main usage is playing games like BF3/BF4, SWTOR and Titanfall when it comes out. I also do a lot of web surfing and occasional movie watcher on this monitor. My current monitor is a 24 inch Asus VW246H and I like it, but I don't love it. So my main concern is how well it displays games. I don't want any ghosting and the least amount of input lag I can find. Now, I know the AOC boasts a slightly quicker response time of 5ms vs the HP's 7 seconds, but the reviews I've read thus far state there is no visual lag from the HP. What do you guys suggest? I need help in making my mind up between the gorgeous Lg 1981Q and the attractive Viewsonic Vx924.

I have recently upgraded my desktop and am thinking about shifting to dual screen, mainly for video and web editing (with a little bit of gaming on the side) and need help in picking out new monitor.

one of my problems is that the looks of the tft is very important to me, cos i cant look at something ugly all the time, i would like a tft which is slim and very sexy (just how i like my women )

If anybody owns either of these screens i would really appreciate their feedback, on how good the monitor is and if they would recommend it.

P.s is there really that much noticable difference between 4 and 8 ms, and if so is it going to be noticable when video editing and gaming.

Never mind, as quick as the problem began, it's resolved itself for some reason. Post can be deleted.

I'm having a bit of a strange issue with my ViewSonic VX2258 monitor.
Out of nowhere, the screen started to flicker (not the sort of flickering you might expect from a loose cable, but literally going completely off and back on) every few seconds. Eventually the screen did not come back on at all.
Thinking there was a loose cable, I tried tightening them but to no avail. The light on the monitor is still blue showing that it is detecting an input and Windows still detects that the monitor is plugged in.
When I turn the monitor off and on, I can see the ViewSonic logo, but oddly enough after that it is a black screen and I am unable to get any system menus to appear (the ones that are generated by the monitor itself, not the PC) or change the source. I would have thought that because of this, there is something wrong with the display but that doesn't seem to be the case considering I can see the logo upon starting the monitor. (Perhaps something to do with firmware?)
I don't think that it is a problem with my GPU as my secondary monitor (a Samsung SyncMaster) still seems to be functioning perfectly but just in case, it is a Powercolor Radeon R9 290X and my drivers are all up to date.
Thanks for the help!

When I run my finger over it it dusn't feel like a scratch, but with the monitor off, or showing a bright white screen its quite evident, and running fingernail over it i can tell its an indentation. Against bright white it looks almost like the effect seen if theres water on your monitor (rainbowy), if that helps at all. Basically i'd just like to be not able to see it, and was wondering if you had any suggestions?

hi all - ive got a problem with my new viewsonic vx2753mh-led monitor. its got 2x hdmi inputs and one vga.

the vga works straight off the bat, but whenever I try and plug the hdmi in it just says no input signal detected and goes black

I noticed in device manager that this was installed as 'generic non-pnp monitor' so after jumping through some hoops i managed to install the driver as 'viewsonic vx2753 SERIES'
Anyway this doesnt seem to have made a difference. still no input through the hdmi.

I have tested to cord on my samsung tv and it worked fine so it can't be a problem with the cord or the graphics card....

just some general info that might be of use:
windows 7 x64
dual monitor setup

the graphics is integrated on the intel i5 chip
my display adapters in device manager says Intel(R) HD Graphics Family.
it has a dvi out, hdmi out, and vga out.

thanks for any help you can give!

A:Viewsonic LCD monitor not recognizing HDMI input signal.

I have a Viewsonic which I'm also trying to run a media PC to connected via an HDMI cable, and I have noticed the exact same thing.

It was working fine for awhile, but recently I have been receiving an error on screen saying the "HDMI to DVI cable as experienced an error" or something to that effect. Note: I am using strictly an HDMI cable, not an HDMI to DVI as the message states (can't explain why I'm getting that message). I did the same thing you did, tested the machine using the same cable on another tv, and it worked fine on the other tv. What's strange is I can connect the cable box to the tv using the identical HDMI cable and it worked fine. Tried again using the same cable from the PC to the tv, and either 1) blank screen, or 2) shrunken screen with the aforementioned error which will go blank once I open Media Center.

Sorry, I don't have an answer, but it seems to me Viewsonic hasn't made a good product in terms of connecting media PC's, for some reason. Of course, my tv is out of warranty at this point. If you find an answer, keep me posted, I'll do the same.

I have a Viewsonic VT2430 monitor/tv, and a Windows Vista 64, with ATI 4200 graphics chip PC.

Just performed windows update on my Dell Inspiron Desktop 560MT - Intel(R) G45/G43 Express Chipset. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium - 64 bit. I have been using dual monitors on the system since purchase. After performing windows update today my second monitor (connected by HDMI) will no longer display. The other monitor (the working one) is connected via VGA. The system does not recognize it is even connected. At start up however it will display up until login window. I am using two ViewSonic VX2453 Series monitors. I am desperate as I have to have both monitors for work. I have tried unplugging and replugging, restarting it with it unplugged and plugged. I uninstalled the update and have tried autodetect on the system all to no avail. Help!!

KChristians, welcome to the Seven Forums.

Sounds like you have WU set to automatically download and install updates, and it updated either the video or monitor driver. If that is what happened check your update history and you can uninstall it from there and should get you back to the previous drive.

Also if that s what it was you might want to set WU to not download and install drivers automatically, step #4 here,

Me and my friend just finished our computer, we had a few issues with the NZXT Phantom case at first: they didn't send us a few screws so we had to go to the local tech store and buy a few, but everything worked out.

Our screen seems to be having a slight problem: the image of the screen is not taking up the entire space provided by the screen.
There is an option that we found: Auto Image Adjust, and I am sure this is the right one, except: it's disabled!

It's a ViewSonic VX2450wm-LED Full HD 1080p
We have Windows 7 installed on it, and everything is working fine.
The Screen Resolution is set to 1920 x 1080.
DPI Setting is at 150%

Thank's for the help!

The text especially is blurry/fuzzy and the screen doesn't take up all the space it should - about 1/2" at the top and sides, bottom is ok. The guy at View Sonic support said it was a video card issue and I would have to figure it out with HP or Intel. Can anyone help me? I have Intel HD graphics. The monitor is Viewsonic VX2270-Smh-LED. Hello! How are you all doing? Well today, I came across this Viewsonic LCD Monitor which looks quiet appealing and of course, being manufactured by the leading display technology company of the world Viewsonic! Heres the link to the product:

Viewsonic VX2433wm (24inch HD LCD Monitor)

Now here's what I need to know:

My main use of an LCD Monitor will be to:

* Watch Movies (Which should include a DVD & High Definition (HD) Quality Videos).
* Play 3D and Normal Games.
* Movies like Jurassic Park, Speed, Titanic, Action Movies, etc...
* Web browsing, doing back work on PC, Listening to music.

So, this in short will be the purpose of using a new LCD Monitor. So far, I am using CRT Monitor.

Once you have gone through the above link, could you kindly let me know how well would this Viewsonic LCD Monitor fair in terms of my above mentioned usage.

BUT NOW HERE's A TwIsT >>> While looking forward to buy an LCD Monitor, one question that kills my decision of buying it is that What if a Touch Screen LCD Monitor will be made available once Windows 7 releases to users. I had it out last night and had it plugged through a Sanyo projector - ie. the computer plugged into the projector and so did the monitor. Would this have done it? Also, carrying it back out to the car when it was raning might have gotten it wet?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Only thing I can think of is that your video settings got changed somehow. Can you put another monitor on your machine, boot up into windows. go to start/settings/control panel/display/settings tab/advanced button/adapter tab/ in the drop down box if refresh rate is set to optimal change it to adapter default, save , shutdown and hook up the other monitor. Long shot, probably won't work

Do I need drivers for the monitor?
New drivers for my HD Card?
New drivers for windows?

Hello Hostelo,

You practically have the same monitor as I do. I have the Asus VE278Q, which is the same but without the built-in camera. I also have similar graphics with a Sapphire HD5870.

I found that using a DisplayPort or DVI connection at both ends worked best for me. I had the same issue of the black border when using HDMI on these monitors sometimes.
You might see if installing the Microsoft certification for the monitor from ASUS below may help.

I'm also using the latest 13.6 Beta 2 AMD video driver.

Hey Everyone.

I recently bought a new LCD HD monitor, because my old monitor stopped working.

I got the Asus LCD HD VW246H and conected my computer (HP Pavillion) through DVI and my PS3 through HDMI.

It worked fine until yesterday when my monitor blacked out...the screen was completely black ( It looked like it was turned off) but the blue light on the power button was still on and no matter how many times I pressed it, the monitor wouldn't turn off and I had to unplug the power cable and plug it back on ( The monitor turned on )

Ever since that happen the monitor blacks out randomly and I have no idea what might be the problem.

It blacks out while I'm using my PS3 and the PC and I checked the power options so thats not causing the problem

My Graphics Card is an ATI Radeon X300 series.

Hope you can help because this was a huge investiment and it's only two weeks old

I'm Portuguese by the ways so sorry for any spelling mistakes

I put on my A6G laptop today, and the first thing I noticed was that the startup screen -- rather than its normal black -- was red. The Windows logo popped up, but the colors were weird. Then it went to the point where it's supposed to go black for a few seconds before the welcome screen, and again that was a red color. Logging in, everything looked off and weird -- sort of pinkish/reddish. I could see greens, blues, browns, yellows, and reds displaying (but again, off and strangely saturated).

Now, I did some searching and LCD monitors that get a "red tint" tend to indicate a dying CCFL backlight. Could this be the case here?

I don't have a picture ATM (I can post one), but the color is _extremely_ uniform -- it's just a solid red when it should be black, no apparent variation. Possibly this can happen with a dying backlight, I'm not sure, but is it possible that it could be an issue with the seating of the video cable or a crimped wire?

I've got some pictures here now:

Note any blurriness is just because of the photos being taken in low light (couldn't get the room any brighter, and flash would wash all the detail out).

The worst thing is that I'm due to take a working vacation at the end of the week, a... Read more

While it's "only" a 32 inch screen this beats ANYTHING I've seen so far by a universe.

Three years ago I bought the Asus VW224 Monitor. It's worked wonderfully every day until this past week. Three days ago, the screen began flickering occasionally - the picture would not go away completely, just dim and then return to full brightness. Last night, the monitor finally dimmed and then went black, although it was still on. If I turn it off and then on again, it will briefly show my dimmed desktop, then go to black again.

I don't mind the excuse to get a new HD monitor, but I'd like to salvage the current one as well if I can. Does anyone know what might be wrong? I'm hesitating to open up the thing and look at the board until someone with experience advises me to do so.

I have 3 monitors, BenQ RL2450, two of them via DVI and one via HDMI.

Issue, HDMI connected monitor goes black every now and then. Not really a pattern in it. Sometimes it can flicker black once every 5 min, sometimes once every 30 minutes. Monitors are ok, checked with other computers, cables are OK, tested on different monitors and HDMI on TV.

I am suspecting drivers, so did a complete uninstall with graphic removal tool, then installed latest WHQL and beta drivers, still the same. Seen several users with the same issue, but no solution.

Graphic card keeps 40-50 Celsius while gaming, so that's not the issue.

Just can't remember back when I did not have this issue, hasn't been there forever.

All monitors on 60Hz, and with the same resolution.

Tips/tricks whatever really, is greatly appreciated.

A:Asus GTX 670 DC - monitor goes black sometimes

I just did a test, reverted back to March 2013 drivers - 314.22 - and it's been stable and no black screens since the downgrade.
Found this post at if someone has the same issue.

Quote from the user:

I work for a game developer, so our company uses a lot of GPUs.
I encountered this issue yesterday when I installed my old BFG GeForce 275 GTX OC card in my new GigaByte GA-Z87N-WIFI motherboard, connected to a new Asus VS248H-P monitor, all on Windows 8.1 Pro, and updated the nVidia drivers.
Thankfully our IT guy has seen this issue on -multiple- nVidia cards in our studio, and so when I asked him about it, he immediately said to use the 314.22-desktop-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-english-whql.exe driver. He even had a copy ready to give me. He said that in his experience this has been the last good revision of the drivers since they made a change that has caused problems ever since.
For your convenience I have found a copy of the driver on nVidia's site you can download:
Note that, per the driver name, you will need to be installing on a 64-bit copy of either Windows 7 or Windows 8 or 8.1. I'm sure with more hunting you can find a copy of the driver at the same revision for a different operating system.
Full steps I took:
Started Windows, used F8 and rolled back to previous System Restore point to remove current drivers.
Went to About - Display Driver Uninstaller and downloaded DDU
Ran DDU. It asked me to reboot in safe mode bef... Read more

Just bought the asus vg248 144hz monitor. I was really happy about it for 2-3 days, until my monitor got a bit wierd. Its hard to explain, but my monitor make this black shadow looking "line" behind letters, tabs and pretty much everything i move on my monitor. So if i was to move this tab across my monitor, all the edges would get this black "blur" behind everything i was moving. This was not a problem in the beginning. This problem does not just appear on my deskop, but aslo while gaming. The corners i look at while playing csgo for example, gets this black line behind. This doesn't happen while standing still.

An important thing to notice is that this aslo happens if i play at 60hz or if i play on my PS4.
Switching to the HDMI cable didn't work.
I also didn't manage to download the ASUS vg248 software.

Probably not the best explanation, but a solution to this problem would be appreciated!

I'm looking to replace my ancient Dell E173FP monitor. After some research I've settled on these two choices due to my budget (~$170)

I'm having a hard time deciding between these two, from what I've gathered so far, these are the pros and cons of the two monitors, I'm not too tech-savvy so I could be wrong.

- slightly bigger (23.6 inch)
- has a lot more reviews and slightly higher rating on amazon and suggested by many on the internet as a good low-budget monitor

- has an overall better look than AOC
- 2 ms response time (not a big deal to me)
- I've heard of good and bad things about the costumer service
- mixed reviews about color quality

- many complaints about defective pixels and apparently Asus does not cover them
- many complaints about flimsy/wobbly stand
- some complaints about the monitor having various types of screen defects after some time
- not an IPS panel
- no integrated speakers

- IPS panel (better image)
- slightly cheaper at the moment

- 5 ms response time (not a big deal to me)
- I know it isn't bezel-less, I'm not looking for a dual monitor setup so it doesn't matter to me, however the black border does look a bit awkward

You outlined the pros and cons well . This is my opinion: go with the AOC since it has an IPS display (better colors), small bezels (allows for a better multi-monitor experience), is IPS + LED (the ASUS is only LED) and it has 2 HDMI inputs (vs 1 on the ASUS). The average reviews may be higher for the ASUS but the AOC seems like a more attractive option overall. This is just my opinion .

tnguyen9175 welcome to the Seven Forums.

Is this the monitor?

If so it doesn't have any speakers in it. What it has is a headphone jack on the back, which would require self powered speakers of headphones to get sound from it.

P.S. You also don't have the driver for the built in audio, as it is showing as "high definition audio device". It would show the proper name of whatever the built in audio is (Realtek, IDT, etc) with the proper driver installed.

I apologize if this is in the wrong forum ahead of time.

Basically, I want to buy a new monitor for around 200 bucks. Most of my daily activities on my computer consist of typing on Office (school work), watching youtube and/or divx movies (usually avi format), on occasion playing 2d yahoo chess or other simple games, chatting on trillian, browsing social networking sites, and listening to music. I almost never play games. I may play one every once and a while, but it is really, really rare.

So which of these is better suited for me:

Asus 24":

Samsung 23":

Some people tell me the Samsung is better, while others say the Asus is because of the response time. I don't mind the extra 20 bucks for the Asus, considering it seems to have some better specs, like response time, which allows me to see more detail.

What do you recommend?

A:Asus or Samsung monitor...(need a recommendation)

They both have good enough specs to do what you need.
So it's a matter of preference, which do you like better.

If you can handle one that is a little smaller, you can get
this for $99 with free shipping.
Unless you actually need the hdmi input.

I am at my wits end on this one. I need help before I go completely insane.

Working on building a nice little computer for my personal use, its a true Frankenstin Monster to begin with.

My mobo is an ASUS P4SGX-MX (socket 478)
The on-board grpahics card is the standard SiS
I installed a left over NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX/MX 400 (given to me by a friend for free)

I would like to have two monitors working at the same time on this PC. Here's what I've done so far. (please bear with me, its 3 hours pass my bedtime and I am delirious with fatigue)

In the bios, I set the onboard as the primary and the monitor on the right works, the display adapter in Windows XP Pro only shows the SiS adapter, and not the GeForce

In the bios, I set the primary to AGP and the monitor on the left works but the one on the right does not. Windows shows the GeForce adapter but not the SiS

In the bios I set the primary to PCI and get the same results as setting it to the AGP as above.

I know I have the monitor resolutions the same on both, but I also noticed that with which ever monitor working, the IRQ is automatically set to 16 (is this a problem?)

Has anyone been able to get dual monitors to work with this mobo?

I have installed the board with an Athlon xp 1700. all is well but at the post I get that the monitor has found an erro0r in the Power part of the bios setup menus. If I ignore it and go on all is ok but I checked everything and can't find an error.
I downloaded a new BIOS from ASUS but it would not install. Says "different model of bios" What gives? Can't get a rtesponse from ASUS Tech.

Probably the wrong model of system board, if a different model BIOS. Are you sure the one inside your machine is an A7V8X-X? Check your documentation.

Ive bought a new widescreen 22" Asus monitor and I have it plugged in to my m9750 alienware laptop. I have recently installed the newest drivers from alienware (card is Nvidia Go 7950 GTX ) .

Im running windows xp, 2gb ram, 200gb drive.

I have posted a youtube video showing my problem.

How can i solve this flickering? Im going to plug the monitor to my other PC when I get a chance and see if the problem presists so I can see if the problem is coming from the monitor or the actual configuration/grafics card of my laptop.

Thanks in advance.

I can not for the life of me figure this one out!

Asus a8v
amd 64bit 3200
ati radeon 9600xt
Windows XP Home SP2

I should start by saying that I downloaded the catalyst control center from and loaded the latest drivers from there. However, after, thats when the problem started. Whenever I try to open anything my monitor magically shuts itself off but my computer stays on. When I turn my moniter back on it shows that I dont have a signal for like 3 seconds and then BOOM, my computer restarts itself.

I found a slight fix to the problem...I removed the catalyst contol center from my computer and removed the video card drivers. I then grabbed the CD that came with my 9600xt to load the drivers off of it (they are very old drivers). As old as the drivers are, they fixed the monitor shutdown problems. However I recently bought Battlefield 2 (direct X 9.0c) and I just knew it was going to be "buggy" due to the fact that my drivers are so old.

I want to play this game but Im kind of in a pickle here. I need to update the drivers but I know what problems this causes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've enjoyed a lot of the useful information from you all on this forum. My problem is that when I connect my Acer Aspire 5810T Laptop to my Asus Monitor MT276 via HDMI, I get video on my Asus but no sound through its speakers. I'm getting sound through my laptop though.

I'm unable to see the HDMI sound icon when I use "Manage Audio Devices" even though I checked to show disabled and disconnected devices. I think it may be because of my graphics or sound card (which I've tried updating via device manager but still no luck).

My system specs are to the right and if you require any other information let me know. Any suggestions on how I can get sound through the monitor's speakers?

I now get sound and video via HDMI through my Asus monitor. The way I got it to work was by updated my chipset driver to an older version.

Steps I took:
1) Go to Device Manager
2) Open Display Adapters and right click and select Update Driver Software
3) Select Browse my computer for driver software
4) Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
5) I then was given a list of drivers and selected the oldest version (2/26/09)

I restarted my computer and plugged in the HDMI and the HDMI icon magically showed up when I went into Playback Devices.

I have updated the OP to show my solution. Thank you all for your help. You guys have a very good community here.

A:No sound via HDMI to ASUS Monitor

Go to the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound panel. If you have HDMI Audio, there will be an icon for this. Set this as the default playback device and that should get you HDMI Audio.

I am considering getting an Asus VN279QL monitor 27". It is slightly used.
At the moment I have an Acer X243w 24"
The Asus monitor says its native resolution is 1920 by 1080. While that of the Acer is 1920 by 1200. But the Asus says it's Full HD. Would that make the Asus monitor better even though its resolution is lesser?
The Contrast ratio on the Asus is considerably higher.
And the Asus monitor is much more recent than my Acer.
Is it worth getting this monitor now? Or should I still hang in there for a year or so before it's worth getting a better monitor?
I am using a Geforce GTX 950.
I use both Windows 10, and Ubuntu.

I been using this monitor for many months connecting it to my laptop without any issue. However there has been times when i would see No signal on my monitor but screen would then work as usually. Recently when i started my computer, i got this message and monitor doesn't work at all. I use HDMI to HDMI as my laptop has hdmi port. Monitor doesn't work at all. I made sure i am in hdmi mode in monitor and still nothing works.

Does anyone know whats the issue here? It just stopped working.

A:Asus Monitor HDMI No Signal?

Sometimes this can be a "Handshaking" Issue. Try powering down the laptop and unplug the monitor. (never plug or un plug HDMI while hot) when you have the hdmi cable plugged in, plug power to monitor and restart, that may help.

I recently purchased an ASUS 6950 2GB DirectCUII Graphics card with the crazy idea of hooking up more than 2 monitors. The card looked decent, claimed to be able to run 6 independent monitors concurrently. I currently have 2x24" monitors and a 37" 1080p TV that i'm trying to hook up. The setup is:

DP = Standard DisplayPort

DP1 - none
DP2 - DP to HDMI cable to monitor 1
DP3 - DP to DVI adapter to monitor 2
DP4 - DP to HDMI to TV
DVI1 - none
DVI2 - none

I've tried all different set-ups, bit this is what I am trying at this moment. The problem is this: I can only run 2 screens concurrently. Every time I try to enable the third output, Windows pops up an error message saying "Unable to save settings" and CCC Isn't much help to anyone (It pops up a similar message).

So, how can I get my 3 screens all running together?

My current setup involves a single monitor, DisplayPort connection, and 1920 x 1080 desktop resolution. No matter what settings I try my games and videos are blurry and appear to render at a much lower refresh rate than they should.

I've fiddled with the monitor, and found that setting trace free at 100 enables a weird ghosting effect, which is not so bad at 80. I've switched between DisplayPort and DVI-D Dual Link, going so far as to switch the DVI between the Analog and Digital outputs of my Graphics Card with little-to-no difference.

I have played several games with the Fraps framerate display enabled: Dragon Age: Origins, Deus Ex (the old one), Descent: Freespace, and Skyrim. The framerate remained above 120 fps in DAO, a constant 144 in Deus Ex (with the special launcher), 120 in Freespace, and 144 in Skyrim (though 144fps Skyrim is too buggy to play). I have also tried various Vsync settings to no avail.

They all appear blurry when they should be sharp, and I get screen tearing on some games. My mouse has a relatively low dpi, so I only test the visual quality using keyboard commands. Using the UFO Frame Test, the image is blurred in four possible refresh rates: 144, 120, 100, and 85. I have also installed the Toasty X Strobelight tool; whether Lightboost is on or off, the only difference is in monitor brightness.

I upgraded to a proper gaming computer several months ago, because I have heard that the jump from 60 to 120+ is at least noticeable (if not bea... Read more

You need to check and see what the highest NON-INTERLACED refresh rate your monitor can support and use that or lower.

HI All,

its been 24 hours since my Win 7 ultimate edition installation, and still i have not managed to get my dual monitor working.

I was running Vista OS for 2 years and was working everything fine. But now with Win 7 my second monitor (Samsung Syncmaster 2333) is not being detected.

I went in the Asus driver page and it seems that for the Standard Vga grafic card there is still no driver for Win 7, is this possible?

If it is really like that, how can I get my dual monitor working? I thought about buying an external graphic this the only solution or am i missing something?

Any help is appreciated!

A:Standard VGA (Asus) does not detect dual monitor with Win 7

To tell you the truth i heard ways of doing this but your onboard vga adapt might not be strong enough for dual screen support

I can tell you i run dual monitors off the same vidcard im sure i can throw a third one in the mix off my vga but your mobo should give you the specs on the onboard adapter where it should give you in full detail the capabilities

If not i suggest getting a video card that fits the bill also make sure you have adaquete power to supply the card or the upgrade will be meaningless

You may want to do the cardboard test...Take out all the internal parts, assemble them on a piece of card board and power up with monitor of course...What happens? If the parts work as expected then you may have a grounding issue ,1st thing check your stand offs and rubber/plastic, or the insulated grommets to make sure they were in the correct place. Prior to taken the parts out make sure the MOBO isn't touching the case.. If the issue still exist check your ram one per slot to see if it is a faulty ram stick..

My son threw a toy into it and now the screen is shattered as you can see. I wonder if anyone could give a a repair estimate or suggest where to get one.
There are no electronics repairs shops close to where I live and I don't want to pay for shipping sending it to ASUS. I need estimate for my insurance.

A:Repair estimate for ASUS PG278q monitor

In most cases the repair would be more than replacement and the vale for ins. would be the replacement price being that screen is most of the cost of it. Other than that Asus would be the only real option.

I recently got this amazing 1080p monitor for my custom rig and I love it! Well... most of it.
There is this problem with the backlight, where when the monitor turns on after a while of inactivity, the backlight turns on for a split second, then suddenly goes very dim. The brightness setting is unchanged; kept at a solid 70, yet it's a quarter as bright as it should be. I can go into the menu and change the brightness, and I can tell, faintly, that it does adjust, but never up to the proper level.

To remedy the issue, I repeatedly turn the monitor off and on until the display finally lights up properly, and it stays that way for the entire time I am using it. At the start of the session in which I write this post, I had to do this at least 20 times before it worked, so I finally decided to really look into this problem.

It seems this is a unique issue, as I found absolutely no matching posts on the interwebs by searching with the all-mighty Google Search. Is there anyone that can provide some insight as to why this occurs, and/or how to fix it?

Thanks for your time.

A:Issue with an ASUS VK-248h Monitor Backlight

New theory: Bad capacitors... somewhere. Possibly power supply

After a day at work, observing some coworkers working on used LCD TVs (and working on one myself), I now understand quite a bit more about such things.

I had removed the display from my setup and left it on the floor for a few days. Today, I decided to try it again. The backlight started up perfectly fine, surprisingly. The ASUS screen showed for a couple seconds, then went off, as normal. Then, when it's supposed to activate the selected display input, it shows the screen for just long enough to get half a frame drawn, then goes completely black. Turning monitor off and on repeatedly, and trying different input methods, gave same result. I got it to work once, but at that time the backlight had gone too dim again.

I think now I might know how to fix it, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to take the dang thing apart! Lol.

I have an ASUS VS247HR monitor plugged into my pc with a hdmi cable which worked fine, until suddenly my screen went black and it didnt work anymore. I wasnt doing anything with it when it happened. Eventually I got it working with a VGA cable but it doesnt recognize my monitor any longer as an ASUS monitor, it just says "Generic PnP Monitor". I checked for driver updates if that had screwed things up and it did, so I rolled it back but I still have the problemI would really like to be able to use my HDMI cable because VGA lowers my resolution to 1024x768

Hi all. I just picked up an ASUS VH242H 1080p HD monitor. 23.5 or 24" newegg said 23.5 but not too sure. Seriously is awesome when playing games or watching video, but when I'm just sitting on the desktop there seems to be something wrong. The lines along the task bar seem to be blurry or flickering. Also when running an application like this website for instance, the text and links and lines all are blurry or flickering as well. Its actually really bad on this forum lol.

I currently have the resolution set to 1920x1080 and this seems to be the only resolution that this occurs on. All else its perfectly fine but just not the standard setting for this large monitor. I have not installed any drivers because I can't find any. I have an NVIDIA GeForce 7900 G/GTO.

I just bought a "22 ASUS mx279h monitor For my ps4. Strictly for my ps4 and it was working for the first couple days, then it went to a grey screen. I hear my ps4 when I move the joystick through my headphones. When I click to a different HDMI it shows the screen changing to it, but when I go to the one with my ps4 on it it says no signal or have a pitch grey screen no responding. when it was working the previous night. Can some one reply to me!

A:Grey screen for my ASUS mx279h monitor

Three possibilities :-
First and simplest, the cable could be faulty. Try a different cable, borrow one if necessary.
Second, the output from your PS4 could be faulty. Try it on a different monitor, perhaps a friend's.
Third, there could be a fault on the monitor. Try a different signal source on the socket you are using for the PS4 and try the PS4 in a different socket.
If the cable and the PS4 test OK then the fault lies in the monitor. You say you have just bought it. Have a word with your supplier about replacement.

I'm trying to use an external Samsung TV/monitor (model LN-T2642H) through HDMI. The native resolution of the monitor/TV is 1360X768, which is also the native resolution of ASUS T100.
If I try to use the monitor/TV as the only display, the device selected is Generic PnP Monitor and the native resolution of 1360X768 is not available for selection. Intel HD Graphics Control Panel only shows 1280X720 (selected) and 1920X1080 (too high for my monitor).

Is there a way to set up the 1360X768 resolution with the existing driver (up to date)? Is there another driver that I can download and that will allow this resolution? Can I use a different version of the Generic PnP Monitor that allows 1360X768 resolution?
With the only resolution available i.e., 1280X720 the quality is bad.

Many thanks,

Hi all,

My soundcard is an ASUS D2X
My Monitor is an Asus MX279H

My problem is I can't get the monitor to route the sound to just my soundcard and take advantage of using 4 speakers. I've tried using a 3.5 plug from monitor to soundcard with no joy.

The only way I can use the monitor speakers is if I select MX279-C as default but then obviously I can't use my soundcard or creative speakers.

I've attached a screenshot of my sound options.

Many Thanks
