Nvidia Geforce drivers do not allow monitor to turn off after shutdown

Q: Nvidia Geforce drivers do not allow monitor to turn off after shutdown

I am not sure if anyone has ever experienced this phenomenon, but after I install the Nvidia Geforce video drivers for my Windows Vista x64 system, my monitor will not go into sleep mode after a proper Windows shutdown. I know this happens for sure due to the video drivers because when I use the default/standard VGA drivers provided by Vista, the monitor works as usual. I am running a tri-sli setup consisting of three 9800 gtx's and my monitor is a 28" Hanns-g HG281D. I've contacted Hanns-g/Hannspree for an answer but they could only tell me to switch my monitor's input settings to "pc." However, this particular model does not include any such setting and they finally agreed to that after I insisisted forever. Any ideas? Thanks for your input.

Always get video drivers from the manufacturers website, in your case nvidia.com

Just try this one.

If that doesn`t work, get a newer card.

Why are you running Enterprise ?

Will drivers for Nvidia GeForce GT 7300 work with Nvidia GeForce Go 7300? I can't find the newest drivers on Nvidias web page. I tried to update it over WU but I get an error (80070006).

A:Nvidia GeForce Go 7300 drivers

Geforce 7300 Go is just a derivative of the 7300 card, I'm assuming that it is a mobile card (laptop), you should only get drivers for laptops from the manufacturers website, you can try the nvidia drivers if you want but i would look for the laptop makers drivers as a point of reference.

Hi guys,

I have a problem with my nVidia drivers. When I first installed W7, I installed the GeForce drivers (big mistake). Then I installed the automatic update of nvidia drivers that W7 downloaded. This lead to problems. I have now unistalled all drivers. Windows then looked for it's own drivers, and said they were installed. However, Aero doesn't seem to be working (all taskbars are gray).
I can't download the drivers from the nVidia site, because for some reason they haven't put the W7 drivers for mobile gfx cards online. I can't download the driver via Automatic Update because Windows seems to think I already installed it. Does anybody know how I can find these drivers?

Cheers!
Anarch

PS- I tried via the acer.com site, but they only have Vista/XP drivers.
PPS- I run an Acer Aspire 5520.

Long story short my computer does not recognize its graphics card as what it is drivers are installed and everything(77.72's with direct x 9.0c) but when i try to run counterstrike source it says that I need a direct x 7.0 compatible graphics card or something of that sort, I have done all that needs to be done(uninstalling previous drivers, then rebooting in safe mode/regular mode and installing the new drivers with no anti virus type programs running)

When watching videos everything appears to be at double brightness(eg gammas way to high) but I can play plenty of games just fine without the gamma being affected(just not ones past direct x 7)

Any hints/tips would be appreciated

hello,

I installed Win 7 on my tablet HP TC1100.

Win7 doesn't recognize the graphic card nvidia GeForce 4 Go 420 (32 MB, 4x AGP).

The display of the tablet ist running correctly (1024x768),
the second monitor (1280x1024) shows the same screen in the simple resolution.

There's no second monitor in the system settings, only the standard vga-graphiccard and a pnp-monitor.

I tested some nvidia-driver (185.20vista32 Guru3D.com), but its not possible to install (there a incompability error).

Someone can help me?

Hello guys.
I've been using Windows 8 (x64) since the beta releases and my dual monitor configuration has been working great until yesterday. However, I'm now unable to use any monitor while using the MS nvidia geforce 7600 gt driver. It's as if it's always recognizing the driver and it ends up blinking both screens (turning on/off) and that means I can't use the PC.

Looking at the even viewer, I see several messages that say something like this:

Driver Management concluded the process to install driver monitor.inf_amd64_4ff27d8fea37720b\monitor.inf for Device Instance ID DISPLAY\ACR06B0\5&17248FF0&3&UID1048833 with the following status: 0x0.

I've ended up removing the nvidia driver and I'm now using the default one which comes with windows (in practice, this will let me work with only one monitor).

Has anyone faced this problem? Any tips on how to solve it? It seems to be related with the driver, but I don't know how to fix it.

thanks and regards,
luis

First, I apologize for the double-post. There is a duplicate thread in the "Graphics Cards" forum..

I have Windows 7 32bit installed on an ASUS P5RD1-VM mobo with an nVidia Geforce 8500 GT graphics card.

I have tried numerous times to install the Windows 7 (32bit) Driver from manufacture site, but when it tries to install the drivers, I get an error message saying "No drivers were found that work with your device. Setup will now close."

I don't get this! I'm on that graphics card right now, in Windows 7, and typing this thread...

Also, in Device Manager, there is no "Display Adapter" listed.... I can't seem to find any evidence of a generic display driver either....

I've already solved the problem of my sound not working (SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio) and this is the last thing I need to get Windows 7 working for a REAL test run!

How can I get these drivers installed?!

Any help is appreciated

A:nVidia GeForce 8500 GT, drivers won't install

Download the driver from NVIDIA's site.

You might need a bios update for the motherboard if there is no standard vga in the display adapter section of the device manager. Install the latest one.

Also in the bios, disable all unused ports like floppy, serial, parallel, com.... etc..

These drivers are VERY BETA, use at your own risk!

However, I have noticed a slight increase in performance (Versus the 186.18 Drivers) in the Crysis Benchmark as well as the Counter-Strike: Source stress test.

I haven't tried 3DMark or any of that jazz yet.

DOCUMENTATION FROM THE GURU3D SITE:

There's a new NVIDIA GeForce driver out on the loose and it's in fact the first series 190 driver ever. This is Forceware 190.15 The driver is available for Windows Vista 32- and 64-bit and for Windows XP 32-bit flavor is available.

Very little is known about this driver but we need to that the original .inf file shows it was targeted at Quadro cards. We replaced the index with a modified .inf files (courtesy of laptopvideo2go) making the driver compatible with all current GeForce cards.

Interesting is that the Vista / Win 7 drivers also contact 3D Stereo drivers revision 190.15, look inside the archive to spot that yourself.
These drivers are to be considered very beta and thus treated as such. You install them at your own risk, don't complain to us or NVIDIA if they do not work out for you.

Hello,

I like Windows 8, and my experience has been good so far. Yesterday I've installed Windows 8 and it had been hanging at 'Installing Drivers... 10%'. So I slammed my GeForce 8600 in my PC, and surprisingly it worked.
However, I need my GeForce 6600 because another OS needs it *cough*Hackintosh*cough*, and so I put this card back into my PC. Now it boots up into Windows 8, but it's not exactly as you call it 'fast'. I downloaded the 296.17 drivers, and my attempts to install it were unsuccessful. The installer stops with a BSOD while attempting to flash the screen, and the computer restarts.
I have already attempted to install the drivers with Device Manager, automatic as well as manual, but the same BSOD happens.

Is there anyone who can help? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Edit: I have Windows 8 32 bits.

New here. I have a Toshiba Satellite P25-S526 which has an NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200. My screen goes blank right after Windows logs on (Windows XP Home SP2). I go into safe mode and remove the drivers, and can then log into Windows normally. I have tried the newest drivers available from both Nvidia and Toshiba's website, but both end with the same result. Another thing I should mention is that right after the BIOS load up and before the Windows loading up screen the screen shows in DOS looking format completely filled with 0's (zero's). Is there anything I can do? Thanks a lot.

So, I installed Windows 7 64 bit yesterday. It worked seemingly well after install until I rebooted today and all I could see was the background image on my desktop when it loads. So, if I go in under safe move and disable the Nvidia 9100 driver it lets me in, but of course my screen doesn't look right. Everything is huge and looks bad. I have tried to download every driver imaginable from nvidia. I cannot figure out how to resolve this issue. I thought I did well as I ran the Windows 7 program prior to installing and it didn't tell me there were any conflicts and it said Windows 7 would install just fine. Well, now my computer is all messed up and I don't know what to do. Can I add a different video card to get around this? I spoke with HP and they said I should have gotten the upgrade disc from them.... all fine and dandy if I had known that before shelling out $110 to Amazon for the discs from Windows. If anyone can help me, I would really appreciate it. I'm at a total loss right now. My virtually new computer is all messed up.

Thanks in advance,
Nichole

Hi all

Purchased a new CyberPower Gaming Elite II PC 2 days ago and have since been unable to get a signal going from the NVIDIA GeForce GTX970 to my monitor. Granted it is an old monitor with a VGA connection and so have used the adapter that came with the computer to convert it to DVI but still, there's no signal going to the monitor. Do I need to upgrade my monitor? I have tested a HDMI cable going from the PC to my TV but that doesn't seem to provide a signal either! I'm out of options that I can think of!

Any help greatly appreciated,

Kind Regards,

Sam.

OS: windows 7 ultimate 64 bit

when i boot, I can see display on both monitors, only till after that small 'window' icon, then the monitor on DVI shows no input siganl. The monitor on VGA connection always work. I can see both monitors on NVIDIA control panel, I tried a lot on the control panel, but the 2nd monitor just won't work. The latest driver has been installed for NVIDIA graphic card.

So let me recap, both monitors work fine, and they both can display the booting info, but after entering Windows, the one on DVI lost input signal.

One interesting thing is, the monitor that works is identified as #2 monitor on Nvidia control panel.

Have you tried rightclick desktop -> screen res -> detect. If it doesnt see the screen, are you sure your graphics card has it's AGP/PCI power connector connected (if you built it, or if it has one, in the right up corner of the card, a six or eight pin connector). If still no picture, try to press detect, take out one monitor, press detect, and put the monitor back, and press detect.

I'm almost at my wits end with this issue, and hoping someone can help me and I can keep this video card.

A few weeks ago while mid-game, I got a BSOD with a nvlddmkm.sys error. The computer would not reboot in normal mode, but would work in safe mode. Using safe mode, I managed to uninstall the drivers. Once they were uninstalled, I could operate in normal mode to reinstall more recent NVIDIA drivers, but once I got them, I would get the BSOD again upon restarting and again the cycle of going into safe mode would begin again.

I've tried everything from pretty much disassembling the computer, downloading all the NVIDIA drivers compatible with the GTX 580, but nothing works. But this BSOD is making me want to toss the damn thing at sea. I'm really trying to avoid buying a new card if I don't have to, but at this point its looking like I might...

Any advice would be appreciated. Will update with the system specs once I get the desktop running again.

(I just realised I probably should have posted this in the Drivers section - please move the thread if necessary!)

Installed Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2
Installed Service Pack 3
Installed DirectX

Then I came along where the user was complaining about everything redraws slow. When a window is moved the video is very sluggish, same with scrolling in IE. I looked in the Device Manager and there are no Display adapters or Monitors listed. I then looked at "Other" where there is a question mark with the following:
Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

I tried upgrading the video drivers with the drivers cd that came with the system.
I downloaded the latest drivers off nvidia's web site. Rev 178.13
I have tried 5 different drivers I have found on the net.
I tried letting the wizard find the driver, I directed the wizard and I choose the driver myself and all came up with the same error message... "The specified loaction does not contain information about your hardware" or "The wizard could not find the software on your computer for Video Controller (VGA Compatible)".

I tried searching the net and can't find any previous issues that can help me.
I looked in the inf file and the 6100 is listed in there for the installer.

I've been trying for a few days to update the video drivers on my new Sony Vaio to the Nvidia Drivers but I can't get it to work.

I have a Sony all in one, VPCJ118FX/W computer but in order to get rid of all the preloaded Sony software that the computer came with, I installed a Clean Version of Windows 7 Professional 64bits. Since then Windows installed a Standard VGA Graphic Adapter and a Generic non-PnP Monitor.

I know that this computer comes with an NVIDIA GeForce 310M Video Card

I tried several times to install the latest driver from Nvidia site, but as soon as it starts it says that it couldn't find any compatible hardware. They told me that this is because I should not be downloading it from Nvidia site, but that I should download from the Sony site, the drivers that they have put together for this computer and the Nvidia Card.

I also tried doing that, downloading the drivers from the sony support site, but it doesn't install either it just get frozen (non-responding). Talked to sony and they mentioned that it might be because the files that they have were put together for Windows 7 Home Premium, and I installed Windows 7 Professional and that might be the reason why they do not install.

Talked to Microsoft technical support for hours but they were not able to figure out a way to get this resolved. The problem is that the Standard VGA Graphic adapter is very limited in its functionality. Lots of video applications don't run (Movie Maker) or run limitted (Premier)... Read more

NVIDIA has rolled out a new WHQL driver update specifically targeted at Windows 10 systems.

This particular update focuses on GameWorks VR headset, adding tweaks and bug fixes with the driver description stating:

?NVIDIA continues to work closely with VR headset and game developers to deliver amazing VR games and applications. This Game Ready driver includes the latest GameWorks VR tweaks, bug fixes, and optimizations to ensure you have the ultimate VR gaming experience.

In addition, support has been added for "GameWorks VR 1.1 including VR SLI support for OpenGL applications and support for the latest Oculus SDK."

Some Windows 10 users have not had the best experience relating to the display driver while upgrading to the new OS; however, many of these issues have now been addressed, so it's worth grabbing the update for your system.

You can grab either the 32- or 64-bit drivers at the links below.

Sorry if this is off-topic, but I have been using Wagnard's DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) for years now to do actual 'clean' installs of the Nvidia drivers each and every update and life has been much happier. Great especially if a new release screws up and you want to cleanly go back to the previous driver. Much more thorough than picking 'clean' install from the nvidia installer tool, and safer than letting than letting some generalized registry cleaner at your registry.

It was the goto solution for the many people who could not get Fallout 4 running on release day. It won't work in every single case, of course, but nothing is guaranteed.

If you want to check it out (it's free and highly regarded by gamers) he posts new builds in his forum at: Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) Download & Support - Wagnardmobile Forum

You'll also find it on various download sites but I get mine direct from his forum for safety.

Here's his description of what DDU is and does:

"What is Display Driver Uninstaller?
Display Driver Uninstaller is a driver removal utility that can help you completely remove AMD/NVIDIA/Intel graphics card drivers and packages from your system, without leaving leftovers behind (including registry keys, folders and files, and the driver store).

The AMD/NVIDIA/Intel video drivers can normally be uninstalled from the Windows Control panel, this driver uninstaller program was designed to be used in cases w... Read more

While people may not have had the best experience upgrading from Windows 7 or 8.1 where there is a Nvidia card involved, the company has now rolled out a new set of WHQL drivers for Windows 10. The new drivers, which are now at version 355.60, have been released in both 32 and 64-bit flavors and clock in at 217 and 279mb respectively.

There are no major changes to be found in the release notes, which you can see below;

Just in time for the preview of Ashes of the Singularity, this new GeForce Game Ready driver ensures you'll have the best possible gaming experience. This driver also supports the Beta version of the GameWorks VR software development kit (SDK). As a result, users will be able to enjoy the benefits of GameWorks VR with supporting applications and headsets for the first time.

If you have yet to upgrade to Windows 10, it's worth pointing out that Microsoft does support most of the recent Nvidia cards, although many people have had trouble getting the driver to install after the upgrade. A series of reboots will eventually automatically detect the card and install the correct driver, or you can grab them below and do it manually.

Quote:
The good news - if you grab the latest drivers then you will have noticed that GeForce Experience has received updates. If you are up-to date just hit check for updates in GeForce Experience. The bad news, Nvidia is forcing (in the near future) its Game Ready drivers to be downloaded through GeForce Experience. That means the software (which the majority of people feels is bloatware) will become mandatory to be able to download first wave drivers.

A:Latest NVIDIA GeForce Graphics Drivers for Windows 8

Currently experiencing some sporadic problems with this driver. Basically, I get pink/purple artifacts across the screen and then the system locks up. Sometimes it is able to recover, but sometimes it automatically reboots. It's not the card, as it is working perfectly in the other OSes with the latest appropriate drivers.

Been checking the NVidia forums about this, and I'm not the only one with this problem: Windows 8 Graphic Glitch - NVIDIA Forums and Windows 8 Consumer Preview Geforce Desktop/Notebook Driver Information - NVIDIA Forums - Page 6 describes the symptoms I'm getting perfectly.

It should be pointed out though that issues were present with the graphics drivers with the Beta versions of Windows 7 as well (not necessarily the same issues, but issues nonetheless). Hopefully, these will be ironed out over time.

hopping over the every forum i spent lot of time..but finally found relief when i took desicion to deal with this on my own..

I have Hp Tx 2009Au tablet pc.with nvidia geforce go 6150 onboard..yes..you are right..it sucks..but bought in 2009 for different reason..i am designer ..well..thats offtrack..
i have not tested this on other laptops with same graphics card.but most probably this will work.

I have managed to alter *.inf for the latest V 306.97 nvidia graphivs drivers..which you can get here.86x and 64x..

follow the process

if you have windows defalut drivers installed and not working as it should..and if device manager does not recognise graphics card model..then
1.install vista drvers you have already.install nvidia n force drivers if required.
why--it will detect the card as nvidia..simple.

1) Download extract the drivers to C:\nvidia
2) Find and replace the disp.inf file the display drivers folder
3) Go to device manager and update the driver using "have disk method"
4) It may show warning that it not digitally signed, ignor and move.
5)you may have to restart if drivers not applied.

you will be able to run windows 8 smoothely.

I was told by dell that I only need a splitter to set up dual monitor, and I am not sure if they only intended to use cloning, and not acess to both monitors. Under-Display Properties--Settings--only the default monitor is shown. It does not reister a second moitor? Can anyone help please?

A:Dual Monitor with a VGA splitter using NVIDIA GeForce 6800

A splitter will only clone the monitors and will probably only register the first.
Your 6800 should have dual outputs.
Depending on the connectors and the monitor, you may need a DVI to VGA
adapter to connect to the second output.

Hello
I have recently bought an Optiplex 760 and I am trying to set dual screens up on the graphics card. Using the VGA and DVI ports on the card, both screens will work separately on the VGA port but not on the DVI port. It seems not to recognize the monitor when plugged in to this port.
the card is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 610 with 2GB it has the port I mentioned and a HDMI
any advise on how to remedy this would be grateful as I can not seem to find a solution
I have tried all the suggestions I have found up to now
I have not tried the HDMI as my screens don not have the port on them to use this connection

Thanks

A:Optiplex 760, Nvidia GeForce GT 610, VGA/DVI, dual monitor setup?

I am having the same problem with my monitors. I have 1 with vga, and 1 with DVI. The VGA works on both monitors, but the dvi does not on either. Windows recognizes the monitor attached to dvi, and allows me to extend the display, but the monitor with DVI connection says no signal, and remains black. I can even drag windows from one monitor to the next and back, but nothing appears on the monitor. The problem is not the monitor as both work just fine with the vga connection. Unfortunatly there is only 1 vga on the video card.

I have a Sony Vaio laptop and I recently upgraded from Vista Ultimate x86 to W7 Ultimate x86, and my Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT GPU is acting up. So I dug around for drivers, and I came up with this link: NVIDIA DRIVERS 197.16 WHQL

I am posting this here for anyone else who might be facing this problem, my model is the VGN-AR61ZU but this covers all models, and it basically says there are *no* W7 nvidia drivers for sony vaio yet. Go to supported models and scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll see the following note:

->"The following notebooks are not supported in this release:
Notebooks supporting Hybrid Power with Intel chipsets.
Fujitsu notebooks ? support will be added in a later release. Fujitsu Siemens (FSC) notebooks are supported in this release.
Sony VAIO notebooks ? support will be added in a later release. Sony VAIO Windows 7 users can click here for driver update support.
Any notebook that is launched after the release date of this driver."
Clicking the here link directs you to the japanese sony vaio and that in turn directs you to the european (for me) club vaio page (the most useless in this case). None of those link to any actual W7 driver support.

Given that models are region based, I don't suppose there are drivers for european models from any other region, so unfortunately we must wait. I hope it's not very long.

I hope this helps, just wanted to inform people. Have fun all.

I use Toshiba M645 Laptop that has two graphic cards

Now I have some vga problems and driver questions below:

1. Intel HD Graphics <-Why can't install driver from Intel official website?, driver not supports!
, but the driver in Toshiba website can be installed fine as well.
What's wrong with that? Was it mean "Intel HD Graphics" has more than one type, several of model classes?
or it must related to the chipset of Toshiba laptop's mainboard?

2. NVIDIA Geforce GT330M <-How to use only this vga stand alone?, I tried to disable Intel HD Graphics from device manager
and then the monitor was not in use, black screen was displayed.
So, I tried to disable Intel HD Graphics in safe mode, no black screen
, but the next normal boot it was displayed like GT330M was not in use
(can't config NVIDIA tools, it was disappeared from control panel), but it was still enabled in device manager.

Now, I just updated Intel HD Graphics driver, a mouse lag in Aero themes taskbar effect was fixed,
also the video framerate fault was fixed too.

Hope someone can give the solutions, how to fix these problems.
Thanks in advance.

A:Intel HD Graphics + NVIDIA Geforce [Drivers & Usage problems]

1. Main reason the Intel reference driver won't work is it hasn't been modified to work with the second card (applies to laptops with either Nvidia or AMD for the second card). Same applies to the Nvidia driver, it requires the Intel driver to be installed before it can be installed.

2. From what I have seen the Nvidia card (or AMD if so equipped) can be made to run all the time only when the laptop is plugged in and you change the power settings to high performance. If that doesn't get it working all the time here may be another setting that needs to be changed. If that is the case going to have to wait on someone with a similar setup for more info.

Nvidia Corp.?s latest beta drivers include support of what can possibly the company?s next-generation graphics processing units (GPUs) made using 28nm process technology. The actual chips are projected to officially emerge next year, but Nvidia may easily be tailoring its software for the new hardware.

The latest unreleased Nvidia ForceWare 285-series drivers contain mentioning of GeForce 610M and GeForce GT 630M graphics adapters for notebooks, according to a news-story by VR-Zone web-site. It is believed that the new GPUs belong to GK100-series chips that are based on the code-named Kepler micro-architecture.

Nvidia said earlier this year that it plans to test-drive its next-generation Kepler graphics processing unit (GPU) this year and introduce the new chips commercially in 2012.

HP Pavillion 9000 series ( specificially the dv9260nr ) Laptop with NVIDIA GeForce 7600 Go driver problem Bought this back in 2006 or 2007 from Best Buy. I had to re-install Windows after a bad hard drive crash. Couldn't find the disks that came with the machine. It originally came with VISTA Ultimate 64 installed, so I did a complete install with a brand new VISTA Ultimate 64 DVD. At first it seemed to be fine after initial installation. Then, the final part of the Windows VISTA 64 intallation brought me to WINDOWS UPDATE and showed about 100 necessary updates - most were security updates - but also included was an NVIDIA driver. As soon as this new NVIDIA driver was updated, the system blue-screened during the restart. This PC has the most current BIOS and drivers loaded (except for the NVIDIA  driver) - which I downloaded from HP. In  fact, I have tried EVERY version of the driver for this device that is availabe for download at the HP site. I also tried a newer beta driver that is available at the NVIDIA website. None of them work. Since I apparently have the latest BIOS from HP (F .2D), this shouldn't be an issue. However, I would note that HP has a post on its website that says it now has a F .3D BIOS for the dv9000 series. However, this BIOS is NOT listed on the HP Drivers & Downloads website as an available update for THIS  dv9260nr machine (with VISTA Ultimate 64). So, I ass... Read more

Hello Everyone

I'm getting a weird response when I try to install the latest drivers for my 8500GT.

The installer will seem to progress just fine, until about halfway on the progress meter...then the computer shut's down and restarts! Here's the weird part: it continues this cycle of shutting down/restarting until I hit F8 to get it into safe mode!

I had just reformatted my harddrive and was in the process of installing everything. I read in another thread that it was suggested to put the earlier video card in(ati) before installing the new drivers (nvidia), but I figured that since I had reformatted the drive, that wouldn't be nessecary.

If only I had not misplaced the original driver cd for the nvidia card! (aarrrgh!)

Nvidia Releases Updated Linux Drivers for the Old GeForce 8 and 9 Series

Lots of fixes have been implemented in this release
Nvidia has updated the Legacy branch of the Linux drivers and developers have fixed quite a few issues. This is a driver aimed at older hardware, so if you just got your shiny and new Titan video card, this driver will be of no use to you.

Spoiler: Nvidia 340.93 Changelog
- Fixed a bug that caused the X server to crash if an OpenGL application tried to allocate a drawable when GPU-accessible memory is exhausted.
- Fixed a bug that could cause an Xid error when terminating a video playback application using the overlay presentation queue in VDPAU.
- Updated nvidia-installer to avoid recursing too deeply into kernel source trees under /usr/lib/modules, mirroring an existing restriction on recursion under /lib/modules.
- Fixed a rare deadlock condition when running applications that use OpenGL in multiple threads on a Quadro GPU.
- Fixed a kernel memory leak that occurred when looping hardware- accelerated video decoding with VDPAU on Maxwell-based GPUs.
- Fixed a bug that caused the X server to crash if a RandR 1.4 output provided by a Sink Output provider was selected as the primary output on X.Org xserver 1.17 and higher.
- Fixed a bug that caused waiting on X Sync Fence objects in OpenGL to hang indefinitely in some cases.
- Fixed a bug that prevented OpenGL from properly recovering from hardware errors or sync object waits that had timed out.

When my system is booting everything is fine, i see all the pics and sound and etc. if i try to do a restart my monitor goes into power saving mode and then does not awake from it.

i have connected a dell net book and confirmed that the on the restart that the monitor comes out of the power saving mode.

1.I have run the OS in diagnostic start up to find out if any software might actually do something
2. I have removed every usb item except the mouse and the keyboard
3. I have taken out the VGA card for one boot and then put it in back again.
4. I have connected the DVI cable to a different ports ( first and second)
5. I have started the system with win 7 drivers but still the same problem.
6. I have installed latest nvidia drivers 258.96

nothing is working

honestly.... What am i doing wrong here ?

ps. Monitor model is LG M2394 D

1-check the driver for both in device manager

2-check the power mode settings for turning off monitor etc

3-try booting into safe mode (F8) does it still happen??

My computer has been acting up lately but tonight has topped it. I was changing wallpapers on my desktop tonight and my desktop was locking up (not the first time it has done random lock ups but was fed up with it by now) so I though maybe its the graphics cards and went ahead and installed the newest drivers it was going smoothly until it started installing the new drivers both of my monitors went black (which always happens to me) but display did not come back at all. So I thought ok I will wait a few mins and it should come back, after about 5mins I hear this roaring fan noise coming form inside my computer which sounded like it was coming from my gtx 660 and gtx 550ti at this point nothing was responding. So I just went ahead and hard shut it down, I have not turned my desktop back on for fear of causing damage to anything. any help is greatly appreciated!

You`re not running them in SLI are you ?

I`m sure you`re not, but just had to ask.

Why do you have the 550 in the setup ?

How many monitors are you using ?

Hello.

I'm in quite a predicament. Today my computer started freezing and then the signal to the monitor would be lost, never to be recovered again, so I'd have to restart it. It happened twice. Then, at rebooting, I'm greeted with the message that I had a BlueScreen (0x116) happen.

So I look it up and mostly it just tells me to update my drivers, but there's a slight issue... I haven't been able to install ANY drivers from nVIDIA since I think v.339. So I look that up. I find a site that tells me to try and update the drivers through the Device Manager thing, so I do that, and... Well, for starters it wasn't an nVIDIA driver... But okay, I guess. It asked for me to reboot. And.... Nothing.

It did turn on once out of insistence and went to initialization repair, and... *sigh* it got stuck. Couldn't even cancel it. So I try and reboot it another dozen times, and nothing.
It does light up, it lights up the mouse and keyboard, but nothing on monitor.
I've checked the cables enough times already.

Hey i have a question regarding mobile graphics card. i was looking at two different laptops <http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9172851&st=asus+stylish+laptop&lp=2&type=product&cp=1&id=1218044029604>

one is equipped with a NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS and the other with a NVIDIA GeForce 9400M.

I found on notebookcheck that the 9400m is ranked higher than the 9300m, but the 9400 is an integrated card, and that the 9300m has dedicated memory! i am confused because i always believed that a dedicated card will be better than integrated so i am very confused!!!

please comment if you can clear this up for me! thanks much

I have tendency to mess up my computer, and usually everything goes back to normal after a reformat

but after this time, my computer seems to be moving generally slower. particularly, when i got to shutdown, it remains on the shutdown screen for a good 2-3 minutes before actually shutting when before i would see the blue shutdown screen for about 10-20 seconds.

also, i have gateway profile 5 and it has the turn off monitor option, and it used to work. but it doesn't now. when i set the turn off monitor option to 2 minutes, i have to reboot the whole thing and then it turns off after 2 minutes, otherwise the monitor doesn't turn off at all. i would turn off the monitor manually, but that's not an option with profiles (like there's no button).

so i don't know whats wrong. i contemplated trying to re-installing windows but i wanted to make sure that that would actually work before i started messing around again.

and in advance, thanks

(i put this up on another site and i didn't get any replies, so i'm putting it here)

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...6D-8912-4E18-B570-42470E2F3582&displaylang=en

2 > Try troubleshooting it using "clean boot" techniques:

Run msconfig and select the "Services" tab. Check "Hide Microsoft Services" and then disable the rest. Also uncheck "load startup group" on the general page.

See this link for detailed information:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;310353

Now restart and test the issue at hand

If no problems, run msconfig and recheck half the disabled items on the Services tab. Test again. If the problem recurs, UNcheck half the items you just checked to narrow down the culprit.

If the problem didn't occur, check the other half, so all the Services are enabled -- proceed to do this on the startup tab as well.

Get the idea? You want to isolate the problem to a specific startup if possible.

Note: if you already have items unchecked under msconfig > startups and are in &#8220;selective&#8221; startup mode &#8211; you should note what these are before beginning. They will need to be de-selected again.

Hey all, I picked up a geforce 6800 ultra in December. Last week I noticed some weird artifacts when using 2D apps on the windows xp desktop (most notably quicken and IE). What happens is, for certain apps, every now and again, I'll get a whole horizontal line of pixels (or 2) across the screen to flicker. Occasionally, I get a bleeding effect too.

I thought it was the card, but I returned it and got a new one and the effect is still there.

It doesn't happen all the time and if I minimize the app and re-open it, it'll go away.

I've gotten the latest drivers, and my display hasn't caused me problems.

Thoughts?

I am completely stumped with this one and have tried just about everything.

First of all, I'm running windows 7

My rig is using a Geforce GTX 570, which I run dual monitors out of.

My main monitor is an Acer AL2616W, and my secondary is a Westinghouse L2210NW. Both monitors are DVI. I've had this set up for 2 years with no issues.

Two nights ago I shut my computer off as normal, turn it on the next day and the Acer is not detected and has no signal. There were no updates or changes to the computer. It just, apparently, stopped working.

Neither the nvidia control panel or the windows display control panel could detect my main monitor. The monitor also disappeared from the device manager.

I tried unplugging the monitor, flipping it off and on, switching the ports, switching the cables - nothing changes the situation. So you would think it would be the monitor, however, the main monitor still works when going through the boot screens with first powering on my computer. It isn't until the windows welcome screen that it shuts off and starts working exclusively on my Westinghouse.

I think it could be a driver issue, but I'm stumped. If I disable the nvidia driver so the display works through the basic motherboard display, the Acer starts to work. Of course since it's not using the GPU drivers, the resolution is super low, and no duel monitors. But the point is, the Acer works when the nvidia drivers are disabled. I have tried updating the drivers, r... Read more

Hi,

Since installing Vista 64-bit I'm having trouble with nvidia drivers for it. I have a Geforce 8800GTS 512mb PCI-E graphics card which I have used fine for the last few months.

I was using Vista 32-bit those last few months, but now I've made the switch to Vista 64-bit for the reasons that I get it free through my university and also to see if there is a performance boost.

Since using Vista 64-bit and installing the latest and older Nvidia drivers, when on my monitor's native resolution 1920x1080, it doesnt fill the whole screen, there is about an inch on everyside where the screen is just black, with the desktop sitting inside this, obviously I cannot use my monitor like this as 1920x1080 is small enough as it is, without it being reduced to a size of about a 19" screen.

I then switched to Omega drivers to see if this would fix it and it does, I could run 1920x1080 on the monitor perfectly. But when playing some games, colours would be different and anti-aliasing would be working etc. In the case of GTAIV, there weren't actually any textures at all.

Therefore I would like to use the Nvidia drivers but I can't run the resolution 1920x1080 because of my problem, and I really hate using 1680x1050 because all text is a bit blurry.

I have tried using the Nvidia Control Panel to adjust the scaling, if I apply any of the 4 scaling options, none of them make any different whatsoever, there is still an inch of nothing around the disp... Read more

Hey,

You should be able to boot and POST atleast, is this the case? If this is the case, go into safe mode and go to device manager using the below method - once here, search for the drivers for your card and right click, properties, uninstall (or rollback, which will change them to your last most recent drivers for your card).

Start > Run > devmgmt.msc

Every time i install the GPU drivers for my Zotac GTX 780, the computer starts crashing a minute or two after the boot. I can access the desktop for a short period of time before the monitor goes black and/or loses signal. Sometimes I can't access it at all.

There are no problems when not having any GPU drivers installed.

I have tried the following;
* Installing older GPU drivers (several old versions, wiped all old files both manually and by using software)
* Reinstalling the OS (changing from win8.1 to win7)
* Turned off automatic Windows Update so that they don't interfere with NVIDIA's (GPU drivers)
* Changing the cable and monitor

Feels like I've tried everything and nothing works!

I've tried using older beta drivers, and the same result. I don't have any problem running with the 181.2 drivers, but I'd like to update them for better gaming performance

specs: Vista Home Basic 32 bit, Intel Core2 Duo e8400 3.0 ghz, ASUS PN5-D motherboard, 4 gb ddr2 RAM, 2 EVGA 9800 GT's in SLI configuration.

A:the latest nvidia drivers make my monitor go dark

Try the latest drivers 195.00 .. and you're running Windows Vista 32BIT that is part of the problem.. Doesn't have enough address space to utilize the resources.

Vista Basic is NOT made for gaming. I'd recommend getting a 64-bit OS.

32BIT at MAX will only address 3.3GB of Memory.

Hi all,
I have a XPS 8300 from 2011.
My son wanted to upgrade his GPU (he has a Erazer 310 (www.inet.se/.../lenovo-erazer-x310-gtx-750) which has a Nvidia GTX 750 Ti like this one (www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-750-Ti-Desktop-Graphics-Card.126721.0.html)
So I thought it was the perfect time to take his 750 Ti and upgrade both PC's at the same time.
I took my GPU out of the XPS 8300 and inserted the 750 TI. Nothing happened. The PC did not recognize the card.
Then I started to read all types of discussions, problems, adventures and what not, about this PC and a GPU upgrade. Man, I was about to do a BIOS flashing without even knowing what that meant...I have to admit that it has been 2 very interesting days and I have learnt a lot and then...
Then I found the simpliest video with the simplest explanation on how to do proceed. I tried it and completely succeeded in about 15 minutes (plus 10 minutes of downloading a driver).
So, here is the link to the video. The video is in Spanish but these are the SO LOGICAL steps (www.youtube.com/watch):
I added two steps on my own and then followed the video:
1. My step: Turn on the PC and unistall the stock GPU (from the device manager)
2. Turn of the computer.
The video explanation starts in second 50:
3.Disconnect the power (for security reasons).
4. Open the case and extract the GPU you currently have (he does not show this in the video)
5. Check that at least you have 300 W. The XPS 8300 has a 460 W power supply so... Read more

I have an older machine I use for backup (Dell OptiPlex 745) fairly well appointed, with an on-the-motherboard graphics adapter (Intel, I think) running one monitor and a plug-in nVidia based adapter, running two monitors. I was running Linux on it until January 2015, when I joined the Windows Insider Program and installed Win 10. At first the two nVidia-driven monitors would not work at all, but in a few months they started working after an update download from Microsoft (I was a "fast track" Insider). All was well until February 2016, when both nVidia monitors quit working and my WiFi card went dead. I tried a number of things, but no no avail. I got the nVidia-based monitors when I directly downloaded a driver from the manufacturer, but after that, when the first Microsoft update was downloaded, the nVidia-driven screens went blank. I really need three monitors for the work I do. I tried all sorts of things, including a hard disk wipe and complete reload of Win 10. No success. I just ran out of time to experiment with it after a few weeks.

I'm now very concerned about my main machine. It's an older custom-built machine with an Intel Core2 Q6600 processor and two graphics cards: a GeForce 8800GT and GeForce 9500GT, driving four monitors. I really can't screw up on my Win 7 to 10 upgrade and loose this machine because of bad device drives forced on me by Microsoft.

QUESTION: Does anyone have success with the 8800GT and/or 9500GT?

Nvidia designs and makes the GeForce line of graphics chips. Other manufacturers such as Asus, evga, BFX, PNY and others then use the Nvidia chips in their graphics card designs.

Hello,

I am thinking of getting a new graphics card for x-mas. I currently have a Geforce 8600 GT and i was looking at this GT 220.

Which is better? i think the 220 is but i just wanted some expert confirmation.

GT 220: http://www.siliconmadness.com/2009/07/nvidia-geforce-g-210-and-gt-220.html (scroll down past the 210)

8600 GT: http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_8600.html (The right Column)

A:NVIDIA GT 220 VS Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT

Why bother? If you want to upgrade from an 8600GT - you need to buy a card that has a noticable difference.

For example... the 9500/9400GTs are also pretty much re-badged 8600s. Think of the 220 as a smaller and cheaper to make version of the 8600GT with blu-ray decoding abilities. Its more like a bit better version of the 8600GTs.... that costs $65~95.

An ATI 4670 is about $60~95. Heres a nice one at $80: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161287&cm_re=4670-_-14-161-287-_-Product

But for real big speed bumps - look at ATI 4800s/5700s or at least a GTX 260... or even the GT250 (which is a 9800GT which is a 8800GT - UGH! )
These cards are about $ 120~200.

Your power supply will also be important too. Do you know your brand and model number?

Also your computers own performance.

nForce is chip-set, GeForce is graphics. I would say that GeForce 8200P / GeForce 8200P-A-AR is refering to your graphics card not your chip-set.

Alright, here's the deal.
? Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit, with SP2 RC.
? nVidia Gforce 9600 GT

Never had problems updating the drivers to their latest versions (downloaded from nvidia.com) until I de-installed Spybot (that crappy anti-spyware thing).

After that, everytime I try to install (after a deinstallation) or update the current drivers nothing happens. Install runs fine, copies files, reboots and voila... same drivers as before.

The only drivers that actually I was able to install were the 178.13 via the internal Windows Update. That's it. If I don't install them, the VGA card is shown as "vgasave" in the Device Manager.

I'm quite fed up with this and planning to reinstall Vista, but backuping everything up is going to be a real hassle, that's why I'm trying to find out a possible solution to this beforehand.

Any suggestions?.
Thanks in advance!

A:Nvidia 8200 Drivers /Nvidia 9200

If you go to the File Hippo site you will find lots of past version Nvidia drivers but you might be up against it if you can't remember the driver version you want. Trial and error maybe the only way to go.
If you do decide to try different versions I'd be using driver sweeper between installing.

I don't know much about GPUs on PCs, I recently just got a Zotac GT 430 1GB DDR3 and when I go to install it's own drivers from the new March 2012 Nvidia GeForce drivers, it installs this NVIDIA HD Audio drivers and I got no sound since I can't use my Realtek Audio, I have to disable my realtek onboard audio on the BIOS to avoid the system from crashing/freezing, I mostly got freezing. I just need help, I hope someone can tell me how I can install the GT 430's drivers fine and NVIDIA Audio drivers (if I have to) and still use my Realtek Audio without my system having a conflict with NVIDIA and Realtek audio drivers.

What I have been told to fix this (via Steam): use older drivers via from the CD. - But I wanna know what you people here at TechSupportGuy think.

A:Nvidia GeForce GT 220

It will play modern games at low resolutions without AA. The Radeon 4650 is a small step up. You might try looking for a used 8800gt. I just picked up another 4870 for $55 and a 9600gso for $35 on some other forums.

hi can forgive me for my dumbness

can anyone explain to me my Graphic Card Specs

Im asking this because i remember buying this graphic card a year ago having 1gb. Im confused because i can't see 1gb on the specs.

A:Nvidia geforce 210

It depends on the card manufacturer. What you have linked to is the page from NVidia which lists the reference specs for a card of that type. Other manufacturers take the reference design and customize/tweak it. The changes that they typically make is to increase the amount of memory (usually by higher-capacity chips or by inserting chips into otherwise empty memory positions on the PCB) and/or pre-overclock the card (make it run faster than reference).

To find the actual specs for your card, you will need to check the card manufacturer's website (Sparkle, PNY, etc.).

Hello everyone! I have a quick question that I hope can be answered fairly quickly as this is the last ting I need to know before buying this PC. I am wanting to buy this PC HP Compaq 8000 Small form factor , but I couldn't find any specs on video cards. I need a VERY decent video card because I am a digital artist. I have always had Nvidia cards and they have always worked great, so, was wondering if any of you spec genius' could tell me if the MSI Nvidia GEForce is compatible? If not, what would you recommend?I also need to do a memory upgrade, what is compatible? Thank you in advance

After that, you can use options above. Regards.

nVidia GeForce GT 240 GDDR3 vs. nVidia GeForce GT 220

I've compared these two online, and i'm still not sure which is better.

i just bought the GT240 and 'Can Your Run It' is saying that i cannot run Supreme Commander 2 but not really telling me why. it also says i cannot run Supreme Commander 1 which runs fine on my system.

so i'm thinking of returning the GT240 and getting the GT220.

your thoughts?

A:nVidia GeForce GT 240 vs. GT 220

The GT 240 is a better card then the GT 220, hence the higher model number. Neither is a great gaming card though, but the GT 240 is good enough for most games. See a benchmark here with both cards and lasts years mid range card and the previous years near top card, the 8800GT: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gt-240,2475.html

Here are the requirements for Supreme Commander 2: http://www.game-debate.com/news/?ne...2&title=Supreme Commander 2 Full System Specs

Note the CPU recommended, dual core. Your Pentium 4 is going to be the weak link.

P.S. "Can you Run it" isn't perfect.

Hi guys. I am planning on upgrading my GTX 555 OEM cause its a little to low end for my taste. The question I have for all the tech-savy people out there is which graphics card should I get? A Geforce GTX 680, 690, or 780? I've heard that the 690 is basically 2 680s running in SLI. If that's true, that means any games that wont work with SLI or don't perform well with SLI, will still have the same problems and I wont be able to do anything about it. So i was wondering which one do you think I should get? I wanna be able to run any next gen games on max settings if not, one below max settings.

Thanks.

So I've installed the correct driver as prescribed by one of the members off the NVidia forums. It comes to a part, half-way into the installation that it freezes and you still get that laggy graphics. Now in device driver it says that "Video Controller" it says that "Drivers for this device is not installed. (Code 28)" And I have a choice to "reinstall driver" which is confusing... also have a few choices to update, rollback and uninstall driver. It's been an issue for the past 3 months, although it has worked once when I attempted to install a game - and mysteriuously enabled me to "enable driver".

Thanks a lot if you can help.
