Viewsonic VA1912w and Vista Business

Q: Viewsonic VA1912w and Vista Business

Desperately seeking help.

Have a new SonyZ laptop with Vista Business installed. It is clashing with almost everything I've tried to load.

Main problem is trying to connect to an external monitor: Viewsonic VA1912w.

I cannot find any drivers which will let this happen. Earlier posts (some time ago) suggest that the connection was not possible but was expected to be feasible in the near future ie it should be available now.

Can anyone suggest a solution??

A: Viewsonic VA1912w and Vista Business

Vista 32 or 64? I had a problem with my video driver and it turned out to be my monitor driver.

I am on Vista Ultima x64 so YMMV... I had to find a x64 Vista driver from a different model model (newer model). Fortunately for me, it worked well and I no longer have the conflict.

I have never heard of this issue with Vista 32 so I have to assume that you also have 64. if not the case... I am stumped!

download drivers for your video card, the driver for the monitor that you get from the box with the monitor only tells your pc, you have a viewsonic 19" TFT

A:i want viewsonic VA1912w audio driver

The ViewSonic VA1912W is a monitor, it doesn't have audio drivers. You need drivers for your motherboard's sound chip or sound card. Try the computer manufacturer's website or the motherboard manufacturer's website.

I'm looking for the Vista HP x64 driver for a ViewSonic VX2025wm monitor. This monitor isn't listed on the ViewSonic site any more. I'm having an issue with the EVGA GeForce 9800GT video card that I installed. The card does't see the monitor at all. I have done everything that you can think of including contact with EVGA. I do have service pack 2 installed and the last thing I can do is reinstall the driver for this monior. I don't have the CD with this monitor any more and I'm not sure if there is a generic ViewSonic Vista video driver. Thie video card supports two LCD DVI inputs. My other monitor is a ViewSonic vx2433wm and this is working fine with the card. I've looked on and it's not listed there either. Done a few google searches to but these sites want a $25 fee or something to join to download the driver that doesn't look right either....

A:Vista driver for ViewSonic vx2025wm

Do you get a display, even if the monitor iss not listed there should be some sort of display, even if it is low res low colour.

Do not pay for a driver, as you have already thought it is a rip off.

This may be your answer,

PNY 6600 AGP / Viewsonic vx2025wm monitor - No DVI out - Nvidia - Graphic-Displays

I know it is a different card however, it may work.

These are two options on a Lenovo machine...
I did click the 'Help Me Decide' but it didn't explain the difference. Anyone know?

A:Difference between Vista Business and Vista Business 64 ?

The 64bit ver will support more ram. If you use more than 3gig of ram with a 32bit os, it will not "See" more than approx 3.2gig.

Next driver support is not as good with 64bit os. Check that there are drivers for ALL of your hardware before buying a 64bit os.

According to Windows You are not able to upgrade from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows Vista Business.

I wanted to join one of our developers to our domain, unfortunately this developer has a machine running Windows Vista Home Premium. We have a license to Windows Vista Business. After reading the website above it is not possible to upgrade, only to do a clean install.

This is not an option for the company since we have some serious deadlines to meet.

I started doing research online for cloning solutions but the question is rather complex to put in a search query.

In essence this is what I am trying to do.

Install a cloning software to make a copy of the hard drive.
Do a clean install from Home Premium to Windows Business.
Use cloning software to put all applications, user's settings, etc exactly the way it was before installing Windows Business without any conflicts.

Will there be any conflicts (i.e. with the registry) or anything else, since the applications where installed in Windows Vista Home and now they are running in Windows Vista Business?

What is the best (if possible free) cloning software that I could use to clone the developer's stuff?

Is this even possible?

I appreciate any help I can get. I just started this job and don't want to let my bosses down.

Thank you very much!

OK...I have a Vista Business machine and a Vista Home Premium machine. I want to share a Folder from the Vista Business machine to my kids Vista Home Premium photo's and such. I have it shared on my machine, but they can't connect to the drive from their machine. What am I missing? Getting "Access Denied" and I have permissions set to read only instead of full control. Advice and pointers are welcome. BTW, they are on a wireless PC that connects via my LinkSys Router. This is all on a HOME network.

Just bought a new desktop from Dell that was pre-installed with Windows Vista Home Basic, later wanted to upgrade to Windows Vista Business, so I bought the Windows Vista Business separately from the retail store and try to install it.

But halfway during the upgrade installation, an error message popped up and says that some files are corrupted or something, with error 0X80070017, and the upgrade was cancelled.

I have tried many times which included doing a clean install or installing during boot time, all lead to the same error.

The copy of Windows Vista that I bought was a genuine copy and the hardware should meet all requirements, it's a Pentium D 915, 1 GB RAM with 160GB HDD.

Can anyone please help? I need to get the desktop upgraded to Vista Business by this week.

I haven't really been able to find any clear information on this, all i've been able to find out about is from XP to Vista.

I recently spent £750 on home studio equipment (I'm an fan of music production and will be off to uni in september to get a degree in it)... but what i didn't realise was, the main software that came with one of the components (Pro Tools LE 8 if it matters?) isn't compatible with Vista Home Premium, which i didn't realise.

So i was wondering, firstly, is it possible to upgrade from Home Premium to Business/Ultimate?

If so, What is the best method of doing it?
(Or what ARE the methods of doing it?)
Can you download it? Should you order a disc from Microsoft?

Thirdly, How much would it cost?
I've only been able to find prices which i think are for XP to Vista, coming to about £200 (I can't afford to be spending that much right now), so would going from Vista Home Premium to Business/Ultimate be any cheaper?

A:Vista Home Premium to Vista Business/Ultimate Question

Yes, there is a method to upgrade "Windows Anytime Upgrade".

Got to the Control Panel, and click on "Windows Anytime Upgrade", and follow the instructions.

I have used this during the Beta of Vista and Windows 7 and it works great during beta. I have not tried on a production machine, but have heard that it works.

My son's laptop is a brand new Dell with Vista home and M$ Office. We purchased Vista Business but the upgrade dies with a ""Windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase of installation" error message.

I noted there are dozens of similar problems on the web but M$ is strangely quiet about this problem andthere appears to be no solution.

Micro$oft are prepared to take the cash for the upgrade but not provide the support...

I'm currently enrolled in an online university, and part of the course requirements is to have Vista Business installed on my pc. I'm currently running Home Premium and I have a link from the school for a free upgrade. My question is when I upgrade will I lose my personal data, or will it be safe? I have a 320gig HDD that has over 150gigs of my own personal data I want to keep. I'm just curious if I have to back everything up before I do the upgrade, or will it simply overwrite itself leaving my personal files alone?

It's always smart to back up critical data when doing a major thing like upgradeing the operating system, but it should not delete your data if you do it right

Hello people! I am having quite the time over here with a Vista machine of mine and I honestly think it's out to get me. My job is computer support for my college campus and I would like to think that I am fairly good with computers. With that said, let me give you a rundown of the situation :

The computer is an Optiplex 755 (with standard core features) that has a BFG 850w power source, 8 gb RAM, and a nice Nvidia GTX card. I am running Vista Business x32 on it and finally decided to take advantage of all of my RAM, so I bought Vista Ultimate x64 (Red Edition if that helps) and popped it in. It said that it could not read the media (and I read the MS article on why that was so) and then decided to boot from the disk. I did so, and got fairly far up until I had to select the drive. I selected C, and then next to the "Next" button, I got a funny message that read:

To use the product key you entered, start the installation on a computer that is running a genuine version of windows.

For the record, I purchased this computer/OS is the most legit way possible (through my college). I am stuck in what would appear to be a Catch 22. It's asking me to install it via a method that just brought me to what I am staring at now. This situation quite honestly, is beyond me. I have already taken out all my RAM, save 2 GB, and all the PCI cards, save the GTX, like other guides suggested and that doesn't seem to be working. If you need any more information other than what I have s... Read more

A:Vista Business x32 - Vista Ultimate x64 upgrade issues

Isn't the red edition a cracked copy?

Either way, go out and purchase a standard 64 bit Full version of Vista, wipe everything and do a clean install. Then back up the registry with Erunt, and do a complete disk image with Macrium Reflect Free once the updates and drivers are installed, as a backup, if those installs go smoothly.

Do I have to roll back to XP to install the home premium or can I install over the business edition?
Thank you

A:Vista Business vs Vista Home Premium

I believe you would have to restore the PC back to XP to install Home Premium, as it's likely that is not seen as an upgrade - Business can only be upgraded to Ultimate IIRC.

I just got a new Lenovo T400 notebook with Vista Business. When setting my photos screensaver, I don't have the option for Themes. Also, the photos don't stretch to the full screen size. They leave an inch or so of black screen on each side of the screen.

Is this a Vista Business issue? From reading threads on the internet, it sounds like people w/ Vista Home might not have this issue?

Is there any workaround or fix that I can use to fix this? Or is it an unrelated issue?

Hi -
I read your sticky on Vista and the SP1 and SP2 updates.
I read the Microsoft white papers concerning both.

Ii have Vista Business installed and the auto update is now updating it to SP1 but it didn't do it straight away; and i understand that is due to it checks for hardware drivers to be updated and that all other updates are installed first before installing via the auto update feature in Vista.

Though i read about Vista Business in the SP1 update - no mention is of Vista Business or Ultra in the SP2 update...

My question is - should all versions of Vista - Home - Premium - Ultra - Business - Server install SP2?

I read Server and "Vista" whichi take is the Home version.... but nothing mentioned as tated about Business or Ultra which are supposed to be different than the others.

I don't want to screw my comp up any worse than it is - i'm hoping these updates will stragihten some of it out actually and de-bloat the registry.

Hi I am running a quad core 3.0mhz pc with 8gb ram....

I have in my hand a cd with XP 64 pro, and a CD with vista 64 business on it....

If i have to choose only one, which would it be? in regards to speed, reliability and compatibility?

any help would be appriciated

A:XP 64 pro or Vista 64 business

I would give speed to XP, reliability about the same, and a pretty big tip to Vista 64 Biz for compatibility. 64-bit XP would probably only work if there was a specific and limited purpose in mind for the system for which drivers were already aquired (becuase there aren't any new one being written on a commercial scale as far as I know) and programs intended to run were already known to be compatible.

Well, with my first experience with Windows Vista Business (x64 OEM), I must say it was not a good experience.

1) Attempted to do clean install over Win XP Pro x64.
2) Install on partition 2 (D
3) All appeard to go well, until last possible momement. This at the end of the install during a re-boot of the system.
4) At reboot, system received the "blue-screen-of-death". Windows Vista, within approximately 3 seconds, rebooted again - insufficient time to get meaningful information.
5) System repeated 4 about 4 times before I could interrupt it to elect to boot from the CD via the BIOS prompt.

Never was able to get sufficient information from the "blue-screen" to post here.

64-bit Vista Business, Error = 216
hi We have a product that works with windows 32-bit version of OSes. Now we are about to support the 64-bit OS. We didn't do any changes to software and knowing that 64-bit OS can still support 32 bit applications. The software works fine on 64-bit Vista Ultimate and throws error on 64-bit Vista Business edition. We performed this tests on two machines and they have same hardware configuration. Only difference is the OS. Software that we developed communicates to external device using USB TO serial (COMM) interface. Every time the software tries to communicate to USB to serial interface i am getting following error message. Error running "C:\program files(x86)\...\COM_HOOK.EXE" Error = 216. Hi everyone

Is Vista Business 32 bit support 4 GB RAM ?

A:Vista Business 32 bit support 4 GB RAM ?

Hi 32 bit system address up to 4gb 2^32 however I guess you are wondering why you only show 3+ something Ram. From my notes:-

32 bit operating systems support a physical address range of up to 4gb, however this range is sub divided to manage both the computers PCI address range (also known as MMIO, or referred to as the kernel) and Ram.The PCI address range is used to manage much of the computer's components including the BIOS,IO cards, networking, PCI hubs, bus bridges, PCI-Express, and todays high performance video cards (including their memory).Typically this amts to .6 to 1.2 gb for the PCI address range.

On boot up the Bios allocates PCI addresses down from 4GB to manage the computers components, then the bios allocates physical user Ram from address 0 up to the bottom of the PCI address range or up to the amount of the installed physical Ram whichever is less. The upper limit on available physical Ram is usually between 3GB and 3.4GB.

(couldn’t say witch one, because I’ve uninstalled it in a state of panic).
When I’ve tried to  open the image file, my screen got crowded with images of start pages of my iso App and gradually all my desktop shortcuts icons have been replaced by the iso App icon.
If i tried to open any shortcut a message popped up saying that there is nothing to open. Any attempt to open any application a message popped up saying that there is no application to be pend.
No application, no matter which one, could be opened, not even my  Chrome shortcut. But i can open the Chrome browser  from my start menu, which it is striped of many other short cuts.
through  Chrome browser, i did downloaded some malware detection app’s but attempting to install them a window is popping up asking with which application  should open this –exe- file.
Finally i did try to scan my Laptop with the Windows MSRT (Malware Software Removal Toolkit) by typing –mrt- in the –command promp... Read more

Two identical HP laptops, networked to HP 2840 printer. One can print PDF's the other can't.

Tried to uninstall Acrobat reader 9.x.x and it said it couldn't since "applications" were open. Nothing was open. Even killed a few processes for good measure.

Was going to down level the Acrobat install to 8.x to see if that corrected the problem.

There were other print setting issues that couldn't be explained - ports set up wrong even though printing had worked earlier in the day.

Just looking for some quick pointers, I'll be returning to the client site tomorrow, and would liek to make it quick as my vacation starts as soon as I'm done with them (LOL!!!). New client who fired the last techs for incompetence.

I'm thinking that print drivers might be corrupted... even though it communicated with printer ( will print test pages / non-PDF documents) as soon as I print a PDF the printer says "Printing Document" and justblinks the "ready" light. Usually that means data transferring, but the file is only 400Kb or so, should take THAT long.

Hello everyone! I have been having lots of STOP 0x0000007F (0x0000000D, 0x0, 0x0, 0x0) blue screens while running certain games and sometimes while running an anti-virus scan with avast! 4.8 Home Edition (which I manually update daily.) Usually, even though I had it set up to create a minidump in the default location and not automatically restart, the dump files would never finish being created (according to the blue screen) no matter how long I left it at that state. Fearing my RAID drivers could be the issue, I downloaded the latest nvidia nForce4 chipset drivers for my motherboard straight from nvidia and updated them all and rebooted. Then I played one of the games that guaranteed a BSOD within minutes, and sure enough it did. To my surprise, the dump file was successfully created in an instant. I had a peek into it with the Windows Debugging tools and noticed that amdk8.sys was the possible cause, so I looked around online to find out about it. One remedy was to rename the amdk8.sys located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers to amdk8.old.sys and to disable the AMD Cool'n'Quiet control in the motherboard BIOS. I did so and once again tried Oblivion, the BSOD inducer. For a moment I thought it had worked, until it bluescreened about 3 minutes later than usual, producing a BugCheck 1000008E, {c000001d, 86cc25a5, 803ecc1c, 0} (according to the Windows Debugging tool.)

I'm sure the files obtained via the methods of this post provide all the information about my computer specs... Read more

STOP 0x7f's are usually hardware errors, with memory being the most common. So, running MemTest was a wise choice

Please update your motherboard chipset drivers.
Your audio device is disabled, is this by your choice?
Run SFC.EXE /SCANNOW from an elevated command prompt

AMDk8.sys is a Windows file and should be replaced by SFC.EXE The file is listed as a problem in your msinfo32 report. If SFC.EXE doesn't replace it, then I'd try the following:
- uninstall the Processor(s) in Device Manager, reboot and let Windows reinstall it.
- rename the amdk8.sys driver to amdk8.BAK and then run SFC.EXE again - to see if it replaces it
- locate a copy of that driver and attempt to copy it to the appropriate folder
- a repair install of Vista

The first 2 memory dumps were due to the amdk8.sys file, the second 2 were inconclusive. I'd expect that fixing the amdk8 issue will fix the others, but if it doesn't we should be able to get more information from subsequent dump files.

Here's the summary of the memory dumps:

A:BSOD - Vista Business

Hi -

Vista needs 2 GB RAM minimum. It is possible that having only 1 GB RAM is causing excessive paging (utilizing virtual memory - page file) and is causing overheating to occur.

Check temps with SpeedFan -

Upgrade to 2 GB RAM, but I would advise that you purchase all new RAM, i.e., matching sticks.

I've recently bought the upgrade to W8, and in so doing, i've also bought a new larger hard drive.

All went fine until I came to validate my copy and was unable to as Vista could not be found on the new drive.

I have an OEM licensed laptop, so was wondering how I go about this?

As far as I can make out, I need to install and register Vista (business) on the new hard drive before I can upgrade, however, being an OEM licensed computer, I don't have a disc.

Where can I get a copy of Vista business to put on my new hard drive? Or is there any other way of validating W8 that I am unaware of?

All suggestions greatfully received.

I bought a Lenovo R61 with Vista Business and I hear that I have direct downgrade rights as long as I have a legitamate XP media. How do I downgrade this system correctly?

A:Vista Business Downgrade

First off why are you downgrading a machine that is built to run vista? If you are having a few issues why not either dual boot or run a virtual pc with xp in it? Dont believe all the horror stories you have read about vista its not that bad of an os. try it out for a while give it some time but remember if you do reformat and go back to xp vista now is designed and its a pain in teh *** to reactivate it they tend to ask a lot more questions now. If you truely want to do this... Boot to your xp cd then delete all the partitions and repartition using ntfs and format and install windows its all in a gui and very easy to do if you need any help feel free to ask and someone or even me can help you do it.

I am having too many problems to list. I have tried to restore to a previous check point, but every one of the checkpoints results in an error and is aborted. When I was trying to update windows one of the updates wouldn't work and I was told that I may need to reinstall Vista. So if I am going to reinstall, I want to know if it will wipe my hard drive. It takes about three days to completely restore my files, and that doesn't include the software that I have to reinstall after that. I would like to just do the install we used to have where the program would ask if you just wanted to repair damaged or missing files. But I don't want to click next until I know what will happen.

Hello everyone ,
I have been using Vista for a couple of months and have done a lot of installations and uninstallations so far.

My problem is that the PC boots up very slowly and I began to occasionally receive Blue Screen Errors. I think I have most up to date drivers for my hardware and applied most of the tutorials in the Speed Up the Performance of Vista Tutorial on my PC. However I have a RAID 0 setup and 3 partitions on my HDs and couldn not apply the #6. Enable Advanced Performance for the Hard Drive tutorial.

At system startup up Windows Explorer crashes sometimes and while playing Adobe Flash Movies from a CD I got an Blue Screen Error after I restarted the computer in Safe Mode with Net Support and now I am writing this post; the computer booted faster in safe mode without Kaspersky AV and ATI CCC.

After boot the windows reported that the cause of unexpected error was Intel Matrix Storage Manager(iaStor.sys)? A:Having Problems with Vista Business 32-bit

Hi TMM, one sure answer for the 3 GB of ram showing is that you are using 32 bit OS.

Well, assuming every thing is up to date and overheat is not a problem, I will run mentest and chkdsk to eliminate that the memory and the HDDs are at fault.

Besides, as a routine, please check all connections and components are set and secure. Pay special attention to the SATA connections at the HDDs by wiggle, shack, and tug on them to assure a good connection. Replace SATA cables with after market ones when you have a chance. The one comes with the mother board usually are problematic.

Check your remote desktop settings under your system properties?
control panel/system/advanced system settings/remote tab.
Check that you are allowing connections from computers running any version
of remote desktop and check that your main user account has been allowed
access (select users).
If your main account is a domain account you will need to ensure that the location is set to your domain name.

You must do a full and upadated scan with your antivirus. It should take about an hour or so on average
You should download and make a full and upadated scan with malwarebytes.
If these come up negative try with a clean boot.

Newbie request!

I upgraded from XP Pro to a new machine with Vista Business a year ago (why?) DOH!

PROBLEM: MISSING NETWORK: I have a Tritton NAS200 (missing) and 2 XP Pro and 1 XP home machine (missing) from the VISTA Network.

Ive struggled with this for weeks and searched many forums and previous posts without a solution. I finally ended up just leaving the machine for a year without touching it, because I did not have more time to sort it or learn this new OS as it seemed was required. Nobody I phoned could help. All suggested go back to XPpro. Well I just got started to try again and am head banging it badly! and am ready to lift and shove this machine out the window and watch with delight as it meets the concrete pavement below.

ORIGINALLY: When I first switched it on and attached the network adaptor cable connected to the router/switch all machines/ devices on the network appeared! Wow perfect (?) But .... the next day and probably after a few Vista updates they all the devices disappeared, except for seeing itself only.

1) VISTA Network shows Router and PC1 (itself) only!
2) I can see PC2 XPpro on LAN (wired), SWITCH ,and GATEWAY in VISTA Network Map only, not under view Networsharing Center/ View computers and Devices.
3) PC3, PC4 wireless devices NOT, visable at all but wireless devices can see VISTA machine.
4) NAS (wired) Not visable.
5) I can see the Vista PC on all XP machine and file share.
6) I can FTP the NAS, (guess folder only) I... Read more

Hi I'm running a Dell XPS with Vista Business. Whenever I login to my user it accepts my password and says welcome, with the circle icon animating next to it, but it just hangs there. It's not frozen, because the icon keeps animating. So i turn it off by holding down the power button and start it up again. This time it asks me if I want to start in Safe Mode or not, but I usually start it up normally instead. This time it lets me log in but all the changes I make in this session will be gone when I restart the computer, and the whole problem starts over again. Any ideas why it hangs up in the first place?

Hi all,
I just recently recieved a certified refurbished Dell Precision M6400 to replace a Precision M6300 that had a video card failure. I was perfectly happy with the machine I had before, but after messing around with Dell for a week and them canceling three appointments to repair my machine without notifying me at ANY point in time, I found out that the part is back ordered and realistically not available for months...great. anyways...

They sent me a machine that had Vista Business but downgraded it to XP Pro. I have the disk for Vista Business but am not sure if reloading that is going to cause problems with the machine later on, or if it will work at all for that matter.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I have Windows XP Home on my PC and I am trying to upgrade to Vista Business.

I have walked through the installation process many times - with or without connecting to download updates - and receive the same error message:

"Windows cannot copy file required for installation. The files may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available and restart the installation. Error Code: 0x80070241"

How can I complete the upgrade?

A:Vista Business: The Upgrade was Canceled

Have you removed all of the NON Vista compatible software as listed in the report when you ran the Vista Upgrade adviser?

A:Problem to install XP over Vista Business

are you wanting to save anything because you probably should back up your data before you do a downgrade install.
I would recommend just formatting and reinstalling xp.
you can do that by booting from the xp cd and allowing it to format the partition you are installing to.(note: you will lose everything)

Hi all,

I am having what seems to me a very strange, complicated problem on my new laptop:

Lenovo Thinkpad T61 16U (14.1 inch widescreen version)
Intel T7300 @ 2.0 GHZ
2 GB Ram
Windows Vista Business 32 Bit
Trackpoint, Touchpad, and Microsoft Wireless Laser 6000 USB Mouse

Basically, the mouse performance is completely off within the Vista environment. It seems like the system will not recognize when I am holding the mouse button down, and it acts as if I am clicking the mouse button at times when I'm not.

Here are some numerous examples of what I mean:

- when I open the start menu and try to start a program, the menu closes before I can successfully click on the program and open it.So let's say I want to open Microsoft Word, which is in a Microsoft Office folder. I can click Start > all programs > Microsoft Office ... the folder will expand, and then everything closes before I can click on the program. I played around with settings, restarted the machine, and still it happens every time. Very frustrating. I can sometimes manage to get the program if I open the start menu several times in a row and am quick with the mouse.

- When I try to rename files or folders, the 'editable' version of the filename remains visible for approximately two seconds, and then reverts to the read-only view. Every time I right-click 'rename' or single click on a file/folder to rename it, the editable name that I can type into lasts only two seconds before g... Read more

Hallo All.

Can anyone please help me. I have a Lenovo y50-70 laptop. I like my vista and would like to stick with it for a while still but have problems with it.

It looks like Vista and y50 doesn't like each other.

In bios, updated to newest bios, reset to defaults, UEFI disabled, only legacy running, disabled all other related tech in bios, virtual crap, etc.

USB2 and USB3 flash drives with untouched Vista Business and Ultimate SP1 and SP2 with USB DVD drive also SP1 and SP2.

Whether you use USB2 or USB3 port, it will install once on either. Boot to desktop. Reboot and if you forget the USB or the DVD in the port it will corrupt the profile. It hangs intermittently, it freezes, it gives file errors, reading errors, etc.

The OS's are clean, drives are clean and Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and windows 10 run's fine on it.

Remember when the old AMD K6-250 CPU's hit the market, you could install win95 once and upon restart it would fail boot. Then Microsoft brought out a memory workaround that solved the issue, but you still needed to install the OS first. I think the problem relates to memory management or CPU and memory management.

I dont get BSOD's. Just freezing, corruption, etc. ....intermittently.

Can anybody please help me fix this or know the reason why this is happening. Currently running Win7, do wish to run Vista though. Thanx. JJ

I recently Upgraded my laptop to Vista Business. Over the last 3 days my computer just seems to crash for no reason. Last night it crashed 8 times while I was playing videos. I thought it might be MP 11 so I played on VLC. Same crashes happened. Its playing & from no where a blue screen (BSD) pops up. It doesn?t have any info just blue. It lasts about 2 -3 seconds then the whole system powers down abruptly. It then powers back up. The problem is sometime it fails 3-4 times before it successfully boots back up. Now today its crashed 6 times. I?m not running videos. Just a few Thunderbird Tabs Skype & Outlook. I?ve had Vista for over a month & this just started to happen. Once it successfully reboots I get a widow that says? System recovered from an unexpected shutdown? or something like that. It got the below info from that window.

A:My Vista Business Upgraded Laptop getting BSD a lot!!

Hi. . .

I see you have a few issues with your laptop.

You mention that the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) comes up containing no information and abruptly disappears. Sometimes the screen flashes so fast prior to system shutdown that it simply has not yet displayed the error information. There are a few system settings that you can make to retain the BSOD to get the error information off of it and to produce a 64k memory minidump that may help.

Here is a screen shot of the changes you should make:

When the BSOD comes up, either write down everything verbatim or take a picture or 2 of the screen and post it. The info that I would look for would be 1/2 - 3/4 down the screen on the left - it would say something to the effect "0x00000031 (0x00000007, 00000...." and you may see a driver file name something like "abcde123.sys". I consider these pieces of information to be vital and necessary prior to the commencement of finding a potential cause for this problem.

One other item - did I read your post correctly that you are running Vista Business with 702mb RAM? Most, including Microsoft, will tell you that Vista Business requires a minimum of 1024 mb RAM - and I would recommend going with at least 2048mb. This RAM issue may just be the root cause of your system problems.

regards. . .

Does Windows Vista Business automatically save word documents? There is a user that was working on a word document for a few hours but closed it out without saving. He swears that Vista will automatically save when you have had it open for a long time. Is this true?

I'm having a problem with Vista business that's driving me crazy. At work I have Vista business on a main machine (called MAIN). It's a Dell Vostro and it came pre-installed with Vista Business, 4 GB RAM, 200 GB hard drive. I have patient management and imaging software on it and I have up to 7 computers that connect to MAIN to access this software. I have all the sharing and security settings for "Everyone" and I can connect with all seven computers most of the time. But everyday, one or two of the workstation computers (running Vista basic), will be kicked off and I get an error message when I try to reconnect to MAIN "No more connections can be made at this remote computer at this time because there are already as many connections as this computer can accept."

So I can't access the software on MAIN, I can't print to the printer on MAIN, I can't do anything until I reboot MAIN. Then everything can connect again. This happens randomly and I know the maximum connections is 10 computers, so why am I having this problem with 7? Connection to the router is fine and I have internet connections on all seven. 2 of the seven are wired to the router and the other 5 are wireless connections.

Please help.

A:Sharing problems with Vista Business

Hi nimans and welcome to the forums

Does this problem happen with all 7 PCs or is it just those that are linked wirelessly? When a workstation is "kicked off", can the others still access MAIN as normal?

The following seems to be a common problem but the fixes mentioned in other threads have not helped me so far. I can see my XP PC in the Vista Network map but cannot access any of the shared XP drives although I can successful ping the XP PC. When I go to the System Properties on my Vista machine and select Network ID the following radio button is selected: This computer is part of a business network; I use it to connect to other computers at work.
I de-select this option and choose: This is a home computer; it's not part of a business network. However the setting always reverts back to the first option. I understand that XP Home will not allow the use of Domain i/o of workgroup and am wondering if this is where I'm getting hung up. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Hello All,

I am trying to unistall Windows Vista Business from my laptop and install WIndows XP Professional. When I run boot from CD (i.e. Windows XP Prof CD), everythings starts to load mormally, but then I get an error message saying that I need to stop caching and shadowing. As far as I can tell, the system in Windows VIsta Business is shadowed. ALso, after the preload is complete, the sewtup abruptly stops and reverts to WInodws VIsta Business operating system. The reason I need to go back to WIndows XP Professional is I have a HP DesignJet plotter that will not interface with Vista drivers. Maybe I am doing something wrong, but when I download the zipped file from HP, all that happens is the zipped file unzips but no insatllation of the drivers is perfomed. I am at a lost of ideas, so anything can and will help. Thanks.

I'm running Vista Business. I booted in the Safe Mode by selecting Safe Boot from the Boot tab in the System Configuration (MSCONFIG) utility. Now I can?t get back to a normal boot. When I un-check Safe boot in System Configuration, it automatically puts me in Selective startup (as seen in the General tab). And when I select Normal startup in the General tab, it puts me in the Safe boot mode. This problem was described in a 4/21/04 tutorial by Lawrence Abrams. I assume I need to edit the BCD registry file, but I don't know how to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
