How to make bullets work in Microsoft Word 2007

Q: How to make bullets work in Microsoft Word 2007

I know how to use bullets, but if you tab in the bullets, it will stay tabbed throughout the entire document unless you set up tabbed bullets again. When I try to backspace to go back to left alignment, it will delete the bullet and still stay tabbed. Basically what I am asking is after you do a tabbed bullet, how do you go back to aligning the bullets left again?

A: How to make bullets work in Microsoft Word 2007

Try shift-tab instead of Backspace to shift the tab to the left.

I have been scouring the web (with remarkably little success) to find a way that I can combine numbers and letters so that it looks like this:

(i) (a)

....(b)

(ii) (a)

....(b)

....(c) etc

It's different from multi-level lists in that those leave a blank line after the (i) etc. I have seen this done in publications, but none of the books or web guides have shown how to do it in word.

Any ideas?

When I try to create a new number bullet in Word 2007 I am the okay button is greyed out. Why can I not change the format? The okay button is allowed when I first go into format the bullet but as soon as I remove the preformatted text it the okay button is disallowed. For example I want to change the preformatted style from i. to (i) It will not allow me just put a bracket either side of the i I have to delete the i which is highlighted at this point the okay button disappers. Is there some permission that needs changing to allow me to make the changes I want?

I think I inadvertently changed formatting in Word and don't know how to get back to my original setting. When I invoke bullets or numbering in a document the set up works ok, however the bullet or number now has an arrow pointing to the right (see attached screen capture). It prints ok but I'm wondering how I can get back so that only the bullet or number shows. It's no big deal but I just find it annoying.

In previous versions of Word I clearly remember that I could create a "bullet" where the "bullet-symbol" was actually a piece of text I defined myself. For example I had a bullet style starting with the text "Note" and another starting with "Tip". I cannot for my life find how to do this in word 2007 - which btw is driving me nuts in general.

I have tried unformatting and starting all over again but my text runs all over the place. this is not my document and is the first time I am working on it. The sub bullets do not conform to the previous bullet and this changes from row to row
The second line of text in any of my bullets will not align properly to the text in the first line

A:Inserting Bullets in a table in Word 2007

One way to get your text aligned is to select the bullet, right click and then select "Adjust Line Indents" from the menu that pops up.

You can manually change the list level for each line by selecting it and then pressing SHIFT+ALT+RIGHT ARROW (or LEFT ARROW) to send that line lower (or higher) in the list level respectively.

You can also align a line by selecting it, going to the ruler, and dragging the tab/indent to where you want it.

Hi!

I have a problem with MS Word 2007. In many of my documents I use both bullets and numbering in different lists. Sometimes when I open these doucments I see that since my last opening of the document word has automatically converted a lot of the bullets into numbering. I don't know if it has anything to say but these documents are very large (about 400 pages).

For example, if my original document looks like this:

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
1) aaaaaaa
2) aaaaaaa
3) aaaaaaa

yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
- bbbbbbbb
- bbbbbbbb
- bbbbbbbb

...it will open up looking like this:

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
1) aaaaaaa
2) aaaaaaa
3) aaaaaaa

yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
4) bbbbbbbb
5) bbbbbbbb
6) bbbbbbbb

Been searching the net for a solution but can't find it anywhere. It is possible to convert the numbered list back to bullets of course, but since my documents are so large, it would take forever, and the problem keeps repeating once I correct it.

Anyone has any clue as to what is going on???

A:Word 2007 error: automatically converts bullets to numbering

What file format are you saving in?
Does it only do it one machine?
Have you tried logging into the same machine as a different user?
Your Word preferences may be corrupted for that user. Creating a new user and testing it will cause Word to create new preferences from defaults.

Further than that, uninstalling Office and rebooting, and then manually removing any remaining Office registry keys, followed by reinstalling Office may resolve the issue.

You can also edit your AutoCorrect and AutoFormat settings. I personally disable all autocorrect and autoformat features as i find them more annoying than helpful.

Word
Office 2007

I have been creating 2 seperate documents with 2 sets of exact styles. We post one of the documents to the Web (so it is a posting template) and the other is one that we utlitize for internal. Because of this we have created 2 template with exact styles except that in the template we created for internal, the styles are slightly different.

Example:
I'll call the first style 1_Body.
Posting template: 4pt space after (equivelant to a solid return online [our vendor for our Web platform developed this])
Internal template: same style has 12 pt space after (equilant to a solid return)

When the text from the posting template is placed into the internal template it automatically switches (eg, use destination styles) to the internal template (12pt space after). The problem is that it doesn't work as well for bullets.

With bullets what normally happens is any attributes associated with the posting template don't translate over the our internal template. It basically will change everything else to the internal template styles except for the bullets.

Does anyone know of a way to remedy this? From what I have found, the best that I can do is reapply the styles after I have pasted the text in for the bullets. Not sure why this isn't a smooth translation. A problem for this is that I'm not the end user when the templates are finished. Thoughts?

A:Word 2007 "Use Destination Styles" problems with bullets

Are you actually using a style for your bullets or are you just clicking the bullet button? Make SURE you're using a style.

Hi,
Don't mind the curious ones, but I'm one of them. So anyway, almost one year ago now, the Word macro virus W97M/Marker.C was running rampant around Gordon College, with many teachers and students alike being infected. I was even infected with it thanks to one of my professors posting an assignment description document that had it. I was running AVG 9.0 at the time, and it was flagged many a time over. I think there were like six or so instances. My memory may be flaky, as my laptop has undergone many reformats since then, but what I do remember is trying to ignore AVG's warning, due to the fact that AVG has given me many false positives when I used it. The message Word gave me was that the document couldn't be opened because it wasn't available. But the strange part of that is that AVG had not removed anything from the file. I can think of two reasons why the file wouldn't run with the virus in it. Tell me which, if either, is correct. One is that Microsoft has since changed the macro format from 2003 and earlier versions of Word simply due to the many viruses that once existed for it, or two, that message was a very convoluted way of telling me that Windows 7 no longer supports Virtual device Drivers (*.vxd) as I was able to open the file after it had been cleaned up by Eset NOD32. Any knowledge you folks have would be very interesting, as I have always been curious about the very odd weekend of February 12, 2010. Now don't get me ... Read more

A:random curiosity about MS Word macro viruses and why (thank the Lord), they don't work in Word 2007/2010

I don't know the particulars of the macro virus you mention, but with Microsoft Office 2003, a significant change was implemented that effectively stopped the propagation of macro viruses.

Prior to Office 2003, macros were enabled by default, and opening a document with macros and auto-execute meant the macros were automatically executed (and thus the virus could infect and propagate).

With Office 2003, macro security was introduced. With a Microsoft Office 2003 default install, macros need to be signed with a certificate issued by a trusted root CA. Macros that are not signed will not be executed. Users have to explicitly lower the macro security level for unsigned macros to execute. Almost all macro viruses were unsigned.

At my work we have templates from Word 2003.

When we open them in Word 2007 they doesn´t work as they should.

We have for example a menu like

2 Electronics
2.1 Phones
2.1.1 Mobile phones

When you make an uppdate on the menu the sub-numbers disapear so it is
2 Electronics
Phones
Mobile phones

Also in 2003 you get a menu to the right where you can change in the list not only the types but also the numbering. Is there something like that in 2007?

A:Making Word 2003 templates work in word 2007

A couple of things.

Firstly here is an interactive guide for some of the features in 2003 - 2007. It is useful in some circumstances
http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/word/HA100744321033.aspx

In regards to using 2003 templates for 2007 - i noticed that not all things worked in the same way in 2007 especially when it came to printing (things would display differently to how they would print)

I work for a big company and i had to redesign alot of templates. Sorry.

In regards to changing the numbering, you now right click on one of the actual numbers within the document and you can change the numbering from there.

Hope that all makes sense.

The bullet in Office 2007 (Word) is significantly smaller then it was in prior versions. When I hit the Alt plus the keyboard 7 I'd get a bullet symbol--I still get that but its much smaller. I want my big bullet back. Is there a way to reassign that or change it or some other character?

A:Word 2007 alt-7 bullet is smaller--how do you make it bigger?

The bullet size is related to the font size in use. I have not got Word 2003 to verify, but it looks OK in 2007 here.

i think work 2007 and vista 64-bit are conflicting each other. When i close word 2007, things are back to your system should perform.
Microsoft need to fix this!!

A:Word 2007 make Vista 64-bit run extreamly slow

Mong,
I have been having the same problem. My problem is because of the EndNote X1 add-in. The people from EndNote indicate that, since it is a 32-bit program, it will cause strange behaviors with Word 2007 in a 64-bit OS. I had to completely disable the add-in to get Word to run smoothly in Vista Home Premium 64-bit.

Kind of disappointing as the Cite-While-You-Write feature is one of the best things about the program! Either I lose that ability and have a 'smooth experience', or I keep it enabled and get the perk from the program.

So, your problem, while perhaps not related to EndNote (you might not have it), could be related to an add-in for a program not designed for a 64-bit OS.

My suggestion is to disables your add-ins one at a time to see which one is causing the lag.

I hope that helps.

I have a user with a PP presentation that shows Asian characters for the bullets. I changed them using the Bullets and Numbering menu.

However, we kept two copies of the PP presentation (this is a default company profile PP template)...and when the presentation is viewed under XP the Asian characters appear as normal bullets...but under Windows 7x64 they remain Asian.

Has anyone seen this before? Is there something we may have done in the original template that is making it different under each OS?

A:Office 2007 Bullets Showing as Asian Characters in Win 7 only

Time to become a detective! Likely you have a combination of conditions that result as you posted.

First, look at the templates, both Word and PP, to see what character set is used for the bullet style in question.

Next, check all workstations to see if they have the character set installed (you can bet they don't).

If not installed, check to see what set is used to substituted for the missing character set.

My guess is you will find the problem this way.

Open up a document with these characters. Go to Format, Bullets and Shading. On the Bulleted tab, one of your choices should be selected (probably the first one - looks like a filled in black dot). Click on Customize, then Font. I will guess that it shows your font to be Webdings - and shows a clockface in the preview panel. Change the font to Symbol.

I believe Microsoft refers to this as "duplex printing" which can be done automatically if your printer supports that feature, or if not it can be done manually. There's a "Manual duplex" option check-box in the "Print" dialogue-box in Word 2007. More information here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/w...of-the-paper-duplex-printing-HP001154387.aspx

Check in the formatting of your footer. Is the 1 on a section page number counter? Or is it a set digit? The beginning of chapter two should have a section break (new page) via the Page Layout Tab, in the Page Layout Group. Chapter Three should be the same way. Then, in the footer of Chapter 2, add 2 Head and Footer Tab>Insert Page Number, not linked to the section above. The numbers should be in the correct increasing order now.

Any ideas what this could be?

Also just noticed that under Word options, I can't select display, proofing, saved etc..

Well i hope someone can help me. I have noticed that any program in Windows 7 can be max. by clicking on the title bar and dragging it to the top of the screen and dropping. To restore the window to the last state just click the title bar and pull it off the top of the screen.

Now to my problem. This works great with EVERYTHINIG except MS Word 2007. No problems with Excel, Outlook or anything else. Just word. Please if you have any ideas this would be great. This is annoying.

I installed the trial of MS Office 2007 and Excel works but I can't get Word to work. I click on an old XP word document and say "open with" and do a browse and go to winword.exe in Office12 which is under the program files of (x86) and it does not make the connection but I can open up a New Word document in 2007 then go to open and then I can open up any old word document. I just can't make all my XP documents hook into Word 2007. Any suggestion what I might try?

A:Microsoft Word 2007

Try not browsing to the winword.exe, you are offered different programs in the "open with" dialog page. Just scroll down and choose "word". if it works then open again and choose "Always open with word option".

I am trying to save an email that was sent to me in Word 2007 but am not familiar with 2007. Dumb question but how can I save to my documents? Also, when I open Word the screen "displays graph" paper and as I enter info it is difficult to read on the graph paper. Thanks in advance.

A:Microsoft Word 2007??

Do you mean the attachment is in the Word 2007 format?
Do you have any version of Word installed?
What program are you opening the document in?
The method for saving an attachment depends on what program you're using to check e-mail.

Hello all!

We've been having some problems with Word here in the office, and this forum is our last hope!

When opening a file that contains bullet points, one of our computers insists on displaying those little empty upright rectangles that you often see if your system is trying to display Chinese characters it can't read. But these are standard Word bullets, not any special shapes. It is also impossible to highlight them, for example, and get them to change to normal bullets. And it isn't all the bullets, only some of them, although we haven't been able to discern a pattern.

When this file is then sent to another computer, it also displays the rectangles. Sometimes. Sometimes not. It's all very mysterious.

Please help the clueless! We want to print the file, but do not want rectangles in it!

ETA: I have some more info on when the rectangles occur. They also occur instead of the greater-than-or-equals-to symbol and the degree symbol. When you delete the rectangle and type in the unicode key combo for the symbol, however, it displays perfectly.

I was wondering if this was possible.

My mom wants me to write a template for school lesson plans. Each plan has several revisions, and each revision has several activity sets. For example, Lesson 1 might include Lesson Plans 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3. Lesson 1.1 might include activity sets A, B, C, D, and E.

She would like each activity set to exist in its own document, and at one point in the document she wants the activities listed ordinally while referencing the activity set, if that makes sense. In other words, she wants the activities listed 1a, 2a, 3a, 4a; 1b, 2b, 3b, 4b; 1c...etc., with each set being in a separate document.

I don't like the setup and I think she's duplicating information, but that's the way she says it has to be. Anyway.

Adding that letter to the bullets isn't difficult to do manually, but she's pretty computer illiterate so I need a way to do it automatically. I thought the easiest thing would be to use a FILLIN field to SET a bookmark, and REF the bookmark in the numbered bullet. I don't know if it's possible to insert a field into a list's ordination, though. Any ideas?

I have a couple other things I could try if I can't find a simpler solution. For example, I thought I might use a FILLIN field to grab the activity set, then use a macro to format the bullet style of the list in question.

Anyway, just thought I'd toss that out there, if anyone has any suggestions I'd be grateful.

Thanks,

chris.... Read more

Is there any way to keep it from deleting those numbers? I am assuming it thinks that the first number on that line is part of a numbered list, but its not and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to make it stop!!!!!

She wants the user to be able to fill out the form then be able to insert a blank copy of the same form (repeat page 2) at the end of the document. They want this for user who has to create mulitple polilcies.

I can't figure out how it can be done in the template which is attached in the zip file. Could possibly be done in Acrobat but not sure. Any ideas?

I can't explain how it happened, but i had a frozen microsoft word screen.I had to shut it down thru task manager, and when i shut down the computer (windowsxp) i had to turn the power to do so.

when i turned it back on and attempted to open word, a window keeps popping up telling me tht word couldnt recover a document (which wasn't being used anyway) when i click OK, i get a message for another file, and another... hundreds or thousands of them. after seemingly going thru all my doc documents, it has moved on to wbk.

So microsoft word is nonfunctional, and i can't tell if I have lost all my documents.

Hello,

With my Windows 7 Home Premium I use Microsoft Word Starter 2010, which came preloaded to my laptop. I save much information in it's standard 'document' page. When I click on a saved document, after about 5 seconds it displays the small window "Microsoft Word Starter 2010" and goes through some process, telling me it is 'starting', 'processing' and takes a further 10 to 20 seconds for the actual document to open. This happens even when opening a blank document. Is there any way that I can speed up the opening of a document.

Is there a way to tell Microsoft Word to "guess" what I mean every time I make a typo? For example, I type "tsanding," and instead of changing it to "standing," it underlines it red. I know I can then right-click it, and select AutoCorrect > standing, so that, from now on, if the same exact typo arises in the future, in which I accidentally type "tsanding," it'll change it to "standing." I've thus far collected *hundreds* of specific typo corrections in this way. But that's very time-consuming, and is only a weak attempt at preventing typos I may be likely to make in the future (based on the fact that I made the exact typo at least once before). Is there any way to establish that I want Microsoft Word to go ahead and correct every single "underlined red" occurrence from now on, based on its best guess as to what I meant? (except in cases where the typo was so bad that it has no guess at all) That way, when it corrects something I *didn't* want corrected, I can then go back and add what I wanted to its dictionary, to tell it not to consider that word an accident from then on.

A:Is there a way to tell Microsoft Word to "guess" what I mean every time I make a typo?

Found this in the Word Help files. On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options. In the Replace box, type a word or phrase that you often mistype or misspell ? for example, type usualy. In the With box, type the correct spelling of the word ? for example, type usually. Click Add. Is this what you're talking about?

Hello,

I'm having a formatting issue with Word 2007.

The problem I am having is that the document is not holding the format when I reopen it or when I add blocks of text. The main problem comes in the reference sections of the document where tabbed indents are lost and spaces appear randomly between words. This causes the text to move throughout the document.

Very frustrating. Thanks so much for any and all suggestions.

A:Microsoft Word 2007 Problem

When you add blocks of text, before inserting, format it to the document format you already have. Another choice is in "Advanced" choose it as a Cut/Copy/Paste option. For the reopening problem, "Register" the title of the document choosing Formatted Text in the Auto Correct screen.

Hi.

I installed Microsoft Word '07 on to my HP laptop about a year ago. Come to think of it, maybe exactly a year. I got it off of a legit CD that was bought at a computer store. It's a real, non-trial Office '07. A few days ago I tried to open a document, and a message came up saying-
"Preparing to Install"
That's funny. So I decided to let it do it's thing and install whatever it needed to install. Then this came up-
"This update package could not be opened. Verify that the update package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer update package."
Now whenever I try to open a Word doc that message comes up. I don't know what to do and I am pretty concerned. I bought the product! I don't want to buy another one!

Know what I mean?

If anyone knows what I can do to help this problem, I would really appreciate it. Thanks, RexRaxer

So, back to Word 2007.

For some reason, the "Find" button, located in Home>> Editing, is grayed.

When I click the "Find button, two options show up, and the first of them is grayed and I can't select it:

"Find..."
"Go To..."Click to expand...

Why is it grayed?
I just want to find a few words, and I don't understand why such simple action is not possible.

When I got this XP desktop tower (used) I installed Microsoft Office Professional 2007 from my discs (with product key). I was typing an article for a newspaper in Word last night, and suddenly I could no longer type. It said "offline" down below the word document in the lower right corner. I clicked on help and a red error message stated that I was not connected. I saved what I had typed and shut down the doc. I went online and tried typing my addy and password in my AT&T email program and my keyboard wouldn't work!

I checked the plug-in on back of tower and it was fine plus the keyboard was lit. I shut down the pc. This morning I can type again but wish to know what went wrong with Word 2007 and how to fix it. Microsoft Diagnostics Tool came up and ran tests. Could not ping my stmp or inbound and outbound mail. Is this some problem with Outlook? I never used it. I went to the Microsoft Office website and searched everything to find a solution and alot of the articles were for changing template, registry, etc. I don't want to do the wrong thing.

I have IE8 and it takes me to my AT&T homepage from desktop.

I recently got a new computer which has Microsoft Office 2007.  I don't know how to use Microsoft Word 2007, so I installed Word 2002 on this computer.  The problem is, if I try to open a document with Word, the computer automatically wants to use 2007 unless I manually open 2002 first.  I have even tried removing Word 2007 from Office 2007 without removing the other features of Office, but when I try to open a document in Word I get a prompt to configure Word 2007, again unless I manually open 2002 before opening the document.  Can I fix this?  I haven't used the other Office programs yet, but I really don't want to remove them.

When I opened Word documents, I would receive the message, "There was a problem sending the command to the program." I tried changing the compatibility for the program to Vista Service Pack Two and then Vista Service Pack One. In both cases, that fix worked only for the document that I opened immediately after changing the compatibility. I uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft Office 2007, but the same message appeared when I opened document. Using regedit, I deleted the ddeexec key from HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Word.Document.12\shell\Open\ddeexec without exporting the key first. Afterwards, the application would open without the message appearing, but the document would not open. Finally, using Notepad, I created a registry file using the information from http://www.dilloway.co.uk/reg/del-ddeexec.reg and merged the file into the registry. There was no change from the previous fix.

How can I fix the problem? Preferably, I would like a solution that does not involve uninstalling and reinstalling Microsoft Office 2007 as I do not have a disc of the program and therefore must spend time and data downloading the program from the Internet before reinstalling.

Thank you for any help that can be provided.

I think you mean .doc document, not doc. document, right?

Are you opening it from Explorer, or from within Word?

Have you tried opening another .doc file?

Try creating a new document, save it as .doc, close it, and open it again.
Report if that works.

Hey all,

I'm running windows Vista, and recently picked up Microsoft Office 2007. I've been having some seriously annoying problems with Word, including the relatively common "Running virus scan..." problem. I've found several solutions to this problem, all fixed by changing options in various virus programs. Problem is, I'm not running any virus programs besides the ones that Vista comes pre-installed with (probably not a great idea). Point is, I don't know why I'm getting this problem without virus software installed. It also freezes for 10-15 minutes upon selecting certain options... It seems random which ones, but it has never happened with any of the basic ones, just when I click stuff like the "references" tab and stuff.

Anyhoo, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Hello tagore.

9 crashes last day. Out of them, 6 are STOP 0x00000050: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (Usual causes: Defective hardware (particularly memory - but not just RAM), Faulty system service, Antivirus, Device driver, NTFS corruption, BIOS) and 3 are STOP 0x00000019: BAD_POOL_HEADER (Usual causes: Device driver).

In this situation, my suggestion for you would be

Scan the system for possible virus infection.
Anti-rootkit utility TDSSKiller
Windows Defender Offline
Test your RAM modules for possible errors. Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Uninstall Avira using Avira AntiVir Removal Tool. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.

Run chkdsk /f/r, following the option two of the tutorial Disk Check

If, after doing all these the crashes continue to occur, enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.
Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

When I exit MS Office 2007 Word a pane appears that says "Word has stopped working and will search for a solution" (which is never found) followed by "Word is re-starting." After the re-start, I'm able to exit Word without further messages or difficulty. This is more of a nuisance than anything else but I have the impression that the program (at least the version I have) may be somewhat unstable.

I've looked for a solution on the MS Support Web site to no avail and wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience with this program.

My O/S is Vista Home Premium; the MS Office 2007 is the Student and Teacher Edition; my computer is an HP Pavilion a6345f.

I have assigned a keyboard shortcut to Microsoft Word 2007. When I press those keys, Microsoft Word 2007 takes a while to open. If I close the program and press those same shortcut keys, Word opens up instantly. However, if I don't open word again for several minutes it takes some time to open just as it did when I first opened it. I haven't timed it to see at what point this occurs, but I did notice it after 20 minutes or so.

I am assuming that something stays in memory / running for a while (and this is independent of the fact that I already have multiple documents already open), which is why Word opens up again instantly. It is indeed instant and I am very happy with that speed, but I want it to happen every single time.

Does anyone have any ideas on how this can be done?

Note: This is being done on a Windows 8 Computer.

I currently am setting up 4 new PCs for my workplace. They are runnin Windows 7 Pro 32 bit. I am having issues with MS Office 07. 2 of the PCs run all of the office programs fine. The other 2 will not open word or powerpoint. They just crash on startup. Both these computers are on a domain and the domain user has Admin privileges, however it still does not launch. When I log directly into the administrator account it does launch but if I go back to the domain user (with admin permissions) it fails to launch. I have read tons of forums and tried everything from the reinstalling, repairing, deleting the registry, deleting the normal.dot, running some registry commands and still nothing. I am out of ideas and curious as to why it would work fine on 2 of the PCs but not the other 2. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know there is plenty of info out there on this issue, but I have tried everything I can find and still no success.

Whenever I try to add or view comments in Word 2007, there is a rather annoying jumble of characters where the name and comment number should be. I have viewed commented documents on other computers running Word 2007, and the comments aren't jumbled. It feels like some kind of font setting has been screwed up somewhere, but I have no idea how to change it back.

I've attached a JPG of the problem.

Thanks in advance!

I have already downloaded microsofts free convert/export PDF/XPS and it works well but when i type out a document and try to save as in Rich Text Format there is no facility to do this that i know of. As i am new to Office 2007 i may have overlooked a command somewhere in the ribbon. Does anyone know if Rich Text Format is part of Office 2007 or failing that does anyone know of a solution?.The tutorials on microsofts website do not make any mention of Rich Text Format in any variation of their Office Suites or individual programs eg, word, excel, publisher or the rest . I would appreciate any help and or advice.Moderator Edit: Moved topic to more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

A:Microsoft Office 2007 Specifically Word

It does support Rich Text Format. In word click on the "globe" in the top upper left corner and click on "save as" and then "other formats"]Word help[/url]

This is a question about the search functions within Microsoft Office Word 2007 and Excel 2007. I want to be able to do searches that would yield both "e" and "é" in the results of a single search. Right now all I can do is two separate searches. This may mean setting up a way to ignore accent marks, or a way of defining "e" as "e or é" for the search process. My operating system is Windows Vista. Thanks for your help.

A:Solved: Microsoft Word 2007 Problem

If you want to start a new page in Word, you need to put a hard "Page Break" and now you will be at the top of the next page.

A page Break can be entered by using the key combination "Ctrl-Enter", this break will start at where your cursor is.

Question, how are you getting to the second page when you try starting a second page?

A:Hierarchial Charts for Microsoft Word 2007

To edit Hierarchial Chart in Microsoft Word 2007 you need to highlight chart first. If no edit Text window on the right of it appeared, click two arrows on the left border of chart. In that left edit window there are all items of your chart, but in one column with different indents.

You can click one item, press ENTER to create a new item, if it's level is to high, press TAB.
