Internet based shared calendar, ideally on Google, like a public folde

Q: Internet based shared calendar, ideally on Google, like a public folde

Anyone know how I can recreate something like this but on an internet calendar service (google is highly preferable)
http://i.imgur.com/AV8Xy.jpg
Likely to be switching to Google Apps (free, not paid) soon as IMAP appears to be sufficient for this small business needs.
However users would lose access to the Exchange based Calendar which is shared for multiple users.
I see that within the Google / Gmail calendar interface http://calendar.google.com/ it allows you to access other users calendars on the same domain, however this is google / web based and not inside their Outlook client. I could make a generic mailbox called "Public Calendar" ([email protected]) I'm fine with that but I do not know how to manually open that from within Outlook 2010.
Has anyone dealt with something similar to this before? It seems to me that Outlook 2010 appears to only support ICAL based public calendars, is this the only / best solutions?
Thoughts from the experts would be appreciated. Want this for about 35 users world wide in the long run.
Thank you.

To my knowledge because calendars are created via a mailbox in an exchange enviornment a seperate mailbox would need to be created and shared to all people needing the group calendar.

Or if a person would like to share their own they can choose the people they would want to have access to their calenders.

Is there another way to only create a calendar public?

Hi

I added my Google account to the Windows 10 Mail and Calendar app, but I can only view some of my Google Calendars (my personal and a few others) BUT none of the calendars under the "other calendars" category on Google Calendars are populating/syncing and showing up on my Windows 10 Mail and Calendar app...

Even though ALL of my Google shared and main calendars show up when I have synced it with my Android phones etc for years now.

I was just trying to see what I may have missed since I've researched and read countless pages of blogs about syncing Google Calendars with Windows 10 Mail and Calendar and haven't run into many people with this same issue.

Also, on my Android Samsung Galaxy S4, I'm able to view on my phone calendar app, ALL entries dating back to 2010 when I first used Google Calendar, but on Windows 10 Mail and Calendar...it only shows entries from this current month of September (when I added my Google account to Windows 10 Mail and Calendar) and the future...

Only recurring weekly/monthly etc entries show up for the previous months on Windows 10 Mail and Calendar...??

Is anyone else having this issue or is there a setting I'm overlooking so that I can have access to all the entries from Google Calendar onto my Windows 10 Mail and Calendar?

And lastly--besides using Cortana, is there a search button I am missing on the Windows 10 Mail and Calendar app, since I can't understand how a calendar app would not allow you to search thru it easily... Read more

Re: Outlook 2003
Is there is a way to designate a Shared Outlook Calendar (that is used as our company-wide calendar) as an individual's default calendar. We are set up with a Microsoft XP Exchange Server.
The goal is to have the company-wide calendar download to a Blackberry Curve as the user's default calendar. Right now he sees his own calendar which he does not need. We have the Blackberry Desktop Manager installed on his network computer.
Thank you.

As an addendum, it would be preferable that the Outlook/Blackberry user not be able to modify the office-wide Shared Calendar (should there be a way for him to see it) so that all changes still go through our calendar maven. Thank you.

Outlook 2007 running under Exchange server. We have a shared calendar used by all employees to show when they will be out of the office... vacations, part time, etc.

We also have Resource Mailboxes in Exchange so that when you click on the "Rooms" button when setting up an appointment, you can see the room schedule, then add your appointment to the room by inviting the room as an attendee.

The boss wants to do something similar with the shared calendar. When she puts an appointment on her private calendar that will take her out of the office, she wants to be able to press the equivalent of the "Rooms" button and have that appointment be automatically copied to the shared calendar so that everyone can see that she will be out of the office.

I've been trying to do a web search but unfortunately the search terms I have been using keeps telling me how to set up calendars, not how to pull off this trick.

Information greatly appreciated. TIA.

Hi at work we use a public calendar in Outlook 2010 that is used to book the conference room. Today multiple users (XP and Win 7) are getting this error when they try to book the conference room.

The operation failed. The messaging interfaces have returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook.

Restarting Outlook has not helped. So far this is only happening in the public calendar. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a user who is the only one having a problem with this calendar. There is a calendar setup in Public Folders and 20 or 30 user's have access to it. When she accesses it using the Outlook 2000 client all of the appt's and stuff are srewed up. When she accesses it using OWA everything is fine. Just for fun I logged into my PC as her and setup her profile and the problem in the client persisted. I was surprised as I thought it was a problem on her computer. It doesn't look that way at all now. I was thinking of renaming her local Windows 2K user profile and than logging off and logging back on as her so that a new local Windows 2K user profile would be created on that machine. I would than create her Outlook profile again and see what happens. Any other ideas? Again, she is the only user having this problem. The calendar is fine on everyone else's computer. Thanks for your help.

My folder "public documents" is just to share with administrators and the owner. It is not possible to add ?everyone?. If I try to add ?Everyone? a window opens: The folder can not be shared. That's the problem!
For all other folders in the directory ?Public? it is possible to give full access for administrators, owners and everyone.
Accordingly, the folder "Public Documents" is shown in on the own computer but not on other computers in the network.
What is the reason an what have I to do, to share the folder ?Documents? = Public Documents? with full access to Everyone?
Thank you for explanations and advices how I can solve the problem.

A:Public Documents can not be shared

Try this, open the Network and Sharing Center and then go to Advanced sharing options. Under Public Folder Sharing select "Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can read and write files in Public folders".

I have an Exchange 2003 server to which I need to provide some highly mobile users real-time access (or nearly, within 5 minutes) to the public folder calendars.

OMA appears to have no functionality for accessing the public folders via its interface (I've checked from within IE).

But.. are there any devices out there which can survive standard OWA? Or perhaps just the public folder interface?

Or does anyone know of a mobile device that can be auto-synched (or active synched) to a public folder calendar?

Any suggestions? I've tried googling, but any terms that would match this provides useless garbage and hosting services advertising their capabilities..

(Note: Mobile device does NOT mean a phone necissarily.. RIM blackberrys, palms, et al. are preferred over phone units.)

Thanks in advance.

A:Mobile Access to Exchange based public folders?

Same Problem but Workaround Available

I'm using OMA (Outlook Mobile Access) for Exchange Server 2003 with Nokia 3650 Smart Phones (Symbian OS) and I have scoured the web for a solution that allows access to PUBLIC FOLDERS through OMA instead of OWA (I think Outlook Web Access would be too slow for unsupported celluar phones (cell phones with out EAS (Exchange Active Sync) compatability.

I find it very difficult to believe that Microsoft would invest all this development into OMA and it can't even access PUBLIC FOLDERS!! That make's OMA pretty useless since my original idea was to have road warriors out in the field accessing the companies public folder data such as contacts, schedules and tasks realtime.

What a bummer! Have you found a work around??? No where have I read that it can NOT be done. Can you confirm this??? Please let me know. I would be greatful!!!...

Hi there,

I have a question and am not really sure where to post it.

I work for a company who has a TV in the lobby area, they would like to have calendar events and other things show up as a part of the displaying features. Right now I am currently using just a PDF with a ton of photos running on a cycle.

Ideally they want to have photos of their work being displayed but also other items. Does anyone know if there are apps/OS/anything that has features that would work in this way?

Thank you!

We use Outlook 2010 with Exchange 2010.
There is a calendar in the public folders. Several People have the permission as "author" for this public Folder calendar.

One of the "authors" creates an appointment with a reminder in his own calendar.
Then he copies this appointment with the reminder to the calendar of the public folder.

A public Folder itself does not Support a reminder in the calendar. But if you copy an appointment with a reminder from your own Outlook calendar to the calendar in the public Folder, then a reminder in a calendar of a public Folder is supported.

The result is: Every other "author" gets this reminder popping up in his own Outlook calendar.

The question is: How to prevent the reminders popping up in the outlook of the other "authors"?

Hello,

I've just taken over a "network" of around 30 computers. The previous admin had not setup an actual manage network. No domain controllers, no file servers etc. Everyone is just plugged into a large switch and connected via WORKGROUP.

I've never actually used the Workgroup so I'm having a little trouble. Some of our most crucial files are shared off of one persons computer (Windows 10). The files are in C:\Users\Public\Documents
The Public folder itself is hidden.

6 Windows 7 users have a shortcut to this folder on their desktop. The shortcut points to "\\Windows10PC\Users\Public\Shared Folder"
Sometimes when accessing this folder they are prompted for credentials. They must use the credentials of the local user of the Win 10 PC.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Whenver I try to create this shortcut from another desktop I keep receiving "File cannot be found".
If I try to to explore the C$ drive of the the Win 10 PC I cannot gain access dues "Access denied" even though I'm using the local users credentials.

I've tried many different combinations using $ to access the shared folder but to no luck.

So what I've ended up doing is copying the shortcut from another computer (which is setup exactly the way I tried setting it up). When I paste the shortcut it works just find, yet I cannot create a shortuct pointing to the same location.

I have a user that is attempting to book a meeting on a calendar located inside of a public folder with herself as the only participant. She does this by going to the calendar, creating the meeting directly on it, and adding herself as a participant. The reply from calendar goes straight to her deleted items and does not show up on her personal calendar. The replay says that since she is the organizer no response is needed. Moving the reply into her inbox does not help since there is no button to add the meeting to her calendar. She can successfully book meetings this way on other users calendar. Using another account I am able to book meetings on this calendar without any problem. There are no rules or junk email protection turned on. I have turned calendar auto replay on and off, rebuilt the Outlook profile, turned caching on and off, installed all updates for Outlook 2010, gave her owner access to the calendar, and tried creating the meetings both by viewing the calendar through public folders and through shared calendars.

I know Public Folder's can be buggy but I can't figure out why only one user is having this issue. Anyone have any ideas?

What a great site!

I'm using Windows XP 2002 and Outlook 2003

I have already set up my shared calendar and everything seems to be working. I've given people author access with myself as the owner.

Is there a way to tell who has posted what though? I would rather not have to go around asking everybody each time something new appears on the calendar.

Thanks!

A:Shared Calendar

Once you share the calendar to other 'authors' its shared. A common way is to share the calendar for 'read access'. Others look at the calendar and find an approiate time, then send you meeting notices and you accept them. You can have designates for this. Then the meeting post into the calendar with an organizer (who sent the meeting notice) and you can add additional notes as needed.

This 'public calendar' you have created cannot be managed except by an agreed upon policy. i.e. If you post to my calendar please put your name in it.

Hello all,

This is my first post here but have checked for help numerous times. I have been stumped with something and I've not been able to find an answer so please help or offer suggestions if possible.

The company i work for uses an Exchange server and office 2003. There is no issues witht he way it works. However we have started rolling some users up to 2007 on some test virtual systems.

What is happening in that on the 2007 system, old shared calendars - which have since been removed on 2003 - are appearing in the list of calendars on 2007. Now we are talking the shared calendars of users who have left more than 2 years ago.

So what i am hoping to find is a way to prevent this from happening. I presume that Outlook 2003 is caching the shared calendar information to the profile somehow on the Exhange server. However 2003 does not show these old calendars.

Would anyone have an idea how to turn this feature off, or where it can be removed from the server side so that the new systems with 07 wouldn't pick this information up from the users profiles?

::EDIT::
I will add I believe the accounts came originally from Outlook 2000 then to 2003 and now to 2007. The one users we are testign this with currently is working on onlie mode rather than cached, and has not brough over anything such as a PST file.

Many thanks for your time,

Chris.

How are user's assigned permissions to view a calendar? If one group is having problems, it sounds like the NT/AD group to which they belong was not given permissions.

Hi Everyone,

I need some help with a shared calendar. I have created four calendars for our office all of them for booking meeting rooms. Three of the four work just fine but the fourth is being a pain.
I'm running Exchange 2010 and all our clients are running Outlook 2007. I have re-created the meeting room a couple of times just to make sure I hadn't missed anything.
When I, or another staff memeber tries to use the "Open a Shared Calendar" we get the below error.

Any ideas why I'm getting this error?

I have another thread here, but I titled it Excel instead of Outlook and wasn't real clear, apparently, on what help I need, so I'm starting anew ...

My boss has outlook 2002, I have 2003. His computer is the same computer that my last boss had, so I would think it would work the same.

My Outlook 2003 calendar is shared throughout the company as our warehouse delivery schedule. Anyone can pull it up, and my boss should be able to also make any edits/deletions, etc. My old boss had "Warehouse Calendar" on his shortcut bar that is to the left of the calendar. All he had to do was click on it and my calendar would pop up so that he could see what was scheduled for delivery that day, and he could make changes/additions/deletions, as needed.

I've added my new boss as an editor on my shared calendar (modified the permissions). He has done the File|Open|Other User's Folder|typed my name and the calendar showed up like it is supposed to do. However, we can't figure out how to get it to "stick", so that he does not have to File|Open|Other Users Folder, type my name every time he needs to look at the calendar. I can't figure out how to get my calendar shortcut on his shortcut pane (to the left of the calendar).

Also, when he does have my calendar pulled up, he should be able to add/delete/edit appointments. He can make/add/delete my calendar on his computer, but those changes/additions/deletions do not appear on my calendar. Any ... Read more

Hi All -

I have a problem with OL2K3 and a users shared calendars disappearing.

I have shared these with several users with no issues at all except for one person (userB) out of the group will occasionally lose access to these calendars. Greetings,

I currently have a 2003 SBS running Exchange SP1 and also running things such as domain, DNS, DHCP etc.

I have 2 domain on the network (other domain is run by an old NT box)

I have a mixed environment with end users working with Outlook 2003, 2007 and 2010.
I created a new user named [email protected]

I logged into this address using office 2010 and created a calendar. Once I did that I shared it with around 20 other users on my network. Then I went into the sharing properties and gave everyone full access to the calendar.

Once this I heard back from all users on Outlook 2003 that they could not open the calendar. I directed them to go to File->Open other folder-> then the calender info.

It worked great.

Now for the 2010 users. I was able to add myself without the slightest issue. My coworker beside me also running 2010 could not open the calendar. The "Open" button is greyed out.The invite email looks fine otherwise.

I then checked with our other 3 Outlook 2010 users and they all had the same issue/ they receive the calendar fine, but cannot open it.

First thing I did was check that with issues were not in "offline" mode. they were all online.

Next I checked was their permissions again, and even removed all the 2010 users from the list, resent the calendar share request, and then gave the full permissions. still not able to open calendar in the email sent to them.

Then I tried File->options->mail->->sensitivi... Read more

note I also just realized that "Open other peoples folder" from the file menu in outlook 2010 is also greyed out. Im pretty sure these issues are related... Outlook does not say that the user is disconnected from Exchange, and I can manually connect/disconnect with no change.

A:Setup shared outbox and calendar

Shared Calendars are normal and each user imports calendars from correspondants.

Shared Email (in or out bound) is a BAD idea and not sure that's possible.
Obvious issue is no way to tell which user is working on what email and thus
multiple users start corresponding with the same email client -- massively confusing

If you need a consolidated Contact Manager, look at Goldmine.

There is one user in our office whose calendar I and others are just unable to see. All that shows is a recurring daily appointment, despite her having several daily appointments. Have checked the delegate permissions and the permissions of all who the calendar is shared with but no-one can see her calendar items. This one user is able to see my and my colleagues calendars with no problem.
As stated - all permissions have been checked and are ok.
I am stuck as to what to try next. Please can anyone help?

Hi all,

I have run into a problem where one guy is sharing his outlook 2003 calendar with his secretary, suddenly he is not able to open or edit anything in the calendar, but the secretary is able to do everything! He is only able to see an overview of calendar (month, week, day) with the titles only but unable to open, edit, move or delete an item in specific. I checked the permissions and it has 2 options

Default: Owner
"secretary name" Edit

I even checked the secretary's calendar but couldn't figure out something she might have done to cause this to happen.

What could possibly cause that to happen?

Just wondering if any experienced the following and if they found a fix.

I have a client who's had inadvertently added a user to share her Outlook 2007 Calendar (In an Exchange Environment). My client has since removed that user from the Permissions Properties. But, for some reason the Shared symbol still appears on her Calendar Icon.

I confirmed that there were no other user that have permissions to her Calendar. As a test I added and removed a user in having permissions to the Calendar. The Shared Symbol disappeared for a while but returned once we restarted Outlook.

Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
Where can I find the exact path arguments of an Outlook Calendar (like: "Public Folders\shared calendars\Maintenance")?
The goal is under VBA to point to a specific shared calendar name in place of the usual "GetDefaultFolder" in a sentence like:
Set olFolder = Outlook.Application.GetNamespace("MAPI").GetDefaultFolder(olFolderCalendar)

Hope I'm making some sense...

Outlook 2007 in the computer of one of the users in my company cannot view or edit a shared calendar. When I try to open the calendar it pops-up an alert that says "You do not have permission to view this calendar"

It doesn't seem to be a rights or permission issue, because when she access using her account information in another computer, she is able to view and edit the calendars. Some of the other computers have Outlook 2007 as well, so I'm wondering if there is a setting or an extra step that I need to configure in Outlook 2007 in order to access those calendars?

A:Outlook 2007 cannot view nor edit a shared calendar.

let me explain:

there r 2 users in ur company : A and B

If A wants share his calender with B then :

1: A needs to grant access to B from his outlook calender. right click on calender- share- calender permissions. Assign the desired permissions

2. Then B needs to ' open' A's calendar in his computer by : right click on 'my calendar' - add calendar - from address book.

Good Luck.

Hi All,

My users are on Outlook 2007 and we connect to an exchange server (2003). The problem we are having is that previously shared calendars are suddenly becoming unavailable. The message that pops up is:

'The set of folders cannot be opened.'

A more detailed message suggests the following:

'This error usually occurs if the OST or PST file you are using is:
> Unavailable
> Protected with file permissions.
> On a share on a server and the network is down.
> Corrupt

To correct this problem, store the OST or PST file on the local computer.

You may also want to run the scanost.exe and scanpst.exe tools to verify file integrity.'

I have tried scanning them and they are fine. When I look at the permissions they are gone. When the user re-shares the calendar it is ok again but often looses the permission after a re-boot (but not always).

Any ideas welcome...

I have very limited knowledge when it comes to Macros and VBA.

What I need is one of two possible scenarios.

1. Information from a Training Assignment PivotTable exported to a shared calendar on Outlook.
2. Information from a Training Calendar bulit as a Macro in Excel exported to a shared calendar on Outlook and the ability to update either calendar if new information becomes available.

Don't know which is best using code via VBA or using the Export/Import functions.

I need to create a shared calendar that HR maintains that has all of the holidays that they want listed. Then add that calendar to everyone?s default view? If this can't be done, what other options do I have?

I have a user who is having an issue with Outlook 2007. The device is on the work domain, which is managed using Group Policy. The drive was imaged from a master image, like every other drive in our nearly 5,000 device network. My point is, this is something localized to the user or her machine.

Anyway, the user has many shared calendars that she views all at once. When viewing them, her preferred and current view is Day/Week/Month. The problem is that she switches constantly between her calendar(s) and email. Sometimes, when she switches to email and then back to calendar (by selecting between the two on the lower left menu), the calendars suddenly change from Day/Week/Month view to All Appointments view. When she changes it back manually, she has to reselect all of the shared calendars that she was viewing. This happens multiple times a day.

I already ran a macro to lock the current view, but the issue persists. Online research got me nowhere, and upgrading to Outlook 2010 is not an option right now.

What am I missing here? She wants the Day/Week/Month view to always stay. Why would it randomly change back to All Appointments view when switching between email and calendars?

I have my Public Desktop folder set to share for everyone, so it can be accessed from other pc's on the home network. But when I move a file from my user desktop to the public desktop it suddenly adds the lock icon over it and can't be accessed from another pc, even though the public desktop still can. I have to change the permissions on the file every time, although this never used to be the case. I used to be able to move a file to the public desktop without having to manually "share" it each time.

All settings look correct: Sharing is enabled for the folder and set for full control "everyone", and public folder sharing is turned on.

Again, this just started and was working fine before. Would one of the recent security patches have changed something?

A:Files moved to shared public folder "locked"

I'm not sure how this could occur but in order for the Public folders to be shared you need to enable sharing through the Sharing tab of the main Public folder, otherwise anything placed in one of it's subfolders won't be sharable.

If the share is being moved from a folder with a lock then moving that folder to a Public folder won't remove the lock.

The main Public folder is located at the C:\Users\Public and should appear like the picture.

I am currently using a Toshiba Satellite L535 laptop that comes with built in USB 2.0 ports. From my understanding, a USB 2.0 port can provide a maximum of 2.5W Power Output (5V x 500mA) and a USB 3.0 port can provide a maximum of 4.5W Power Output (5V x 900mA). Please tell me if I have a wrong cognition.

But after connecting the hub to my current USB 2.0 port, I wonder if the ports on the hub perform ideally as an USB 3.0 port by providing a maximum of 4.5W Power Output. I chose a used brand as a keyword to search online. I conclude two choice as the followings:

Amazon.com: [10 Port usb3.0 Hub] Unitek USB 3.0 Hub 10 Port with 12v 4a Power Adapter a to B Cable Compatible with Windows Vista / Win7 (32/64-bit) and Mac Os 9.x or Latest Version: Computers & Accessories

If I prefer the gadget with more ports, is there any limit for the number? Or the less the better?

Please advise as you wish.

A:External USB 3.0 Hub ,can it behave normally or ideally?

The external drive will work at full USB 2.0 speeds regardless of laptop hub output.

As for external hubs, both are mains powered so if you want more gadgets - go for the 10 port. You are only limited by the number of ports on the hub.

Of course you are aware that you will still be limited to USB 2.0 speeds regardless of hub though?

As of now, I have 120 processes running. Is this normal for Windows 7 or in order to get ideal performance, there should be less running?

I use this computer for editing and would like to know how much more performance I can get out of it that might be held back by the unnecessary processes.

Thanks.

A:How many processes should ideally be running?

Well that depends on how much memory and CPU you have... The i77 20 is ok, and memory will be fine till you run out. The computer will be fast fast fast right till then then be horribly slow THEN you know you better shut dome programs down...

I only have 75 processes running with Normal windows, MSE, WHS connector, IE, a game open and WMP12 running. Looks like you may have a larger than normal number of things running. But just check your CPU usage and your emmory usage in the task manager, if your not close to maxing them out then your ok.

I really don't know...but common sense says if the maximum a USB 2 hub can supply is 5v @500ma then that's all it's going to power the USB 3 devices with.

You are also going to be restricted to USB2 transfer speeds.

I have seen advertised internal cards for laptops that would give you a USB3 connection; you could then add the USB 3 hub to that.

Something like this:

One area where Windows 7 is far inferior to previous versions is in Windows Backup, it's so limited compared to previous version's it's a joke.

Are there any free backup programs for Windows 7 that:
1. Can backup opened files (I leave Outlook open so I need a program that can backup the Outlook pst file while it's open)
2. Can ideally make backups of the system drive that can be restored back into a bootable system without having to first install Windows
3. Allows a specific disk to be set for the backup destination of a backup job and asks to insert that disk when the scheduled backup starts if that disk isn't inserted

If no free backup programs offer these features, what programs do offer these features?

Thanks

A:Any good and ideally free backup programs?

Back up your files

I haven't tried Win7's, but the XP version works perfectly. One client runs an incremental backup to an external 1 Tbyte HD at 3:00 a.m. every morning, and it's been running flawlessly for almost 2 years. About once a month I check the data to make certain it's there, etc... Not sure about the open .PST file thing. I think Outlook does it's own periodic save, so I don't think you are looking for something wildly exotic that saves "live" data in RAM. Meaning, I don't think Outlook being "open" or not matters.

I can't figure out why none of my wifi clients will work with 3rd party DNS servers.

Background:
I'm renting an apartment in Kiev, Ukraine and a TP-LINK TL-WR741ND router was provided for me. The router is ISP-branded, with "Kyivstar" printed on top. First thing I did was a factory reset and set up the SSID and within a moment I was online with my 2 iOS devices, Android tablet, and Win7 laptop.

Everything worked fine, but I want to use Google's DNS servers.

I can see the Kyivstar DNS servers used by the router (193.41.63.181 and 193.41.63.182) on the main status page at http://192.168.1.1 in the WAN section. See the simulator here: http://www.tp-link.com/resources/simulator/wr741N(UN)_4.2/index.htm

But unlike in the simulator's Network>WAN settings, my router doesn't have the checkbox labeled "Use these DNS servers" or the 2 fields below it for primary and secondary DNS server addresses.

Maybe that option isn't available in my router because of old firmware, but my router also doesn't have the Firmware Upgrade page under the System Tools menu. I checked carefully and there are no other differences (well, my router's UI is in Russian). But obviously there are some restrictions in place on this device vs. a standard TL-WR741ND.

No big deal, I can specify DNS servers in each client. Nope, no such luck. Using static DNS servers only works if the primary or secondary server is one of the following:

I have a ADSL connection (wire connection). I want to know is it OK and is it a safe, using Google public DNS server settings with all my devices? I already added 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 to my router as primary and secondary DNS server. Also i added those address to my PC (IPV4 connectivity) and phone WiFi connection DNS server.

After I added these settings my connection stability improve (quickly connected) with the internet.

A:Is it OK if i added Google public DNS settings to my connections?

I also use Google's DNS server, as my ISP's DNS servers have intermittent issues. Another choice is OpenDNS and I believe Norton has implemented a three-level tiered approach with DNS servers that make an attempt in securing your internet browsing by blocking some questionable sites. I think they range from basic security that is the least restrictive, to a high-level security which is the most restrictive. I've yet to play around with Norton's DNS servers, but I plan to when I have time.

Using the Google DNS's is OK but I'm sure they are collecting info all the time !!!! -- mind you Google just has SO MUCH I'm sure they can't do too much with it - mega information overload !!!.

I don't really want to use my own ISP's DNS servers - also they will be going to IPV6 any time at all. That's another issue BTW - for later !!!.

Cheers

Most of us aren't familiar with DNS because it's often handled automatically by our Internet Service Provider (ISP), but it provides an essential function for the web. You could think of it as the switchboard of the Internet, converting easy-to-remember domain names - e.g., Google - into the unique Internet Protocol (IP) numbers - e.g., 74.125.45.100 - that computers use to communicate with one another.

Just wondering is it is possible to leave admin status on a user account while removing the ability to make new accounts. Alternatively could one make a standard account have admin style(ie. altering files, running files as an admin/in admin mode, etc.) rights except the creation of new accounts? Just wondering if that is possible in Windows vanilla or with other software.

If this is answered elsewhere please just post link.

Thank you very much for your time.

A:Custom User Restrictions(ideally Admin rights -new account creation)

It's not possible.

Administrator account are, by design, capable of doing anything, that's the idea of having them in the first place. There are a few ways of imposing restrictions on admin accounts, but being an admin means that the user can simply lift them himself.

The alternative you propose is quite possible, within the limits of normal user accounts. Any account can manage the files within his own profile at will, and change all his personal settings, but nothing else. To perform admin-only tasks, he can use UAC to elevate, where he must provide an admin user/password to gain his privileges temporarily (to be true, it's the admin who actually do that, but within a standard user session, this being the scenario where UAC shines).

What's your idea about this? What do you want to achieve?

I recently transferred all my birthday dates to Google calendar. How do I get the next entry to pop up on my desktop when it falls due? I have at least one reminder that pops up and it tells me how many days to the next entry but not all do this. Any ideas? I know the dates are there as they show up when I browse Calendar.

when I'm using Google Calendar in the "month" mode, when I skip forward or backward it usually jumps two months at a time, not one. Any reason for this? Thanks.

I was shocked to find in my emails a note from Google Calendar advising me of my appointments for today. I have not
to my knowledge asked Google to do this and I don`t know how they have come by the information.

How do I get rid of this connection ? I don`t need the web to remind me of what I am doing. It is an invasion of my privacy.

A:Google Calendar how can I get rid of it

Google Calendar is synced with your Gmail -- they're both by the same company. So if that is the email address they are sending things to, it's not an invasion of your privacy. They just have your information because you gave it to them when you created an account with them.

As for disabling the email notifications, when you create an even there are options to disable even reminders. I use Google Calendar daily and also hate notifications simply because I check the calendar enough -- I don't need emails too.

My google calendar is stopped in the "loading" position. It does not stop loading which means that it is not available. However, it still syncs when I add a date (during the week that it is "frozen") with my smartphone. It doesn't matter if I access the calendar in IE, Google or Firefox.
PC Cleaner Pro has to be deleted. It is not listed so I was unable to delete it.

I am trying to embed a Google calendar in my website www.stmargaretschurchifield.org all to no avail. I paste and copy the html code but when I open the site and click on the menu bar, nothing happens. In addition, I have been trying to make the calendar open to all so the congregation can use it and most of them will not have a Google account and wont be able to sign in. I now have three calendars none of which I can use.

Should I sit in a darkened room or is there a way out of this mess please??
