Somewhere in the update/install process of Windows 10 (and re-installing Outlook 2007), I lost my contacts in my Outlook account. The contacts remain in my iCloud account and on my iPhone. Can some please instruct me on how to import all the contacts back in to my desktop Outlook 2007 application?

Hello knowledgeable ones:

Until last week I was using outlook 2003, an older versions of itunes, and an ipod, and was able to back up my outlook contacts and calender through itunes and right to the ipod, no problem.

Now, however, I have had to upgrade everything so they can handshake correctly. This has meant going to Outlook 2007, the latest itunes, an iphone 5, and the icloud. My entire goal is to have the contacts in outlook match the contacts in both the cloud and the phone.

In using the icloud control on both of these, I now have the following: a variety of calenders in my outlook with names like calender in icloud, home in icloud, and my calender, all in lovely pastel shades. The phone has one calendar with only the occasionally dupes on a given date.

The phone, however, is a disaster, with as many as three dupes of the same name. Looking at Outlook, I have a slew of contacts, some dupes, many that I though i had deleted from outlook. Also two categories of contacts, icloud and my contacts, with sub-directories in each. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw that the contacts tab under my contacts was completely blank following a sync to the cloud, only to then find the other five versions, which, of course, I would like to have agree with each other. The icloud interface on line shows dupe contacts as well.

I understand that one person may not have all the answers to all the parts of this; I am on an iphone forum as well, trying to figure ... Read more

I have windows 7 and outlook 2010 on a PC. When linking to icloud and enabling it to synch with icloud, icloud took the contacts off my computer (at least it seems that way). In trying to resolve the issue and talking with Apple and Omnitech, a variety of solutions were tried. I now have all my contacts in the right categories showing up on my PC, but it appears that they are not on the PC but in the cloud. My goal is to copy one of my categories, mailing list, into a  new separate folder in the folder list in order to use it to merge with Word and make labels. In the past, I could right click on the mailing list category and drag it to the new folder that I created. It would then ask if I wanted it to copy the file there or move it. I copied it to the new folder and then was able to merge it with word. Currently, when I try to drag the file to the folder, it indicates that this action can not be done. It appears to me that the reason this is occurring is that the contact file is in the cloud not on the computer.  ?? I would like to create a file with my contacts on the PC with the contacts in the right categories and not duplicating what is currently showing up from the cloud. I believe once I do this I will again be able to copy the category to the new folder.

When I was using iCloud (I stopped because it gave me too many headaches) I deleted a recurring event and now I keep getting hundreds and hundreds of Appointment Series deletions showing in my Deleted folder.

If I do a search for one of the words in the appointment name, then delete all those items from the Deleted folder, they are not deleted and simply reappear.

Every once in a while, I have to go to my Deleted folder to find something but my deleted emails are scattered amongst these hundreds of Appointment Series deletions.

I would sure appreciate your help!!

Thanks so much.....Richard

Good morning everyone,

So the other day something incredibly weird had occurred. I was receiving email normally on my phone, came into work, logged in, and began working on my trouble tickets. I noted that when I went back to Outlook to view an email, the email in particular was gone... and then all were gone. My folders, and emails within them, still remained the same. I attempted to research what on Earth happened but I haven't been able to find anything specific to my issue.

I'm using Outlook 2010 connected to an Exchange 2010 server for work. Outlook was setup as cached exchange mode but that has since been changed. The emails also disappeared from my phone's inbox too... it's as if everything was deleted and Exchange figured that's what it should be and synced everything that way. Deleting my OST didn't resolve or resync anything. I ran the scanpst tool on the ost file which reports 93 errors, but as I read the scanpst tool can't repair an OST and thus doesn't do anything.

Does Outlook have some sort of log that may explain what on Earth happened? I can't find any error messages or any other reasons for what may have happened. My view settings weren't changed, nothing has changed on my end. There is no spyware / malware installed on the PC as far as I can tell. No real issues in the Sync issues folder other than a Forms syncing issue which seems to be related to Exchange needing a patch (but can otherwise be ignored).

I will give you... Read more

A:Outlook 2010 / Exchange 2010 randomly deleted inbox email?

Are you the only person using that Exchange server who has this issue? Check with the IT department to see if they can recover the emails in your mailbox from the server. It's possible they recently did some maintenance on the mail server that caused this issue. That fact that both Outlook and your phone are having this issue points to this being an Exchange server problem, as Outlook uses autodiscover and MAPI while your phone uses ActiveSync to connect to the server.

Do you have access to your email using Outlook Web Access? If so, log in and see if the emails are there. If not, it's definitely a server issue.

If your mail is still on the server, one thing you could try is re-enabling the cached Exchange mode, saving the change, and then restarting Outlook. The last thing to try is to delete the email account profile and recreate it. Make sure to get the proper settings from IT if you don't already have them -- although since you are using Exchange and autodiscover, that's usually just a case of entering your username and password when you recreate it.

How do I need to set up my contacts so that I have one main folder with several sub folders sharing most of the same contacts. I want to be able to edit the contact information to any of the contacts from one folder and the corrections would take place to the contact in any of the other folders it may appear in. Is this possible in outlook? My database use to be in Access and it was a wonderful feature. I just can't believe that Outlook wouldn't have it.

A:Contacts Outlook 2010

Contacts will only appear on one place. If you have a contact named John Doe and it is filtered or categorized in multiple ways changing the contact once will change it everywhere. Do not duplicate contacts as there is no need to.

Hi Folks,

This appears to be a perennial subject but I think I've topped everyone.

1. All Contacts deleted from my MS Outlook address book (Office 2007 & Windows XP Tablet 2005 with Windows SP3).
2. Not in "Deleted Items" folder (I closed & reopened Outlook late only to discover the problem).
3. I do not use Microsoft Exchange.
4. I have no backup (yea, I know; I back up my other data regularly but never thought about Outlook).

Does anyone know if there is a way to recover my Contacts or are they gone forever? I've tried several .pst file recovery software programmes downloaded from the web however all have failed.

Thanks for any help !!

I have 2 Outlook 2010 contacts issues I'm dealing with...hopefully you can help.

1. Unable to search contacts.
When using the "Find a Contact" search box in the 'Find' section in the ribbon, I'm not able to get any results. I have my contacts organized into contacts, vendors, architects, franchisees, etc. Within my contacts section, I have a distribution group for each job location, but no actual contacts. The only results it will return is a distribution list...no individual contacts are returned.

2. Unable to select contacts and organize distribution groups
When I open a distribution list and try to add a new contact, I'm only able to select our corporate address list (internal), my contacts folder (containing only distribution lists), and the stupid 'suggested contacts' list containing emails of people that i don't have organized because I don't need to keep their address)...no other lists are available.

Any thoughts on how I can get through these problems? I'm using Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit, Office 2010. I did allow it to setup indexing. ANY help would be appreciated...this is driving me nuts!!!!

Thanks in advance
Bill

If I click Contacts in the main screen and then "new Contact" I create a contact and save/close. If I get a n email from someone not in my contact list and I right click on their email address I can "add" r\to outlook contacts but if I then search contacts I don't find those added by the second method above.. ??

I have to change the view - View, change view, list to see ALL my contacts. If I have the Business card view then not all contacts are shown.

Hi everyone,

I am using Outlook 2010. Its searching was working fine until 3 weeks ago. I was not able to search new contacts that I added a few weeks ago. However, I could search the old contacts I added years ago. So far, I had tried to rebuild the indexing, repair Outlook and the .ost file, but they all didn't work.

I just rebuilt the indexing one more time 2 days ago. I now can search the old contacts now but not the new ones. Same problem!!!
Does anyone have any clue or solution? THANKS!!!

I have a bunch of email addresses that have been automatically added to my Contacts in Outlook 2010, as well as some other contacts that have synced in from my phone, in addition to the many existing ones... many of the addresses and phone numbers go together with existing contacts. But is there an easy way to combine or "merge" two contact entries? Or am I stuck opening two entries, copy-and-pasting info, then deleting the extraneous one?

I have Contacts Scrubber, but it relies on two or more entries having at least some duplicate info... a lot of these extra entries are JUST automatically-added email addresses.

Hello,
The title would make it sound like a simple problem, but I can't figure it out for the life of me. Here is the situation. Last week a thunder storm blew through and sent a electrical spike through my protection and rendered my motherboard useless. My computer guy salvaged my data for all users from the drive. Once the motherboard was replaced, he had to repair the OS,(Vista). He then plopped the data into a folder on the drive. Now I just need to reload my programs and all that stuff. My question is this: I see the folder with all of my contacts in it. How do I get those contacts back in Outlook 2007? I tried the import wizard, but it seems that there is no option for importing that format. I looked at the properties of one of the contacts and it is listed as a .contact format. What is that? Any help would be appricated.

I want to export all my contacts in Outlook 2010 to Excel. Suggestions?

Why: I am fairly sure my outlook file is corrupt. I cannot see my contacts in category view as I did when I had the same program in WinXP (I upgraded to Win7.) After 8 months, the first category appeared in the Current View box, but no others. I can see the categories in list view. I thought I would find some errors when I export them to a file I can edit.

Alternatively, is there any way to view the main Outlook file, (.pst?) in an external editor?

Each email account has a .PST file.
"personal" / .PST files were created for archiving
Outlook created an Outlook.pst

Can someone confirm that Outlook.pst contains the contact list?
Note: In the account settings tab "Data File" outlook.pst is the only file that has a checkmark (default?) beside it.

The following link states contacts are stored in "Outlook Data File (.pst)".
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/where-does-microsoft-outlook-2010-save-my-information-and-configurations-HP010354943.aspx

A:which pst file stores the contacts in Outlook 2010

Contacts can be stored in EACH PST file that you use, so if you have multiple email accounts, each with its own PST, then you can have contacts in each PST file.

When adding a new contact (depending on how you add it), it will be stored in the Default data file (the one with the tick as you mentioned), or the one for the account you are using.,

If you look at the contacts on the bottom on the navigation pane (left), you will see several lists of contacts.

If each account shares a single PST file then all contacts will be in that PST file.

Hi I have Office 2010 which came bundled with Outlook. What I am trying to achieve is to trasnfer my iPhone contacts to my Outlook on my PC. I go through the iTunes contact sync and in iTunes I select Outlook as the option to sync with. After iTunes tells me the sync is complete, no contacts appear in my Outlook.

I used to have Outlook Express but now have the full-blown version of Outlook, could this be causing the problem?

A:Outlook 2010 problem importing contacts

Do you have iCloud Contact sync enabled on your iPhone. Note that if you do, iTunes will say that contacts were synced but like in your case, no contacts will appear within your Outlook. iCloud Contact sync and Outlook sync via iTunes do not go together.

You can alternatively export your iPhone contacts to outlook using third-party tools such as copytrans contacts:

Make sure to select the Outlook option once prompted during export.

About the time my husband left his old job we got our new Windows 7 laptop, purchased and installed Office 2010, including Outlook. Since his new job is in the same industry, he wanted to "bring home" his Outlook contacts. He exported his contacts at work (PST file) to a jump drive. I imported these to our new Outlook. Little did I realize just how many contacts he had!

As I am thinking about getting a new cell phone to sync with Outlook, I really don't want to carry around his business contacts with me! I think I will just save his PST file until he really needs it.

Now... how can I remove his contacts I imported? If necessary I could "empty" all my contacts (if that's possible to do) and re-export/re-import my personal contacts from my old laptop.

So glad to find this Windows 7 forum! Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

I can type the person's name in the search field and it pulls them up.  I then touch on To in this search window and it will then

A:Office Outlook 2010 will not access contacts

First, which version of Office do you have? You start by saying you have 2013, but then at the end you say you have 2010. This is important, as there are significant changes to the user interface between 2010 and 2013. Are you using the Outlook client on the computer, or the Outlook web app? Also, are you searching for the contacts in Outlook, or are you searching using the Windows 8 search bar?

ref. 33974158 - this is for my information only, please disregard.

Hello everyone,

I have stumbled upon really freakish issue with Outlook 2010.
Here's scenario:
My users are being migrated from XP machines with Office 2003 onto Widows 7 with Office 2010.
One particular person had a quite large amount of contacts (over 500) on his mail account. This seem to be stored on Exchange Server as they travelled across to new machine without any local migration.
Now, the problem is following:
Each contact had a business phone number and business mailing address (not electronic mail!) among lots of other details Outlook allows you to put down. Each contact also had an option marked under "Addresses" panel - "This is the mailing adress"
where next to it was written down address of given person.
When user is creating an e-mail and selects a recipient from his local address book instead of corporate one he can see a list of suggestions according to his search criteria. On this list we've seen person display name and other details, however in E-mail column there was a phone number. Seems to be pulled from field Business Phone number". When such person is selected his e-mail address shows correctly but if someone on the other end doubleclick on such contact he is able to see phone number. This is a big issue while mailing couple of people at the same time.
I've managed to narrow down the problem to this single field "This is the mailing adress&... Read more

I currently use Outlook 2010 because I have a paid license but I'm willing to upgrade.

This works Ok with iCloud but what I don't like is that I can't make my icloud calendar the default in Outlook so I don't get reminders on my PC. What I end up doing is manually copying critical appointments from my icloud calendar to my Outlook default calendar if I want to be sure to get a reminder on my PC!. This isn't ideal though. Does anyone have a better solution? I read that the latest Outlook 2016 doesn't sync at all so I can't upgrade Office. I wish MS and Apple would decide to work together instead of trying to defeat each other!!

I believe icloud will sync with windows 10 mail and calendar apps - is that true?

I've also heard of emclient being good but haven't tried it.

I'd really appreciate any input.

This is a story of two computers. The old one is a Dell and the replacement is an HP (also old - but works fine).
My Dell desktop quit working recently. Discussions on a hardware forum indicated possible motherboard failure. The Dell had two hard drives. The C Drive with the OS (Win 7) and Office 2010 (email with Outlook 2010) and the D Drive with all my personal files.
To make sure I preserved the hard drives I obtained an adapter, took the hard drives out, read them both with my laptop, so both drives are fine.
I located a used HP desktop from which its hard drive had been removed. I hooked up my D Drive to the HP and installed Windows 7 and Office 2010. All of my personal files remained intact.
I set up Outlook 2010 which automatically found my two email accounts but my address book and contacts list did not appear.
I still have my Dell's C Drive hooked to my laptop. The C Drive from my old Dell still has the Windows 7 OS and Office 2010.
I've located two places on the C Drive that appear to have Outlook files:
Users - Me - AppData - Local - Microsoft - Outlook
Users - Me - AppData - Roaming - Microsoft - Outlook
I don't know how to read those files, I don't know if my address book and contents are in there and, if they are, I have no idea how to retrieve them.
Even if they aren't in those folders they've got to be somewhere on the drive that has the OS and Office.
What do I do next?
Thanks.

Outlook 2010 has a weird behaviour.
About half of my personal contacts are listed in separated folders, although it should be a single "personal" file.
The indication reads "company none" (14 in one 28 in another)
I have no idea how to correct that, so I sort on telephone-numbers.
But that mixes up personal en company, which I prefer separated.

The same weird ting is about any company listed in a single phrase, instead of just a list of companies.

There is no way to merge them in a single folder. (Company or Personal)

If you for instance type something in the company-field, Outlook moves it to the company list.
If however you remove that company information, the contact is moved to the second personal file instead of the primary original personal list.

So why are their two files of the same thing "company none"?

If I ad a new contact it will be added to the second list "company none"?

I've done something odd to solve it.
Opened up every personal contact in sequence.
Added a random character in the company field, saved it, opened again and removed that character.
Than saved it and it was stored in the second personal (company none) list.
So with all the others and now it is one file as it should be.
No more "Company none" double folder.

But still, why is every company address listed as "company (1 item)" ?

A:Apply a custom form to existing contacts in Outlook 2010?

You don't make the forms with Word at all. You create them directly in Outlook and use any VBA to add functionality. GO to Tools > Forms > Design a form. It has been ages since I have attempted it.

I keep contact details in my Microsoft account (at Sign in to your Microsoft account). I've been using Outlook 2010 with the Microsoft Outlook Hotmail Connector and this used to synchronise my contacts fine.

However, for a while now, I've noticed mail synchronisation errors and I've had to configure my Microsoft mail account to use the standard IMAP settings (not via the Hotmail connector).

However, this method no longer synchronises my contacts. How do you configure the mail and contact settings in Outlook 2010 to synchronise both mail and contacts in Outlook 2010 with my Microsoft account?

iTunes sync via USB cable - I do NOT use iCloud

Hi All

I have 2 different profiles in my desktop Outlook. One for Personal and One for Business. On my iPod Touch, I can receive email from all my POP3 email accounts. However, for Contacts, Notes and Calendars, my Touch ONLY syncs with my Personal Outlook Profile. This means that I cannot access my Business contacts on the Touch.

I have searched for an answer to see IF I can actually sync my Touch with multiple Outlook profiles, but haven't come up with an answer.

Does anyone know if iTunes will allow a sync between the device and multiple Outlook profiles?

Thanks

I recently loaded a pop3 Hotmail account to my Outlook 2010 since I was having problems with the MAPI Hotmail sending multiple copies of emails with large attachments. I am hoping the pop3 version will eliminate this problem; however, I can't seem to get the pop3 account to find my contacts and Contacts folder does not appear in the folder list. This is stressing my pea sized brain and I sure could use some help.

i have troubles with my outlook 2010 contacts. The main problem is that there is no category view. I have categorized my 1000+ contacts; only one category appears in Current View. When I search for a contact, it brings up three copies of the same contact. Worst, it assigns some an extra category. I recently exported all the contacts into a csv file, deleted them from Outlook, edited the csv file carefully, and imported them back into Outlook. The Outlook file must be corrupt. Should I just start over, delete Outlook, reinstall it, make a new file from scratch, import the csv contacts file? Other ideas?

In my Outlook 2010 I have set up a number of Contact Groups. I've named them A, B, C, D.............Z. In each one are the surnames of the recipients, e.g. in the A is Anderson, Addy, Apple, Adams, Aggenbach, etc., and likewise in B to Z. One of them (lets say the V's) have 35 addresses, and the A's have 6 addresses.

The problem I'm having is that when choosing the V Group (and some of the others), then when I click Send then it forever says Sending and never completes the task. So, it's impossible to send any other emails thereafter: they all then sit in the Outbox, waiting for the V task to finish. When I close and then re-open Outlook it just continues to send. I then have to delete some of the V recipients, until there are about 5 or so only, then it's works OK. Could the problem be, amongst others, the size in kB of the V Group, perhaps?

Please help!

perhaps there is a spam limit put on the number of email address you can send out on 1 email

Hello everyone,

Just wondering if I am missing something but I just had a user delete the "outlook files" folder from their documents by mistake. This lead to them opening up outlook and it asking for a password which turned out to be the windows password. Of course once finally in outlook, it was empty.
When I tried to duplicate this, upon opening outlook, I get a flurry of questions about not seeing the .pst file, which I would expect. I simply restored from the recycle bin and all was good again. I never got a password prompt.
So I have 2 questions:

Why is the OS (windows 7) allowing the folder to be deleted as the contents are hidden files?

Has anyone here heard of the first scenario where the user claims to have done nothing and you get a password prompt when trying to open outlook (did a virus scan, was clean)?

thanks,
Spline

Twice in as many weeks I have had a machine come to me missing the Outlook 2010 pst file needed to run. I have run GetDataBack for NTFS on both and recovered a string of pst files that look to be the appropriate size but I have had to run scanpst on them to get Outlook to use the files. Only a small percentage of the files can be repaired and of the repaired files only a small amount of email (messages) information is actually returned to Outlook. Is this the result of some type of new and very malicious infection? I am at a loss.

A:Deleted and corrupted Outlook 2010 pst files

I also use GetDataBack-NTFS and I have also tried various other data-recovery programs.

The quality of data-recovery which occurs...varies from program to program...and, even if recoverable, the files may be corrupted/damaged in such manner that they are not useable as substitutes for the originals. I interpret that as just the nature of the attempted recovery process.

I just can't seem to permanently delete emails.

"Normal ISP" accounts or exchange corporate email accounts seem to work fine .

Anybody got a solution for this -- I've got nearly 1100 wretched emails in the inbox that I can't get rid of

Even moving then to a LOCAL inbox and delete doesn't cure the problem. I'm using IMAP service.

Bad case of "RTFM" (or Not doing it). You need to set Auto Expunge OFF and then choose delete from server.

Is is possible to either delete or hide the "search folders" and "deleted iems" folders that appear in each pst file created?

We use individual pst files to file our emails per current job. But the folders above take up a lot of visual space in the toolbaro it would be preffered to hide or delete them.

We do not use either to "file" emails so the compact now option in the data file managment dialog box does not really apply since I believe this is really a benefit when the file is archived.

A:Search and Deleted Items folders in Outlook 2010 pst files

Annoyitated - Try this:

There are two "Navigation Views" which can be displayed in the OL 2010 Navigation Pane.
"Classic tree view": All open PSTs are listed in alphabetical order and, when expanded, display meaningful folders as well as the folders you want to hide but can not.
"Favorites view": The favorites view has two sections. Favorites appear in a flat tree in the top half and PSTs appear in the bottom half and behave just like the classic view.
Toggle between Navigation Views Select any Top level PST folder | View Tab | Navigation Pane (there are other techniques to toggle between layouts you can explore on your own)

Adding a Favorite: Any Folder or SubFolder, of any Type, can be added to the favorites view. NOTE: You Must be in the Favorites View to select a folder to Show in FavoritesToggle into Favorites View
Right select a folder from your various PSTs
Click "Show in Favorites"
Favorite Folder will appear at bottom of Favorites section
Drag Favorite folder into a desired ordinal position
Collapse all of the PSTs in lower half and you see a clean looking folder navigation list
Problems: I have some 40+ PSTs of which more than 20 of these are generally open. Sometimes Favorites view does not show all of my Favorites because the PSTs consume too much real estate. I haven't tried to understand why - could be memory constraints. I find if I close some PSTs and then reopen OL, they magically reappear.

I have a user who deleted a folder full of emails. We have a retention policy in place and I can see deleted emails to recover, but I would like to recover the folder structure with the emails inside.

A:Recover Deleted Folder Outlook 2010 connect to Exchange

Which version of Exchange are you using? From what I can recall, you might not be able to do this without third-party software. The first try should going into the user's Outlook, clicking on the Deleted Items folder, choose the Folder tab at the top of the screen, and then click on the Recover Deleted Items button. If the folder shows up in there, all well and good. If not, you may have to restore the e-mails and then have the user sort them into the folder again. After all, it was their problem and shouldn't become your crisis.

As an aside: in our organisation we use ShadowProtect for our backups, and also purchased ShadowProtect Granular Recovery for Exchange (GRE) to afford us the possibility of restoring individual e-mails and/or folder structures. This has worked very well indeed, and saved a lot of headaches when users do what they do best ;-)

I am using outlook 2010 on my computer as email software. My email provider is godaddy.com (secureserver.net). I've done a variety of searched but can't find my problem directly. When deleting emails, up until last month everything worked fine, deleted emails went into the trash folder in outlook, could call them up, review them, restore them or perm delete them. Not sure what changed, but now when I delete an email it is gone from my computer (outlook), the last trash folder email saved was 12/18/14. However if I on online and login in through the godaddy.com website, anything I recently deleted can be seen in the trash folder online. I've checked in outlook - account settings - and under store deleted items in xxx folder on the server, trash is selected. But why will it only save to the website server and not locally in outlook?? And it was doing just fine. I did one brief period, and the timing might be right, where outlook through up a data file error and wouldn't load my emails, but that got fixed, and emails work fine except where the deletes go. Any thoughts?

A:Outlook 2010 won't store deleted items locally only on webserver

Hi ryanzoo06, welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

The screen shot below may help fix your problem as I assume your emails are being deleted when you exit Outlook. This is from Outlook 2013 but I think it is the same as 2010.
To make this adjustment, open Outlook, select File, then Advanced & refer to the unticking where shown.

As a further precaution to prevent accidental deleting of deleted emails, go right down to the bottom of the Advanced window to Other & tick Prompt for Confirmation before Permanently Deleting items.

Mail is normally retained on the mail server for a period of time, so that is the reason they are still there.

Despite "include messages from the deleted items folder in each data file when searching all items" being ticked in Outlook's Search Options (File --> Options --> Search), it does not include the Deleted Items folder when clicking "Try searching again in All Mail Items".

I know the e-mail is in Deleted Items. Deleted Items (i.e -Bin) is included when searching All Mail Items using my Gmail IMAP account, so I know this setting generally works.

Any idea why it's not working when searching from my Hotmail account? Thanks

If I click on the root folder above Inbox, search and include "subfolders" deleted items is included.

Check out the following article: Importing contacts from Windows Contacts folder | MSOutlook.info. Make sure you use the Vista procedure. It seems the article was designed specifically for this purpose so I have high hopes it will accomplish your objective. You do not drag the contents (which is essentially copy/paste) - you use import/export instead.

I hope this helps.

Hello, I have multiple issues regarding address books and contacts. I am currently trying to organize multiple address books on my Win 2000 desktop(outlook express) my laptop XP (outlook 2007) and my IPhone 3G. They are a mess because of old cell phone backups combined with address book entries. I now have multiple entries for numerous contacts etc.
After organizing all these contacts/address books I would like to import to my new Win 7 desktop (outlook 2010 beta) and retire my Win 2000 desktop. These are all stand alone computers that are not networked other than through a router to share broadband access.
I tried searching for software to help combine and organize all three of these but had no luck.
I then tried manually updating all my contacts on my laptop and Iphone but I ran into a glich of sorts. After making the changes on my Iphone and doing a ITunes sync, some of the contacts disappeared. Right now I am not sure how many, but I noticed a few of the ones I use alot are gone on both my laptop and Iphone.
I do not subscribe to or use the "mobile me" feature.
I have spent quite a bit of time searching the net without finding a solution.
Any help you can provide would be much appreciated!
Thank You!

I deleted outlook contacts, and they do not show up anywhere in outlook. However, if I do a computer search - start, type in the contact name and search, their contact information pulls up. It shows it as an outlook contact (but it is no longer in outlook). I can see all of the info by holding the curser over the name of the searched item. When I delete it, nothing happens. It won't allow me to open it to edit it, I just see the info there, but can do nothing with it. How do I permanently delete it?.

Hi there first time poster and I'm not sure where to post this question so please move if not in the correct area.

I'm running Vista on my laptop and Window Mobile on my phone, I setup Windows Live Messenger on my phone and accidentally deleted all my contacts on the phone which when I logged into it also deleted all my contacts on the computer. Is there anyway to fix this and get my contacts back??

A:Deleted Windows Live Contacts

Just a update for everyone, after googling and reads for hours I found how to fix it. Go to your messenger and click on tools, options, then click on the Privacy tab on the left side and in there you should find your contacts in the allow box. Right click on the contact you wish to add back and "add to contacts" all should be good!

In Outlook, I deleted contacts, and they now do not show up anywhere in Outlook. However, if I do a computer search - it shows it as an outlook contact (but it is no longer in outlook). I can see all of the info by holding the curser over the name of the searched item. When I delete it, nothing happens. It won't allow me to open it to edit it, I just see the info there, but can do nothing with it. How do I permanently delete it?

Here is how I see the deleted information - I click on the windows logo which is on the bottom left of the computer (scroll over it and "start" appears). I click on that, and it states: search program and files. In that rectangular box, I type in the old contact name and hit enter. A list of (i) Documents and (ii) Microsoft Office Outlook then appears on the left side of the screen. The outlook contact symbol (looks like a small postcard) then appears and just to the right of that it shows the name of the person. I can't open it, but if I place the curser over it, all of the contact information then appears.

When I right click on the contact and click on delete, it deletes it right then and there. But just as soon as I do another search, the same contact info appears as described above. When I right click and hit open, nothing happens. I can't open it. I can only see the formation that is there each time after a search.

I would like to know how to delete it so that it doesn't show up in a search. Thanks.

My Windows Contacts folder has been emptied. The files are not in the recycle bin. Below is an explanation of what I was doing. Please read it all the way through. Please keep in mind that I reference both Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail. I know the difference and I've been specific in the paragraph below. I think most people were reading the first line and leaving with the idea that they can't help. That would explain 166 views and not a single reply. My computer runs Windows Vista and I use Windows Mail. My father's computer is not Vista so he's switching to Windows Live Mail (WLM). I think that's confusing people when they read the next paragraph.

I was attempting to help my father figure out how to import his contacts from Seamonkey to Windows Live Mail. He's 1300 miles away. I opened SeaMonkey Mail to get to its address book and found not only his addresses (he uses it when he visits), but my contacts from Windows Mail (NOT WLM). I deleted one of my own email groups in SeaMonkey and was still able to see it in Windows Mail, so I figured I was only deleting an imported listing from SeaMonkey and proceeded to delete the rest of my contacts. When I was done, I was still able to see my Contacts in Windows Mail. After I was done I closed SeaMonkey but left Windows Mail open.

Several hours later, I went to forward an email and found every single one of my contacts is gone. I do not have this information to re-enter it. Is there a backup of the contact list? Is there a way... Read more

A:PLEASE HELP!! All contacts in Windows Mail have been accidentally deleted.

I don't use Windows mail but I will try to help anyway
I don't know if Windows mail is an online setup like G-mail or all kept on your computer.
What I would do is download Shadow Explorer (a free program) This lets you look through your system restore points and recover any files from them.
Unless you changed the default system restore settings one will be made each time you start Vista.

I have recently upgraded to Windows 10 and been having problems with an old bt email account which I rarely use. I decided to delete it, but now find I have lost nearly all my contacts on my laptop. I reinstalled the bt account again successfully, but still can't find my contacts.

In mail app, go to email account settings - check if you have set your email to show contacts too

Everyone in my address book/MSN contacts were sent a SPAM e-mail from my account.
The next day I logged onto MSN and all my contacts were missing.
All my contacts had been blocked and deleted and all the ones I had blocked were on my allow list.
I checked my Hotmail contact list and it was also empty.

I went through the 5 steps.

When I right click to delete them the "delete" option does not show.
I do not know how these got into my contacts list, but I want them deleted.

Instead of attempting to delete by Right clicking which isn't an option in Live Mail, select the name then Delete as shown in the attachment.

Hello

I am using Windows Live Messenger MSN 8.5.1302.1018 and I keep getting contacts that have already been deleted by me come up with contact add requests in large numbers so I get a load of dialogue boxes at the same time requesting to be added. I block them and delete them but a while later it all happens again. Before this happens the green bar along the bottom slowly progresses almost as if something is synchronising with something. I have run virus checkers but I cannot seem to prevent this reoccurring. Love some help, could it be some sort of virus?

I used to have a Windows phone and attached my Facebook account to the Windows phone on my Microsoft Live account. I have since gotten rid of my Windows phone but then afterwards I permanently deleted my Facebook account. I bought a new pc with Windows 8.1 and logged in with my Microsoft Live account and saw that it kept all of my old contacts from Facebook and there is no way to delete them since I no longer have a Facebook account to delete them.

Is there a way to delete contacts that are associated with Facebook if I no longer have a Facebook account? I have an Xbox Live account associated with my Microsoft Live account so I do not want to delete my Microsoft Live account. Is there any way to delete my contacts without having to delete my Microsoft Live account?

A:Deleted Facebook Account Cannot Delete People Contacts

Hello Max, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Check using the tutorial below to remove your Facebook account from your People app. This will remove all Facebook contacts from your People app.

People App Accounts - Add or Remove in Windows 8

In addition, you can also manually remove any unwanted contacts in your People app as well.

People App Contacts - Delete in Windows 8

For your Microsoft account, see if the tutorial below to remove web service accounts from it will do the trick.

Microsoft Account - Add or Remove Web Service Accounts
Hope this helps for now,
Shawn

How can I change Outlook so that all my deleted files are deleted rather than being sent into the "Deleted" folder?

There must be a way?

Hello all:

First time poster.

In the folder/tree view on the left in Outlook 2007 (Windows XP Pro) the Contacts folder is not showing up.

In Outlook 2003, it was right there underneath Calendar, which, by the way, is also missing from the Folder/Tree view.

I can access my Contacts via the big tab at the bottom but I want the tree/folder view as it broke up the hierarachy very nicely.

Any ideas?

Thanx in advance,

--d.

A:Outlook Contacts not showing up in Tree/Folder view (Outlook 2007)

Use "Folder List" view to see all of your folders in a single list. Either click the little folder icon in the Navigation Pane on the left-hand side or click Go | Folder List in the Menu Bar.

So I know I solved this problem once but while I've been away from the site these past couple months, it's come back. I've apparently forgotten how to deal with it, and I can't seem to find any other helpful posts. Speaking of helpful posts, I'm posting this under "Customization" in the hopes that no one will try to just yell at me to play with the libraries Microsoft worked so hard to get for me-- I don't want them.

You know the drill. I've deleted:
Contacts
Downloads
Favorites
Music
Pictures
Searches
Videos
(Desktop & My Documents I know to keep)
...and they keep coming back. These are the library things I'm talking about. I've already hidden the library part in the nav pane, and set up my own folders on my data d:/ drive with my own names, and created symlinks to get to them through my user account name.

How do you keep them deleted again???

A:Contacts, Downloads, Favorites... libraries/folders won't stay deleted

I've had the same issue. They always reappear. If you find a solution, be sure to post it on here!
