Briefly here is my setup

Internet is supplied to my building by ISP(I have no router) => apple time capsule connected by Ethernet.

I have used WIFI to connect all of my devices in the past with no problem until i moved into this place.

I have 2 macbooks that can connect without any issues

Every single other device in the house cannot connect and does not receive a proper IP Address. The ones being assigned are in the 169.xxxxxx range. Even if i plug my Imac (which cant connect) directly in from the wall via ethernet, it wont connect.

The time capsule is setup as a bridge with DCHP set to run automatically.

I have reset everything numerous times and restored the router to no avail.

I called the ISP and they said it wasnt their problem. I was under the impression they werent assigning the IP Address correctly or something.

Im stuck and need some help.

Thanks

A:Apple Time Capsule Not Assigning IP Addresses

can you connect a PC directly to the incoming ethernet cable and post an ipconfig /all

169.254.x.x - is a IP supplied by windows when it cannot find a dhcp service (suspect the same on mac - but not 100%)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here

We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all post back the results in a reply here

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box (A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results to notepad and then automatically open notepad.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results to a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy
Now go back to the forum - reply and then right click in the reply box and paste

I've been searching the Web for 6 hours. Can't come to any solid conclusions... time to turn to my friends at Computerhope I'm trying to help a friend (John). His family has always had multiple Apple and Android devices using his wifi with no problems, but over Thanksgiving, he had a dozen relatives over to his house. Most used Apple devices, some used Windows/Android. All of John's personal devices (Apple and Windows/Android) worked as usual, but ALL of the "out of town" Apple (and only Apple) devices were forced to use APIPA addys, hence no Internet.DHCP IP pool was plentiful. It simply refused to spit out any IP's to the "out of town" Apple devices. He would power-cycle the router, which temporarily fixed the issues, but they came back shortly (can't recall how long he said, but I surmise it was when the DHCP lease was up - one day). Thanks in advance for the help!

A:Only Apple devices given APIPA addresses - Wifi

Arrghhh.. disregard the above post. My friend neglected to inform me that he had a WAP installed and that some of the Windows/Android devices actually had some connectivity issues as well... I rebooted the WAP and all is good now.

Hello. I recently uninstalled iCloud from my computer, but there still is an icon in Control Panel. Any thoughts on how to remove it?

A:Cannot remove iCloud from Control Panel

Hi,
You could probably start by knowing for a fact that iCloud is located in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services\".

Another way could be reinstalling iCloud and then uninstalling it again.

I have switched to Windows 10 for mail and calendars as Outlook was taking too long to load. I have set up my gmail account for mail and all is working fine. However I use iCloud for my calendars and want to see my iCloud calendars in Windows 10.

However I am having problems setting up my iCloud account in Windows 10. I enter the relevant details but the "looking for your settings" process never completes. Could this be because I use the same email address for Gmail and my Apple ID?

I suspect I'm making a basic error but would welcome any suggestions. Thank you.

Hello.
I have a large email group - over 200 names - in Outlook Express Address Book. A number of outdated email addresses bounced back to me. I wish to remove them from my Group. But OE seems to list only names, not email addresses. I cannot find a way to search by email address. Therefore I am faced with the task of looking up each name's properties to see if it's the email I need to eliminate.
Surely there must be a better way!
Or should I just find a better program to use? If so, suggestions?
Thanks.

Yahoo imports: Microsoft Outlook (CSV File).

There is nothing in the address book that allows you to export, so under MS 2003 Outlook they is nothing that permits me to export to CSV. I suppose I need an upgrade but I am selling my business and don't want to spend the moeny right now for that.

Say I have 10 individual Email recipients that I often send the same Email to. I want to be able to bring all the addresses together into one Group, and send the Email addressed to say "Family" or "Social Team" etc.

Is there a way that I can lump all the common recipients together under one title?

A:How do I group common Email addresses together to send all the same Email?

Since your question is in the Windows Live section, I am assuming you are using the Windows Live Mail (POP Version). To add a group email do the following:

1. In Windows Live Mail, click the "contacts" button
2. Click "New"
3. Select "Category"
4. Name the Catergory (such as Family or whatever you want to call the group)
5. Check the email addresses of the list that pops up for those you want in the group.

Now, next time you want to send an email with this program, in the "to" field, simply type the name of the category you just created. All contacts you added to the group will now be sent the email you just wrote.

Hello,

I'd like to send emails to a specific group of people (roughly 150 people) using Outlook. However, I'd like any given user to only see his/her email address in the "To" box, not the other 149. And I'd like it to be like this for everyone: I send 1 email, everyone receives it, and only sees his/her email address.

This is not for marketing. Think of it as a teacher sending emails to his students.

I know there's a quick way of doing this but I can't seem to figure it out.
If I put everybody in BCC:, the "To" box remains empty, and that's not what I want.

Thanks a lot!

Is there a way to gather all email addresses (either from, to, or cc) in a particular email folder in Outlook and store them in a delimited file? Alternatively, is there a way to add all email addresses from all emails in a particular folder to Outlook Contacts or to the Outlook Address Book?

My problem is this: my phone number is changing and I'd like to send an email to everyone who has either sent me an email or to whom I've sent an email announcing the change.

Any other way to solve the problem?

Like I've mentioned in my other posts, I'm technologically challenged

I am a member of a website where you get extra points if you get other people to sign up - referrals. I know this is lame, but I just wanted to see if it would work, so I tried to refer myself using a diff email address but it would not work - I'm assuming it has something to do with my IP address thing. Is it possible to fix this prob? Perhaps setup different user accounts in the control panel (Windows XP)? That might be too much trouble though - not sure how long it takes to log off, switch user, login, etc.

Any tips/advice?

Hello..
I have an Apple laptop with MAC OS X vs 10.2.8. I have been using the Apple mail program for a long time and never had any trouble until recently.
I received a long email from a friend (?) with a couple of "forwards" in it. I have tried to delete it but it won't go away. In fact, the little circle starts spinning (like the hour glass in Windows) and locks up the whole computer. I can't even shut the computer down normally.
Is there anyway to find the email and trash it from some other area on the hard drive?
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Does anybody know how I can remove the Apple Software Updater from a hard drive?
A search shows Apple in C/Documents and Settings/Local. Problem is that there is no such folder, not even hidden.
Apple Software Updater shows in Add/Remove, but I get a message about Windows Installer cannot find a file, then Apple gets left alone.

A:Remove Apple Updater.

Perhaps it's C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Application Data\Apple but search wasn't displaying the full path.

In Search, you can right click an item and choose Open Containing Folder to go directly to the folder one level up from the item.

Couldn't find anything for manually uninstalling, but you could always reinistall iTunes for Windows, QuickTime for Windows, or Safari for Windows, choosing to install the Apple Software Update. That might repair it so you can then uninstall it.

From about three weeks ago, on only my most heavily used email account (it has around 75,000 emails in it and gets around 200 emails each day), I was only able to download 4 emails at a time. Then it would stop. I would click "Get Mail" and it would download the next 4 emails. I'd click "Get Mail" etc etc until all emails were downloaded.

I tried to find a solution, but couldn't, so I just put up with it (it was really only a pain in the butt first thing in the morning).

Then, this morning - disaster! My main account only downloads one email at a time! It shows "55 of 55 Incoming messages", then next time "55 of 55 incoming messages" etc. A new one must have arrived because now it is showing "56 out of 56" (but I still have 6 hours of emails to download).

A:Apple Mail Account: Only Downloading 1 Email at a Time

This is a largely undocumented problem with GMail over pop.

Read this article. Gordon's Tech: Gmail’s undocumented POP3 download limit

It appears that your download limit is lower than that stated (340) but I believe it is the same thing.

I think the only way yo fix this would be to setup an IMAP GMail in Mail.

Are you using normal GMail or google Apps Gmail?

After one clicks on 'create mail' then clicks on 'to' it takes one to the address book main identity screen. Then one has to click on 'main identity contacts to get a drop down for 'email addresses'. Double clicking on an email address puts the address on the email form.

When I want to send something I've received on to others I prefer to send a separate email to each recipient rather than sending to a bunch of people all at once. This requires that I keep going through several motions. QUESTION: Is there any way to get to the email address list directly without having to click on the main identity contacts, etc?

A:Email addresses in OE

Go into "View" , Click on Layout , Check the "contacts" check box, Apply the changes.

Contact list will be displayed in the left bottom .
Double click on the e-mail address from the contact list and new msg window will appear with the "to" field set to the e-mail id you double clicked.

You can view the information in the email header. How to do that varies depending on which email service you are using. For instance, in Hotmail, you open the message then click on the box next to reply on the right... top of the email. if your using Outlook Express then click 'create mail', write your message, then at the 'to' line (the bit which you write the address) click it, it will open a new window in which you can select multiple recipients - as long as they're in your address book (ie. contacts).

If they aren't, then it's back to typing them all again.

Here is something. But please remember that it erases all such memory, initially, depending upon your selections. If you choose to disable autocomplete options but want the computer to retain any other passwords or login names, you will need to reCHECK the options again.

Do the following: IE\Tools\Internet Options\Content\AuroComplete\. Here you will have options to CLEAR FORMS and CLEAR PASSWORDS. You can select either of those or both. That should take care of it for now.

The options should be seff-explanatory.

Right click the Task Bar and start the Task Manager. Go to the Processes tab and end processes iTunes, and Apple Software Update, if running
Go to Start/Run and type appwiz.cpl and press enter. In the Add Remove Programs uninstall

If using Revo, be sure to do the Advanced method, and Highlight all of the Registry Files for each program and Delete them too. Then restart the Computer.
Browse to C:\Documents and Setting\All Users\Application Data and delete any Apple Folders. Then making sure Show Hidden Files and Folders are showing, go to C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\LocalSettings\Application Data and delete the Apple Folders there. Now go over to C:\Program Files Delete the Apple Software Update, Bonjour, iTunes and Quicktime folders, if they are still there. Then go to C:\Program Files\Common Files and delete the Apple folder there as well. Empty the Recycle Bin and restart. Run a Search for Apple just to be sure you got everything, then try installing again

After browsing the Email section of the Windows 7 Forum it looks like my Email Address Book will not just transfer into Windows 7 from my old XP PC.

The majority of my info from my old PC (XP) was transferred into my new Windows 7 PC but the guys at the shop just hung their heads when I said I was using Outlook Express as my Email client.
They said they could not just transfer the Email Address Book.
The mother board was fried but the hard drive was okay.

What are my options for retrieving 5 years of Outlook Express Email addresses?

Can I take the old PC to the shop and ask them to hook up the hard drive to their test equipment and print out all those adresses on paper?
Can they burn a CD (of all those Email addresses) from that XP hard drive that I can then run on my new Windows 7 and then copy and paste them one by one into my Comcast SmartZone address book.

If I just had them to look at I could at least pick and choose the most important ones to add to my new address book.

The old PC was 32 bit and my new one is,

HP P6240F 64 bit
Intel R Core TM 2 Quad Q8300

8 gig memory
750 HD

I'm no PC Guru so I won't be attempting to hookup the old HD to my new PC.
Whatever my options are I'll take it somewhere to retrieve the Email addresses if that's possible.

--CadillacPat the UnCustomizer--

A:Salvaging Email addresses from old PC (XP)

The "Contacts" application in Windows 7 does have an option to Import a "Windows Address Book File (Outlook Express contacts)". You need to get the .WAB file from the hard drive of your old PC, which shouldn't be too much of a problem if you can get the hard drive connected up as a slave drive in your (or someone's) PC. Alternatively, install the drive in an external USB enclosure.

My O/S is Windows XP Home SP2; I use MS Office 2003 and Office Outlook for email.

Recently, I had to replace my hard drive but the technician who did the work was able to retrieve data and create a backup folder on my Desktop which contains, among other items, my email addresses.

I've attempted to import the address file into my email program but, so far, have been unable to do so. The file seems to be a .pst which I'm unable to open. I've looked around on the Internet to see if there's a solution but haven't found one yet. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you know where the PST file is location, you can simply configure Outlook to use that as the default data file. Then you don't to import anything.

We are on a exchange server here in our building.
And one person is having an issue with her outlook.
When typing in a address that she has never done before she would have to hit the Check address button. It would then find the right name in our contacts on the server.

She could do this one day or right now and add them.
Then cancel right out of the email and go right back in and start typing the last name and it fills.

But she says she has done this yesterday and today you can not type in the last name you would have to hit the check address button for it to go out and find.
I did add someone in on 5 days ago and they are still available.
But like i said the one she did yesterday is not.

Is there any registry fix or removal to get this working?
I have done a repair on the Outlook, but still the same.

A:Outlook email addresses

(I hope I'm understanding this problem correctly and not wasting your time)

It's possible that the person originally entered a space or something before the recipient's name. That has happened before at my job. Then when the end user enters the correct recipient name, it isn't found.
To fix this issue, you need to have delete the recipient's incorrect name when it is auto-populated in the To: field.

Any ideas on how to do this? I suspect it would involve two different applications, but am not sure.

What are you ideas on how to solve this?

If you log into your gmail account on the web (not in Thunderbird) and mark email from that sender as spam, future emails from that sender shouldn't reach your Thunderbird in box.

Dear Whiz Kids,

In our home we have a number of different email addresses. When I open my outlook express it connects to my ISP server and downloads all our email from all email addresses.

Is there a way of downloading only email from my email address onto my computer, and my son downloading only email from his email address on his computer? Then downloading email from the remaining addresses when we want it>

In anticipation of a helpful answer, I thank you.

Constantine.

A:Separating Email Addresses

Constantine,I'm going to make a couple of presumptions here. First is that you know how to set up an email account in general. What you are attempting to do, is very feasible. The easiest way to do this is to open Outlook Express and go to Help>identities. Then create an identity for each persons email addy, following the directions in the help section. hthBe (Outlook Express) SafeDa Bleeping Animal

I highlighted ColA and tried to left justify the addresses but this didnt happen. We have to manually take out the space, cell by cell, on the left which is quite time consuming.

There must be an easier way using an excel command?

Hi all.
I finally found a thread that tackles my same problem. Unfortunatly its now closed and the end result of the fix Im unsure about.

Using Outlook Express 6 my address book has suddenly lost all contacts in the address book. They are actually 'hidden' as although they do not appear in the address book they are still in fact present. Now I followed a thread here wheer a coupel of members had the identical problem and I followed it through with the same negative results. I tried to import the original .wab file back into my address book. It showed thousands of addresses flowing in but no end result in that all were still hidden from my view in address book.

I see that the final thought seemed to be a limit on the volume of entries and after you get a 1000, bingo they all become hidden.....weird! anyway I have far more than 1000 but regardless of that I wanted to see if I too could delete some and see if they reappeared. The probelm is an obvious one I suppose..........I cant see them to delete them!!

I see the other previous members seemed to ahve shouted VOILA and did it........how? I cannot see my addresses at all in any format, I know they are there, when I search for them in the address book they appear but I cannot list them to delete any.

Truly going mad here guys...........please help

thanks

I had it working so that all my emails from various domains, were opend in express. now only the main ISP email works. test mails to myself via the other addresses do not reach the target.

for instance, on one domain I had "[email protected]" That directed to my main mail and in replying, I could reaply using that account.

The ISP said you can only have "our" accounts eg [email protected] I dont know how I had it set up but it was working fine.

New to Outlook XP. When i enter a name in to the "To" line, SOMETIMES it fills in the persons fax info instead of their email address. This is no big problem, but is there a way to configure Outlook, when addressing a new message, to only suggest/fill in, the email address of the contact?

A:Outlook XP email addresses

I have to deal with this situation all the time.

Outlook will show you all of the email addresses and fax numbers, etc., for a given contact in a list (Contacts or a file or folder which is a sub-folder or file under Contacts.

My solution, at work, because I need to be able to send: email, individual faxes, and use an email service to send broadcast faxes (faxes of the same content, like a Request For Quotation, to many6 recipients), my solution has been to create separate folders under Contacts. Then, in any one contact, I have only the email address or fax number, or email address for broadcast fax. In fact, I include only the fields in the contact that I need. So, in email, there is just the name and the email address. In the set of folders for broadcast fax, the contacts contain only the name and the emailaddress that the fax service wants. In the fax foldr, I use complete addresses, phone numbers, fax number (only one), but no email addresses.

This is, admittedly, a lot of work, seemingly a lot of redundency. But, then, when I need to send something, I have no doubt about what number or address I am using.

Good luck.

Hi all,

I'm new around here, and I was hoping that you guys might be able to come up with a better solution for something I'm trying to do that is better than what my friends and I have come up with so far.

I want to change email addresses (since the "old" or "current" address is one my school assigned, and I can now choose one that actually has my name in a recognizable form in it). The problem is that as soon as I pick out a new email address, my old email (let's say [email protected]) will no longer exist. There is also no option to forward messages, senders to that address will just get a "user does not exist message." Poor design, I know, but I have been told there is no way for IT to change this.

So, my question is: what is the best way to ensure emails still reach me? Those in my institution who use the Exchange server will note my updated address if the look me up, and the default send email client for professors, major advisors, etc all do a lookup each time, but for those users who have me on their personal contact list, or who are not in my institution, is there a good way of not missing emails?

Proposed solutions:

1) Set up a temporary email ([email protected]) and tell people that is my email address for now. Then use [email protected] and [email protected] until there is no more (or at least no more important mail) coming to [email protected]. Then change to [email protected] and cha... Read more

I have been getting these stock tout sheets from some greaseball---there is no way to opt out and absolutely no identification of anyone you can contact. I noticed that they seem to be creating phoney email addresses using legitimate domains---Anyone have any idea on how to stop this assault?

A:Fake Email Addresses.

Sounds like your mail program does not have a Spam filter....there are some things that you can try.

I use Gmail, has one of the best spam catchers I know of, since I've had it, that is all I use. You need to be invited to get a Gmail account. You can then use the Gmail address for any shaky or doubtful sites you have to register with, all their spam, if any, will go to Gmail and may be caught or you can adjust the settings to filter mail from them. Blocking whole domains can sometimes keep you from getting legitimate mail, however if you use a filter, you can prompt the spam filter to stick bad mail into the Spam folder and you can at least look at them and decide what you need or don't want to see anymore of.

You can read up on Gmail here> http://mail.google.com/mail/help/about.html

I have some invites, please Private Message me or email me and I can give you an invite. You need to send me a good email address with you real name.... that's the way it works, and, do NOT post that info into a Reply, you already have a spam problem and by posting your address you are giving it away to spammers. PM me with a non-Hotmail address to send you the invite, include a name also. Thank you!

I am running XP PRO with Outlook2003.

Previously, in Outlook Express when sending email you could type the first few letters of someones email address and it would automatically place it on the "To" line. In Outlook 2003 it finds the address in your address book but does NOT auto populate the address. You have to highlight it and click to get it to the "To" line. Is there a setting to make it work like Outlook Express?

I am trying to get OUTLOOK to autocomplete when I start to type in an email address like Oulook Express always did for me... Cant seem to find how to enable that feature... Any thoughts or ideas??

A:MS-OUTLOOK Autocomplete email addresses

I too have exactly the same problem, having had my computer replaced at work but with my address book and folders having been carefully transferred. The previous OS was Windows 2000 Professional. This one is XP Professional.
Autocomplete used to work fine, but now it doesn't and I've looked high and low in the Help files, on Google, and in this forum, but can't find anything to help.

A:How do spammers harvest email addresses ?

GOOD LINK. thanks!

the following was copied from the link above. the rest of the page is an eye opener.

Spammers regularily scan UseNet for email address, using ready made programs designed to do so. Some programs just look at articles headers which contain email address (From:, Reply-To:, etc), while other programs check the articles' bodies, starting with programs that look at signatures, through programs that take everything that contain a '@' character and attempt to demunge munged email addresses.

There have been reports of spammers demunging email addresses on occasions, ranging from demunging a single address for purposes of revenge spamming to automatic methods that try to unmunge email addresses that were munged in some common ways, e.g. remove such strings as 'nospam' from email addresses.

As people who where spammed frequently report that spam frequency to their mailbox dropped sharply after a period in which they did not post to UseNet, as well as evidence to spammers' chase after 'fresh' and 'live' addresses, this technique seems to be the primary source of email addresses for spammers.

I am using outlook 2003 with an exchange server. I have noticed once I email a person every time I want to email them after that I can just type the first or second letter of their name in and it will find their email address. A:Solved: exchange email addresses

It is stored in a hidden file with the extension .NK2. If you have your OS installed on C drive: C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook and look for the .NK2 extension with the extension view option on. You would have to have a file editor to view this file.
I found this one, but you have to pay for it, Ingressor.
Just found this free one NK2csv, but I don't know anything about either.

Hi

How does one print Outlook email addresses or save them to a file. I have tried so many things to no avail. As I cannot figure out how to back up the address book, I thought that saving the emails in file or printing out would be a work around solution to a back up.

Thank you!!!

I'd like to have a specific group of email addresses so I can just put the name of that group in the "To" field and the email is sent to all members of that group. I see others do this, but I don't know it's done.

Using WinXP

Thanks.

my computer does not take any email addresses for any web site.   I do not have any email address that I can use.
What can I do?   This is for my friend's computer.

A:why doesn't my computer take any email addresses?

Websites have website addresses, not e-mail addresses.

Ex.:  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/591747/why-doesnt-my-computer-take-any-email-addresses/

This is the website address for your topic.

You can save the website address by bookmarking it.  Then you can copy and paste that to use it, or you can just click on the address and it will open the website the address pertains to.

What browser are you using?
