Deleted my Favorites by accident

Q: Deleted my Favorites by accident

I was having trouble with Internet Explorer using Comcast e-mail, the Comcast rep instructed me to go to tools and delete browsing history, cookies and temp files, then go to advance tab and reset, I lost all my favorites is there anyway to recover them?

A: Deleted my Favorites by accident

The only way I know is to download and try this software and then just hope
Recuva or ShadowExplorer to try and recover them from the file's original folder.
You do not need the paid version

Hello, I recently purchased Dell XPS 8700 that came with a 2tb harddive formatted with GPT. The computer came with Windows 8, and I wanted to downgrade to Windows 7. However the windows installer wouldn't install on any of the current partitions, so I deleted every partition with gParted and proceeded to install Windows 7 successfully onto the one giant partition. Since I deleted all the GPT partition information (Idiotically), I am unable to make more partitions and dual boot.

So my questions are: Is my harddrive as of right now in MBR or GPT? And how would I add the GPT partitions back, as in the primary and secondary GPT headers?

Edit: I am attempting to dual boot with Xubuntu 14.04 and Windows 7 Professional, both 64bit and the computer has the UEFI, I think. Am I better off using MBR or GPT to dual boot? I only want two OS's and a shared data partition.

Deleting all GPT partitions is a recommended step to downgrade "Windows 8" as "Windows 7" is known to not much liking GPT based UEFI boot mode. Although "Win 7" 64 bit edition may boot from a GPT disk, i prefer MBR partitioning especially in case of dual booting with Linux. The only mistake you made here is not to partition the disk at the time of install. Fortunately you can split the single large "C" partition to two or three small partitions with the help of "Partition Wizard" free edition.
Download link : Best Free Partition Manager Freeware and free partition magic for Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Vista and Windows XP 32 bit & 64 bit. MiniTool Free Partition Manager Software Home Edition.
What you need to do is first shrink/resize "C" and create one or more new partitions using the free space.

There is a backup copy in C:\Windows\System32\dllcache

most of the time it is compressed in this folder.

Here is a copy of it from my XP installation (uncompressed)
See attached
You will need a XP install CD and use recovery environment to copy the file to the proper place, or use an Ubuntu boot CD to do it.

Here is an article on using a Ubuntu CD to copy data off an unbootable windows PC, one could also use it to copy a file to a Windows folder.

I have a 2TB external hard drive and a 1TB external hard drive.
I got a new 2TB internal hard drive and was installing Windows on it.
On the screen where it showed the connected drives, I stupidly forgot the 2 external drives were still connected. I thought somehow it was breaking up the new 2TB internal drive into 3 separate partitions. I clicked on the two external drives and deleted the partitions because I thought it would merge them. I DID NOT format luckily.
I am in the middle of running the Analyzer using TestDisk on the 2TB external. Since it is a 2TB hard drive, it is analyzing about 10% of the disk per day. So I guess it will take 10 days to finish. Small price to pay if I can recover all the data on these drives. One has all our home movies and photos and the other has all our scanned documents in PDF format. Sigh.
I am wondering if I am doing this the right way with TestDisk? Is there a faster way? When I deleted the partitions, the process took less than a second. The drives were partitioned to used 100% of the drive space. I read the page TestDisk Step By Step but still not sure if there isn't an easier way for my particular blunder. Nothing should be corrupted. Just deleted.
Thank you!

A:Deleted Partitions By Accident Please Help

Yes it should be faster. I thought there were two levels to the restore deleted partitions and only the deeper level involves scanning the surface for old deleted partitions.

Hey Guys I screwed up as follows:

I was fooling around with my graphics drivers and accidentally deleted them. A screen popped up to reboot the computer. It rebooted.

Now whenever I restart my computer, first a microsoft screen appears, then it appears to load but I have no on-screen visual as i get a monitor error message (Not Optimum Mode, Recommended 1920x1200, 60Hz), I am therefore unable to download and install any updated drivers.

What Can I do to restore my Drivers or at least get a visual to Re-install them?

I'm running Windows Vista, and one of the newer NVidia Graphics Cards.

A:Deleted Graphics Drivers By Accident

I believe you'd need to boot into safe mode in order to get the resolution down, or at least that's the easiest way I can think of. Boot into safe mode and allow as much as possible, try installing your drivers from there.

Ok, so i deleted the 'desktop' folder by accident from the My Documents window (or just above my documents folder)...

Now the 'Desktop icon' at the top of the folder list shows a different set of shortcuts/folders (incl. RecycleBin, Network etc etc)... the now 'yellow' desktop folder that is under the 'user' is messed up.

I've attached 2 screen shots because i'm sure my explanation is poor. Anyway, this is driving me crazy - can't figure it out. I've been messing around with it for hours - at one point i had 'desktop' with about 15 'desktop' subfolders......

But for some reason it doesnt look like my trash folders are synced up with my godaddy account?

But I looked for the email on the godaddy server & it wasnt in my inbox on their cloud mail client either?

A:Just deleted an email by accident, now I cant find it?

I don't know anything about godaddy, but do they have a spam folder? Chances are that it isn't there either, otherwise your client wouldn't have received it. Do you have the client set to leave the messages on godaddy? If so, either the client or godaddy is haywire. If in neither place, I would say that it is gone, unless you use a file recovery program to search for it.

I accidently deleted the Administrator file and need to know how to get it back where the Owner file is. I moved the file from the Recycle bin by click and hold and moved to desktop. I know I should have restored. Now it has the desktop as its routing (I can't think what else to call it). I can now log on if the error message that says "microsoft cannot log on" stays on the screen long enough to click OK. If the screen does not stay the computer trys to boot up (I guess) but will not do anything until the screen times out and I press a key; than the "microsoft cannot log on" error message will come up and I click OK. Than a screen appears that shows the Owner and I click on it and every thing works all right. I would apprciate any help. Let me know if I need to explain more.

The best place to start would be to visit the dell support site, navigate to your product page and see if you can download the latest drivers from there. Reinstalling from your recovery drive would probably overwrite a lot of files that you want to keep.

It didn't. So now those three folders lost their little special-folder images (as well as the icons for C:, D: etc under 'My Computer', and my VS is still the same. I'm annoyed!. Can anyone help?

Hi toybird

Sorry for the delay in getting a reply to you (been busy). Any luck yet finding a solution?

If not, try these for a quick repair
1) System Restore
2) Uninstall StyleXP
3) Run a Registry Cleaner (CCleaner is effective).
4) Reinstall StypeXP

. . . and anytime you have unexpected system behavior, run some malware scans to rule out unexpected visitors causing havor with your system files.
_____________

To try System Restore:
1) Boot your computer into Safe Mode (start tapping the F8 key as the computer is starting up, and select "Safe Mode" from the Boot Menu).
2) Logon as "Administrator".
3) Click on Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore, and select a restore point from before trouble started.

Try CCleaner to clean up
1) You can download CCleaner here --- http://www.download.com/CCleaner/300...-10315544.html
2) Run the "Cleaner" functions to clean up temp files & other accumulating unnecessary files. Then run the "Issues" functions to clear up problems in the Registry. Run the "Issues" functions until CCleaner reports "no issues found."

Guys I took a hard drive out of a macbook pro and placed it into a external enclosure. I connected it to my pc running vista and I was copying the files from the macbook pro onto my pc and by accident I hit the delete button.

The folder that I deleted is still in the recycle bin, well at least I can see it but the size of it is over 2 gb. I tried to just restore it but that is not working. Thing is I do not need the entire folder just maybe 100 mb of some files that are inside which is just pdf and documents. Any idea on what I can do? I have tried several different types of software and most will not work because I am guessing the macbook pro hard drive is a raw drive.

Yep so i was looking at my "bookmarks" aka Favorites and Everything is completely GONE.....OMG! im gonna die. i had like atleast 40 important saved bookmarks and it just vanished somehow. The only possible reasons i think would make this happen is..

1. last nite i closed my computer with the POWER OFF button. (closing it the wrong way) (correct way is start > turn off). Cause i thought i heard the garage (my dad comes home from work) so i turned it off the wrong way and ran upstairs.. lol.

2. recently like 2-3 days ago i dont remember, i updated something. I think it was extensions like Noia or something? Cause a little popup on the right corner kept popping up saying "updates are ready". so i did that

I dont know if system restore is possible? will it is but the last time i remember making a checked/save point was like ATLEAST a few weeks ago I even looked in my MozillaFireFox folder in program files, and there is no favorite folders. But in Document/Settings/My user, the favorites are there but thats from like 5 months ago, it only had like 15 (didn't match my favorites as of now)... if anybody knows how to get my Favorites back please let me know, i'd greatly appreciate it

A:HELP! My favorites have been Deleted!

Firefox does have something called a profile manager, though it takes a bit to set up, which allows you to set up different profiles so each user has their own preferences, ect. It sounds like somehow your firefox got bumped from that original browser and created a new one when it started up again. . Its' possible yours is still there.

I've known of several people that this has happened to under several different circumstances. Seems to be a glitch in the program related to the Profile Manager. The profile manager is an option you can set up, though it doesn't really seem to be known much or to be mentioned much on the Firefox website. Don't know why, as I find it very useful since my daughter and I have completely different tastes in browser looks and website favorites.

Anyway, once you set up the profile manager, you can then see all the "profiles" that are created. Your default profile MAY still be in there and you can switch it back to that one.

Okay, here are the instructions for creating a profile manager which will let you switch back and forth between profiles.

First, click on your existing firefox desktop icon and create a second desktop icon from it and name it "Profile Manager."

Then, open that icon and click on "properties>Shortcut tab>"Target" field. In the target field, make the path read like this: "C:\Program Files\firefox\firefox.exe" -p (So long, of course, that you have saved it to... Read more

Vista Home Premium - IE7 - nothing recently installed - zero problems generally

Hi ..

In a few quiet minutes I thought I would do some housekeeping, and with a way-long list of Favourites in the Fav/Hist pane I started going through the single-links first that are under the sub-folders I keep most links organised in.

Unfortunately I highlighted one of these sub-folders in error as I hit delete, and realised it just as it vanished from that pane taking possibly 100 links with it!

I checked in the Favs folder C:\Users\username\favorites as I was deleting those first few indirectly from the Favs pane, but of course the deleted folder was - still deleted!

I thought it might be in the recycle bin but it wasn't, then I used system restore thinking that might recreate my Favs list too but on restart it was still the same.

I ran an undelete which came up with 40,000 files (!) in a tree structure, but that tree did not include the Favorites folder so presumably nothing was found relating to that location ... but as I deleted about 10 individual links plus this folder I had expected the undelete prog to find at least a couple of those, so I am wondering if there is still a chance but I am simply not expert enough to interpret this?

Or alternatively perhaps IE additionally records/registers favorites elsewhere anyway perhaps, whether as a backup or simply *because*, from where I might be able to recreate the missing folder?

If someone with more knowledge than I h... Read more

Hi all,

Just wondering if any of you would help me rectify this stupid thing that I did yesterday

I use Vista Home Basic and out of nowhere I realised there was a 'Desktop' folder in the Favorites tab on IE. Since I have no need to have all my desktop shortcuts messing up the arrangement of my fave webpages so I went ahead and deleted it. Warning bells should have gone off in me head when File Operations was asking for permission but I persisted.

And now all the files that I have kept on my desktop are gone i.e. pics, pdf, resumes!! I have checked the Recycle Bin but they are not there either. I tried using a software that downloaded online -> WinUndelete but it made me more confused.

I have also tried the tutorials with the Registry thing but doesnt seem to work.

Can somebody kindly help me with this problem please??
Thanks.

I have been able to do this in XP but had no luck with Vista64. Apparently MS eliminated using real names of files after deletion or something.

I tried several recovery programs that do find deleted files in Vista but have no way of telling what the are. I tried recovering several to a Junk folder but they were unreadable and worthless.

HELP!

Accidently deleted a major folder under My Favorites in Windows Internet Explorer and want to recover them. So far, I haved tried the recycle bin, system restore manually dating it for two days previous to delete date, downloading several freeware recover programs. They seem to be limited to dealing with the items on the software program. The My Favorites was only on the Explorer Browser page. Surely, there is an imprint or someway to track and reverse the delete? Thoughts please???????

It's 3/13/2009 and I'm returning from a sevice call where the most
awful thing occurred. Computer was running slow. It had AVG v8
and Lavasoft AdAware and I ran a quick scan with SuperAntiSpyware
which came up clean. I uninstalled RegCure and Security Advisor.
I deleted Temp files and Temp Internet Files.

Upon rebooting the PC, and coming up to the Windows XP desktop,
a dos style cmd window popped up which indicated that hundreds
of files were being deleted.

Upon further investigation, I discovered that all the Favorites from
IE were gone and only the empty folders remained. Outlook
Express Email was wiped clean, all the video and picture files were
also deleted.
I'm currently trying to recover all the lost files using PhotoRec with
the hard drive slaved to another clean computer.

Question is, what caused this to happen?
Is this a Friday the 13th type virus or was it caused by RegCure or
Security Advisor?

i've been cleaning computers for many years and never saw
anything like this before that targets all your most critical data
and deletes it. Wow!!

Any ideas?

So I know I solved this problem once but while I've been away from the site these past couple months, it's come back. I've apparently forgotten how to deal with it, and I can't seem to find any other helpful posts. Speaking of helpful posts, I'm posting this under "Customization" in the hopes that no one will try to just yell at me to play with the libraries Microsoft worked so hard to get for me-- I don't want them.

You know the drill. I've deleted:
Contacts
Downloads
Favorites
Music
Pictures
Searches
Videos
(Desktop & My Documents I know to keep)
...and they keep coming back. These are the library things I'm talking about. I've already hidden the library part in the nav pane, and set up my own folders on my data d:/ drive with my own names, and created symlinks to get to them through my user account name.

How do you keep them deleted again???

User Deleted NTUSER.DAT File - How To Relink Favorites To Access Thru Internet Explorer Address Bar Once Again...

As it says, the NTUSER.DAT file was deleted. Although the favorites exist and are accessible using "CTRL + i" they do no longer appear in Internet Explorers address bar when you begin typing.

What pops up now is "download windows search to improve history and favorites" just below the address bar when you begin typing !?

I fairly certain this popup from the address bar is refererring to the new Windows Search? If so, it was not on the computer recently. It was tested and removed some time ago and the computer worked just fine without it.

Anyone have a solution?

I have a Toshiba Vista laptop with MSN as my ISP. For some reason, about a month ago I discovered I can't permanently delete bookmarked items under "Favorites".
I'm referring to the items not put into a folder, but those that I bookmarked to return to later, then decided to delete. They delete without difficulty at the time I'm instituting this procedure, but each time I start my pc and logon.....there they are again.
No changes were made to the firewall or anything else that I'm aware of. Thank you in advance.

When you click on a Favorite in Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 10 (1607), IE only opens a blank page.

We could narrow that problem down - it apparently only occurs if Favorites are redirected to a file share and Enhanced Protected Mode ist enabled.

It works fine in IE11 on Windows 7 though using the same configuration (redirected Favorites + Enhanced Protected Mode).

This is an interesting problem in that it is really only an inconvenience, but something I still have to address.

I have a few machines that are running IE7 (7.0.5730.11). These machines are all running XP Pro + SP2 with the latest updates, and my machine is running the SP3 (v.3244) release candidate. When you open the favorites menu by clicking the star, it opens just fine. However, if the person has a folder inside of their favorites and they click on that to expand the list, it delays for about 10-15 seconds before finally opening.

We recently migrated from an extremely old version of Norton Antivirus to Trend Micro Officescan, so I figured that might have had something to do with it. I disabled real-time scanning/firewall on one machine, and then completely removed Trend on another machine, but both scenarios did not fix the problem.

I've been googling this for a while now and I keep coming up empty. Any advice would be appreciated.

Just in case it helps, the machines in questions are all various Dell hardware models (Latitudes, Optiplexes, Precisions, etc.) with fairly similar components (Core 2 Duos, 2 Gigs of RAM, Nvidia Quadro cards, etc.)

A:[SOLVED] IE Favorites Problem - Folders within Favorites open slow

Well we figured it out.

In case anyone was curious, we had a shortcut that copies down in a login script for our accounting software that was pointing to an icon file on a server that no longer exists. The only way I know how is to place them in Favorites folder using File Explorer. That's actually for IE. Then import them using Edge.

I will try to explain problem again on the ie toobar ther is a gold star with the words favorite next to it then there are a series of tiny dots: on the right side of the dots there is a gold star with a green arrow on the star pointing right. If you are on a webpage you want to keep handy you can click on the word favorites in the above toolbar and below shows up a list of your favorites beginning the list is save to favorites next on the list is save to favorites bar, and this is where it stops working. As I stated I tried to copy my favorites list a couple of weeks ago and when I was trying to retrieve it also moved? lost the favorites bar. I had help getting back my favorites to the list attached to the toolbar but still cannot retrieve my favorites bar. see below the instructions I followed to do this successfully.

The difference I can see with the favorites bar is that when I look where it says below there is a picture of a file folder next to the words (favorites bar) not the picture of the star/arrow depicting the favorites bar.

Good morning,

As usual after 69 years on God's green earth I still mess up things without really trying.

I recently bought an HP p7-1157c computer with Win 7 installed. Somehow while I was moving files around I have created a problem with saving sites to individual folders inside my Favorites.

I can save something to the Favorites folder itself but NOT to any other folder inside the actual Favorties Folder.

From reading similar posts on this forum I think it has something to do with the Links folder. When I go to C:/users it has two folders. (Phil and Public)

The Phil folder has a 'yellow' lock on the folder icon. When I open the folder it shows a shortcut to Links as one of the entries. When I click on the Links short cut it shows:

Desktop
Downloads
Recent Places

When I open the Public folder it has about 9 folders one of which is called 'CyberLink' but it is empty.

Like the dummy I am I have been moving files around but for the life of me I can't tell you now what they were or where I moved them too.

I am hoping I can solve this without having to do a system restore. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks and regards,

2harts4ever

A:Having Trouble saving Favorites inside Favorites

Hi Phil, navigate to C:\Users\your user-name\Favorites there you should see your favorites and folders inside it.
Alternatively, in your browser's menu bar, click on Favorites, a window will open with 'Add to favorites', clicking on that will opens another window giving you options of where to save it. Also you can pick a folder you have made or create, and ma,e, a new folder.

Hi, I got a new desktop PC a few weeks ago and immediately cloned Windows to a (hybrid) SSD drive. I then went about moving the location of the Windows folders from my SSD drive to one of the other larger drives (using option 2 on the tutorial: User Folders - Change Default Location ).

Now when I select "Add to Favorites" from IE9, it doesn't do the add (or errror or anything!). I've tried doing a Reset of IE - but that hasn't helped.
Also worth noting that when I drag the link to the Favorites Bar, this works fine (so I don't think it can be a priviledge/read only problem)?

Any help greatly appreciated!

May have been some issue during the moving of the "Favorites" folder. See if restoring it's default location using OPTION TWO in the tutorial below will allow it to work properly again.User Folders - Restore Default Location
Afterwards, try moving the folder again being sure to not have the folder set to be shared with anyone first.

Hope this helps for now,

A:How do I export Opera 5.x favorites into IE 5.x favorites?

Read this - C:/Program Files/Opera/Help/bookmark.htm It says this at the very bottom...

Opera's bookmark file is placed in the Opera directory and is called "opera5.adr" by default, though you might
have another name for it on your system if it has been renamed. Please look for ".adr" files as this extension identifies bookmark and contact files.

Open this .adr file with WordPad or NotePad or any other text viewer and you'll see all your bookmarks. I'd just copy and paste these into IE.

Hope this helps.

That's not good. That's the main reason we tell users not to use this program on their own since it can cause damage. Do you have an older log of what you had before you did the fixes? If not, tell us what you fixed if you can remember.

Post your new log you have now and we'll take a look at it. What firewall program are you using?

I have used www.z-a-recovery.com a digital camera free recovery on the site and recovered 100 images off a CF card , so i know some of these work well

From a Elvandil Post
Here's a list. If the free ones don't see anything, forget the pay ones. I know Pandora is still around and has updated recovery software. And the other day, someone used the Disk Investigator at the bottom, which is meant to show you how much stuff is still on your drive after you thought you cleaned it, and they managed to get all their files back. Dr. Freeware is pretty new and updated not too long ago, with other useful tools, too.

Here's the list, anyway (I have more if you run out ):

Free recovery applications:

Dr. Freeware Boot CD (also has partition tool, drive cloner and imager)
DiskDigger & NTFSWalker
Pandora Recovery (Free for personal use)
Smart Data Recovery
Recover Files
Roadkil's Undelete
Recuva
Restoration
Free Undelete (NTFS only)
Softperfect File Recovery
ADRC Data Recovery Tools
Undelete Plus

PCI File Recovery
DriveRescue
Ultimate Data Recovery
Disk Investigator

Commercial:

O&O Disk Recovery
Paragon Mount Everything (Mounts any file system, CD/DVD burning, File Manager, Partitioner)

Ontrack EasyRecovery Pro
File Scavenger

I accidentally downloaded the incorrect student version from Digital River. I meant to go with the 64 bit but installed the 32 bit. I'd already done the install before I realized my error. I contacted Digital River and they are refunding my money for the 32 bit purchase. I have since purchased the 64 bit version but can't figure out how to install it. I'm getting an error message when I try to do the install. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I'm pretty confused right now.

I was curious as Malwarebytes, MSE, and even ESET didn't find anything like this, while SUPERAntiSpyware found adware but not these, though I'm not too sure: but I brought up start task manager and looked under processes and found two that weren't under my user name (just so you know, under "users" it's just me), and after looking them up on google, learned that they might be trojans. They are: csrss.exe, and winlogon.exe. Well, that last one isn't really a trojan, but wasn't under my user name so I brought it up here just in case.

I don't want to get in trouble, as I need to do some accounting-related stuff soon n my comp., so I need to know if they are trojans or not, and if they are, how to get rid of them right away. Any ideas, and could there be more? (Again, Malwarebytes, MSE, SUPERAnti and ESET didn't pick this up)

I went and inadvertantly disabled both monitors on my Ti4600 vid card. I just wanted to disable one as I thought having two caused problems using my mouse with the game Manhunt(retail copy). Mouse buttons worked but movement didn't.I tried three mice-optical,usb,ps/2 etc.I noticed the mouse cursor spanned both monitors during gameplay.
I installed on a slower machine (single monitor) and the mouse function as it should(ver slow computer though).
BACK TO ORIGINAL PROBLEM-I disabled one monitor, but picked the wrong one, went to disable the second and now I can't get any view of my desktop in order to re-enable them. Switched plugs, switched monitors et al.
PLEASE HELP WITH ANY OF MY PROBLEMS !!!!!!!!!!

Hello,

While I accomplished so much successfully setting up my computer in AHCI earlier, I now blew it all.

I had the SMART command failure error with my SSD, and received a new BIOS from my motherboard manufacturer. I applied it and "Loaded Optimized Defaults" in the BIOS as your supposed to. Stupid me, that means the motherboard activates IDE mode, but I installed Windows in AHCI mode.

So... I switched it back to AHCI after booting into IDE by accident and now I'm getting MBR Error. Is there any way to repair this? I have been trying to repair it through the Windows Install disk, using bootsec & command prompt to no avail.

Likely because where the screen pops up that says: "Use recovery tools that can help fix problems starting Windows. Select an operating system to repair" There's no option to select. So I elected to "Load Drivers" using iaAHCI.inf [Intel ICH10R] from the Intel RST installer (I extracted it on my Laptop). It still doesn't recognize it.
-->This is all pertaining to image 3. on the guide on the link HERE

If I HAVE to install Windows again, I have 2 storage drives installed as well, do I take them out to prevent them from being formatted? They are holding My Documents/My Pictures/My Music/My Videos etc.

Thanks!

A:MBR Error, After Booting in IDE (Accident)

Hello again.

You shouldn't have to reinstall, have a look at this tutorial at the link below, it shows how to enable AHCI after the OS has been installed and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

Hi.

I got an OEM version of Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit with my PC, which is capable of 64-bit.

I've read that the serial key is legal for either version, 32-bit or 64-bit, but the DVD I got only has 32-bit version.

How can I get a new DVD with the 64-bit version, as I got 8 gigs of ram and I can't use them.

I bought and built the computer myself and made a mistake when I ordered Windows, and asked for 32-bit because I was scared of compatibility, and I opened and installed it already, so I can't take it back.
Help

A:Windows OEM 32-bit bought by accident,need 64-bit DVD

You can try contacting whoever supplied you with the 32bit disc and explain your mistake... they may send you a new 64bit one... You may just have to bite the bullet and purchase the 64bit version...

I might have erased something on regedit that is preventing me from startying any app right now. The only way to get to my web browser is through the "run" option. When ever I attempt to load something, "mozilla, explorer or any other app" I get an error message:

This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel.

All this is due to a stupid adware they I cannot get rid of but some help would be nice. Thanks again.

I recently built the computer shown in my specs. I didn't get to joining the existing homegroup quick enough. My wife needed files from one of the homegroup laptops. Having not joined, my wife attempted it but ended up creating a new homegroup on the new build. When I go into homegroup (start menu) I don't have the option to join a homegroup, nor do I have one to leave the homegroup.

So how do I delete the new homegroup created, so I can join my established group?

A:New homegroup created by accident

What you need to do is remove each computer from the new homegroup.

Once you've done that, the homegroup will no longer exist, leaving you free to rejoin your original homegroup.

Leave a homegroup

Hello I'm not very clued up in VBA and tend to record macros and then tweak them. Today I used Ctrl-Break to stop a macro, but must have done something else accidentally as I have lost my VBA menus entirely. When I right-click the top of the screen all I see is Restore, Minimise and Close. The Restore Down button is also not working. I have attached a screenshot. I am using Excel 2013 and Windows 10. I have googled this extensively and tried many things, but nothing is working for me. Your help would be much appreciated as I have wasted half a day on this already and am ready to pull my hair out. Thanks!

PS I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Office and rebooted, to no avail.

I'm not sure how it happened, but I managed to perform a system recovery on my VAIO sz330p. Is there any possible way to undo this a get my system back to the way it was before?? Or at least retrieve some files I had on before? Unfortunately I never turned my system restore on because I didn't exactly know how to so I can't configure my laptop back to a specific date...

Is there anything I can do? If I took my laptop to a technician would he/she be able to undo the recovery?

Hi,
I was going to check if my external HDD needed to be defragged. I was in the wee window that asks about checking the disk for errors and decided to do that, there's always two options, one is always automatically ticked and there's another one that said something about find and attempt to restore corrupt files, that is never ticked and I never choose it, until today. All I noticed was it found 1024 files, and I clicked proceed, it processed or fixed etc and i went back to the pc after an hour and decided just to cancel as it seemed to be stuck at 2025 files checked.
Once i clicked cancel I couldn't get access to my external HDD and when I right on 'My Computer' it says it's NTFS files and is full but windows can't get access to it, i thought i'd try restoring it and i can see that out of the 1TB I have used 330GB which is what my disk was like before my mistake.
as with most people I have all my most important stuff saved there away from my C drive.
Ok, sorry for waffling on, can anyone tell me if I am able to restore my drive back to what it was (Would that have been FAT32 files?)
