A powerful tool for system migration! Paragon Virtualization Manager is a powerful tool to help you easily migrate a Windows-based computer to a virtual environment (P2V) of a major virtualization software vendor, regardless of how or where the computer is being backed up.
It also makes a crippled system, previously transferred to virtual hardware by a third party tool, 100% bootable.

More info and download here.

As usual, this free download is valid until today 12PM PDT (tomorrow 3AM ETD, 7AM UTC). You have to download and extract the installation packet as well as register to get the free serial before this deadline.

I was running the defragment function on my primary partition, which runs before windows starts up, and I accidentally shut off my laptop.

Now, when I try to reboot, I get the usual "Toshiba" screen, but it never gets to the loading windows screen.

Been trying to hit F8 to boot into safemode, but to no avail. Can I never access windows again?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I?ve already seen Paragon was giving Partition Manager Pro for free for a short while. I?ve downloaded and installed it successfully. Those who missed that day, can get it till October 25.
Here is the link: Paragon Partition Manager 9.5 As I can understand, they?ve just opened freeware downloads page. And sometimes commercial software will appear there for free. Very friendly I think for me it?s just like I earn 80 bucks for nothing (professional version of Partition Manager 10 costs $79.95)

So, what do we have here (taken from Partition Manager 10 site, but it works for 9.5):
Advanced Partitioning Operations: Enlarge NTFS partitions without rebooting Windows or interrupting your work, repartition hard disks without data loss, redistribute free space between partitions, merge two partitions to one etc.
Apple? BootCamp Support: Redistribute unused space between Mac? OS X and Windows partitions (great for me!)
Initial Backup Facility
Safe Defragmentation Mode
Etc.
Full feature list is here . The difference is that 9.5 doesn?t support Windows 7.
The program runs on Windows 2000, XP and Vista (32 or 64 bit).
And Paragon provides user support only for the promo period. And only on Twitter . No WinPE included.
You will need to input your email on registration page to get a free serial ? that is your only payment for the soft.

A:Paragon Partition Manager 9.5 Professional Free download

The difference is that 9.5 doesn’t support Windows 7.

Actually - they don't claim it - but it does support Windows 7.

I have been using for a while on my 7 x64 - it works perfectly.

It is exactly the same build as the PM10

The only you don't get - is the WinPE disc and Adaptive restore feature. Run off the bootable Linux/dos cd from within the program to get it in bootable form.

Terriffic opportunity to get a great piece of software - Paragon are the best in Hard Disk Management.

Hi, I?m about to commite suicide so I just wanted to make a final query before I do it.

I have a 320 GB western digital HD, it has windows 7 (x64) in one partition and data in the other.
I used paragon partiton manager to redistribute the free space (don?t ask me why didn?t I use the W7 features please). It did, but the partition with all the data was "not formatted". It showed the exact used and free space (so no data loss) but I couldn?t have acces to it. I manged to convert it to NTFS... still showed the right used and free space, but no luck having acces to the files.

So I used the W7 function to check the disk... and after it finishes it the partition with the data is empty, the OS partition is intact, but the other one is empty.

I tried everything, so I?m not actually asking for a solution, my question is:
Given the fact that I haven?t erased the partition or deteled it or have done anything other than redistribute the free space... will a professional HD recovery be able to restore the filesystem or the files?

Thanks in advance.

A:EMpty partition after redistributing free space with paragon manager

Use free Partition Wizard bootable CD which has helped with hundreds of complicated partitioning operations here without a single failure. Partition Wizard

First from the Wizards tab, run Partition Recovery Wizard to see what it finds. When you identify the lost partition by size and space usage, tick the box next to it and restore it.

If this fails, use the Data Recovery Wizard or Recuva data Recovery software.

In the future, always keep your files backed up externally and ask here for exact steps to repartition or "redistribute free space" (whatever that means).

I have downloaded Paragon Drive Copy and Paragon Exact Image recently under their free offers found elsewhere on this forum. They are both excellent products and I have now replaced Ghost and Acronis with Exact Image. Will be using Drive Copy too but not needed as often.

Today, found a link to get a free copy of their Partition Manager and went there right away. It was supposed to have expired earlier this year (April 2006) but I got a registration number right away with no problem. Hope this one is as good as their other software. Im in desperate need of help guys. I was using Paragon Partition manager to ``Install a new OS``. It deactivated all my drives including c:\ apart from partition D:\ which it made active and a primary NFTS partition and made me reboot. I planned to install my new OS but my CD was corrupt! I tried to log back in but i just got the message ``NTLDR MISSING``. I have played about with the BIOS setup, i even visited this site: http://tinyempire.com/notes/ntldrismissing.htm to try and create a rebootable USB to reboot my system and login. Thankfully, it worked, but after the windows loading screen it shows a message `autochk not found - skipping` then the screen turns blue and a message comes up with the error `STOP C000021a` appears. Thats the only thing thats now stopping me from loggin in to my computer. Can somone please help, i need your guidance urgently, thankyou.

A:Ahh! Paragon partition manager, NTLDR missing and c000021a error!

What was or is the new OS that you are trying to install?

When you used Paragon were you trying to make a drive D: to install the new OS on this drive?

When trying to install the new OS what drive did you try to designate and the install drive or did you just go thru with the default drive?

Hi Guys,
I have just used Paragon HD Manager v.6 to resize my partition on a WinXP machine and I have lost some space on the C: drive.

The setup was:
C: drive 24GB
D: drive 56gb

What I did was:
- Reduced in size the D: drive to 20gb, and dragged to increase C: drive the remaining space between the two partitions. Now the D: drive is 20gb, however the C: drive is in a mess, I still only have 2gb of space available, Paragon and System manager report partion as 55GB, however Windows explorer reports it as still 24gb with only 2gb free space.

How do I recover the space I just created? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

currently using Paragon HD Manager 2010 Pro and i'm curious about the Boot Manager feature that it has.

I currently have Ubuntu 10.10 x64 dual booted with my Windows 7 X64. I installed Windows 7 first, then ubuntu.

When i boot up my computer it uses GRUB which is the loader for Ubuntu, and i can select Windows 7 from this menu.

What i want to know is, will paragon boot manager basically do the same thing for me? I know GRUB is doing this for me, but when i update the kernel in ubuntu it adds un-needed entries at boot which is tacky and ugly and i dont like it and i'm nervous about configuring GRUB =)

I have my machine backed up so if i mess anything up, i'm safe. I figured i'd post my question here to see if i can avoid restoring from backup or maybe get some insight that will blow me away and make me feel stupid. -Fingers Crossed.-

This is an excellent program .

As well as the virtualization functions - it is a great Partition Manager.

It contains more functions than Paragon PM 2010 Free.

Definitely worth getting.

Create , Delete, Format, Move /Resize as well as well convert Logical to Primary and vice -versa, without data loss. Also allows resizing of an Extended partition. Partition undelete module included.

In addition , you create vhd's as well as mount them , perform partitioning operations, and access the files inside.

It also includes P2P Adjust ( makes an o/s bootable on new hardware ).

It doesn't come with a boot disc - you can easily make your own.

Easily migrate a Windows-based computer to a virtual environment (P2V) and vice versa (V2P). Work with virtual disks from one easy-to-use interface of Virtualization Manager, without starting a virtual machine: migrate from one virtual environment to another (V2V), exchange data between your physical environment and the virtual one, perform any partitioning operations and more.
Recover the OS startup ability after a system migration to a different hardware or unsuccessful virtualization by a 3rd party tool.
Virtualization Manager 9.5 Personal allows you to:

Special Edition of Paragon HDM 2009 on GOTD Today only.

This is a great app. , partitioning and backup all in one program . Particularly useful is the ability to resize Extended partitions.

It is a big download because it includes an excellent bootable disc.

As usual with Paragon , though you have t d/l the app. , and get the product key today - once you have them , you can reinstall as often as you like.
Unzip the large file, run the setup.exe that GOTD wraps it in - then it will extract the actual installer direct to your C drive ( by default - but you can change that).

Copy the installer and your product key somewhere safe - for future use.

It doesn't "officially" support 7 - but I have no trouble running using it on 7 x64. The partitioning rules for Vista and 7 are the same.

The bit that doesn't recognize 7 - therefore won't add it in - is the bcd corrector - which is in the boot corrector module on the bootdisc. You are not likely to use that anyhow.

I have a paid for version of Acronis 2011 True Image, a paid for version of Paragon Partition Manager? 11 SE Personal, but only the trial version of the Hard Disk Manager, and it's the 2009 version.

Two questions :-

Will the backups made with the 2009 suite be readable if I buy the upgrade to Paragon Hard Disk Manager 2011 Suite.

Secondly, I have seen on a Win7 video tutorial, that you can do a bare metal backup of the OS using Paragon Hard Disk Manager 2011 Suite, with Winpe 3.0, is this possible on Vista?

A:Paragon Hard Disk Manager 2011 Suite

It seems possible on Vista to do the bare metal back ups

Although Paragon is not mentioned here, it would be much the same

Based upon this detail analyis of the procedure, I see no reason why it cannot be done. That being said,I do not know of anyone that has actually done it.

Hi
Potentially really bad news here.

I thought I would do a backup boot n other partitions on drive 1 (Win 7 32bit) and used the One Button Copy Disk command on Paragon B&R 10 thinking it would copy to a previous backup. It didnt. It copied and (maybe) overwrote an active partition on drive 2. But maybe not...

When I look in Paragon the drive 2 overwritten just says its a basic hard disk 1 (ATA Toshiba DT01ACA3 SCSI Disk Device) of 3 terra and there is nothing on it. It also does not have a drive letter associated.

When I look on EaseUS Partition Master Pro Edition v9.2.2 I can see it all as Disk 2 with 4 active partitions and an unallocated space of 2TB.

This is where I might get out of jail -
When I installed this 3 terra Toshiba 7200 SATA I soon found that win32 cant handle anything over 2 terra with a MBR and that there is GPT to get all 3 terra usage. Tried that and I couldn't get it to work so I ended up reformatting back to MBR and made a partition of 2 terra (thats important for later on) with unallocated space of about 750Gb.

The little hope I have of getting back my files is this - seems Paragon Backup & Recovery MAY have chosen to make the 4 new partitions - cloned from the disk C/boot is on, to the unallocated space on the three terra - and those 4 partitions amount to 400 Gb. That left an unallocated partition of 2 terra, with no drive letter, no nothing - dead space I cant use. Im taking it to a pro shop for surgery hoping this -

Hello.

I have bought a powerful new computer preloaded with Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) and I would like to try and make future life with this computer and Windows 7 as easy as possible.

So I am wondering if I create a new separate d:\ partition and restore all my old and new programs and my data files to that d:\ partition, will all my own programs operate? For example, will Firefox operate if I install it to the new d:\ partition? And if I install Firefox to the d:\ partition will it install entirely to that new partition, or will it throw certain Firefox files into c:\windows or possibly other directories on the c:\ drive?

The reason I am asking is that it seems to me that it would be great if I could occasionally reinstall Windows 7 to the c:\ drive (after formatting the c:\ drive first). As reinstalling Windows 7 from the Recovery partition is so easy, it would be great to know that if Windows 7 becomes sluggish or develops problems at some point in the future, or if I just mess it up with configurations and I want to get back to the clean factory default, I could just reinstall it to c:\ WITHOUT losing all my own programs and my own data on the separate d:\ partition (of course I would always have been saving everything of my own to that separate d:\ partition).

What's causing me to ask this question is my recollection that back when I was using Windows 3.1, many years ago, a number of my personal programs (like Microsoft Word, for example) used to place *.in... Read more

Some will work if installed onto a drive other than C:\

Some won't.

In any case, you'd have to re-install them to make them work, you
can't just copy them over.

I keep the OS and installed progs/apps on C:\, and nothing else. All
my progs save to D:\ and not into the C:\ drive.

I then use Image Backup to create an image of C:\ on an external drive.

This is updated monthly, or whenever I make changes to C:\.

Haven't had to re-install from scratch for over two years.

Gday

I have emailed Paragon and am awaiting there reply, but you guys seem to know a lot more and try and solve the problem

Up to this point I have used either Acronis or Paragon for my backups, I prefer Paragon over Acronis, mainly because the restore by Paragon is far quicker.

I have both bootable CD's, but in this instance I would like to concentrate on Paragon.

I downloaded Paragon's Advanced Recovery CD. 2009 Build 6730. Put it in my rom and booted ....... looked at a black screen for 10 minutes. Removed it and rebooted, it got stuck at the loading of Vista, then I got another black screen no hard drive movement.

Rebooted again, this time with the regular Paragon bootable CD. It booted into the recovery console.

Now this is where things go from bad to worse. I tried finding my OS, after a lengthy period I received an error disk 2 i/o fault!!! ....... no operating system found.

Now disk 2 is my external hard drive where my backups are kept.

So I rebooted with the CD in, went into the recovery console and clicked on "safe restore", after playing the waiting game I get a message disk 2 i/o fault!!!.

Took out the Paragon CD, put in the Vista one, tried a repair, but there was no OS to repair .

So I installed Vista, and because I didn't want to have to reinstall all of my programs again (yer lazy I know, but that's what backup's are for).

Checked with the fresh install, that my two external hard drives, had there drivers and were present. They were ... Read more

I loaded a hard disk formatted as a Windows Primary Disk onto my SATA controller. The BIOS sees the disk. In this case I want to load the new disk as a secondary drive (of course I have booted with a different hard disk). I load the Partition Manager and inside I find that the partition manger does not see the new disk. I am wondering if this has anything to do with the new disk being a Windows 7 primary boot partition as well. I was hoping to get a drive letter mapped to it so I could extract some data from that disk. What should I be doing when this occurs?

Thank you...

A:Partition Manager. Primary Boot Partition as Secondary Drive.

Have you tried Disk Management? Right click computer and select manage, in the left column select disk management. In the lower portion of the window you will see each hard drive with drive letters. If you see one with no drive letter, right click it and select 'change drive letter or path, next screen select add, and pick whatever drive letter you would like from the drop down list. Once it gives it a drive letter, you will be able to see it in explorer. If you have data on the drive you would like to keep, Do Not format it, if Disk Management wants to.

As well, I've performed a full scan with McAfee and Spy Dr, plus AdAware and Spybot S&D, with the only results being a few cookies files that were normal, but I deleted them anyway. I'd like to ask for some advice. I would imagine most users of this forum keep their docs, music, pictures, video on a separate drive or partition from the op system. I have a nice new 1TB D drive for this purpose. What is the cleanest, easiest way to do this? What do you do? Do I actually each folder or move the user folder or just add new folders and attach them to the libraries?

Thanks much.

Hi.

My external hard drive, where Windows was set to save my personal files automatically, recently broke down on me so I have to find a new solution.

Instead of buying a new external/internal hard drive just for safeguarding purposes, I thought of simply creating a partition in my vastly -underused files hard drive (F), C: being kept exclusively for Windows and other programs. But that would mean that both my documents and their copies are on the same disk.

I'd like to know if that's a commonly-used solution and if it presents important security risks.

A:Saving personal files on same disk but a different partition

It adds little benefit and no real protection, although having only one copy of data on any device also adds no real protection either. The only real benefit to staring your data on a separate drive is it makes it easy to reinstall your operating system or move it to another system. It offers zero protection or security from any type of malware that infects data, or from theft, or from corruption. If you want to protect your data then you need multiple copies of the data on multiple devices and preferably at multiple locations. I'm hoping you are asking about a secondary storage, as in backup, an that you aren't or weren't storing a single copy of your data on external drive which are prone to failure and theft.

In the Techspot post detailing how to instal Win7 RC in 3 easy steps, http://www.techspot.com/vb/all/windows/t-120472-Dual-Boot-Windows-7-with-XPVista-in-three-easy-steps.html, the partition manager "GPparted" was suggested as a way to divide a partition where XP was installed, as XP OS doesn't have a partition manager that can do this function.

In my own case I had 3 partitions on my PC and had already used Vista partition manager to create a 4th partition for Win7. However, I'd been looking for a good freeware partiton manager for a quite awhile, and downloaded GPparted from the link shown in the post:

http://downloads.sourceforge.net/gparted/gparted-live-0.4.1-2.iso?modtime=1230460364&big_mirror=0

I then burnt the ISO file for GPparted as a bootable CD and ran it on bootup as a trial to create a 5th partition as if i was creating a new partiton on which to load Win7.

It created a new, primary, (unactive), parition OK, but when I re-booted none of my operating systems would boot except Vista. After a lot of failed attempts to rectify the problem, I tried to:

Use the Vista boot manager to delete the other OS paritions but it was not able to do this,

Re-load Acronis images of the inaccesible OSs but it could not load due to "partition error" message.

In the end, the only solution was to delete all partitions, including my 5th data storage partiton, (using XP CD parition manager on re-boot), before I could re-instal the Acr... Read more

Now I can do the shrinking but that puts the 7 GB into another partition to the right of D which cannot be merged with C as it is not contiguous which seems to be the case with the managers I've tried - Easeus, PartitionMagic.

Perhaps these operations are impossible?

Hi TommyK,

Vista Disk Management is good, but it is limited to not being able to work when unmovable files like Virtual Page File, Shadow Copy, System Restore, etc... are not allowing the partition to be created.

Other than doing what you want when reinstalling Vista, you will need to use a 3rd party program like Acronis Partition Expert in the Disk Director Suite. You can try a 15 day trial version here:

It works well for me, even recovering ext4 partitions. It can make a winpe disc for you - but like most of these things, you need to d/l waik for that.

Surprisingly, it is free for commercial use

Free partition manager download for managing your PCs and Servers.

They are also doing the pro version free atm - tho you need to twitbook , it seems.

A:Recovery Partition not responding to Rec manager

This works sometimes to boot into Recovery and do a Factory restore. 1.Right-click on "Computer" icon and select manage.2.This will launch the Microsoft Management Console.3.On the left side of the MMC, click on "Disk Management" and it will show you all of the partitions.4.Right-click on the "HP Recovery" partition and select "Mark as Active Partition."5.When the warning prompt appears, select "Yes" - Reboot and it will automatically boot into the Recovery Manager (without pressing F11).

How to delete Recovery Manager partitoin? After reinstall successfully, it reboots always to Recovery Manager.

Bios is setup with right order of HardDrive first. Tried Boot.exe too.

Is there a command prompt to delete the Recovery Manager partition? I can't get to my desktop.

A:How to delete Recovery Manager partition?

Why would you want to delete your Recovery Manager partition? It doesn't sound like the reinstall was successful, if your computer continues to boot into recovery mode. Did you use a recovery disk in this process and later remove it? Try booting up in safe mode. If that doesn't work, then I suspect your recovery did not complete successfully.

Also, you may want to try booting from USB and then accessing the hard drive to see if the integrity is OK.

I have a friend who has Windows installed on a 4Gig partition on a 240Gig hard drive. He has FAT32 with the 4Gig Windows installed on part of the drive and the rest of the 240Gig is NTFS for all the rest of his files. He cleans out the 4Gig one too often because it gets overcrowded and he wants to give more space to that FAT32 4Gig partition. I know that partition magic would be able to do what he wants, but I was wondering if there was a good free partition manager program that could do what he wanted. If anyone knows of that program please let me know

IMO, the best free software to do the recovery from a RAW disk is Test Disk. TestDisk - CGSecurity

It can be a little daunting for the first time user, and so take your time to read through all the documentation.

First use PhotoRec in it - which does not write anything to the drive in question - and try to recover the files.

Then you can use TestDisk and try to rewrite the partition. Some people have reported that even after restoring the partition with TestDisk, the drive remained RAW but they were able to recover most files using the option to copy.

Whether PhotoRec or TestDisk, it is going to take a lot of time to recover the files. Copy them to another external drive with adequate capacity.

You may find some help here to understand the usage.

I am using the newest edition of Easeus Partition Manager Home/Free edition and I am unable to add any space to the "F:\" partition. I have been able to change all of the others around just fine, but I cannot move the unallocated space into the F partition or even move F over to the left.

Windows reboots and goes into the manager as normal before the Windows boot and I always get a message that there is an error on the disk and Easeus cannot continue. And then it just cancels the operation.

I have some knowledge in the program, but I haven't the slightest why it is claiming I have an error, or what that error could be. If anyone knows of a way to fix this, I would appreciate it.

A:Easeus partition manager error

We do not recommend Easeus for Win7 as we hear regularly of total data loss on resizing operations.

The manager we recommend here is free Partition Wizard bootable CD which has helped with hundreds of partitioning operations here. Free Download Magic Partition Manager Software - Partition Wizard Online

Rightclick F>Resize>drag left grey border to take up the unallocated space, OK, Apply step.

hi all
im using easeus partition master pro to shrink the partition on an external hard drive but pretty much as soon as it started over an hour n half ago it stopped at 36%. ive checked in task manager n it says its running but the amount of memory isnt changing. its usually safe leaving data on the drive wen ive resized a partition before using easeus.

any help is much apreciated PLz. my new backups from a clean install are on it.

EDIT: i must b havin a lucky day or somethin. after reading that i would have to try n recover the partition i cancelled the resize n was about to get ready to start recovery. BUT to my suprise EASeus had done absolutely nothing and everything was the same as b4 i started. BUZZIN!

A:HELP EASEUS partition manager stopped

Use free Partition Wizard bootable CD - as we do for hundreds of complicated partitioning operations here without a single failure.

Easeus will fail with data loss. PW won't.

Hi there - installed the RC when it came out, and today I used the free version of EASEUS to add one partition. After the partition change, it rebooted and I got an error that said Windows detected some kind of problem (like a moron I didn't write the error # down) and that I needed to repair using the installation disk.

So I stuck in the 7 DVD and clicked on repair, which was the recommended option. Only other option was to start normally. After a few seconds of scanning it restarted, and I got the same error message, and again, the option to repair or to start normally. This time I started normally and 7 loaded fine. New partition was there and it seems to be working ok.

On the EASEUS forums, they said it should be compatible with 7. But they're not testing with the beta, and I guess the RC but I didn't read that.

Am I asking for trouble if I don't clean install 7 again, and just keep using the new partition?

A:Anyone with EASEUS Partition Manager problems?

I've seen very good recommendations for this freeware:
BEST FREE Partition Manager Software for Windows supports all 32-bit & 64 bit Windows No-server OS.

It's supposed to be a freeware knock-off of the old Partition Magic.

please let me know any windows 7 partition manager software? i want to create new partition with out data lose...

A:windows 7 partition manager software?

Partition Wizard is one that we use frequently without any problems.

Free Partition Magic alternative. Free Partition Manager Software for Windows 7/VISTA/XP/2000 and Windows Server 2003/2008/2000.

Note: You need to download the ISO and burn it to a blank disc, and then boot into it and carry out your re-partitioning from there. If you just download the application and run it from your hard drive, you are likely to experience problems.

my Western Digital HD came with a Data Lifeguard Tools diskette that can format and create partitions... but I want to try to create a new partition out of free space on an existing partition.

I cannot load windows I can only boot from diskette. even after running set up it says No Operating System. so is there a program I can download and save on a diskette that will allow me to manage my partitions?

through set up I was able to see the files and partitions still alive on the drive through DOS prompt (recovery console)

thanks
