0x643 .Net Framework Error... Can't install ANY net framework

Q: 0x643 .Net Framework Error... Can't install ANY net framework

Tried everything. From adding full user control to trusted installer and creator/owner in Windows/Microsoft. net and Program Data directories to therepair service verifier, making sure virus scanner is off, fixit solutions, sfc /scannow's clean bill of health, uninstalling a few upgrades mentioned with .netframe 4.0 and 3.5 etc etc. I get a fatal error if I try to uncheck .net 3.5 (the only version I can see since all other have been uninstalled) in 'turn windows features on and off), smartmsizap, msiinv, Smart boot(cold boot? with the startup items not checked and initial boot config). I think something is wrong here with either registry or program permissions because the initial 4.5.1/4.5.2 install zips to a random c:/ directory and then it asks me to find netfx_core_x64.msi which I point to in that directory, but says it is not the netfx_core_x64.msi that came with the installation.

As of current, I do not have any working .net framework which is bad because 1) some progrmas, ie video games require it 2) my schoolwork/development environments need it for things like Git

Another weird thing is although I manually installed net framework 1.1, only 3.5 shows up in the 'turn windows features on or off' and I can't 'uncheck' it or add the sub trees underneath it. Almost like it is not there but doesn't want to install additional componenets or be completely uninstalled.

I have the task of resolving a .NET Framework issue on a friends HP laptop running Windows XP. It seems that whenever the system starts up, an error message is displayed as follows:

hpqthb08.exe - .NET Framework initialization error. To run this application you first must install one of the following versions of the .NET Framework: v1.1.4322

I have tried to run MS updates and they fail due to this issue and when I try to remove it from the laptop I get a query for a missing file: s867460.msp. I've tried to remove it in order to re-install it thinking that the file hpqthb08.exe is somehow corrupted. However all de-installation attempts fail seeking the location of this s867460.msp file. I cannot locate a download for this file and at the moment have no idea where to turn.

Any ideas?

I have to install an application for a job and when I run it, .NET Framework 3.0 is installed first , but it fails giving a 1603 error.

I tried changing the Permissions from this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog\Security\ServiceModel 3.0.0.0 to allow Everyone.

I made sure no firewall or other registry program was running.

I also downloaded an application called Error Fixer, or MS-Fixer or something like that, which I read about on these fora, but that didn't work either. It only prompted me to buy if I wanted it to do something.

I also tried to open the exe file using 7-Zip, so I could manually install .NET Framework 3.5 (already installed) and the actual program I want. But that didn't work either.

I don't know what else to do, since the problem is the version of Framework that comes with my application.

Any help? I have Vista Home Edition 32.

Hi all
I tried out the RC beta of win7 Ult x64, and the appz i use daily worked on it. So I got myself a real copy of win7 sense I dont need all in Ult I thought save some ? and get Pro x64.

But This gave me a lot of problems with .NET framework 1.1 which I must use for the app "Magic File renamer".

When I try to install framework
Code:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyId=262D25E3-F589-4842-8157-034D1E7CF3A3&displaylang=en
I get this error:

Code:
MS .NET Framework Setup cannot write to the setup log.
It closes and I get an option "Install with recommended.." and I choose that.
and get the same error.

Try to install it with using "Run as admin.." and get the same error.

Sidenote:
I installed Pro in same way as Ult. using no specific accounts, just the default created by win. Looking in control panel it says "administrator" on me.

Cheers
Nico

The error is... unique. I can't seem to find a help page for it on any site, and nobody else seems to have... well... EVER had this error. So I'm just asking random people now, since I can't fix it myself. It will begin installing, and get mostly done, before it freezes up for a few minutes, and eventually backs out into an "Installation failed" page, with this error. I recently reformatted my computer, it's completely possible that I ****ed my drivers somehow when I was going through. I'm on 32 bit Vista. I get the same error trying to install versions 3.5 and 4. I've tried installing from windows update (which doesn't work either, probably related), I've tried the stand alone installer and the downloader/installer together. I've defragged my computer, tried installing service packs, which fail (probably related), I've done lots of random things I found on the Microsoft site to try and fix it.

Windows Update says I need to install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 . When I try to install it it says:

The following updates were not installed:
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1

So, I click on Start, Run, and type in installer. I find Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 RTL x86 enu, right-click and select uninstall. I get a pop-up saying " This action is only valid for products that are currently installed." So I right-click and select install. I agree to the licensing agreement and get the error:

Internal Error 2356. _2564_csc_exe_config_rtl_________.msm

Note: I'm in the process of re-installing windows. After downloading SP2 and then another 51 updates, I was downloading custom updates that included Windows Media Player 10, .NET Framework 1.1, an Nvidia codec, a GeForce 7600 GT driver, and a SATA Raid driver. During the install of these I got a blue screen (which displayed for about 2 seconds. I didn't get a chance to read it, let alone write anything down) and then a reboot. I went back to Windows Update and the above mentioned updates were all listed except the .NET 1.1 Framework.

Any help resolving this problem would be greatly appreciated. Even a nudge in the right direction.

Yesterday Windows Update offered me security update for .NET Framework 4 KB2572078 .

# The install failed and the cause might be:
1. i recently deleted C\Windows\Installer (not a smart move but it grew way too big )

2. some months ago had some Visual Studio 2010 uninstall problems as well (removed it with the clean up utility but i'm not sure it was done well)
## I already tried:
1. Uninstalling Framework 4 from Windows Add/Remove Programs (no luck)
2. using Windows Install Clean Up (no luck)
3. using .NET Framework cleanup tool (removed it)
4. cleaning with CCleaner for registry/temp files
5. Reinstalling it from Windows Update (no luck) & Manual Install with both Web and Standalone Installer full and client version. (no luck)
______________

### More Details:

-I still have Microsoft .NET Framework NGEN v4.0.30319_X64 and X32 services even if i get error on trying to start them "the system cannot find the file specified"

-On manual install, it rollbacks the progress during installation of .Net Framework 4 Client profile then i get fatal error and a windows setup error.
I attach the log file along with the setup utility log file, MSI log (.rar archive) and screenshots of the windows setup error and Event Viewer logs.

Hi, everyone. I'm new here but really hoping that someone can help me because I'm at my wit's end with this. My problem is that I cannot get the .NET framework 4 to install for anything.

On Friday night I began installing Sharepoint Server 2010. Below are the following related products I had installed at the time:

- SQL Server 2008 Express
- SQL Server 2012 Developer
- Visual Studio 2011 beta
- Visual Studio 2012 RC
- .NET Framework (All installed through 4.5)

I had a lot of problems getting Sharepoint to install since I'm on Windows 7. I ended up having to download the EasyScript on MSDN which appeared to finally work by installing all the prerequisite files that were needed. However, it installed Visual Studio 2010 Trial on my machine which then prompted SQL Server 2012 to ask for the Visual Studio SP1 before it would run. Thus begins all the frustrations that have haunted me this entire weekend.

I cannot get VS 2010 or SP1 to install for anything. It is giving me an error every time (error code 643 - .NET 4.0). I have tried everything I can think of at this point. This is what I have tried:

- All Windows Updates (Visual Studio 2010 SP1 keeps failing)
- Uninstalled all .NET Framework files, ran .NET Framework Cleanup tool
- Ran Microsoft 'FixIt' tool for MSI files
- Uninstalled all Visual Studio versions
- Tried installing standalone .NET files
- Tried reinstalling Visual Studio 2010

Here's a screenshot of the failed install on VS 2010:

dear sevenforums community,

i am using win 7 home premium 64 bit.
yesterday, i bought a new 3.5 external hard drive, inside it there is a dot net framework 3.5 installation package.
Not knowing that win 7 SP 1 comes from net framework 3.5 installed already, i double clicked the exe file from the external hdd.

and then i encountered the PCA (program compatibility assistant) notification, this program does not installed correctly thingy.

from there, i google and try to redo it from scratch, by which i mean i tried to uninstall the 3.5 framework from my win7.
and then i unistall it with .net fx cleanup tool from the msdn blog (http://blogs.msdn.com/cfs-filesystem..._5F00_tool.zip).

Now, i am trying to re-install the net framework 3.5 from the 231 mb full package net framework 3.5 i got from microsoft web.

now, this is the problem i encountered, when i tried to install it, i got "setup.exe stop working" or something like that,
below is the error report attached on 3 files.

My question simply is, how to re-install dot net framework 3.5 SP 1 on my Win 7 now that i had uninstall it due to my own stupidity?
thank you very much and have a great day,

A:dot net framework 3.5 setup error on windows 7? how to install?

Since .net framework 3.5 is included as part of Windows 7 I'd try to roll back my computer by using a restore point from a date/time prior to when the problems first appeared.

System Restore

If that doesn't work try repairing those sytem files by running a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two.) You already know the .net framework files are damaged or corrupted so the SFC scan should definitely indicate that problems were found. Run the scan 3 times and reboot the computer after each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

If SFC is unable to restore the .net framework files then option three shows how to generate a cbs.log and figure out what files could not be repaired. Once you get that information you could manually extract and install clean copies of those files from a Windows 7 installation disk.

Extract Files from Windows 7 Installation DVD

Personally, if running SFC three times didn't fix the problem I'd just go straight to a Repair Install.

as i tried to install the .net framework 3.5, i got an error just after finishing installing the programme. The instalation would fail just after finalising the instalation. I looked up for some common issues and i found out that the error might be caused by the microsoft framework 3.5.1 being turned off and so i tried to swich it on and off but after running the installer 20 times without success and uninstalling the 4.5 version, i dont really know what to do next in order to get no 'error in setup' using framework 3.5.1 being swiched on and not having any other framework (4.0/4.5) on my computer

Any suggestions/clues that may cause this issue?

A:.NET framework 3.5 sp1 unable to install 'error in setup'

Have you tried uninstalling 3.5.1 and then installing 3.5?

Is there a compelling reason to use .NET 3.5? 4.0 and 4.5 are much newer and are compatible with the older versions. Unless a particularly badly coded piece of software is demanding .NET 3.5, I would just let Windows Update take care of getting 3.5 into your machine.

I have a HP Media Centre PC (Pavilion a1550a) running XP with SP3. One of my games which I have run successfully in the past has stopped running. I need Net Framework 2 but when I download and run it, I get the following error:
"Error 1402 Could not open key HKEY_local_machine\softward\microsoft\windows\currentversion\shareddlls
Verify that you have sufficient access to that key". It then rolls the installation back.

I do have administrator access and checked that again tonight. I've looked at this in Computer Management and see in the Groups there is an Administrator and a HP Administrator. I think I'm the second of these, but in the properties it notes that both have complete and unrestricted access to the computer/domain.

I've lalso checked on the Microsoft site and they suggested that an issue might be malware etc and I ran the tool they suggested but it didnt find any issues.

I'd appreciate advice on sorting this problem out.

Thanks for advice.

installing, it gets near the end when it stops and comes up with the error code 0x800f0922. I went into 'Turn on and off Windows features' and it is listed there but unticked, when I tick it it starts to install then stops with the same message. I've tried
/scanhealth and /restorehealth on cmd but nothing. I downloaded .net framework 3.5 from microsoft but with the same error. I even tried putting my win7 disc in and doing:
DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /All /LimitAccess /Source:f:\sources\sxs
I changed the directory to my the correct DVD drive. It failed at 99.8%. In
my SkyDrive is the DISM log for it. I also tried the framework clean up tool but that didn't work either.

This has been going on for around 2 months and I still cannot fix it. Whenever I try to install a .NET framework version, it always fails to install, whether it's from Windows Updates, or the Microsoft website. I've looked all over to find a solution, and another forum said reinstalling it should help, but it only made it somewhat worse, since 2 of my games requires .NET framework (Space Engineers and Medieval Engineers). Hi I tried twice today to download and install the following updates, Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) x86. it is a large update taking approx 30mins to download the 248MB package. Both times it got to the end of the download and the next I got was a message saying installation failed. At first I thought it was Comodo BoClean so turned it off the second time but got the same result anyway.
My PC is an AMD Athlon XP2400+, 1GB of RAM running on XP3 and updated via Automatic Updates "notify but do not install". I got a MSN email notification on IE8 RC1 and decided to check my Firewall connection to Microsoft Update, where I was told that the mentioned updates were available and decided to install them though not IE8 at this time.

For real time protection I use Comodo CIS, Comodo BoClean and SpywareBlaster. I switched off BoClean the second time and set CIS to installation mode both times. I cannot see anything else on my PC which could hinder the installation process. In my Add/Remove program list I have Microsoft .NET Framework versions 1.1,1.1 Hotfix, 2.0 Service Pack1, 3.0 Service Pack1, 3.5, Should I uninstall these before installing the latest version or should they all remain on my installed programs?. I would appreciate it if someone could offer some help here as I like to keep my PC up to date.

I haven't downloaded this update as I have dial-up and it says 26-48 hours to update this. Also, I had to reformat my computer three times with the SP3, even downloading from disk instead of internet - so scared to download Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) x86 as don't want to have to reformat (and also don't want my computer running for 2-3 days to download).
Are there problems with this download like there were with SP3 (I ended up never being able to have a working computer with SP3)? Do I need this update? Will there be problems if I download from internet, and if not any other ways to update this (for free)?
Thank you.

Question:
After installing this, I notice from Control Panel/ Add_Remove Programs , that there are any number of previous versions of .Net Framework and similar named programs

?? How many of these must I keep ( or which may I remove ?? )

Hello dear community,
I have now tried to install .NET Framework for several months, but nothing worked for me. I used the following methods:
- Installing it offline via "dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3 /All /Source:F\sources\sxs /LimitAccess", and yes, this is the directory where the folder is. I also ran cmd.exe as an administrator. It instantly goes up to 99.8%, stops
for about 10 seconds, and then returns the error. Here's a screenshot: http://prntscr.com/1eh1x1
- Enable it with Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn Windows Features on or off -> .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)
- Typing "lodctr /r" into administrative cmd.exe and tried the step above again

Here's my DISM log-file: http://www.mediafire.com/view/j71dpfqf47uif5i/dism.log

I really hope than you can help me.

Regards,
Nick

Ok, sunk a couple hours into what the problem is, unfortunately I cannot work out how to fix it short of reinstalling my operating system (If I take it off, I refuse to put it back on, to many headaches already).

Basically I needed to update to .net framework 4, and my system lied and said it was done successfully. I then tried to update to XNA framework 4, and got;

"The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2908"

Followed by;

"An error occurred during the installation of
assembly 'microsoft.xna.framework.avatar,fileversion="4.020823.0",version="4.0.0.00000",culture="neutral",pub licKeyToken="842CF8BE1DE50553",processorArchitecture="MSIL". Please refer to help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x8002802F"

Which, when I googled it, told me I wasn't alone at least.

I started looking at the 2908 error and found a few links to the Microsoft answers page, an answer and a line of people basically saying that the answer did not work. Rather than including myself in their number, I kept looking, and found the sfc/scannow command (Which refuses to run,"windows resource protection could not start the repair service"(Why don't these messages ever tell me <WHY>?)), and at Microsoft XNA Framework 4.0 problem | Terraria Online

I just finished a 69mb download for .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update For .NETVersions 2.0 thru 3.5. This update also added an addon in Firefox named Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant 1.0.Does anyone have any comments on whether to allow this addon or not? It can be disabled. There are 2 options in the addon. The first option is to prompt or not to prompt before running Click Once Applications. I chose PROMPT. The second option was to Report All Versions of .net or only the latest version. The default is to report onlythe latest and I left it like that. What the heck are Click Once Applications? Just a note to anyone reading this and haven't installed this month's Windows Updates. This update is notan "unattended" update for everyone. My ZA firewall asked me for permission for two different elements to access the net half way thru the install process. I also noticed even after Windows said to reboot to complete, there was still a lot of processor activity for 2 or 3 minutes.EDIT:I found the info I was looking for in Wikipedia. Anyone else interested, here is the link.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ClickOnce

A:.NET Framework and Firefox Addon .NET framework Asst. 1.0

I chose not to allow it (I don't use Firefox, IE is fine with me)...I'm not crazy about unnecessary browser addons or "assistants" of any type.

I believe that these are unnecessary for anyone who knows how do the basic things on any PC, I think they are created for users who are less than knowledgeable.

I need to install the .Net framework 3.5 sp1 on Windows 8.1 for Autodesk 3ds Max for work. I initially noticed this in the Max installer...just quit installing and says I need to connect to the internet. Of course I am connected just fine. Tried Windows update, gave me this error:
0x800F0906

Went to the microsoft site for that error, and nothing helped.

Tried enabling .net 3.5 from the features menu, but got the same Windows Update "connect to the internet" error.

I tried using command prompt to do this command: Dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3 /All /Source:E:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess

That did not work, even with the installation media inserted, CMD gave me error 0x800f081f saying it could not locate the files on the Windows 8 installation disc (YES I DID INSERT THE CORRECT DRIVE LETTER)

I even copied the sxs folder directly to my C directory, directed the command to the folder itself and it still gave me the same error. The only thing I can think of to actually make that command work is if I had a Windows 8.1 disc instead of 8.

I've tried downloading multiple "offline" installers for it, but they all do the Windows Update crap that got me into this in the first place.

I hope someone can help because I have tried literally everything I have been able to find online and my computer just refuses to install this .net framework.

Thanks, everyone

Alright, this is my first forum post ever. Usually I can find solutions to my problems by lurking, but not this time apparently.

So my problem is this: I'm trying to install "Remove Empty Directories" (Remove Empty Directories | SourceForge.net), but .NET Framework 3.5 is one of its dependencies. The installer for RED downloaded .NET for me and attempted to install it, but it gave me an error saying that I can only install it through the Turn on or off Windows Features dialog. Well, I go there and the Microsoft .NET framework 3.5 isn't listed. Then I downloaded the .NET install and attempted that, but it told me the same thing about using the Windows Features dialog. I ran a .NET cleanup utility thing and repeated all the above steps but received the same results.

When I installed Windows I customized my install and I may have gotten overzealous with "streamlining" my install. It's been over 6 months since I installed Windows so I don't remember all the details of what I did, but this is the first time I've seen any negative result of my stripped down version.

Has anyone had a similar problem? What can I do to fix this?

A:.NET Framework 3.5 won't install...

I am having this bizarre problem when I try to install net.framework 3.5. I have tried to install it a number of times with no luck, and when I try to check the error log nothing comes up. I googled the problem and made sure there were no obvious problems (e.g. - IIS is activated). I tried to install using the more comprehensive "dotnetfx35.exe" install file. That when I realized it was extracting to another partition which was not even on the same hard drive!! I thought maybe it was because I was installing from a partition other than C, so moved the file to C & tried again. Same problem, except this time it extracted to yet another partition, again not even on the same hard drive. I have not had this problem with any other version of net.framework. I am running XP Pro SP3.
Thanks

So the main question is why won't net framework 4.5 install and do I need it? I so wish I had nerver installed that google drive as I think getting it all removed is part of the issue?? Canon support is at a loss and I am at a loss on what to do.

Look in your control panel, uninstall programs, and tick the show windows updates thing so you see all the windows updates. See if you have that installed, (but it could be corrupt). Uninstall it, then manually ask Microsoft about updates available and they may have severl Net Framework's to install. Do them in their order. In fact do all the suggested updates from Microsoft.

Hi, all. Looooooong time lurker.

Okay, I have a desktop with XP SP3. It has lots of BSODs. IRQ, Memory management, bad pool caller, etc. I was installing a ATI driver to rule out the driver and it said that I needed NET Framework 2.0 to run the program. Finally, I ran memtest and figured out that I had a bad stick of RAM. It's out of the computer now.

So, I can't install .net Framework at all. 1.1, 2, 3, 3 sp1, or 4. I have deleted them manually (although mscoree.dll wasn't there) by doing the long MS solution that is out on the web. I also found and ran the net framework cleanup utility and rebooted.

Here's the message that I get when I try to install 1.1.

Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.Vsa.Vb.CodeDOMProcessor,Version="7.0.5000.0"'PublicKeyToken="b03f5f7f11d50a3a",Culture="neutral",FileVersion="7.10.3052.4'".
Please refer to Help and SUpport for more information. HRESULT:0x80070003

I've googled this and I have not a clue what to do next. Please help?

A:Can't install .NET framework

Given the history of bsod's I'd love to suggest a clean install, but I know that's very inconvenient for most people. Alternatively, let's try a repair install. Boot to the XP Sp3 CD and choose the SECOND repair option, allowing XP to install on top of itself. After completion you'll need to go to Windows Update and download & install all updates (except for hardware & driver related updates, which should never be downloaded from Windows Update - only from the OEM websites). Here is a clear tutorial on how to perform a repair install: http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/138-how-to-repair-windows-xp/

This may or may not fix your problem, but it won't hurt.

Hello there,

I cannot get .net framework 3.0 to install on my computer. Every single time I try to install it it says: an error has occurred during setup and setup is removing all installed files.

I have tried to download the second version first and that didn't help any. None of the versions are on my computer and it is still not working.

I have Windows XP and Internet explorer 6

I clicked on the error log and this is what it said:

Is this the blog you followed? http://fulopmihaly.wordpress.com/200...-on-windows-7/

If so, you may be able to fix your problem by running the command prompt in adminstrator mode.

I.E. Start > "cmd" in search box > Right Click cmd, Run as Admin...

Also, be sure to type out commands and not to copy/paste them. Certain special characters can be imported incorrectly via copy/paste.

I am running Win.7 64 bit and need Net Framework 1.1 to run Print Shop 23. Net. Framework won't install because of 64 bit. I have done a lot of research and found out how to do it. Create a new folder named DotNetin C:\ drive (C:\DotNet is used in this guide, you can change to any folder you prefer, but ensure that you use correct path in the following steps). Download Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Redistributable Package (dotnetfx.exe ). Make sure the setup file is saved asdotnetfx.exe . Download Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (NDP1.1sp1-KB867460-X86.exe ). Make sure that the file is renamed and saved asdotnetfxsp1.exe , so that the rest of the steps can be followed easily. Move both installation files into the same directory (i.e. C:\DotNet), if you?re not saving them together. Open command prompt as Administrator . Change to the directory where the two installation setup files for .NET 1.1 are saved (i.e. C:\DotNet). Run the following commands one by one, press Enter after each one. dotnetfx.exe /c:"msiexec.exe /a netfx.msi TARGETDIR=C:\DotNet" Then click on ?Yes? when prompted to answer ?would you like to install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1. Package?? dotnetfxsp1.exe /Xp:C:\DotNet\netfxsp.msp msiexec.exe /a c:\DotNet\netfx.msi /p c:\DotNet\netfxsp.msp I have tried this and so far I can't get it to work. I am doing something wrong. Please help.

A:Install Net framework into Win 7 64 bit

I have created a folder named (DotNet) in C. If I go to (My Computer) click on C drive, there it is. The folder contains (dotnetfx.exe) and (dotnetfxsp1.exe). I have tried to run the command in the Command prompt and it won't run. I opened the Command Prompt as Administrator but I don't know what to do when it says (Change to the directory where the two installation files for Net 1.1 are saved).

I have a program I am trying to get installed that requires .NET Framework V 1.1. For some reason this program seams to only require the 1.1 version. I actually have newer version 2, 3, 2.5 on this system but not the 1.1 version. Every time Ive tried to install it, it errors out with ?An error occurred while windows installer was initializing, set up will now close.?

I tried uninstalling all other version of the Net Framework but windows will not allow any of them to be uninstalled.

Any input on how I can get this 1.1 version installed?

Ok, this is driving me completely nuts - Have been trying to install .Net Framework 4.0 on my laptop for about a month now. Have read a ton of articles, blogs and other questions/solutions from other users having the same problem, but am still no further forward.

The repair tool from MS fails, then hangs while collecting files, but have managed to use the cleanup tool and create a VSLogs.cab file - as recommended in many other posts and blogs etc. Have just uploaded this to One Drive - Have never used this before so am not really sure what I'm doing - but think the correct link to it is

Update - Have now uploaded my System Info, Application and System logs to One drive as well, after reading another troubleshootin post where the expert asked the guy for these too - Hopefully someone can now give me some clues as to what the **** is going on!

The most common error I am getting is that "another installation is already in progress" - Even after performing a clean boot. I have run SFC and get "No Integrity Violations" - which I take as being MS speak for there are no corrupt system files! When I try  to run the "System Update Readiness Tool" KB947821 It fails and closes with  no error codes!

I can usually sort out most PC problems, but this one has got me so confused I feel incredibly stupid! Anyways, hopefully a wise one can help me with this - I can install any other program that doesn'... Read more

Hi, everyone. I've been trying to do this for hours to run a program that needs it and I'm about to lose my mind. On my 8.1 laptop, I run a program (.exe) that tries to install ".NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)". Well, it only ever leaves me with this message:

I've tried so many things to make it run that I have no idea what to do anymore. The exact same program runs perfectly fine on my windows 7 desktop, and it is supposed to be fully compatible with 8. Can you guys please help me out?

I have a program which requires Framework 4 so I suddenly find myself needing it. I tried installing it through a Windows update but it does so unsuccessfully, saying it didn't install correctly.

I went to manually install it at Download Details - Microsoft Download Center - Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile (Web Installer) and a few other locations... the installation bar always loads to about 20% then it gives me an error saying "installation did not succeed" with "fatal error during installation" being the reasoning. I checked the log file and pasted it word for word below and if anyone has any feedback or help I'd REALLY appreciate it. Thanks so much:

More and more I am finding that things do not work quite right on my XP MCE 05 edition (2.5 ram), I am thinking this is because of my out of date net.framework, still using 1.1. I have tried updating a few times first about 3 years ago and most recently 3-4 months ago when at least 2.0 was needed for a Kodak gallery update. The problems with the framework updates for me is after I am done I find out sooner or later that my computer no longer recognizes that I have 2 optical drives installed so they can not be used and I end restoring to a time before there installation. I?ve been researching the process again and some of the things I found are:

1) install 2.0 then 3.5
2) install only 3.5
3) uninstall 1.1 then do 2.0 and 3.5
4) uninstall 1.1 and install 3.5 only as it supersedes 2.0

Which is the best case scenario of the list and is there a net framework clean up tool or something like that.

I have just bought a brand new windows 8 tablet 8"

I am trying to install NET FRAMEWORK 3.5 without any success. I have tried all the usual methods, googled till my hearts content and pulled my hair out for a number of hours now. This is why i never upgraded my W7 main computer to W8 or W10 it is just awful. Anyway i am stuck with this windows 8 tablet and i need some help please.

There seems to be 2 solutions to it.

1. Delete a couple of windows updates which cause this problem.
= This is NOT possible on my tablet as there is no option to uninstall any of the pre-installed updates.

2. Run a specific command and point it to a windows media CD.
= This is NOT possible as you cant insert a windows disc into a tablet. The internal HDD size also wont allow a virtual mounted media either. Plus i don't have any of these available.

So how on the living earth do i get net framework 3.5 installed on a windows 8 tablet?????

Thanks

Sorry if this is not the right place to post this.

Well, I can't install .NET Framework 3.5... First I downloaded the 2 MB file from the Microsoft site. I runned it, and where it says "Download File Size" etc., for me it said 0 bytes, 0 Min. I still decided to go on and check what happens, and I pressed Install. The download bar filled up in less then a second. Then the install bar got filled up in a second or so, and this popped up:

No error code, nothing, just says "Setup Error", as you see.

I tried downloading it again, but same thing.

Then I thought maybe it's because the download isn't good, and I downloaded the full installation (about 200 MB). I runned that, and everything is the same, except for: 1) File size is now 111 KB, 2) The installing bar takes about 5 seconds more. And then the same "Setup Error". I runned the installment again, but now I had options to "Uninstall" and "Repair", which means it's installed. So, I went to check the Add or Remove Programs, and I saw it's installed.. I uninstalled it, but it stayed in the Add or Remove programs. It was about 20 MB, so that's not right, and every time I try the setup again, it increases. Like for example, currently it's 42 MB. Also, I can't remove it...

EDIT: I used the Perfect Uninstaller to uninstall it, and it worked. But I'm still getting the Error problem though.

A:Can't install .NET Framework 3.5

Download and run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utlity and find that and remove it.

Reboot and then try an Add/Remove uninstall again.

If this doesnt work out,

A:an app install net framework do I need it?

If Bill Gates gets his way, you will have to have a version of .NET for most programs to work properly. Critics suggest that this is one more step in his bid for World domination!

Whatever, have a look at this Wikipedia article;http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.NET_Framework (and bear in mind that anybody can contribute to, or amend, Wikipedia, so it isn't guaranteed to be accurate). If this is an accurate description of .NET, you may draw your own conclusions from the fact that it seems to be a 'joint venture' between MS, HP and Intel. All of them known for their care and concern about the users of their products, rather than the health of their profit margins.

I don't have any version of .NET on my XP Home computer and have no intention of ever installing it because I'm an ornery cuss that would rather do without a program that demands that I should use it!

Vista users may not have the option if it has been optimised to work with .NET.

My Windows XP PC continues to download .NET Framework updates. When I attempt to install them, they fail.
Here are the updates that fail to install:

Update to .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 for the .NET Framework Assistant 1.0 x86 (KB963707)
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 Update for Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP x86 (KB982524)
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update for .NET versions 2.0 through 3.5 (KB951847) x86
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 Security Update for Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, and Windows XP (KB974417)

I read everything I could find online about this issue, but am unclear as to best way to proceed.
Any help?
Thanks.

A:.NET Framework fails to install

Current install could be damaged.Using Add/Remove Programs...I would uninstall all items reflecting MS.NET versions 1.0 thru 3.5...then I would install only 3.5, SP1.http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=enThen...I would go to Windows Updates for security updates related to such.Louis

My PC keeps trying to install the .Net Framework 1.1 update (KB953297) but it keeps failing. The Update is it says that fails is:
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 Security Update for Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2 (KB953297)

I recently cleaned some malware, rootkit and hijacker stuff off my PC, so I'm not sure if that could have caused this update to keep failing.

Note: I know there are newer version of the .Net Framework but my PC doesn't seem to have them installed (my Add/Remove programs only shows the Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1. However, I do remember it showing the 2.0 and the 3.X (can't remember if it was 3.0 or 3.5) before. I ran a dotnetfx.exe (from microsoft) that removed all the .Net stuff from my PC, so it removed all versions. Since then, automatic updates isn't picking up the other .Net Framework versions (it's only finding the 1.1 version update).

Anyone have any thoughts on how to get this update to install? Or do I even need 1.1? Could I just install the newer versions (and if so, how do I do that)?

Re .Net Framework problemsThis topic probably covers all your questionshttp://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/264765/security-update-kb953297-fails/Worth reading, may help.FYI - The following are now installed on my computer:Version 2.0Version 3.0Version 3.5 SP1Version 1.1 does not seem to be necessary and when it is offeredas an update, if it will not install, you can select 'Don't show this update again'.No program has called for the 1.1 version; until that happens, I regard it as unnecessary.Uninstall other versions first.Install:cumulative update for .net framework 3.5 SP1http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=enYou should then update through Windows Update.

Hi moddman

What version of XP do you have installed now
Do you have XP SP3 . The updates for .net framework should be up to 4 by now .
.net 3.5 is required for several operations on your system

Thank You

I am developing a set of tools in Microsoft Visual C# 2010. I absolutely hate the Microsoft publishing tools in it so I want to create my own installer using Inno Setup. The problem is that most of the target audience for these tools do not even know what .NET Framework is, so I need to be able to launch a silent install in case they do not have it. How can I do this? Are there arguments that can be passed to the redistributable?

A:NET Framework 4 silent install

Hmm....this might work....add these to the redistributable's exe....

Code:
/install /x86 /x64 /ia64 /parameterfolder Client /q /norestart

Hi, All!

My first post and with all due respect, I will make a more formal introduction to the Introduction forum.

I was in the process of installing .Net Framework 2.0, precursor before installing SyncToy 1.4, when I received the following error message:

Error 256015.Failed to install assembly 'C:\ . . . . /System.Web.dll' because of system error: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

I looked on the web for a solution and nothing I found matched my problem, tried what I knew and still unable to install. SyncToy is still waiting in the wings.

Any help, solution or better yet, suggestions to what to look for/look at, under the hood to fix myself, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Yours truly,

A:Unable To Install .Net Framework

Download Belarc advisor from www.belarc.com, then look at how many microsoft downloads, if any, are missing in its inventory. Sometimes one of the automated Microsoft downloads becomes corrupted... when then blocks everything thereafter.
Let microsoft scan you computer for Windows Updates, after a cold boot.
