drag the DMP to desktop zip and upload from there

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
OK your way out.
Reboot if changes have been made.

Hello Team,

My treasured soul-companion lives in the UK, and at this stage this is an initial enquiry on her behalf, so that I can advise her on best options. Of course I will be giving her every encouragement to join the happy band at Seven Forums, and I'm certain she will.

I believe that the laptop she's experiencing difficulties with is an Acer Aspire 5733 Core i3 Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit).

She had experienced a number of instant 'data protection' shut-downs over the past 3 days, however, last evening [about 15 hours ago] a full-on BSOD happened. Prior to the BSOD event happening, she had been working her way through a number of various methods of initial investigation to try and determine where her problems might be, for example Scannow, Check Disk and System Restore etc., but now with the BSOD, it's apparent that more aggressive tactics are needed.

So that I can give advice about the best options open to her, I need to know which of the Dump files types from here is best uploaded to the Forum for evaluation. As I see it, she has a choice of two;
Small Memory Dump [Minidump] File on BSOD, or
Kernel Memory Dump File on BSOD
So, which of the above two is preferred?

Your assistance will be most appreciated, and any advice passed on.

My treasured soul-companion is slowly but surely harvesting the crop on her head, and I'm not too keen on bald-headed pates .... mine's bad enough.

Tony, and the Sepoys

Hi Tony,

You need her to reconfigure windows to collect the correct info.
You want small memory dumps - "MiniDumps" for analysis

And here are the instructions for posting:

Hello.

I have a HP 7470n Media Center PC running Windows XP Media Center edition.

My computer is protected by Zonelabs Zone-Alarm and Webroot Spy Sweeper.

I am unable to upload files to the internet from my computer....no matter the file size.

I have tried using in-browser uploads (from Firefox, Internet Explorer and Netscape) and stand-alone programs such as FileZilla to upload files, but nothing works. In Filezilla, the percentage of the file upload never goes above 5%, and after 60 seconds it times out and retries. It aborts after 5 retries.

I know the problem is not with my internet connection, because I have another computer (considerably older and slower) connected to the same router as the computer that's having the problem.

They have the same version of Firefox, IE, and Filezilla, so that couldn't be the issue either.

I have tweaked the settings of Zone-Alarm and Spy Sweeper (and even disabled both of them at one point) to make sure that it wasn't the firewall or the antivirus program that was interfering. I also disabled Windows Firewall, so that isn't it either.

The connection even has trouble uploading long posts or emails, such as this one. For example, I had to transfer this post over to the other computer before I could post it....my computer timed out when I tried to post.

Does anyone have any insights into the possible cause of this problem?

If anyone has questions, feel free to ask.

Thank you in advance.

i uploaded this video with a raw filename of, as an example, exrawfile. i then go to add title tags etc, and upload it. for the sake of explaination, lets call the title extitle. when i go looking for my video, i type a tag in, it displays my raw filename in the search field, when i click on the video it automatically fixs the title to the correct name. is this supposed to happen? or is it an error? do i have to re upload, because its kind of misleading.

Hi

Still having problem with uploading files to Yahoo but have narrowed it down slightly. I can upload files of c.300kb but not any larger. Last week I uploaded a file to my group that was 5000kb, well within the limits of what Yahoo allows.

Has anyone got any suggestions as to why last week I could upload larger files easily and now I keep getting 'Cannot Find Server' when I try and upload the same file that I did a few days ago?

Are there any settings I could try changing?

This has been happening for me for some time now.

I have the 64bit RC, and keep it updated through win updater.

When I want to upload a picture to a website, I click on the "Browse computer" button, when I do the window opens for me to navigate to the picture ... as normal, however all it does is freeze, and then goes into (not responding) mode ?

I have tried it with Firefox and IE, both do the same so its not that, and I have done it on numerous sites, so its not the site?
Can anyone advise here at all ?

Thanks.

I'm hoping someone can help me with my problem. I have Windows 7 Home 64-bit. Whenever I try to upload a document (like an email attachment) I get the BSOD. It occurs when my document box pops up so I can select the document I want to attach. The box doesn't fully load - and BSOD. This occurs in email and other websites in Firefox, Chrome and Open... but not in IE for whatever reason. IE is ok. When troubleshooting, I attempted to read the dump files - but BSOD again. I've been having BSoD's for well over a year now, once or twice almost every day. I've tried multiple times to figure out whats wrong but... I dont have ANY dump files.

I've followed instructions on how to enable them but it still doesn't create a file. Im really hoping you all can help me out here.

The current settings are:
Page files on both hard drives enabled.
Set custom page size to 17000MB-20000MB
System managed size and no paging file boxes are unchecked
Write an event to system log box checked
Automatically restart unchecked
Debug information set to small memory dump/kernal. Both settings dont work
Overwrite existing file box is greyed out when debug is set to small memory. Checked when set to kernal
Small and kernal memory dump location set to C:\Windows\Minidump and C:\Windows\Memory.DMP I created these folders as they were not present

I got a SSD awhile back and use it for my windows. However i didnt reformat my other hard drive and windows is still installed on the old one however i boot from the SSD (maybe this is some how the problem)

Im using WhoCrashed from Resplendence Software - Advanced System Tools and Developer Components to force a BSoD when trying to creat a dump file.

There are NO files in either folder. Both on the SSD or old hard drive.

I have seen a few threads similar to this problem on this forum and I believe I have tried all the possible solutions that I've seen, but the problem persists.

On my co-worker's PC (Win7 Pro, 64-bit, SP1), when he uses Internet Explorer to upload image files to a website, the "Choose File to Upload" dialog always opens in detail view. He'll switch to large thumbnails, look for the file he needs to upload, upload it, and then move on to the next upload (this particular website only lets you upload one file at a time, unfortunately), and the dialog resets to detail view. This is incredibly frustrating for him, especially because I don't have this problem on my (identical) PC.

I've gone through all the folder view settings and painstakingly checked all the Internet Options looking for what might be different between our two systems, and I'm coming up dry. I have tried messing with the registry, doing a System Restore or two, downgrading him from IE11 (which we were both using) to IE10, and it keeps happening.

This doesn't happen in Chrome, but unfortunately the one website we have to use is one of those "Designed for IE, not supported in any other browser" sites (ARGH).

Is there anything I'm not thinking of that could be causing this? His PC is brand-new (A Dell, like all of ours) from just a couple of months ago. He doesn't have any malware that I've been able to spot, and is not an Administrator on the computer (the problem also exists when ... Read more

Hey, guys

I have been having some odd behavior with my Win 7 (64) OS. First, I experienced several BSODs but no files were written to my windows\minidump directory. I made sure to have the Startup and Recovery settings selected (ie., Write an Event checkbox was selected and small memory dump was selected). But no memory dump file was ever created. I switched to kernel memory dump, and I think one was written, and should be reflected in the SF Diagnostic Tool report.

Anyway, I simply want know what is causing the BSOD and how to fix it. And guidance will be greatly appreciated.

There is no dump file in the zip you uploaded.

Follow the tutorial Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD, make windows create dumps at the subsequent crashes.

At the same time, search in C:\Windows\Minidump manually. If there is any, upload those.

First off, let me say that I'm not sure if I'm infected or not. But my computer has been acting suspiciously ...

I had just started up my PC and I was looking at some settings for AutoDefrag (this could have just been coincidence) when Comodo Defense+ showed me a warning. Basically, WMIADAP.exe was trying to modify a file or a registry entry (I'm sorry but I don't remembner which). I know that WMIADAP.exe is a system file, but it was in a strange location:

C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-wmi-core_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6001.18000_none_15729e98d7f61129\

I stupidly allowed this, since it was before I saw the unusual location of the file.

Looking through Comodo's logs, I see that it tried to modify the file C:\Windows\System32\wbem\Performance\WmiApRpl.h

To calm my suspicions, I tried to upload WmiApRpl.h to both Virustotal and Jotti, as well as Avira's sample submission page but the Performance subdirectory containing the modified file does not show up in a "file upload" window! This really worries me.

Subdirectories of C:\Windows\System32\wbem\ that show up under Explorer:

Try the following steps, befor that, zip the .dmp file using winzip or win rar. because we cannot upload .dmp extensions

1. Click on the attachment icon in reply window

2. another window will open click browse on that window

3. Browse to the directory where your dump file is located and click on the zipped dmp file and click upload

Once it uploaded close that window and now you can insert the dump file wherever u want in your post

I'm not sure how this could be possible, so I'd appreciate if someone suggested what's going on?

On my Windows 7 desktop when I open the "Choose File To Upload" dialog window from IE9 and navigate to my desktop, I see there a ZIP file listed (see attached), but when I go to the actual desktop I don't see that file there. Further more, when I try to cut that file from the "Choose File To Upload" dialog and paste it somewhere else I get the message telling me that "Item Not Found" (see attached).

A:File can be seen only through the upload window in IE

First, please fill out your system specs using the info for the computer that has this problem.

This tutorial might help: System Info - See Your System Specs

Please include these two items in your system spec info:

1) the version of the browser that you are using
(IE8, IE9, IE10) 32bit or 64bit <<< see task manager

2) the anti-virus tool you are using

~~~~~~~~~
3) Are you logged on using a account with admin rights?
4) Is the UAC turned on?
Please show all folders/files:
5) Can you see the zip file of interest if you open the Windows (file) Explorer to this location?
C:\Users\Public\Desktop
6) If not, then can you see it in this location?
C:\Users\username\Desktop
We can save these for later:
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
Disk Check
Hi,
I've been having trouble over the past month, initially with uploading attachment files with gmail. They use to time out occasionally, but now they always time out. When I needed to send an email with an attachment I could have success with hotmail, but now that is timing out as well. I recently joined a site which allows files to be uploaded but that is timing out as well. These are not large files, usually word documents.
Does anyone know what may be causing this-virus? I use AVG and the computer is regularly scanned with nothing showing up.
You get 1 TB storage, starting from $5 a month (one year plan) or $10 (one month plan). Also available a lifelong "pay once and forget" plan for $199.
Hello,
I am not sure which version of IE I have. I am on Windows 7 home 32 bit, and I have done all of my windows updates, if that gives any aid in determining what version I have.
When I try to upload files and the Choose Which File to Upload window pops up, it displays in Tile format. I want it in List format, and I change it every time. For whatever reason, it won't save this as default. Is there a way to do so?
Also, I turned on auto complete to help me streamline repetitive entries into a content manager, but it has not been doing any suggesting. Does it take some time before it starts to do that? (I do have it set to complete forms)
Thank you
Hi
So I was uploading a big 2gb file to my FTP server, it was all going good and I managed to upload the whole thing hassle free. After I finish I log out, and return about 3 hours later and try to log back in, to no avail.
WinSCP gives me the following error:
"The requested name is valid, but no data of the requested type was found.
Connection failed."
And FileZilla gives me this one:
"Status: Waiting to retry...
Status: Resolving address of ftp.georgeoshardo.up4.net
Status: Connection attempt failed with "EAI_NODATA - No address associated with nodename".
Error: Could not connect to server"
Does anyone have any idea about this sudden inability to connect?
A:Cannot use FTP after large file upload
Have you tried by just using the IP address. On Windows, you can get the IP address from the Command Prompt:
Code:
nslookup ftp.georgeoshardo.up4.net
When I did it, I got an IP address of 50.7.245.210
Hi, welcome to forums.
Which browser are you using? You can try this on any browser. We are rolling back the changes that you "might" have done accidentally.
Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced
When in the Advanced tab, do two things
1) Click "Restore Advanced Settings"
and then
2) Click Reset (and OK to all the message warnings)
Whether I'm trying to upload something on any file-hosting site or as an e-mail attachment, regardless of the browser (Firefox, Opera, Chrome or the old Internet Explorer version), the process instantly freezes with the CPU usage at 25% and it's permanent unless ended from the task manager.
A:File Upload failure
I just tried using my last installed browser, Tor and it worked. So I also tried in Firefox with a HTTP proxy to attach in basic HTML GMail and that also worked. It's not much help due to the bandwidth limitations, just saying as it might narrow down the problem.
For the past two months, I have not been able to upload anything online. I cannot attach files to emails, or upload pictures to any site (Facebook, Blogger, etc.) My husband's computer connected to the same router has none of these problems. I have tried disabling my proxy, using different browsers, re-installing Microsoft Security Essentials, disabling the Microsoft Firewall, and running Ad-Aware and Spybot. None of these have worked, and I still can't upload files online. Help!
Hi,
I'm about to make a photo album for a web page, and I want it to be possible to upload the images via administrative access on the page.
My problem is that the only uploading tutorials I've seen, let you upload one file at a time, (been looking at www.codeproject.com , www.asp.net and more) but if I have an album with many images, around 50-100, it takes to much work and time.
Does anyone know if it is possible to upload many files at a time (f.ex browsing for files and pressing shift or ctrl to select more than one, or just selecting a folder)
Im using asp.net 2.0 and c#.
thanx.
I am running Windows XP and using the server baremetal.org. I have e-mailed their tech support but they haven't gotten back to me yet.
Hi and welcome
I would start by testing with norton disabled. I assume you are using homegroup for networking. Homegroup uses IPv6 which sometimes causes slowdowns and random drops. You could change from homegroup to workgroup and disable IPv6.
Neither can I attach files using GMAIL, YAHOO. What could be the problem??
I am behind a corporate LAN which uses a proxy. But my colleage using the same settings CAN upload / attach files.
I am on a T1 Corporate LAN and cannot even upload a 50kb jpeg file leave aside MP3 or other media files. I tried using IE 6, Mozilla 2.0.04 (latest version), nothing works.
Hi, hope someone can help with what may in fact be a simple problem...
I am trying to upload a Torrent file into Azureus, and each time in the 'make torrent' process I am prompted to 'browse directory' and choose the file, I click 'next', and get a message in red type that says 'invalid file'.
This is my first attempt to do this, I am a little confused so please be gentle with me and treat me like a 'newbie' if I ask dumb questions...
Should I be attempting to select the 'little yellow folder' i.e the file I originally downloaded, or the torrent file with the little blue frog at this point in the 'make torrent' process? I get the error message when I try to select the little yellow folder, yet when I 'browse' at this stage in the 'make torrent' process it does not offer me the opportunity to select the 'little blue frog' (even though I know the 'little blue frog' torrent file is sitting in 'my documents'!) I even tried to drag the little blue frog from 'my documents' and drop it into the 'make torrent' bit of Azureus...no luck.
I would really appreciate some help- I don't want to be the kind of guy who helps himself to torrent downloads without uploading anything! Thanks in advance.
P.s (edit) Oh dear... it has just dawned on me that the reason there is a little blue frog in 'my documents' is that I have already create... Read more
Some generic advice.
If you are overclocking STOP.
Return to the default settings at least for now.
If you are running a RAID update its driver.
I have a form that allows a user to upload a file. During upload, I use javascript to get the status of the upload by polling another page with the upload ID. This works fine in Firefox, but for some reason in Opera (and maybe others), the status page is never polled once the upload begins. Once the form is submitted, I use setTimeout() to call a function every second that gets the JSON status object from another page. I am not quite sure why this isn't working in Opera and am pulling my hair out at this point.
Code:
var uuid = gen_uuid(); // some long string that is unique for this upload
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#upload_form').attr('action', './?upload_progress_id=' + uuid);
$('#upload_form').submit(function() {
setTimeout(upload_progress, 1000);
return true;
});
});
function upload_progress()
{
$.getJSON('/upload/progress/' + uuid + '/', function(data) {
$('#uploaded').text('Uploaded: ' + data.uploaded);
setTimeout(upload_progress, 1000);
});
}
I have set breakpoints inside the upload_progress() function and have found that this is never called while using Opera. Any help would be appreciated.
Hello,
For a few months, I have been having a strange and irritating problem with my computer. Whenever I try to upload a file using any browser or outlook, etc., the file upload window freezes, goes "not responding", and eventually the entire program crashes. This only happens when I navigate the window to "desktop" (that is, to upload a file from my desktop) but since desktop is the default location that opens when I hit "browse" in any of my browers, this means I cannot upload files at all from my browsers. I have been working around this by using outlook to upload files (which defaults to "documents"), and making sure not to navigate to desktop, or by uploading files to websites where I can drag them, rather than navigate to the file upload window.
Does anyone know how I can fix this?
Thanks,
Jacob
A:File Upload Window Hangs
I don't quite understand what your problem is !  I have tried to replicate it and can't. Using Firefox 23 and IE 8 I cannot find any control to upload a file anywhere. 'File open' in both works quite normally. In IE 8, you get an 'Open file' dialogue box where, even if the start point is my desktop, it doesn't crash the browser. In Firefox, 'File open' takes you to wherever you last opened a file, and even if I navigate to my desktop and open one of the two - very temporary - files sitting there, again, the browser doesn't crash.
I wil admit I only know of two ways of uploading files - attaching them to an e-mail, or using some form of FTP software. I will also admit that I have had occasional problems with both of these methods but I cannot remember crashing a browser trying to attach a file to an e-mail.
Can you come back with a sequence of the commands that are creating this problem ?  I'll have another go at trying to recreate it.
String filNam = "file.ext";
File f = new File(srcDir + File.separator + filNam);
Hi,
Now we can create our upload.php file. To start we'll check that the file upload is safe by setting a list of allowed filetypes and disallowing all other file uploads. This will prevent people from uploading malicious files. Then we will check the filesize to prevent large files from being uploaded.
<?php
// Configuration - Your Options
$allowed_filetypes = array('.jpg','.gif','.bmp','.png'); // These will be the types of file that will pass the validation.
$max_filesize = 524288; // Maximum filesize in BYTES (currently 0.5MB).
$upload_path = './files/'; // The place the files will be uploaded to (currently a 'files' directory).
$filename = $_FILES['userfile']['name']; // Get the name of the file (including file extension).
$ext = substr($filename, strpos($filename,'.'), strlen($filename)-1); // Get the extension from the filename.
// Check if the filetype is allowed, if not DIE and inform the user.
if(!in_array($ext,$allowed_filetypes))
die('The file you attempted to upload is not allowed.');
// Now check the filesize, if it is too large then DIE and inform the user.
if(filesize($_FILES['userfile']['tmp_name']) > $max_filesize)
die('The file you attempted to upload is too large.');
// Check if we can upload to the specified path, if not DIE and inform the user.
I have a wave file that is about 1 hour long. I then converted it to an MP3 format. The MP3 file is also about 1 hour long, as it should be. I then uploaded the MP3 file to my server and created a link on my website to access this file. The upload seems to go without a hitch. However, when I click on the link, my media player is open and it begins to play the mp3. But when I look at the duration of this file as it is playing, it says it is only 45 minutes long. So I do not know why it is 15 minutes less then what it should be. Something must happen when it is uploaded. I spoke to the person hosting my server and this has also baffled her. Not sure how to resolve this problem. Hopefully, you can give me a few suggestions.
The blog service providers mostly don't allow uploading ppt file to
We may also convert the PowerPoint presentation to Flash to enable visitors view our presentation online. For the best presentation effect, we had better upload both the resulting flash and the ppt file to a free webspace, then embed the flash to blog with the ppt file link. By this way, the visitors of our blog not only can view the presentation flash drectly online but also download the original ppt file to view it on their own computers.
Hello everybody, I'm looking for solutions for my problem.
My scenario:
My workplace upgraded our OS from Windows XP x32 to Windows 7 Enterprise x64. Since then whenever I want to upload a file that is larger than 300kb to our EDMS server (web based), I always got timeout.
I installed windows virtual pc with windows 7 x32 (I didn't installed any software on it except firefox 4) and tried to upload the same file, I still got time out. I was using Internet explorer 8, firefox 3.1, and firefox 4. They all gave me the same result.
More information:
Server:
Windows 2003
IIS - Apache/Tomcat
EDMS Software:
Java
No more support for the software since it is an old software
Desktop PC:
It's already been customized by our computer tech support and I don't have admin right to the desktop computer
I've already tried in my virtual pc:
a. disable IPv6
b. disable autotuning
Anybody knows the solution for my problem? If I do need some tweaking, please tell me with detail how to tweak it. Thank you for your time and help.
1. At other locations on this same site I can Browse To File with FF no problem.
2. Using IE on the same page that I'm having trouble with FF works no problem.
3. Firefox & Safari on my Macbook also works no problem on the same page.
4. Firefox on a different PC also works on the same page no problem.
I have uninstalled & re-installed FF, Java, & Flash on the problem computer, no change.
I have increased the Flash Local Storage to Unlimited, no change.
Any thoughts or ideas?
Hi. I'm new to the forum..... and a newbie! .... so hello.
I have just made a 1 minute video on my laptop using hp quickplay. It is a 66mb mpg file.
When I try to upload it to the server my website is on it looks as though its going to take about 20 minutes! I canceled the upload because I assume that if it takes that time to upload then it will take a user that amount of time to download which is obviously not very practical.
Am I doing something wrong?
I have looked on lots of forums about compressing files etc ..... is that what I need to do?
Sorry for the very basic question and thank you for your help (in advance )
Well this may be a fairly stupid question but out of interest here goes anyway ... I recently received an email with a zipped file attached which i suspect is a virus of some sort. I use webmail to view my mail and I have no intention of downloading this mail to a local machine or detaching the zip file to a local drive - my question is, is there a way of submitting the suspect zip file to an online AV scanner without having to save it to a local drive first? This isn't an urgent problem and I'm sorry if it's a dumb one - its just out of interest really, so thanks for any thoughts
I am using IE 9 (Windows 7 64 Bit)...I've had no problem all along but the other day I had to reset IE 9 after I had obtained a new monitor and had some graphics problems. Now when I go to one site that I always go to and upload a file, I receive an HTTP 500 error and cannot upload the file. It's not a problem with the site as I can upload if I use Firefox or Chrome...just not with IE 9.
I tried Compatibility View, I added the site to Trusted Sites, and I lowered the security in IE, but still no go. Any ideas?
"Any ideas?"
Only that you should stick with Firefox or Chrome if they can do what IE can't.
That would be the simplest solution so why put up with the hassle IE is causing you?
I only fire up IE these days if someone on the forum wants to know how to do something with it and I can't remember the exact method from memory.
Field=image, Type=text, Attributes=Blank, Null=no, Default=blank, Extra=blank
Is there a way to do it? Using php pages within site.
Is it done by the php code or thru settings within the mysql db?
All feedback welcomed. Thanks, nt
Hello TSG!
I have fun problem for you web people. Brush up on you browser security knowledge.
I have a web app that runs through tomcat. This app will run on a dedicated machine that is not (and never will be) hooked up to the internet. I have a setup form that grabs values from an existing XML file using the JScript XML DOM (see code) and populates the fields on the form with the XML values. On this form, there is a file input and a button that, when clicked, should load the selected XML doc.
Apparently, Ondrive will ONLY allow you to upload .mp3 and .wma files....I have an enormous amount of ripped from CD and elsewhere .flac files, which are true lossless format that I wanted to put on Onedrive....and here's the amazingly, yet classic Microsoft goofiness/oddity,....the app that usually launches by default to play your music files from Onedrive, Groove music, will play .flac files just fine and dandy that are on my local pc drive!!....What an absurdity by MS to not allow it via Onedrive streaming, yet allow it to played off a local drive!? ...
I would be OK with converting them to the .WMA format that is true lossless (an option in windows Media Player from a CD, but apparently NOT possibly from an existing file format like .flac to .WMA lossless) and I haven't been able to find a .WMA lossless conversion program as of yet...
Hi there.
I have a small tapeless type recorder (Sony ICD-B500) with some important information on it. I would like to get this information into my computer as a .wav file.
The recorder does not have a plug for a USB cable connection.
There is only a microphone jack and a head phone jack. That's it.
I know I should be able to record this onto my computer at real time, but not sure how. Which program should I use? Do I need a special cable with small jack endings??
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Hello
My initial problem appeared to be since I changed broadband provider from sky to talk talk I can't upload any pictures to ebay. they quickly get to say 2348 kb of 2548kb and then just stop and the upload fails. Running a speed test I get 5Mb download and the upload gets to 0.5Mb and then when the speed test is just about finished the speed starts dropping and then says failed to complete.
I went through all of the checks with the broadband provider but becase the speed test and uploading to ebay worked when they got me to start my netbook in safe mode with networking they are passing the issue back to me.
I uninstalled my AVG 2011 Virus Software but am still having the same issues, any help would be great.
I have been able to upload video files (MOD format) from my PC to facebook until recent two months.
Problem symptom- I get to see and pick files from facebook window but then it takes 1 or 2 minutes for Facebook to come back and saying "You must pick a file to upload first." That is really odd as I have picked the file. It also seems Facebook is trying to upload it initially. I also picked smaller video files 5-7 MB to test and the result is the same. MOD is the facebook supported format. Next I tried converting it to MP4 format and then uploading it. Same problem.
I have Windows 7 machine and have done same procedure sfor over 2 years now. I also tried open another facebook account for my basketball team but same result. So, I know it shall not be my facebook account storage quota issue as I tried with new account too.
Contacted Facebook team but useless. I have no problem uploading photo. Any thought why is this? MY bsketball team will appreciate you to help this.
Hi scott and welcome
A couple of problems.
1- your video driver is the probable cause of this crash.
When upgrading your graphic driver you MUST remove all traces of the current driver. In order to do that we recommend using Guru3D - Driver Sweeper
When it is removed then download and install the fresh copy.
2-Old drivers (from as far back as 2005) need to be updated. Obviously not a clean install of win 7 as recommended, Yhese are important drivers like your storage (raid) networking, etc.
This one was blamed on mdfsysnt.SYS driver the Mac HD driver. http://www.mediafour.com/products/macdrive
Best guess is to re-install it and run a system file check to verify and repair your system files
Run a system file check to verify and repair your system files.
To do this type cmd in search, then right click to run as administrator, then
SFC /SCANNOW
I've heard the term memory dump file or dump file being used? I was wondering what it means?
I've gathered that it may be something to do with error messages or errors.
A:What is a dump file?
Stuff in RAM automatically gets wiped when you shut down or reboot. The dump file saves that info to your hard drive when the system crashes so you can analyze it after rebooting and are up and running again.
For a once-in-a-blue-moon BSOD a person might not care. When BSODs get to be a frequent event it makes it worth analyzing the problem so you can put an end to it.
Could someone please help me to read the dmp files? I've been getting multiple BSOD's lately.
I tried several times last night on my W7 PC and it wasn't working. I tried the debugger and that said to I don't have the proper symbols, so I installed that and directed debugger to it, but it didn't help.
I'm not too sure how the dumpfiles work, but I am at work now, so I don't think I can do anything with the files here (on XP).
I'll attach the recent dumps.
Quick History:
Built the PC a little more than a month ago, installed XP. Had BSOD's but figured it was XP related, so let it be (knowing I was going to install W7 in a few weeks). Once W7 was out I installed it and have run into far less BSOD's. Only having one until yesterday when I had 5 in like an hour or so.
Thanks.
A:Dump file help
Run memtest for as long as you can. 5 hours at least. I think there is something wrong with you RAM module(s). Especially because you said XP and here on 7.
A:Dump file help
Corrupt system files aren't very likely - as Windows System File Checker does a good job of ensuring that they don't get corrupted.
Quite often this type of error is due to a virus infection, so I'd suggest trying a couple of these free, online scans (in case your antivirus has become corrupted): Free Online AntiMalware Scanners
If that doesn't fix things up, then please post this info: http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html
Then please uninstall Daemon Tools/Alcohol 120% (a known cause of BSOD's).
Then use this free tool to remove the offending sptd.sys driver: DuplexSecure - FAQ - Remove 32 bit sptd.sys
Then do this:
OLDER DRIVERS PRESENT IN THE DUMP FILES
- Please update these drivers from the device manufacturer's website - or uninstall/remove them from your system. Reference links included below.
- DO NOT use Windows Update or the Update Drivers function of Device Manager.
- Please feel free to post back about any drivers that you are having difficulty locating.
- Windows Update exceptions may be noted below for Windows drivers:
