Windows 7 64 BSOD on GPU IntelGMA/HD5650 switch - notebook

Q: Windows 7 64 BSOD on GPU IntelGMA/HD5650 switch - notebook

Hello everyone,

It is my first post on that forum, so again - hello.

I do have some problems with my notebook - Acer TimelineX 5820TG with PQI S525 128GB SSD drive as a replacement for the oryginal drive.

After using it for three months, it started not to wake up from sleep, running extremly slow on startup, finally my graphics quality and performance in Starcraft II dramatically decreased to the point when even menu was "crippin".

I did reverted the system to the point after just drivers and Office 2010 were installed (+ skype + avira as well). Everything was running smooth for four days maybe. Again, SC2 got unplayable, and moreover, I have occasional BSODs (twice i think) during the GPU switching from ATI to Intel ( external to internal GPU).

Here is a dump listing:

Can you look into this? It seems that driver requested the wrong IRQ, but I do not know which that was - I suppose that it was an ATI driver, which actually I just updated from the Acer web page.

A: Windows 7 64 BSOD on GPU IntelGMA/HD5650 switch - notebook

Hello there, well... i'm not on the BSOD squad but from what i see in the log, the cause of that particular BSOD is the Avira Antivirus and your Graphic Cards...

I also recommend to download the drivers from the manufacturer's website, in your case, go to:

Graphics Drivers & Software

And download the latest drivers for your notebook.

After that, uninstall your current ATI drivers, run Driver Sweeper to remove any leftover from the drivers, reboot and then install the new ones...

Have you wiped the RAM and the deep sleep settings by unplugging it from the AC adapter and also removing the battery, then waiting half an hour?

Can anyone help?

For the past month or so every time I am in the middle of doing something - usually on the Internet - the cursor stops moving and nothing happens when I press the Winkey or CTRL+ALT+DELETE.

I've done several system scans but found nothing. The mouse is built in and not a USB mouse and I am using Vista Home Premium on a Del Inspiron 6400.

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

A:Mouse freezes - having to switch off notebook regularly

Welcome,

Can be memory or other causes. Fill out your system specs and I will try to help.

While you get the information that I need, you can download this. You may want to run it overnight, because it needs several runs to be accurate.

When switching on, the power button lights up and f12 (wifi light) lights up orange. The caps lock light flashes twice between pauses. The screen does not light up and the computer doesn't seem to respond to anything. I've tried a hard reset to try and fix it but it doesn't seem to have changed anything. It's just over a year old and is used mainly for the internet on trusted sites.

I have the following notebook.

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 Proffesional x64.
I used the Asus CD to install all Asus stuff. Even the ones I don't need.

My notebook as two graphics cards. The default Intel Onboard card and the more powerful 1GB nVidia GeForce GT425M 1GB video card.
Before the upgrade (which was a clean install) when I played a game (left 4 dead2, call of duty: black ops) the notebook automatically switched from the Intel to the Nvidia graphics card. But it doesn't anymore.
I have read that my notebook used Nvidia Optimus technology to do this.
Although I can't seem to be able to solve the problem.

Hi I recently purchased a Tiny universal adaptor after having left my H.P charger in a different location which meant I was going to be without it for a week or so.The Tiny charger did not pass on any power to the laptop.. I have since got back the H.P charger which came with the laptop, and tried powering it up. Still nothing.  My laptop is one of the B&O line with a non-removable battery. Do I need to claim on the warranty and replace or is there an easy fix? ThanksWill

I turned off my notebook using the mouse and the screen menu. The computer apparently closed down as it should, the screen went black, but the light on the power switch continues to glow. When I try to turn on the computer again, the power switch has become unresponsive. Now I can't turn my computer on. (I don't actually know whether the computer is turned on or off because the screen is black). The notebook has a fixed battery, so I can't do a hard reset by removing it. What should I do?

I have a dell notebook that's running windows 7 for about two months now. Started experiencing BSODs for about a week. No new hardware/software has been installed and there is ample disk space on the hard drive.

The system will boot up in normal mode and typically within 3-5 minutes will error out mentioning "ataport.sys" in the error message.

I've tried running a system restore, start up repair and have run a hardware diagnostic test but still getting the BSOD.

I ran tddskiller and the scan found something which I asked it to cure but after the reboot I continue to get the BSOD.

Tried running Malware Bytes but I continue get error messages before the application will even launch.

So far, it unit hasn't BSOD'd while in safe mode, just in normal mode.

I have Windows 7 Professional on my PC. In the first load I had, the PC should automatically detect if the LAN cable was plugged in, turn off the wireless radio, and change the network icon in the right bottom corner to reflect the cable was now in use.
Unfortunately, I had to reload my PC, and since then I can't get it to do it again.
So, what I'd like to achieve is this: Have Windows automatically detect when the cable is plugged in, turn of the wireless radio, and change the network icon in the right bottom corner to reflect the cable is in use - and, obviously, vice versa.
Can someone tell me what I need to do, please?

A:Have Windows 7 automatically switch to LAN when cable is plugged in and switch to wireless when it's removed

Hi,
There are two methods can help you.
1. Go to <Network and Sharing><Change Adapter Settings> and right click your wired and wireless adapters one at a time to change the properties. Select IPv4, click <Properties>
then click <Advanced>. For each one, clear the "Automatic metric" check box and assign the metric value manually. Setting your wired adapter?s metric value lower than wireless adapter one, such as ?1? for wired adapter and ?2? for wired adapter.

2. Go to <Network and Sharing><Change Adapter Settings>,
hold down 'alt' to bring up the "File" menu, select "Advanced", select
"Advanced Settings" from the dropdown menu, adjust the priority of your wired adapter higher than your wireless adapter in the "Advanced Settings" window under the "Adapters and Bindings" tab.
Hope this helps. Please remember to click ?Mark as Answer? on the post that helps you, and to click ?Unmark as Answer? if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

Need to no if I have this right

they have a dsl modem going to a Linksys router to a 24 port switch then to a little 4 port switch. sure, so then Would it be modem to router then router to any port on the big switch or is there an uplink port on the big switch it should go to? then you would hook a cat5e from one of the regular ports on the 24 port switch and run it to the uplink port on the 4 port switch need to no if the whole sequence is right. Hope someone can help, john will told me the cable would go from the big switch to the uplink on the small switch but I am wondering if I have it all right or not and wonderiing about from the router to the 24 port switch does the cable just go in a regular port in the big switch or if there is an uplink port does it go there. Hope you can understand my rambleing here. Thanks (please don't send me to a link) just need to no modem to router to regular port or uplink port on 24 port switch then from regular port on 24 port switch to uplink port on the 4 port switch. Thanks

A:Solved: Windows xp hookup question for modem, router, switch, to switch?

Router to uplink port on 24 port switch, and then normal port on the 24 port switch to uplink port on the second 4 port switch. An auto-MDX port on a device negates the need to worry about uplink ports for that particular cable connection.

One question I need to know

If you go from DSL modem to Router then Router to switch
my question is then
If I wanted to hook another mini linksys switch into the bigger switch would you run the cat5e cable from the first switch to a reg port in the second switch or would you run it to the uplink port and then hook the 1 or 2 computers into the reg ports of the second switch.??

Hello SJ281993 and welcome to TSF!

Few different bugchecks here, some with mention of memory corruption which can be a 3rd party driver causing that... OR hardware. Rt64win7.sys (Realtek RTL8168D/8111D Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC) is mentioned in a D1 bugcheck. This driver may be effecting your ability to properly start up if it is the true issue.

I'd recommend updating the Realtek driver here: Realtek

dtsoftbus01.sys is listed in your loaded modules list, this is the Daemon Tools driver, which is notorious for causing issues with W7. I'd recommend fully uninstalling Daemon Tools from your system.

Optional visualization programs are: PowerISO, ImgBurn, etc.

Regards,

Patrick

I have a feeling it is something to do with the windows anniversary update and a driver that has been installed (if I had to guess something to do with intel rapid storage technology as I had to have a custom version running before to avoid bluescreens, however I cannot remember the version number and am unsure if windows updated it.)

*Edit* Windows has not updated intel rapid storage, it is the same version I was using before.

Anyway, it was happening as I was playing Gears 4 and I have attached the perfmon and information asked for within the thread. (also perfmon is showing devices that are not recognised and detected, I am aware of these, one is an xbox 360 controller which does not have drivers and the others are my wireless device which I have disabled as I am using ethernet.)

A:BSOD, cannot peg down what is causing it (Attempted switch from DPC)

Please disconnect the xbox 360 controller from the system and uninstall it's software. The earlier versions of these devices are known to cause BSOD's on some WIndows systems. As for the disabled wireless device - please re-enable it, then update it's drivers.Once the drivers are updated, then feel free to disable it again. Your UEFI/BIOS (version 4206) dates from 2013.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system.  If you are able to install the update through Windows (without booting from an external drive), then go ahead and update it.  WARNING - if the computer might shut down during this procedure, please don't do it, as this may physically damage the computer and prevent it from booting.FYI - W8 and W10 communicate more with the UEFI/BIOS than previous versions of Windows, so it's important to ensure that the UEFI/BIOS is kept up to date (and that outdated UEFI/BIOS' may be the cause of some compatibility issues).Although you appear to have a reasonable number of Windows Update hotfixes for this version of your OS, please double check for any new Windows Updates.  It only takes one update to cause a problem, so it's essential that you have all of them.  The actual number is not important.  Rather it's important that you checked manually, installed any available updates, and didn't experience any errors when checking or updating. Please uninstall the Corsair Link soft... I'm getting Blue Screens of Death everytime I use Firefox v40.0.3 and it ONLY occurs when I'm using Firefox.

Code: 0x000000B8

Faulting Driver ==> HAL.DLL
Every BSoD has the same error data.

Windows XP SP3 all latest drivers and running stable eccept for this problem.
Intel Core 2 Duo 3.33GH

SATA 320GB WD drive
nVidia Quadro FX580 latest drivers

I've tried everything I can think of, like turning Hardware Acceleration on/off
Makes no difference what other programs I have running at the same time nor what I'm doing. It ONLY occurs while Firefox is running even if Firefox is loaded in the background but I'm not actively using it.

I tried using IE v8 (the last one MS offered for Win XP) extensively and it worked fine. No BSOD and this was for several hours. Started Firefox in "Safe Mode" still get BSoD. Ran virus scans with no hits.

I have a near identically setup of XP on a second primary partition that I can set active on/off hidden/not hidden. Firefox works fine on this second partition. It obviously has the same hardware and all drivers are the same too.

I have attached one dumpfile output listing by BlueScreenView. Every BSOD dumpfile is the same except for the date/time.

Hi,

I am getting a 0x0000000A Irql_Not_Less_or_Equal BSOD when I use the buttons on the front of my Belkin KVM Switch to switch to my PC. There's usually a pause of a couple of seconds, then the hardware is picked up by Vista (new hardware icon in the taskbar for a few seconds), and then the PC crashes. Not always though. It usually takes a few attempts at swapping between the Mac and PC before the PC crashes.

I have two computers connected to the switch, a Mac mini and A Dell XPS 420 PC. The BSOD only occurs when I switch to the Dell using the hardware switches (on the front of the Belkin switch). In normal use the Dell PC is stable.

I am running Vista SP1 on the Dell. Here is a link to all of my minidumps. The last few minidumps aren't 0x0000000a errors but I got them when I was messing around trying to fix the initial problem.

Any help appreciated,

Paul

Hi Phbryanw. . .

Welcome to The Tech Support Forum - Vista Support!

I ran through some of your dumps with the 0a STOP error and am finding a faulting driver named cmdguard.sys. This belongs to COMODO.

Un-install it post-haste, please.

See if this helps at all and let me know.

Hi guys!

Today I got a brand new notebook, and after toying around with it being very happy with its performance I got hit by a giant blue screen which totally knocked the smile off my face. I hope the awesome crew here can help me out!

Basic info:
-x64
-Original OS
-OEM
-Purchased the system today, I believe the age of the notebook model is around 2 months.
-Likewize for the OS, it hasn't been reinstalled.

I performed the jcgriff2 report, I ran into some problems however doing the "perfmon /report" step of the Sticky. It starts off doing a 60 second data collection, but then gives an error when assembling the report. It says "An error occured while attempting to generate the report. The wait for the report generation tool to finish has timed out." I was unable to add this to the zip-file. I hope the other report is still enough to get started.

Kind regards.

Hello all!
After posting in the virus section to get rid of unwanted malware on my newly bought notebook, I am back here to ask for help about the constant BSOD's and hangs I experience.
This happens somewhat randomly, but much more often when I browse or when the connection is somewhat being utilized ( like downloading stuff or internet related software such as instant messengers ).
I have to point out that the issues presented themselves from day one of the arrival of my notebook, a Clevo P370EM.
It came with a driver disk included, and following the manual's instructions I proceeded to install every driver on it.
Unfortunately I encountered errors while installing some drivers, so I decided to use a software that would point out which drivers were outdated, in order for me to pick them one by one online.
I have also to add that this notebook came with a 128 gb msata ssd, and that the firmware which it came with was a nightmare, infact the drive would not get detected leading to the annoying solution of rebooting and waiting in the bios for 15 minutes for it to detect it again.
Luckily early this month the manufacturer released a new version of the firmware and so far the problem has vanished.
I tried to play videogames too, I have two gtx 670mx in sli mode, and the notebook would hang up in the middle of the game, requiring a reboot. Disabling sli has made it possible to play without problems at all.
Right now though, the issue I'm getting is constant irql_d... Read more

Hello cotanapadne.

As it is a new computer, the best is you take it to the vendor, as it is within warranty.

But if you want us to do something without wasting the warranty, my first suggestion is to uninstall Daemon Tools.

Then Get rid of Lenovo RapidBoot etc, follow Clean Up Factory Bloatware.

Some other things are also may be needed be done, you upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.
Click on the start button
Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.

Hi Craig,
You have several problems.
First you have only 1 hotfix installed so I suggest you go to Windows update then install the other hotfixs.

For troubleshooting purpose, it's better to uninstall AVG and replace it with MSE.
http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

One dump file point to nvlddmkm.sys as the cause, so I recommend you to reinstall graphic drivers.
While reinstall, better to remove current driver with driversweeper then install the fresh copy of nVdia driver.
Guru3D - Driver Sweeper
Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

Another dump point to ntfs as the cause.
It's related to file system so you must perform check disk:
Right click Command Prompt → run as administrator → chkdsk /f /r

Update these drivers:

Code:
regi.sys Mon Apr 16 08:19:10 2007 → Corel WinDVD (InterVideo)
Rt64win7.sys Fri Nov 27 01:45:07 2009 → Realtek PCIe GB Ethernet

Hello.
I have a Acer Aspire 6920G which restarts very suddenly without BSOD. It actually made only two BSODS but I cannot see a possible solution to the problem.

I just want help with analyzing the Bsods to pinpoint the cause of the restarts. It is not memory/heating/harddisk problem - already tested. It happens even when trying to boot Fedora/Ubuntu. So it must be some faulty component/module on the motherboard. In windows the PC either hangs or crashes at desktop. The crash happens the moment I click twice on my computer or just the start icon. I tried without battery and with other power supply - same issue. Safe mode works okay. I disabled all the drivers I could from msconfig but it made no difference.

You dmps are showing code 116, and that can be a problem as small as a driver, but can be hardware, such as memory or worse
atikmpag.sys
You can update the driver.
If it is anything else it is most likely hardware related. Since it is new, you may want to exercise the Warranty. I know from past experience, too many changes will void the warranty.

What OS are you running?

The driver msahci.sys = Microsoft AHCI driver. The info you list shows the driver timestamp = 0x4549b198, which translates to Thu Nov 02 04:51:36 2006 - from the dawn of Vista. Neither SP1 nor SP2 appears to be installed.

I just got a new laptop in from Newegg a couple of weeks ago. Since then, I have done a clean install of Vista Business 64bit SP1. I've had my notebook for a little over a year. Yesterday evening I decided to defrag my notebook for the second time. It took about 3-4 hours. This evening I rebooted my computer and the screen went blank. I rebooted several times and still has a black screen. I am thinking it might be the video card. I need some advice. Thank you.

A:BsOD when booting notebook

I don't understand the Poll
Both answers can be applicable

BSOD can happen on BootUp drivers/Services or When running Windows Drivers/Services

It makes no difference. The point is you have a BSOD fault.

Also your question (relating ONLY to you)
Probably needs abit more info
Ie your System Specs put into your User Profile
What Video Card?
What Windows version
Have you got Antivirus installed? Is it updated ? And scanned?

The real question is, How do you remove that silly Poll ?

I have a KVM switch that I use to plug in different machines and work on them, and recently when I switch back to my main machine, sometimes I get a BSOD. It seems to me like there is something wrong with my video driver, since right before the BSOD, the video driver crashes over and over, but I don't want to start messing around with things until someone more experienced than me can offer some advice.

I used the DM Log Collector, and have attached the zip to my post.

Hopefully, someone with more knowledge about this topic can help me out.

Thanks!

Hello:

I am getting BSOD's: Attempted switch from DPC. Kernel-Power. Event ID 41. Task 63.

I installed a new hard drive and Windows 10 to fix my laptop from previous BSOD I was having with Windows 8.1 but now I am getting a different BSOD. Usually It happens when I have to restart the computer after installing software/drivers. Also after I used the program to test the memory RAM: mdsched.exe.

I will really appreciate if you can help me to fix this problem.

Thank you.

Hello everyone. For the past few weeks my HP notebook (elitebook 8470P) will not go to sleep or hibernate. When I attempt to do so, it will hang with the screen off for a sporadic amount of time, before getting a BSOD and shutting down. I have removed any recent drivers and installed applications, but cannot figure out whats going on (also have limited time since I am out of the state attending a training class). Any help would be greatly appreciated! See logs attached.

BS Ho and welcome
A comman occurance in HP's these were all caused by your hpdskflt.sys file or hpdskflt.sys is a driver for the onboard mobile data protection sensor. In other words the accelerometer.

You can re-install and wait for it to happen or disable the accelerometer if not used. I am unsure of the warranty ramifications.

No DMP file included in upload try this method either you renamed *.dmp something else like *.dmp.txt or you didnt run Jgriffs app as admin
If you wish to have others assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Start your own thread in the appropriate section of the forum and attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
* Briefly describe the problem history and circumstances in the same post. Somebody will attend to your query as soon as possible.

Hello!

- Toshiba Satellite A100 notebaook, Core 2 T5500 @1.66ghz, 1 GB RAM
- Vista Home Premium SP1, 32bit OEM . Original install 3 years old.

Doesn't ever completely finish boot before blue-screening with error:

STOP: 0x0000007F (0x00000008, 0x8013F000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Runs fine in Safe Mode without issue.

I have:
- tested memory
- run CHKDSK
- re-installed display driver
- tried the only system restore points available
- run malware scans
- used AV Vendors software removal tool to remove traces of former installations
- used MSCONFIG to progressively turn on all services
- and a whole heap of other stuff that I can;t remember now (but didn't work )

I have attached jcgriff2 files.

perfmon /report gives an error ("An error occured while attempting to generate the report. The system cannot find the path specified.") Maybe can't run in Safe Mode?

Unable to get anywhere with Driver Verifier because I am stuck in Safe Mode.

Here's hoping you can help!

Hi -

You need to remove Authentium AntiVirus5 - it is listed as the probable cause of the most recent dump.

Use Revo if necessary --> http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_..._download.html

Both Intel Ethernet and Intel wifi have 2007 timestamps on them - update the drivers -

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx

You are running Vista SP1 and need to update with Vista SP2.

Windbg Logs
--> http://jcgriff2.com/dbug_logs/_99-db..._jcgriff2_.txt

Also, you have 1 GB RAM. Vista needs at least 2 GB RAM to run efficiently. I would suggest RAM upgrade.

Hi,

I've included all the files you have asked for to diagnose the problem.

The laptop had Windows 7 Home, but then I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) three days ago (through Windows Anytime Upgrade) thinking it would eliminate the BsOD. It hasn't. This began happening recently, but now it happens frequently. I have not installed any new programs when this problem began. My version of Windows Ultimate is a full retail version I purchased.

I purchased this laptop from my brother, but it shouldn't be more than a year old.

Thank you for your help,

You have three glaring problems

Your Avast , old drivers, and Zone Alarm (NETIO.sys).
I would remove avast and replace with Microsoft security essentials and the win 7 firewall. Remove Zone alarm.

The most recent crash was probably caused by an interaction between ZAP and Avast.

Dump blames (STOP 0x124). Since this is a laptop; if it is still under warranty - you may want to RMA the laptop back to the store and get a new one or a refund.

If you rather diagnose the laptop by yourself and us, that is fine...

When diagnosing hardware/software problems with a laptop, please do this with caution and if you make a mistake, let us know.

Last week I received my brand new HP EliteBook 8560w Workstation Notebook.

Configuration is as follows:
Intel i7 2630QM quad core
nVidia Quadro 1000M
4GB DDR3 RAM

Windows 7 Home Premium x64 (pre-installed on notebook)

The problem is that I receive BSOD's very often (on average within a couple of hours after every boot, but can be as soon as 10 min. or only after over 5 hours). It's not clear what is causing the BSOD's (no specific action or application), but the last couple of days it struck me that it doesn't happen often when just browsing the internet or reading pdfs etc., more often when listening to music (wmp) or watching youtube or other flash video. But it has also happened when I wasn't really doing anything and the computer was just displaying the desktop.

I upgraded the memory to 12 GB by adding two more 4GB cards, taking them out did not matter at all (currently they are still out). I have updated the drivers for video and audio. Windows is up to date. I performed a virus scan and memory diagnostics (HP and windows) and other HP system diagnostics and flashed the BIOS. All without succes. At first AVG was installed, which I replaced by Avast! also without any result.

Really don't know what else I can do... Does anybody have a clue?

Hello,

2 days ago I received my new ASUS K52JK-SX019V notebook. On the very first startup I got a BSOD, however after restarting the notebook it booted normally and worked perfectly all night.
The following day I had another BSOD on first startup. And again the problem vanished with restarting the notebook and it worked good.
Same pattern that evening. This leads me to conclude that I get an BSOD on Cold Boot because I never got a BSOD or any other error after the first startup.

I have warranty of course so I can send the notebook back but this is my only computer and if it needs to be repaired I will be without computer for some time.
Being a student this will become an issue so it would be amazing if the experts here can give some insight in what the problem is.

Specifications:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
OEM version, pre installed on notebook
Like I said, I just got the notebook 2 days ago. BSOD on very first bootup, no software installed before the first BSOD or anything.

A:BSOD on Cold boot new notebook

Hi, Dutch, and welcome to the forum. I am sorry your are having problems with your new computer. The dump does not give a specific cause; so you will have to troubleshoot.

Quote:
Error code 7F, UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP. Usual causes: Memory corruption, Hardware (memory in particular), Installing a faulty or mismatched hardware (especially memory) or a failure after installing it, 3rd party firewall, Device drivers, SCSI/network/BIOS updates needed, Improperly seated cards, Incompatible storage devices, Overclocking, Virus scanner, Backup tool, Bad motherboard, Missing Service Pack.

While you are troubleshooting, I suggest that you uninstall Eset NOD32 antivirus. Eset is known to cause BSOD's on some Win 7 systems. After you get your system stable, you can try Eset again; but I really don't recommend doing so. Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials in place of Eset.

Fairly new system, been bluescreening occasionally since I've had it. Finally fed up and looking for some help. HP Support has not been too helpful to this point.

Thanks for any help and/or suggestions.

I don't see any minidump file in the one you just post. Please go to C:Window and make sure that the minidump folder is there with .dmp file in it. You might want to check if you have set system to create minidump file.

Click on the Advanced tab
Click on the Startup and Recovery Settings button
Ensure that "Automatically restart" is unchecked
Under the Write Debugging Information header select "Small memory dump (64 kB)" in the dropdown box
Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as "%systemroot%\Minidump" (without the quotes)
Click OK twice to exit the dialogs, then reboot for the changes to take effect.

Are you using any program such as CCleaner..? Are you sure it is BSODs?

Hi all,
I have been having this problem for a couple months, and even with a complete reformat, I have had no avail to fixing the problem. Every once in a while, and becoming more frequent, my computer (HP Pavilion g6-1d60us) will go to a black screen, then come back on to a BSOD. I haven't been able to find any information on it mysef, and I'm not as tech savy as I would need to be to understand any of the diagnostics I am running. I have tried but cannot understand them very well. I have not done any modifications besides a reformat back in July after the problem started. Since then, I have recieved the blue screen a few times, and at least twice in the past month. If anyone would be able to help it would be greatly appreciated. I had thought it was simply because the computer was overheating, as the last time (prior to a few minutes ago) it was extremely hot, even to the touch. Since, I have purchased a desktop fan for underneath it, and it still gave me a BSOD error with that running, and the computer is not hot this time. It appears to be completely random when it happens, sometimes with a web browser running, and sometimes when nothing at all is running. I have had no other issues besides this BSOD one, and the drivers all appear to be up to date. I am running Windows 7 x64 sp1.
Thank you in advance,
Ninjakomodo

Upon powering on my notebook either things will happen:

1. Will lead me to a complete black screen where I can only move my cursor around then will blue screen and restart.

2. Scan and repair drive (Gets stuck then BSOD)

3. Show me options of refreshing / resetting etc but after completing a reresh or reset it'll BSOD

I've surfed through the forums and have been looking at some solutions but none of them have seemed to help.

Could you guys please give me a rough idea on what you guys recommend for me to do?

I've tried chkdsk and that has been stuck on for hours and hours. sfc /scannow does not allow me for some reason as well.

Are you able to get into Windows at all? If so, Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum): Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions Please use Option 1 as it provides Event Viewer logs.

If not, then I'd try a reset with the recovery disks. If you don't have them, you can order them from Asus. Here's a link on info about doing that in the US: Order Recovery Discs (USA)

If that still doesn't work, then start with these free, bootable diagnostics: Initial Hardware Diagnostics
If unable to boot to the discs, please post back for further instructions.

I have a wireless router connected to my modem, and ALL PC's connect to that for internet.

I also have a gigabit switch I use to transfer data in between several of the machines. I do it quite often and I don't want it eating up the wifi bandwidth.
I have done it before, but it has been a long time and I cannot remember how I forced internet traffic over the wifi and local traffic through the switch
Is the only way to do it to specifically tell Windows to use the IP address of the LAN connection? I know it will work that way, forcing local traffic directly to that IP, but I seem to remember there being an easier way to do this.

Thanks.

I don't have any specifics other than the dump file attached as this is a shared notebook and all users get the bsod which then requires a manual power cycle to log back on.

I have run the hp diagnostics utility using F2 at startup and all tests passed.

Hi all. Im new here.
Today while i left the house i turned my Asus K52F notebook into Sleep mode. After a few hours i came back and wanted to continue my unfinished job but i get the Startup repair screen. I started it in normal mode and i found out what happened. I started googling and i followed some instructions what to do. I tried many things but no-one of them worked thats why i'm posting here my weird problem.

I never used Sleep mode before so i don't know if this is a new or a long-standing problem. When i put it into Sleep mode and it's idle i close the lid. After opening the lid and turning the notebook on everytime is the same again...getting the BSOD error window after boot-up.

So i started googling and downloaded and installed Windows SDK. With Dumpchk & WinDbg Im analyzed the minidump file. The results get me puzzled:
Dumpchk was telling me that the bad driver is probably ntoskrnl.exe ( nt+75bc0 )
WinDbg was telling me that the bad driver is probably pci.sys
So after this i tried Driver Verifier with all drivers which wasnt Microsoft's + the two drivers from DumpChk and WinDbg (ntoskrnl & pci.sys)

I restarted notebook and at windows loading i get a BSOD screen. It was the Daemon Tools's driver: dtsoftbus01.sys
After uninstalling DT and the driver from the DevMgmt i tried Verifier again. My notebook booted up without problems. But it didn't fixed the error. The PC got again the BSOD at wake-up.

I was googling hours about this and im realized that... Read more

Hi all,

I'm writing on battery power now, and computer is working fine. For some reason, it started BSOD after I plugged it in last time. I kept restarting plugged in, tried removing latest app updates via safe mode, but it would always crash when I went back to normal startup to welcome screen.

Then I unplugged the power, and it booted fine while on battery. FYI, I'm using a Lenovo Thinkpad T450S, so the power port is also a usb port. I'm now guessing this usb/power feature from Lenovo is the culprit, but hopefully the dumps can shed some light.

Thanks in advance,

Ed

A:Unplugged notebook from power and BSOD stopped?

Hi edwardotis,

Welcome to 8forums.

I'm currently analysing your dump files.
Unfortunately the error you had the most, kernel_security_check_failure(0x139), is one that is hard to solve because a driver asks to free time at another time then the error, my short description of the meaning of this error

A few possible solutions
- Open admin command prompt and type sfc/scannow, this checks if any windows file is corrupted.
If there are corrupt files found, please upload the cbs.log and the dism.log found in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS and C:\Windows\Logs\DISM (Change C if your OS has another letter)
- Scan your pc for viruses.
- Run driver verifier, this is a tutorial from sevenforums for windows 7, but its almost the same for windows 8.

Please update or reinstall following driver because it has been flagged with the other error you had. This could also solve the kernel security error.

I have a HP650 notebook (Windows 8.1) and have for about 20 months. I ran a battery check and it said to calibrate it so i did so by going into the HP diagnostic test or something by pressing F2/escape on start-up. I ran it fine and it went for about 2 hours and upn completion it said it worked. It then restarted the laptop and i got a BSOD. It read "Your PC needs to be repaired. The boot configuration data file is missing some required information. File /BCD . Error code:0xc0000034. You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media." After looking online for a couple of hours someone told me to run an elevated command prompt and type in the following in order: "Bootrec /fixmbr, Bootrec /fixboot, Bootrec /scanos. Bootrec /rebuildbcd". After doing so it worked and i backed up everything on my laptop. My question is why did this happen. It must of had to been something to do with the battery configuration. Anyway,  how can i stop this from happening in the future? Will it happen again or is it fixed as i typed those specific commands above and it worked or are the commands just a temporary fix or something? Also can i run the battery check again just to double check it worked or do you think i will get the BSOD error message again?
Thanks

A:HP 650 notebook BSOD error code : 0xc0000034

You rebuilt the BCD (Boot Configuration Data), so that should be fine now.

As for what happened, all I can suggest is that some how a file became corrupted.  This happens with Windows, this is why they have System File Checker (sfc /scannow).

Hello everybody,

I have registered on this forum because I am in despair. My notebook (HP nx 7300) doesnt work. Here are my specs:
-Windows XP Pro SP3
-Intel Core2Duo processor
-1GB of RAM
-Seagate Momentum HDD

Here is what happened: Windows stopped to work, it did not boot on(BSOD). I could not even start Windows in safe mode (BSOD too).
So I re-formatted the HDD and installed Windows again, including all the updates. But after some time (1 day of using) the Windows crashes again, it wont boot not even in the safe mode...

I have run a HDD manufacturer?s diagnostic utility (seatools), it found one bad sector and repaired it. After that Windows started to work again, but only one day again. Windows crashes again, I have run the SeaTools diagnostic again but no errors were found...

I am really having hard time to find out whats the problem. It seems that there is something wrong with hardware, but I dont know what.
I think its one of these possibilities:

1. hard drive - I could try to reformat the HDD again and also erase the MBR because I didnt erase the MBR when I was formating the HDD first time. Could this be the problem? But if yes, how is it possible that the manufacturer?s diagnostic tool doesnt report any problems?
One more note: When I try to run a diagnostic test in BIOS, it doesnt pass, at the beginning it says "write error"... But the HDD is working fine, according to SeaTools.

2. RAM memory - I have run a test in BIOS for the RAM ... Read more

look in Device Manager and let us know if there are any yellow exclamation or question marks by any of the device. if you have reinstalled all the correct device drivers too after you reloaded xp then there should be no yellow marks. what antivirus program are you using..?? sometimes a good utility like tuneup utilities 2009 would be worth investing in TU2009 will scan your hdd and system for problems and will fix them for you. including doing a good defrag. of the harddrive if it considers it needed.

ASUS notebook K50IJ just over 1 year old with original OS (7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1). Daughter's college pc.
I am having very random BSOD's, sometimes more frequent than others. Had 2 today while trying to diagnose.
Steps taken so far:
chkdsk.....OK
memtest86+ for 2 hours.....OK
Ccleaner.....basic and registry clean
Malwarebytes full scan.....OK
I tried to run Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool, but it wanted me to insert a system disk on restart due to not finding the right files.
The only other issue that I can see is my Action Center has an hourglass sign and says "backup in progress". My daughter started this after the first BSOD and then it crashed again and was not able to finish the backup.
TIA for your time.

Hi,

We'll need more system info. Please follow the instructions in this post http://www.techsupportforum.com/1871981-post2.html and attach the resulting files to your next post. If the zip file is too big then split the contents into more than one zip.

Hi there! I posted here a couple of weeks ago because I had a problem with my ASUS N56JR notebook which gave me a lot of blue screens. It ended with me sending my notebook in for RMA. ASUS switched out my HDD and sent the notebook back to me. It took about 10 minutes after starting it before I got a new BSOD. I got bought some new RAM sticks but that didn't help either. I have quite a lot of minidumps and I thought I'd come here again and see if we can figure this out.

So the BSOD's mainly appears when I play games. If I use my NVIDIA card it takes about 2 minutes before my notebook crashes and if I use the integrated graphics the crashes usually takes quite a while longer. Sometimes they don't appear at all.

Thanks in advance!

Best regards

EDIT: The message I get most of the time is PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA but IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL appears quite often too. Whocrashed says the crashes are most likely because of some driver bug but I can't figure out what it is that's causing it.

A:ASUS N56JR Notebook BSOD PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

Your description seems to point to the nVidia graphics card.
This can be a driver problem, an overheating problem, or a broken hardware problem.
For starters please:
- download a fresh copy of the latest Win8 compatible nVidia video drivers from the Asus website
- uninstall the current nVidia drivers from your system
- install the freshly downloaded drivers
- monitor for further BSOD's

More to follow after I look at the reports......

Dear community,

I'm getting some random BSOD's lately or my laptop freezes so I have to do a 'hard' reboot. I'm unable to pinpoint what change in my system started to cause the problem but maybe it is after I installed a SSD. But this may well be co?ncidence.

I am able to log on and use the laptop but sometimes after a while the laptop freezes or reboots with error code 0x0000000a. The faulty driver differs: ntkrnlpa.exe, ndis.sys and NETIO.sys.

I have ran a Windows Memory Diagnostic for 20-30 minutes and it foutnd no errors in RAM.
I hope you guys can tell me what causes the crashes. Hopefully it is an software issue and easy to fix.

Thanks up front!

Hello guys!

I'm new here and today was my 5th day of BSOD and it started making me crazy. Once I start my notebook, it opens everything as normal, connects to the wi-fi, but the if I click the trashcan, my computer it takes a while to open and it doesn't open programs that uses more memory like iTunes... After a while it opens everything as nothing has been done.. :/

I attached the log from DM Log. Let me know if you need more information.

I have a Print Server TP-Link TL-PS310U to share one printer and one External HDD and the program used to manage it is this one: MFP_and_Storage_Server_Setup_091006_049rev2_WHQL
Once I delete it's service all pages/programs that I clicked to open prompt the right way. There is something wrong with this program...

Thank you very much for your help.

Hi Light33.

The zip you uploaded does not contain any crash dump.

Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Dont run any disc cleanup tool before you post another zip.

Is it possible to switch off a laptop screen - laptop runs Windows 7 - and prevent it being switched on again, without inputting a password?

I need to keep the laptop running, therefore I can't put it to sleep and logging-off has become a pain.

I've tried the Power Options, but the display comes on again when the mouse is nudged.

I've also tried "Fn + F6" on my Acer laptop, which switches off the screen, but an accidental key press brings it to life again.

Any ingenious little prog around? None I've seen have that crucial password privacy aspect.

Hi everyone, I searched through the forums but couldn't really find what I was looking for.

Currently we have a DHCP server set up to a switch, that has a special line connecting to a switch in our shop which is just across our back lot, giving network access to the few computers over there. They recently put in a new machine that needs network access, but they have already accidentally cut two ethernet cords. I'm looking to provide a wireless solution for the machine, but I don't want to have to spend a few thousand dollars on a large wireless switch.

Can I plug a wireless router into the switch in our shop, and essentially turn it into a wireless bridge, or is there another, simpler way to do this?

If this has already been answered, sorry for missing it!

Thanks!

A:Solved: DHCP Server -> Switch -> Switch -> Wireless

While you could use a router, or even configure the router to act as an access point, why not just buy a true access point? They start at $27: http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCate...ame=Wireless-AP-Bridges-Repeaters&Order=PRICE

My notebook is an ASUS X53U running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit edition. The computer is a little over two months old (received it as a Christmas gift) and it had worked perfectly fine up until a few weeks ago when I began experiencing seemingly random BSODs. So far I have not been able to find out how to force it to happen, all I can say is the first two times it BSOD'ed the .dmp file showed that it was "hal.dll" causing the problem, now every single time since the problem seems to be caused by "ntoskrnl.exe." Like I said, the crashes are completely random, sometimes happening once a day and other times happening three or four times in an hour. I tried to figure out what was going on by looking at the .dmp files in WhoCrashed, and it seems to be indicating a hardware error. The only external hardware I have hooked up to my PC is a mouse, which does randomly stop working on occasion. Could there be an issue with it? Also, this may not be true "hardware" persay, but I do have a virtual CD-ROM drive installed through Virtual CloneDrive.

System Specs:

ASUS X53U Notebook
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
AMD E350 Processor 1.60 GHz
4.00 GB Ram

A:Frequent BSOD on new ASUS Notebook, poss. ntoskrnl.exe?

Your .dmp file shows a stop error of 0x124 which is a general hardware error .

Quote:
A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint.

Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress

Some generic advice.

If you are overclocking STOP. Return to the default settings at least for now.
If you are running a RAID update its driver.

Several problems
1-SPTD.SYS, a huge BSOD problem.

Please remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads

I thought that I had this all figured out, but my dad just asked me a question about my setup, and I can't answer it.

The setup is like this:
[ip-phones + computers]-->[small switch]-->[managed L2 switch]-->[router]-->[modem]

I have several ip-phones and computers grouped into blocks of 8. Each set of 8 is a medley of phones/computers connected to a small switch http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Sate...nksys/Common/VisitorWrapper&lid=3681322279B34

Each of these switches, in turn, will be connected to a managed L2 switch http://www1.ca.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/pwcnt_3448p?c=ca&cs=calca1&l=en&s=biz that will create 2 VLANS: One VLAN will contain all of the phones, and the other will contain all of the computers. In turn, each VLAN will have its own router and DSL modem, thereby separating the network traffic.

I know that I can use this L2 switch to make the VLANS based on the MAC addresses of the devices. However, the smaller switches do not support 802.1q [VLANs]. Will it be a problem that the smaller switches do not support VLANs? Essentially, will this setup work to split up network traffic?

Thanks once again,
-Roger

A:Computer, switch, switch, router, modem

I have the same DELL switch for my phones. You PoE will not carry across the linksys switches, so that is the first problem.
Next are the computers attached to the phones? Or does each device get its own drop?

And whats this about 2 routers and modems? Thats a bit over kill!! QoS would do the trick.

I would run all the devices off the Dell and attach the computers to the Phones (most IP Phones have a passthrough port) Configure the Dell with trunk ports with the Computer VLAN passing untagged traffic making it the native VLAN. While having the phones on a Tagged VLAN(If you phones conig allows you to set the VLAN in its config great! If not you can bind the MAC to the VLAN). The you create a QoS policy giving the VoIP traffic priority!

It's only me on computer. Have virgin media security/ spyware/ virus protection. Tried CCleaner. After I switch user everything is fine.
Additional info; On 16th October had great difficulty getting my emails from Yahoo. Sometimes sign-in box appeared without my security signature and different style of writing for browser remembered log-on details.

I already tried updating my network drivers, turned off windows' firewall and I'm using no antivirus.
I have attached the BSOD memory dump thing and the SF Diagnostic Tool logs.

Any help is appreciated.

EDIT: I can't seem to upload my Kernel Memory dump, I'll try to force another BSOD and upload a mini dump instead. Sorry.
