Q: Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT Live Kernel Event

I have never seen this issue before and for the most part I can't say It's really causing me any issues other than some pop up flickering now and then. Also, I recently updated to Avira 2012 so I'm not sure if thats a problem. Please see attached images

I'm currently using W7 Home Premium and would like to upgrade to W10 but I'm concerned my Nvidia graphics card is incompatible. W7 has offered an update for it but it screwed up my display so I rolled back to the previous version, driver 7.15.11.7620 dated 19 July 2008. My Acer laptop originally came installed with Vista and I only upgraded to W7 last year. Any help or advice really appreciated.

I have a Dell XPS One A2420 with the Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT video card. I have been trying to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I cannot find a 64 bit driver for the 9600M GT that will work on this machine. In addition, the driver update from Microsoft will not work both in 32 bit and 64 bit. I have contacted Dell numerous times about this. Just before buying Windows 7, I talked to a Dell rep and he assured me that all the 64 bit drivers, including the 9600M GT 64 bit, would be available for Windows 7 for this machine. To date no drivers on there drivers download page. All you folks out there that have this machine need to start calling Dell and put the pressure on them to correct this. I have also noticed that the XPS One is no longer being sold on there Web site except for refurbished models.

When attempting to upgrade from Vista Home Premium (32bit) to Vista Ultimate (32bit) can an upgrade error - upgrade fails. The Vista Upgrade advisor tells me that the NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT will not work in Windows Vista:-

"This device will not work in Windows Vista. For more information, please go to the device manufacturer's website, Windows Marketplace, or contact your retailer."

How can I proceed to upgrade to Windows Vista Ultimate?

Is this just a Vista Ultimate upgrade issue or is this display adapter truly not supported on Vista (even though I have a HP Pavilion laptop with one installed running Vista Home Premium).

I'm experiencing this when running different Adobe applications and sometimes just randomly it will occur. I've seen this problem posted by many on the web and haven't found a successful solution for me. I've rolled back my driver to the earlier 347.88 version because some were saying that fixed the problem for them, but I'm still experiencing the display driver "crash".

I haven't ever seen this before and I've had my NVIDIA 760 for a couple years now but I recently upgraded my MoBo to the new MSI Z170A. Then it started immediately. From here I'm not real sure how to troubleshoot the issue. I've also seen some suggesting that it may be a problem with my power supply, but I never ran into any issues before.

These are the 2 entries I find in the system log:

"Unable to recover from a kernel exception. The application must close."

"The NVIDIA OpenGL driver detected a problem with the display
driver and is unable to continue. The application must close."

Did you clean install windows when you swapped boards?

Next the cx line from corsair is not intended for any type of stressful use. It is for a basic build ONLY. Even corsair says it is only for a basic build;
http://www.corsair.com/en-us/power-supply-units/cx-series

Since you have a marginal pw supply [for use with a high end video card] Have you checked your voltages; specifically the 12V, 5V, and 3.3V values? If not, do so.
I never use msi boards so I am not sure if any monitoring software is available on the support page. If there is, download and install the monitoring software. Post the voltages here.

Hello everyone! I tried posting this in the graphics card forum, but haven't had any responses so I thought I would try here seeing as how it may be a driver issue.
I've been having an issue with my GPU recently, and I'm at an absolute stand still as to what the issue could be. I'm using a custom build, and here are some of the specs:

Power Supply - Corsair 650TX V2
CPU - Intel i7-3770K
GPU - NVIDIA Geforce GTX 670
Motherboard - ASUS P8Z77-V
RAM - 16GB G.Skill DDR3 1600

Now here is my issue.
Whenever I try to launch certain programs and games such as BF 3/4, Dead Space 3, Photoshop CS6, and Sony Vegas 12, they will attempt to start, freeze, and then my display on both monitors will go black for two seconds and return to normal. I'm then greeted by a friendly little message in the corner that says:
"Display driver stopped responding and has recovered
Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version (whatever driver version I have at the time) stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

This is frustrating not being able to use these programs which I used to use on a daily basis, and play many many games. I posted about it several times on the NVIDIA forums, and have been unable to find an answer to my problem. But after doing a little (LOT) of research, I came to the conclusion that it could be one of two things.
1) It has something to do with "graphics hardware acceleration"
2) My GPU isn't getting enough power.

For the past couple of weeks I have been receiving a crash on and off, mostly while browsing, my screen will go black and then come back on a short time later with the error "Nvidia Display Driver Stopped Responding and Has Recovered"

From a bit of searching and past experiences, I have found that this is apparently a long lasting problem that few people have been able to fix, most people seem to say it is an Nvidia driver issue, because of this I didn't think much of it.

However today while playing multiple games, I have received another crash I haven't received before:
My screen goes black for a bit, before coming back on and then displaying the crash shown, followed by an error to say that the game I was playing at the time has stopped working.

Today Is the first time I have seen this crash, but the crash has occurred at least 4 times today.

As mentioned I wasn't too worried about the first crash I was receiving but after receiving this new crash today (unable to recover from a kernel exception) I am a bit more worried that maybe my GPU is starting to fail.

I am currently running the latest Nvidia drivers for my GPU and running Windows 10 64-bit, any help on what may be causing these crashes or any tests I could do to help get to the bottom of what may be causing these crashes would be greatly appreciated.

Im not the best at GPU troubleshooting so even with a program I don't know what to look for other than temperature.

thanks in advance,

Good day all,

Today, I started up my PC and after browsing on it for an hour I noticed a LiveKernelEvent hardware error in the Performance and Reliability graph. Looking at the time of the error, it appears that it occurred seconds after booting up my PC. The weird thing is that the PC didn't act strange or freeze up. Also, googling this error shows that it's mainly associated with BSOD's while my PC didn't give any.

I couldn't find any errors about it in the logs but there is only an information log about it (Dutch):

I just installed the latest cumulative update and when I checked reliability history it listed a hardware fail event, livekernelevent code ab. Anyone know what that's about? PC seems fine though. And I rebooted a few times and was unable to repeat the error, bit concerned by it though!

EDIT - seems to be a bug in the latest cumulative update as we see the exact same in our other machine! Possibly triggered by signing out of one user account and into another. As I can't then subsequently repeat the error I think it's a one off that happens initially after the update but will monitor the reliability history closely to see if it happens again on either of our machines

Yeah, stumbled across this thread while trying to figure out the problem. Seems like it's a bug right after installing the latest update like you said since it's happening on multiple machines. I only have one user account on my computer so it seems like that's not the problem.

Hello geeks.

Is there any way I can force 1920 * 1200 (or 1080) resolution, using this hardware: Fujitsu Scaleo L22-1W display and GeForce 9600M GT GPU. Native resolution for this display is 1680 * 1050 at 59 Hz.

I am building a HTPC system using a spare HP Pavilion dv7 laptop, basically the same specs than those I've listed in my system specs. I would like to use it with two displays, the mentioned L22-1W and and a fullHD plasma TV from laptops HDMI out, desktop duplicated not extended, laptops own display disconnected because this GPU allows max two displays at the same time.

Problem is this duplicated desktop. This GPU allows a FullHD resolution ONLY when a HDMI device is the only display connected, or when multi display settings are on extended desktop. If I choose duplicate desktop, it allows the HDMI device resolutions only up to the max of that second display, in this case 1680 *1050.

If this is not possible, I'll buy a new display with FullHD resolution. I just want first to test if I could make this system from spares I already have.

Kari

A:Fujitsu L22-1W display and GeForce 9600M GT

If you try forcing a higher resolution then the monitor supports you can cause damage to the monitor, but I guess you know that - i tried with my old Mitsubishi monitor, and it was scarry even, the screen was totally out of wack, wouldnt recommend it at all. I t was so bad I didn't even try to adjust the screen size and quickly reverted back to the old resolution.

I'm sure thats fine, but I myself am always more comfortable when it's under 65C. thats just me. Try turning up the fan speed. It's probably set to be going at about 30% or less.

Program called RivaTuner will allow you to adjust the speed.

Hi
I have quite a problem. I just installed new Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on my Vaio VGN-AW 21 S/B notebook and the os don't recognise my graphic card: GeForce 9600M GT. It uses a Standard VGA card which obviously isn't the one i have in there .
As i red, it's an often experienced problem with this graphic card. Anyway, I didn't find a way to solve this.
Afer some forums research, i found that the problem came from an invalid "ID number" or something like that in the driver.

I already tried to install the latest drivers from Nvidia but nothing works, it just says that "Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware".

Anyone already experienced that or know a way to solve this?

Hi folks and thanks for being here. This is my first post and question.

I have a Dell XPS One 8200 running Windows 7 32-bit with an NVidia GeGorce 9600M GT graphics card. There is a new driver available for it as noted in another thread: 275.33. The driver I download doesn't recognize my graphics card and won't install. Here are the particulars:

The XPS One systems are all-in-one ala iMac, and apparently they have notebook graphics cards. When I use NVidia driver auto detect the correct card part number comes up and I am offered a driver to download. When I enter the card information manually I am taken to the same driver download. But when I run the installer I receive the message that no compatible hardware was found. Dell has been of no help and doesn't independently have a driver to download for this system that I have been able to find at their website.

I was able to download and install version 270.61 without a problem, but not this newer version.

Does anyone know of a workaround? Many thanks, Lial

A:EVGA Precision & Nvidia 9600M GT

you need to download the accompanying program to test, though I'm blanking on its name. I think you have to be signed in first though. There is no specific perfect setting, it is just trial and error. Start small and slowly go bigger. Also, you might be able to find more help on an Nvidia forum as it is more specific, or an overclocking forum.

Hi!

It's been 4 months since I've bought a new laptop (HP Pavilion dv7-1253ca with a GeForce 9600M GT, originally branded with Vista) and upgraded it to Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit version). Since then, I have a series of instability problems caused by an unknown agent (possibly an incompatible/conflicting driver?), and that includes:

constant Firefox crashes (with the crash report window);
constant Chrome "Aw, Snap!" messages;
constant Flash Player 10 crashes with all browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Opera, IExplorer);
constant random crashes playing games like The Sims 3 and Fallout 3;
"Desktop Window Manager" service constantly stopping.

Here are a few fixes I've already tried:

fresh re-install of Windows 7 a couple of times (32-bit & 64-bit versions);
disabling DEP (Data Execution Prevention);
uninstalling/disabling IDT Audio drivers;
uninstalling/disabling Bluetooth drivers;
clean-boot Windows;
memory testing with memtest+ (diagnostic OK);
BIOS update to the latest version;
disabling Powermizer within nVidia drivers.

So, the only solution to the problem I've found was to uninstall the nVidia drivers and use the crappy "Standard VGA Display Adapter" drivers that come with Windows, that don't support Aero or let me play any game. As soon as I install the GeForce drivers, everything starts crashing again. Another solution I've found was to run Windows Vista, but that's totally unacceptable after you try Windows 7 for the ... I had no issues in Win 7 32-bit. But I found 64-bit was working flawlessly on my Dell Latitude laptop at work. Guess my Intel i5 processor just isn't up enough to specs as the Intel Core2 Duo... even though all the parts I bought assured full 64-bit Win 7 support. Gotta love it.

There are no safe setting when overclocking, its trial and error with always a chance of artifacts/corruption/overheating and possible permanent damage.

Alright, started getting the 1001 BugCheck crash with Event 41 Kernel-Power BSOD a few times not long ago, widely spaced out incidents (it will lock up, make a very weird repetitive noise through my stereo speakers and will also get black and white bars across the screen before the blue screen turns up and asks for restart option choice). And Event 4 k57nd60a has been ongoing for as long as I can remember.

Any ideas?

Memory exception but we need to examine the DMP files to find out why.

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP
We could also use some system information, which you can get easily by running msinfo32.
To do that go to start>run>type msinfo32>enter

When it is finished running go to file>save>name it and upload to us here.
You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb ... Read more

Hey guys,

I have a sony vaio vgn-aw31m model with a geforce 9600m gt and i am having problems updating it. My driver version dates back to 2008 so obviously i needed to update the driver. However after downloading them from the Nvdia website, it says that it could not find any compatible hardware. This seems to be a (reasonably) common problem. I have tried laptopvideo2go with no luck. This severely hampers my experiences with games etc. This forum is my last hope :/ if you could answer this you would be saving me a lot of money.

Cheers,

Tuinsmurf.

Hey i have a question regarding mobile graphics card. i was looking at two different laptops <http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9172851&st=asus+stylish+laptop&lp=2&type=product&cp=1&id=1218044029604>

and

<http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/laptop-studio-14z?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs>

one is equipped with a NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS and the other with a NVIDIA GeForce 9400M.

I found on notebookcheck that the 9400m is ranked higher than the 9300m, but the 9400 is an integrated card, and that the 9300m has dedicated memory! i am confused because i always believed that a dedicated card will be better than integrated so i am very confused!!!

please comment if you can clear this up for me! thanks much

Slow booting.  Really slow booting.  Seems that using an SD card for ReadyBoot/ReadyBoost is causing the issue.  But why?
On investigation, this only started happening back in November, which coincides with the install of KB2685813 UMDF 1.11 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2685813).
Could be a bit buggy....

I'll uninstall the update and see if this solves the issue.

Hmm.  Now that is interesting.
In my System event log I was getting an NTFS error (57: Failed to flush tlog).  I didn't think it was from my HDD, so using diskpart, I ran a 'CLEAN ALL' on my SD card, then recreated the FS as exFAT (previously it was NTFS).
Seems to be working now, although I'm getting VDS Basic Provider errors (Unexpected failure.  Error code:
[email protected]) "which can be safely ignored" (re: KB979391).
This begs the question: if it can be safely ignored, why is it raised in the first place?
Boot time is also restored to an acceptable timescale.

Is win 7 installed already?
Do you have a backup from before the problem started?
Do you have a working win 7 dvd to do a repair install?

There are several ways to find what the problem is. The best is to go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search). Go to the windows log>application tab.

You want to look for critical errors (they have red in the left column ).

When you find them you want to look for critical errors that say app hang, app crash, or anything that relates to the problem.

Hi,

For the past 3 nights between 2100 and 2200 Event Viewer has been recording a string of approximately 150 'Kernel Event Tracing'events. The system works ok, but as I sit and watch, the event viewer racks up about 1 every 5 seconds. I have attached a screen shot.

The PC is about 5 years old, but this install of Windows 7 SP1 was done about 1 month ago along with the addition of a Samsung SSD.
My searches have not found any suggested solutions other than system restore or download a 'Registry Fix' which doesn't appeal to me at all.

Any help would be appreciated.
Rob.

O... Here's my dillema.   My HP NVIDIA card (HP p/n 466762-001 rev:M03) in my HP Model: 9520f Windows 7 Ultimate machine failed.   I replaced it with an ASUS NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT card (p/n 5188-8004, asus p/n C403H) that came from a spare HP Pavillion Model a6150y Vista machine I had on hand. The initial VID/Graphics card failure and susequent replacement caused much havock with Windows and some other stuff (ie, not booting/loading Windows etc...) and after much effort I was able to get everything loading & working reasonable well again.   But the problem I'm still having is with the old drivers (removing them and all their remnants) and loading the new drivers for the ASUS NVIDIA card that is now in my machine.  I've tried normal uninstalls as well as the GURU 3D.com DDU uninstall.  I think (and it appeares) that all the old NVIDIA drvers and other software has been uninstalled because I can not find any of it in the normal locations.   But I am still unable to install the NVIDIA 8500GT drivers for the ASUS card from the NVIDIA site or even the NVIDIA drivers/software updates that Windows Update has detected and suggested in Windows updates.  The insalls start out fine but soon fail to complete. Evidently I (and my brother who was in my machine remotely for a good 6 hours because he is an IT/Computer tech and is ten times more knowledgable than I on this) are missing something very... Hi all,
I have a XPS 8300 from 2011.
My son wanted to upgrade his GPU (he has a Erazer 310 (www.inet.se/.../lenovo-erazer-x310-gtx-750) which has a Nvidia GTX 750 Ti like this one (www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-750-Ti-Desktop-Graphics-Card.126721.0.html)
So I thought it was the perfect time to take his 750 Ti and upgrade both PC's at the same time.
I took my GPU out of the XPS 8300 and inserted the 750 TI. Nothing happened. The PC did not recognize the card.
Then I started to read all types of discussions, problems, adventures and what not, about this PC and a GPU upgrade. Man, I was about to do a BIOS flashing without even knowing what that meant...I have to admit that it has been 2 very interesting days and I have learnt a lot and then...
Then I found the simpliest video with the simplest explanation on how to do proceed. I tried it and completely succeeded in about 15 minutes (plus 10 minutes of downloading a driver).
So, here is the link to the video. The video is in Spanish but these are the SO LOGICAL steps (www.youtube.com/watch):
I added two steps on my own and then followed the video:
1. My step: Turn on the PC and unistall the stock GPU (from the device manager)
2. Turn of the computer.
The video explanation starts in second 50:
3.Disconnect the power (for security reasons).
4. Open the case and extract the GPU you currently have (he does not show this in the video)
5. Check that at least you have 300 W. The XPS 8300 has a 460 W power supply so... Read more

On the website where they sell it its located under the tab Nvidia, yet if I check out Nvidias prducts page their 9400 GT looks completely different from this one. Then I check out ASUS page and there I find it. So what's the difference between ASUS and Nvidia, why do their cards have the same name, and why does the website im buying it from put the ASUS card under Nvidia products????

A:Difference between ASUS GeForce and Nvidia GeForce???

Nvidia designs and makes the GeForce line of graphics chips. Other manufacturers such as Asus, evga, BFX, PNY and others then use the Nvidia chips in their graphics card designs.

I have an older machine I use for backup (Dell OptiPlex 745) fairly well appointed, with an on-the-motherboard graphics adapter (Intel, I think) running one monitor and a plug-in nVidia based adapter, running two monitors. I was running Linux on it until January 2015, when I joined the Windows Insider Program and installed Win 10. At first the two nVidia-driven monitors would not work at all, but in a few months they started working after an update download from Microsoft (I was a "fast track" Insider). All was well until February 2016, when both nVidia monitors quit working and my WiFi card went dead. I tried a number of things, but no no avail. I got the nVidia-based monitors when I directly downloaded a driver from the manufacturer, but after that, when the first Microsoft update was downloaded, the nVidia-driven screens went blank. I really need three monitors for the work I do. I tried all sorts of things, including a hard disk wipe and complete reload of Win 10. No success. I just ran out of time to experiment with it after a few weeks.

I'm now very concerned about my main machine. It's an older custom-built machine with an Intel Core2 Q6600 processor and two graphics cards: a GeForce 8800GT and GeForce 9500GT, driving four monitors. I really can't screw up on my Win 7 to 10 upgrade and loose this machine because of bad device drives forced on me by Microsoft.

QUESTION: Does anyone have success with the 8800GT and/or 9500GT?

Starting a week ago, my PC began crashing due to a Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error.

This occurs at seemingly random times (i.e. not when it wakes up from sleep, etc.) and try as I might, I have not been able to successfully troubleshoot the issue.

I attached the data retrieved from the SF Diagnostic Tool. Please let me know if you need any additional information.

I greatly appreciate any help!

Hello,

I am thinking of getting a new graphics card for x-mas. I currently have a Geforce 8600 GT and i was looking at this GT 220.

Which is better? i think the 220 is but i just wanted some expert confirmation.

GT 220: http://www.siliconmadness.com/2009/07/nvidia-geforce-g-210-and-gt-220.html (scroll down past the 210)

8600 GT: http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_8600.html (The right Column)

A:NVIDIA GT 220 VS Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT

Why bother? If you want to upgrade from an 8600GT - you need to buy a card that has a noticable difference.

For example... the 9500/9400GTs are also pretty much re-badged 8600s. Think of the 220 as a smaller and cheaper to make version of the 8600GT with blu-ray decoding abilities. Its more like a bit better version of the 8600GTs.... that costs $65~95.

An ATI 4670 is about $60~95. Heres a nice one at $80: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161287&cm_re=4670-_-14-161-287-_-Product

But for real big speed bumps - look at ATI 4800s/5700s or at least a GTX 260... or even the GT250 (which is a 9800GT which is a 8800GT - UGH! )
These cards are about $ 120~200.

Your power supply will also be important too. Do you know your brand and model number?

Also your computers own performance.

Laterly I've been having trouble with my computer crashing, but not rebooting straight away. To restart the computer I have to manually turn the PC off by the power switch.

After checking the event viewer I have found that each time the computer has crashed there is a log for "Kernel-Power" with Event ID: 41.

Just got this new computer earlier this month and since I have had 3 BSOD's. The first happened while watching a Youtube Video, the second while watching Plex, and the third while I was watching Twitch. They come up with the same error each time and it's "Kernel-Power" Event ID 41 Task Category (63) I am BEGGING someone to help me figure out what it could be and help me fix it. This is a brand new computer and I was hoping to have some solution or idea as to what it could be. I have attached what I believe it the proper .dmp zip of the most recent event.

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone in advance for helping me through this.

EDIT: I have attached all 3 of the .dmp's from all 3 crashes.

So sorry for posting it in the wrong thread earlier!

Hi. I recently did a fresh install of Windows 8.1 because of this problem and thought that would fix it. After a few days my computer would freeze with a loud sound coming through the speakers and then restart automatically after. The event viewer lists Kernel-Power event ID 41. This is also a brand new computer I built.

Hello,

My PC randomly and abruptly restarts, giving me a Kernel Power Event 41.
It has been happening almost as long as I've had the PC.
I could be browsing the web or playing a game, when the screen turns black and after about 3 seconds, the motherboard screen appears.

Although I have unticked "Automatically Restart", it still does the same thing.

Something to note is that at a time very close to the Kernel Power Event 41 is an Event ID 219_Windows Kernel PNP. When I was installing everything back when I built the PC, the NEC USB3 Driver failed to install properly.

Here is the Event Data for the Kernel Power Event 41:

Hi there,

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.

* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

Hi everyone.. im not sure where to post this..i need some help here..

Here's the scenario:

When i first got my computer,there wasnt any noise during startup..there's some sort of noise when it starts up now,been at it for months..that doesnt really bother me..

Today,i was playing an online game when suddenly my screen turned black and stuffs,it says no signal on my monitor,then suddenly it came back up with some error and on the bottom right it says it had just recoverd from some kernel error..

I ignored it and continued playing and suddenly around 30 secs later it frozed and theres some beeping sounds non-stop until i forced shutdown via the power button..

I checked the eventlog and found out about this event 41 id problem..im not sure of what to do and what to provide..please help me.

Update: currently updating this in safemode with networking..as i was surfing the net earlier,the screen turned a lil pink..and i could do anything but move the mouse.. so i forced shutdown again and went to safe mode..sigh.

Hello,

I would start by updating this old, 2005 driver. One of most causes of BSOD. See the instruction below regarding on updating it.

Code:
fffff880`0417d000 fffff880`04185000 ASACPI ASACPI.sys Mon Mar 28 15:30:36 2005 (42476C4C)

Quote:
The 2005 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.
Please visit this link: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- download_item_mkt
Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit " (it's about the 8th item down).
Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT 2005).

A:Kernel power event 41, please help!

We do need the actual DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

It is almost impossible to spot trends from a single DMP file so if you have m ore than one please upload them. If you only have one please wait until the computer crashes again then upload both.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Zip up the copy.

*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.
To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.

Sorry to add another problem to the pile of Event 41s,

Mobo: ASRock FM2A88X-ITX+
RAM: 16GB Team Vulcan (Also attempted with G.Skill Ripjaws, no change)
CPU: AMD A10-7870K Radeon R7 @ 3.9 GHz
GPU: AMD R9 280X @ 3GB (PowerColor)
PSU: Corsair 600W (Had 500W, believed issue to be related with power, replaced with 600W, no change.)
Storage: 120GB Sandisk SSD / 1TB HGST 2.5" @ 5400RPM

The issue seems to happen during video games (World of Warcraft, Fallout 4, and Heroes of the Storm). It has happened as well simply using Google Chrome and Skype.

I have ran every single malware/spyware/adware/antivirus program that I can get my hands on, no change. I have used several registry repair/optimization programs (trusted ones), no change.

I'm A+/Net+/ACMT certified, and I doubt it's anything hardware-wise. Temps are staying below scary levels and almost every part has been replaced with a KG I had laying around.

Thanks for everything in advance!

Hi all,

I've read through the responses for this same issue related to Windows 7 but am not familiar enough with Windows 8 to know if the same fixes would apply.

I got my new ASUS laptop on Mother's Day this year, and the first event happened a week later. I've had this same event happen 6 times since then as shown by the attached image.

I'm comfortable with computers but am not an IT person so I'm not comfortable performing tasks within my system unless I know what the heck I'm doing or why.

I have no clue why this is happening. Suggestions from the W7 forum said overclocking (it's not), heat (this last time it had been in sleep mode while I was out and within moments of waking it up it crashed), sudden loss of power (it's plugged in AND has 100% battery left) and so on. In other words, it doesn't appear to be related to any of those things. It just randomly happens.

Can someone please tell me 1) why this keeps happening and 2) how to fix it? I've been very disappointed in my new laptop since getting it; I've NEVER had such issues with a new computer before. Oh...and I thoroughly dislike Windows 8 and I doubt I'm alone in that view.

Thanks!

A:Kernel-power 41 event - how to fix?

Just my two cents but consider yourself very lucky to have only received 6 of those Event ID 41 notices over a two-month timeframe. This is a fairly common anomaly and if it doesn't happen on regular basis, I wouldn't worry about it at all.

I built my own computer couple of weeks ago. At first, I was having BSOD which happens 1 time every 2-3 days. It was IRQL_NOT_EQUAL_OR_LESS. I did several different research and post my another thread about it. It seem to work now since I download the latest driver for video card then new problem appear which is Kernel-Power Event ID 41. It happens at random times even if I'm playing games, surfing website or computer idle. It looks like it's already shut down to black screen while my computer is running and my monitor is on. I put an attachment but there is no dmp.file since I followed all the instruction, maybe i fixed it few days ago which is a good thing but I need to find out how I can get rid of black screen that happen sometimes. I hope there's all information you need in the upload file. I'm looking forward to hear from you soon and I will check this often and hopefully get it solved tonight or so.

A:Kernel-Power - Event ID 41 - Pls help

Hi ramon82,

Thread has been moved to App/Crashes/Hangs part of the forum instead. The Kernel-Power error is mostly common when the computer doesn't have enough power to keep all components running. Meaning your PSU is most likely damaged/about to die, or you have hardware that drains more power than your PSU can deliver.

Please get back to us with your computers specification.

As a general tip;
Try removing all external harddrives, webcams etc (everything USB/External that drains power from the computer) and run with Mouse/Keyboard only, and see if it reoccurs.

I keep getting a Kernel Power Critical error 41 at random times. I have no rhyme or reason to decipher why the crashes are occurring. Here are my dumps.

A:Kernel Power 41 Event

Hi.

They're memory type of errors associated with different drivers and .exe.

Check that the correct Vdimm (RAM voltage) and timings are set in the bios specific to your RAM modules. Visit RAM maker's site for details and adjust accordingly.

Edit - According to this (if it's for your specific RAM modules), 1.5v is default so leave that alone. You could set timings to 9-9-9-24 though.

Run Memtest overnight to see if it picks up on any errors.

Hello all,

Been having unexpected crashes lately on my Pc. I am running windows 7 ultimate x64. And I have been getting the Kernel-power 41. The events before the crash are random. I have read a couple of posts on this forum but I cant seem to find the ones I used yesterday to link to.

So I ran a cpu stress test for 8 hours and it was fine. And a memtest for 8 hours no errors. And I just finished a 8 hour gpu stress test and that went fine.

This is the log form the crash:

Hello,

This is an issue that's been happening with my computer for about a month now. My computer will randomly shut off ~10-30 minutes after turning on. When I turn my computer on again (after it shuts itself off), it takes 1-3 attempts for it to actually boot properly.. during this time my fan is going nuts and is really loud. One of the first times this happened, I received a BSOD - but I haven't received any others since.

I'd also like to point out that my brother is having this exact same issue and it started to both of us around the same time... (about a month ago)

Here's the event description and my computer details:

Upload Dump Files:
Please go to C:\Windows\Minidump and zip up the contents of the folder. Then upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
Left click on the first minidump file.
Hold down the "Shift" key and left click on the last minidump file.
Right click on the blue highlighted area and select "Send to"
Select "Compressed (zipped) folder" and note where the folder is saved.
Upload that .zip file with your next post.

If you have issues with "Access Denied" errors, try copying the files to your desktop and zipping them up from there. If it still won't let you zip them up, post back for further advice.

If you don't have anything in that folder, please check in C:\Windows for a file named MEMORY.DMP. If you find it, zip it up and upload it to a free file hosting service - then post the link to it.
Then, follow the directions here to set your system for Minidumps (much smaller than the MEMORY.DMP file): Set MiniDump

Well... I give up. I built my own machine (The specs can be seen below) and no matter what I have tried... nothing has worked. Whenever I attempt to render a video, or play a heavy game (Borderlands, Skyrim, etc.) It will work for a while, then BAM, screen goes black a reboots out of nowhere! Spending 10 hours on a VERY serious video and not being able to render is making me furious. I am desperate for help and cannot find any solution. All the "Solutions" I've seen in other forums or other posts have not worked for me. I have done some serious looking, and here's what I have tried, that has failed.

1. Update all drivers
2. Disable 1 of 2 sound drivers
3. Make sure CPU is not overheating (I ran cinibench a few times to try and cause the crash to see if it was the cpu, and it ran just fine, but I may be missing something so this one really isn't "Confirmed")
4. Make sure GPU isn't overheating (GPU doesn't even get close to overheating)
5. Make sure any other essential component isn't overheating.
6. Disabled "Automatic Restart" for system failure.
7. Update realtek sound drivers... again...
8. Performing Windows Memory Diagnostic
9. Scream into a pillow
10. Curl up in fetal position in corner of room.
11. I attempted many different methods of troubleshooting I cannot remember at the moment... but just know... I have tried almost anything anybody has suggested and nothing... NOTHING has worked.

Memtest on a bootable CD is more conclusive then the Windows Memory test.

Hi,

I Build this PC in April 2012, so its about 8 months old. It did run perfectly without any serious errors until now. Now i experience the system hanging, so i can't move the mouse anymore, and pushing the "Caps Lock" or the "Scroll Lock" on the Keyboard don't turn on the respective lights on it, so i guess it's a hard hang.

In the Event Viewer i see a "Event 41, Kernel-Power" critical event, and i had this event so far 10 times. The first time it happened at 12/5/2012, and there it has some bug-check parameters. All later events; 12/22/2012, 12/23/2012(twice that day), 12/25/2012(also twice), 12/26/2012, 12/27/2012, 12/29/2012, 12/30/2012; don't show any Bug-check parameters at all, only a zero value.

As far as i could investigate, it's probably a hardware error, but i not rule out that a software error could be the culprit. The only Hardware change this PC got apart from its building in April was a External Hard drive i bought towards end of November, a Western Digital My Book. But it's got it's own power source and it's not always running, so it can not be that my PSU is to weak.

I run the SF_Diagnostic_Tool with "grab all", and put the zip to this thread, so i save myself to list up what's in my PC . I hope someone can tell me, where to start with the repairs, those freezes annoy me. One more thing, it seems to mostly happen, when i am AFK and let the PC do something like download a big file, or big file movement (to and from... Read more

A:Win 7 Kernel-Power Event ID 41 (63)

Kernel-Power Event ID 41 simply means what you already know the PC shut down unexpectedly either on it's own or because it bsod'd and you cut the power or hit the reset switch.

Assuming it does it shut off without a BSOD lets get a look at the temps and voltages.
D/L and run Hardware Monitor do something intense like a virus scan or gaming for a bit, Alt+Tab back to HWM expand all the trees and use the Win7 snipping tool to grab a screen shot of the HWM window, post the screen shot using the paperclip button in the advanced message box(Go Advanced button).

Of the 6 .dmp files from this year 5 are blaming a native Windows driver pci.sys which is most likely means it is the driver finding a fault and calling for a stop.
1 blaming the Nvidia driver.

If the Bsod's are continuing lets run driver verifier and see if it pokes a rouge driver into revealing itself.
> Follow the instructions here, make sure to set a restore point before enabling verifier, also if you do not have Windows disk create a Windows repair disk verfier set up instructions here>
http://www.techsupportforum.com/foru...ed-473665.html

And of run Memtest86+ to test the ram, you have quite a bit of ram so testing for 6 passes will take quite a bit of time.

A:BSOD Event 41 Kernel Power

You have 2 STOP 0xF4 errors caused by hardware, and one STOP 0x116 error caused by video drivers/video card.

But, there are not any memory dump files in the attached zip file. Please do the following:

Quote:

If you find it, zip it up and upload it to a free file hosting service (not RapidShare as the analysts usually can't download from it) - then post the link to it.
Then, follow the directions here to set your system for Minidumps (much smaller than the MEMORY.DMP file): http://www.carrona.org/setmini.html

Since the errors seem to point to your video card, try the stuff at this link first: http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-loc...eshooting.html

My issue started 2 weeks ago. The computer would just shut off and would not turn back on via the power button on the front panel. I would switch the power switch on the PSU of then back on and the PC would turn itself on again. There is no BSOD with this error.

It would happen at random. Sometimes back to back or it would go 3 days and it didn't matter what the PC was doing; heavy gaming, 3D modeling, or just sitting idle.

My initial research on Google often mentioned this error with a bad or failing PSU.

So, on 3/19/16 I purchased a brand new EVGA 750 P2 Supernova

Everything was good until just now. I was watching some YouTube videos and she went off.

So, now I am lost at where to look. I'm sure the PSU is good, well, 99.9% sure since it is new.

The only thing I tried was to set the BIOS back to default optimized settings.

I'm considering a full reformat but I am hoping someone may have some other information on this Event Error and things I could try or test.

Below is the error info.

This event just tells you did a hard reset to revive your box after a crash or freeze - unfortunately there are no errors when the system is freezing.

Hello everyone. I recently purchase parts from newegg.com and built a custom gaming rig. The PC worked flawlessly the first few days then received 8 BSODs which happened consecutively (in intervals of 5-10 minutes). During that time, I wasnt really doing anything demanding (surfing the internet, browsing folders). As of right now, the PC is working fine and haven't had a BSOD in the last 3 days. Yet, I am still worried.

Please help. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Full Retail -all MS updates installed
Hardware is less than 2 weeks old
Install is less than 2 days old
Latest drivers installed

The first crash seemed to be random. The second happened as I was plugging in a usb extension cable. The usb might be coincidence because it works fine now. I have run full tests on the RAM, CPU and GPUs and everything seems work 100% stable. I am able to run intensive programs without problems, so Im not sure what is causing this. The machine is on a 1Kw PSU, so power shouldn't be an issue.

Update after deanp's post

To put in perspective the events leading up to these errors. I activated a system restore yesterday and then after the system rebooted I got a BSOD at start up, after attempting to fix the issue with StartUp Repair I was informed that I couldn't and was left with either the option to attempt to repair Windows or go with a new installation. I chose a new installation.

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium.

Both errors occurred at 5:24 a.m. this morning and repeated at 12:20 p.m. The files in quotations were different in each instance. I would like to know if this is something to be concerned about and if possible how to fix it. Thank you.

edit: Just occurred after installing an app. 3:42 p.m.

My laptop just freezes. I have check event viewer and mostly found error is event id 41 source kernel-power following details
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

Another problem is that my system restore isnt working either. I am really confused. What should I do?

**A Microsoft article for you to peruse -
Windows Kernel event ID 41 error in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2: “The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first”

**System Restore links -

**If your system is crashing we need the DMP files for analysis.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.
The procedure:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.

Hello,

I've been encountering some nasty crashes while gaming.

The screen will flicker and stay black and the sound will become garbled and loop endlessly until I press the reset button. No keyboard commands will work.

Originally I thought it was an issue specific to Mass Effect (due to known sound card compatability issues) but I've now noticed the issue in other games like Mass Effect 2 and Aliens Vs Predator.

I don't seem to recall ever seeing the issue in general computer use or other viewing other media.

I recently became acquainted with Event Viewer which is where I discovered this "Event ID 41" notification. Apparently I've had 25 instances of this in the last 2 months.

Here are my specifications and a DirectX report:

Processor: Intel Core i7 920 (overlocked after the crashes to 3.0 Ghz)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X58-UD5P
Memory: Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600 Mhz
Video Card: GeForce GTX 285 SLI (XFX factory overclocked)
Sound Card: Creative X-Fi Titanium PCI-E
Operating System: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
Power Supply: Antec Truepower Quattro 850W

All drivers are up to date, official, PC temperatures are all within normal ranges and the only hardware I've overclocked personally is the processor. The crashes are experienced regardless if it's overclocked or not.

Thanks for your time.
