BSOD playing Ragnarok 2, error 1000008e

Q: BSOD playing Ragnarok 2, error 1000008e

Hello everyone, been having this issues for a long time. Though I've recently been trying to pinpoint exactly what's going wrong since I really like this computer and want to play more Steam. Sometimes when I'm watching a video, for example, it'll stall and the BSOD pops up but restarts so quickly, I don't have time to see what the code was. Other times, it'll just stop mid-game, flash on screen, restart etc.

Now, this is one BSOD I get, I also get another one citing "IRQL equal not equal", but if anything, any help is appreciated.

Some comp specs:
OS: Win 7 Home Pre
Age: About 3-4 years old
Legit: Installed OS once on this comp only

A: BSOD playing Ragnarok 2, error 1000008e

Apparently it is avast! Virtualization Driver that is causing the BSOD there.

Code:

Description here: Driver Reference Table - aswSnx.SYS

Uninstall Avast using Avast Uninstall Utility. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.
Click on the Start button
Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the “Startup” tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.
Let us know the results.

Hello! I am very new to this whole shebang so, forgive me if I don't have everything super straight.

Recently, I downloaded and installed an old game favorite of mine, called Ragnarok Online. Originally made in 2000, the game is advised to run on XP or Vista. I do, however, have many friends whom run this game on Windows 7 just fine.

After installing this game and allowing it to patch, I entered the game with no problems. During gameplay however, my system began to blue screen whenever I would either
A: ) Attack a monster
or B: )Load a new screen

I have more than one character, and the problem has occurred on 2 out of three of them.

I have attempted these things to fix this situation:
A: )Uninstall the game and it's components and Reinstall it/repatch it.
B: )Clean my Registry
C: )Change my graphics card (My first one was dying anyway, and I had thought that, that might be the problem.)
D: )Download the Catalyst system driver for my new Graphics card (It is an ATI Radeon HD 4800)

None of these things have fixed my problem. I have included the folder of my minidump. My computer would for some reason not allow me to save my Performance Data however, so I do apologize. If you have any ideas for that, please let me know and I will get that to you as well.

Hi new to the forums and was hoping to find a little help. I built this computer over the last summer in an attempt at creating a low-budget gaming system. It seems to work great with everything except games... I played Everquest 2 on it for a while and that was where I first began encountering the annoying 1000008e error that would immediately reboot my comp without warning. I had no idea how to fix this other than playing on lower graphics, which sometimes helped.

I stopped playing games on this comp about 6 months ago and just started gaming on it again with Trion Worlds new RIFT MMORPG beta. First attempt at running the beta and my system reboots without even opening a window for the game. So I googled crap and tried to find a solution. Ended up just updating every driver I could find, and fixed some issues with my Microsoft .NET Framework registry files and Microsoft Silverlight. After that it seemed to be playable on high level graphics and then, boom, reboot outta nowhere. Granted it did freeze a couple times forcing me to reboot but it eventually did it on its own.

I did a HDD check, Ive made sure my graphics drivers r up-to-date and I have Norton run virus checks all the time and can't figure out *** is causing these errors. I can only suspect that maybe the GPU and/or CPU are overheating (I use the several fans in the chassis and provided with the GPU/CPU/PSU, nothing fancy), something is wrong with my Radeon HD 4650, maybe my RAM is faulty, or maybe certain r... May I ask you some questions before we start?

Earlier you had a nvidia GPU? The crash dumps upto 01.04.2013 indicates to nvidia GPU (a very known issue it was).

Probably due to those crashes you changed the GPU? The crashes of 24.04.2013 onwards are indicating to ATI GPU. This is also a very known issue, but a worst one. Let us discuss.

It is a bugcheck inherent with the ATI drivers. Universal. We dont know why it happens (AMD keeps it private). But we may try to troubleshoot.

Have you updated the display driver in between? If so, roll back to the earlier driver that worked good there.
Device Manager - Roll Back Driver

If not, uninstall the ATI/AMD display driver in Control Panel > Programs and features. Then follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling

When done, download an earlier version of display driver from AMD Graphics Drivers & Software . Dont install CCC.

Does it work? If not, better you RMA the ATI GPU, as it is a new one.

On a serious side note, using two real time protection programs are harmful.

Hi guys,

I'll go straight right to the point:

I'm using a 13.3" macbook, core 2 duo 2.13 GHz, 2GB ram, 10.6.3 snow leopard. This might not have any connection to my problem but I'm including every info I could think of so I could help you help me.

I've installed bootcamp and windows vista. My main reason for doing so (aside from having the best of both worlds with mac and windows), is to be able to play Ragnarok Online. Everything was working fine, meaning no problems with the boot camp and windows nor with mac. It goes without saying that I'm able to play the game. However, just last week, when I'm about to play, I got a BSOD Stop 0X7E error. Please see the attached image. Since then, I'm not able to run the client anymore and I always get the BSOD.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much.

Because this is a BSOD, this needs to be in the Windows Vista form, I'll move it so you can get the help you need.

Hey!

I've encountered an error as I've been trying to play Ragnarok! I'm trying to get onto the ImpactRO Brazil server, and I'm pretty sure I've installed everything that's needed.

The error is a window that comes up. It says:
The procedure entry point [email protected] could not be located in the dynamic link library mss32.dll.

I have no idea what any of it means! Could it be due to a missing file or something?

Please help! End my headache...

Can you post a dump file?

How large is your power supply?

Have you tested memory?

MemScope (Floppy and CD images.)
Microsoft Memory Test (floppy or CD ISO image)
Memtest86

If you have enough memory sticks, you can test them by removing one at a time and see if the problem disappears.

If you are running Vista and can boot up, go to Start > Search and type:

mdsched.exe

Choose to run a memory diagnostic on next boot. Or, you can boot from the DVD and run it from there.

A:BSOD on Windows 7, BCCode 1000008e

win32k.sys is a Windows OS drivers and OS drivers are usually too general to be of much diagnostic help. However, both error codes are 0x8E and these are almost always caused by hardware and are a good indicator that the issue might be corrupted memory.

Therefore we advise running memtest on your RAM.

See the link below and follow the instructions. There is a newer version than what is listed; use the newer. If you need to see what the Memtest screen looks like go to reply #21. The third screen is the Memtest screen.

Step1 - Let it run for a LONG time. The rule is a minimum of 7 Passes; the more Passes after 7 so much the better. The only exception is if you start getting errors before 7 Passes then you can skip to Step 2.

There are 8 individual tests per Pass. Many people will start this test before going to bed and check it the next day.

If you have errors you have corrupted memory and it needs to be replaced.

Step 2 ? Because of errors you need to run this test per stick of RAM. Take out one and run the test. Then take that one out and put the other in and run the test. If you start getting errors before 7 Passes you know that stick is corrupted and you don?t need to run the test any further on that stick.

Hi all,

This problem has been persisting for about 3 months now and I just want to get it sorted. I have looked through my event viewer and found the needed details I think. These are below:

Error code - 10008e
Parameter 1 - c0000005
Parameter 2 - b8f3f232
Parameter 3 - b2cc7a40
Parameter 4 - 00000000

If someone could tell me how to sort this I would be very appreciative.

Thanks
Ryan

A:1000008e-BSOD-device or driver. Need some help

Navigate to C:/Windows/minidump. There should be a few files in there. Take all of those files and zip them up into one .zip file. Please upload that to your next post.

With these files - I can hopefully determine the exact cause of your BSOD.

You guys? I turned on my computer and it gave me this error that says Windows has recovered from a serious error:

BCCode : 1000008e BCP1 : C0000005 BCP2 : 805BB444 BCP3 : ACC66910
BCP4 : 00000000 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 3_0 Product : 256_1

The following files included in error report

C:\DOCUME~1\Kim\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERebf1.dir00\Mini101608-01.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\Kim\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERebf1.dir00\sysdata.xml

It directed me to this site:

http://wer.microsoft.com/responses/....3.0?SGD=a9f1e6c2-4cb2-4781-bfa7-b42b07e76f53

I never got a blue screen as the site says.

But? I didn't do anything new ever since I had a guy fix my computer. It's been a week since he fixed my computer with no problems. He couldn't get into RAID, so that could be an existing problem with the machine (but then again, there was stuff on one of the drives and maybe that was the reason?)

The only things new I have done is remove all the stuff off of the other drive, since I ended up with another drive. It included Documents and Settings... but (it was from a harddrive from a computer I once had and broke... and I didn't ever have this hooked up, I guess... so I didn't even know I still had it on there).

But I did that at least 5 days ago.

I am afraid if I shut off my computer, I will not be able to get it to start again,

A:BCCode : 1000008e Error

The only different thing about my computer after he fixed it is that when I do start it, it goes to this black screen from which I think you are supposed to get into RAID from... but it says so many seconds to boot, and you ahve to wait until the seconds count down for Windows to start.

That didn't happen this time, when I got this error.

Hello, I have tried to troubleshoot this machine via remote from my XP system.
The affected system's specs are:

AsRock N68-S3 UCC Mainboard Athlon II X2 250 / 3GHz CPU
2 GB DDR3-1333 Team Value CL 9 RAM

The box was built by a small retail store, OEM Windows Home Premium SP1 POLISH installed by myself.

The system is two weeks old. BSODs have been have been appearing from the outset, 1-2 times a day, with no apparent trigger. I ran the debugger and it reports this:

BugCheck 1000008E, {c0000005, 82d0ebcb, 97653b66, 0}
Probably caused by : ntkrpamp.exe ( nt!SMKM_STORE::SmStWorkItemQueue+de )

I don't really know what to make of it. I'm including the files as per the instructions. Any help is greatly appreciated.

PS. Apologies for the system health report being in Polish, I included it anyway. I am alsoadding the Debug report I made myself.

Hi and welcome
Memory corruption probably caused by a driver. please run these two tests

1-Memtest.

*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program.

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

2-Driver verifier

A:Windows Restarting 1000008e error

Four of these crashes (0x8E) were caused by KmWpsMs.sys, all I could find about this is it is some sort of multiuser PCI VGA driver.

One crash was caused by your C Media Audio driver service.

Another crash was caused by sysaudio.sys (which is process System Audio WDM Filter and belongs to the Microsoft Kernel System Audio Device ).

Now can you please give us complete system specifications of your PC ?

In the meantime, also uninstall currently installed audio drivers, remove any left over files with Driver Sweeper or Driver Cleaner Pro. Then download latest audio drivers from your motherboard/audio solution provider's site and install these. Regards

I have experienced windows reboots due to stop error like 000000c2 or 100008e. First I have reinstalled windows and all the adjacent software, but it seems the problem keeps on hitting me again. Last week I have connected my notebook to internet and since then I have had two windows suddenly reboots. I don't think it's a virus 'cause I'm running Kaspersky, with a Sygate firewall and a Ad-Aware real time protection spyware shield. Could you please give me an advice regarding these issues.

While I would typically just reimage this device, I'm trying to save a little time cause I'm swamped right now. Hopefully you fine folks can see what I'm missing, otherwise I'll just spin up from new image after I finish some memtest passes.

This is a cleanly reimaged ThinkPad T410, fully patched & upgraded with Lenovo recommended updates. Was working without issue before this reinstall. I keep getting the attached BSOD which is very crytpic to me. I'm typically able to determine the driver related toa BSOD and troubleshoot accordingly but this one has me stumped.

Hello Valdr,Since you have a HJT log posted in the HijackThis Logs and Malware Removal forum, I'm going to close this Topic. You shouldn't make any changes to your system, while your HJT log is posted, as that could change the results of the posted log, making it difficult to properly clean your system. At this point, the HJT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to send me a PM.

Hello sevenforums Community,
since about month im getting Bluescreens, which never happened before in 4 years.
It usually get the when i watch streams on twitch (which didnt happen since 1 week on my account though) or currently while playing League of Legends.
But they dont come every game, so i can for example play 4 games in a row and nothing happens or i get 3 one them in one game. Also they can come at any game time. It is kind of random to me how they appear.
The last two days I got about 7 so i really need help from u guys.
In the last two weeks i always got this message (STOP : 0x00007A (0xFFFF6FC50023598,0xFFFFFFFFC000000E,0x000000002A991880,0xFFFFF8A0046B30BE) ) without a sound and the pc didnt instantly reboot.
But the last days the Blackscreen stayed like 4 second so i couldnt see the error message on it, so i dont know if the error changed but there was this buzzing sound.

I'm in great desperation so I opted to consult you guys here in Techspot. My pc was initially formatted last March 9, 2012, and it suddenly rebooted in March 14 while watching some streams (animecrazy.net) on the net. So I decided to uncheck the "Automatically Restart" under the System Failure tab of Startup & Recovery. Thus, the BSODs began. As much as I wanted to install windows debugger to read those minidump, I cannot because of my OS. And I'm scared to try the memtest since I'm not pro in PC troubleshooting. My last resort is to install the "Service Pack 3" so I could install Windows Debugger here, but I'm still hesitant. Attached here is the first dump file I had. Hope you guys can help me out.. A:BSOD playing WoW/Playing music, error SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEP

Is there any particular reason that you are not using UEFI or Secure Boot?
In general this model comes with UEFI and Secure Boot enabled.

Have you set the time and time zone on your system? (the flag on your profile says Minnesota, but the time is set to Pacific Daylight time).

The system also comes with a 1 tB HDD, but now has an SSD installed - did you have someone install the SSD and move the operating system for you? (We do this at work quite often - normally we do it by cloning the hard drive to the SSD).

I'd suggest running a memory diagnostic, as one of the memory dumps has an error that is suggestive of memory problems (hardware): Memory Diagnostics You may also want to run the free hardware diagnostics from here: Hardware Diagnostics

Beyond that, I'd suggest visiting the Asus website and updating ALL of the drivers there.
To start with, go by the dates on the drivers in the memory dump that I've listed below.

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

All four of your errors cite the same Nvidia display driver nv4_disp.dll

I suggest doing the following:

1. Download Driver Cleaner Pro or Driver Sweeper (both have free versions) to your desktop screen and install.

2. Download the latest diver(s) for your video card but don't install them.

3. Uninstall your video card drivers and reboot your PC into Safe Mode. Run Driver Cleaner Pro or Driver Sweeper. If it doesn't find any video card drivers that is quite okay.

4. Reboot and install new video card drivers.

My computer has been doing this a lot recently and its started doing it more often, usually the 0x0000003b code pops up when either windows media player is on or when it is stood idle for a while. Using NirSoft's bluescreen viewer it stating that the ntoskrnl.exe is the problem in all minidumps, it also sometimes states nvator64.sys is the other file that causes the bluescreen. i have attached the minidumps to this and hopefully someone will tell me how to fix it, i have checked online and gathered it down to these 3 options... either my PSU is not powerful enough to support the payload, my HDD is corrupt or the RAM is stating to fail. Thank you for the people who can help! as a side note, i have tried formatting and reinstalling my windows 7 64bit ultimate, but the BSOD can appear on setup and did at one point so i had to renew the whole setup, recently it has started doing it a lot more. one happened not too long ago and also had the CDD.dll file as an error. Also before anyone says it, YES MY DRIVERS ARE ALL UP TO DATE! there are literally no updates available for my hardware which is why i think its either my HDD or RAM.

My Specs:
AMD Athlon II X2 245 2.91 Dualcore
Gigabyte M52LT-D3
4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 RAM (not sure on the manufacturer)
NVIDIA Geforce GT 440

I have attached information via the instructions in thread.

I just signed up and added my system specs but i just remembered that i left out a lil info for the CPU- its o/c stable at 4.2 and has been absolutely stable for nearly 2 years now.

with that out of the way... I hope you guys can help and that my registration time spent will be worth it and that I can help out in other areas... as BSOD troubleshooting is not a skill of mine.

I had a Gigabyte r9 280x vid card that would constantly crash my computer... could not get through a round of bf4. I took it back and got an ASUS version of the same chipset and it seemed to solve most of the crashes. I can play for a couple hours but it will still crash eventually. and its not the same type of crash i used to get either... this type eventually goes to a blue screen instead of indefinitely frozen and forced to hard reset. Im uploading the system dump... i hope i did it right. if not... just let me know so i can re upload it. thanks a million if you can help me out.

I have been trying to play Dragons Age: Inquisition on my computer for quite some time and it always ends up in a BSOD with the WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR. I do play other games and none of them have resulted in BSODs so I am at a loss how to proceed.

Hello,

Over the last few months I have encountered repeated BSOD crashes on my desktop. The two error codes I got before my computer reset (like lighting fast) was error 0x0000007e and error 0x000000D6.

I have had previous crashes (BSOD) but not this frequently and I occasionally (as in like once/twice in a few months) get video driver crashes (yet apparently I am up to date driver-wise).

I have noticed a lot that these crashes seem to occur when I am running world of warcraft (haters gonna hate etc) or when I am using google chrome on multiple windows.

Attached is the requested zip file with all the logs and details etc as per the instructions at the top of this forum.

Any help you guys could give would be appreciated

perfmon reports that your Bluetooth is disabled. Please re-enable the Bluetooth and update it's drivers. If you want to re-disable it, feel free to do so after updating the drivers.

There are issues reported with your video drivers - both Intel and nVidia.
As such I suggest that you update:
- the Intel video drivers from http://downloadcenter.intel.com
- the nVidia video drivers from World Leader in Visual Computing Technologies | NVIDIA
- the switching software that controls switching between the video cards (you may have to contact Dell about this).

Be sure to blow out the vents on the laptop with canned air (DON'T use an air compressor or a vacuum as they can cause damage to the system's components). When using the laptop make sure that all vents are free of obstructions (including those that rest on your lap). I also suggest using a cooling pad or using the laptop on a hard surface to help aid in cooling.

I've also noted that you have a USB XBox controller. These are known to cause BSOD's in some Win7 systems. Additionally, the drivers haven't been updated since 2009. I suggest that you uninstall the software for this device, and then physically remove it from your system. Once the system is stabilized again, then feel free to install a fresh copy of the software in order to use the device.

Hamachi and MagicISO both have drivers dating from 2009 - I'd suggest removing them from your system.

If the above steps don't stop the BSOD's, please zip up and upload a... Read more

Hi guys,

First I would just like to explain what has happened in the past. My computer was overclocked to 3.4GHz and so was my gpu. It was an otherwise stable system but it would crash whilst I was playing Mafia II, Battlefield BC2 and Battlefield 3. What would happen is the game would sometimes crash to desktop with graphical glitches on pretty much everything or it would just blue screen and restart without actually displaying the blue screen.

I tried many solutions I found online, even a clean install but none worked until I found a post on another forum that suggested a voltage in the bios was too high. I then reset the bios by taking out the battery and replacing it and booted up with everything set to auto. From what I would tell this has resolved my initial problem as I would play Mafia 2 all day and BF:BC2 too and it would not crash.

I have not played BF3 for a while but I decided I wanted to play a few games last night, I ended up playing for about an hour maximum and I then quit the game. About 30 seconds after I quit the game my computer crashed and I was greeted with the loud kind of buzzing noise like the tripods make on war of the worlds. I rebooted to see the screen that tells you your computer has crashed and it displayed the error code 124. I am not sure if this crash is related to BF3 or something else but I would much appreciate it if you can help me get to the bottom of this.

The PC is just over a year old.

Hello seven forums,

I just purchased BF3 for PC today, and after installing I started a game and a few minutes into my game i ran into a BSOD error, which I have never had before on this computer considering that I just purchased it 3 months ago. I've been getting BSODs while under load lately, and I'm not sure what the direct cause is. I've installed every GPU driver made for my card, yet it doesn't matter. I even just did a clean install of Windows a couple weeks ago. It usually happens while rendering in Inventor, or BF3, or just under high load.

Some BSODs I get:
0x000000D1
0x000000E1
After running Verifier, 0x000000C4

I did include two dumps in a zip from today. the 13899-01 one is after running Verifier.

I'm almost positive it's my GPU, but I would rather find out before I go buy a new one. Haha

This has recently started happening. I logged on WoW and began to notice these weird texture issues. It looks like a bunch of black lines all over the place. At first, I thought it was a WoW issue but it turns out to happen in any other game or any thing that requires graphics such as a video. It only blue screens on WoW. I haven't tried it on other games with the current drivers. I spoke with one of the Battle.net blue posters and we tried a bunch of things. I uninstalled all display drivers and used driver sweeper to get the left over files. I reinstalled the current version but got the same issue. I installed the new 12.11 beta drivers but got the same issue. I rolled back to 12.8 I believe and although I didn't get a blue screen on WoW, I was still getting the graphic issues. I tried DOTA 2 with these graphics and got the same thing. Instead of getting a bluescreen with those drivers, the game would randomly crash or become unresponsive. I suppose that's better than BSOD. I tried to do a system restore to last week but all of my restore points are from after the problems started.

I did a blue screen log check and got issues with the driver atikmdag. I don't recall installing anything in the past week that would cause problems just out of the blue. This actually happened to me a few weeks ago but I did not get a BSOD. I was getting those graphical issues and thought it was WoW. I ignore it and when I logged back in, there were no errors. This was about 3 weeks ago.

Hiyya Deismo your restore points did you try the before box as in my pic? If you still want to restore try that.

Sorry mate this too http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...d-eb0909d75d47

If you go a memtest you will need to make a bootable disk from - http://www.memtest.org/ it takes a while to run and you need to set the BIOS to boot from the optical drive first.

Hey guys,

So after I formatted my computer to get rid off old BSOD's and to start with fresh RAM.
I still am getting BSOD. I tried to run the SF tool but it does not work for some reason because it can't find somethings or something like that.

Thanks in advance,

Hello.
Yesterday I got my second BSOD while playing (first one was on 29.05) on a controller. It's a DualShock 3 Sixaxis, I'm using the MotionJoy driver and BetterDS3.exe. I have been using this controller for over a year and had no problems (October 2013-March 2015). I bought a new hard drive in March, so I had to reinstall Windows. Until 29.05, I had been playing without any problems. The first BSOD was during W40K: Space Marine, the second one yesterday was during The Legend of Korra. Both BSOD's had the 0x0000010D and "Driver-irql-not-less-or-equal" errors. On my previous system I never encourtered this problem. I attatched the .zip file as requested.Attachment 363022

No dmps included in upload try this method.

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP
We could also use some system information, which you can get easily by running msinfo32.
To do that go to start>run>type msinfo32>enter

When it is finished running go to file>save>name it and upload to us here.
You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

-Retail version Windows 7 home premium 64bit
-Hardware is about 8 months old

Hi guys I never thought I'd have to resort to this forum. I have a very minimal tech understanding. Recently (1 month ago when running Vista 64bit) my computer had started to blue screen when playing games like Battlefield 3 and Dota 2. I updated all drivers and ran Windows Memory Diagnostics advanced tests on my ram which had several passes without errors. It's killing me because I've never had any problems with my computers reliability, it would run on hours playing games like WoW, BF2, BF3.

Frustrated I installed a new hard drive and did a fresh install of Windows 7. Still the same problem. One thing to note is, when first booting up and playing a BF3, I can play for hours without any BSOD. However, I noticed if I play after waking my computer from sleep mode as opposed to a fresh boot up, it will crash within 1-10 minutes.

Thank you very much for your help.

Only one minidump in your report and it's memory management. That is either bad RAM or a bad driver

Hi Bobby and welcome
These crashes were caused by memory corruption (probably a driver). Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.

Could someone please help me figure out why my Alienware xM14 BSOD only while playing EVE . . . at work. Serves me right.

I have already replaced my RAM and run diagnostic test- through the alienware website and through boot menu. It seems that ntoskrnl.exe + 7ef90 is involved but I cannot google a simple fix that isn't a reinstall.

Hello Sawrry Charlie.

Apply the latest version of nVidia display driver.
You may download it directly, from our forum link Latest NVIDIA ForceWare Video Drivers Windows 7; or you may opt for the Option 2 of Drivers- Download NVIDIA Drivers for ?Automatically find drivers for my NVIDIA products? (it requires java installed).

Update Atheros NIC driver. it is old, of 2010. Get it from ATHEROS drivers for Microsoft Windows (Atheros?????).

Uninstall ZoneAlarm. Uninstall AVG, too. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Update Citrix Deterministic Network Enhancer Miniport or Cisco Systems VPN Client driver from Cisco Systems, Inc.

Free up the startup.
Click on the Start button
Type ?msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the ?Startup? tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
Apply > OK
Accept the restart.
Let us know the results.

Hi all,

After about a week of self diagnosis and doing everything possible, I come to you as my last resort. For the past week and a half, my PC has blue screened while playing pretty much every game I have. It used to do it very infrequently, and started while playing Assassin's Creed III. Since then, it's happened once during BioShock Infinite, and it happens pretty much all the time in Far Cry 3.

So, what have I done? I've cleaned the registry with CCleaner, use a driver cleaner to wipe my nVidia driver installation and reinstall, cleaned out my PC of all dust, made sure the video card was installed properly, etc, etc. I've pretty much done everything possible, and I still can't really come to a solid conclusion.

So, here I am, humbled and broken asking for help from those far more knowledgeable than I. My dump file from your wonderful Windows 7 diagnostic tool is below. If you could look through that and find something, anything, that could be causing this, I will be forever in your debt.

Thanks! (Oh, and you can find all my specs in my profile).

After reading additional threads on this forum, I have tried a new approach that seems to somewhat work. I have pushed Far Cry 3 down to medium settings and it seems to work fine now. I was going off of the recommended settings from nVidia Experience before, and I got a solid 30 FPS from it. It didn't seem like it was putting much stress on the card, and it wouldn't really explain why it blue screened ... Read more

Your UEFI/BIOS dates from 2010. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the UEFI/BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard. If possible, use the "inside Windows" flash mechanism (if your OEM provides one) - that is much more forgiving than the traditional (floppy drive) flash method.

There are enough signs here that I have to wonder about this installation. Should this be a pirated copy of Windows, please be aware that we may not be able to fix it (as the hacks that were done to activate it will cause the OS to behave differently than we expect it to). If that's the case, our efforts to help may just waste your time. Secondly, the forum rules prohibit assisting with pirated software - so the topic would be closed if that is the case.

Please provide this report:

Getting BSOD durring various games, most recent was WoW. Ran memtest 86 v4.0a, 2 passes, zero errors. It happens way more often if I alt+tab out to use IE. If I don't use the browser at all, it almost never happens.

BSOD report per instructions and the latest .dmp file attached.

System specs are in my forum profile, hope that is ok to post.

Is Windows 7 . . .
- x86 (32-bit) or x64? x64
- the original installed OS on the system? yes, on a new SSD that I installed
- an OEM or full retail version? full retail
- OEM = came pre-installed on system
- Full Retail = you purchased it from retailer
- What is the age of system (hardware)? 4 years I think, I can't remember really
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) I had windows 7 for a while on it before I got any BSOD's

A:BSOD, playing WoW, didn't get error down

These were related to your video driver. I would re-install newest using this method.

When upgrading your graphic driver you MUST remove all traces of the current driver.

In order to do that we recommend using
Phyxion.net - Driver Sweeper

When it is removed then download and install the fresh copy.

Hello Everyone,

I have frequent 0x00000124 errors. I know these are not easy to overcome and I would greatly appreciate the help of a tech guru to help me understand my crash dump and where I should put my effort.

So far I have tried these steps:

Fresh copy of win7 on my sata drive instead of SSD
I did a memtest stress test and no error came up.

I don't see this error when I use my computer to browse the web or watch movies. It is most of the time when I am playing games. I have a huge heat sink with a dual 120mm fans over my cpu and a lot of 120mm for the rest of the case... I don't really suspect overheating. I did not try to overclock any of my components, everything is on factory settings.

Thanks for your much needed help.

- Fresh install of game from online

While loading the game, I have it start to load, then graphics go all wonky on me (video showing this at SWToR Crash - YouTube, approx. 30 seconds into it), causing system crash, or else I get BSOD with error 124.

Also, I get random Error 124 crashes, from doing completely random things - browsing the web (googling information, youtube, facecrack), doing windows Updates, re-installing software (like Thunderbird, Chrome, Trillian, etc). It happens completely randomly, and is kind of driving me nuts.

Any assistance would be great, since I can't afford any money to drop on a new system any time soon.

EDIT MAY 14:
Sorry, I didn't upload the attached files, and I've got them now. System Health Report is in the folder with the dump files and everything else. Sorry about that. They are now attached.

A:BSOD playing SW:ToR, error 0x00000124

So, to further add to some of what diagnostics / tests / checks I have done on this system:

- Hiren's Boot CD using Seagate Tools on it, to do a full level test of both of the 1TB HD's (both of the 500s are disconnected)
- Reseated the RAM
- Reseated the SATA cables to the DVD-ROM Drive, and the HDD's.
- Tried changing the cables of the HDD's
- Reseated them in different ports (instead of 0 (DVD) 1 (HDD) and 2 (HDD), tried 3 (HDD), 4 (HDD), and 5 (DVD)
- Reseated the power connections on the motherboard for power
- Changed the power plugs to the various devices (HDD and DVD)
- Fresh firmware reinstall of the Motherboard (A74, dating Aug 8, 2011)
- Factory reset of motherboard settings back to stock

- testing now with Prime95 to do a memory test
- Have done a memtest using an ubuntu boot disk
- Done an full system MRI by a buddy who works for Geek Squad

This is the fourth reinstall of Windows (on a fourth drive configuration) in the last two weeks. Hopefully I don't have to do it many more times - Microsoft is getting cranky at me for all the activations I keep calling in for.

Hi,
I have a big problem with my laptop.
when I am playing games I have some fps drops which are periodic. Then everything goes back to normal.
Sometimes I get BSODs or Application crashes while playing games.
Sometimes just every thing gives a "close this program" error including My AV(Kaspersky pure 9),but that happens much less.
Application crashes will fix after a single system restart.but the periodic lags(fps drops)
wont.
So far I tried updating every driver,Re-Installing OS,testing hardware by those useless appsand taking out one of memory sticks.

this is one of BSOD's details while playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3:

Hi -

Hardware failure (possibly RAM) appears to be the likely cause of the lone BSOD, but software (old drivers) can't be ruled out.

Run memtest86+. If memtest86+ results are OK, go on to the software items.

You have an old version of KIS installed that needs to be removed. Use the removal tool - http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN146

Reboot upon completion. Install MSE.

- KIS firewall likely prevented Windows 7 SP1 from installing.
- Check Windows Updates for SP1 - www.update.microsoft.com
- If no SP1 - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976932

Is this your system? --> XPS M1530

I only see Vista listed as a supported OS, not Windows 7. This doesn't mean Windows 7 won't run, but finding updates for drivers like IDT audio codec are difficult, since they are OEM (Dell) specific -

Code:
stwrt64.sys Fri Feb 15 17:37:25 2008 (47B61425)
http://www.sysnative.com/drivers/driver.php?id=stwrt64.sys

I would suggest that you remove all virtual devices until the BSODs are over.

Start with memtest86+

Hi and welcome to Seven Forums,

If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.
Please remove the following software:

Code:
Driver Genius Professional Edition
It is not recommended to use automated driver update software. The software often finds drivers for devices that are similar but not the same as the devices in your system. This can lead to conflict issues and BSOD's. If you cannot find the driver for a specific device, create a thread here: Drivers - Windows 7 Forums so we can help you. In fact, it is not always necessary to update drivers and sometimes updating them can decrease system stability. It it ain't broke, don't fix it!
I have noticed that you do not have an anti-virus product installed on your PC. Please install Microsoft Security Essentials and scan your PC. Then install and scan your computer with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. DO NOT START THE FREE TRIAL. This will remove any viruses you may have caught.
Taking a look at your dumps, a lot of the show the the cause as being genuine Intel. This suggests to me that there is a hardware issue.

As a result I recommend you check your hardware for issues. Please run Memtest86+ to check your RAM. Let it run for 6-8 passes overnight as described in the tutorial. Pay particular attention to parts 2 and 3.

Also check your HDD for errors using Seatools. Download and create a bootable version of the Seatools for DOS program as described here

If you have any questions, feel free to ask,
Stephen

Greetings,

I've been plagued with BSOD's generally while playing video games (STOP 0x0000001E). I can reproduce this error 100% of the time when playing Civilization 5. I've also been experiencing random computer restarts when doing tasks such as playing video games, watching videos or word processing.

When I started getting this error, I thought it may have been my PSU not supplying enough power to the graphics card, so I upgraded from a 400W to a 650W (running a Radeon HD 4870). I also upgraded my motherboard to an ASUS M5A97 (same CPU but upgraded RAM). Unfortunately, this did not fix my errors.

Recently, after updating some files (I don't recall which exactly), I've started receiving the following error upon system startup: "kdbsync.exe has stopped working". I have not resolved this issue.

I appreciate any help that can be provided.

rddesautels, all the dumps you uploaded are quite old, and debugging on those may not be very effective.
Is there any latest dumps?

Run Disc Cleanup (Start> All Programs> Accessories> System Tools). Then follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

A:BSOD error when playing games.

Hi. . .

I took a look at the three dump files that you attached and found the following:

STOP error - 0x0000010e, (0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) with dxgkrnl.sys , a DirectX driver, as the probable cause.

Now, a 0x10e indicates that the video memory manager has encountered a condition that it is unable to recover from. The only parameter of interest is the first 0x2 - An attempt was made to destroy a non-empty process heap. The process running at the time of the BSOD was 3DMark06.exe, by Futuremark Corporation and as you most likely know is for 3d game performance benchmarking purposes. If you have not done so, one solution that I found is to run this program at an Elevated level - right-click and select Run as Administrator.

Hi,

BF3 is now unplayable for me due to crashes, freezes & BSODs (typically 0x0000004e) in every single game. So far I've tried:

1. Updating to the latest video drivers

2. Uninstalling BF3, deleting all game files & re-installing

3. Uninstalling video drivers using Driver Sweeper & re-installing

4. Virus scanning (using Super Anti-spyware) & clearing out all Registry errors (using CCleaner)

5. Firmware update on OCZ SSD

On the occasion that I get a message within BF3, this comes up (or something like it): "Kicked by Punkbuster due to a corrupt memory file" (I've also uploaded a number of other error messages - I hope that's not too much information). I thought this might point to faulty RAM but I've run Memtest86+, with 10 passes & no errors. I also ran Prime95 and five of the workers stopped after a number of hours with the message "Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file." I don't know which hardware component failed, since the file doesn't tell you but just provides general guidance. Am I supposed to take a wild guess as to whether I have a faulty CPU?

All help & advice appreciated.

A:BSOD playing BF3 - error 0x0000004e

It seems you have a bad CPU, Prime95 is primarily used for testing the CPU for any errors, and it seems to have given out a few already. The stress.txt log file is located within the Prime95 installation folder.

To find the file, please do the following:Locate Prime95 program
Right-Click the icon/program
Properties
Open File Location
It may be listed as results.txt too.

Which test did you run? There's the Small FFT's, Large FFT's and the Blend test I believe.

Hey guys,

I recently made my first computer build and it was working fine for a few days, but now I'm beginning to see some lovely Blue Screens. I've got a long log of the blue screens and I've tried the typical checks for problems, but I just can't figure anything out. The computers new and I don't have much installed on it, but I've never experienced a crash outside of a game.

If anyone could help me out I'd really appreciate it, here are my system specs.:

Hey, I've been having some BSOD issues starting the first of this month, oddly once I bought BF4. I've BSOD'd 3 times since then, with the last two happening today. The first time was After I quit out of a match and went to go into another, The second time was mid match while typing and the third was Post match while moving a window on my Desktop.

I'm not sure if this has any relevance, but I figure the more info the better. I Updated my graphics drivers since I was running out of date ones,(301.25) to the latest WHQL ones, and thought the problem to be solved however tonight has proven me other wise.

Any Help would be really appreciated, since I have no clue on what to do to solve this.

(EDIT) I've taken a look at the logs with Bluescreen Viewer, but couldn't really discern anything other then the driver? Causing it.

Hello,

As the title suggests, I am getting a BlueScreen at random times while playing games -- mainly WoW and MW2, mostly WoW. It doesn't seem to be directly connected to moments where a high amount of video rendering is being done, as in, I've gotten blue screens just sitting in an open area with very little happening.

I've tried adjusting video settings but even when I'm running in what I call "stick-figure" mode I've still had the same issue.

I originally had Windows Vista 64bit (don't recall the service pack, but I kept it up-to-date), but I recently upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium in hopes it would fix it or be easier to fix.

Here is the information needed with 1 dmp file. I was playing the game Natural Selection 2 when this happend.

The system is a fresh install with Windows 7 64bit Professional. Temperatures are pretty good everything is around 60degree while gaming and nothing is overclocked. Memtest did not found any problem with my memory sticks ran them over 20 passes / each stick. Tested OCCT for 5 hours straight and no crashes. Ive tried with a different graphic card which I know works but I still get bluescreens while playing games. Help please!

Ive done all steps at STOP 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR troubleshooting still no luck. Ive tried different nvidia drivers but all of them gives me the same error.

I was going to test driver verififer but all drivers there was from microsoft so it cant be driver related.

Okay this is a persisting problem I have been getting Blue screens for a while now and they seem off and on sometimes predictable and others completely random. I have tried almost everything and reformatted numerous times already, I have replaced my Mobo and gpu, memtest ran without flaws and tried with one or the other stick(s) of ram. Updated Bios, and reverted it to its original settings. This is my final attempt at fixing this before my complete and utter meltdown.

System Specs:
GPU: Nividia Gefore Gtx 570
CPU: Intel i5-2500k 3.3ghz
Motherboard: Asus P8Z68-V LX
RAM: Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600 8g 2x
PSU: Coonix 800w Pretty sure this is the source of the problem.

Crash dump's below

Hello Gernby and welcome mate I think maybe you have answered your own query - PSU as you have replaced just about everything else.

Now do you know how to test up a PSU in situ? If you do DO NOT under any circumstances try to test the device with it apart - EVER!!

But assuming you have never done this before look at this PSU - Jump Start after you have started the PSU just test the voltage in the differing leads especially the GPU six pack or whatever leads you have for that GPU.

Now just because the volts are up to scratch does not mean the rails can supply the current this is just a rough guide.

Just as matter of interest how old is the PSU? Plus to be honest I have never heard of this brand before and if in doubt I would fir a new PSU and I always use Corsair now depending on your usage a TX 750 V2 would be a decent device.

But please do take extreme care when doing anything with a PSU.

These crashes were related to your AppleCharger.sys. It can be removed as USB will charge the devices without it.

A:BSOD playing Tibia, error .

These crashes were caused by memory corruption/exception (Cx05) probably a driver.
Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

* If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!

* If you have raid update its Driver.

Memtest.

*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5-7 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Any errors are indicative of a memory problem.

If a known good stick fails in a motherboard slot it is probably the slot.

Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

So, I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so y... Read more

Hey guys.

I've all of a sudden started getting these BSODs playing GTA V (was playing online) in the last hour or so. I'm not sure what's wrong but it's directly pointing toward my CPU..but no idea why. The CPU temp is perfectly fine and isn't necessarily overheating. It's rating at about 50'C with the stock cooler. (I'm thinking of getting another liquid cooler though).

My dumps and what not are in the RAR archive attached with the required information.

A:BSOD playing GTA V, error 0x124_AuthenticAMD

Hey Kyle.

0x124 is a hardware failure, and it may point to the CPU but it might also be a RAM issue, outdated chipset drivers or BIOS.

I'm unfortunately off to bed but I'll look into your issue tomorrow morning if someone else haven't already helped!

Cheers, Boris

Hello everyone,

I have recently encountered my first BSOD while playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 online multiplayer. I have been using this computer for more than 2 years and have not encountered any BSOD before. The only "significant" change I made was updating my video card and AMD Catalyst driver to 15.7 (can't remember the previous driver version).

All my PC specs are available in my profile.

As per your forum posting instructions, kindly find the attached file created by DM Log Collector.

Thank you.

Hello
I started getting BSOD errors after playing games (Dota 2) a month ago. Its a different error every time and I cant seem to find a fix. Here are some I wrote down/remember: System bad service, Kernel security check fail, Bad pool caller, page fault in non paged area. Most of the times, before crashing, all the graphics on the monitor glitches (black stripes and boxes, and other glitches) and the sound goes crazy static noise. I play game called Dota 2 a lot, I play one match, and after that one match is finished I try to play another one, but after the loading screen into next match there is glitchy graphic everywhere. Textures are glitching, main menu is glitching and its unplayable. So I quit the game and when I start the game again OR when I go do some other stuff (internet)/play other games the computer "restarts" (BSOD) with one of the errors I wrote above.
I have Notebook HP ProBook 4740s which is a gaming notebook, so I dont think theres a problem with that.
If you have any other questions, I will more than gladly answer them if it can solve my problem!
Please help
Thank you, Jonas

A:Getting BSOD with different error everytime(after playing)

BSOD's were caused by different processes indicating that you might have bad RAM memory since every time you run a program, it will first load into RAM and run from it.

Please download memtest from: Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool .Burn it to a USB/CD and reboot to run the test. The test must be run for at least 5 passes unless errors occur before. For testing purpose. Uninstall Norton completely, you should download a special uninstaller from their website for clean uninstall.

98 Percent chance that after 2 games the PC will crash. If I get lucky the 2 percent will prevail and it will crash in the 4th game. After the crash the PC will not boot and will just flash No Signal in the monitor after 5 - 24( if I also get lucky it will boot 5 hours after the Crash)
