Q: BSOD Error, Critical termination error, f4 while watching stream

I was watching an episode on naruto then my computer had the honor to give me a bsod because it hates my sorry azz. Please someone help me, this computer has been having problems ever since I built it 4+ months ago and never resolved the issue. Sometimes it freezes, restarts but it has gotten rare as time passed because now I rarely run any programs because I hate the feeling of getting a bluescreen man. I have included the zip file with all required files.

I hope someone can help me with this issue. I have an Asus G74S which I have sent back twice due to BSOD issues. The first time Asus replaced a memory stick and the system board. The second time they replaced the CPU. I'm still getting BSOD errors. oh, and fun fact: This laptop is a replacement of a G73 that I had to send back 6 times due to a non-functional touchpad - I finally convinced them after about 18 months to give me another computer and here I am...

I'm really hoping that someone can help me figure this out as I have zero faith in Asus. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Anyways... I've attached the SF Diagnostic Tool zip to this post.

Hi, new to this forum, been getting BSOD's for quite some time and figured this would be a good place to get some help.

Last BSOD I had was error 0X0000010E, I've attached 2 DM Log Collector files for the last 2 BSOD's I've had, the BSOD's tend to vary each time I don't get the same one constantly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Possibly related, windows will try to install 110 updates upon shutdown, when starting up the comp it will try to configure the updates, after several minutes, it will fail and revert the changes every time.

Hello,

I updated my hardware(New CPU, GPU, and Motherboard) recently this past Wednesday and after everything is installed and running it seems to run fine. I attempted some Overclocking of my CPU and got my first BSOD(Unfortunately Windows did not save the dump file of this event) so I stopped and changed it back to normal thinking that caused it. The first BSOD happened while I was watching a stream on Twitch tv and it happened again a second time later while I was watching a Twitch stream. I have included my zip file with current information. Could it have something to with my GPU drivers since it happened during the same type of situation? I have the most recent driver installed 320.18 installed.

First BSOD was 0x0000003b error
Seond BSOD was 0x0000007e error

CPU: AMD FX 8350

It does seem that the graphics card driver is a possible cause at the moment, have you tried rolling back to the older WHQL driver? I do feel that the driver being blamed, could be due to the alterations made to the registry by the registry cleaner you have installed.

Hello there,

I'm abroad and have only my company laptop wich I have administrator privileges. It has Windows 7 installed and the HDD is encrypted with some software and I'm not sure if I have BIOS access to change boot options.

So when I was watching a streming match of football the pc crashed and I forced the shutdown. When I restarted it a BSOD shown up with the message Unmountable Boot Volume. As I'm used to deal with some of this problems but it is my first time on Windows 7 the first thing I tried was normal start up. When windows starts to load, there's no logo on the "starting windows" window and then when the bar starts to load it stops in the next sec and BSOD is shown. Next step was to start on safe mode but the same problem was shown, first the windows "STARTING WINDOWS" with no logo, then a grey window saying "LOADING WINDOWS FILES" then the window where the bar starts to fill but it only takes a sec and the same BSOD appears. Next try was the repair option but the same problem as in safe mode. So as it was now, windows is not starting in any mode.

Next step was to try to boot ubuntu from a usb pen I always carry on my trips, but since the HDD is encrypted the first thing to boot is the disk and the password for hdd access, so I cannot boot from the usb with the HDD connected. I then used the laptop with my usb to continue watching the game on the stream channel, but then I really need to have my PC fixed with Windows 7, si... Read more

Looks like the cause is your Symantec Anti Virus
To prevent the problem, make a system restore point so you can go back in the event of problems
Then uninstall all of Symantec
Then install Microsoft Security Essentials
It is free
Do this at least as a test. Then you can use whatever AV that you like.

Hi, I hope you can help-this is driving me crazy. Before I did a system restore to a known good working restore point [at least one that stayed up and running for over a week 24/7] I was getting a lot of 'not responding' issues and bsods with apparently different causes as per nirsoft's bsod viewer. Since the restore it's crashed and rebooted five times, not including the last one which I induced by going a bit overboard in task manager. Since the restore I have not fiddled with any more updates or bios settings-all are conservative. I've read the posting requirements and attached the zipped file. Searching for a fix has been elusive so I have one question before we start: has anyone ever solved these issues? I suspect the seagate 250gb drive is the cause, but it reliably passes the seatools tests. Thanks for your time

I have had 2 BSOD's tonight, 1st two ever. I was watching streaming video (football game) online. After about 5-10-15 minutes of being on I got a black screen saying windows was shutting down. After restart same thing happened. After about 5-15 minutes (not sure exact time length) of playing I got the same BSOD.

I will say this though. I had 2 different browsers opened during the BSOD's. I had the game streaming on 1 browser (k-meleon) while I was doing other things on Firefox at the same time. After the two BSOD's I just played the stream itself in the one browser and didn't open the other. It's been around 1.5 hours now and working just fine so it was probably some conflict between 2 processes I guess. But I'd really like to know what the conflict was so I can keep this from happening while I'm doing something really important.
thanks in advance.

A:BSOD while gaming and watching stream

Omono mate try this

Using HW Info

You can test the volts on the PSU with HWInfo HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 -Download < download the right bit version andclose the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power sectionwhere you will see what the volts are doing see my pic.

The original right hand window shows themachine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use themain left hand side panel

FOR OTHER COMPONENTS

Open each + down into the componentitself and then click on it - in theright hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds andother essential info that device. See pic for example.

It will show up the volts in the redout and if they are off by +/- 5% then the PSU is probably dying . If you dont get any readouts that make sense try this.

These BSOD only happens when I watch twitchtv live stream. mostly when its on fullscreen. It does not happen right away, sometime it take about 10 minutes to 50 minutes and sometime my video display would go black for a second (about 5 minutes before bsod happen) . Had 2 crashes today with the same code "0x0000001e". Ive tried reseating video card, ram, and all the wires. In addition to title info, my computer only crashes while watching the stream and gaming at the same time. If I do either independently I don't crash ever it seems like. Same for gaming and streaming my game from Xsplit or FFSplit. Since I can do either independently it isn't really a pressing issue, but one I would really like to get sorted out as this indicates something is wrong with my computer. This is my first post so please let me know if I compiled the dump file incorrectly. Thank you in advance!

Your crash dumps are not showing any finite probable cause. In such a situation, it is better to enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

   Information
Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

   Warning
Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of enabling DV again.
If you cannot boot in Safe mode too, do a System Restore to a point you made earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any. Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Hey everyone. Im new here and just built a new machine. REALLY hoping these BSODs werent caused by faulty hardware as Im past the return period on everything at the store (bought the parts over a month ago and just now built)

Can you give me an idea what caused these? Specifically the one on 1/14. the one on 1/10 was right after overclocking and running prime 95. The one on 1/14 happened while surfing on chrome.

Long time reader - first time poster. Built my first custom computer a while back and have been fighting issues for a while.

Here are my symptoms; these don't occur with any specific frequency and don't seem to be caused by any specific action:

-BSOD
-SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
-KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
-BAD_POOL_HEADER
-SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
-IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
-Crash w/o BSOD....just a frozen screen

These are the actions I've taken:
-Manually (and with third party software) verified all drivers are current
-Windows Memory Test
-Third party RAM test
-Clean install/re-installs of windows 7 and upgrade to windows 10

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

A:Why did I get this BSOD error while gaming and listening to a stream?

Welcome to SF .
You best bet is to remove those last added sticks and see if the issues persists.
If you are reluctant physically remove them you can at least test your RAM.

Testing the RAM:

Pay close attention to part 3 of the tutorial "If you have errors"
Test the RAM with Memtest86+ for at least 7-10 passes. It may take up to 22 passes to find problems. Make sure to run it once after the system has been on for a few hours and is warm, and then also run it again when the system has been off for a few hours and is cold.

When done with the testing procedure take a picture and upload it here.

My Son and I have identical laptops with identical software and we are both to varying degrees suffering from the same frequent error messages. Each time it happens a programme called Techguys tries to resolve using Windows Repair recovery console. Each time we have different error messages.
Today my son, who has more cx000021a BSOD errors than I, now has a message relating to direct x 8 even though he has direct x 9c installed.

I have taken my sons system back to factory setting without success.

Each error also disables our Internet Security Software which is Norton Internet Security 2010 and we have to re-install the security updates from scratch. These errors have happened with both new and previous versions of NIS2010. I use the same security software on my tower which uses XP Home without any issues.

The errors primarily affect the systems when in gameplay modes. My son frequently plays GuildWars and I enjoy Command and Conquer.

I have tried to see why this is happening and have always made sure that we avoid suspicous websites. I am at a loss.

Any help would be welcome.

Hi,
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I get this BSOD seemingly randomly.
At first I thought it was my overclock but I still get it when set to defaults.

Today I was watching youtube and it did it, then I restarted and watched youtube again and again it did it.

It doesnt seem to be only youtube though, I get it at random times. Not very often either. I cant replicate it. Just when I think, wow havent BSOD for a while, it does it.

I can play BF3 for hours and not have a problem, next day, browsing net and BSOD.

I have attached the 'grab everything' zip. Please let me know if you need any more detail.

Appreciated,
Danny

The first parameter or argument has the value of 0x0, which is a Machine Check Exception, which means the CPU has detected a hardware problem and the address points to a processor error because the CPU has found one, so it could be a different form of hardware which is causing the issue.

In such a situation, it is best to use these steps:Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95
Enable "Round off checking" before the test (see first post below tutorial).
Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try
All the hardware seeming to be running stable and tests reporting no errors, could mean a bad motherboard.

This started happening maybe a week ago? I uninstalled a lot of programs that I installed like AVG, Firefox, Abode Flash, and the list goes on but nothing seems to fix it... I have no clue what it is! The only thing I've noticed is that when I'm play a game called Heroes of Newerth and looking at videos/on Firefox it, most of the time, doesn't BSOD or do anything. Sometimes it does though.

I'm sick of this issue. I'm really close to reformatting (I'm not even sure that would fix the problem) and just starting fresh, but I decided to see if anyone could help out.

Thanks for reading and thanks in advance!

Have an awesome day! =D

Hello UniqueDeath.

Update your ATI/AMD display driver.
You can get it from the link in our forum, Latest AMD Catalyst Video Driver for Windows 7, or you may go to AMD Graphics Driver and Software and opt for Automatically Detect and Install the appropriate driver for your card.

During installation, you may opt for advanced installation, and install the display driver only, not the Catalyst Control Center.

Then follow the other steps of STOP 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR troubleshooting

Hello all. First time posting on these forums, as I haven't really had a need to inquire about computer problems till more recently.

I was watching Netflix last night, when I suddenly lost access to all windows functionality. The show continued to play for about a minute, before the computer went to the BSoD. I have not used Netflix at all since the incident, but I've also not seen the error again. Hopefully this may narrow things down a bit.

I had another incident where my computer froze up while watching Netflix. I was able to ctrl+alt+dlt, but attempting to open task manager did nothing. Had to hard-resent, but no BSoD.

I've attached the zipped crash information. I was unable to save a performance monitoring file as an html doc for some reason, so I hope this is suitable. Any insight would be great. Thanks all!

There is no bsod, no warning of any form it just switches off instantly.

I can restart the computer and it'll work; there's the option to boot into safe mode etc but it runs fine, until the next crash.

As part of my own attempts to resolve this issue, I have cleaned out the dust, but new thermal paste on. Originally I had high temperatures but now I monitor them regularly and never see any noticeable spike prior to a crash. Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi,
As of late, 3-4 weeks, I've been experiencing these BSOD, freezes and odd behaviour on boot.

The BSOD's occur at the most irregular times and are nowhere near expectable.
Sometimes I'm gaming for 4 hours and nothing happens, and then I quit my game, go browse a bit, and bam, BSOD.
Sometimes I open my game and get a BSOD.
Sometimes I get a BSOD as soon as I sign into Messenger, etc..
It's not a heat issue I don't think, I have a LC cooled CPU and 5 case fans. My GPU goes up to about 50-60?C when stressed, which should be fine imo.
(Minidump & DxDiag are added as attachment, but you probably figured that much)

As far as the odd behavious on boot goes..
More often than not I have to boot my computer about 10 times before it actually boots.
Sometimes I come home from work and press the power button and you hear the HDD going, the DVD making his wake up sound, the fans are working, everything is working except it's not doing anything, not even showing me anything, my screen just shows: "No device input". Like my computer isn't even attached to it. Yes, I tried to replug it, but how much can it move when the 2 bolts are tightened..
Occasionally my keyboard or mouse don't get power or aren't recognized idk, they don't light up.
I can't help it but facepalm when the "No keyboard is found, press F1 to continue" message appears.

As I followed the event logs I noticed that I always get some error's right before the critical error occurs, sometimes... Read more

A:Kernell-Power critical error, into BSOD.

Hello and welcome to TSF!

I've taken a look at your dumps, 5 attached - 18, x2 4E, D1, A.

18: REFERENCE_BY_POINTER - usual causes: Device driver, kernel, hardware.

4E: PFN_LIST_CORRUPT - usual causes: Device driver, bios or a hardware problem (specifically and usually RAM).

D1: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL - usual causes: Device driver.

A: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL - usual causes: Device driver.

Overall, it's likely we have a driver issue going on here, but since the fault isn't being pinned, we're going to need to enable Driver Verifier to try and catch it (if it IS software, of course).

Install Service Pack 1 before enabling Driver Verifier - Learn how to install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1)

Driver Verifier:

What is Driver Verifier?

Driver Verifier is included in Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 to promote stability and reliability; you can use this tool to troubleshoot driver issues. Windows kernel-mode components can cause system corruption or system failures as a result of an improperly written driver, such as an earlier version of a Windows Driver Model (WDM) driver.

Essentially, if there's a 3rd party driver believed to be at issue, enabling Driver Verifier will help flush out the rogue driver by flagging it and causing your system to BSOD.

This is a custom build pc(NOT overclocked) that occasionally BSOD every couple days with the same error. It NEVER BSOD when I'm playing games, it is always when I've left the PC alone for a long period of time or am watching a movie on Hulu(and haven't touched the keyboard for a while). I monitored the temps of the PC when running benchmarks and gaming, its not overheating. I've also un-installed some of the gigabyte motherboard software as I read it can cause this same error but that didn't help. I updated the BIOS to the latest version and the SSD already had the latest firmware. I've also tried disabling the computer sleep, didn't help. Thank you for taking the time to look at this.

Having this issue when I was playing High-Definition videos from my remote server, mostly AVC1 coded MKV files.
I chose the DXVA acceleration in my video player so I assume it's a video card issue.
I firstly installed the video card driver from my laptop vendor's website which is Dell, the version of the driver is 9.01.
Here's the link to the driver.
Download File | Dell US

But I found this driver always fail when using, saying "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" with a screen flash for about three seconds.
Until now there's no BSOD, but maybe because I didn't turn on the DXVA.
So I swept the old driver using "amd_cleanup_util_1.2.1.0" and installed the new driver from the AMD site.
Link AMD FirePro
Now comes the BSODs which I stated above.
Please help me out with this.
Many thanks

nobody here to help me?
Is it maybe the memory caused the problem?
I have 4 DIMMs but I took out two DIMMs last week because last week the error code is 0x000001E, and it worked out find for a week without BSOD.
And I plugged the memory back three days ago and the BSODs happened again but with new error codes.

I just fixed my last BSOD (faulty RAM) that kept appearing and now I'm getting a new one. I was just beginning to watch a video using firefox, screen froze and then i got this BSOD. I checked memory dump with BlueScreenView and results were :

BC code : 0x00000116
Caused By Driver : dxgkrnl.sys
Caused By Address : dxgkrnl.sys+5d000
(I will attach .dmp)

I have new rig with
Asus gtx 560 ti 448
Intel core i5 2500k
Asrock z68 pro3 gen3
and Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

my GPU and CPU temperatures were around 35 degrees during BSOD.

My video card driver version is 295.73 - WHQL and it has worked properly before.

A:dxgkrnl.sys BSOD when watching video. Error 0x00000116

Well you have checked the normal things and they look good.
The 295.73 - WHQL could be corrupt. Remove and install it again.
I would run another memory test on the new ram. Your video card ram and system ram do communicate with each other when needed.

Hello Enki and welcome to Sevenforums.

BSOD Analyse

Looking at your bugcheck it's likely that a memory corruption event were there. Do a scan with Memtest86+. Memtest is a scanner that'll check your sticks for errors. To ensure that we'll know if it's the slots on the motherboard that's broken, or the sticks itself - we have a little procedure we'll recommend. Remove 1 stick, scan the other with Memtest in the current slot. After 7 passes, move the stick to another slot and scan, and so on and so forth until you've scanned all the sticks, and all the slots, one by one.

Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

Drivers and fixes

Look for hotfixes and important updates in Windows Update. I see you're already having SP1 installed, as well as 72 hot fixes, but there might be some more. I recommend configuring Update to install your updates automatically, if you haven't already.

Your drivers seems OK.

Recently I have been getting BSOD errors. These errors have been occurring randomly and are when I am watching youtube videos and other times such as when I have restarted my computer. The stop codes I have been getting on my BSOD screen have been changing at first it was 0x0000001A but it has recently changed to BE. I'm not a computer wiz so I am not up to grasp with computer lingo so you might have to dumb stuff down for me.

Hello Calum and welcome to Sevenforums.

Don't worry, we're all fully respectful and understands that some people may not have the proper skills at computers in order to fix such issues. I'll take care.

First off, thank you for providing the crash dump files, though we need a little more than that. If you haven't already, you can install our utility that'll gather all the thing you'd need to provide, in order for us to analyse your BSOD.
The additional files includes, nfo, systeminfo etc. To get these files, use our thread below.

Hi, for months i would get a BSOD about once a week. A few weeks ago it started happening a couple minutes into every youtube video i try and watch. I can play games fine without getting BSOD and from my experience twitch also runs fine apart from being a bit jumpy for the first few seconds of viewing. I'm not sure if it's related but when I'm installing anything my computer occasionally freezes for about 1.5 seconds although that's not as big of a problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi kmeck22.

A stop 0x3B is difficult to debug based on a single crash dump. As it is blaming the hardware, take some hardware tests .....

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

Stress test the CPU.
Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95

Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy. Alternatively, you can publish a Speccy snapshot too: Speccy - Publish Snapshot of your System Specs .

Also it gives some hint of network failure. It may either the Killer Gaming failing itself or Avast is causing some blockage. Will decide about it after seeing the results of the hardware tests.

Hi,

I randomly got a BSOD just now and when I run BlueScreenView, it said it was caused by the nvlddmkm.sys driver. I am currently not on the latest version of Nvidia driver, as it caused issues with The Division and I could not find info as to if that was resolved.

I have had BSOD's previously as well, maybe a couple of days ago, I was not doing anything on the PC at all, it was just on, with one monitor while playing games on my PS4 using my other monitor.

Another time it happened was over the weekend, playing Path of Exile and it crashed again. I have never had it crash doing the same thing, just randomly.

Attached is my zip file, hope it has everything needed.

Hello all, I've joined here today in hopes that I could get some help

For the past few months whenever I use youtube or another site that plays videos with flash I will sometimes get a BSOD, it seems that the error code will change everytime. Usually when the BSOD appears it doesn't even make a dump, or it will only dump part way, when I am lucky however I am able to get a dump file (which I have posted in the attachment below). I have run memtest+ and gotten no errors (altho I have added more RAM since then and did not run the test again), and I have also updated my graphics drives a few times (both stable and beta), I am currently running a modest OC (CPU and GPU), but removing it doesn't seem to help, and I assume you can see my spec on my profile

I'll bump if I get a different error code and dump

Welcome .

I would start off by thoroughly scanning the machine, you have some unknown entries
in the loaded modules list.

Please scan for possible infection and file corruption.
Download TDSS-Killer and scan for rootkits.
Download Kaspersky Rescue CD and scan for other types of infections. (a how-to tutorial)
Download Malwarebytes and DON'T activate th trail (uncheck the box at the end of the installation)
Follow this tutorial on how to use the SFC/ SCANNOW tool in Windows.
(*Kaspersky Rescue CD from a USB thumbdrive)

I blue-screen while watching Twitch.tv live-streams, or when I leave the computer unattended for a length of time. I (think) I have installed and updated all of my drivers.

I have ran stress tests on my CPU, RAM, and GPU with Prime95(4 hours passed on small-large-blend), Furmark(4 hours passed), and Memtest(passed for 48 hours). All having good temp readings.

I also get a LOT of errors and failed installs on my windows updates. And I have tried re-installing windows several times. I come here on a last leg.

I am Quite computer savvy(A+, Net+, and win 7 cert), but this has thrown me in a circle.

Any and all help will be welcome.

Hey all,
I've been having random BSOD on my custom built PC for a couple years. The event log displays Kernel 41 error. The computer may hang for several seconds and when I click a dialog box in chrome it may restart. Alternatively if I leave my PC and get a snack it will be trying to boot but stuck on loading ASUS express gate on start-up, or just have the blinking cursor, sometimes it may recover and just display the "windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown". Every time I check the event log it's usually reported as said Kernel 41 error which I acknowledge is a power failure. Since I disabled the sleep mode it doesn't happen as much, but then again still randomly. As you can tell, I have been tracking this bug for some time. Any help would be amazing. Thanks so much!!!

As a side note I recently re-installed my operating system from clean install, and barely made it through (it took several attempts to successfully install) and after booting (before and after all driver updates from manufacturer Asus, Nvidia, etc.) it was still crashing randomly. I have installed all of the updates from the manufacturer's website, and update regularly.

I just had another BSOD while I stepped away for a couple minutes, so I ran the BSOD utility again (second zip file). Thanks again.

A:BSOD event log displays critical kernel error 41

The Kernel 41 errors are difficult to pin down because they're issued after the fact. Here's an excerpt from an MS Support article that describes the event.

Quote:
The kernel power event ID 41 error occurs when the computer is shut down, or it restarts unexpectedly. When a computer that is running Windows starts, a check is performed to determine whether the computer was shut down cleanly. If the computer was not shut down cleanly, a Kernel Power Event 41 message is generated.

An event 41 is used to report that something unexpected happened that prevented Windows from shutting down correctly. There may be insufficient information to explicitly define what happened. To determine what may have happened and to identify a potential resolution, it is important to know what the computer was doing at the time just before the event occurred.

If event 41 is logged because power to the computer was interrupted, consider obtaining an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) such as a battery backup power supply. An underpowered or failing power supply may cause this behavior. For example, if you added RAM or additional devices or hard disks when this problem began, the power supply may cause the problem.

One item I did see that was occurring often was Windows Desktop Manager failing with code (0x40010004). This is normally associated with memory errors and/or an Aero configuration problem.

Check the voltage on your power supply. If you don't have access to... Read more

I just recently built a computer in December and from the start the PSU made some clicking noises, but I didnt see it as a problem since at first there were no problems with my computer. It would restart after the first 5-10 minutes of playing league of legends. 20-30 minutes are playing Team Fortress 2. And less than an hour of playing Starcraft 2.
I looked at my event log and it was a Critical Error: Kernel-Power. Event ID 41. Task Category 63.

A:No BSOD Critical Error: Kernel-Power Event ID 41 (63)

Hi! I am running an older (but capable!) rig and stumbled across your experience via Google! About an hour ago I started experiencing the same crash while playing TF2. I don't really play other games but my event log is the same as yours. Bump for any answers!

I have tried verifying and defragging the TF2 files w/o much luck. Next I plan to uninstall/reinstall TF2. Then I hope to try some of the fixes on blogs you've mentioned... BTW I am running Win 7.

I am not sure though if the event listed is caused by me having to hard reboot the system.

First of all, hello! I am new to the forums, and new to trying to fix a computer I built

I am not totally dumb, but I am having a really hard time with this PC pretty much since I built it. I have had a bunch of people I thought were good with computers (and probably really are) look at it and no one has really been able to get the problems to go away. One of the issues I had was a variety of BSOD errors, apparently my PC was running HOT for a while and now with a new water cooling system in place it is fine, but I am still getting BSOD errors. The most recent one was 0x00000050.

I ran the program the forums suggested and have attached the zipped files. If anyone out there is smarter than me and can help me through this I would be insanely grateful. I have no problems removing/re-installing hardware or running w/e programs etc. I am just at my wits end, and short of buying a whole new computer I no longer know what to do

Thank you in advance to anyone who is willing and able to help!

A:BSOD watching Twitch and updating Starcraft 2 error 0x00000050

Hmm, I'm seeing a lot of issues with Windows files and services either being corrupted or the memory they're working with is being corrupted.

How hot was the system running before you installed a new cooler? There's a possibility that permanent damage has been inflicted on one or more computer components due to the intense heat.

I reckon we do a few hardware tests:

RAM: Memtest86+ - 7+ passes
CPU: Prime95 - Torture Test; Blend; overnight (9+ hours)
Drives: Seatools - All basic tests aside from the Fix all, Long generic or the advanced ones. Also provide us a screenshot of CrystalDiskInfo output.

All of these are included in the UBCD if you prefer a Live CD environment (which is the best environment to test hardware on). Note that Prime95 currently does not work on the latest version of UBCD due to a bug. Also, please provide us temps/voltages using HWInfo with Sensors only option checked. Log two 30-minute instances: one for idle, and one for high load. If you can get the system to crash during high load logging, that's even better. Last, make sure that when running Prime95 that you check temps during first 30minutes or so to see if temps are stable. Prime95 runs very hot so be sure your cooling can handle it before letting it run extensively.

You may also want to just try reinstalling Windows (after you do the hardware tests). There's the possibility Windows didn't install all that well, and there's tons of issues popping up as a result.

Hey everybody,
I was recently watching netflix on my desktop and got a BSOD. I hadn't had any problems with my computer for months. I attempted to restart the computer, and was able to do so. However, upon restarting, I noticed that there were several problems with various components. For example, the resolution on the screen was very poor (looked like safe mode), the computer could not connect to the network, and the sound was not working. Then I got a message saying my copy of windows 7 was not genuine (I payed for it and it is genuine). I restarted the computer several more times in normal mode, got another BSOD, and then tried starting it up in safe mode. I tried to restore the computer to an earlier timepoint using windows backup and restore, but this did not help. Now I cannot even get into safe mode. The following message pops up:

Thanks for your help!

I just got a BSOD with the error STOP: 0x00000019, I've been recently getting BSOD with different types of errors like 0x0000001E and 0x0000001a. When I got those errors I was told to switch the RAM slots to a different dual channel option and when I did it, my computer could run in normal mode. Now everythings a bit shaky and somethings freeze for a second. My computer is 3 weeks old and it really sucks to have these problems already . I would like to restore my whole computer as in back to it's factory or new settings if it helps get rid of a virus of some sort. Sorry for not using 7-ZIP, I didn't have it installed.

I have a Dell XPS 8700, and BSODs occur almost on a daily basis.

The most recent one was 0x000000D1, with the netwew00.sys driver being supposed culpirt. But everyday it's a new BSOD and a different apparent cause.

I was in contact with Dell Support and they assured me it was all software related, but I'm not sure at this point. If it is truly software, I can persist and eventually get it sorted. But if not I want to try to get an exchange, as I believe it's still under warranty.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Hi everyone!

I've got this problem with BSODs, they don't just happen when I'm watching videos or so, it happens when I'm using word, or reading something on internet.

I've read that it can be because of the temperature, but it sometimes happens when the computer is still cold, so I don't know.

Hope there's some solution to this problem, and thank in advance!

Hi, Just today, I got sick and sat down to watch a movie and now two times during it, I've gotten BSODs. Worth mentioning is that the file is streamed over windows file sharing and that I had FFXIV running in background. Last BSOD happened just as a friend called on Skype.

Stop Message:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x000000d1 (0xfffff8800598e000, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000000, 0xfffff880047e879e). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\Minidump\013115-19312-01.dmp. Report Id: 013115-19312-01.

Any idea what caused it?

Please uninstall Daemon Tools. It uses a driver called sptd.sys which is known to cause BSODs in Windows 7.

 SPTD Removal:
Uninstall the software using Add/Remove Programs.
Reboot the system.
Once the program is uninstalled, run sptd.sys uninstaller to remove the driver from your system.
DuplexSecure - Downloads
As an alternative, many people recommend the use of Total Mounter or Magic ISO

Update the driver below: Driver Reference Table
Sometimes drivers remain and do not get completely uninstalled.

 Driver Removal Process:
Download Driver Sweeper to the desired location.
Extract the files from the zip.
Uninstall the driver Program & Features - Control Panel.
Run Driver Sweeper, check the drivers you want to uninstall or clean registry leftovers of.

Hi guys,
I have windows 7 32-bit, previously I was using windows xp and with win XP I had the same problem and I installed windows 7 hoping that it may solve the issue but it didn't.

My PC specs are --->
Processor : Intel Core2Duo E7200 2.53Ghz
Motherboard: ECS 945GCT-M2
Graphics card : Nvidia 8400 GS
RAM : 2 GB
LAN CARD: Realtek onboard 8100C/810x Fast family ehthernet NIC
SOUND: IDT Audio onboard

My problem is---->
While playing games I can hear some audio pops at irregular intervals(10-15 seconds) and then the display freezes, sometimes I can hear the game audio even after the system freezes and sometimes I hear a regular continous 'brrrrr' sound after the freeze. The only option left is to restart the pc.
After the system restart a windows dialogue appears saying the following --->

Welcome aboard, Zolo.

Your crash dumps are showing stop 0x124 which is caused wholly by hardware. To troubleshoot it, you are to follow the guide by H2SO4 : Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try.

Follow it, step by step.

I have been having issues with this error for some time now, but I didn't read too much into it at first. I just thought it was one of those things. As time went on, I noticed it started to get worse and worse, to the point where I could barely even play any games.

I've tried replacing my ram, still BSOD. Moved them into different sockets, still BSOD. Checked the cooling, everything seems good. Ventilation is good, installed a Corsair H100i for my cpu, and have 5 chassis fans.

I have also ran disk check on both of my hard drives, a Seagate 256 GB SSd and a Toshiba 2 TB HDD, no bad sectors reported.

I downloaded the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool and the test results came back 100% positive.

Just finished running a memtest overnight on one of my brand new sticks, reported 127 errors or so. (I do not have a screenshot as I thought that the results would automatically be saved on the usb stick.)

I am wondering if there is a strong case of my ram slots on the mobo itself being bad, considering I've tried multiple configurations and even gone as far as to swap out the old sticks. I have only had my motherboard for about a year and a half now, and I'm really hoping I don't have to replace it, but I do want this problem resolved.

I have attached my chkdsk results for my storage drive, my DM logs and my processor test results. I can redo the chkdsk for my SSD and post them here if need me. Any help is greatly appreciated and I hope to get this resolved as soon as p... Read more

A:BSOD while gaming/multitasking while watching videos, error 0x00000124

Welcome to 7F Cheeza, I'll see if I can help you resolve your issue.

There is only one dump in your logs (have you ran CCleaner at all?) but it confirms you're having 0x124 STOPs. First off a couple of questions if you wouldn't mind answering them mate.
Did you run MemTest86+? It's important we know what version you ran.
Are you overclocking any of your components?
How many sticks of RAM do you have installed and are all the slots populated?
If you can get back to me with those answers we'll go from there.

TechNoob97, you only had one dump file.

This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.

Hello!

I've been getting the same BSOD within an hour or two of using my computer. It's usually while I watch videos, but I've gotten instances of it while listening to music as well. I'm at a bit of a loss. I've updated my BIOS recently and that's solved many problems I've been having, but this remains.

Thank you for any help you can provide me with!

I got my X1 Yoga on 28 March 2016. After nearly 2 months with 5-10 BSOD breakdowns per day, Lenovo Support UK changed the SSD drive. So if you have BSOD 2100 detection error, I can only recommend to change the SSD drive, and dont listen to all the excuses for not doing so by Lenovo. After new SSD drive, my X1 Yoga has been performing ok.Only 1 BSOD, WDF violation, when I tried to uninstall McAfee. So SM 951 can be a crappy drive, but the new SM 951 apparently performing better.

Background
I got home on Friday night to be informed by my roommate that they had been conned by a scam operation claiming to be "Microsoft Certified Technicians".

They called her in the afternoon, and claimed that her computer had been infected by Trojan.w32.sober since September. They read of a string of random numbers and letters, claiming it was her "computer license ID", that only authorized technicians would have, and then proceeded to walk her through opening msconfig and counting the number of services listed as "stopped", which they then spun as evidence of virus infection and the need to pay them to fix the problem. Similar game was played opening event viewer. All standard spiel for this sort of con.

At this point, they tried to get her to download and run TeamviewerQS to remotely access her machine. Now, I already have the latest Teamviewer running on the computer, so TeamviewerQS would have thrown up a prompt saying something was already running. As she recalls, they had her click "OK" (rather than "Show running Teamviewer"), then directed her to a version page on the Teamviewer web site to download version 7 of the same app. (So far as I can tell, all versions downloaded were version 7.) When this didn't work, the scammer told her he'd have a supervisor call.

A few hours later, another phone call. I can't get a clear recount of the story from that point, but apparently they figured out how to drive the... Read more

Hey guys,

I was watching a video using Windows Media Player. About 7-10 minutes into the video, I would notice the graphics from the video suddenly disappear. It'd be a black screen, and then I start hearing some sound lag/distortion, and then the BSoD Error would occur. I would get the BSoD errors that I mentioned above. It happened to me about three or four times. I am running a HD Radeon 6450. I am not sure if any more details are needed. If they are, please let me know.

I have attached my crash dumps below.

Thanks for your time.

When a display driver stops responding to Windows, the kernel dispatches a Timeout Detection and Recovery routine. If the driver doesn't respond to this routine then Windows has no alternative but to bugcheck the machine. This event occurred in the ATI display driver, which is pretty old and should be updated.

Hello

I've been experiencing BSOD errors whilst viewing websites with embedded media such as YouTube content or fancy advertisements. There doesn't seem to be any indication that it's going to crash - it could be ok for twenty minutes or crash after one.

BSOD error codes are either: 0x0000007F dxgmms1.sys or 0x0000007F nvlddmkm.sys

I've tried updating the video drivers as recommend elsewhere but the problem persists. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

BSOD seems to mostly happen when I'm watching videos/streams online. When I'm just surfing the net or playing online games.. it seems to be fine.

I tried reformatting a couple of times, updating drivers, cleaning out the dust, applying new thermal paste, reseating parts, but nothing seemed to fix it.

This has been happening for a few months now and hopefully you guys can help me out with this problem.

Thanks for your time!

You have OC-ed your CPU badly.
0x101 = increase vcore
0x124 = increase/decrease QPI/VTT first, if not increase/decrease vcore...have to test to see which one it is
