BSOD's While Exiting Game, Exiting Chrome

Q: BSOD's While Exiting Game, Exiting Chrome

I have recently gotten three BSODs, one was from exiting to desktop from Far Cry 3, (the 3/12 10:26 pm) the other was when the computer was afk and not being used (3/13 6:36 PM) and 3/13 10:26pm from exiting Google Chrome.

Dump file uploaded. Please help, I really need to get rid of this, :l
I have updated my graphics drivers fully right after the AFK bsod and it still did the next bsod.

Heres a speccy link of my components

Hi alluclone.

The verifier enabled BSOD blames Daemon Tools, and you need to uninstall it.
Then disable verifier.

For your ongoing main issue, you need to install Service pack 1 and all other windows updates at first. Otherwise the system will remain vulnerable to threats.

Hello all,

I quite frequently get the dreaded BSOD when exiting Battlefield 2, or just when exiting a game to go back to the menu. I've had two different STOP messages detailing the following two files:

dxgmms1.sys
dxgkrnl.sys

I would be hugely grateful if someone could help me with debugging the attached .dmp file as a text file. I've also including a dxdiag file. If anything else is going to be helpful please let me know.

I've got an i5 processor, running Windows 7, 64-bit, a Radeon 5870, 4GB Black Dragon gaming ram (Windows memtest didn't find any problems).

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

The only thing I can suggest on your part is removing Daemon Tools. Then remove its problematic driver SPTD with this tool: http://www.duplexsecure.com/download...t-v174-x64.exe

If that doesn't work, contact the makers of the game, and ask them for support. It is almost certainly a problem with their program, not anything we can work on.

Ok, so I exited a Team Fortress 2, and all of a sudden, I get hit with a bsod, and restart. My laptop hasn't exactly been performing up to par on games, and I'm not sure if this is contributed to my connection or what. I copy and pasted this. First bsod on this system though, not very old, just over a month.

Hi, I've never had any issues like this with my PC, but whenever I play this particular game 'Life is Strange', upon clicking 'exit game' this BSOD appears, and only then. Other games run fine, and this game itself runs fine, it only happens upon exiting.

The error: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (win32kbase.sys)

My system:
i7 3770k
GTX 980 Ti
16GB Corsair Vengeance
Windows 10 Pro (CLEAN install, not an upgrade)
Asus Rampage V Maximus

NONE of my components are overclocked, and are all running very cool.

Things I've tried:
- Clean install of nvidia graphics drivers.
- Unplugging all devices beside mouse and keyboard.

I've memtest and had no errors with my memory. Again, these BSOD's ARE NOT random, they happen ONLY upon exit of this particular game, and I can't figure out why.

Any suggestions are much appreciated, thank you.

Hi,

Firstly, you dont have SP1 installed, install Windows Service Pack 1 as it will increase system stability.
Then once installed please run Windows Updates and install all the latest updates.

Hi again

I'm having this annoying problem with my monitor for a long time. My monitor has always been dark even when the built in brightness options are maxed, so I have always needed to rely on manually adjusting my Video Card brightness and gamma settings. Well the annoyance is each time I exit a game that I am playing, my Video card color settings reset to Default, so I have to repeatadly go into video card options and change my settings ever single time I exit a game!?!

Question is: Is there a way I can stop my Video Card (ATI Radeon 9600Xt) brightness settings from resetting to default every single time I leave a game? Are there any easy to use programs that can fix this? Is there a setting I'm forgetting to check (although I looked everywhere) in my video card settings that will stop this resetting to default?
Id really appreciate it if someone has any suggestions. This isn't a serious problem but It is extremely annoying since I have to go into my video card display settings about 20 times a day to reset my color scheme
Thx, hope someone can help

I was playing Modern Warfare 2. The game resolution was set to something smaller than my desktop resolution. when I exited the resolution of windows became such that everything is now very small.

I played around with the screen resolution but eventually settled on the one "recommended" by windows 7.

I checked, and it IS the native res of my monitor. when i press "auto" on my monitor, Windows doesn't fill the whole screen and there is a black margin about 2" thick on the left side of my screen.

When I've played other games in the past (Counterstrike, Battlefield, etc.) the screen comes back to windows and then a second later flashes and returns to the normal resolution.

please i really need help. my icons and the taskbar have definitely shrunk. i don't want to just ctrl+mousewheel my icons back to normal because they don't all increase and it looks ugly. i need a real solution.
thank you in advance. i tried googling this but came up with nothing. it's a hard thing to search for.

btw: i have an HD5800 with the latest drivers and CCC.

Hey, I have an Asus Xonar DX audio card and every single time after exiting Fifa 12 it makes this load annoying sound, it seems to repeat the last millisecond or two of audio very quickly at loud volume.

Now it does this each time I exit Fifa 12 and it's annoying because I have to go to device manager and disable/enable my device again for the sound to go away.

So I was hoping one of you might know what the problem is.

Also all my drivers are up-to-date.

A:Strange annoying sound after exiting game.

It would more likely be a problem with the Game. Poorly written games can cause audio/video problems after exiting.

Repost this in the Gaming section and maybe one of the Gamers will have a more definitive answer for you. Apparently your sound is working OK except for this one problem.

BSODs are graphics related, as is to be expected from your description of the problem.

First try updating your graphics driver:

Like the title says, every time I leave another program or game, my desktop screen icons are all out of place.
I use Desktop OK_64 to arrange the icons which also can restore the desktop layout to a previous date if necessary. Presently, I just move them back to where they belong. This problem happened 3 days ago and I haven't installed any software prior to that. Any ideas?

A:Desktop rearranging after exiting any game/program

The spot in the registry where Windows keeps track of folder layouts might be full or have bad data. Use the steps in the tutorial to reset that info back to the default state.

Folder View Settings - Reset All to Default

Then reposition your desktop shortcuts/icons and restart the computer.

That's the only info I could grab the screen only displayed very briefly.
Do I need a more specific error report and where do I find it?

So, randomly, when I close or exit a game, or when I'm watching a video online, and exit full screen mode from it, my computer blue screens.
I ran a bios checking my memory, and it didn't find any issues so I'm really wondering what's going on.
If I can get any help based on the issue and the error information I'd greatly appreciate it.

No system specs entered, which would help.
But doing a google search for bcc code 50 comes up with two potential areas. (1) Memory and (2) run chkdsk /f on the OS. But memory would be my suggestion to start with. If you have a memory or complete PC hardware diagnostic, such as the diagnostic partition on many Dell's (accessed by F12 at power on) run the diagnostics.

Dear All,

I have Windows XP Service Pack 2 and when I installed firewall such as ZoneAlarm or Comodo, I always get a blue screen of death when I want to remove my DVD RW.

I wonder if anyone can help me out with this problem? As it is getting a bit tiring having to remove my firewall everytime I want to put something on my DVD RW and then reinstall it before I go on the net.

Everything works fine without the firewall...so something is causing the conflict and I don't know how to pinpoint the culprit.

My error code from even manager is as below:

Error code 1000007e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 806ee753, parameter3 f7cbac28, parameter4 f7cba924.

This very same BSOD is back again :/

Last time, it used to freeze everything and then crash. Now, after exiting a game, the screen turns black and flickers from being turned on to off. Then it greets me with a very nice BSOD, with either VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE or VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR. The TDR one reffers to a file called igkmd64.sys, which I think is related to the Intel driver (again, just like last time). Everything is up to date in terms of drivers (especially NVidia), all besides the Intel one that's still at 10.18 (newest from Intel is 15.40, which for some reason I can't install :/ )
I suspect Windows Updates is the main problem here, but it may be something to do with the driver itself, since ASUS c*nts didn't bother to update their drivers to the newest.
Besides this, I have to mention that I ran the MemTest not so long ago, results showing that memory was working perfectly, no corruption, no anything like that.
Thanks in advance for any help

Thank you.

I installed new video drivers and several hours no hiccups. I have fixed the problem. Thanks a lot.

So I keep on getting a Blue Screen about 5-15 minutes after I exit LoTRO, and sometimes when I have not played LoTRO. I haven't been able to catch the error message before the computer restarts. But when I'm able to catch it, I see something about it being a memory error. In order to view the error log I realized that it was put in kernal mode, I have recently changed it to small memory dump, so if and when it decides to BOSD on me again I will be able to answer questions.

I have found some information about what you need to help me fix this problem and I've uploaded a zip file of the information gathered by the SF Diagnostic tool. I assembled this desktop around 2008-2009 and the only thing I did to it was add more ram and a video card. So if anyone could help me get this fixed, that would be wonderful, the BSOD is starting to get annoying.

A:BSOD After exiting LoTRO

Hi lastiel.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

If it does not show any error, enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

   Information
Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

   Warning
Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of enabling DV again.
If you cannot boot in Safe mode too, do a System Restore to a point you made earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

Hi, this desktop have been around for 3-4 years and i decided to upgrade the specs to use it again. Before i had the PSU and graphic card changed, it was already experiencing BSOD and it was caused by the amd drivers. I had them replaced on the 20th April 2013 and it was working fine until just yesterday where the BSOD occurs when i exit my game.( Happened twice yesterday when i exit Diablo 3 and League of Legends.) It occurred three times yesterday including one on start up and each time, i noticed that the error has a different code. It was 0x19, 0x7e and 0x3 if i remebered correctly. So yea please help me solve this issue and i thank you for any help in advance

This is the model of my desktop: HP Pavilion p6300 Desktop PC series*-* HP Pavilion p6390d Desktop PC Product Specifications - c01971599 - HP Business Support Center

I had the Radeon 4000 series changed to ASUS GTX 660 and the PSU from 300W to XIGMATEK NRP VC503 which is 500W.

Edit: I forgot to include that also after downloading and playing Diablo 3 yesterday, I experience this freeze whereby i can see the harddisk light infront of the CPU to be orange and it does not even blink. It just stays there until the freeze is gone for roughly 10-15s.

I only get BSODs when exiting any game with decent graphics after playing for about an hour. If i play these games in windowed mode i dont seem to have that problem..
When playing Battlefield 3 yesterday the game seemed to froze-up every 5mins and would only unfreeze if i alt tabbed and hit CTRL+ALT+DEL and then open the task manager (had the same problem in other FPS).

My configuration, i have the latest drivers installed and i tried all kinds of older drivers for my VGA:
Windows 7 64-bit
Mainboard GA-MA785GT-UD3H
Phenom II X2 555 - no OC
Nvidia GTX 460
4x1GB Corsair 1333 CL9
1x HDD WD Caviar Black 500GB
PSU Antec True Power 550W ~ 4years old

- ran the memtest in DOS for 5 hours with no errors
- ran prime95 for 20min with no errors, temp at 34 degrees max
- ran furmark for 15min, GPU at 61 degrees max
- ran both prime95 and furmark for 10mins, no problems

The windows have been reinstalled about 5 months ago, i had the same problems before that also.

What can cause these BSODs ?

Hello everyone, first time poster, though I do wish I didn't have to =p

I am generally an avid PC gamer, and play games on Steam on my custom built PC. Lately, I have been getting BSODs after exiting games. This does not happen every time, and the game seems to vary. The three times it has happened in the past two days occurred from Path of Exile, Hearthstone, and Darksiders.

The dump files seem to indicate that it could either be ntoskrnl.exe or cdd.dll, which is not terribly helpful. Yesterday I updated my video card drivers to the latest NVIDIA (332.21) to see if it might help, but it just happened today after exiting Darksiders.

Nothing hardware related has been changed for a year plus, nor any recent driver installations besides the NVIDIA one, having difficulty identifying what at all has changed.

I have attached a ZIP with the required diagnostic files. I have also attached a text file with the messages that WhoCrashed gave me regarding the 3-4 dump files I have.

Thank you in advance for any help you may provide

Hey guys, i have an issue that is very irritating. I'm getting blue screens after exiting some games.

"BUGCHECK_STR: 0x76" is the most recent. This wasn't happening before i reinstalled my windows. I am hoping to pick up an SSD drive shortly, but if my PC keeps on playing up then i don't really want to chuck even more money at it, unless it's 100% working.

It's currently giving me BSOD's on Fifa 11 and MOH beta. All my other games appear to be working fine.

All my settings are stock, that includes clock speeds and voltages.

I have uploaded the minidump files, if someone would kindly take a look for me it would be very much appreciated.

I did try and read the flies myself, but was always getting symbols error on the debugging program.

I'm leaning toward it being an issue with my Killer NIC 2100. But i can't be certain. I haven't disabled my onboard NIC, if the Killer 2100 is the problem. Would disabling my onboard NIC solve the issue do you think?

ok, i wrote this in a similar thread started by someone else, but got no answer for the last two days, so i'm making a new thread.

I'm getting BSODs on windows 7 - for about 10 months now (i'm serious!)

I've been using Windows 7 Professional 64bit from february till july 2010, and Windows 7 Professional 32bit from july until two weeks ago. BSODs appeared on both versions, when exiting a game but not always (Counter-strike, half-life2 deathmatch, even quake live etc).

Searched a bit on the net, found similar topics even on this forum, but no real solution.

so i'm attaching the content from the minidump folder. it's only from my win 7 32bit, i have no files left from my win 7 64bit installation (prior to july).
i find the issues quite similar to alexseven's description, i've seen BSODs more often when exiting Counter-Strike (maybe because it's my most played game). About 1 of 10 times when pressing quit in the game, would result in a BSOD - saying something about cdd.dll, sometimes win32k.sys, sometimes no file was specified. While the BSOD was on my screen, a buzzing noise could be heared from my speakers (I've disabled the automatic restart, so i can get to read the messages in the BSOD - i even took pictures of them, and could hear the noise untill i would reset my PC manually).
I got BSODs not only in games, but also when exiting Steam, and sometimes Yahoo messenger (v 10).

I just got Windows 7 a couple days ago, and whenever I exit sleep mode, my display driver fails and my computer enters the BSOD. I didn't think TOO much of it at first (having to do with exiting sleep mode), because I had this error before in Vista, though it would just happen randomly (once or twice a week) and was due to my second monitor. However, now this error occurs when I don't have an extra monitor plugged into my laptop. I am currently using Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit.
I'd upload a mini-dump file, but my mini dump folder is empty.

Hello, I have seen this thread on this forums a couple times, however I know all problems can be different. As the tittle says, I usually get a BSOD after sleep mode. The problem has been occurring ever since I went from VGA to DVI-HDMI. As well as getting my H50 Crosair water cooler. I am almost positive it isn't the CPU cooler because I have constantly monitored tempature w/ Realtemp as well as ran a full Prime95 flawlessly. I had to set a custom resolution w/ Nvidia because the one recommend has my start bar and desktop icons off the edge of my TV. Here is the minidump files as well as some potentially useful information regarding spec below.

GTX 260 latest drivers
Q66 Core 2 Quad 2.48GHz
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

EDIT: CCleaner removed the minidump files... However I took a picture on my phone of the STOP: it reads STOP:0x000000F7. I am huge noob to BSOD messages to please tell me if you need anymore information I need to obtain.

Hello guys,

I've encountered this issue just now and want to make sure it is not anything too serious, there is not much to say save for the fact that as soon as I hit exit to desktop the BS appeared.

I'm running a custom made PC with the following Specs :

CPU : AMD Phenom II X4 960T Black Edition 3.0GHz box
HDD : Samsung 1 TB SATA-II 7200RPM 32MB rpm Spinpoint F3
RAM : KingMax Nano Gaming RAM 4GB DDR3 1600MHz ( dual channel, hand set on 1333 mhz to avoid perf. issues )
VIDEO :Gigabyte GeForce GTX 460 SE 1GB DDR5 256-bit

My power supply unit is a very competent Corsair series unit, so I do not believe that would be an issue. I've attached the performance monitor report along with your Utility tool report.

The operating system is a Windows 7 Ultimate on 64 bits, and the entire hardware is fairly new ( <2 months old ).

Thank you for your time.

A:BSOD while alt tabbing or exiting dota 2

This is an indigenous issue of switchable graphics.

When you are in game, the dedicated GPU is in use. When you alt+tab or exit, the integrated GPU comes to force. Whenever the integrated GPU comes in action, the computer BSODs.

The ideal course of action in this situation is to boot into the BIOS, to order the computer to use the dedicated GPU only and to perform a clean reinstall them.

As you are reluctant to do it, do these ......

Install Service pack 1 and all other windows updates. Otherwise the system will remain vulnerable to threats.

Hi!
I have a new HP Probook 4730s with these specs:

Intel? Core™ i5-2430M (2,4 GHz)
4 GB DDR3
AMD Radeon HD 7470M 1 GB GDDR5 (switchable graphics)
running Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Everything works OK but I keep getting BSOD's after exiting various games like FIFA, Prototype...(but some games work normally). I always set games to high performance in switchable graphics options and they all run fine without trouble.

The BSOD always shows atikmdag.sys as the problem. I have searched for solutions on this and found out that there can be a lot of things that can set off this error.
I reinstalled graphic drivers (for the Radeon and also Intel HD) which I can only get from HP's page. I tried to get the drivers directly from AMD but there is no drivers at all for my card there.
I also tried the method, where you copy and extend atikmdag.sy_, but with no luck.

So, the two main things about it is, that it always occurs at the same time (right after I exit the game) and it always shows atikmdag.sys to be the problem.

I have added the minidump files. Please help me resolve this.

Hello Watchmyback, welcome to SF!

A lot of dumpfiles with a number of potentially different problems.
But MOST of your problems seem to be related to a STALKER game, at least I think so... The engine part of that game xrEngine.exe, modules within there, are giving the trouble. So, before we go into loads of system tests, could you first update us on what happens exactly?

Are you playing STALKER?
Is it ONLY in that game (ending it) that you have crashes?

You really need to update the Windows system files, but you won't be able to do that because of the counterfeit installation you have running.

Counterfeit installations such as yours contains heavily modified code that causes the installation to behave it unexpected ways. Analysing BSOD's and determining their causes on these sorts of installations is very unreliable.

My recommendation is to start with a clean slate, and install a genuine version of Windows. This will minimise the problems you are experiencing, and make subsequent diagnosis of BSOD's far more reliable. Once you are running a genuine Windows installation, and are still experiencing BSOD's, we will be happy to help you solve them.

Good evening-

I've been experiencing BSOD's at an increasingly frequent rate since early July. It only seems to happen when I am playing, alt-tabbing out of, or exiting online games (GW2, FFXIV), or streaming video. The most recent BSOD took place last night during an FFXIV session. The most common error messages are system service exception and system thread exception not handled, though there have been a couple of others.

Once the BSOD's started, I downloaded Nirsoft's blue screen viewer - almost all of the crashes are linked to ntoskrnl.exe, nvlddmkm.sys, and dxgmms1.sys. The real issue is that the problem is fairly intermittent - one crash per 2-3 days. When I had a ram stick die on my last year it was pretty simple to diagnose, but I've proven unable to track this one down using my normal methods. Research online hasn't pointed to any specifics so I thought I would ask some experts for help.

Things I've tried so far:
Uninstalled all drivers and programs installed since the blue screens became frequent in June.
Updated nvidia drivers.
Ran chkdsk and virus scan with no hits on either
Updated BIOS
Ran memtest for 4 passes (about 2 hours) with no errors
Discarded an old, unsupported USB headset (which I thought was the culprit until a few nights ago)

I am not a very accomplished debugger, so any help you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Update:

I realized that I had beta nvidia drivers installed and rolled back to 320.49 WHQL, which given that I had that driver installed during several BSOD's might not fix the issue, but I did do a clean install of the drivers during the rollback.

Hoping to play FFXIV later tonight, so I will update with another dump if I crash again.

joshykins, the file you uploaded doesn't contain any dump files.
Make sure windows is properly configured to generate them by following this tutorial:

Other than that MSI-Afterburner is well known for causing bugchecks on Windows 7, regardless of the fact
that diagnosing an overclocked machine is useless being that running a part out of spec will
cause all sorts of misleading errors to spew out.
Please revert all overclocked components back to stock speed and remove MSI-Afterburner.

First off, thank you in advance for any help, this problem has persisted for quite some time, and it is really starting to frustrate me. My computer has been experiencing crashes daily for a while now, and I strongly suspect my power supply is the problem, but I do not have very much experience with this problem. My computer will just crash without any warning whatsoever when I play TF2, Nexuiz, or any other game for that matter. I could be playing for anywhere from 20 minutes to 3 hours and get a crash at any point in between. Who Crashed and BlueScreenView point out ntoskrnl.exe more than any other driver, but occasionally it will point out my graphics driver, lan driver, or directx itself. I would be grateful if someone would analyze this data and give me their two cents.

For as long as I can remember having my Dell XPS14z (about a year) it has had a problem where it occasionally crashes going out of sleep. The rate of occurance slowly inched up as time passed until in the past few months, it went out of control. At some points, it crashed 100% of the time exiting sleep.

The computer will wake up, and then one of several things may happen. The computer screen will remain blank; The login page will resume but not register clicks; the login page will resume and register my clicking on my account but it will then freeze; etc. Occasionally the problem resolves itself after a minute, but now, it will eventually go to a blue screen of death, most recently with the error code 0x00009086. (I am not sure if this was always the error code that occured, but it has been the one that is occuring now.)

The memory dump always fails with status 0C000009C. Afterwards, the computer will remember nothing of the crash in the event viewer and simply assume that I improperly shut it down. (Edit: Yes, I did go into the system settings and set the computer to create minidump files)

I have contacted Dell multiple times about this. We have reinstalled the Bios, run Dell Fixit, used a startup option to check the hardware for errors, and reinstalled the graphics cards. Each time, the problem would go away for ~24 hours and then suddenly come back. I have additionally tried using the fsc/scannow and system repair, to no avail.

Greetings everyone,
Recently I start having random DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE BSODs generally after exiting Star Trek Online. I used to have a TDR 0x116 BSOD error which I solved by reverting to a previous version of my GPU driver and deactivating the TDR from registry.
The new 0x9F error happens randomly, yet not while playing the game, generally few minutes after exiting the game. Any idea which driver/program can be the source for this error.
Thank you in advance for the help!

I have been getting the 0x1A and 0x1E BSODS for some time now and i have decided to do something about it. I noticed that this happens when i exit a game or whilst playing it(when stressing the ram/pc). If i play a non-demanding game no BSODs happen, i tried memtest but it froze on test 13 the last time i used it. Also Driver Verifier doesn't seem to find any problems when i run it. i uploaded the Minidumps for 0x1A and 0x1E. Any help is appreciated! uploaded that specs thingy as well.

Hi! I've been navigating the forums for a while now but I finally found myself in the need of creating a thread. I recently made a fresh install of windows on my PC, but I've noticed that I keep getting BSOD's every now and then when I exit a game or a video in full screen. Thanks
ron

A:Exiting pxe rom

PXE-Rom is a network boot, you will only see this if the Bios does not find a drive to boot from. If you have the windows cd or a live Linux cd you could give 1 of those a try in the cd drive bay, but I suspect a failed hard drive or loose connection to the hard drive is your problem.

my brother tried to reinstall Windows 7 on his laptop ( Lenovo B570) but it gave an error when he tried to format the C: partition ( primary partition): Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is not of the GPT partition style.

after that, he deleted the partition by mistake

it didn't want to do anything anymore...so he restarted...then, this error: ( well, it's the last line but you can understand it, I think) Exiting PXE ROM. I read somewhere that it wants to boot from the NIC, Ethernet card. In Bios, first two options for booting are DVD Rw and HDD ( Realtek is the last one- 7th or so and can't disable it, only change the order of devices to boot) yet this is the only device the laptop chooses to boot from.
Oh, he asked for someone's help and somehow the laptop succeded to boot from dvd - then his friend launched command prompt and cleaned the drive ( meaning he deleted the all partitions, right?)

I put a Win 7 dvd (bootable) inside the dvd wr - I can see its attempt to boot from it but no , goes to that error
If I change the order ( HDD first and DVD wr second) still the same error.

My brother went to some repair shop and they say it's easy as we should install a licensed windows ( up to now I only had "other types of windows" installed.

A:Exiting PXE ROM

If the disk is GPT it means the install was to UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with - Windows 7 Forums.

Secure Boot must be disabled in BIOS (as it would be for Win7 anyway) while some level of CSM or Legacy BIOS may need to be enabled. Set the SATA controller to AHCI in BIOS setup.
The installer must be booted as a UEFI device. So you'd set the UEFI DVD drive as first device to boot in BIOS setup Boot tab, or trigger it from the one-time BIOS Boot menu key at boot which is F12 on Lenovo or using the tiny rescue button next to the Power Button to start the PC directly to BIOS menu.

If these fail then report back the exact settings choices in BIOS Setup Advanced, Security and Boot tabs relating to Secure Boot, CSM, Legacy BIOS and BIOS Boot priority order. Pictures will help. Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Seven Forums - Windows 7 Forums

Hey so my power supply blew up so I went and brought a new one and put it in my computer turns on but when it's loading I get in the BIOS Black screen with text

PXE-MOF: EXITING PXE ROM

Press any key....

What do I do and how do I fix? I need to get back on my main PC asap got some work due.

A:Pxe-mof: Exiting Pxe Rom

Most of the BIOS screens are blue. That error does come up on a black screen and could suggest that more than the power supply went bad, hard to tell if the power supply took out part of the motherboard or a problem on the motherboard took out the power supply. Possible that the HDD is also involved. You should see a prompt to press a key to enter the BIOS Setup, could be F2, Del, F10, Esc key or another, press it while it is showing on the screen.

A:PXE-MOF:Exiting PXE ROM

"PXE-MOF:Exiting PXE ROM"

That indicates that your laptop is trying to boot from the network adapter because it cannot find a bootable partition on the hard drive. This could mean that your hard drive has failed, so you need to test it to be certain.

You can test it with Seagate SeaTools for DOS from here: SeaTools | Seagate

After downloading that, you'll then need to install IMGBurn on a working PC: Download ImgBurn 2.5.7.0 - FileHippo.com

Use IMGBurn to create a CD from the SeaTools ISO file, then boot your laptop from that CD & SeaTools will eventually open. User Guide for SeaTools for DOS is on the same Seagate page you downloaded SeaTools from.

You may have to go into BIOS Setup to set "CD/DVD drive" as the first boot device if the laptop ignores the CD.

Hello,

I am having trouble with a new SSD I just installed. Here are some of the details:
- Dell Insprion 14z - 5423 Laptop
- Old HDD: 500GB HDD in and there is a 32GB SSD component. I don't know if that is on the drive or MB. Not too familiar.
- I installed a new Samsung EVO 840 1TB SSD
- Old drive was running Windows 7 Ultimate
If I do let it boot up without entering BIOS, this is what the screen shows.

Does the fact that there is still the 32GB SSD showing matter?

What I have done"
- Removed battery, removed SSD. Replaced SSD and battery. Same result.
- Checked all cables (I think) a few times.
- Tried booting from DVD ROM, but no luck, which I am assuming is cause I am having an issue with the hard drive.

When I "x" out a program, sometimes the following message appears on the screen:

The instruction as "Ox058d454d" referenced memory at "Ox058d454d".
The memory could not re "read". Click on OK to terminate the program.

What does this mean?

A:Exiting a program

Not uncommon (unfortunately).

It indicates that there is a corruption in a file somewhere (possibly a driver or a program .dll) that is trying to read a memory address that does not exist.

Often its to do with "add-ins" to a program that cease functioning properly or do not unload correctly at exit time.

It happens here from time to time in Internet Explorer, to do with the way the Adobe Reader add-in exits. As it causes no other problems, I just live with it as correction may cause as many problems as it fixes!

Go to http://www.net-integration.net/tools/hijackthis.html and download 'Hijack This!'.

make sure it is placed into it's own folder, not a temporary folder. Then doubleclick the Hijackthis.exe.
Click the "Scan" button, when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.
Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log (in the security section)
It will possibly show issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required,
so do NOT fix anything yet.

Only way to really stop them is to kill them in Task Manager.

They are meant to be suspended in the background, to be easily brought back up. They don't give you a way to exit them..

Many times I can have several programs running with the tabs on the taskbar. But lately, when I try to exit a program by clicking the x in the upper right of the screen, the program doesn't end, it hangs up. And the only way to end it is to click Ctrl-Alt-Del. and bring up the Task Manager. And every time I do that another screen pops up saying the program is not responding and I click the "end now" button. And when I do that, a lime green box appears beside the clock on the taskbar saying I'm at 100% of CPU usage, which is probably not good. I've run my registry cleaner RegDefense, I've scaned my whole computer for SpyWare and viruses and it was clean. I'm running XP Pro with SP3 and it is all up to date.I've rarely had problems like this shutting down something that's running and I don't know what else to do. Also, how come whenever I try to go to a new webpage,it rarely opens up full screen? I'm constantly resizing everything. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

After my last tech problem, I ended up reinstalling Windows XP Pro. http://www.techsupportforum.com/f10/...rk-509116.html

All was going well until I tried exiting a game I was playing, in this case, Fallout 3. Instead of going to the desktop, the PC restarted. I thought perhaps it might have something to do with it being a somewhat CPU intense game, so I loaded up an older game, Kingpin, but the same thing happened. It also happened with Modern Warfare. I was able to minimize these games, but even attempting to end the program from the task manager caused it to restart.
After a spyware scan it seemed to stop, so I thought no more of it.
However, while I was playing World of Goo (one of the least CPU intensive games ever) I had to minimize for a moment, and after maximizing, it restarted the computer again.
This didn't happen at all until I reinstalled Windows, the computer shows no signs of overheating and there's no framerate issues or anything amiss while I'm actually playing the game.

Anyone have any ideas what might be wrong?

Ok, when you exit a game, is it just a black screen with the mouse pointer you can move, or do you get back to the desktop? By reboot do you mean a Windows shutdown/restart or holding in your power button on your case?

Have any games worked correctly ever? Do other apps (browser, etc) work correctly? Let's start with these.

Greetings all-

I use old-favorite DOS-based DesignCAD 2D. Works fine under Win98, works fine on an older XP machine with SP3. But in my new Dell XP computer, launches OK, seems to work OK, except...it crashes XP when I exit it, with the usual B S o' D. I've tried Compatibility mode = Win 98 + various memory-allocation variations to no avail. Also tried reducing hardware acceleration to no avail.

How can I fix this short of KVM-switching between the old & new computers? Very frustrating since it almost, almost works.

Basically, Most of the time upon exiting a major program (mostly games example Battlefield 2 PC game, NOT somthing like windows explorer) causes my pc to crash.. its been going on for a while now, but previously it rarely happened and even when it did, i didnt think much of it, but as of late its been happening 50% of the time. When i am running the said application, i dont get any freezing effects or anything to indicate there ss any problems, just when i exit, and when i am suppose to see the desktop popping up i either see a black screen or the desktop frozen with the mouse pointer refusing to move.

Any help on this matter will be appreciated.

See if it seems to be the same sort of error, in the same module, that is happening for each of the programs having the crash on exit.

Have you changed much in the graphics area lately? DirectX, video card drivers, and games sort of have an ongoing boxing match with each other. Sometimes moving to a newer - and sometimes reverting to an older - driver version helps.

Best of luck

Hello,

Since a short period of time I have been getting blue screens after exiting games. When this started it was pretty "rare" to occur, but it feels like it's occuring more often now (happened 3 times in a row yesterday for example). Mostly in Battlefield 3.

I have searched for solutions and have spend countless of hours trying to solve this. Other's have/had the same issues, but after trying many of their "fixes" I found no success. So please don't tell me this is "already solved" or "repost".

Every bluescreen results in code 116, which means GPU related (as far as I've found out). After running several "diagnostic" programs, they all tell me it's something related to the GPU driver. I've tried to reinstall this driver from scratch, upgrade (to latest stable + latest beta versions), downgrade (to 2 older stable versions), but none seems to help.

I am really out of thoughts that I could try myself, when I stumbled across this forum and found others with similar issues. I decided to post a topic, so here I am. In the attachment I attached the files as requested in the information topic.

Thanks ahead, any help is very much appreciated!

Rob

A:BOSD after exiting games

Update:
I believe my graphics card is simply broken now. Why? Because this morning I started my PC, no problems. Then about an hour of being turned on, I blue screened out of nowhere (again just black screen, but the exact same as other times).

After this, when I tried to turn on my PC, the screen would not display (but I know it was turning on, because the lights in my mouse/keyboard started turning on). All the fans in my pc were acting normal, except for the GPU fan, which is running at max speed.

When I connect my monitor on the motherboard plug (onboard graphics) my monitor turns on and my PC boots no problem (except the GPU is still running at max fans).

In my eyes, this means that my GPU is simply broken or the drivers for it are doing something weird.

I am still curious wether or not this is fixable by software fixes, or wether this means my GPU is fried and I have to send it for repairs.

Thanks again,
Rob

Hi, i have a very annoying problem here. When i launch certain programs in windows desktop they close after a second (or less). I noticed that if i run them with administrator mode they run normally. Can anyone say me what to do? Tanks in advance

A:Programs are exiting after launch

Hello ihavenokia, and welcome to Eight Forums.

If you like, you could use OPTION FIVE in the tutorial below to set them to always "Run as administrator" to not have to manually do so each time you want to run them.

Run as Administrator - in Windows 8

Hope this helps,
Shawn
