BSOD when starting Phantasy Star Online 2. GameGuard?

Q: BSOD when starting Phantasy Star Online 2. GameGuard?

Hi, you guys helped me save this computer from a string of really annoying BSODs a year ago and it's been great since, although I can't seem to find the actual thread. Anyway I've been trying to play this game, Phantasy Star Online 2

However, every time I try to start it and GameGuard finishes initializing/updating, I get a BSOD. The actual BSOD that pops up doesn't say the actual error message, but from BlueScreenView, it says PAGE_FAULT BEYOND_END_OF_ALLOCATION.

This is a BSOD that can be reproduced every time I start the game, although I recently did a system restore to before GameGuard was installed and thus deleted the later mini-dumps, but I still have one from an earlier attempt 11 days ago. Other than the PSO2 BSODs, this computer has had zero problems, especially when playing other games like Warframe and Path of Exile.

I can kinda guess and say that GameGuard is to blame, but I'd like an expert opinion on what is behind these BSODs, and if possible, try and get this game working so I can play.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I was able to play this game on this same PC when it had Vista, before I upgraded to Windows 7.

After some DIY debugging, i think it is due to his wifi device being plugged into a USB 3.0.
I have suggested him to update the wifi device's driver and usb 3.0 driver.
Have also suggested him to test if the speed is bottlenecked when device is plugged into usb 2.0 port instead.

But I am unable to make out what the second compressed file is about, symbol errors D:

Has anyone gotten this to work on Ubuntu with Wine? I haven't tried it yet,(My first day on Linux) but I heard from a friend that someone did. Any help?

Even if it works it will probably have issues. I played SOFII on an ubuntu install and it wasn't pretty. I'm now using FC5 and use it mainly for surfing without worrying about spyware/viruses. My windows install is for my gaming.

A:Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst :: HELP!

Try defragmenting your system and cleaning the disc.

Start>program files>accessories>system tools>Disc Cleanup & System Defrag

This may not fix it but it is step 1, report back with your system specs and a HiJack this log for someone else to read.

Edit: What exactly happens? Does it crash to desktop or freeze or anything like that?

SP1 isn't installed, please do the following:

Quote:
Installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1
1. Visit the PC manufacturer's website and update ALL drivers. DO NOT use Windows Update or the "Update drivers" function of Device Manager.
2. Check Device Manager for any unknown/disabled devices - if there are unknown/disabled devices, fix them with the latest drivers from the device manufacturer's website (not the PC Manufacturer)
3. Visit Windows Update and get all updates (may take repeated visits)
4. Visit Windows Update and get Service Pack 1 (usually under Important Updates). Read these notes for installing SP1: Steps to follow before you install Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 from the Microsoft Download Center
5. Visit Windows Update and get any other available updates. May take repeated visits, but keep it up until you get several "Windows is updated" results.
If you're having difficulties with installing a Service Pack, please use the SURTool from this link: What is the System Update Readiness Tool?
Also, check out this troubleshooting link from Microsoft: Troubleshoot problems installing Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2

I have had limited success in installing updates/Service Packs when using a "clean boot". I suspect that I'm just bypassing the problem - and that it can come back to bite me in the butt later on.

Greetings everyone,
Recently I start having random DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE BSODs generally after exiting Star Trek Online. I used to have a TDR 0x116 BSOD error which I solved by reverting to a previous version of my GPU driver and deactivating the TDR from registry.
The new 0x9F error happens randomly, yet not while playing the game, generally few minutes after exiting the game. Any idea which driver/program can be the source for this error.
Thank you in advance for the help!

Hi Gsutac, welcome to the Seven Forums.

Your crash dumps are pointing towards both NVidia display drivers and DirectX. Please update your display drivers from NVidia's site Welcome to NVIDIA - World Leader in Visual Computing Technologies, and DirectX from Download: DirectX End-User Runtime - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details.

Hi guys. This windows install has been running flawlessly until Tuesday. I purchased a Pioneer BDR-206 BDK internal 5.25" optical drive and installed it. It wasn't running perfectly so I changed my SATA type in BIOS to AHCI. That nerfed my Windows install and I had to fix it with my Windows 7 flash drive's repair utility. That fixed it, but I got reboots when ripping a CD (in the process of ripping/converting to flac my brother's giant CD collection) and playing Star Trek Online and Battlefield 3. So, I'm only random rebooting/BSODing (I changed the registry entry to 0 so I can take a picture of the actual BSOD error) under heavy load. Yesterday it happened while just playing Star Trek Online, as I quit trying to rip while playing games.

I built this machine in April of 2009. Since then it has received a new HDD, GPU, and the addition of the aforementioned optical drive. I have attached the .zip specified in the sticky in this forum and followed that OP's instructions to the best of my ability.

This Windows install is from December of 2011 and it is Windows 7 Ultimate x64 full student retail. This is the machine's third Windows 7 install, and the first one on this HDD. The first install was the public beta. I am overclocked and custom water cooled and I tried changing all X58 chipset-specific OCing parameters back to stock for X58 and an i7 920 with no change in behavior so please don't tell me "oh lulz it's broken because you're overclocking." All 4 crashdumps are WHEA errors reported by your CPU. Two of them state a data write error in your L2 cache of your CPU, while the other two state an issue with the internal timer of your CPU. You had the Intel Linpack benchmark running for three of them at the time, so I assume this was during stress testing while you were checking out your OCing.

There's a couple things I've seen that would cause what appears to be CPU failure displayed by these WHEA error records. First off, if you're using any utilities or software that came with your motherboard, please uninstall them. All OCing should be done straight from the motherboard. Software-based OCing is not preferred, and often the software that runs them is riddled with bugs that actually make WHEA think that the CPU is failing. The other motherboard software I've seen do the same thing in order to perform some gimmick. It's recommended to remove em all. If you wish to OC, you should resort only to doing so with the BIOS.

If none of that seems to resolve the issue, than run MemtestCL for a few passes. I've actually seen graphics cards cause these WHEA errors before (rare, but it happens). You may also run Prime95 on Torture Test at Large FFTs overnight if you wish to test your CPU specifically.

In addition, you'll want to provide us some voltage/temp logs with HwInfo. When it starts, check Sensors only, then record two logs: one during idle and one during high load. For idle have it run 30 minutes. For high load, it'd be ... Read more

Your crash dumps are not showing any finite probable cause. In such a situation, it is better to enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

   Information
Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

   Warning
Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of enabling DV again.
If you cannot boot in Safe mode too, do a System Restore to a point you made earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

Also upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.
Click on the start button
Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.

Today I bought 'Star Wars: Battlefront' for PC to play while I wait for the new game to be released in 2015. All my life, I've had a preference to console gaming, however, a console version was not available to me in any of the outlets I visited. So this is the first PC game I've bought. Also I'd like to add that I'm not particularly a wiz with laptops or PCs -I only use my laptop for social media and such.

That aside, I used a tutorial via YouTube to help me install the game and everything went fine during the installation process. When I select to play the game; the main menu pops up but when I select 'Start Game', the loading symbol next to the cursor appears then the menu vanishes and the cursor goes back to normal, and the game just never loads. I tried this a few more times and when it became apparent that it wasn't going to work -on the main menu- I selected 'Help' then 'Analyze Your Computer' and this is what I'm presented with a window named 'System Checker'. My system meets all the requirements according to this and it says at the bottom "Your computer is qualified to play Star Wars Battlefront." But the problem still persists.

The next thing I tried was left-clicking on the game and selecting 'Run As Administrator' to see if that helped and a quick bar popped up saying 'Check For Online Updates'. I did this although I have no plans of playing online and w... Read more

As Gameguard is integrated into the games, this is the only remedy to stop the BSOD's.

May I ask you some questions before we start?

Earlier you had a nvidia GPU? The crash dumps upto 01.04.2013 indicates to nvidia GPU (a very known issue it was).

Probably due to those crashes you changed the GPU? The crashes of 24.04.2013 onwards are indicating to ATI GPU. This is also a very known issue, but a worst one. Let us discuss.

It is a bugcheck inherent with the ATI drivers. Universal. We dont know why it happens (AMD keeps it private). But we may try to troubleshoot.

Have you updated the display driver in between? If so, roll back to the earlier driver that worked good there.
Device Manager - Roll Back Driver

If not, uninstall the ATI/AMD display driver in Control Panel > Programs and features. Then follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling

When done, download an earlier version of display driver from AMD Graphics Drivers & Software . Dont install CCC.

Does it work? If not, better you RMA the ATI GPU, as it is a new one.

On a serious side note, using two real time protection programs are harmful.

There are not any mini dmp files in the upload, doesn't appear have been one created.

See if there is a full dump under %SystemRoot%\memory.dmp and upload that.

Also my computer crashes when i am not there i will come home to the log in screen any help would be great thanks

A:BSOD while trying to download star wars

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

When I go to press the play button on the splash screen of the game, I get a blue screen that reads:

PAGEFAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

I've tried reinstalling, but that didn't work. When I re-installed, I didn't remove everything. I ran the system file checker as suggested by someone over at Yahoo! Answers, that didn't work either. So now I'm turning to you guys. I don't want to completely re-install without at least trying to troubleshoot first. The game takes awhile to re-download.

Recently I have been invited into the Early access of The Old republic MMO by Bioware and Previously 2 Beta weekends My problems began in November while playing the game I would encounter some BSoD's .. now in November I had an Idea of what the issue was , I had puchased an 850W PSU and during the install I noticed a somewhat broken connector (all pins still there but the housing was not complete) but everything worked so I went ahead and used it

yesterday I began playing the Early game access, well the problems returned and so did my previous 500W but the issue continued, at this point I began research into what was causing it .. downloaded BlueScreenView. upon using the program I proceeded to update my video and sound drivers ... once that was complete I once again experienced a BSoD. the Good news is it didn't point to my video or sound cards ... bad news is the apparent underlying cause is ntoskrnl.exe+7cc40 which I have no Idea how to fix .... the .dmp files in the zip go way back into June (and looking at them Ive had issues with this file multiple times).... as far as I can tell it only happens under sever graphic use (but I cant remember back to June)

any help that you can give would be appreciated

and if you need anything else please let me know

I have my computer overclocked at 3.6 GHz using an i7 870 processor. I don't seem to be running into any type of overheating if my analysis tool is correct (Openhardwaremonitor).

When I am doing the download after a minute or two i will get the memory dump screen.

Please let me know if i need to give anymore information.

These crashes were caused by memory corruption (probably your video driver). Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.

Recently, I built my new PC build early June. After all the Windows Update and hopefully, installed all the recent/updated drivers, I've been experiencing some odd BSoD crashes at random times. Some cases, I would experience a random BSoD, while my computer was idle. Another case was related to accessing my Device Manager that somehow triggered the BSoD. Just recently, I was testing/tweaking some game/graphic settings within Star Citizen, while I was alt-tabbed to answer a few messages via Facebook.

I have uploaded the DM Log Collector zip file.

A:Recent BSOD 0x0000004E while playing Star Citizen

Welcome to the forum MrFujiKicker,

Take memtest. Run for 8 passes and test each stick in a know good slot for an additional 6 passes.RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Quote:
The goal is to test all the RAM sticks and all the motherboard slots.

Check your motherboard manual to ensure the RAM sticks are in the recommended motherboard slots. Some motherboards have very specific slots required for the number of RAM sticks installed.

If you get errors, stop the test and continue with the next step.

1. Remove all but one stick of RAM from your computer (this will be RAM stick #1), and run Memtest86 again, for 7 passes.*Be sure to note the RAM stick, use a piece of tape with a number, and note the motherboard slot.
If this stick passes the test then go to step #3.

2. If RAM stick #1 has errors, repeat the test with RAM stick #2 in the same motherboard slot.*If RAM stick #2 passes, this indicates that RAM stick #1 may be bad. If you want to be absolutely sure, re-test RAM stick #1 in another known good slot.
*If RAM stick #2 has errors, this indicates another possible bad RAM stick, a possible motherboard slot failure or inadequate settings.
3. Test the next stick of RAM (stick #2) in the next motherboard slot.*If this RAM stick has errors repeat step #2 using a known good stick if possible, or another stick.
*If this RAM stick has no errors and both sticks failed in slot#1, test RAM stick #1 in this slot.

Like it says in the title most of my BSOD are coming when I'm gaming. Some of my BSOD I noticed were hardware faults I'm just not sure if that's because the hardware is failing or because something isn't running properly.

A:Frequent BSOD playing Star Wars:The Old Republic

A couple of things come to mind after looking through your system info and crash dumps, most of your BSODs are likely being caused by a driver malfunctioning however It does not really point tow which one on that note I would like you to enable Driver Verifier by following this tutorial:

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Warning: If, once Driver Verifier is enabled, you can not boot into windows restart in safe mode, by tapping f8 while the computer is booting and then selecting safe mode from the text menu, and disable driver verifier from safe mode. then once you have the new crash dumps post them here the same way you posted the old ones.

Also I noticed you had Daemon Tools installed, this had been known to cause BSODs so uninstalling it would be good if only to rule it out. once you have uninstalled Daemon tools download and run this tool, if when the tool is run the uninstall button is greyed out daemon tools has uninstalled properly. If you need a tool for mounting .ISO files try Magic Disc

my last thought is your anti-virus, try uninstalling Norton with the Norton uninstall tool which can be downloaded here and replacing it with MSE - Microsoft Security Essentials.

I have come here quite often to figure out problems, but this the first time I've needed to create a profile to seek help.

As the title states this issue has only happened while Star Citizen is updating and applying patches. I've recreated the issue twice. I ran sfc /scannow three times which none of them detected any errors. I also have ran memtest a few months back for several passes which also detected zero errors. I have ran Intel burn test for over 10 passes without issue. I have ran chkdsk multiple times on both my ssd where my os resides and my raid for storage without errors.

I believe I have all the necessary files within the zip both the dumps and texts files. Any assistance will be appreciated.

Anyhow, i usually see this happen while im playing games that require a certain amount of load on my system: Doom, Star citizen, Civilization 5.

However, i have gotten it while using microsoft media creation tool to reinstall windows.

I would also like to mention that i had this issue even back in windows 7, i upgraded to windows 10 to hopefully fix it, at which point it stopped happening in civilization 5 which was great but now im back in the same boat with doom.

I decided to install LEGO Star Wars on my vista and try to fix the problem with it crashing when I try to start it up. But this time, I got something so unexpected, and something utterly terrifying (Yes, I value my computer so much).

I tried to change the screen resolution on the game to the highest possible (1660xsomething) and the game minimized and the "LEGO Star Wars has stopped working" message came up. Since I couldn't see my cursor, I hit the spacebar to click "Close Program".

After that, the BSOD flashed on and told me I got a "bad header" or something, I can't excactly remember. It was there for like 2 seconds and then the computer restarted itself. It didn't boot, so I flicked off the power switch and turned it back on and now everything is back to normal.

I tried running the program again and this time it just crashed when the menu appeared. Nothing happened after that. This has always happened whenever I tried to start the game.

I also tried going through the Program Compatibility Wizard and ran it in XP Service Pack 2, but for some reason the computer restarted itself again.

EDIT: BSOD report and health check are attatched.

Is Vista . . .
- x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? 32-bit
- the original installed OS on the system? Yes.
- an OEM or full retail version? OEM.
- What is the age of system (hardware)? About 5 years.
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) About 5 years too, and no.

I had an issue about three weeks ago that was similar to this. I looked at some similar threads, deleted some superfluous files, changed Startup to only include Antivirus, cleaned out the inside of the system, updated drivers, etc. It ran fine for about two weeks, but the BSOD's started again this morning. I have run Malwarebytes and Windows Security Essentials and they found no issues. Among the errors I've been getting are BAD_POOL_HEADER, SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, among others. I have attached the .zip file from the DM Log Collector.

Please let me know if there is any other information you require.

On an unrelated note, my network adapter (Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller) says it's driver is up to date, but it was released in 2009. When I check Realtek's website, it has newer drivers listed, but the version number is lower than my current one. Any idea what that's about?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Cyanide.

Your dump file suggests a problem with your memory and CCC.exe. To start with I'd like you to disable the Hydra-Vision Desktop Manager and see if that helps. If I understand it correctly the Catalyst Control Center, or CCC.exe is using too much RAM, hence the problems you are experiencing.

Give that a try and see if it helps.

Hello,

I have recently built a computer ( 2 days ago ) and have been having trouble when attempting to play the new game Star wars the old republic. After about 5 minutes my system crashes and restarts instantly to the same prompt when you force a shut down or lose power. All indications pointed me at hardware so I bench marked and stress tested but found no issues and no overheating of my Graphics card or CPU. after searching forum posts and what not the only thing I have found is I am getting Event log entries for Critical errors relating to kernel Power. I have replaced my Graphics card and wiped my hard drive and re-installed all drivers up to do date and windows several times to no avail. This issue only seems to happen when running that game other than that my computer performs beautifully and usually loads windows before the loading animation has even finished. The only things I have install are development tools ( Visual Studio 2010 pro, SQL Server 2008 r2 Express ) Star wars The Old Republic, and a few monitoring applications to check temps and loads. If you could please help point me in the right direction as to if / what is causing this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

My system specs are as follows:
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 ( Retail ? it was download edition image from Microsoft )
It is the only OS I have installed on this computer

The hardware is all brand new
Currently the OS installation is only 2 days old.

- Update the SSD's firmware to the latest available version (VERY IMPORTANT!!!)
- Slow the memory (RAM) down to the next slower speed (I've only seen one person who claimed that this worked for them).
- Use any manufacturer's utilities that you may have. If you don't have any, then try this free one (I haven't used it myself): Crystal Dew World
- Update chipset and storage controller drivers to the latest available from the manufacturer of the device (not the manufacturer of the motherboard). Be sure to update ALL controllers on the motherboard!
....NOTE: Recently (Nov 2011) we had BSOD issues with the Marvell 91xx controller and an SSD. You may have to switch controllers also.-
Replace the SSD with a platter based hard drive and see if that stops the BSOD's. If it does, then it's likely that there's a problem with the SSD OR an... Read more

Hey everyone!

For the past few weeks that I've been playing Star Wars: The Old Republic, I've been getting BSOD's every time I play. I've noticed that it only happens when I'm playing SWToR. I tried to fix the error by reformatting my computer, which didn't help. I've run memtests, switching the RAM cards around, etc., again to no avail. Any information you guys could give me would be great, I'm really getting to my wits end here.

Thank you!

These crashes were caused by memory corruption (probably a driver). Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.

1-Memtest.

*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Any errors are indicative of a memory problem.

If a known good stick fails in a motherboard slot it is probably the slot.

2-Driver verifier

Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

I'd suggest that you first backup your data and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup R... Read more

Hello.I came home from work today and noticed that my computer was running much slower than normal. I noticed a new shortcut on the desktop and asked my son what it was.He had installed a game called Shaiya earlier in the day. A program called GameGuard was also automatically installed with the game. After looking into both of these subjects it seems that the GameGuard program is problematic for many people and I am now assuming that it is what has made the sudden change in my computers speed. It also seems that uninstalling the programs is difficult and involves manually modifying registry items. I am not comfortable doing this and I am posting this topic to get some professional help. The only other info in this forum I could find on this topic mentioned needing to post a HJT log so that is what I am doing here.Below I have pasted the following txt files per the instructions in the forum intro. Anyways they've jsut recently upgraded gameguard because of some bugs etc, and ever since over 70% of gunz players have been experiencing FPS lag. now heres the link of the gunzfactor forum. its just to give u an overview of the main program, (already linked to the main thread about it) and everyone has already mention that it isn't the CPU of video card its something with the gameguard anti-virus, but maybe you guys might know?

This is a heads up for anyone playing games that run Gameguard, such as Maplestory Mabinogi or Gunbound.
For anyone who read my thread a few days ago, my computer was crashing during gameplay of a few games, Maplestory most notably. The probably was diagnosed as and agreed apon by the responses as a Graphics Card overheat error, which concerned me as it hasn't happened before. I may now have found the problem, to which I would like to inform my fellow gamers.

The problem started when my girlfriend's brand new computer started having the same issue last night out of the blue. I decided to scour the web for possible problems with the game. I found a thread somewhere describing an error with gameguard BSODing when there was a critical error in the program. Doing more homework, I found out that gameguard's error handler is tied right into the kernal process of windows and activated a BSOD instead of crashing just the game. Wondering what could have possibly done that, I decided to check gameguard's website WHEN I remembered: I have other gameguard games.

I uninstalled them all(including maplestory) did a system search for gameguard anything and manually deleted it. Ran CCleaner to get rid of leftover files(probably was unneccesary). Redownloaded Maplestory and ran the program. It's been running(and still is) error free for the last hour and a half(twice as long as I've made it in the last 3 weeks). I was gonna try it on my girlfriend's compute... Read more

rakion loads up the nprotect/gameguard then acts like its going to start but i get no screen or anything.then when i try to run it again it says "the game is overlapped,or gamegaurd is already in execution. Please try again after you terminate the game" or this "this is game guard initilization error.please try again after you re-boot or close any other program that may be coliding" well ive checked and the game isnt running, and no processes of the game or gameguard are running, and i also cant find anything that would colide with it.. some people said it might be spyware of some sort, but i scanned with 3 different programs and im clean according to them.

As of yesterday any games that have Game Guard do not work. They all give me error message 114.

The games I play with gameguard are Grand Chase and Gunz. I have contacted my ISP, Dell and the game providers via help desk. My ISP and Dell said it was the game, Gunz said it was my computer, I haven't recieved a response from Grand Chase.

Now, I have tried all solutions I have found on the internet. I do not have a firewall. Nothing has changed since the day before yesterday on my computer. It happened over night basically, when my computer wasn't even on.

I do have AVG anti-virus, however that NEVER caused this before. I've been playing this games along side AVG for a long time. I even have AVG disabled when I play, it still doesn't work.
It is really frustrating me, and honestly I am really tempted to throw this computer out my door.

i dunno....maybe you have a file on your computer it doesn't like.....try scanning your computer for viruses......if you have a file that may look like a virus, as several hacks do so, sometimes anti-cheat systems will cut you off.

or you may have an external process it may not like...

i really don't know otherwise...
uninstall...
manually make sure all lthe files are deleted
and reinstall

Hi hi.So I play ijji's Gunz: The Duel. I tried playing Exteel (both of which games use Nprotect GameGuard). Exteel's gameguard would always come up with an error message, and as such, I couldn't play the game. So I gave up on it, and went back to Gunz. It seems the Gunz gameguard was overwritten with the Exteel gameguard, as the same error message now occured whenever I tried to play Gunz.So I uninstalled Exteel, reinstalled Gunz, deleted GameGuard, only to find that GameGuard is, in fact, a rootkit, and all that technical stuff is beyond me.So I deleted the GameGuard that installs with Gunz, knowing that upon trying to play the game, it would re-download and reinstall (with the hopes of re-overwriting Exteel's gameguard), but it came up with an error message saying:"GameGuard initialization error. Ok, so I go into any game with nProtect GameGuard (FlyFF, ijji Gunz) and I get the same two errors when GameGuard tries to Authenticate.

"Program Error
GameMon.des.exe has generated errors and will be closed by
Windows. You will need to restart the program
An error log is being created."

"GameGuard execute error : 114
GameGuard initialization error. Try rebooting and executing the game or close the program considered to cause a collision."

Now of course the first thing I do is restart the program, then reboot and try again, after that didn't work I closed all other applications that I could, when that failed I looked around and found out it could be a virus, used Spy Sweeper and cleared 3 trojans that AVG didn't know existed, and I still get the errors when I try to start the game.

My drivers are up to date, I've turned off my Anti-virus, I've remade accounts, and yet it still doesn't run.

I've played before, so I know the games work, but here are my specs anyways.

Hi!

I am new here and I have a problem. I have recently installed Cabal Online and after playing it I noticed something was not right. After trying to find a solution I have decided to uninstall the game and forget about it but then I found out on the internet that GameGuard, which this game uses, is a rootkit and thus a threat to my and my computer's security. I read you have to manually remove it from the computer so I followed some instructions. I deleted the GameGuard folder after uninstalling the game and I also found npptnt2.dll and nppt9x.vxd files but I can't find the place in registry all those people on the internet mentioned. Is it possible that there is nothing left of GameGuard? How big a threat is GameGuard really? Can you please help or give information or something? You would make a guy's life easyer

Hello,

A couple of weeks ago, I installed wolfteam on my computer, started playing and when I finish playing and get back to the desktop, I cannot open any programs anymore, cannot open my computer or anything. When I double click icons, nothing happens.

I thought it was the game, so I uninstalled and reinstalled with the same problem.

Yesterday, I downloaded 2 new games, Huxley and Pandora saga, both games and wolfteam all come with gameguard. And all these games now do the same thing when I close them. So I guess the problem was not with wolfteam, but rather with gameguard, maybe I'm just jumping to conclusions...

I have over 50 games installed on my computer, online and single player games, and the only 3 games that use gameguard give me this problem.

I did not try uninstalling gameguard and reinstalling because im not sure if I would have to redownload and reinstall the whole games by doing that, Huxley is 4GB, I do not want to redownload if not necessary.

So to repeat myself, the problem is that I cannot open any programs, or windows or do anything anymore on my computer after I close the games. My desktop is there, everything is normal, I can open the start menu, but that's about it.

I tried to attach my Dxdiag file, but it wouldn't let me, so let me know what info you need on my computer other than what I will give...

Ok so i was playing this game called 2moons for about a month it was awesome and i got addicted to it. its kinda like WOW but free. so anyway, one i clicked the launcher and it did nothing for awhile then a error poped up and said connection error. i was like ok w/e and tried again the same thing happened. so i decided to just play a different game. and i tried to log into it (Gunz Online hosted by ijji.com) and it came up with a connection error as well it said "Gameguard execute error 380 failed to connect to gameguard update server. please try again later or check personal firewall settings" so i tried again later (1.5 weeks now) and im still getting that message. i did some research on this to try and fix the problem all the sites i went to said to turn off my firewall while playing the game so i turned it off and i still get the same msg. they also said to delete gameguard and when u run the game again it will update it and ull b fine. that also didnt work. I would be really really greatful if some1 knew how to fix this and tell me. thanks!

So any idea what would these programs be that conflict with game guard?

A:Windows 8 Gameguard Error

I am assuming Game Guard is anti-cheat software for the game just like S4 League's xtrap.

It is dangerous to allow the whole drive and I recommend you undo that. The bad news you can't do anything until they update Game Guard to work with Windows 8

Similar case happen with xtrap and within a month they updated to allow Windows 8.

I am assuming and I don't know Game Guard is thinking your cheating because it only checks the approve OS in its definitions list and windows 8 is not on it.

You can probably sent a email to the company or post on their forums or send a ticket to get them to make a small update to add Windows 8 as a approve OS

I think the actual game runs fine if it ran in Windows 7 just the anti-cheat software needs a update.

I am sick and tired of this worthless security software. I used to play Mabinogi, a Korean MMO from Nexon, and of course they use that infernal GameGuard BS. Fool that I was, I tolerated its presence since I liked the game more than most. Well, trust me, I paid for it. Who knows how much it has altered the registry.

Worse, it has disabled my keyboard! I use Vista and a Logitech Wave Keyboard. Once in a while, Mabinogi fails to load up and I see a white screen instead of the title. My mouse works but my keyboard is disabled and I have to do a hard reboot. Upon reboot, it still doesn't work. I switch the USB to another port... voila, it works. But it will never work for that previous port again!

I didn't suspect anything until it happened a second time. Now I have two ports on my PC that refuse to work with my keyboard. Any other device works fine, just not the keyboard. This is BS of the highest degree.

I can only guess that it has modified my registry in some way, but I don't even know where to begin. Can anyone help me recover the use of my two USB ports for the keyboard?

A:GameGuard killing my keyboard and USB

I've since uninstalled Mabinogi, deleted the GameGuard folder, deleted the two hidden files it inserted into my system folder and deleted a registry key to no avail. Someone has suggested that GameGuard is using an "input hook", which I've never heard of.

Well, this computer is about 2 weeks old, and whenever i try to play games that use gameguard, gameguard gets to the point were it exits, and the game is supposed to load up, but when gameguard exits, my computer freezes up, completely, i cant do anything on it, i have to manually re-boot it using the power button. ~_~

Hi I'm not sure if this should be posted in the games section, but it seems more like a virus is causing an issue in this case.

When I run Iris online, a new mmorpg which uses gameguard hack protection, nothing else but the game can connect to the internet. Prior to gameguard loading I can use either browser (IE or firefox) and they work absolutely fine.

However this all stops after I load the game, yet I can still connect to the game and it runs, but nothing else can connect to the internet despite being able to ping websites and that works and the internet says it is connected but never loads a page.

One or two times however I could run the browser and load sites fine whilst playing Iris and gameguard was running then too, but these times are rare and often when i close the game, the browsers stop working.

This only happens on this one game using gameguard, other times in the past playing other mmos with the same hack protection it worked fine. A simple way to fix this would be to stop playing the game, but it's a really fun game! Also another reason why I'm concerned and want to get to the bottom of this issue is no one else i spoke to on the game has this problem so it must be something wrong with my computer which I would like to fix.

I have avg spybot ad-aware malwarebytes webroot spy sweeper and have scanned my pc a few times and found nothing that could be causing this. If it is a network problem I would like some help figuring out how to fix it to... Read more

I'm posting here because I'm not getting any response on the Virus Malware board. I play an online game from GamesCampus, and I had to install Gameguard. I constantly get error messages from AVG.
avwsc.exe encountered a problem and needs to close
Exception in modul AVGNT.EXE
I turned off Avira while I play this game, but I still get booted out of a game all of a sudden, with error messages from Gameguard. I tried several solutions from gameguard and nothing seems to correct this problem. Initially I thought I had a virus, which I still don't know. Then I thought it may be a conflict with my antivirus. Now I am so frustrated and don't know where to turn to figure this out. My girlfriend has the same set up as me, Avira free, and gameguard, and she plays the same game but has never had this problem. The only difference is she has ZoneAlarm firewall, and I'm using Wins firewall.

I am attaching the DxDiag report.
Thank you I hope someone can help.

Hello All,

I've been getting consistent BSODs while trying to start Windows Virtual PC (not Microsoft Virtual PC 2007) machines on my computer. I've tried various driver updates and a bios update and several system restores along the way, but to no avail. In the attached dump files, the last two crashes are from trying to start virtual machines, the most recent one is when I try to start a newly created vmcx, and the one before it is when I try to start/create the windows xp mode virtual machine. The errors are very consistent and happen every time at the exact same time. My setup:

Windows 7 Professional x64
i5-2500k CPU
ASROCK P67 Extreme4 with Bios v2.1
2x4GB RAM
c300 solid state 128MB OS drive
1TB samsung spinpoint data drive
ATI Radeon 4800 graphics card

I've never tried posting to a forum before, but I'm at my wit's end on this one and the people here seem to be quite knowledgeable and helpful. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

Im 19 years old, i live in massachussetts, and im fairly good managing a computer.
Recently, ive been having this problem with GameGuard. Gameguard is a program used to prevent hacking, using 3rd party programs in a game etc. Ive downloaded 2 different kinds of games that have gameguard. the first is darkeden. Darkeden is a low memory, not very good graphics kind of game. Im running a Dell pent4 2.66ghz 512 ram Nvidea GeForce FX 4200 - 128. Whenever i try and start this game, after Nguard runs, it brings me to a blue screen of death, every time. It gives me the error 0x0000008e. This is supposedly a graphical error. maybe hardware isnt installed properly and whatnot. Ive tried a lot of different things to try and correct this problem. Ive come to the conclusion it is not my graphics card. Ive reinstalled the driver.. updated .. everything. Now lets move on... bear w/ me for a second. I also play another game called Lineage 2 w/ a few buddies on a private server. This game puts my graphic driver to its limits. Still runable tho.... Now letss move onto the other game. The other game is called Silkroad Online. I just downloaded this game and found that it has Nguard on it. This game also gives me the same error. If i can run a game that creates much more graphics, why wouldnt i be able to play this. Ive come to that maybe theres something wrong with some other part of my computer... I think the gameguard error is also associated with the rootkit avg found but cannot remove. The rootkit changes name when I restart my computer. Also if any of you have an idea about the gameguard error: default setup error, close programs that confilct or restart the computer.

So after not playing for awhile I decided to redownload everything and after that I got a problem.

(Excluding the fact DC is now owned by GC and my lvl 50 account was deleted >.>)

After you press play and it goes through Nguard and does it's normal installation of files as soon as that opens windows 7 comes up with the error you usally get when application stops working.

"Nguard Game Launcher has stopped working, Attempting to fix and find solutions"

It does not do this anymore but it does come up with the image I have said with the error 3221225477.

Just to inform some of you who do not know what NGuard/GameGuard is, it is a game protection application that is ran to PREVENT hacking the game so it's not the game that doesn't work it's the NGuard/GameGuard that is not updating or causing something to stop. Again this is something that's force-runned via game start this is the problem I am having not with Drift City the game.

Now I don't know whether Windows is stopping it or it's not updating properly I'm not sure.

Something in Windows 7 is causing the program to stop processing.. Has anyone else had this same problem specifically and fixed it?

P.S (Checked Nguard Stickies for this and didn't find the error discussed correct me if I'm wrong)

I'd really like to play this again but this is stopping me from playing..

Until this is fixed I can't play DC or GUNZ

Hi normally my internet works fine, that is I can connect to pages and they load without trouble in both firefox and internet explorer or anything else that uses the internet.

However, I recently downloaded a new game called IRIS online which uses a hack protection called gameguard which apparently acts like a rootkit.

Now whenever I run the game, it will connect to the game but restricts anything else that uses the internet from working. So when the game is running, I can ping sites and still get a response as the internet is still connected, but pages never load in internet explorer or firefox until I reboot the computer.

A reboot fixes it and there is nothing else that is wrong with my connection (afaik) other than that when gameguard runs, nothing else wants to work.

Apparently other people are fine with gameguard and it doesn't affect them at all so I'm looking for some help as to why it stops my internet from working!

If anyone could help I'd greatly appreciate it thanks

Hey guys, always when I play a game which GameGuard has been put to prevent hacks, it always comes up with this Windows Host Process Error. When GameGuard launches, an error pops up and says "Host process has stopped working and will close". The game still works but I'm wondering if this is a problem. It seems nothing is affected by this error, however I would still like to get rid of it because it basically spams my event log with a bunch of error logs. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium.

Hello and welcome Galore mate some system specs would be really helpful - very hard working with something one knows very little about. System Info - See Your System Specs

However at first look seems like the system is in a mess or the hard drive or other components are going south.

Now just do this if you get a boot then it might narrow the issue/s down a little and you will need toake the bootable disk on another machine.
BOOTABLE UBUNTU
Make a bootable Ubuntu disk Download Ubuntu Desktop | Download | Ubuntu
Set the BIOS to boot from the optical when the machine boots it will show you a screen with TRY or INSTALL > select TRY not INSTALL
When it is finished - it takes very little time you will get a screen like in the pic .
Open the drive you want > User and dig down until you get to the data / settings you may be able to copy / paste the material you want to an external source or other installed drive doing this.
I am not sure if it will but I have recovered tons of data etc using this method both on "dead" or just plain drives that you cannot get data from using Windows.

Just run it until you get the screen ignore the data stuff though it might come in handy later - if this will not boot then something is very wrong.

So we live in rural South Carolina where the high-speed Internet doesn't quite reach, so we're still on dial-up with AOL on the desktop PC at home. I don't tend to get on that computer much anymore because of the headache, but my mom has been online daily up until this week.

On Monday night, I used it for the first time in months to try to search for a particular email because it was easier than digging through my phone. In the short time that I was on, AOL froze twice and had to restart and reconnect. I assumed this was because the connection is terrible. My mom had no problems with it on Tuesday, but on Wednesday morning, AOL would freeze before the program would open and cause the whole desktop to freeze and have to be restarted.

In the past, we have had issues with upgrading AOL...some of the features it installs, like the dialer, are flagged as viruses by Windows and cause it to malfunction and keep us from getting online. In those cases, we've had to uninstall AOL and reinstall 9.0 from a disk, as this is the last version that worked well with Vista. So after my mom restarted twice, she assumed that was the problem and tried to reinstall.

Now what we're seeing is that AOL reinstalls fine, but when it gets to the point where it actually tries to bring us online to sign in, it crashes and gives us a BSOD error. When it restarts, the error is showing as 000007e, I think (I'm on a work PC and I left the info written down at home). We're encountering the same problem on... Read more

A:BSOD when starting up

Hi ArmenMM.

Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall Daemon Tools at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :
Double click to open it.
Click this button only:

If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.
Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.
Click on the Start button
Type ?msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the ?Startup? tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus and the keyboard driver.
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.
Let us know the results.

Pls help, my computer have been getting BSODs everytime i start it up. It would then restart itself and then work just fine, just with a highly reduced frame rate. The crash dump file provided didn't do much(at least to me).

I have already tried reinstalling the display driver, the OS. None of which have solved the problem.

My operating system is windows 7,64 bit. Video card is the ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series. That is all i know for my computer.

Pls reply asap, your help will be appreciated.

Probably not related but older networking drivers tend to act up in the strangest ways
netr28ux.sys from 2009 Ralink RT2870 series USB802.11n Wireless Adapter Driver (you may have a different manufacturer) Ralink-A MEDIATEK COMPANY
And the wired adapter Rt64win7.sys also from 2009
Realtek RTL8168D/8111D Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC Realtek

Video TDR (Timeout Detection and Recovery) errors can be software or hardware related, since it appears you have already tried a couple of video driver versions lets have a look at the temps and voltages .
D/L and run Hardware Monitor do something intense like a virus scan or gaming for a bit, Alt+Tab back to HWM expand all the trees and use the Win7 snipping tool to grab a screen shot of the HWM window, post the screen shot using the paperclip button in the advanced message box(Go Advanced button).
