Kernel Inpage error

Q: Kernel Inpage error

Hi, a couple of days ago I installed a file downloader. Since yesterday if I try to copy/rar/transfer some specific subfolders in the downloaded file directory my pc crashes with the kernel inpage error. Maybe is caused by the overloaded Hdd but it's from about two years that I have 3-4 GB free.
Thanks in advance

A: Kernel Inpage error

Kernel data inpage error = stop 0x7A.

The zip you uploaded does not contain any crash dump.

Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Dont run any disc cleanup program before you upload another zip.

I have a rather perplexing issue with a PC.

For the last week we were unable to get past the boot screen. I could run the PC in safe mode and was able to backup the files. I then restored the system back to 11/1/06 and did a repair on the windows install

Since then we have had the PC BSOD twice.

1st

0x00000077 (0xc000000E,0xc000000E,0x00000000,0x01A23000)

After this it failed to recognize the hard drives at all
We removed a stick of RAM and it worked again

2nd

0x00000077 (0xc0000185,0xc0000185,0x00000000,0x008B4000)

I'm sure that this isn't enough to solve the problem but if you could tell me what information is needed i'll do my best to get it to you.

Thank you for your help.

My Laptop ACER 4741G
Worked perfectly, Recently updated to Win 8 64 Bit Professional Version after that it's getting BSOD with kernel inpage error Please Check and let me know the fixes

A:kernel inpage error

There aren't any memory dump files included in the upload.
When does the BSOD happen? During the boot process or during the shutdown?
There aren't any signs of BSOD's in the WER section of MSINFO32 either - but there are Live Kernel Event (sometimes these are records of unexplained shutdows).

Please do this:

Upload Dump Files:
NOTE: If using a disk cleaning utility, please stop using it while we are troubleshooting your issues.
Please go to C:\Windows\Minidump and zip up the contents of the folder. Then upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
Left click on the first minidump file.
Hold down the "Shift" key and left click on the last minidump file.
Right click on the blue highlighted area and select "Send to"
Select "Compressed (zipped) folder" and note where the folder is saved.
Upload that .zip file with your next post.

If you have issues with "Access Denied" errors, try copying the files to your desktop and zipping them up from there. If it still won't let you zip them up, post back for further advice.

If you don't have anything in that folder, please check in C:\Windows for a file named MEMORY.DMP. If you find it, zip it up and upload it to a free file hosting service. Then post the link to it in your topic so that we can download it.

Also, search your entire hard drive for files ending in .dmp, .mdmp, and .hdmp. Zip up any that you find and upload them with your next post.

I have a 2001 Dell desktop with a pentium 4, with 1.5 Ghz and 128 MB RAM.

I bought it with windows ME but upgraded to XP 6 months ago.
I thought my problems were due to ME, but the problems have continued since my upgrade.

MY PROBLEMS:

1. Very slow start up, sometimes up to 10 minutes!

2. Very frequent blue screen and crash at start up and other times. Perhaps one out of every five times I use my computer. The error at crash seems to be, "Kernel inpage error" - but it varies.

3. Online speed is inconsistently slow even though I have a cable modem.

4. My computer is unable to handle multi tasking, such as listening to music while surfing the web, or opening more than one application.

5. In general, performance is very slow and unstable.

Any feedback or suggestions for improving my computer will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. David

A:Kernel Inpage Error?

It might be worth testing the RAM and hard drive.

Here's a RAM tester: http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

Not sure what hard drive is in it but its a good chance it might be a Maxtor drive: http://www.maxtor.com/en/support/downloads/powermax.htm (it might work on your drive even if its not a Maxtor drive. backup any critical info before ruunning.

Also, if you used a Windows XP upgrade you could have just transfered any software problems from ME to XP. These problems could be Windows problems, a virus, or spyware.

Try doing an online virus scan and download, update, and run Adaware. You want to fix any problems it finds.

Ok here is my problem. I recently build a new computer. I have an ASUS mobo, 3 hard drives 80GB(C, 200GB(D, and 200GB(E. C drive is just for windows and apps installed. The other two is for storage. I have 1.25Gb of RAM. One stick is 512Mb PC3200. One stick is 512Mb PC2700 and the third stick is 256Mb (PC2100). As you can see I build a system with what I had. I know it will only run at 133MHz. Anyway, I loaded winXP Pro updated to SP2 and then started getting BSOD. It tells me Kernel_Stack_Inpage_Error. I just installed XP from a formatted hard drive so I don't think I have a virus in a boot sector. I have all my mobo bios settings to auto or default. No overclocking or memory turbo boost. I have ran hijack this and this is the log that wa created. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks for looking.

For the last several days I have been receiving the dreaded blue screen on my laptop with the Kernel Data Inpage Error message. It has occured probably once a day for the last 4 days. After it occured the first time I completed a Windows Update of the Service Pack 3. I run the AVG 8.5 Free scan every day as well as check for the updates. For the last three days the history shows that the scan log is corrupted and that the scan has not finished properly. This has happend occasionaly in the past put not repetitively. I tried to run Ad-Aware and partially through it running I received the blue screen. I just tried to google Malware Bytes to download and while it was searching for the site it happened again. I use Windows XP. The technical information I received with the blue screen was as follows:

Stop: 0x0000007A (0xc07B9c10, 0xc0000185, 0xF7382D37, 0x3437A860)

darn... I have been getting this crash message a LOT. This problem has been happening to me for the last year or so, but now its gotten to the point where it happens at least twice a day.......it seems like whenever i leave my comp. idle for more then an 45 mins, this happens.........also, whenever this happens, when i try to reboot the computer (after seeing the blue screen) i get that message saying "no primary or bootable hard disk found", and literally have to turn the computer off and on about 3 or 4 times for it to finally recognize my hard drvie......

do u think thats the cause and it needs to be replaced?

btw...my comp. is a dell inspiron 8500

Rather sounds like either an overheating issue, a corrupt drive, or both.

Sometimes vents and fans need to be cleaned on laptops just like desktops.

General discussion of the type error:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=315266&sd=RMVP

You might want to run chkdsk on the drive, or see if Dell has some diagnostic software you can run.

This looks like what Dell has to offer:

I'll start off by saying that any attempt I've made at changing settings in order for the BSoD to give me a minidump has been a failure. Any time the BSoD comes up, the error report gets stuck at 0% indefinitely.

This error has been popping up daily for a little over a week now, right after I upgraded my GPU, CPU, and CPU fan. The error does not appear to have any triggers as it happens either when the PC is under load or when it is idle with no programs open. I've monitored temps to make sure the CPU fan was correctly installed and the CPU never goes beyond 40C.

I've run Chkdsk which resulted in no errors.
I've run windows memory diagnostics which resulted no errors.
I've run sfc /scannow which found an errors that it could not automatically fix. I do not know how to find the error in the log file.

A:Kernel data inpage error

Give this a try. The file was created by kronckew, one of our colleagues. Tested it on my Laptop, and it worked!

Boot to Safe Mode.

Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt
Right-click the Command Prompt, and select: Run as Administrator

At the Command Prompt, copy/paste (with the mouse) the following text inside the code box below, and press: Enter

Code:

@echo off
rem delete old files
del /q %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log
del /q c:\sfcdetails.txt
rem run sfc
sfc /scannow
rem filter out non essential junk from the cbs.log
findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >c:\sfcdetails.txt
rem open details in notepad
notepad c:\sfcdetails.txt
rem optional command to shut down & restart pc after running. this may be needed if
rem sfc replaces some critical files. uncomment (remove the 'rem') to activate.
rem shutdown -r
exit

When sfc is done, a file named sfcdetails.txt appears.
Please save the sfcdetails.txt file to the Desktop, and post it in your reply.

To run the program a second time, open the Command Prompt, right-click and select: Run as Administrator

This time, type in the following:

Code:
sfc /scannow
Press: Enter

When done, a file named sfcdetails.txt appears once again.

Please save the file to the Desktop, as sfcdetails2.txt, and post it in your reply.

Only 1 Windows updates installed ensure that you haveALL Windows Updates. Most Windows 8.1 system have around 55 or more updates onaverage). Please also install the windows 8.1 update 1. (KB 2919355 ). This Windows 8.1 Update and Windows RT 8.1Update also include security and performance updates, and they must beinstalled for your PC to receive any future security updates for Windows 8.1 or Windows RT 8.1.
Your BIOSdates from 2011. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there areany BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to seeif they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised thatflashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake canphysically damage your motherboard.

Due to the age of the system, it's possible that it's not compatible withWindows 8.1 - you may have to consider moving back to Windows 8 or even Win7 inorder to get acceptable performance.
Also you have only 2 gb of memory installed, this is probably the minimum memory what your system needs for windows 8.1 self.

Been having a look thru the forum recently, read a few people with the same problems` topics but going to start my own.
had this problem now for a couple of weeks, just randomly happens!

Not sure what specs you need but the basics:
OS:Windows 7
2.00GB RAM
HP Presario CQ61 Notebook

attached 5 most recent minidumps.. havent got a clue what could be causing it myself! tried updating drivers to no avail.
usually stays on for about 20-25 mins before crashing, everytime i try to go on the laptop normal..works alright in safe mode tho

A:Kernel inpage data error

Although the KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR error cited in all but one dumps points at varying issues. In this case as the second parameter is cx185 it is a pretty reasonable indication that your hard drive may be faling or HDD data cable may have some issues, although the latter is less likely to be the case. I would suggest you to check the make/model of your HDD through Device Manager, then go to the site of its manufacturer and download HDD diagnostic tool to thoroughly check it.

Hi, I've been getting kernel data inpage error recently. It doesn't seem to matter what I am doing at the moment when it comes but usually it is preceded by a long period of freezing. My computer has been experiencing small freezes occasionally and when i attempt to use a defragmenter, it always results in freezing at a certain percentage and may be followed by the error. Also, if you ask me for info and such it would be helpful to include how i would do so because i am very inexperienced in this. Thank you.

my system is configured as SSD is the main boot drive for Windows and everything else (program files etc...) is redirected to the E: drive which is my RAID0.

I then had the same problem about 2 weeks ago. And now I have just seen it happen properly:

what does this mean? how can I identify what is exactly the problem?

So here is my story I decided I decided to update from windows 7 to windows 8.1 however now I often get the blue screen of death with the warning of kernel_data_inpage_error. I already tried doing a fresh of instal of windows several times and that didn't help at all, usually keeps the windows stable for about a week or two at max. I have already done a hard drive check up so i know it isn't the hard drive. So you might think the next logical thing to check is either the ram or mother board however I don't think it's a hardware fault because the error usually happens when I am watching flash content or when flash ads appear. Mostly happens when watching stuff on YouTube and twitch, usually sometimes the computer starts lagging or even becomes unresponsive for a few minutes. Funny thing if I play games on it and push it to the max I don't get any errors at all.

Any advice?

I have a dell Inspiron 1520 with a very basic Windows xp home edition setup. My computer crashed, and would not boot the OS at all.

I took it to a local tech, he said it needed to be reformatted and was going to charge $250. I could not afford it so I used an old cd (re-installation cd, Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition including Service Pack 1a) to re-install an OS. I deleted the partition, losing all of my files, and reformatted it myself. I'm not an expert, I really don't understand entirely what I did. However, I am not a newbie either (just throwing that out there).

So I used the cd install the OS, and another cd (Dell Drivers and Utilities for reinstalling Dell Inspiron 1520). I believe this worked, but I have the most basic OS I have ever seen.

Anyway, my problem is, I am trying to upgrade my service pack from 1a to 3, or even to 2,doesn't really matter. I keep getting the windows blue screen. kernel_data_inpage_error and win32k.sys (I don't have the error word for word, but that's the most important part.)

What do I do? Should I just scrap my hard drive and get a new one? I have wiped it clean and reformatted it a few times now, trying to fix it on my own, but that damn blue screen keeps popping up all the time. I have installed System Mechanic, and it has fixed some issues, but not all of them.

If any of this makes sense to anyone, help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Afternoon all,

It's a bit of a long story however I'm hopeful there's enough information within it for someone to offer their more expert opinion! For nearly a year I have been having problems with random BSOD's, which would commonly happen when online gaming but would also happen occasionally when using IExplorer, a registry cleaner or my anti-virus software. I'm using a tower with an AMD Athlon XP2800+ with 2.14Ghz and 1GB RAM that I "inherited" and had been trouble free for almost 2years, with my only investment being an upgrade to an ATI Radeon HD4600 1GB graphics card in February last year, that I managed to install without any major problems.

In May last year my CMOS battery died, and after replacing the battery it was at this point the BSOD's started to happen. At first they were quite regular, be it using IExplorer or during gaming...I would hear the dreaded "beep" and a few seconds later the screen would freeze and unleash the "kernel stack inpage error" notification. I was already a regular user of CCleaner but after consulting Dr Google, I downloaded a registry cleaner however both it and CCleaner along with my Sophos Anti-Virus would crash to the same BSOD when trying to scan through the Content.IE5 folder. After manually clearing out the offending folder, I reran all 3 programs and they would complete their scans successfully, but even that along with running CHKDSK /f /r did not solve the problem, as it would still crash ra... I've seen another page in this sites with the same problem, but i dont really understand it. I know only the basics of computer things, so i really hope you can explain it so even a novice can understand...
This was written on the screen:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR
If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow this steps:
Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any window updates you might need.

hi everyone.

my laptop has been crashing frequently since months ago. sometimes i get bluescreen (kernel data inpage error), sometimes it reboots automatically, and sometimes it freezes and the screen is filled with some grey/black weird horizontal lines and i have to reboot it.

i had reinstalled the windows a few times but the prob remains.

when i run in safe mode everything is fine.

also, everything is ok when i use battery, no reboot, bluescreen, etc...but the prob comes back once i plug in...seems like the prob only occurs when i use the power??

please tell me how can i solve this prob. it's really annoying! thx!

A:Kernel Data Inpage Error

I assume you're using Windows 7. The kernal data inpage error and running fine in safe mode make me think it is a driver problem. If you go into device manager (just search in start menu) and find Sound, video and game controllers and then let me know everything in that list. Usually by disabling one of these drivers your problem will be fixed for instance I have AMD High Definition Audio Device disabled - this solved my problem of the Blue screens.

(Edit: Sorry, if you couldn't tell that was suppose to be BSOD, not BOSD, sorry!)

Hello, um well like the topic says I've recently run into this blue screen of death with the words "Kernel Stack Inpage Error" (0X00000077, ETC, ETC).

While this is being the second time this week this has happen, I don't really know why this is happening, most likely from my own stupidity but I something more exact then that . Anyway, both of the times where the error has occurred it has been during when my McAfee Anti-Virus has been scanning my whole computer. I've already ran a chkdsk /f /r, and that seemed to fix it for a few days. Until about ten minutes ago, where it happened again during a McAfee Anti-Virus Scan. Now I'm not sure why its only happening from there, but from a scan from my Malware Ant-Bytes revealed there to be no viruses or anything, and after the first crash and the chkdsk /f /r, McAfee managed a full scan and revealed nothing as well. However, it has happened again, so I hope I'm not jumping the gun here by posting this, and thanks to the person who will hopefully be helping me ahead of time.

Also here's all the information that you guys require.

So, I get the blue screen of death every two hours-ish. This started happening ever since yesterday, when it was rebooting every two minutes, then I uninstalled everything I had installed last week and now it happens every two hours.

This is what I get shown:

So I started a new job recently, and I installed a new software for work. When I'm using the software at work, the computer seems fine. But when I reach home and just browse the web or running iTunes, the computer sometimes freezes and goes into the BSOD with a Kernel Data Inpage Error. I run anti-virus scans and registry cleaners often and they don't seem to be helping at all. Any and all help is appreciated!

A:Kernel Data Inpage Error

The usefulness of cleaning the registry is highly overrated and can be dangerous. In most cases, using a cleaner to remove obsolete, invalid, and erroneous entries does not affect system performance but it can result in "unpredictable results". Unless you have a particular problem that requires a registry edit to correct it, I would suggest you leave the registry alone. Using registry cleaning tools unnecessarily or incorrectly could lead to disastrous effects on your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again. For routine use, the benefits to your computer are negligible while the potential risks are great. What is the software that you installed? Please download BlueScreenViewNo installation required.Double click on BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program. When scanning is done, go Edit>Select All.Go File>Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.

If you wish to have others assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
* Briefly describe the problem history and circumstances in the same post. Somebody will attend to your query as soon as possible.

Thanks in advance!

I was using my computer and thought I might have heard a quick beep but nothing happened so I wasn't sure if I was just hearing things but then perhaps 5 minutes later I got a blue screen with a message saying my computer had to shut down and restart. It said I could get more information about why it was doing this ny checking on line for kernel_data_inpage_error (msrpc.sys).
I googled it and the first suggestion was to run a virus scan which I did and didn't have any viruses. It then suggested running chkdsk but I'm not really sure how to do that. Is that the next step I should be taking?

Hi guys,
I'm not that great at computers, I know the basics and am self taught with computers if it comes to difficulties.
I've got a G62 series HP laptop with windows 7 and have had it for only about 3 months and I've already had the bsod quite a few times. It seems to happen when i watch vids on youtube or iplayers and on fullscreen..I'm thinking it has something to do with the intel HD graphics card, not too sure. It's got the lowest rating on the system performance.
When watching some vids, i can tell when its going to crash; it stutters and makes a retriggering noise, and the blue screen appears, it says 'kernel_data_inpage_error' and i think it's stop 0x0000007A. it makes a loud retriggering noise whilst on the screen then goes to a black screen with the HP logo on. I have to manually restart it when it does this. The blue screen lasts only a few seconds so i cannot write it down but it pretty much says this:
a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage
to your computer.

kernel_data_inpage_error

if this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your
computer. if this screen appears again, follow these steps:

if this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufactuers

I also got this:

Hi -

KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR = bugcheck 0x7a ("BCCode" above).

Also listed is exception code 0xc0000185 = STATUS_IO_DEVICE_ERROR.

The BSOD is listing an I/O error with your HDD as the probable cause.

Assuming you have an HDD and not an SSD. . .

Run chkdsk /r

Run HDD diags - SeaTools for DOS, LONG test - http://www.techsupportforum.com/2828431-post7.html

Remmyzen

These crashes appear to have 5 different causes including ESET, video driver, etc. But when one looks closer they all point to the same thing memory corruption.

To test you memory
Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.
You also have drivers (including ESET) that are old and need to be updated. See the list below.

If you are overclocking stop
If you are running a RAID update its driver.

Let us know if this doesn't fix the problem.

Please do the following:

Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

I recommend creating a system restore point before turning on driver verifier:
System Restore Point - Create

If your system fails to boot to desktop once driver verifier is enabled, turn it off by booting into Safe Mode:
Safe Mode

Driver Verifier will cause your computer to run very sluggishly - this is normal. What it is trying to do is force your system to BSOD and isolate the offending driver/s. When it does, reboot, disable driver verifier, reboot as normal and upload the new dmp file/s here using these steps below:

1. Download the DM Log Collector application to your desktop by clicking the link below

DM Log Collector.exe

2. Run it by double-clicking the icon on your desktop, and follow the prompts.
3. Locate the .ZIP file that is created on your desktop, and upload it here in your next reply.

Hey. Been encountering this problem the past 2 days where I get the blue screen of death every hour or so. Upon restarting my screen goes into a weird white screen of death where I have to constantly reboot to get to the home screen and have a proper boot.

After an hour the problem returns.  I've done a chkdsk a few times and the problem hasn't be solved.

I did both malware bytes and sfc /scannow (which said some files were corrupted and couldn't be fxed). I uninstalled my video card driver and a few USB drivers just to see if that would fix things.

Yet another person with the same error I know. I've tried the suggestions in previous posts by other people and same thing. Even got it when i was installing windows on a new drive. I just bought a new board and processor never messed with any of the jumpers. Sometimes I can get it to run windows normal for a full night and other times it'll crash after a couple minutes after boot. Previous posts suggest that the problem is the hard drive, I dont think it is because i'm using the same hard drive on my old board right now and its fine. I also have problems getting the monitor to come on when i boot up, most of the time the hard drive is busy but i see nothing on the monitor. I'd appreciate any input that you guys could give, I dont want to take it in and have it looked at and pay if at all possible but that looks like the only thing to do unless I can solve it with your help.

Thanks

Hi all,

I am having trouble running Vista just about everyday. The screen freezes and after a variable time I get a blue screen. This is everything it says on the blue screen:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen then restart your computer. If this screen appears again then follow these steps.

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properlly installed. If this is a new installation ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need
if the problem continues disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as cacheing and shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to disable or remove components then restart your computer and press F8 and select advance options then safe mode.

Have you changed anything recently on your computer, i.e., hardware, software? Does it seem to happen when you are doing something in particular (like playing a game) or does it just happen randomly?

What are your system specs?

hey guys. i recently got a new laptop. installed the OS, installed the drivers, everything is working fine except:

the first time i turn the laptop on, it gives me the error "kernel_data_inpage_error", then it either turns itself off(at which point it works normally when i turn it back on) or restarts itself(which also makes it work normally)

here is a video of it happening:

i am sure you will need more info so please let me know how to give that to you.

Hey everyone, I need your help!

The other day I was working on my laptop, just watching some videos when all of the sudden the screen froze and then the blue screen of death shows up...
it said Kernel data inpage error, and left me no choice but to turn off the computer and restart. The next day everything was fine, nothing happened. A day later it happened again, twice. I started looking for answers and did some of the things people suggested:

chkdsk /r , it scanned and when finished said 'disk is clean' or something of the sort, so I thought okay, next on the list.

I noticed that a lot of the updates for windows update failed, so I did that, but noticed they failed once again. Did it again two more times, and no matter what I did, they failed. I thought I'd leave it at that and come back to it later, somehow.

Days later, the whole 'kernel data inpage error' hasn't shown up again. But what did happen was, all of a sudden, the screen went black and when it came back, windows graphics were kinda weird... 5 sec. later it went back to normal. It hasn't happened again, either.

I took my laptop to a tech. service center and all they said was that I needed to format the HD, which I don't want to do because last time I did that with my other laptop it all went to hell. This is a fairly new laptop (2 years), I take good care of it, so I really don't know what I could be doing wrong. The only problem I might have with it is- it... Read more

I am also facing the same error
As I am using my hard disk(160GB) from 4 years I found its health is 75% only by Hard disk sentinel software
Is there any relation between the hard disk health and Kernel Data inpage error,at the same time I am running two hard disks in parallel, the booting hard disk is 160GB and the other is 500GB which is recently brought.
My system information file is attached.

Thanking you!

A:Kernel data inpage error

Yes, a weak or failing hard drive can cause this problem. The older hard drives draw more power than the newer drives do. I imagine that that 160GB drive is older than 4 years now

Hello,

Over the past couple of months, I have been getting a "Kernel Data Inpage Error" every other day. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium Edition on a 2-year-old Asus N53SN laptop. The issue really started when I upgraded the RAM to 16GB (from the pre-installed 4GB). I have since returned the RAM and reinstalled the original RAM, but I am still getting the error. I believe the error code is 0x0000007A and the file is msrpc.sys. I have already run chkdsk c: /f /r, malwarebytes, spybot, and superantispyware, with minor finds. I have also "cleaned up" my PC as best I could (defrag, startup files, etc). Please advise.

Hi,
I have had problems with my 2 year old HP Pavilion g6 for a while now inculding freezes and hangs in particular when I install software.

But recently, my computer hanged for a really long time probably because of Windows 7 updates and would not even respond when booted.

So I had to clean install Windows 7, which is why I did. The problem is, even though it is on a lesser scale, I still experience hangs and freezes when installing software, but I have now this BSOD issue which is popping approximately once or twice a day.

It all points to harddrive/memory issues, but all the tests came out clean...

I already had to change my HDD once last year because it broke down too.

Any help would be much appreciated.

A:BSOD Kernel Data Inpage Error

Hi,

No DMP files attached in your output folder, so please see if they are available to attach manually:

Quote:

Please navigate to C:/Windows/Minidump and zip up any dump files located there that you'd like to have analyzed, and then attach that zip here. If there are no dumps located in C:/Windows/Minump, you may be writing full memory dumps to C:/Windows, and it'll be called MEMORY.DMP.

If there are no dumps in either of those locations, but you know you have a page file set up, any "cleaner" programs such as TuneUp Utilities, CCleaner, etc, will delete this upon use.

If you cannot get into normal mode, please do this via Safe Mode.

Moving onto the perfmon report for now though:

Quote:

The Security Center reports that Windows Update is disabled.

Why? Enable it and install any and all recommended / important updates you have not already installed.

Regards,

Patrick

Hello SevenForums,

I just registered to report this error I get continuosly from last couple days, seeking for help I saw this forum so hopefully you can help me.

I am now posting this in Safe Mode cause if I start Windows in regular mode I most likely going to get another freezing episode after 10-15 minutes.

Sometimes I get a BSOD and sometimes the computer just freezes and reboots, then I get a message saying "insert proper boot device" or something like that I dont remember the exact words used.
So when the 2nd scenario has occurred I then have to remove and reinsert the sata cable, I only have 1 HD, and forcebrute a reboot.
I've tried to run a System Health Report but I get a message saying "The system cannot find the path specified" so Im only attaching the Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2, also it is compressed with .rar sorry about that.

Please I need some help with this I dont know what to do and its stressing me out too much

Sorry for my bad English.

Hi all,

I am having trouble. I get a blue screen that says kernel data inpage error just about everyday. I leave the computer on overnight, in the power options I have it set to turn the moitor off after 5 mins. Allot of times when I get up in the moring I will have the blue screen.

This will also happen if say I get offline and run to the store for a bit. Allot times when I come back I will have the blue screen. I have to shut the computer down and restart. Which it runs fine then. Until the next time of course.

About 6 months ago I was having the same problem just about. Then, I was getting Kernel Stack inpage error. After several attempts by dell to fix the problem they eventually replaced the mother board. But to no avail. As now I am getting the data inpage error.

I tried calling them to see about fixing it but they want to charge me as they say its a software problem. I dont think I should pay them anything else lol.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

When I re?nstalled windows around 1-2 months ago I suddenly got a Kernel Data inpage error. In the attachments are all the files you will need (minidump and system health report). I had to re?nstall windows because there was an unremovable virus, before the re?stallation this problem didn't occur so that gives me a high suspicion of it being a driver problem but I can't find any drivers that need updating.

I also have an Iastor error, if someone could help with with that problem too that would be great (the Iastor error did occur before the re?nstallation).

Is Windows 7 . . .
- x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? x64
- the original installed OS on the system? Yes
- an OEM or full retail version? Came pre-installed
- OEM = came pre-installed on system
- Full Retail = you purchased it from retailer

- What is the age of system (hardware)? Around 9 Months
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) Re-installation 1-2 months ago, the original age is also around 9 months.

Thanks in advance,
Mr A

These were related to memory corruption (probably a driver)

Hello,

Had this computer for a couple of years now and been getting 07a bug. The drives are all reporting healthy (HD Sentinel), ran chkdsk /f and sfc, malwarebytes. partmgr.sys and classpnp.sys are showing up in the crash reports. If someone can take a look and throw me a bone!

Thanks!

i keep on getting a BSOD with Kernel data inpage error on roblox i get the error while using the program how to fix it

A:Kernel data inpage error only on 1 program

First of all - welcome to BC !

If you are getting crashes only with one piece of software, in your case Roblox, your simplest first step is to uninstall this program, re-boot and re-install it.

To uninstall it:-  Press the Win key +X and select the control panel  from the menu that appears. If it showing by small icons, fine. If not, go to the top right corner and clcik on the down arrow beside 'View by' and select 'Small icons'.

Now click on 'Programs and features' and wait for the list to load. Scroll down the list until you come to  Roblox, click once on it then move up towards the top of the screen, you will see 'Uninstall'. Click this and the program will start to uninstall. When it has finished - you will get a message normally - close the control panel and re-boot. Then re-install Roblox.

If you are still getting problems with blue screens after this, post back with details - make and model at least - of your computer and exactly whaat OS you are using.

Hi All,

I had this problem a couple weeks ago and Rollin Rog helped me out with it. We defraged the paging file and it helped for a couple weeks.

Now I am back to getting the same error message.

I was wondering. Is it possible if the HD temp gets to high to cause this problem?

I have speed fan installed and it has been showing my HD to be running well above normal for my paticular HD. Its been running in the mid 50's.

I opened the case and the fans are running but how well I'm not sure. I put my hand at the opening and barely feel anything.

Also with the case open my Temp has dropped to 46.

Like I said mainly just curious if this could be a cause of the Blue Screen.

This is the dump file:
KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR (7a)
The requested page of kernel data could not be read in.  Typically caused by
a bad block in the paging file or disk controller error. Also see
KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR.
If the error status is 0xC000000E, 0xC000009C, 0xC000009D or 0xC0000185,
it means the disk subsystem has experienced a failure.
If the error status is 0xC000009A, then it means the request failed because
a filesystem failed to make forward progress.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000004, lock type that was held (value 1,2,3, or PTE address)
Arg2: 0000000000000000, error status (normally i/o status code)

Hi, Looking around for a solution to this problem I found one suggestion which meant I had to get into my bios setup. So I get into the Phoenix Bios setup untility or whatever and I look for memory caching and shadowing, to disable them, and the options are no where to be found. This is an emachines t1120, Phoenix Bios, apparently, 256 mb Ram...this happened first when watching videos but just recently it did this when I wasn't even online and the screensaver was going. I'm not even sure what info I need to give you to help me, so let me know please. Thanks

A:BSOD/Kernel Data inpage error

Nevermind, close this thread. I disabled my paging file. We'll see if that helps. I'll run a disk check and maybe run a boot scan if I can find an anti-virus that won't slaughter my system. Maybe kick it a few times. No, four. I realize this thing is WAY out of date so I won't waste your time.

Hello, my computer was running fine the past week but now I am been suddenly getting BSODs. I am using my computer normally, sometimes playing games and the entire screen freezes and then few seconds later I get a BSOD saying "KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR", sometimes the BSOD just says "A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer". I have to restart my PC and it says "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media and press a key", and even in bios it doesn't detect my hard drive. I then have to turn off the power supply switch off and on for it to recognize my hard drive again and be able to start windows. I have done memory and hard drive tests and can't find any errors. I will be glad to provide any more information. Please help me, thank you.

Hi all,

I have started having BSODs since last week.
They seemingly seem to occur at random after using my computer around an hour.
My computer is 2 years old, and I have never had problems with it, nor have I made any changes in the last weeks.

I have run chkdsk on both my drives, and they do not have any problems. I have also run a memorycheck (3 runs) and everything seems to be fine there as well.
After the first BSOD last week, my computer did not want to start up anymore, since for some reason my SSD was not the designated boot drive anymore. After changing this back it starts though, only to crash after a while again.

I have used the SF Debug tools, since my computer for some reason does not create dumpfiles in the designated folder.

Many many thanks for your help, I feel helpless!

Have been having issues for a while now. Computer regularly becomes painfully slow (60 secs between mouse clicks) and regularly gives me the BSOD with the Kernal message in the thread title. Any help really appreciated.

Running Windows 7 Pro SP1 32 bit. Win 7 is on the D: drive (primary) as when I upgraded from Vista I wasn't brave enough to wipe it so that is on the C: drive which is predominantly data (and the now defunct Vista which I can't remove - but that is another problem...)

Having seen a similar problem on the forum I have attached a zip file of the minidump logs and the output from DDS below.

Thanks

I just got a new computer and I've been getting regular BSODs, seemingly related to use, possibly Chrome. The errors shown on the window vary, sometimes say KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR and sometimes say something about ntfs.sys. They never say anything else and the error codes seem to suggest a possible hardware problem. They also do not generate a dump file. Rather, they get stuck showing "disk initializing" and to get out, the computer has to be forced off. I ran a diagnostic on the memory and on the harddrive and both passed. I ran Driver Verifier as in the instructions and got a BSOD showing TfSysMon.sys and the kernel dump was saved and is included below. I guess I can remove Threat Fire and try the Driver Verifier again. All drivers are fully updated.

Hello,

For a while now, my computer has been crashing at (seemingly) random times. Sometimes I can do a day without crashing, other times I get the BSOD twice within an hour and at other times I get the BSOD during the Windows startup logo. The crash seems to occur more frequently while running more demanding programs (such as video games) than using something like Chrome to browse the internet.
Almost every BSOD, the error code is 0x7a (Kernel Data Inpage Error), but at times I've also gotten the 0x7b error.
I've attached the two required zip files, and here's my computer details:
· OS - Windows 8.1, 8, 7, Vista ?
Windows 7 (Ultimate)· x86 (32-bit) or x64 ?
x64· What was original installed OS on system?
I had already re-installed Windows a time before (over a year before encounting this problem), I think both installations were Windows 7 Ultimate, although the first may have been Windows 7 Home Premium.· Is the OS an OEM version (came pre-installed on system) or full retail version (YOU purchased it from retailer)?
The OS I used to run on my HDD (before buying my SSD) was pre-installed, all OS'es I installed on the SSD are from a DVD.· Age of system (hardware)
My motherboard, CPU, and Graphics Card are a little over half a year old. My memory is between half a year and a year old. My SSD (with OS on it) is nearly two years old and my HDD (extra data space) is a little over two years old.· Age of OS installati... Read more

Hi VpsB & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

Unfortunately, the ZIP File does not contain any Dump files to analyze. Would you please re run the Diagnostic Tool and let it run for atleast 15 minutes or till the time it says that it has finished it's work?

Upload the freshly generated Dump files and we would be glad to analyze it ^_^.

Been getting this for a while now, mainly happens when I'm playing games, and occasionally when my computer idles or on start up.

Windows Vista 32 bit
2 gigs of ram
amd athlon dual core 2.51 ghz
m/b asus m2n-e
6600 geforce been using it for a while, had a overheated 8600 gt

Is this ram? I feel like it's my graphics card but I'm guessing it isn't from the dump file, though I'm completely clueless as to read them though I've been looking over the debugger thread.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

There's more detail about reading memory dumps in this post on my website. It's complicated, but just follow it one step at a time and it'll work for you: http://www.carrona.org/dbgrpt.html

Quote:

If the error status is 0xC000000E, 0xC000009C, 0xC000009D or 0xC0000185,
it means the disk subsystem has experienced a failure.

That's the situation for you. Also, NTFS.sys (the file system driver for the hard drive) figures prominently in the stack text.

So, I'd suspect that this is a hard drive issue.

Start with this:

Quote:

H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:
http://www.carrona.org/memdiag.html (read the details at the link)
http://www.carrona.org/hddiag.html (read the details at the link)

If everything passes, then try this:

Quote:

CHKDSK /R /F:
Run CHKDSK /R /F from an elevated (Run as adminstrator) Command Prompt. Please do this for each hard drive on your system.
When it tells you it can't do it right now - and asks you if you'd like to do it at the next reboot - answer Y (for Yes) and press Enter. Then reboot and let the test run. It may take a while for it to run, but keep an occasional eye on it to see if it generates any errors. See "CHKDSK LogFile" below in order to check the results of the test.
