Multiple BSODs - 3B, 7e, 10, 50, can't play games anymore

Q: Multiple BSODs - 3B, 7e, 10, 50, can't play games anymore

Hi, I have a computer with hardware capable of running almost all current titles, EG Bf3, Dota2, counter strike GO, that was until a few months ago.
I started experiencing serious ping issues / packet loss in games causing me to completely freeze, then re-appear where I would have been. On counter strike source "string_cmds" graph peaks when this occurs.
The problem has got worse now, though, I can't play more then 10 minutes of ANY game before something goes wrong, be it a game crash or my whole computer shuts down resulting in one of the many Blue screen Stop errors I have said.
The game will run perfectly smooth, then suddenly my whole computer will shut down. This can happen about 5 times a day depending on how willing I am to restart the game.
Google chrome has just started to crash frequently now, too, and with limited income being 16 I need to fix this rather buy a new pc.
I don't know whether this will be useful but the address for one of them ( I've had well over 100 by now) Is "at FFFFF8801047D000" and another.." STOP: 0x00000019"

A: Multiple BSODs - 3B, 7e, 10, 50, can't play games anymore

Welcome to SevenForums,

I have had a look at your last 3 DMP Files, 2 of them are referencing memory.

Can you try these steps for me

Test your RAM modules for possible errors. How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+If there is no error, enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers. Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of enabling DV again.
If you cannot boot in Safe mode too, do a System Restore to a point you made earlier.

About a few months ago I can still play games like Combat Arms, Call of Duty 4, BioShock, and Dead Space at minimal performance. But now, I reinstalled the game to play it again and it just got stuck on the Starting Screen or just plain BLACK Screen! I can still play some MMORPG like Sword of the New World: Granado Espada or the recently Closed-Beta, Luna Online just fine. I don't know what I did wrong with my Dell XPS Laptop. A:I can't play my games anymore!?

The only thing I noticed with Vista and games is sometimes a game will load and you get to a black menu screen for the game. I play Silent Hunter 4 and the first time I loaded the game in Vista I had not issues at all. Me being me messed up how to handle admin account and user account so I did a clean install to start over. Once done I loaded Silent Hunter 4 again to play. No issues, loaded fine. I clicked to play and I got the load screen. Once I got to the menu of the game it was nothing but a black screen. I could hear the music and see my mouse cursor but nothing else. So, what I had to do was go to my videocard tweak program ( I just use the one offered by Nvidia, it works fine) and reset my video card to all the default values. Should be just a box to check and apply to reset to defaults. Once done, I ran the game and all was fine. I closed the game out and reset my videocard back up to the tweaks I like. My game ran fine every since. Give it a shot, it worked for me.

At least 2 old games gothic 1 and gothic 2 ( raven ). Both played well on my winXP 64-bit. I reinstalled them both. Gothic 1 has no images in intro, and the sound is very spotty. Gothic 2 also has no intro images and even stopped in the middle of intro.

It is the same computer, except some more games. The computer is virtually not connected to internet except when I need a patch. What could be the reason?

one year old gaming computer
winXP pro 64-bit service pack 2
AMD phenom II X4 955
3.21 ghz 8 gig RAM
radeon HD 4870 X2 2gig video RAM
BTW, the DVDs come from " gothic universal " which includes 3 DVDs ( No1 is gothic 1, No2 is gothic 2 and No3 is gothic 3 ). No3 which is gothic 3 works fine so I have no reason to think that the other two DVDs do not work because they are dusty or scratched. Most other games played well including both old and recent games.

about 3 days ago, i was just on the computer. I went on the internet, tried downloading adobe after affects, and played minecraft. after awhile i got bored so i turned off my computer. When i decided to go back on later, i couldnt play my only 2 computer games which are wizard101 and minecraft. Internet, videos and other programs work just fine. Its just wiz101 and minecraft.
When trying to open wizard 101 i get 3 errors (see attached file). After all those messages go away i can type in my username and password to start the game, but it just tells me i am unable to connect to wizard101.
For minecraft, i have 2 different minecrafts installed. One of the minecrafts let me enter my password and username and begin playing the game, but after that the minecraft window just goes black and stays like that. When trying to play the OTher minecraft i get this error -
Java Virtual Machine Launcher
Error: Invalid or corrupt jarfile C:\Documents And Settings\Victoria\Desktop\Mineshafter-proxy.jar
ive tried uninstalling and then re-installing minecraft, thats all. It did not work though. I havent tried anything else yet. I have a windows Xp. If you need anymore info on my computer or need me to be more clear about some things, please let me know. Thank you.

Hey really lost on this one as I have not really dealt with BSODS before. I build my computer a couple months ago. Recently while gaming I have had roughly 5 BSODS. They are all for different things it seems like and I have no clue how to fix it. It wont do it while sitting on the computer on firefox or just the desktop but usually an hour into gaming I will start to get them. Any help would be greatly appreciated as my computer did not do this when I first built it! Thank you! I attached my file from your guys tool that you requested. Also I dont know if it makes a difference or not but when the computer crashes, all of my desktop shortcuts will be in random places not where I originally placed them.

I recommend to reinstall/update every driver from Gigabyte and remove the Gigabyte software.
The Gigabyte software is known for causing bluescreens.
For reinstalling the GPU drivers, please follow instructions below
Please uninstall everything of Nvidia using Display Driver Uninstaller and install new drivers from Gigabyte. Be sure the clean install box is checked and only install the Graphics driver and the PhysX driver.

For the last couple of weeks I've been getting BSODs whenever I run some games on my computer. I have Windows 7.

The first BSODs were because of heat, so naturally I cleaned everything carefully, RAM included (I made sure it was seated correctly as well). I had also OC'd my processor, so I made sure to return it to stock speeds, which still didn't help.

However, after returning to the games after this the PC BSODs again. I wonder if it's a sound issue, because when it crashes I hear the sound go on like a "bzzzzzzzz" noise, though that could be it crashing.

Uploading files in a rar, can't attach as it's 204KB, just over the limit. =/

I usually start my computer up and start the chrome browser. I try to log onto a flash game and then start playing a few minutes into it, the computer will post a bsod and there are multiple errors given. After a one or more restarts, the system usually becomes stable. However, this isn't the only time I get bsod. I could just have the computer on and after a couple of minutes it will go into a bsod.

I don't know whether I have a driver issue or what the problem is.

Hello. I keep getting BSODs while using my computer. I'm not familiar with software and OS interfaces, so if you could break it down for me I would appreciate it a lot. I have an HP laptop dv7-1451nr. I have windows 7 ultimate x64. My laptop is around 3-3.5 years old now and I recently reformatted with the windows 7 ultimate OS. My friend look at the hardware for me and we found one RAM stick was bad and took it out so now I'm down to 2GB of RAM. The BSODs seem to happen mainly while I'm either trying to play a game, while those are the most consistent I sometimes get random BSODs doing what I can do right now on this computer. Can you help me out? I attached the dump file/ system report zip file.

A:Multiple different BSODs, mainly while playing games.

Do you have an anti-virus installed?

Test your RAM using Memtest86+. Let it run until 6-8 passes have completed or errors have been found.
RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Enable Driver Verifier. Enabling this should hopefully crash your system and then point to the faulty driver that is causing problems. However before you do, it is advised that you create a system restore point and backup first.

I am getting a lot of seemingly random BSODs with many new games (Bf4, Crysis 3, Watch Dogs). They dont appear during the most intense moments but completely randomly. Sometimes i can play for hours without a hitch. My rig should handle these games well enough and all the temps are good. The GPU never goes above 60C and the CPU stays quite cool as well. The BSODs dont appear during heavy stress tests on the CPU and GPU. The "Eventcode?" (computer is in finnish) is always 41, The Keyword appears to always be 0x80000000002 with bugcheck codes being : 190,0,0,126,126,80,26 in the 7 cases in my "eventviewer?"

My GPU, SSD and PSU are very new but the rest of the components are soon 4 years old. Could there be some incompatibility between the old and new parts? I have a 750 W PSU and a GTX 780 Ti+i5 2500K both somewhat overclocked

any help much appreciated.

DaemonTools is a known cause of BSODs.

1. Uninstall Daemon Tools.
2. Download the SPTD standalone installer and follow these steps:
3. Double click the executable to open it
4. Click the button shown below

I've gotten a bunch of these errors over the past few days, most noticeably with after I updated the video card driver (for Diablo 3).

Since I don't want to jump the gun and just assume its the video card drivers, I ran the driver verify (and the computer started / is working still), but I have the .dmp files from when it crashed.

I attached them. What does it say?

A:BSODs while gaming (multiple games)

The pre 2009 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.

Please visit this link: Asus tek computer inc. -support- drivers and download p7p55d le

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Motherboards- ASUS P5K-VM

Scroll down to the utilities category, then scroll down to the "atk0110 driver for windowsxp/vista/windows 7 32&64-bit" (it's about the 12th item down).

Download and install it.

Go to c:\windows\system32\drivers to check and make sure that the asacpi.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (not before).

You also have a driver from 2005 that is a HUGE cause of BSOD's in win 7 called RTCORE64.SYS, it is the msi afterburner driver (used in overclocking).
It needs at least to be updated and if it cant it needs to be removed.

I've started to get random BSOD's on my computer a few weeks back. They seem to have, in all cases but one, been triggered while running a game in fullscreen. A couple of times the computer also just froze, without any BSOD. The peculiar part is; I've gotten at least four different kinds of error messages on those BSODs. Here are the details:

Hello, I've been having quite a few blue screens lately after installing and playing a few games I bought off the Summer Sale not too long ago, and they seem to be jumping all over the place as to what the issue really is.

It was mainly when I would play the game "Saint's Row the Third", which would result in a random BSOD between a few minutes to an hour or so of play, if the game itself didn't crash first for some reason, but I just recently installed TF2 for the first time on this new machine of mine and I've gotten several BSOD a day now as a result. Like... Now I get about 3+ crashes a day, and almost always guaranteed a crash whenever I try to run that game, compared to before where it was isolated to SR3 or the occasional one here or there.

I partly fixed it I think this morning, as I got a message about a .sys file related to Avast! Anti-Virus trying to access memory after it was freed in a BSOD message earlier on, and it improved my stability quite a bit after I uninstalled the whole progam, but I've had a few more crashes since I wiped that out earlier today. I'm at the point now where I just accept that I need help, as these issues have been messing with my PC for a few months now. I've included the .zip with the various files from the diagnostic tool, and I'd greatly appreciate any help on fixing this.

So, as a noob I have no idea what BSOD mean other than my computer is about to fail at any minute. I tried to get help from Microsoft, but they said that the best thing to do is to update my drivers. Since my drivers don't have any updates at all, I've no idea what to do. My computer is Sony Vaio, model VGN-AW41ZF/B and system is Windows 7 Home Premium.

But only today, I've gotten 2 BSODs while playing Minecraft. I tried to delete all my other games to try if it will help so that I could play at least one game without my computer crashed. I also tried to clean my computer, it was kinda dirty, and I constantly have a fan on my table that blows cold air on my computer (so that I wouldn't overheat). But no, it haven't helped at all.

Here's screenshots about what I'm talking about, a little bit outdated: Click.

I also added the latest 5 minidumps in the attachment.

I copied from WhoCrashed, because I have no idea from where else:

I started getting consistent BSODs about 3 months ago, mostly when playing League of Legends. I did a clean update and install of my graphics card drivers (using DriverSweeper) and it fixed the problem for about a month. Three days ago I started getting BSODs roughly once per day, mostly from watching streams on I ran Driver Verifier this morning and was able to force one in about 10 minutes. It was a 0x000000d5 (Driver_page_fault_in_freed_special_pool) that pointed to ntfs.sys as being the culprit. Later in the day I got another BSOD while gaming that was a x116 and it mentioned something about the display driver attempted to reset (pointed to dxgkrnl.sys). Note that over the past 3 days I encountered a BSOD 4 times and each time it gave me a different bug check code. Appreciate any help.

Since about mid January now whenever I play games like osu!, WoW, RO2, or PSO2 my laptop will cause a blue screen at a pretty much random time. It can work for hours, or it can BSOD within moments of opening a game. Making it annoying to recreate. I tried almost everything the internet suggested before finally deciding to do a factory reset, which to my dismay still did not solve the problem. It has even had the BSOD during Firefox sessions before, where not a lot was happening. Although that was before the reset and hasn't happened since. So my final hope is asking here, it seems. I will try everything that is suggested, even if I already have tried it previously.

The info made with that program zipped with my username:
(I got 2 BSODs since, but the most recent one was caused by HTTP.sys, which I've never seen before).

Thanks for any help in advance.

I have a computer here that has recently started getting BSoD very frequently. It seems to be happening more and more often now. The error varies and I have included as much information as I could in the upload. It always happens while running a full screen program like a game. I have tried memtest86, and the computer crashes and shuts down before the test can complete. I have uninstalled the graphics card drivers, ran Driver Sweeper, and reinstalled. The problem persists. Anyone who can check this bug report and give me a clue what to do would be appreciated. Thanks.

The BDODs appear to be of multiple types.
Motherboard, RAM, wireless card and SSD were all replaced in early October and system completely reinstalled but BSODs continue. They are more likely to occur 1-2 min after waking from sleep, but recently also occurred when the system is just sitting.

I've been having BSOD trouble over the past four or five months now. The BSODs typically happen once a week, sometimes twice, with small strings of daily crashes here and there. I'm at my wit's end when it comes to trying to figure out where the problem lies. All of my parts are under warranty, so I'm desperate to find out which one, if any, are at fault.

I've tested my hardware extensively. Memtest86 for 7 passes on multiple occasions, using different stick and slot combinations. Ran torture tests using Prime95 for the processor. All hard drive checks come back without problems. Ran Furmark on my video card with no artifacts.

The BSODs happen most commonly when using video playlists for both Windows Media Player and Media Player Classic, multiple types of files. They also sometimes occur when playing particular games (Borderlands II, Dark Souls). Installing a fresh copy of Windows 7 did not remove BSODs, even after running it in factory settings with no additional installations.

I have attached a dump file, and I thank whoever attempts to assist me.

A:Multiple BSODs, Multiple Bugchecks (0xD1, 0x3B, 0x50, 0x0A)

Hi anthonylert.

The versatility of the bugchecks are the indication of failing memory prima facie, but as you said you ran Memtest86, can you run the memtest86+?

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

Also, disable bluetooth,at least as a test. The Atheros bluetooth module is appearing to be failing.

Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.
Click on the Start button
Type ?msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the ?Startup? tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.
Let us know the results.

Hey there,

So just to start things off, I'm 18 and don't really have much technical knowledge when it comes to computer hardware and errors, etc.

I started getting BSODs a while back, but they weren't very frequent, so I uninstalled all the programmes I had on my laptop and it stopped for the most part, so I assumed that was the problem.
As time went on up until now, they have been getting much more frequent, with the error message at the top stating something different each time, getting what seemed more serious. Sometimes when I get 1 BSOD, it would BSOD again on Startup, then again after that, which is rather frustrating haha.
I was reluctant to posting on forums, but it's come to the point of either fixing it logically, or ending up punching the screen xD

I can't really define when it happens, as it's more often some times than others, I have a hinch it has something to do with my graphics card though, as I would be playing a game, then I'd open up a new tab and watch a video then get BSOD at some point.
However it happens (less frequently for the most part) when idle or with minimum programmes running.

The programmes I mainly use on the laptop is:

Google Chrome
Sony Vegas Pro 11 (Video Editing Software)
Total Media Extreme (Personal Video Recording Software)

I can't remember any of the actual error codes, but some of the display messages i can remember are:

Last couple weeks i've been having a large amount of bluescreens, including but not limited to bccodes 116, d1, 4e, 1a, 50 and 7a. Last night it also froze two or 3 times with no bluescreen. I recently upgraded my Phenom 9550, Biostar A770E and 6GB of DDR2-800 with an i5-2500k, an MSi P67S-C43 and 4GB of DDR3-1333. The problems didn't start with the hardware upgrade, just escalated.

Yesterday I formatted my HDD and did a clean install of windows in hopes that my problems were just driver conflicts, so as of now i only have 3 crash dumps, 4e, d1 and 1a. 4e and 1a in BlueScreenView only show ntoskrnl as the culprit and no other drivers. d1 points at both ntfs.sys and ntoskrnl. A couple of the old crash dumps pre-format were citing nVidia and DirectX drivers.

I've put my RAM through 16hrs+ of memtest86+ testing, and used the windows memory diagnostic and the memory test in my BIOS. I also checked my PSU voltages with a multimeter, all of them check out. My graphics card is moody and sometimes artifacts heavily in games, sometimes works fine. Temperatures are not an issue, My GPU gets to about 72C in games and 86C in furmark torture testing without crashing. my CPU sits around 38C idle, 50-60 load, 70-80 in p95 without crashing.

So this one is pretty weird for me. I've never had any issues like this before, but I think it has to do with having all my drivers up to date. I was having this problem for a long time where I couldn't run games for too long because eventually the whole screen would get all glitchy and the last second of sound would repeat itself over and over until the monitor went into power saving mode. I tried reinstalling drivers, installing different graphic drivers like NGO and Omega which I had before.. Nothing worked!

Well, just recently my friend showed me this program driver cleaner pro and he said it helped him with his driver issues. So I followed the directions, uninstalled my drivers, cleared everything with the program in safe mode, restarted and reinstalled the drivers. Voila, all my games work with no issues at all, except for Counter-Strike 1.6.
Then I tried to watch a movie; It plays fine, I can hear the sound fine, but the video doesn't play. Even when I tried to record a video with fraps of one of my emulators (which has worked before), it didn't show video on playback.

So I restarted my computer.. now all my games don't work except Diablo 2, Starcraft, and CS 1.6. However, now I can watch movies with no problem at all! These past couple of weeks I've been having to go through the whole process of using driver cleaner pro, and installing Omega drivers again everytime my computer needed to reboot.

When I go to play CS: Source, it will get... Read more

Hello Anybody!

I recorded some video tapes to my hard drive using my 5 year old Win98 PC with an ATI All in Wonder card. The ATI software saved the video as avi files that work on the old machine just fine.

Now I have copied the files to my newer XP PC and when I try to run them with Windows Media Player, the player says it is looking for codecs on line but cannot find any to download, then it starts playing only the audio.

I have also tried Apple QuickTime with the same results, can't find proper codecs.
What next?

A:Can't play old AVIs anymore...

You will need to convert the AVI files to MPEG files. Download the free TMPGenc and it should do the job for you.

I have never used this software before so a backup before converting might be a good idea.

Hi there, well basically I have just inserted a DVD into my drive and for some reason it doesn't work. I have tried with countless other DVDs which all worked. This has just started happening so i had no idea why. I went into device manager and it said i needed to update my PCouffin Device Driver. So i tried to do the automatic update thing where it browses the net to look for updates but it came back blank. I then google searched it to see if i could come up with a solution and a update because it was my understanding that the PCouffin driver had something to do with the DVD RW?

So I was just wondering if I need to update this driver for my DVD drive to work?

I'm on Windows vista home premium 64 - bit.

Thanks in advance any help would be most appreciated.

A:Can't play DVDs anymore.

you could try drivermax google it download it and run it you will have to sign up but it is not a problem as you need to to get the code to install the program once you have done this got to check on line they will list all your drivers and list the updates for your comp please note you do not have to take them all but you may find the one you need this is a free service and not a scam as i have used it myself and do not get any problems i would not give the info otherwise

after installing a new video card my MCE does not play recorded TV, Live TV or DVDs anymore. It will play for a few seconds, and then crash.

If I play a file of recorded TV with Windows Media Player, it works fine.

The card I installed is a ATI Radeon HD 5450, 1Gb.

I can still play recorded TV from my Extender, so functionality seems OK.

Any advice is highly appreciated!

I am experiencing a problem which I've never encountered before. When I insert a DVD the window(or Wizard?) that says "Windows can perform the same task each time you insert a disk or connect a device with this kind of file" no longer opens. When it was working properly I usually checked "play with PowerDVD". I do a lot with video and DVD rendering so I did not check the "always do the selected action" box.
Now when Insert a DVD a window opens with two folders: AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS. I know what these folders represent, I just don't want that window opening. If I can Get the right window(Wizard?) to open up again when I insert a DVD I'm confident my problem will be resolved. I know what to click on in the VIDEO_TS folders to get the DVD to play but I have to use Nero to view it and do a lot more clicking. Needless to say this has also made the use of Virtual Drive less than joyful to work with!
Any help in resolving this issue would be greatly apreciated.
P.S. the issue seems to have arisen due to the install of Pinnacle Studio 11 ultimate

Lately I have been having an issue with both Windows Media Center and Windows Media Player when I try to watch a DVD. In Windows Media Center it says "Cannot Play DVD: The DVD may be in use by another application. If all other applications are closed, the video resolution may need to be lowered or the display connection type does not support playback of the DVD." I have checked multiple times and have not found any other applications using the DVD. Also, I am not sure where I can change the settings it mentions but I didn't change anything recently and I have always been able to play DVDs before.

When I try watching a DVD in Windows Media Player it says "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card." I don't really know what to do with this or how to go about fixing it. I haven't tried much.

I have to believe that something happened that caused both applications to have issues since they both stopped being able to play DVDs at the same time. I don't know what to do and I don't know what I did. Please help me, any advice or suggestion is welcome!

Thanks in advance everyone!

Hi. Last year, I bought a new PC for graphical software and gaming. From the beggining it had problems (I was recieving BSODs), so, I tested RAMs. It resulted that RAMs we're bad. I returned them in warrantly. (The PC was assembled by the shop, components we're choosen by me so that aren't any compatibility problems). Ok, so, I recieved new RAMs. But, even now, problems still exist. Now, even more, I recieve artifacts when I open a intensive graphical app (in some cases, even Youtube causes them). The more I stay on that app, more artifacts appear, until I recieve a AMD Display driver crash and, after that, a BSOD (sometimes,it directly gives BSOD, without driver crash). I tried to interchange RAM positions in all possible ways, but it didn't worked.
The GPU can't be placed on the 2nd PCI-E slot, because it is too long, and reaches the HDDs cage. I even tried a BIOS update (it worked, but it didn't helped me). I know that I removed the BIOS battery, I left it about 1 minute out, and put it back. That night, PC worked well. Next morning... The problem appeared again. I also tested CPU and HDDs, and they're all good. Can you guys help me? I remained out of ideas. Thanks!
As the BSODs appears, I will upload screenshots too. I don't have now any screenshots with BSODs. Instead, I used the program from the BSOD help, and I made a log, attached to this post.

I use my computer as my DVD player and recently I had just finished watching a movie and put another one in and now it will not run smoothly, both video and audio. It isn't the DVD because I have tried several of the ones I have and now none of them run smoothly. It is not the program because I have tried using 2 different programs to play them with no luck (windows media and hp dvd player). I got my computer for Christmas so it is very new and has lots of space on it still. It will play audio CD's with no problem! Help me please. Is it possible the reader is dirty or has been displaced a tad? If so how can i fix that? I use my computer a lot to watch DVD's so I'm hurting here! It has been suggested by me from friends that maybe it is a trojan or virus or maybe I would have to reinstall the driver but I do not know how to do that.

My CD rom doesn't want to play any CD. The drawer opens and closes, The LED light blinks, But nothing happens! the Cd ROM shows up in 'My Computer' but when I click on it, error message "Device isn't ready" comes up. I have Windows 98. I've thought about removing the driver and rebooting but I have heard some horror stories about this, how safe is it?

[This message has been edited by Tovic (edited 12-10-2000).]

Very safe. But probably won't help.

Make a Win98 startup disk (Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Startup Disk) and boot with it. It will tell you the drive letter assigned to your CD.

Make sure a good data CD is in the drive and at the A prompt type E: (assuming E is the CD) and then type DIR. If you get an error message, the drive has died. You can try cleaning it of course...

Sounds like your dvd drive has been locked to a diifirent area for diffirent dvd playback. open your driver's properties. make sure no disk is in as you'll open the disk properties instead. go to dvd-region tab. i believe that yours is locked. find what region is locked to. the dvd's of that region you can play normally. to unlock it ur looking for firmware update of the drive, good luck!!

My PC is half year old. This problem started about half year ago. If PC idle the GPU diode temperature is 85-90 and CPU is 40-50. But if i start some game, Ex: Street fighter 4 or something newer the temperature starts to go higher. GPU goes 100-110 and CPU to 90+ and then PC shuts down. What should I do to solve this problem. Check mby CPU thermoplasma or buy some new coolers? I have cleaned it recently.
OK TY. Sry Im not english.

A:temperaturee are high and cant play anymore.

So this has been happening ever since you got it? Is it a pre-built system or one you built yourself? Both the video card and CPU temps are too high and you can actually damage, if you haven't already damaged the hardware by letting the problem persist for so long.

Have you checked to make sure the fan on the video card is working and the heatsink isn't loose? It'd would also appear that the CPU heatsink isn't installed correctly or the fan isn't working. What case do you have and what kind of cooling fans do you have?

Hello all.

I don't know if this goes here or in the software section, so if it needs to be moved, go right ahead...

OK here's the problem....
Since a few days I can't play movies that are 'integrated' in sites anymore. I just see the windows mediaplayer logo but the movie never starts (I don't have any problems with quick time movies).... I have ADSL and I've waited long enough to load the entire movie, but I just can't get anything. When I go to the source code of the site and copy the link to the movie, the thing loads normally and the mediaplayer opens right after completion of the download....

Anyone know what can be causing this?

I have a Emachines M5309. The cd-rom refuses to play anything now. It would try to read the disk and hum really loud and fast like it was going to fly off, then stop. The only thing that happened before it was that I had tried playing some DVDs that weren't burned right. Then after that, the drive wouldn't play anything.

I've seen this happen on other laptops before. I've noticed that it tends to happen with disks that have paper labels, and wonder if the paper label adds too much weight to the disk and causes the error reading it. But in those cases, the cd-rom works again if I put in another disk. Now, it doesn't read anything.

Can someone help me with this?

Try this: go to control panels > add or remove programs - remove adobe flash player. sometimes installations fail if the old version hasn't been removed properly by the new installer. then go to the proper adobe web site and download and install the newest version of adobe flash player.

So I'm wondering if anybody else who's installed the anniversary update is able to still play Battlefield 4, and if so did you have to do anything to make it work?
When I try to join a game, it will keep me in the queue if necessary, then switch to "Joining server" and then at some point after that I get a "Battlefield.exe has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution" error. It seems to be right when it joins the server that the crash happens.
I've rebooted my machine and checked for more updates. I've also checked for updates on Battlefield 4 and Repaired the game. I was hopeful the repair would do the trick, but I still get the same error.

I joined Bingo Cafe and Bingo Cabin and Jet Bingo over a year ago and have been happily playing up until a couple of week ago.
It first started on my desk top computer, I would click on the logo on my desk top and it would come up and I would click up log in and it would start to connect to the server but it gets to 15% and I get the message It Is Not Possible To Make A Connection To The Server.
So I stopped using the desk top and started using my lap top, and that was fine up until 2 weeks ago now it's doing the same thing on my lap top.
I have emailed Bingo Cafe and they sent me a link to re download the software direct from their site, it made no difference, I have rang my ISP and asked if maybe they were blocking the site but they said no they couldn't do that even if they wanted to. So I have emailed Bingo Cafe again asking them to help, but I thought someone on this forum might have some ideas, I even changed my browser but it made no difference.

A:Can't play my bingo and slots anymore will not download

Not sure about the specific problem, but your ISP is talking rubbish when they say they can't block a site, they can quite easily if they want to. However, I wouldn't expect that to be the problem.

usually when cd players stop reading disc's its usually because the players are dirty or sometimes it could be something a little bit more and the connection side, start with running a cd cleaner on it and see if that helps, how long have you had the machine and when did you notice this happening.

I am a transcriptionist and I have been using StartStop Universal transcription software for about three years now. About three weeks ago, it all of a sudden decided to stop playing MP3 files, which is a critical issue for me.

Tech guy at the place I bought the software spent a lot of time trying to figure out the problem, but to no avail.

I had been having memory problems right before this happened, and he and i had deleted several things to try to regain some memory. Is it possible I could have deleted something necessary to play these files?

I'm running on Windows 98 SE and am using Windows Media Player. I have found that an older version of Start Stop, Pedal Power for Real Player, plays these files just fine. I'm thinking, therefore, it might be a problem between Windows Media Player and the SS Universal.

The MP3 files simply will not open at all when I try to open them with any version of Universal; they don't even show up in the queue. They will, however, open if I open them through Windows Media Player.

I was using .wav to mp3 conversion software, but it grossly affected audio quality, so this is not an option, unless someone knows of a way to amend this. I was using GoldWave.

Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

I used to be able to play DVD movies on my computer, but without any explanation it stopped working after a while (when the computer was a few months old). The computer recognizes DVD discs when they are inserted into the drive and it can usually ?sort of? play them. Unfortunately there are several problems related to the playing:

1. The pace of both the picture and sound is inaccurate and jerky.
2. Sound and picture are often out of sync.
3. Jerkiness occur repeatedly, but sometimes the movie won?t continue to play at all. The drive tries to spin up, pauses, tries to spin up again ? this goes on and on for several minutes and can?t be stopped (the drive won?t eject). When it finally stops and the drive ejects the disc will be burning hot.
4. You never know if/when (and why ) the movie will stop working in the middle.

Sometimes the problems are really bad, sometimes not so. At its worst the computer won?t play a disc at all. A disc that won?t play at all one day may at least be somewhat watchable the next.

The drive is a combo CD-RW/DVD drive, and I can play CDs and burn CD-RWs without any trouble. The problem doesn't have anything to do with which media player I use, I have tried Windows Media Player, VLC, BSPlayer, PowerDVD, the list goes on... none of them work. It's not the discs that are damaged either, I have tried loads.

Surprisingly, to me at least, I can however copy the contents of a DVD disc to my computer using DVD Decry... Read more

A:My computer can't play DVDs properly anymore

Whenever I have the symptoms you describe it's beacause my DVD-reader can't rad the disc (because the disc is damaged). However, in your case, it might be something with the DVD-reader itself. I'm not sure my tips are really accurate, so I just say what I'd do in your possition (which might be totally unnessecary but in my cases, it has always helped with whatever I've done).

Softare first, I'd try reinstalling eventualy drivers, updating them if I could. I'd try 3rd party drivers if I could, or check if some program is interfering with the reader itself.

Then I'd go to hardware if that didn't sort the problem. I'd try switching it to another IDE cable, (assuming it's 2nd master and HDD is 1st master), I'd try putting it as 1st slave, and try switching the HDD and DVD-reader IDE-cables.

Mostly i've just been lucky fixing problems I couldn't explain just by poking around and testing the problem with different random stuff. I really don't recommend it, because when I do, I'm aware I might get things worse and I'm ready to end up buying a new computer. I hope someone else will have better suggestions. I just thought I'd write this since I have a computer problem myself and I desperately need a break (been on it for 12 hours and I still haven't had anything to eat today).

Let me know how it turns out.

I just don't trust those apps who change in behavior.
The Music App must have indexed all the contents in the music folder because the first time I've used it (when double click - play worked), there was no folder or file in list.

That must be the explanation but still: play on double click should be kept for user choice and I don't like that it's removed.

Toshiba Satellite M45-S355; 1.86Ghz Intel Processor; 1 GB RAM; 100 GB HDD; XP Home SP2

I got infected and used the Toshiba recovery disk a couple of weeks ago and still had infections. Some wonderful folks here on this site got me all fixed up and I'm now infection free. All the video was working until a few days ago, but now CWTV, ABC, FOX, and FOXNEWS videos won't work all of a sudden.

CBS and NBC videos work fine, as well as USA (thank goodness, I couldn't live without MONK!).

I've tried everything I know to try - put them in trusted sites in IE7 and in Zone Alarm and still can't play them.

Anyone have any advice?

I have a Core 2 Quad Q9650 processor running at stock 3.0 GHZ, 4GB RAM, a GTX295 and Vista Home Premium SP1, all drivers updated and my problem is that when I try to play ANY video in Windows Media Center (even the ones that Vista ships with), I get a black screen, but can hear the audio.

All other video players (Windows Media player, Real player, itunes etc.) on my PC play videos without a problem, so I doubt it is a general codec issue.

I remember being able to watch the introductory video (the one with the family in front of a tv where things like contrast and brightness are explained) about half a month ago when I first configured Windows Media Center.

Can you please help?

I d/l some songs that were playing just fine on WMP for a while until I tried to install Yahoo Music Engine. YME didn't completely install because it encountered some sort of problem. Now when I try to play them on WMP, it says it needs a security update, but then encounters error code 800C2F78. The Microsoft Web site only says it's investigating the problem, it's not on it's list of common error codes. We're talking about a lot of songs that I paid a buck apiece for. The songs that I ripped from CDs play just fine, it's only the ones I d/l.

I'm a newbie here, and wasn't able to find the answer to my question in previous, please take it easy on me if it's a problem that's already been covered.

I have a Dell laptop with a DVD drive. I've been able to watch movies for months with no problems, all of a sudden yesterday I put in a legit movie that I purchased, and WMP 10 gives me an error message that it can't play the DVD because of digital copy protection. I tried other movies, and tried playing the movies in Media Center and got the same message, so I installed WMP 11 thinking it would help.

Needless to say, it hasn't, and I can't watch movies now. I've gone through all the Troubleshooting on, which basically entailed restarting the media player, and the computer itself - to no avail.

I'm in the process of downloading another media player that some people on this site have recommended (VLC), so I'm hoping that will be a temporary fix...but I'd really like to get WMP back up and running.

Please help.

Guys you won't believe it.

I reinstalled Vista yesterday because of this issue and also my games.
Yesterday everything worked.
Today I installed my applications and extra drivers and I started Racedriver GRID and it did the same thing.
So since its a new Vista install I checked what I installed today and removed the Windows Visual C and my Genius Fpen 610 driver.
Reboot and magically Grid and all my games started.

My Genius F610 Tablet driver for Vista was causing all the trouble!!!!
Can you believe that?

Thanks for everyones help!

I think I am in the right place but if this thread should be in another spot let me know.

I bought a computer a while ago and because it has a GeForce 7800 GS video card it sadly has the infinite loop problem. I managed to fix the Blue Screen of Death errors this problem causes when I downloaded the latest drivers for my card. I haven't had the crash problem since, but still have video rendering problems when I play some games like Battlefield 2 for instance what happens is the environment goes all screwy, I see a checkerboard type map on the ground or the image of the gun I am holding has odd triangle shapes coming off it or when I get into a vehicle the view is all triangles and flashing object or the other characters in the game look all sparkly and seem to be made up of odd triangle shapes. The only way to fix this is to reboot the system closing the game and starting it again doesn't work. Anywho the main reason I am here is because since I updated the video drivers ( I don't know what they were before or if this is the real reason for the problem) or because of something else other than the driver update, I can't say for sure as I didn't notice the problem right away because I didn't start the affected games for quite some time after the fact. I can still play COD4 but COD5, COD6, and Black Ops all fail to work and close down before they start COD6 actually stutters at the menu screen and I have to shut the system down by pulling the plug.... Hey guys I have AT&T "High-Speed" Internet DSL. I used to be able to host games and such when I was directly connected to the modem and nobody would lagg, and I would never lagg in games. Anyways, now I bought a linksys wrt54gl because I needed internet for myself and other people here at home. Well I tried the best I could, and I can join games (I play Borderlands and CS:Source and Team Fortress 2) but I can't host. When I host, my friends can't join, they used to be able to join me with no lagg... now they can't even join me.

I've tried port forwarding, disabling DMZ, removing the router firewall, tons of stuff. I can't get it to work, and I need to be able to host games again because I have the fastest internet.

Please help me out, I'm a newcomer and not too Tech Savvy but I'm not stupid either.

Thanks guys at Tech Support Guy Forums,

A:Can't host games anymore, help?!!

just for troubleshooting, put your computer in the DMZ (must have manual IP address). What the DMZ will do is route any traffic to that computer without any issues/port blocks etc.

After I ran registry mechanic and defragged my hard drive (perfect disk - thrice, although I stopped the defrag half way through), none of the latest games work anymore (Call of duty 4, Crysis demo, Bioshock), although older games like Heroes of might and magic 3 still runs fine. Whenever I click to start a game, the splash screen will start, the screen will go black like when one normally starts a game, and then I'm just back at the desktop, with no error message. All other software works fine, like Ableton Live 5 etc.

I should also say that before all of this I decided to clean up my hard drive and deleted some files mainly in C:\documents and settings\bernhard\local settings\temp. I did not delete any read-only files. Maybe this screwed it up?

It's strange because everything works fine except these games all of a sudden.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

So i kept reading and trying other go. Then i noticed my computer is working at 100% capacity. I dont think its my cd drives, i know its not the disk. PFN_LIST_CORRUPT (3 of them)
and some other's...

A:Can't play games i just play BSoD (lol)

Ok, first it could be an issue with your graphics card drivers. I suppose you have that 9600gt in your signature, so I'd recommend you do this:

1. Download Driver Cleaner PRO:
2. Download these Nvidia drivers for your card (not the most recent, but the most compatible and reliable I found, they are good for solving issues):
3. Go to Control Panel>>Add/Remove programs (if you have some other unninstalling software, for example Advanced Uninnstaller PRO or CCleaner, DON'T use them for uninstalling a driver. For the most times it doesn't even appear in the list), and remove both Nvidia drivers and Nvidia PhysX (if available).
4. Boot into safe mode, run DCP, select Nvidia and wait a bit. If for a long time (ex. 20 minutes) the system does nothing, just reboot into normal mode.
5. Install the drivers you downloaded.

Now try running a lot of games and let me know if the blue screens are less frequent, or some of them are gone and some remain. Then again it could be the PSU, so if this doesn't work I'd question the quality, what brand is it? :)

Ever since that last cumulative update for win10 in the past 2 weeks ive experienced constant BSODS. Constant system hangups. Literally I was sitting here with nothing actively running except google chrome and trying to post this thread and my entire system locked up, screen and all. I wasn't able to do anything except hard restart. This happens 3-4 times every hour.

Media Center's control bars (app bar at top and play/control bar at bottom) do not fade away during play of recorded TV or DVD movies. They used to disappear once the show started playing unless I moved the mouse. I've been through the settings available and cannot figure out why this is happening. I cannot remember when it first started, but no more than a month and probably less. I have not made any changes to MC settings. There have not been any new updates specific to MC since 1/12/2012. Is it possible that a .NET Framework update on 2/14/2010 (KB2633880) could have some effect? There were also some Security updates. I've searched MS Knowledge base, but couldn't find anything.

I specifically record some art painting shows where the upper control bar staying on instead of fading away is obstructive - my LCD died 2 months ago and I'm having to watch on my back-up CRT which has really cramped my viewing anyway . Any help will be greatly appreciated!

My Auto Run/Auto Play stopped working in Vista Home Premium 32 bit OS, I 've ticked the box Use Autoplay for all media devices in Control Panel / Hardware and Sound/ Autoplay. Also tried other options like I'd used before when it used to work.
Tried Reset all defaults.Nothing seems to fix it.
Sounds like a Registry issue??? But don't know!
Any ideas how to repair/fix this problem please.

A:Auto play / run doesn't work anymore when USB Device is plugged in.

What anti-virus software do you use. If there is a virus on a USB my anti-virus (nod32) won't let auto run start. Try another device before you go into the registry.
