Q: Searching for specific update numbers on Microsoft website

Is there a way to do a specific update search on the Microsoft website? For example: If I was looking for only KB2534366. Let me know. Thanks.

If you know the KB number, any search engine will do,

Download Details - Microsoft Download Center - Update for Windows 7 (KB2534366)

Hi all!

I'm working on a new workbook and I'm having trouble working-out exactly what I need to do to achieve the following:

I have two worksheets in my workbook. The first worksheet has a list of codes (budget reference numbers) in rows, and columns for each month within the financial year. Within the cells that intersect with these rows and columns I want to show dollar amounts that display the amount of money remaining in each budget. In my second worksheet I have a populated list of expenses (one expense listing per row), all assigned with one of the codes I mentioned before.

Now, what I would like to happen is for each cell intersecting with a code and month in the first worksheet to search through the second worksheet for any listings that fall within that particular month, and that particular code, then adding them together and producing the result.

I'm not sure I've explained this particularly well, but any help that could be offered would be greatly appreciated.

Today, my roommate apparently used my laptop without my knowledge, trying to "make my wireless network more secure" (or so he says.) In the process,he completely destroyed said network (so much for making it more secure) and I ended up not being able to use it at all.

After a call to tech support at my ISP, I was able to get it up and running again. I can access my email, use my P2P program, and access every website I've tried, except for one specific site. When I try to access that particular one, I get the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" error page, and when I try to investigate further by clicking the "Diagnose Connection Problems" button, what comes up is "[This website] is not set up to establish a connection on port "World Wide Web" (HTTP)" with this computer."

I have never seen this error message before, and I was able to access this particular website with absolutely no problems, right up until this afternoon when my roommate fooled with my wireless connection. And, as I said, I can access every other website I want, just not this one. Could it be simply a matter of the server being busy/unavailable, or could there still be something screwy with my wireless network?

Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here.
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool. When done, DDS will open two (2) logs
1. DDS.txt
2. Attach.txt
Save both reports to your desktop.
Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here or here. Extract the contents of the zipped file to your desktop.
Double click GMER.exe. If asked to allow gmer.sys driver to load, please agree to do so.
If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan...click on NO.
In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following ...Sections
IAT/EAT
Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
Show All (don't miss this one)

Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
Once the scan completes, click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "ark.txt".
Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop

**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOKIT" entries without proper guidance from an expert user.

...when finished, please post those logs back here. Thanks!

I have an issue with one specific website on my home computer. One or two pages will usually open then I get a "Website not available" msg on everything I do after that even logging out. Sometimes after multiple tries the next page will open. I did not have this problem on my computer until a month or so ago. Before that it worked fine. I do not have this problem on any other computer. I can also access the site with my Iphone without any problems. I have tried Internet Explorer, Goggle Chrome, and Fire Fox and still have the same issue. I have deleted the Cache, Cookies and turned off the antivirus software (McFee All Access). Nothing seems to help. I am convinced it must be some setting on my computer that was changed but do not know enough about computers to go beyond what I have mentioned. BTW, I searched for a similar issue but could not find one. Any help will certainty be appreciated. My computer info follows, please let me know if addition information on the issue is needed.

For the past 2 months I have been having a problem viewing a specific website (Real Clear Politics). This problem occurs with IE, Mozilla, and Google Chrome, from three different ISPs (Comcast, Wide Open West, Keyon Communications). After contacting the webmaster for the website they were baffled and recommended a workaround of eliminating the "www." at the beginning of the address. This solution has allowed me to view the website though it does cause annoyance and links directing to deeper within the site are broken when clicking on them and the "www." must be removed to access them.

Today while exasperated I came upon a possible cause and solution of flushing the dns cache

However when I tried to perform the operation ipconfig /flushdns I received the message
"The requested operation requires elevation."

Any help would be appreciated either aimed at the root cause (ideas, solutions) or at this flush dns issue.

Thanks very much

Hi

When I am on the page
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2592687 use the link for downloading "Download the Update for Windows 7 SP1 for x64-based systems package now." I end up on a page where I can push "Download". When I push it I end up on a page
with "Thank you for downloading" but nothing happens. There is a line with "If your download does not start after 30 seconds,
Click here" - if I do I end up on a page
where it is listed:
This page can?t be displayed

Turn on TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 in Advanced settings and try connecting to
https://download.microsoft.com again. If this error persists, contact your site administrator.
TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 are all selected.

Anybody having an advice on what to do to get in touch with the file I want to download.

hi everybody,
i used to have norton antivurus 2004, but i strted reading around on google and found that Trend Micro actually is better than Norton AV.
but since the first time i started using Trend Micro i noticed that the files that pc-cillin from trend micro search in all of my computer is about half the files that Norton used to search. example: with norton 320.000 files and trend micro 175.000 files.
Why? i have in the options to SCAN ALL FILES and level 6 for compressed files. and to prove that, i searched all the files on my computer on the windows explorer search.
So why is that?
Thanks, Hector

A:Trend Micro and Norton:Searching file numbers

That's because Norton AV counts the actual number of files contained in a compressed file, whereas TrendMicro AV does not.

Can anyone help identify a motherboard or point me in the right direction to go looking?

I've been all over. Newegg, eWiz, Tiger, CompUSA, too many others. I've not been able to find a suitable board to make into a server. My requirements are generally very simple.

1) Standard ATX, naturally.
2) Socket 478/LGA775
3) NOT DDR3, prefer DDR2, yet standard DDR would do.
4) at least 6 SATA ports that'll do RAID 0/1/0+1
5) at least 3 PCI slots.

Pretty simple, yet nothing seems to match up. Does anyone know of a mobo that fits these traits?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

I have a research report about 120 pages in MS word format, and this needed to be printed as a book,
I set the cover of the book in separated file page and the summary with the other contents in a separated file that must show page numbers, I would like to put the cover and all other contents in the same file but do not insert numbers in the firts page of the cover and need to start inserting the ordinal numbers in the following pages starting from 1 till the last,

is there some techinical steps to manage this in MS word 2003 and make it one file? it would be much better and handy as one file instead of 2 parts,

I was steered in the right direction on how to search for photos on a specific date but I don't think anyone told me how to search for a specific time frame like a whole week in say some specific year. I want to know what pictures I scanned back in the second week or march 2000 Have a nice day. Of course from march 8 to march 15 would work too.

A:searching for files in a specific time frame.

You would use the 'datetaken' filter (minus quotes), adding a partial ellipsis (2 dots) between the dates as per the example:03/08/2007..03/15/2007

and screenshot:

You can also use the drop down calendar (when date filter entered) to select the date range, but it can be kind of hinkey at times, so you may find just typing filter and date range in one fell swoop more convenient.

James

Edit:
you can also turn up all images from a specific year just by typing, i.e., datetaken:2000. Sometimes it's nice to pick a particular year and see what was going on...

Sorry if im annoying someone with my masses of questions
does anyone know of a program that allows you to search a webpage for words so you dont have to scroll through the whole thing looking?

A:Program For Searching For Specific Words..no Not Google :p

Most browsers already have a page search function built into them, so you do not need any redundant application to search for words.Firefox or Mozilla, for example, allow the user to use either Control +F, or the path "Edit/Find in this page" to bring up a search box. Regards,JohnEdit: just to be complete, since quietman7 gave the IE information, Opera also uses Control +F to show its "find box."

I work for a company that uses laptops for testing. I have to setup around 10 at time usually. I am trying to come up with an effective way to scan these computers for viruses when they return to the office. The catch is I have to find something that doesn't install any software on the machine. What would honestly be perfect for me would be something that works like McAfee free scan. The computers have an internet connection while I configure them so if I had something like that running on one of our webservers, or it's own dedicated server so the server would update with definitions as they were available. The free scan installs an Active X control which is perfectly fine. I just can't install Norton or AVG or anything like that. Does anyone know of anything like that?

Thanks

I have a form that is one page in size and I am wondering if I copy it on say 100 successive pages so that there 100 pages of the the same form, can I do an "x of y" it a specific location within the form so that the rest are automatically numbered?

What I have now is a single form that has this: Item number 1 of 100. Now I have to print 100 of these out, but I don't want to change the number each time manually to 2 of 100, 3 of 100 etc. So as I said, I want to copy the same form 100 hundred times and enter some kind of numbering fuction or formula that will enter the next sequential number automatically on each form on the pages that follow.

Is there a way to do this in Word. I don't want to use headers.

Alright guys, I've got some major problems with a computer here. The computer seems to be infected with some sort of virus, with symptoms similar to conficker. I am not sure that this is what is causing our problems, but it's come down with a nasty worm that has the following symptoms:

1) All microsoft update websites are disabled. I try to log onto them and the website will not load. All other websites load just fine.
2) Major websites posting fixes to viruses and computer problems also redirect to a website with advertisements.
3) I get a svchost error that, upon clicking "ok", freezes the computer or makes it run very slowly.
4) Svchost.exe begins to consume a MASSIVE amount of memory, slowing down the entire computer.
5) I am experiencing random redirects to websites.
6) The computer, as a whole, is running sluggishly.

We attempted the following fixes:
1) Installing and updating avast, and running scans. Various trojans have been removed.
2) Installing and updating malware bytes. Various trojans and viruses have been removed.
3) Running windows repair. This did not fix any of the above problems. We are trying to avoid a complete format here.
4) Reinstalling virus scanners and malware bytes, running them again, and fiding more viruses.
5) Reinstalling internet explorer 8.

None of the above work. We do have access to a windows install CD, just for your knowledge, just in case. But as mentioned before, we'd like to remove the problems without... Read more

Hi, this probably something simple, but I just don't know it.
I have two forms, the first called directory, the seconde called details.
I want a button on directory that will pull up the detail form of the specific record.

Now in earlier versions of Access I used the command button wizard to run Form Operations - Open form - [Form name] - [Open for specific data] - selected the matching fields. And that worked like a charm.

Since I've upgraded to 2007 though, it always, and I do mean always, opens the proper form, but selects the last record in the form.

I've read elsewhere where this is 'new' feature of 2007, but this doesn't serve my purposes.

Any suggestions as how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for ideas on how to fix IE to work 100% with a particular website (Mainaccount.com if it matters, it's a financial website). Here's the situation: 3 end-users all go to it and punch in their info on a static form page then get a new page (Not popup)
displaying what they queryed on. Seems like the usual output is a graph but I don't recall 100%, that was yesterday :) For one of the 3, it works intermittently. He'll get the generic "This page can't be displayed" error. I went down there to see
and sure enough, we talked for a while and it worked as much as failed as he tried numerous times. The status bar didn't show anything. So for the moment, I assume it is NOT anything like IE config, extensions, java settings, activex settings, etc. because
if it was, it would always fail. So I'm going back to basics. I disabled add-ins anyways (Just 2 skype things, the rest were the built-in add-ons), deleted temp internet files. Figured wth and added the domain to compatibilty view. The end user called the
website support who said there wasn't any particular config necessary to get the website to work. These were token measures so I'm asking for new ideas. Oh yeah one more thing. It seems there's not much you can do to blow away a user's IE profile, correct?
I saw the info on exporting cookies, favorites and feeds but that won't be enough, in my opinion. Thanks!

But when it tried to update the virus database, I got the message that "can't connect to server". Then I tried to open avast.com. But I again got the error message "The page cannot be displayed". Then I uninstalled the avast and tried to open other antivirus sites like norton, mcafee, avg etc., but all failed.
Then I tried to update my system using automatoc update utility. But again failed. microsoft.com also failed to open.
I use GPRS connection through cellular connection to browse the network.
Now I have downloaded and installed Hijack This.

Hi,
First hello as I am new and also if I posted this in the wrong forum please let me know.

I have always used a website www.english.ctrip.com and it always worked very well.  Suddenly, this past week it does not work for me on any of my computers.

I am using a Vista SP2, 64 bit but also have a Windows 7 Desktop and an apple Ipad. The site does work on my iphone connected to the same wi-fi and it also works for friends at their home. I have contacted the website and they do not have a record of anyone having the same problem. I have successfully used this website for a couple of years without problems

When I try to use the website I get the following message:

 Capture.JPG   31.09KB
  9 downloads

I am not too computer savy but from reading and reading I thought it might be a problem with my router. I disconnected the router and modem, turned off the computers and started again with the same problem. I have a Linksys E2500 router

I was using IE8 and tried it on Firefox and Google Chrome with the same result, then I downloaded IE9 - no help. I tried restoring my computer to an earlier date (twice) and the restore was not successful. I deleted all cookies and browsing history and temp files.  Other than pulling out my hair (which never seems to help) I am at a loss as to what to try next, I really need to use this website.
Any suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely
Pat

is not working for me. It has been working for me for years and all of a sudden it just stopped. I tried going onto it with different browsers and it still won't work! I tried clearing cookies, cache, and history and still it won't work. It is still up and running cause I logged into it from a different computer. My internet is fine and every single website is working except this one!

It is golivewire.com

HELP! I've been asking everywhere and nobody is giving me any answers. Please be aware I am not tech savvy...so man of the answers that people have posted to this question I did not understand...is there anything I can do?!

A:Only one specific website

The only reason I am suggesting is because this happened to me. I actually had a broadband router with a SPI Firewall and other network intrusion detection settings. I had issues actually getting to TechGuy.Org. It turned out my routers Firewall thought I was getting flooded with network traffic from TechGuy so it blocked it temporarily. This was happening everyday until I read the log file in the router config. I turned off the firewall and everything was fine. I ended up buying a new router because I wasn't comfortable with turning the Firewall off.

That is probably not the problem but just my experience.

Does anyone else have access to your computer or network? They could be pulling a prank on you by blocking it with a hosts file or other DNS blocking utilities.

First of all, Hello everyone.
I've been experiencing this problem ever since I bought a new laptop in march.
I just simply can't access to this website (it's a Korean website)

I thought it was a simple error on Google Chrome, so I tried to access it on IE, Firefox, etc. I always got the same results that I couldn't access it.

I'm not a computer expert, but I've tried to access the website with the ip address. I was able to go on the website, but when I wanted to proceed further into it (For example, reading an article), it would show me the same page as when I couldn't access to it.

Could anyone please help me out?
(Although none of you will able to read/understand what it says on the page, in case it might come to a use I'll leave the website)

????

*It is neither blocked on my firewall nor on my antivirus program.

Thank you

We have 3 computers on the same home network. Yesterday, I noticed that my laptop would not open a specific website that I am on almost daily. The other two computers open it just fine. I have tried....restarting my computer, unplugging router and modem and plugging back in, deleting cache, cookies and history, restoring computer to a previous date. I've disabled parental controls and my antivirus and that didn't help either. I'm just at a loss and very frustrated. What would cause a computer to all of a sudden not be able to go to a website? I should mention that I can open it with anonymouse.org (as I saw suggested while trying to find a solution online) but once it loads, I am unable to log in and the page doesn't load quite right...with ads that should appear on the side of the screen, loading over other text in the middle. Anyone with any ideas on how to fix this problem and what might have caused it? Thank you.

Hi, firstly apologies if this has already been posted somewhere (a quick search didnt bring anything up).

I was wondering if anybody new a way of blocking access to a specific website, but this doesnt seem to be any ordinary website.

The website in question is www.imperiaonline.org

I have Linksys wireless boradband router(WRT54G), using its built-in "access restrictions" i added the above site but it failed to block access. I entered a second website (www.cheese.com) to block in the same policy and this is blocked, so it is not an mistake in the configuration of the policy.

I then tried blocking access via Internet Explorers restricted access option, this also fails to block access attempts to the formentioned site.

I also tried a search in google.co.uk for the String "imperiaonline", amazingly it times out every time whereas any other search takes under a second for the results to be displayed... which seems a little dodgy to me.

If anyone has any information regarding this site or any suggestions on how i might go about blocking this website or if anyone could test blocking this site on any installed applciations you may use to prove it works, it would be most appreciated.
Its IE6 but it isnt being blocked in Firefox either.

Thanks,

Nnahrino.

A:Blocking a specific website

I think you have to block imperiaonline.org also because I went there with www.imperiaonline.org and imperiaonline.org so if you blocke the one it just used the other that you did not have blocked.

You could also block the site with your hosts file.
But your need to add both
www.imperiaonline.org
imperiaonline.org

Also www3.imperiaonline.org wanted to set a cookie so add it too.

Okay, I'll try to give as much information so suggestions aren't given that I've already tried..

A few months ago I noticed I couldn't access the website for my circuit city credit card account services. The actual website is:

http://www.fnanb.com

It can be access from a number of places, I usually do from:

http://www.circuitcityrewards.com
At first I thought it was a problem with their site, except I noticed I could still access it at work, and at a friend's house. Both of us have the same router, and I've reset to factory settings on mine to make sure it wasn't that, so I don't think it's a router issue.

In fact, I think it's an issue with a setting on my laptop, I just can't figure out what. I run SpyBoy Seek & Destroy, I use CCleaner occasionally, and I use NOD32 for antivirus. I suspect it may be something CCleaner is doing, but I'm not sure.

I've tried accessing with both Firefox and IE. Neither work. I've checked my hosts file and I didn't find any kind of restriction (nothing after "localhost").

I use Comcast, but so does my friend so I don't think it's an ISP issue.

I used my friend's laptop at her house, and it worked. But when I used my own laptop, same problem. It's almost certain that it's a setting somewhere on my laptop.

I've tried a few different things like adding the site to my trusted sites list and release/renew my IP and some... Read more

It has been too long since I used AOL for me to give any specific help, and it will be a lot longer before I will consider using it again, because problems such as your's. AOL's software corrupts IE, and AOL decides what you can or cannot access. Consider using a different ISP service.

Ok my name is andrew and i'm a computer/network technician, however i have become stumped with this issue. I frequently visit the website support.proboards.com to get codes, news and updates about and for my proboards forums. However, around Wednesday (jan/2) i was no longer able to access the website. I have not installed or removed any programs in or around this timeframe. I have admin access of this pic and I'm the only user of it, as well.

Here's what I've tried (with no avail) so far:
1. did a tracert & ping to support.proboards.com...it doesnt work but it does work to the main website proboards.com
2. called my ISP (ATT) and we ran through some steps that didnt work.
3. spoke with admins of the proboards company and they havent changed or done anything
4. checked (and reset) my modem/router
5. cleared my SSLs, cookies, hosts file, browser history, & temp. internet files

That's what Ive done (not necessarily in that order) but still I cannot access the website. So the isp says they're connection isnt the problem, the owners of the proboards site say it isnt their problem b/c the tracert/ping stops before it gets to their servers.

I also noticed while glancing through both the DSS and extra.txt that my windows and symantec firewalls were down, that was from working with the ISP tech. If you need me to run it again with them enabled, just let me know.

Ok so i followed the 5 steps before posting. Here is the DSS file

A:no access to one specific website

Bump. while I bump I guess I'll fill you in that it's not only my PC that is blocked from this website. EVERY computer (wired/wireless) is not able to access the site. I spoke with three tech agents on 3 occasions at my ISP (ATT) and they say it's not them. I kept in touch with the ProBoards owners and they say it's not their fault b/c the connection (hops in tracert) stop before it gets to their (DNS) or regular servers.

Any ideas?

Hi there, hope someone can help. I can't access a specific website - www.writingforums.com. The problem started last night. Some of us were having a meeting in an Ajax chatroom that is part of the site. When the meeting finished, I copied our conversation and pasted it into "OpenOffice.org Writer". When I tried to save, Writer crashed, so I closed it and tried again. I'd noticed that the little pictures we'd been using in Chat (smilies) hadn't come through into Writer. Instead, there were empty boxes with web addresses in them. Guessing that these might have caused the crash, I deleted them before trying to save again. This time the save worked. At the same time, I had lost connection to www.writingforums.com. As I had no problems connecting to any other site, I assumed it was a problem with the site itself. However, I was able to log on with no problems while at work today. Two other computers in my house now have the same problem. All three computers use the same internet connection, bt internet. I have Windows XP and Google Chrome, but one of the other computers has Firefox. I've also tried Internet Explorer; it doesn't work on any of them. The error message I get when I try to connect is ... This site can’t be reachedThe connection was reset.ERR_CONNECTION_RESET Any solutions would be greatly appreciated!

About 2 weeks ago, I was no longer able to access anything that has to do with worldofwarcraft.com from my home network. I have been able to access it fine for years, since the thing came out.

From other computers and networks the site loads just fine.

I have tried the DNS flush and checked my hosts file. Everything is fine there, and I have looked at all of my security settings within my desktop and my router, nothing is blocking it. Nothing has worked so far.

I have also tried accessing it in IE, and it doesn't work there either.

The error message that I get is the classic:

The server at www.worldofwarcraft.com is taking too long to respond.

* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

I cannot open my bank website for the life of me. Other random https websites open fine (Bank of America, Wells Fargo, etc.). When I try and open my bank website, www.azfcu.org I get "Unable to connect." This problem started about 2 weeks ago. SOME SITES DO NOT RECOGNIZE IE 7 AS LATEST BROWSER

Some web sites are disigned to identify internet Explorer 6 as the latest version of IE. WHen you use IE7 to visit these Web sites, the Web sites incorrectly identify it as an outdated version.
There is a free tool to work around this. The tool creates a browser window that emulates IE6,tricking the Web site into playing nice. Free here. go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=70356To use it,double-click the User Agent string Utility icon. C Lick "just change my settings." click "change setings".

Hey there, Just going to preface this with the fact that I know very little about computers! I have a game website that I would like to use but every time I try to load it I get the "cannot load webpage" message. Problem is that the page loads just fine until that comes up, and then it is removed from the screen. The website is working because I can use it on my phone, and the saved links on my computer (used to play on the site a bunch with my son but haven't for nearly a year) work just fine to play the games. It is just the website I cannot seem to access without explorer booting me off!

The diagnose problem thing says to turn on the Tcp setting but that just made things worse so I found out how to turn it off and did so.

I think I am running explorer 7 on the basic Windows Vista (yes I know it all sucks but I'm broke, and don't know any different!)

My son asked today if we could play games together again because he missed doing that so I would REALLY like to get this working!

Thanks to anyone that can help!

Hi,

I am unable to access a particular website that many others have no problem accessing. In addition a few days ago I accessed it with no problem.

I contacted the website owner who had their programmers confirm that the website is not down and is working perfectly fine.

So I turned to my ISP ( Comcast) and after chatting with 5 different tech support reps and running the following tests I am still unable to access this website. elertgadget.com.

1. Cleared Cache
2. Tried Firefox & IE
3. Reset my router
4. Reset my entire network
5. Pinged the site = sent 4 packets and lost 4 packets
6. Ran ipconfig/release
7. Ran ipconfig/renew
8. Ran ipconfig/flushdns
9.Ran ipconfig/registerdns
10. Turned off Windows Firewall
11. Added site to approved sites
12. Confirmed with Comcast that they are not blocking this site.
13. Assigned Specific DNS servers.

Comcast tech support at a loss of what else to try. Hoping that someone here can help me as I really need access to this site.

Thanks.

Also when I enter the url and press enter, it goes to a google search with a very long url, this doesn't happen with any other url.

A:Cannot access one specific website

Three things to try:

1) from a DOS window type "ping www.worldofwarcraft.com". You should get 4 ping packets that are echoed if working correctly.

2) from a DOS window type "tracert www.worldofwarcraft.com". You get an echo from each of the routers from you home to world of warcrafts server. If it stops somewhere you are being blocked. If you being blocked, complain to your ISP. Make sure the blocking is not done by your router.

3) Boot you computer in safe mode <F8> with network installed. Now try to get to www.world...com . If you do get there then you have a firewall problem. If you don't then your ISP could be blocking that site.

4) Your home network router could have that site blocked. The ping and tracert commands above will stop at your router. (one bounce) The router could be setup so as to filter out the ping icmp packets.

5) Try from a DOS window "telnet www.world...com 80". This might give you some kind of error message. Your turning "telnet" into the worlds-dumbest-web-browser. Typing garbage will give back error messages and dump you out of telnet.

6) From your browser enter "http://12.129.242.22/". This is the IP address of worldofwarcraft.com. If this works, you have an extremely stale DNS server someplace. Complain to your ISP.

Good luck.

PS. Worldofwarcraft.com is hosted on ATT.com server some place. They just bought Cingular. You could be out of luck.

A:Cant access a specific Website

A tracert for me gets to the same place as yours and times out the same way, but I can access the site.

Your IP is on some blacklists. Those blacklists are for email, but some sites use them to block access. So, that's one possibility. IF this is the case you will probably need to work with the site or your ISP to get the IP removed from the blacklist.

Hello,

I'm having trouble accessing a specific website, and I'm hoping someone will be able to help me diagnose or solve the problem. The website in question is www.barhah.com. This is not a continuous problem, I can get there most of the time, but a intermittetent intervals, usually lasting 2 to 3 hours, I get timeouts when attempting to visit the site. During these intervals some friends of mine verify that they can still get there, and I can still get there using a proxy, so the problem seems to be something on my end. This started about a week ago, and the access problems happen about once per day, but with no other pattern that I can see.

Solutions I've tried are:

- Using a different browser.
- Turning off my firewall.
- Rebooting my computer.
- Rebooting my router.

None of these have helped.

When unable to access the site, I get this traceroute:

I'd say it's a problem with your ISP, they probably are having routing issues on the network near you. I've seen this kind of thing a number of times with Comcast.

Yes, I was wondering if anybody could help me. I am somewhat familiar with blocking websites in the host file but I do not want to block the whole website just a profile from being veiwed within the website. The site is http://www.vampirefreaks.com and this is the url of the profile i want to block http://vampirefreaks.com/u/jackofalltrades

Is there any way that I can specifically block just that profile from being veiwed so that my daughter can still use vampirefreaks.com without knowing that I blocked that profile from being veiwed?

I've never attemped this, but have you tried just putting the whole url in the blocked websites option under internet options?

Hello, I'm completely stumped about why I can't reach one specific website. This is on my home PC which is running Windows Vista Ultimate using IE 8 (Version 8.0.6001.18783) as well as Firefox Version 3.0.11.

I am able to connect to every website with out a problem except for http://nickyhaydenfanforum.forumcommunity.net/ I'm not able to get to this one website using either IE 8 or Firefox on my home PC. I've emailed one of the moderators who has told me that the sight is up and running fine. Also, I'm able to connect to the website on my windows XP work laptop that is running IE 6 when at home using the same home router and cable modem to connect to the internet.

I was able to reach the sight a couple of months ago from this Vista machine but now I'm not able to at all. This is a complete mystery to me and I'm wondering if anyone can please help me.

Thank you very much!
Tony

Hi all,

I'm a fairly advanced user who is virtually always able to solve my own problems. This one is either extremely sticky, or so obvious that I'm dumbly missing it!!

I recently backed up my system, reformatted my boot drive and reinstalled Windows XP. For years I have used SP1, but this time I opted to do the full update to SP2, despite the fact that I trust myself to avoid most all security issues and threats.

Since this new reinstall, for some bizarre reason, there is ONE particular, specific website to which I cannot browse. I'm not sure if the site itself is relevant, but just to be thorough in my description, it's 'comcast.net'. I'm a Comcast broadband customer and need to utilize the site occasionally to manage my account settings. When attempting to browse the site, I get the 'standard issue' IE error message:

>>>
The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.
etc, etc, etc...
>>>

This is, quite literally -- in the almost 1 month since the new install -- the ONLY website on which I have found this to occur. I have experienced no other web browsing issues.

I tried manually reset IE's security settings to LOW, and that did not help, but anyways I'm confident it's not a browser issue, because I have the exactly same problem in Firefox.

I've been having this issue for a week now, and I can't for my bare life figure out what's wrong. Every time try to reach this website, the same message comes up: "Sorry, Google Chrome can't connect to utdanning.ostfoldfk.no". At first I thought it was a problem with my internet connection because as soon as I connected to a different network, it worked just fine, but then I tried with a different computer (on the network I thought there was something wrong with), and it was working just fine then. Obviously I thought there was something wrong with my computer then, so I restored and reset the entire system on my computer, but the website is still not showing and I'm starting to become kinda desperate here.

Anyone got any ideas what the problem might be? I figured it might be a problem with the network and my computer as a combo, but I'm kind of an idiot with computers, so I don't really know what to do. Help?

I just installed a new PC (nothing fancy, W7, clean install) but I can't get to a website I need for work.

It works on another PC on the same network - and on my phone on the same wifi. I can also get on to another website which is hosted in the same place.

FYI the website is http://www.psd.scot.nhs.uk/

There is a VPN that I use to get in to secure NHS stuff - but it doesn't make any difference if it's connected or not - and it shouldn't as that's a public website.

Sometimes it times out and sometimes I just get an error that says "can't find server". It's never opened on that PC though.

I've tried FF, chrome and IE and it's always the same.

Any tips where should I start to diagnose the problem?

It's got up to date AV and Spybot S&D hasn't shown anything.

Thanks.

See if changing your DNS servers to OpenDNS will work. If you currently have any DNS server addresses listed write them down in case you need to revert back.

After inputting the OpenDNS server addresses flush DNS and delete your Browser cache.

Hello, about a week ago, I began receiving an "unable to connect" message every time I tried to connect to The Kansas State Historical Society website
www.kshs.org. Prior to this occurring, my ISP, Frontier communications had a service outage and I had to contact them to go through a series of steps to restore service. Since then, my problem reared its ugly head. I am using a Windows 7 os, and have no apparent problems connecting to any other websites. This morning I stopped by the library and was able to pull up the site with no problem. I use this site frequently and could really use some advice. Thanks

Hi!

I wasn't sure if this should go in the "web & Email" or the "networking" catagory, so I'll just post it here.

Ok, here's one heck of a weird problem: I cannot in any absolute way, connect to www.lockerz.com, including tracart, ping or whatnot.

hings I tried in my quest for an answer:

1) I checked the hosts file, its' not hijacked, heck im using mcaffee, nothing can pass it - and no, its' not the reason because i could go the website untill it stopped working for no apparent reason yesterday.

2) I checked alot of forums and nothing. nobody can figure it out. I reseted the windows' xp tcp/ip, I tried different DNS' (open dns, google dns).

3) I took my friends laptop and connected it directly to my socket to check if the ISP\IP are faulty, and no, the website works just fine on his laptop - which means the problem is my pc.

4) I tried removing the network adapter, LITTERALY out of the pc, reinstall it, and no, it still hasn't worked.

5) I reinstalled internet explorer, tried firefox, opera, chrome and safari, but still, this single website, doesn't load.

6) I even added the websites' own IP to my hosts file just incase my windows can't resolve the hostname on its own, and still it doesn't work.

Any help?

Thanks alot in advance...

P.S.
I do NOT want to reinstall win xp.. i really don't wanna go through the hell of reinstalling win xp...

For some reason, there is a specific website that I cannot access. I am a member of the website and they have a community forum for contacting them and requesting support, but obviously I cannot contact them if I cannot access their site!

The website is www.onbux.com. I read in another post that I should do the TRACERT command and post the results so I am doing that here.

Thanks.

I'm running a machine with Windows Professional 7 version 6.1 (build 7601:service pack1)

I first noticed this issue in Itunes. I am subscribed to about 10 podcasts, and about a month ago, two of them stopped downloading. I would get an error message "stopped (err -3259) However, the other podcasts continued to download without issue. A Google search of that message indicated some kind of nebulous networking error, with the general recommendation to turn off your antivirus software and try again. I run Microsoft security essentials, I tried turning that off, as well as the Windows Defender firewall, neither had any effect on the error.

One of the podcasts is On the Media. Next, I noticed that if I went to Onthemedia.org and tried to play the podcast directly from the website, that also did not work. We have a Netgear wireless router, and an Iphone connected to that router will play the podcast from onthemedia.org. Also a laptop running Windows XP connected wirelessly to the router will play the podcast from the website. Also, a desktop hardwired to the router running Ubuntu will play the podcast from onthemedia.org.

I tried running the computer in Windows booted in Safe mode w/networking. That did not work.

I tried using MSCONFIG to turn off all non-microsoft services except iTunesHelper and qttask, and trying to download the podcast again in Itunes. (suggestion from apple.com) That did not work.

This is not a streaming audio issue, as I can stream audio from NPR... Read more

onthemedia.org seems to host their podcast files on the server 69.16.232.36 which is the podtrac.com domain. Since you said that you have no problem with streaming audio, but only a problem with a specific site, you may have some errors in your hosts file.

Do me a favor and go to "%SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts" but DO NOT EDIT ANYTHING. Make sure that there isn't anything telling your computer that podtrac.com is something other than 69.16.232.36.

So, I just created an account, excuse me if I sound stupid.

Anyway.
I have been using www.ninjavideo.net to watch TV shows for about a year now - I have the DivX player and everything - and as of recently it does not work anymore. It's not that I can't view things on the website, it's that I can't get to the website in general, and I figure it must be a problem specific to me because all other websites work and nobody else seems to be having this problem.

What happens when I try to access the website is this:
It loads for a really long time and then says "Done", but there is just a blank white page, or it re-directs me to websites that I do not wish to be directed to.

I am using Windows Vista and Firefox and I have avast! anti-virus installed. ANY help whatsoever would be incredibly beyond helpful.

Thanks!

I've searched around these forums and other forums for solutions, but nothing I've read has helped.

I'm trying to access my own website (www.fbod.net) and it won't load for me. I know for a fact that other people can access it. Nobody in my apartment can access the website (we're all on the same router).

I use Windows XP and Firefox. When I try to load the site I don't get an error, it just attempts to load indefinitely.

I have gone to Windows\system32\drivers\etc and checked the hosts file.

I've tried ipconfig /flushdns

I can ping the website and I get 4 packets sent, 4 packets received.

I cannot load the website by entering the IP adresss into the address window.

I cannot access my website through an FTP program. I get this error:
COMMAND:> LIST
STATUS:> Connecting data socket...
150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for file list
STATUS:> 0 bytes in 90 seconds
COMMAND:> ABOR
STATUS:> Received 1009 bytes, Abnormal termination Click to expand...

I am able to access the website through a proxy site (www.phproxy.org).

As far as I know I don't have a firewall running.

I did find one website that suggested switching to a static IP, but when I tried that I lost my internet connection and it didn't come back until I reverted my settings. I may have just done it wrong, though.

I have a website that I run on wordpress that is hosted bluehost. From time to time when I am working on it I suddenly cannot browse to the backend system or to the actual website I am running. I believe this issue is isolation to MY computer because:

Others on the same wireless router in my house can browse to the site.

When I change my internet source for my computer to a cellular hotspot I still cannot browse to the site.

I do not have issues in my host file. I have tried to flush DNS. And, my firewall is turned off. These are the solutions I have read on other posts.

Sometimes if I restart my computer it solves the problem. Sometimes not. Anyone have any advice? HELP!

For the past couple of days, if I try and access any images on imgur.com or i.imgur.com I am recieveing an error:
Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): The connection was reset.

This happens on all browsers, and the website is definitely working normally for others.
I have reset my router numerous times, I have tried switching to openDNS, I have checked proxy settings (which I have not touched since a formatting), I had not fiddled with any of my router settings prior. I have disabled antivirus, firewalls, tried turning on DMZ, and nothing is changing.

I am able to load the website www.imgur.com, I see the layout with no images loading, and if I click a specific image, I recieve the 101 error.

Any insight or advice would be great. I'm using a 2wire 3801HGV.

Today I tried getting on filehippo.com to check for updates on my computer. As far as any browser on my computer is concerned, filehippo.com does not exist. I get redirected to my ISP's page that comes up when you type in a webpage that is nonexistent. I have ran AVG, my computer is clean. I have checked sites that report site outages and file hippo is reported to be up and running fine. I have not changed any security settings on my computer or browser. I have not downloaded anything in several weeks. I have also tried accessing filehippo from my phone and can do so with no problem.

Working in a network environment, I'm able to log into a secured banking website from every computer except the one that I need to do it from. I'm not sure if IE is the culprit, but I'm out of other ideas. It's the only machine running XP on the network, but it was able to log in a few weeks ago and now it just says invalid user at every login attempt. The machine is able to surf to all other websites and I know it's not a username/password issue. Anyone have any ideas?

A:Unable to log on to a specific secure website

Have you checked your security settings? Tools > Internet Options > Security

You may also want to go to the "Privacy" tab and make sure it is set to medium (you might be able to set it higher, but it might block some cookies you want)

This is a problem someone posted on another board I frequent. Basically, this guy built this site for his wife and it appears that he has identified that people with Verizon DSL have problems getting to it - it times out. I'm on SBC DSL and have no problems getting to it.

Here is the link: http://zoyaphoto.com

Here is the IP Address: 68.101.40.34

Seems to me that it would be a DNS issue, but this guy has had Verizon users try to browse to the actual IP address and it still didn't work.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

I am a emeber of music site Emusic.com, and have all of a sudden not been able to access their website through either internet explorer or avant browser(about 2 weeks).

I can access all other websites as normal, but i get a "Cannot find server or DNS Error"page come up when i go to access their site.

I have emailed emusic, but have received nothing constructive back from them. I havn't tried accessing their site through a friends PC yet, but presume their site is still up and running as I have received new music emails from them.

I have tried turning of my firewall and accessing the site, and linking the site through search engines, but neither has worked.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi, I'm new here but stumbled across this forum whilst looking for help resolving a problem I'm currently having.

Lately I have been unable to access one of my favourite websites (a fan site for one of my favourite bands), but I know from other people that they are still able to access this site. I have tried scanning my PC for viruses and spyware and this had made no difference, and so I assume there must be some other problem but I don't really understand what it could be.

As my first though was that the problem was a virus I tried asking in the Internet & Networking/Security forum, in the following thread.

http://forums.techguy.org/security/432624-cant-access-certain-website.html

I've tried everything that they've suggested but I'm still having no joy, and so I'm hoping that maybe somebosy in this section may be able to help.........pretty please!!

Hey guys, I am facing this problem since yesterday. When I try to access Gizmo's Freeware | Find the best freeware fast, I'm getting timeout errors. I tried using different browsers but got the same result. All other websites loads fine in my browsers.

I checked http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ and found that it's just me who's facing this problem.

I also did a "tracert" from command prompt and got request timed out in the 19th hop at 209.59.157.128

I work at a small computer shop and a few days ago an HP pc came in with the ambiguous note "runs slow."For the afternoon I did the usual. Install and run Malwarebytes a number of times, in safe-mode and in normal. Remove toolbars and bloatware and disable unnecessary startup items. A large number of infected objects were found by Malwarebytes and after the other steps the computer was running just fine, so I had the customer come pick it up.The next day the same customer called back and said the computer is acting up the same way, something about an error message. To avoid any confusion over the phone, I just told her to bring it back and show me the message. It turns out that whenever she navigates to Facebook the page just diverts to res://C:\windows\system32\shdoclc.dll/navcancl.htm. Every other page works just fine. This still keeps happening even after I've gotten to the point where Malwarebytes is unable to find any infected objects.(hjt log is attached)I installed Firefox and was able to get to Facebook from that, and they have Safari on the desktop so I tried that, and that one works, too. But not Internet Explorer. They had 7, so I recently just downloaded and updated to 8 and it's acting the same way.I checked the host file and there's nothing in there blocking or redirecting it.

A:Specific website diverts to /navcancl.htm

I was trying to load Valve's program Steam earlier, and was having problems updating the program due to a connectivity issue with the steam servers.

I tried loading their website, www.steampowered.com, and only a portion of the site loaded.

I can ping and traceroute the site fine, but I cannot seem to get the update from the website (via the program), and I cannot download any files from the website (via firefox).

The error just arose today out of the blue. Could it be a simple dns or connection issue (I have had similar problems in the past that just "fixed" themselves.)

Here's a copy of a HT! log, any thoughts/comments are greatly appreciated.

I'd like to block access to a specific website across my entire home network. I'd prefer to do it from one location, rather than on each computer. I have a WRH54G Linksys wireless router; I heard that I can access some central control there to block websites; but I've tried many password combos without success ([none]/admin; [none]/Admin; admin/[none]; Admin/[none]; admin/admin; Administrator/admin; Administor/Admin; ) etc. I'd prefer not to pay for anything, if possible. How do I do this?

I'm using Vista, but I'd like this to work on XP (pro, SP2/SP3) as well. I'd like this to work for IE6, IE7, <strong>and</strong> IE8 if possible...definately IE 6 and IE7. If it works for Firefox or Chrome, all the better.

Thanks.

A:How do I block access to a specific website?

Step 1: Click the Start button and select Run. Now type the following text in that Run box:

notepad c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Step 2: You will see a new notepad window on your screen containing some cryptic information. Don’t panic. Just goto the last line of the file, hit the enter key and type the following:

127.0.0.1 orkut.com
127.0.0.1 facebook.com
127.0.0.1 myspace.com

Save the file and exit. That’s it. None of the above sites will now open on your computer.

You can block as many websites as you like with the above technique. If you want to remove the ban later, open the same file as mentioned in Step 1 and delete the above lines.
i think it will work somebody told me abt this but i havn't tried it myself coz i m a adult :D

Hello everyone.
I've been experiencing this problem ever since I bought a new laptop in march.
I just simply can't access to this website (it's a Korean website: www.pann.nate.com)

I thought it was a simple error on Google Chrome, so I tried to access it on IE, Firefox, etc. I always got the same results that I couldn't access it. I checked my antivirus program and firewall, the website wasn't blocked.

I was able to go on the website using the ip address, but when I wanted to proceed further into it (For example, to read an article), it would show me the same page as when I couldn't access to it.
I've also tried using the Google DNS server, but it didn't work as well.

Could anyone please help me out?

Thank you

I hope there is some expert here that can figure this one out. I have tried everything.

The website is www.streamingradioguide.com

I am unable to access it through Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Opera.

I am able to access it if I go into my AOL program and use the Explorer that comes with that.

I am able to ping the website, and changing the DNS server doesn't help at all.

I can't access it by using the http://64.202.100.247 directly either, unless I go into the AOL program.

I have checked the Host file, and nothing is wrong with it either. Any ideas? Thanks!

A:Unable to access one specific website

I got the answer to my own question. The website blocked me out because I have AVG antivirus, and it checks each web link for safety.

The website blocks those kinds of site out.

He will restore my access.

I was on a website, exited out, and tried to get back on not five minutes later. I can no longer access the website on any browser. I type the address into the address bar, hit enter, and a message comes up asking how I want to open the website- by saving it, or by opening with an app- as if I'm trying to download a file. I'm on an ASUS laptop with a Windows 8.1 OS. Not sure if this is a computer issue or browser issue.

Hey, so I just bought a new laptop mainly so I could play this game called 'AruaOnline' and out of nowhere all of my characters (it's an MMORPG) got disconnected, I ran launcher.exe (the launcher for the game) after like a minute or two it says 'Failed to get launcher version' which usually happens when I have no internet connection. Anyways, so I went on the forums, [forum.aruarose.com] and it worked fine, I started to make a thread about it and then when I clicked on 'Post thread' it started loading and took forever and then I got to a page where it said something like 'Webpage unavailabe, try diagnose connection' and the website is not down, few of my friends can access the game and website perfectly. I even went through a proxy site to view my thread but now I can't even do it on a proxy site, it just refreshes the page. Please help me if you can, thanks, Daniel.
Edit: Also I can't access it on my old laptop now either.
If you need more information let me know.
