. NET Framework 4 updates made before Framework 4 was installed – upda

Q: . NET Framework 4 updates made before Framework 4 was installed – upda

I installed the latest updates to .NET Framework 4 and later installed software that required me to install .NET Framework 4. Would be updates still be in effect or should I install them again?

A: . NET Framework 4 updates made before Framework 4 was installed – upda

It sounds like your installer was confused more than anything else - Do a manual check for updates, and if it comes up clear, then you don't need any

OK, I do understand that some software is designed to work with a specific version of .NET, and that one attempting to interface with .NET might not work if the version is newer than expected. But c'mon... how many programs are out there using .NET framework 2.0? Is it really necessary to have it installed? I can understand version 3.5, but 2.0 seems like really old hat...

Hi I tried twice today to download and install the following updates, Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) x86. it is a large update taking approx 30mins to download the 248MB package. Both times it got to the end of the download and the next I got was a message saying installation failed. At first I thought it was Comodo BoClean so turned it off the second time but got the same result anyway.
My PC is an AMD Athlon XP2400+, 1GB of RAM running on XP3 and updated via Automatic Updates "notify but do not install". I got a MSN email notification on IE8 RC1 and decided to check my Firewall connection to Microsoft Update, where I was told that the mentioned updates were available and decided to install them though not IE8 at this time.

For real time protection I use Comodo CIS, Comodo BoClean and SpywareBlaster. I switched off BoClean the second time and set CIS to installation mode both times. I cannot see anything else on my PC which could hinder the installation process. In my Add/Remove program list I have Microsoft .NET Framework versions 1.1,1.1 Hotfix, 2.0 Service Pack1, 3.0 Service Pack1, 3.5, Should I uninstall these before installing the latest version or should they all remain on my installed programs?. I would appreciate it if someone could offer some help here as I like to keep my PC up to date.

Hi .Well...let's start with the reason you have MS .NET installed on your system. What applications/drivers do you use which require any version? If you have no such applications...IMO it's not even necessary to install any version of MS .NET on a system. Doing so is a waste of time for those who don't have applications which demand MS .NET.http://forums.techarena.in/customize-xp/866859.htmLouis

Hi

What error is it giving?
Are you trying to install via Automatic Update?
Have you tried to download manually and install?
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1

You can also run the .Net Framework Cleanup Tool (Direct Download) and remove .Net Framework 3.5 then try to reinstall.

You can also read this post for more troubleshooting steps.

I haven't downloaded this update as I have dial-up and it says 26-48 hours to update this. Also, I had to reformat my computer three times with the SP3, even downloading from disk instead of internet - so scared to download Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) x86 as don't want to have to reformat (and also don't want my computer running for 2-3 days to download).
Are there problems with this download like there were with SP3 (I ended up never being able to have a working computer with SP3)? Do I need this update? Will there be problems if I download from internet, and if not any other ways to update this (for free)?
Thank you.

I have the task of resolving a .NET Framework issue on a friends HP laptop running Windows XP. It seems that whenever the system starts up, an error message is displayed as follows:

hpqthb08.exe - .NET Framework initialization error. To run this application you first must install one of the following versions of the .NET Framework: v1.1.4322

I have tried to run MS updates and they fail due to this issue and when I try to remove it from the laptop I get a query for a missing file: s867460.msp. I've tried to remove it in order to re-install it thinking that the file hpqthb08.exe is somehow corrupted. However all de-installation attempts fail seeking the location of this s867460.msp file. I cannot locate a download for this file and at the moment have no idea where to turn.

Any ideas?

I just finished a 69mb download for .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update For .NETVersions 2.0 thru 3.5. This update also added an addon in Firefox named Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant 1.0.Does anyone have any comments on whether to allow this addon or not? It can be disabled. There are 2 options in the addon. The first option is to prompt or not to prompt before running Click Once Applications. I chose PROMPT. The second option was to Report All Versions of .net or only the latest version. The default is to report onlythe latest and I left it like that. What the heck are Click Once Applications? Just a note to anyone reading this and haven't installed this month's Windows Updates. This update is notan "unattended" update for everyone. My ZA firewall asked me for permission for two different elements to access the net half way thru the install process. I also noticed even after Windows said to reboot to complete, there was still a lot of processor activity for 2 or 3 minutes.EDIT:I found the info I was looking for in Wikipedia. Anyone else interested, here is the link.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ClickOnce

I chose not to allow it (I don't use Firefox, IE is fine with me)...I'm not crazy about unnecessary browser addons or "assistants" of any type.

I believe that these are unnecessary for anyone who knows how do the basic things on any PC, I think they are created for users who are less than knowledgeable.

Ok, sunk a couple hours into what the problem is, unfortunately I cannot work out how to fix it short of reinstalling my operating system (If I take it off, I refuse to put it back on, to many headaches already).

Basically I needed to update to .net framework 4, and my system lied and said it was done successfully. I then tried to update to XNA framework 4, and got;

"The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2908"

Followed by;

"An error occurred during the installation of
assembly 'microsoft.xna.framework.avatar,fileversion="4.020823.0",version="4.0.0.00000",culture="neutral",pub licKeyToken="842CF8BE1DE50553",processorArchitecture="MSIL". Please refer to help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x8002802F"

Which, when I googled it, told me I wasn't alone at least.

I started looking at the 2908 error and found a few links to the Microsoft answers page, an answer and a line of people basically saying that the answer did not work. Rather than including myself in their number, I kept looking, and found the sfc/scannow command (Which refuses to run,"windows resource protection could not start the repair service"(Why don't these messages ever tell me <WHY>?)), and at Microsoft XNA Framework 4.0 problem | Terraria Online

Tried everything. From adding full user control to trusted installer and creator/owner in Windows/Microsoft. net and Program Data directories to therepair service verifier, making sure virus scanner is off, fixit solutions, sfc /scannow's clean bill of health, uninstalling a few upgrades mentioned with .netframe 4.0 and 3.5 etc etc. I get a fatal error if I try to uncheck .net 3.5 (the only version I can see since all other have been uninstalled) in 'turn windows features on and off), smartmsizap, msiinv, Smart boot(cold boot? with the startup items not checked and initial boot config). I think something is wrong here with either registry or program permissions because the initial 4.5.1/4.5.2 install zips to a random c:/ directory and then it asks me to find netfx_core_x64.msi which I point to in that directory, but says it is not the netfx_core_x64.msi that came with the installation.

As of current, I do not have any working .net framework which is bad because 1) some progrmas, ie video games require it 2) my schoolwork/development environments need it for things like Git

Another weird thing is although I manually installed net framework 1.1, only 3.5 shows up in the 'turn windows features on or off' and I can't 'uncheck' it or add the sub trees underneath it. Almost like it is not there but doesn't want to install additional componenets or be completely uninstalled.

I installed the software suite for a Lexmark X7675 printer in Windows 8.1 64bit and it says I need to install Framework 2.0 before it will run.  I downloaded and installed Framework 2.0 but when I click on the Lexmark icon it says I need Framework 2.0 installed to run.  I checked and framework 2.0 shows up as installed.

What could I have overlooked that would prevent Framework 2.0 from working properly?

A:I installed Framework 2.0 in Win 8.1 but app will not run

Totally stupid - but it could be the sequence !

Now that you have Framework 2 installed, uninstall ALL your printer drivers and re-install them. This way, Framework 2 is already installed when your printer goes looking for it.

Also check the installation sequence for your printer - printers are notoriously fussy about the sequence of the installation process. If you still have the 'quick install' guide for the printer, have a look at it. If you haven't, you can almost certainly download a copy from the Lexmark web-site.

To make sure that you have got rid of all traces of the printer drivers before re-installing, run the Revo uninstaller, which you can download from here -

Greetings, excuse my English, install Net framework 3.5 on Windows 10 as a program I request me.
After installation, run Windows Update to download any updates but there are none.
That is why net framework 3.5 requires updates for Windows 10?
Thanks in advance.

A:Updates .Net framework 3.5

In order to proceed to see Net Framework 4.5 being the latest update for that to go on you first have to each the previous versions going back a few install first. You wouldn't install 10 before XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 but upgrade from since 10 is the newest out. Likewise the lower numbered Net Framework version goes on in the same progression. before. 3.5 there was 2.0 and before that back in 2002 was the first Net Framework 1.0. .NET Framework version history - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Just built a new computer and set up Windows 7 Professional 64bit. I've installed all available updates.

I have windows update set to notify me but not download or install so I choose when to do that.

I keep getting the same two available updates and installing them successfully:

- Security Update for .NET Framework 3.5.1 on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 fo x64- based Systems (KB2446710)

- Security Update for .NET Framework 3.5.1 on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 fo x64- based Systems (KB2478662)

They always install successfully but they keep coming back.

If I go to the update install history, I see many instances of these two being installed.
If I go to Programs and Features and Installed Updates I only see .NET Framework 4.6.1.
And If I just go to Programs and Features I also see 4.6.1.

I've run chkdsk and also SFC with no problems.

Not sure why I have two versions of .NET and why I keep getting 3.5.1 over and over.
Should I try to uninstall both version then run windows update again? Should I run the windows update troubleshooter app?

Thank you.

I've attached some screenshots.

A:Multiple versions of .NET Framework installed

Every program will use the version of the .NET Framework it is built for. The programs built under .NET Fw 1.0 will work with the .NET Fw 1.0, the ones developed for .NET Fw 3.0 will work with 3.0 and so on. There is no problem if you have more then one version of .NET Fw installed, they will not interfere with each other.
Uninstalling any .Net Framework may make the particular program that uses that version of .Net Framework not function.

Hey guys,

After installing these two updates:

Update to .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 for the .NET Framework Assistant x64 (KB963707)

My question is:

Are these updates really necessary for my PC; do I absolutely need them?

A:Question Regarding .NET Framework Updates

More and more apps rely on the .Net framework, and without those updates you may experience problems or outright failures at some point.

I don't doubt what you're saying regarding your observations of the speed of your machine with and without those updates, but that situation is not normal. Literally millions of PCs sport those same updates and they certainly don't experience user-perceptible performance degredation. In your case, it may be related to problems in one or more (.Net) apps which you use all the time, or perhaps the underlying OS installation is subtly broken... not enough info for useful guesses just yet.

If you're keen to troubleshoot, you may want to reapply the updates so that you can pinpoint something specific which is then far slower. Once you've got a specific problem in your sights, it becomes easier to test possible solutions.

Are these necessary? I know not critical, but is everyone getting these? If so, why?

Good day,

A while ago a game on my PC needed .NET Framework 3.5 so I enabled it in the Windows-features options. After that, there were some security updates for .NET Framework that I installed through Windows Update. After I finished the game I uninstalled it and also disabled the .NET Framework 3.5 again via the Windows-features options. However, I can see in the updates section of the Windows programs and features that the .NET Framework security updates are still installed on my PC.

There's a new game I installed yesterday that needed the .NET Framework 3.5 so I enabled it again. However, Windows update is not giving me any of the security updates again since they're already installed on my computer.

Question: Do these updates regarding .NET Framework, even after disabling and enabling the .NET Framework 3.5, still work and function properly for it? Shouldn't I uninstall these updates and install them through Windows update again since I disabled the .NET Framework before?

A:Question about .NET Framework updates

That all sounds pretty normal to me. Once you have enabled a feature and installed any updates required by that feature then disabling that option at some future point will not uninstall those updates. There is no reason to because the .net framework is part of the OS, it wouldn't be logical to take the OS to an earlier state. Its all ready to go next time you enable it and in fact there could well be more updates needed by that time.

So all normal.

Howdy!I've been dealing with Gringo_pr in the malware/viruses/trojan section and have received some spectacular assistance! While cleaning the machines an issue came up that wasn't as important as removing nasties from my machines. It has been a problem for awhile but I made the assumption it was due to the malware that was present. Evidently it is not.I have 2 machines that have d/l'ed but will not install 6 .Net framework security updates. They are;KB 2418241KB 2416447KB 983583KB 951847KB 982524KB 982168I have tried to install them one at a time. I have tried to install them on shut down. I have tried to install them all at once. They simply will not install. One of them, KB 982168, will say 'Done!' but when the machine reboots it is still in the install list. I have looked in the Add/Remove program and it doesn't show up in the updates ....I'm thinking I might have to uninstall/reinstall the .Net framework but I'll need some help with that if I have to go there. What I have on these machines as far as the .Net framework goes is;.Net framework 1.1.Net framework 2.0 SP 2.Net framework 3.0 SP 2.Net framework 3.5 SP 1That is what is showing in the Add/Remove program.Any ideas as to what may have happened or what I may need to do to be able to install these updates? Any help will be appreciated!KCOn Edit; It might be nice if I told you I am running Win XP SP 3

A:.Net framework updates won't install

The .NET framework is a mess when the install messes up, I found that a clean intsall made it easier. You can go through the add/remove programs route and the trouble shooters at MS Support but it is painful, I think I eventualy went with a tool by Aaron Strebner. But the process is such a pain, I would recomend the clean install. I work in an environment where data back up and reinstalling is often easier than messing with it.

That and $1.95 will buy you a cup of coffee.

I hope this is the correct thread for this kind of problem.

This past Tuesday (July 9) Microsoft had a big update dump, including many updates to different versions of .NET Framework. I've never had trouble with them before, but I sure did this time.

The 1.1 Service Pack update (KB2833941) couldn't be downloaded, and none of the others (2.0, 3.0, 3.5) will download, either. I went to the Microsoft Community Board, and was advised to uninstall 1.1, then use the Microsoft Framework Clean Up Tool. After doing so, I still couldn't install the update; I got the error message "WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\mscorwks.dll could not be loaded". I do have this file on my system.

Then I was advised to uninstall 2.0. I couldn't do it through Add/Remove programs, so I used the Clean Up tool, as instructed. But now I can't reinstall 2.0, and the other updates still won't install.

I have a lot of errors in my Event Viewer, including Native Wrapper, .NET Runtime Optimization, and COM+ errors.

I tried using the Microsoft telephone service, but they just want to charge me $99 that I don't have.

I am now very confused. I just want to fix this problem so the regular XP and IE updates can be downloaded; right now the Microsoft Updates site won't let me check them until I download the .NET Framework 3.5 update, but that aborts also.

Help! Thanks very much.

Hiya

This update applies to users of the .NET Framework SDK version 1.0. This patch will install a specially adapted SQL Server Service Pack 3 for MSDE 2000.

This Service Pack provides additional security for MSDE 2000 as installed by the .NET Framework SDK “QuickStarts” feature. In order to upgrade MSDE 2000 as installed by the .NET Framework SDK version 1.0 you must apply this update.

If you have installed Visual Studio .NET you should apply this patch in addition to the generic SQL Server Service Pack 3.

This patch protects MSDE 2000 from W32.Slammer worm as detailed at: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/security/virus/alerts/slammer.asp

If you are not sure whether or not you have MSDE 2000 as installed by the “QuickStart” samples you can verify by reviewing instructions in the FAQ at: http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/downloads/updates/sdkfix/default.asp

NOTE: If you don’t have the .NET Framework SDK 1.0 installed on your machine but you have a version of MSDE 2000 please follow the instructions at http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/security/virus/alerts/slammer.asp to apply the generic SQL Server 2000 service pack 3.

System Requirements
Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP
You must have the .NET Framework SDK 1.0 or Visual Studio .NET 2002 installed on your machine.

I manage to do a stand alone install for .net framework 4 but it wont let me get the updates for the security through the windows update and keeps coming up with this error:

.Netframework security patch error:
ngen.exe entry point not found. the procedure entry point CLRCreateInstance could not be locate in the dynamic link library mscoree.dll but all other updates
are fine..

I also have this same problem with microsoft fixit tool..

anyone got any solutions how to fix this nagging problem.

Welcome to Seven Forums Nev4rForgotten. I personally take all the .net updates. But I also make system images before I do, just in case (I make weekly images anyway). The last (5/8) updates were security updates to prevent remote code execution. I think if you have .net installed, you should take the updates. Many recommend waiting to see if there are reported issues before installing, but do not skip them entirely.

This morning, I noted the M$ update gold shield in my systray indicating updates had been downloaded. There were 3 updates, all for various versions of .NET Framework. A minute or two after they installed (with no error messages, and update history indicated the updates were all successful), the shield shows up again indicating the SAME updates were ready to be installed. Thinking maybe it might have been updates to the updates, I went ahead and installed those, and everything again installed successfully. Then once again, the shield shows up with the SAME updates.

At this point I turned automatic updates off and ran "Fix-it", which did find a problem with automatic updates and said it was fixed. Turned auto updates back on. Shield immediately shows up again with the same 3 updates. Downloaded and ran M$ Safety Scan, which found no infections (no surprise there; my AV is Avast! and it's absolutely always up to date).

Went to M$ Community and found several others with the same problem, but nobody had an answer and M$ input is absent.

Anybody else with Win XP having this problem. If so, how do you stop the updates from repeating?

Hi

I am sending this from work as I cant actually use my home PC at the moment (not the Win7 OS anyways - the Vista HP SP2 works faultlessly!).

On my home PC's WIN7 OS I have continual 'lockups'...easiest way to describe it. The PC just stops working after a few minutes...my Gadget clock with a second hand just stops - time freezes. The only way to get any action is to hard boot.

So last night I did another system restore back to Sept 21 configuration.

NO PROBLEM with system, worked fine. So I went to Windows Update and downloaded the 5 Office 2007 updates on offer. After, still no problem.

But when wanting to close down I noticed that the PC was offering up the "Shut down and install Updates" pop-up. So I went back to Windows Update to see what was on offer and there were 2 seperate .Net updates (one for Win2000, WinXP and Vista) and the other for WIN7. Also, a Killbits update and a cumulative security update for IE8.

I left all checked and installed all. Rebooted, and ... bugga ... back to the lockedup PC I went!....so ...my longwinded question is...why the 2 .Net updates???

I am going to restore again tonite and then hide the .Net Win2000/XP/Vista .Net update and only install the Win7 one, and I am then one by one going to install the killbits and IE8 updates...to try an isolate the cause.

Failing that...........???

Could prefetch or search function be causiing this? But going from the 'second' hand on my gadget clock, the whole PC is in a froz... Read more

A:2 separate Net framework, an IE8 and killbits updates

Roddy, maaaaate

The .Net updates don't have the architectural wherewithall to completely lock up a machine, though I don't doubt your observations regarding their presence being apparently linked.

Can you explain the symptoms of the "lockup" in greater detail? Does the mouse pointer still move? Does ctrl-shift-esc bring up the Task Manager? Can the machine be pinged from another box on the network? Can you connect to its shares?

Answers to those questions would help us to understand just how "dead" the OS really is, and hence on what level to try troubleshooting.

hi tech guys-

i recently wiped and re-installed my win XP, with SP3 as before. it took me awhile to realize this (distracted by other issues) but pretty well daily i was being advised that i had updates waiting to be installed. most often i'd shut the PC down at night, opting for the updates to happen overnight, after which the PC would supposedly shut down. each morning i'd re-boot and see a message that 6 updates had failed to install. i finally realized that it is the same 6 updates every time, all having to do with the .NET framework. so i've been disregarding the update advisories for a couple of weeks now, but am worried that by not installing the 6 .NET items, i am blocking any chance of windows downloading other, possibly more critical updates. not to mention the possibility that the .NET updates could also be important as well.
is there a manual workaround or some other way i should be approaching this issue?

thanks in advance- MEZZ

So, I got this virus who knows when(it was dormant collecting data for a long time) and after I realized I had it I tried to get rid of it.. Long story short, after formatting several times reinstalling vista..
I still can't get rid of it, I've tried everything I know to get rid of it. It seems to be a rather complex bug. Hello

I've had issues with getting a game to work (GTA IV), and, after some research i've found out that probably reinstalling my microsoft.net framework would fix this problem.

Unfortunately, when I enter the windows uninstalling utility (the one in which all programs are listed) there is no framework version on the list!

I believe they were installed along with OS (which is in my case Windows 7).. In fact i'm sure they're installed, since i manually navigated to the folder containing them and noticed all versions from 1.0 to 3.5.

My question is if there exists a way to fully uninstall those packages, so that I will be able to install them again?

A:Microsoft .NET Framework updates fail to install

.NET Framework is different from other apps. You may or may not need the different versions if they are required by an app. The problem users have is when you uninstall an app that uses .NET Framework, the app leaves .NET Framework behind. To fix this, open Add/Remove Programs and attempt to remove all versions of .NET Framework. If a version can't be removed, leave it alone. That means you need it. After removing all .NET Framework versions, run the cleanup tool at the link below. That should get rid of the updates. You shouldn't need to reinstall the removed versions of .NET Framework.

Hi,

I came back to this forum because last time I had an issue people were very helpful and solved my problem.

My problem now seems to have started when a usual update tried to occur overnight on around the 22nd December.

I noticed that windows did not update and got the error code 80070643 windows has encountered an unknown error.

After trying a few things I decided to reset my laptop (Acer aspire 5741-A) with a back up being kept at C drive/ backup.

That didn't work and since then I did some digging and it looked like there was an error with .NET framework. I can't uninstall or turn on version 3.5 on through Control Panel "Turn Windows features on or off" - so can't seem to fix this problem.

I have tried using the tool that repairs NET framework but that didn't work.
I have also tried the tool that removes individual or all versions but that doesn't work.

Also it the error means that I can't install Microsoft Essentials Security either.

Can anyone help or talk me through what they would do?

Thanks for looking.

Both updates keep installing after successful installing over the last two weeks +. No errors. Ran scannow, no errors. Ran command prompt. fsutil resource setautoreset true %systemdrive%\ and it didn't do anything either. Have uninstalled several times, but it keeps coming back. Ran Fix PC or whatever the Microsoft troubleshooter is and it didn't do anything either. ?

Greetings...
I've researched quite a bit to try and troubleshoot this on my own, but I think my problem stems from the fact that I installed and may be am running the wrong version of Windows Installer on my system. Please don't laugh...do I have a 64bit or an 86bit or am I running Win NT like HiJack This says? I think I installed the WIndows Installer for x86 and not mine...or does it not make a difference. Hence, my WIndows Installer is set up to run automatically in services, but it keeps stopping despite my re-starting it right before I attempt to download the NET Framework updates. I uninstalled the NET 1.1 and 2.0 that I already had on my computer and tried to reinstall them after downloading and running the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. I've unreg'd and reg'd Windows Installer. I attempted to run the WFP Scan and didn't know where I was going with that. I've read and read MS KB articles to a point where I am tired and thinking I might make things worse. I thought about uninstalling Windows Installer and re-installing and then it warns me that all sorts of programs, like every one, may not run, so I didn't go there.

So, I hope the above paragraph explains thoroughly what I've done, not done and what my issue is. Or not...so let me know what more info you need to assess. I'm perplexed and could use someone's help. Below is my HijackThis log and the #023's are shady items I know, but your advice as to what... Read more

Hello. I have been having some issues with my PC for a while. Certain programs can never seem to install on my Vista 64bit Service Pack 2 Home Premium OEM system. Examples of such programs are recent versions of Nvidia's drivers (and the Nvidia control panel on those older drivers that do install) and the Unreal Tournament Physx map pack addon. I am wondering what can cause such programs to fail from installing. I have started to think that it is that I only have .NET Frame Work 1.1 installed. So I have tried to update to .NET Frame Work 3.5, 2.0, ect. but they all seem to fail to install as well. So I am wondering what is likely the issue here, and what can be done to fix it? Does it sound like the Vista install shield (program, or whatever it is called) is corrupted? Do note that the vast majority of programs install just fine. But there are some that can't. If anyone can help me, I would really appreciate it.

Hi,

I am having repeated problems updating three Net Framework 4 security updates the last month or so. I have followed the four steps in the 'Windows Update Posting Instructions' thread and I have attached the results.

Hopefully someone can help.

A:Windows Update - Code 643 Error with Net Framework 4 Updates (x64)

I solved this myself downloading the Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (Web Installer) again. When installing there was a repair option, thenceforth the updates worked fine.

I recently refreshed my Windows 8 installation as I had experienced a problem with graphics drivers which left my PC barely running.

The refresh seemed to go fine, albeit slowly, yet my computer was back up and running as it always had been. However, when I then attempted to reinstall the windows updates and programs I had lost in the refresh, it would fail for all updates with
error code 800F0922. Furthermore, several 3rd party programs would fail to install, citing a 'microsoft.vc80.crt' error.

I was unable, therefore, to update to Windows 8.1 through the Windows Store (as this requires a readiness-for-8.1 update for Windows 8) which required me to update through a disc copy burnt from an .iso downloaded with my key. I had hoped the installation
of Windows 8.1 would fix my problem, however it did not - I am experiencing exactly the same errors with all Windows updates and certain programs.

I have determined from a large trawl of the internet and Microsoft forums that my problem is related to a problem in the installation of .Net Framework 3.5. I therefore followed all given instructions as to turn this feature on and fix it.
When attempting to install .Net Framework reliant products, I receive Error 1935.

Let me be clear in this situation: The following fixes I have tried have all taken place on my recently-refreshed machine both normal and clean-booted, from elevated-level command prompt where applicable and with no 3rd party

Title says it, I'm having trouble installing these 3 updates, keep getting the generic 643 error code I've been following this article: When you try to install an update for the .NET Framework 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, or 3.5, you may receive Windows Update error code "0x643" or Windows Installer error code "1603" to try and fix it, I do not understand Method 1 so I skipped it and did method 2 twice, but did not work both times, apparently my MSI software update registration is corrupted and it links me to this article: How to fix MSI software update registration corruption issues however, I do not understand this at all (yes I know how to use the registry, but I don't know what an SID or ProductSQUID is) and I just don't understand what it means by terms like "verify software GUID path" but I do know how to check subkeys and such, I just need help translating this page for me to put into easier terms.

Hello all.
The Dell site says my e5440 needs this update:
Serial-ATA_Driver_R4HDM_WN_13.1.0.1058_A11
It downloads fine, but install continually fails saying .NET Framework 4.5 required.  So I went to Microsoft, downloaded 4.5, but the MS installer says a newer version of .NET is already installed.
So I'm stuck. I can't install the Dell SATA driver update because it doesn't recognise a newer version of .NET Framwork is installed. And I can't 'roll-back' to .NET 4.5 because MS won't allow it.
Can anyone help?

A:Dell site SATA drivers won't install - claims .NET Framework 4.5 not installed - but it already is.

I have to install an application for a job and when I run it, .NET Framework 3.0 is installed first , but it fails giving a 1603 error.

I tried changing the Permissions from this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog\Security\ServiceModel 3.0.0.0 to allow Everyone.

I made sure no firewall or other registry program was running.

I also downloaded an application called Error Fixer, or MS-Fixer or something like that, which I read about on these fora, but that didn't work either. It only prompted me to buy if I wanted it to do something.

I also tried to open the exe file using 7-Zip, so I could manually install .NET Framework 3.5 (already installed) and the actual program I want. But that didn't work either.

I don't know what else to do, since the problem is the version of Framework that comes with my application.

Any help? I have Vista Home Edition 32.

Was wondering if anybody else has recently gone through some Windows updates that just seem to take absolutely forever to install? I thought that my new box had a hardware issue last night because it was installing about 6 updates and it seems liked it was sitting there for like 30 minutes.

Today at work, I'm updating a Windows 7 64bit Enteprise machine and it's been cranking for quite some time on 10 updates. KB2604121, KB25656351, KB2532531, KB982670 are a few of the KB numbers. These names seem very similar to what I saw from home last night on my new box.

I Installed the Microsoft .NET Framework because it was listed as a high priority update and it appears that Windows Cardspace was installed with it. Windows Cardspace shows up in control panel as a vertical file such as are in Windows Vista. Also cardspace freezes the computer and keeps it from restarting. Should I uninstall the .NET framework 3.0?
The freezing and restarting problems only happens when I'm trying to use cardspace(actually cardspace never loads.)

Hey,

As I understand it, this is built into Windows 7 SP1, which is why I can't use the installer to install 3.5.

The problem I'm having is that I am using a program that a friend made, which needs .NET framework 3.5 to run, and when I try to run it, it is giving an error which is a normal error it gives when .NET framework 3.5 isn't installed.

Does anyone know why Windows would say it's installed, but it won't work?

Is there anyway around this?

Maybe improper or corrupt code with the program?

I tried a few programs that require net framework 3.5 or higher to work

NFwork 4 is a part of the operating system and these programs wont install as they dont recognise it,

I have tried installing the standalone version from microsoft but same result

It is still telling me it wont install because a more up to date version is already installed, so why cant the software locate it, is it worth rebuilding the index, maybe its not indexed

any ideas ??

Normally Windows 8 asks you to install .net 2 + 3 and you need to be connected to the internet.
The installation happens automatically.
That's what happened on my pc, but I refused the install since I don't use such programs.
You can still manually enable it on demand.

Try to go here:
Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> (on the left) turn Windows Features on or off:

And enable the (first) feature from there. Make sure you have internet access, Windows will take care from there.
After a reboot or not (depends on the installer when ready), .Net 3.5 and lower should be enabled.

That should be it.

Good luck

And, can we just do 3 and leave out the first 2?

A:Net Framework?

First of all, the .NET Framework is not sine qua non for Windows XP to work.

Second, there are some Benefits of the Microsoft .NET Framework, which you'll have by installing it.

Third, most of the time, you can use the latest version of the .NET Framework to run applications that were created by using earlier versions of the .NET Framework. Please take careful note of the "most of the time" explanatory parenthetic element.

Fourth, you may have several versions of the .NET Framework installed on your computer. Each version of the .NET Framework can co-exist with the other versions on the computer.

Fifth, you'll probably need at some time this: How to determine which versions of the .NET Framework are installed and whether service packs have been applied.

So, realized the other day that i had Microsoft .NET framework installed,

I have a question:
Do i need it?
For some weird reason I have Microsoft .NET framework 2 (Sp1),3 (Sp1) and 3.5 (whats the difference between service packs and non service packs)

So could i delete all of them because i realized that they take up quite alot of space??...

Thanks!

A:.NET Framework

Net framework is a program that is used by some applications to make them work better. If you uninstall maybe one of your programs wont work properly but if they still work then net framework is just taking up space. If something does not work then you will have to reinstall net framework.
