I am not having any trouble with my computer but...when I looked over my updates from Microsoft I found multiples for the same updates:
KB905474 was installed on 4/28/06, 5/31/06 and 6/27/06
KB892130 was installed on 2/09/-6,, 3/08/06 and 5/27/06

I contacted microsoft about this and their answer just led me in circles and they just told me to delete whatever it is so it would not show my previous updates but start over. I said no I want to see what updates I have on my computer...I just wanted to know why they keep sending me the same ones over...does anyone know the answer.

A:Genuine Advantage Tool from Microsoft

My history is similar, as I understand it they "update" the WGA "tools" to add more stolen key numbers or remove some that should not be there and are incorrectly reported.

"Fine tuning" perhaps.
Must admit it does not worry me.

For win xp sp2. win version is legal, as it is already activated and windows genuine advantage tool has already been installed, as well as some updates.

On pc: windows genuine advantage tool has been installed to get all updates, except, 'windows genuine advantage notification' update. How can I remove windows genuine advantage tool, as I have already all updates?

I certainly do not want to install 'windows genuine advantage notification' update, when watching the list of updates, I saw only 1 update for windows genuine advantage notification, is this correct? The other 53 critical updates are then really necessary?

I do not care if the solution for removing is difficult or easy, I just want to remove it.

Hi

I'm running XP SP3, genuine product all paid for, also run Avast (anti virus) and Malwarebytes (anti malware) both of which I use every time I download anything

A few days ago Windows did an automatic update and about the same time I installed an uninstall program called "Your Uninstall"

This may or may not be a coincidence but at about the same time I started having boot up problems, it would freeze as soon as the "welcome" message came on the screen. Switching off and rebooting is usually successful although sometimes it takes 2 attempts.

I thought the problem might be in too many programs on start up so I checked in "Your Uninstall" to see what was there. This was when I noticed that a program called "Windows Genuine Advantage Tool KB892130" was marked as "corrupted"

I'd never heard of this program before but have since learnt that it is automatically installed with XP and is there to check the validity of the XP. Obviously it must have been there for years and has been ok otherwise presumably I would not have been able to install the SP updates.

My questions are:

1. Do I need to worry about the corrupt Advantage tool and if so what can I do to repair it?

2. Could this corruption be causing the boot up problems or are there other things I should do to solve this?

Incidentally the Windows "Restore" tool hasn't worked for ages, don't know why so can't reset to an earlier time

anyone know how to bypass this?

my pc has a legal copy of XP. it has one of those copies that comes with the pc when you buy it.

when i go to microsoft update, it won't let me download any updates untill i install the WGA. i did install it and now it's telling me that my copy is illegal

i contacted MS and they said that i have to send them some proof of it being legal (installation cd's) but since it came with the pc, it doesn't have the cd's

now they're telling me to send them my pc and that they won't be paying shipping

i searched google to find some fix for it and tried some things. i somehow got it uninstalled, but it still won't let me download updates untill i install this tool.

any idea on how to fix this?

Dear friends,
I use to update my Xp SP-2 regularly from MS website.
Now a days it is insisting to install "Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130)" first to proceed for downloading update files.
Is it a FORCE or I can bypass this tool. I do not want to install it, as somebody told me this is a tool by MS to takeout personal information on my OS (XP) and MS Office and other MS Software.
I know I use genuine legal copy.
But why should I allow MS to take more information ?
Is not WPA through internet is not sufficient ?
Can this tool take information on other products/3rd party software like NERO,MS OFFICE and ArcSOft ?

A:Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130)

Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool,in my opinion is safe and only checking your Windows key to make sure you are using a genuine key ,go for it install it ,and don't worry about getting caught for using cracked versions of ,Nero and the other programs you mentioned ,won't happen

This mandatory critical update was released today(April 25, 2006) at the Windows Updates site.

Users of illegal or pirated copies of Windows XP - beware!

Microsoft announced that on Tuesday it will make Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) more bothersome than ever. A new update for WGA is now on the Windows Update website as a mandatory update. Once installed, your copy of Windows will be checked for validity. If your Windows installation is found not to be genuine, Windows will display a message telling you that “This copy of Windows is not genuine.” Windows will check and display messages on every boot as well as once an hour (or so). The new WGA tool also puts an icon in your system tray if your copy of Windows is not genuine.

Once notified and prompted to validate your copy of Windows, you will have 14 days to do so. If after 14 days you do not comply, you will not be able to download updates from the Windows Update website. Critical security updates will still be available via the Automatic Update built into Windows.

Microsoft hopes that by nagging users to get a genuine copy of Windows, it will cut down on piracy. We all know how much we despise pop-ups. Microsoft also urges anyone who purchased an illegal copy of Windows to report the counterfeit dealer. As a reward, Microsoft will (in most cases) give a free license to victims of counterfeit.

If you do not wish to validate your copy of Windows, there is a way to turn off the notifications by c... Read more

Hi,

So ive searched the forums here and cannot see anyone who's had this problem yet so here goes.

My problem is whenever Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool is used it hangs my pc. firstly explorer starts to hang window by window until nothing responds not even task manager and i have to hard reset. I first experienced this when i tried to install the new IE7 beta a week ago, whenever it went to validate my copy of windows the pc would hang and i would have to reboot.needless to say i didnt install it, Now whenever auto update decides it needs to contact microsoft it hangs my pc. Now ive turned off auto update to get round this for now but im wondering what on earth could be the problem.. I know 100% i am genuine with XP and i turn off sygate firewall and symantec antivirus 10 and close as many process as i can this still happen. Ive run a scannow /sfc and that didnt come up with any errors. couold anyone point me in the right direction with this.. I am a tech support guy for a company so im pretty up on stuff but this one is new to me, ive searched the internet with not much luck and apart from this my system is 100% condition. all drivers up to date temp folders clean. no spyware.. etc etc I am 99.99% sure its the new validation process thats causing this..

Many thanks

A:Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool Big Problems

This is a stab in the dark, . . try this:

Go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Windows Genuine Advantage\data . . .

Delete or rename the data folder . . reboot and go to Windows Update and let it download again.

If that somehow was corrupted, it might install again.

My university makes us run a Computer Assessment Tool before we bring our PC's to college. It is a good way to keep the network free of viruses and garbage. without running this tool and passing, you cannot connect to their network.

i, of course, keep my computer squeaky clean and virus/spyware free. the only point that is keeping me from passing is that i need to download 2 windows updates. no biggie, so when i try to download them from the window's update site, but it won't download them, it errors. For some reason i am missing this 'Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130)'??

i searched the microsoft update site, downloaded the Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130) and it popped up when i installed it, i assume it installed and worked (genuinized my comp??)....went back to downloaded the windows update and the same error came up, saying i need Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130)..

Please somebody help me. I would appreciate any assistance.

Examples of premium features which Microsoft potentially could lock down under Genuine Advantage include Windows Photo Gallery; Windows Media Center; Windows DVD Maker; and games like Texas Hold 'Em Poker that are part of the downloadable Vista Ultimate Extras products and services.

There are a number of new Vista features which Microsoft is making available only to users of its consumer- and small-business-focused "premium" Vista editions -- Vista Home Premium and Vista Ultimate.

Microsoft Provides Additional Clarity About Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications

Some highlights from Microsoft's latest press release regarding WGA (see above link), that are of interest to all Windows users:

As a result of customer concerns around performance, Microsoft is changing this feature to only check for a new settings file every 14 days. This change will be made in the next release of WGA. Also, this feature will be disabled when WGA Notifications launches worldwide later this year.

Microsoft concentrated their disclosure on the critical validation step that would occur when validating through WGA. Not specifically including information on the periodic check was an oversight.

WGA is not spyware, because spyware is deceptive software that is installed on a user?s computer without the user?s consent and has some malicious purpose. WGA is installed with the consent of the user and seeks only to notify the user if a proper license is not in place.

As with any pre-release software, WGA Notifications is optional for customers. There is no penalty for opting-out; customers who choose not to install WGA Notifications will still receive high-priority updates delivered via Automatic Updates.

A:Microsoft is going to change the Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) policy

The latest version of Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) Notifications has rolled out a few days ago. The deployment process of this new installer has already started to at least 20 additional languages, with a few more expected in March. The download page, which also contains a list of the newer "improvements", can be found here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

A:MGADiag Tool report attached - genuine or not? And then what?

It's likely genuine. The original factory Windows 7 OEM-SLP install activates against a SLIC table in the BIOS. That will only work if you install with the matching factory install media. Those OEM_SLP keys are blocked from online activation. They are also listed on web sites so you'll get hits if you Google them. The original factory OEM-SLP key will not activate online. You need the key on the COA sticker if your using standard install media. Remove the battery and have a look in the battery compartment. They sometimes hide it in there so it doesn't get damaged and unreadable.

How on earth did someone use the Genuine Advantage validation from your PC?

Best way to find out if you are still 'valid' is to try Windows Updates, if you have any issues and you are running a genuine version of XP, call Microsoft and obtain a fresh code if need be.

AGGHHHH!!!

I mindlessly installed Genuine Advantage, and well... I'm not exactly using a legit copy of XP. Although I do own a copy, I used this one with a false key. I'm sorry if I shouldn't be posting this here, but I do legitimately own XP.

Is there any concievable method of REMOVING Genuine Advantage?

I believe earlier this year, there was talk about a Windows Update concerning Windows Genuine Advantage (I tried searching my old posts, but they don't go back that far). Anyway, at that time the update was "voluntary," meaning that you could remove it for the time being with no adverse effects to your system.

So, I uninstalled it.

So, yesterday, i boot my (main) pc and as soon as I log in, I get a "Windows is not genuine" message. I followed the instructions and downloaded a file to check validity -- and I passed validation (as did Office).

So, is that "voluntary" update now mandatory?
(Just curious as my "problem" is solved)

There was talk of Microsoft Security Essentials sneaking that back in. But if you don't have that installed, it could have been an update as well. Microsoft is always checking

I use AVG Free as an antivirus, and up until recently I didn't notice it had been disabled. GREAT! I fire it back up, get it updated and face the following....constant popups from AVG about threats, all of which are .dll files, all of which stem from the same foler - C:\programdata\windows genuine advantage - it says it's removing the threats, and that's great...but I wonder if it's not really hitting the underlying cause. Based on a couple quick google searches it looks as though this could be a pretty nasty virus....is there a more effective way to cut the head off of this snake? Any help would be appreciated. This is almost brand new work computer. It is about 3 months old.

The PC ran perfectly fine for about 1-2 months. About 3 weeks ago we started receiving the genuine activation screen.

Our IT has attempted to validate it online (several times) and it takes the validation fine and confirms it is validated. Within a day or so it starts to throw up the genuine advantage screen again.

Below is the MGA report. Any assistance would be awesome. I am extremely limited on what I can install on this PC for trying to resolve this.

The original OS on this was Windows 8. IBM or the shipper installs our image (Windows7) onto the PC before shipping to us.

I've got an 11 year old IBM ThinkCentre (from back when they were branded by IBM) running Windows XP SP 3 -- the same OS it had when I bought the computer, although I cloned it to a larger HD in 2007. It's old and I'll be getting rid of it, eventually, and it's not my only computer, but it's convenient and I plan to nurse it along until it drops. I've got it protected by a good firewall, a good antivirus program, and MBAM Premium. Daily scans show it's not infected with anything. I've been getting and running updates from Microsoft on a regular basis.

Tonight, out of the blue, I started getting nags that seem to be coming from Microsoft claiming that my "copy" of Windows might not be genuine and I have to resolve the issue by downloading a "tool" -- WGAPluginInstall.exe -- to validate it. It does seem to be sending me to a Microsoft website.

Does this seem legit? After Microsoft has been updating my system for 11 years without complaint?

Is it necessary? I don't really want to download more junk than I need to.

Thanks.

A:Windows Genuine Advantage nag?

If this is WGA notification, it's junk. Use the tool to remove it. If the WGAtool shows WGA as not installed, I would not install it.

Hi - I do have a legal WinXP O/S on this new e-machine. But it has been so unreliable and complicated b/c of OEM software and probably some user error, I've had to reload it 6 times in 1 year.

I have Windows 2000 on my Win98 machine that is a decent machine but small monitor. I want to be able to use Win 2000 on the XP machine as XP is the last chance to get updates for Win 2000 as I understand.

I have a 2-gig flash drive U-3 which I think means it will work under 98. I do not have the disks for Ofc 2000, it came with the machine. I would like to copydown Ofc2000 to the flash drive so I can use it when needed on the XP machine.

After reading about Win Genuine Advantage, I don't think it will let me copy Office products without the disks. I do have a license number for 2000 which might be a multiple user; although my name is on it.

Will Genuine Advantage keep me from getting updates until I install it? Will it keep me from installing (copying over) Office 2000? (Microsoft doc only speaks to Ofc 2002 and later).

I also have a router and verizon services but I can't make up my mind between yahoo and microsoft. Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

Any ideas? Thank you.

A:Win Genuine Advantage Notification

You can not simply copy Office from one machine to the other - it won't work. You have to install it using the installation disks. The reason for this is that during the installation process entries are added to the registry that allow the program to function correctly. If you simply copy the files across to another machine none of the registry entries will be there.

Hello Marty Marshalek,

That file is the program that makes you validate your copy of Microsoft Office to download non-critical updates and other downloads such as addons, samples etc.

Last night I replaced a cd writer for a friend and all went well. Of course I had to power down the machine & in so doing so there were 5 MS updates for SP2 that ran. The updates installed sucessfuly & then I was prompted to install MS Windows Genuine Advantage; no problem. However following the install of Windows Genuine Advantage a notification flag appeared stating that he does not have a legit copy of windows.

The system is an HP 520W purchased new a few years ago and came with XP installed. The system is up to date running XP SP2 with all updates. Windows Genuine Advantage version 1,5,708,0 was the last update installed.

Is there a way to fix this without spending hours talking to MS Support???

Good evening,

I just recently repaired my Vista system (power went out throughout update process, failed to configure updates) and when I logged on, Windows was telling me that I was a victim of software counterfeiting. Which is odd, seeing as my eMachines D620 (Canada) came with Windows Vista Home Basic 32bit OEM. I went to Microsoft and followed their instructions and they said my version checked out, and it was all good. So I double checked the license key on my system and rebooted. When I logged back on again, the notification was still in the right hand bottom corner and I am baffled as to why Microsoft likes to pick on people.

Let's be clear, this version came with my PC and is made for this model only. I cannot fathom why they think this is an invalid version, but oh well.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

About time. I wonder how much time and bandwidth are wasted on things the user neither needs nor wants. I wonder how much anti-piracy protection will be enough. And I wonder how long before the government plants chips in our brains to monitor us for our own good? If that seems like a stretch, think about all the video cameras on every street in London.

On another forum, I have this quote from Ayn Rand in my profile:

"Did you really think we want those laws observed?" said Dr. Ferris.
"We want them to be broken. You'd better get it straight that it's
not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against... We're after power
and we mean it... There's no way to rule innocent men. The only
power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals.
Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One
declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible
for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of
law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just
pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted ? and you create a nation of law-breakers
? and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system,
Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be
much easier to deal with." (Atlas Shrugged 1957)

Hello again sevenforums.

I'm having some issues with my partners laptop. Her ex-boyfriend upgraded her laptop with an illegal copy of Windows 7, not sure what version.

Now I was unaware of this and updated her system with Windows update, and now I get the WGA notifications after I login and the blank desktop with WGA tray notification bubbles.

My issue is that I cannot undo what has been done to this system and would like to remove WGA from the system.
But first, a few things you need to know.

1. I do not have the original disk to restore her system to Vista, like she had before.
2. We do not have the Internet at our house at this time either.

What I am asking is this. Is it possible to remove WGA from her system completely manually via deleting singular files/folders from the C:/ drive or registry?

I've looked over a few tutorials pertaining to this and they all explain about finding wgalogon.dll from the system32 folder, which I cannot find there, even with hidden folders visible. Nor can I find the wgatray.exe from startup via msconfig.exe.

It would be nice to be able to resolve this, but If you have a strict policy against tech support for illegal copies of Windows products then I completely understand, but I would like a response in any case.

Thank you.

Hi mertsch

First, check the obvious - if your friend has left a non-bootable floppy diskette in their floppy drives. Or a non-bootable CD in the CD drive (not usually a problem, however). Or, for whatever reason, has changed the boot devices in the Bios.

If the "annoying pop-up messages" after installing Windows Genuine Advantage looked like these:

Invalid windows product ID.
The volume license product key used to install Windows is known to be pirated.
This copy of Windows is not genuine.

... let us know. Also, tell us if the messages appeared for a while - (tell us how long if possible). A call to Microsoft might be necessary at that point. Have the Windows Installation disk and product key used handy (don't put any key info here on the forum - that info is for Microsoft, not us).

Best of luck

A friend of mine brought their computer over recently for me to look at. The pc has been working fine for months. Now he tried to login to it and WGA tells me that:

"This copy of Windows must be activated before you can log in. Do you want to activate now?"

As far as we both know the copy of windows is legit so this was an odd surprise...

I tried to activate it but it gets frozen on the activation screen? It doesn't even load the window so I'm not sure which screen it is!

It also said something about the password being deleted/changed in 2 days.

So, I tried a fix for this that involved deleting "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\WgaLogon"

in regedit and changing/deleting the wgatray.exe and wgalogon.dll files.

After doing so the blue WGA screen in the corner went away but I still cannot log into windows. I researched the possibility of a patch for it but I could not locate the patch myself.

The version of WGA I have is 1.7.0018.1 (KB905474)

I can only log into the computer in Safemode. I tried to do a system restore but it wouldn't load up in safemode?

I'd really like to get this fixed so if you have any knowledge on how to do so please help!

A:Windows Genuine Advantage HEADACHE please help!

Is there a holographic sticker attached with the product key on it ? If so give Microsoft a call - it's a free call to an automated service and takes only a couple of minutes to get you back up and running .

You'll get no help here with bypassing WGA but there are utilities that can identify the product key on your friend's PC in the absence of any sticker . You'll need at least that when making the call .

Hi

I have an old PC that was originally built for me with an OEM version of Windows Me which I then upgraded to XP using a retail upgrade. Before the upgrade was carried out I had to have the HDD replaced due to disc failure. I also changed the RAM modules but cannot recall whether this was before or after the upgrade to XP. There is no Network Card installed nor is there a LAN facility integral with the motherboard.

I want to install a Wireless Network PCI Card on this PC but am unsure if this will cause a problem with the WGA system. I have run the Microdsoft software MGADiag.exe and evrything checks out as legitimate.

I have also looked at the hardware count using XPInfo.exe but cannot interpret the data shown to determine whether I will fall into the category of requiring re-activation if I install this card. I attach a bmp file of the XPInfo result.

The Microsoft website for queries such as this is out of action whilst being moved and I don't know for how long, hence this post.

Can anyone advise me on this before I proceed?

A:Windows Genuine Advantage Question

as long as the software is legal for that system, you should not have any problems with wga when you upgrade the hardware. If you should have to reactivate for whatever reason, you should not have any problems though you might have to call instead of doing it online.

The only time you have to worry about wga and activation is when replacing the motherboard. Then oem operating systems would have to be replace.

Ok so I had to go to Microsoft.com to download the DirectX 9.0 update but it says I have to validate my Windows version to make sure it's genuine and not counterfeit.

I tried to download the plugin, and I did

(from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en )

the download completed in 1 second, and the file size says 0 bytes (in fact, everything I try downloading from Microsoft.com turns up as 0 bytes.) Then after I try opening it it says "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\WGAPluginInstall.exe is not a valid Win32 application."

SO at this point I'm thinking, okay, I'll try the alternate method (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displayLang=en)

It asks me to download the file "GenuineCheck.exe" so I do. Same result as before with the 0 bytes file size and the "win32 error".

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

A:Windows Genuine Advantage problem popped up out of nowhere

Your installation is of a Volume Licensed copy of Windows 7 Pro - and the motherboard is a retail one.

It's possible that your System Admin has installed Group Policies to prevent access to the system needed to fix this, but....

This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers -

Installing the Intel Rapid Storage Drivers
try downloading and installing them from here - https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=22194

(you want the iata_enu.exe download)

Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

Hi all
I wanted the Office 2007 addon - save documents in pdf and xml formats.
Downloaded from Ms office site.

Was prompted for WGA -- it didn't actually do anything as WGA isn't yet functional for Windows 7 -- I'm running build 7077 X-64. It just tghen passed me straight to the download.

Installed the add on.

Then I got please activate Windows -- you have 27 days (?) left to activate windows.

It activated OK but I'd ALREADY activated windows -- and where did the 27 days come from -- normally it's 30 days.

However under some circumstances I've seen (different) Windows builds - not necessarily W7 only) saying "To continue using Windows it must be activated within 3 days".

To the more mathematically challenged 30 -3 = 27 -- co-incidence perhaps.

After re-activation - no further probs -- but found it strange behaviour -- no extra hardware added etc.

Cheers
jimbo

A:WGA (Windows Genuine Advantage) is Broken (7077)

I've not had the issue with WGA on any build of Windows 7 & i have installed Office 2007 fine. I'll try downloading the file your on about and see anyway.

Also, the 3 days remaining usually occurs when you choose to 'Activate Windows Automatically once online' during installation.

Running Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 3 on Dell Optiplex GX520.

I'm attempting to do Windows Updates. The first time around, it said there were 118 updates and hung on 4 of 118. #4 was Windows Genuine Advantage Notification KB905474. It sat there for over two hours without any movement so I rebooted and started over.

It's hung at the same place again and no movement for almost two hours now.
I've moved the update dialog box to see if there is anything behind it and there's not. Show Desktop doesn't help either.

Then I went to the Microsoft site, downloaded it manually and attempted to install. It hung again, this time at "Running Processes After Install".

This is a new installation from the original Dell disk.

What to do?

Now for some reason, today besides that, i also had this little black transparent rectangle in the lower right corner of my desktop, with the WGA symbol, and a key icon regarding the wga on my task bar.

Hello.

I have fortunately not installed Windows Genuine Advantage, thus its "impossible" removal won't be the issue here.

The problem is that it attempts to install (Not alone, it notifies me and requires me to click next and accept a lisence agreement) upon startup every time.

The only way I have been able to disable this is using MSCONFIG and putting the PC into a state where no startup items load.

If I remove just WGA, the computer will still notify me that it is in a modified startup state, which I don't really want to do.

Is there any way to prevent this program running on startup otherwise?

Note : I cannot uninstall the WGA installation tool, and nor can I purge it from startup with such as CCleaner.

I do have a validated copy of Windows, before you ask, I just can't stand microsoft pushing its crap down my throat.

Second note : I contacted Microsoft Technical support, It was suggested that I validate my copy using a program they linked me to, it was WGA! They totally misunderstood, or tried to trick me into installing the bloody thing!

Thanks for any/all assistance fella's.

Okay, so
I'm trying to remove Windows Genuine Advantage from my system.
I think it just updated a few days ago, that's when it started pestering me, anyway.

I've read lots of how-to articles and nothing's worked. when I run command prompt and try to kill the task "wgatray.exe" it says it isn't found. there's no Winlogon folder in my registry which is what I'm supposed to be deleting. not running in my task manager processes. even when I search my computer for anything WGA-related, I get no results.

what's the deal? it's clearly on my computer, but where?
has anyone had any luck with any WGA removal software? I know there are several free options but it seems a little risky, I'd rather tinker with it myself.

edit: I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I did a clean install myself several weeks ago and it's worked fine until just a few days ago.

Having looked at my event viewer I see many errors and warnings listed, again I dont know what these mean or if I need to do anything.

Is there anybody out there prepared to take a look at these for me and tell me if i need to do anything. If so please tell me how to save and post the info and I will gladly do so.

Thanx

What specific errors are you seen in the diagnostic report?

Regarding Event Viewer:

If I spent 10 minutes investigating each different error found in Event Viewer, I would never have time to eat or sleep. If you can't or won't ignore most of them, you are destined to have a full time job, working for EV.

I look at it maybe once a year and would never look there if my system was running well.

I ran the System Diagnostics Report that is generated in Computer Management under Performance--Data Collector Sets--System?System Diagnostics. Here is a screenshot summary of the results (the full System Diagnostic Report is 123 pages long).

My system appears to be running fairly smoothly so I was surprised by these results. No other programs were running during the test. The UEFI diagnostic shows no hardware problems and I doubt that all of the poor results are valid.

Someone at Microsoft said that incompatibility issue(s) might cause these results. However, they would give me no further insights and said I would have to pay to have them figure it out. In another forum, I was told that the results are just Windows internal reporting and to ignore them. However, this makes no sense.

There are two Abnormally Stopped System Services: Interactive Services Detection (UIODetect) and Windows Encryption Provider Host Service (WEPHOSTSVC). What should be the settings for these services?

Question: How can I determine what, if anything, is conflicting with the diagnostic test?

Question: Could the problem be a flaw in the diagnostics test itself, rather than any problems with my system?

Question: If there really are some issues, how can they be resolved?

I hope that someone can help me understand what to do with these results. I would be happy to share the full diagnostics report as well as the associated system performance report.

I've recently "inherited" a laptop from my father, who on a whim decided that the 17" screen (which was essential in the previous purchase) was now too big and he needed something compact to travel. Only problem is that he is dedicated to the cause of causing computer problems, and now I've got this Genuine Error popping up. I purchased the computer (online) for him with Windows, and it has a Windows sticker on the bottom - it is a genuine copy.

There are no recovery disks of any kind (who knows where they have been lost to) available.

Here is the data:

This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers -

Installing the Intel Rapid Storage Drivers
try downloading and installing them from here - https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=22194

(you want the iata_enu.exe download)

Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

When I execute version 2.0 of the Microsoft's WMI Diagnostic Tool on my 64-bit Home Premium system, I get an 'Unsupported OS version or build #' error. Am I doing something wrong? If the tool doesn't work on 64-bit, is there a similar tool available which will? Thanks!

A:WMI Diagnostic Tool for 64-Bit

After reviewing the script, it is obvious that this tool does not support any version of Windows 7 at all (Vista is the last supported OS). Nothing else available at MS download center. No hits on Google. Looks like MS left Windows 7 users out in the cold when it comes to WMI diagnostics...

I am looking for some kind of combined hardware/software diagnostic tool that can tell me what is causing my computer to crash. It crashes about once every 2 days, and freezes while I use it for periods of typically around 30 seconds each, in which the program stops responding.

I want to know if it's a hardware problem and I need a new computer or if it's a software problem and I need to un-install a few things

Hello and welcome to TSF, JJFlame!

PLEASE, if you're going to post - post more information about both your hardware and your operating system, as it's very important.

Also, it would really help to tell us important events such; When do you get this error? When did it start? What programs are you running at the time? What program stops responding?

Go to this link and post the output files as attachments in your next post(s), Thank you.
