SmartDefrag2: Half the screen filled with black cells

Q: SmartDefrag2: Half the screen filled with black cells

I just defragged my two computers using IObit's Smart Defragger 2.6. One is a desktop and the other is a laptop. Although they are from different manufacturers, they have the same OS (Windows7 HP) and just about the same programs in use. The desktop is used more than the laptop.

On opening SD, the screen for the laptop didn't have many black cells; whereas the desktop showed about half the screen filled with continuous black cells and many black cells remaining within areas that were defragged/optimized.

I would appreciate knowing if the preponderance of black cells showing the desktop means anything?

A: SmartDefrag2: Half the screen filled with black cells

That would depend on what the black cells indicate. If they represent free space on the hard drive (just as an example) it's possible the desktop has a larger hard drive than the laptop so it's showing more free space. But if the black cells mean something else...

A screenshot of the defrag screens including the legend of what the different colored cells mean would help. Also the size of both hard drives.

My laptop has windows 10. When i power on my laptop often these days I see this screen comes up. After few seconds It starts beeping sound. I power off the laptop, then power it on again until the laptop boots up normally. Usually in two to three chances it boots up normally. After it boots up it doesn't give any problem it functions normally, its only when I power it on 70% of the time it shows this screen. It starts from the top and runs to the bottom those lines. What might be the problem ? I am using windows 10 on inspiron 15r SE 7250 I updated chipset and bios driver few week back and also changed the thermal paste on cpu and gpu

A:Half white and half black screen during booting

When this happens after a few seconds it gives Beep sound. I counted the beeps and it was total 8 times.
8 times beep then after a little pause it starts again. Does it means 8 beeps ie; LCD failure ? If yes then what should I do

Hello, could anyone help I have a half black line screen i have Window's 7 vista I have restored it several times i find it difficult to read my screen HELP

A:Half Black Screen HP

Distorted output on the screen typically indicates motherboard damage, bad cable/pin damage, or damage to the screen itself.

If you reboot in safe mode you'll be viewing graphics in VGA. Does the problem persist? If so, try replacing the monitor cable. If the problem still occurs, try swapping out the monitor. If even that doesn't work you probably have motherboard damage. My bet is on cable/monitor.

I have been having some trouble with my monitors display. ON ocasion, more often than not, when I boot my computer the display is cut in half and the top is black. I have tried everything I can think of to try an solve the problem including wiping the xp operating system and re-installing. The only other thing I could think of is that it may be a hardware problem like a faulty pin in hte monitors power chord. If anyone can shed some light on my situation I will be very grateful. Thankyou for your time.

I just bought a new laptop the other day. Lenovo Yoga 2 13. During use, the lower half of the screen is turning black. It's almost like a pop up in that it appears, and any interaction with the machine makes it disappear. I can't screen shot it so I don't think it's software related. I've updated my graphics drivers but that hasn't helped. I've also done a clean install of Windows 8.1 and am still having the same issue. I've attached an image to represent what I see. There seems to be no consistency with the size of the black area but it never goes more than half way up.

Hello,

I'm a new member here, and just about computer literate, but only just about.
I am stuck on a blue screen. I am using a Dell Inspiron 6000 with Windows XP.

I hope the previous members involved don't mind, but I found they had had the same problem, more or less, as me, so I've copied and pasted much of thier question and answer over.

When I start, it offers me Safe Mode options, Last Known Good Configuration, and Windows. However, whichever option I choose always brings me to the same blue screen:

"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration, and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

A:BSOD - screen filled with colorful pixels and crashes

You have 6 or 7 hard drives - what is the make/model/wattage and age of your power supply?

We've seen a number of BSOD issues with SSD's. Here's the information that I've compiled so far:

There's not a whole bunch available to test SSD's. The "easiest" test is to remove the SSD, install a platter-based hard drive, install Windows and test for stability that way.

Here's some suggestions:
- Update the SSD's firmware to the latest available version (VERY IMPORTANT!!!)
- Update the motherboard controllers drivers to the latest available version from the controller manufacturer (NOT the mobo manufacturer unless you can't find any on the controller manufacturer's website)
- Slow the memory (RAM) down to the next slower speed (I've only seen one person who claimed that this worked for them).
- Use any manufacturer's utilities that you may have. If you don't have any, then try this free one (I haven't used it myself): Crystal Dew World
- Update chipset and storage controller drivers to the latest available from the manufacturer of the device (not the manufacturer of the motherboard). Be sure to update ALL controllers on the motherboard!
....NOTE: Recently (Nov 2011) we had BSOD issues with the Marvell 91xx controller and an SSD. You may have to switch controllers also.
- Replace the SSD with a platter based hard drive and see if that stops the BSOD's. If it does, then it's likely that there's a problem with the SSD OR an incompatibility wit... Read more

My 17" CRT monitor, old, goes to showing the top half of the screen Black and the bottom half still shows the image, though only the bottom half of it.

Sometimes after turning it off and on again it's OK. At other times it will not come good until over an hour or more.

I'm using a borrowed monitor at the moment and it is working just fine.

If I fill any Windows phone or Windows 10 mobile start screen with live tiles. Will all the live tiles flip simultaneously or will Windows OS pause few apps and let other apps update their tiles?

A:Windows phone start screen filled with full of live tiles.

"Filling" up a start screen with live tiles is unclear - do you just want to fill in the screen without making it scroll or would you like to make the screen scroll down almost indefinitely?
In any case, however, Windows Phone doesn't update all of the tiles "simultaneously", but rather in a staggered manner to conserve resources. The flipping is also not simultaneous.
I HAD a Windows Phone - a Lumia 1020 running Windows 10 Mobile preview (one of the last OS versions) - and I had over 60 pinned, around 20-30 of them were Live Tiles. I noticed that they don't get updated all at once, but more of "one after the other".
The apps and tiles are almost always "paused", since the OS will not update them continuously but rather at a pre-determined interval.

i just found an answer from bombs that got me a bit closer i think but i still cant resolve this one, it looks ok till i go to total a section of the column and it gets all the hidden empty cells

a column of cells with =IF(R530 = 0,1,0)
but the whole row of hidden cells gets marked as 1 so when i run a simple total i get my range of 12 or so + 2900 odd spare from the hidden cells

Hi

I am wondering if there is a simple macro that would allow me to format cells throughout a workbook based on whether they contain an input (ie number/text etc) vs. a calculation (anything with a formula).

Basically I'm looking for an automated way to colour my inputs in blue font and calculations in blank font across all worksheets in a workbook.

Any ideas would be great.

Thanks

A:Excel macro to format input cells vs calculation cells

I wanted to point out that this can be done without using a macro. In Excel you can click EDIT >> GOTO >> SPECIAL and put a check in the option labeled "Formulas." After clicking OK all your formula cells should be automatically selected on the sheet. Once all cells have been selected you can change the font, background color, etc. for all the selected cells at once. If you prefer to use a macro instead you can try the code I provided below.

Code:
Sub FindFormulas()

For Each vcell In ActiveSheet.UsedRange

If vcell.HasFormula = False Then

vcell.Font.ColorIndex = 5

Else

'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''
'Replace with your code to execute if cell contains formula
'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

End If

Next vcell

End Sub

What I can do:
I CAN enter BIOS and have reset the default settings.
I CAN press F8 to give me advanced boot options, but all options have the same result, apart from "Repair your computer".
I CAN load the "Repair your computer" option.
I CAN move the mouse around the screen.
I CAN press shift 5 times to get a dialogue to appear, but no control panel.
I CAN press the power button to shut down the system.

When that happens he has to force computer to shutdown.

Also when these random black screens occur the usb devices wont turn on.
One thing i noticed when he get black screens is things like dvd tray will open.(So it?s not most likely cpu related.)

He has to start machine couple of times to get system working proberly.

Brought to it's knees this weekend enexpectedly, I am attempting to install Windows XP Pro. I have used the maxtor diagnostic util to wipe the HDD to all zeroes, leaving one big unpartitioned space.

When I boot from the Windows XP CD it goes though the install just fine, formats the space, and copies the files, seemingly alright. When it reboots, it goes through the whole BIOS screen fine, it again asks to press any key to boot from CD, and if nothing is pressed goes directly to a blank screen, no cursor, no loading, nothing. Leaving it for up to an hour does nothing. Monitor is on, and signal seems active, but nothing is coming though.

I can access recovery console, but I'm getting in over my head at that point. Can anything in there help me?

Any advice is good advice, I messed with this all weekend long and it is getting old.
Thanks

A:Windows half installs, blank screen after BIOS screen

Hi

When the PC reboots after copying files it should then read from the boot device, it may be possible that the BIOS is set incorrectly with the boot device not being set as the bootable drive.

Go into BIOS and ensure that the first bootable device is the HD you are loading windows onto, also remove any devices attached to the bootable drive such as any slave drives and that the jumper is set to master, not slave or cable select, if the CD rom that you are loading windows from is slaved to the master drive then place it on its own IDE channel and rerun the setup from scratch.

The only other time I have seen this happen is when the drive itself is flaky, that was only once though and I had to replace the drive.

Regards

I have a macro that marks correct answers based on the correct value in B2 - B17 and AI2 - AI17 being the wrong answer.
Also if B2 - B17 is entered incorrectly that cell color turns red. If the answer is correct the cell color turns yellow and is added up at the bottom.

What my macro does not do is change the cell color to red if C2 - AI2 does not match B2 or AI17. Also if AI2 - AI17 is not entered correctly the cell color should change. Here is the macro. Also a file is attached with the macros. When the changes are made to the macro it should find mistakes in the attached file, some of the cells that are wrong are C2, D2, C3, D3, C15 there are others that are wrong.

Code:

Sub Update()

Dim Rng2 As Range
Dim bMatch As Boolean
Dim origRng As Range

I'm looking for a software that allows me to see a picture (jpg, etc...) in full screen but at the same time that I can have at half screen able to for example use Word 2013 at the same time

When I use Windows Photo Viewer the only way to see a picture full screen is playing the slide show and then pressing pause so that the pic does not change, but when I have it at half screen the rest of the screen is black I cannot have my screen with another program to write on there.

which pic software may allow that?

I'm not looking for advanced photo programs because I don't want to edit the pic just to see it in full screen.

A:full screen photo viewer at half screen

To start, there is a difference between the Maximize/Restore button in the middle of the 3 at top right corner of windows and the feature of Full Screen gained by toggling the F11 key on most computers. Using Full Screen allows viewing but not toolbars, Taskbar, etc. One way of getting part of what you want is to have two windows/programs open and right-click the Taskbar to choose how the windows are displayed. Clicking in the middle of the image windows to get the focus on it then pressing F11 should show the image plus it wouldn't affect the other program. It probably would work better if using a 23" or larger monitor or using 2 monitors, splitting the tasks between them.

I have no idea why, but this just randomly happened today while I was moving around files on an external drive.

This is what the first few rows of icons should look like, but it's like everything under the word "Start" was moved down and partially off the screen. I don't know how to get it back, or which process to attempt restarting (is the Start screen handled by the explorer.exe process?)

Also, the right-click menu (which is usually on the bottom) is completely hidden, so I can't use any of that functionality.

Hi, I have this 4 year old Lenovo Y560(config below)

The discrete graphic card has probably fried a long time ago, so last year when I did a clean install of Windows, I had to disable ATI Card permanently in the device manager using safe mode and used the Intel integrated card. A few days ago, I booted up windows only to encounter, "A disk read error has occurred, press ctrl+alt+del to restart" . I tried to boot up using WIN 7 install disc, but soon after the Starting Windows logo , the screen turns black and I am left with a cursor in a black screen. I tried to boot into Safe Mode but still I encountered a black screen with just the cursor .

I booted with Ubuntu live usb and was able to access all my partition and did back up and even formatted the Windows Partition. I tried to boot using a WinPe and faced the Black screen with a cursor again. I even reset BIOS to default, changed Graphics Adapter from "Discrete' to "Switchable' and vice-versa, but no effect at all. When I boot up using Ubuntu and ran lspci | grep VGA I can see both cards listed. I even tried to boot up using Windows 10 preview disk, still I get a black screen after the Windows loading screen.

I can't afford to buy any laptop presently since I am currently at college, so using Ubuntu for now. Is ther any way to install Windows 7 again? Is it possible to get the ATI Card working properly- reballing, reflow?

A:Black Screen During WIN 7 POST , Black Screen Even In Safe Mode

What other graphics adapter choices are available in BIOS setup? If you choose Switchable is there software on the Lenovo site for your model that's needed? Are you using the Display adapter software from there?

Have you tested your HD with the maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan, followed by a full Disk Check on a single disk partition you create?

Then work through the steps for Overcoming Windows 7 Installation Failures - Windows 7 Help Forums including trying an alternate install method (disk><flash stick) with new media. These steps overcome almost all install failures, so you'll be reasonably sure the problem is hardware or BIOS settings if nothing works. But don't skip any steps.

Try Clean Install Windows 10 Technical Preview to see if there's any difference with a more modern OS install. It's already a very polished OS and worth testing this.

My daughter has a Vostro 1000 with Windows XP. When she came home, the screen shows approximately a third of the screen starting from the top and is horizontal. I cannot reload the video card as there is not enough screen displayed to choose to re-load. Any suggestions on what my problem could be and options to correct?

A:Half screen

From the limited info you gave, I would suspect either the monitor its self is going bad or perhaps the buttons that control the veiw on the monitor just need to be adjusted. Im not sure if a Vostro 1000 is a desktop with a seperate monitor or a laptop. If its a laptop you might try plugging in an external monitor if your able. If that monitor works correctly it may very well be the monitor itself. Does that make sense? Let me know so that I can better assist you.

I got my new pc back in January of this year and everything has been fine for the first couple months. Recently there has been this problem where the display of the monitor flips sides. It is difficult to describe so I attached a picture of what happens. It occurs when I am playing a game or watching a video, which I assume would be graphics card related. The card is and AMD Radeon 6950 with no overclocking, everything in the pc is running at its default settings. This has been a problem for 2 or 3 weeks and is really bothering me. Hi there,

I have had a strange problem lately. When I start up my laptop, only the top half of the screen is showing what it is supposed to, the bottom half stays white or, alternatively, striped. The hard drive functions without problems.
After a bit of play (switching the laptop on and off several times etc) and warm-up (about 20-30min), the bottom half of the screen starts to become visible very slowly, but foggy and flickery, and improves gradually til everything is back to normal after about 30-60 min. As soon as everything is in place again, the screen functions as if nothing happened, without a flicker, for the rest of the day.

I know, this really sounds like a hardware problem, but the first appearance of that strange behaviour conincided with a massive malware/ spyware/ virus attack.

Is it possible the screen thingy has anything to do with the virus attack or is it definitely a hardware problem?

NZ

A:only half of screen visible

enzet-
Try re-installing the driver for the video card. As to the malware/spyware attack- do you think you were 100% successfull in efforts to clean up the computer.
On the surface one would suspect that the screen is going- but I have not owned a laptop and therefore have no experience with them nor do I know about their longevity. Malware/spyware and viruses can affect all aspects of
computers -that I am certain of though. I would try the above first. Second I would make sure I have all windows updates.

I presume that this occurs while plugged in and with battery use?

Let us know how it works out.

Half of my screen plays.Sometimes if i move my computer the screen turns diffrent colors like green with lines or light blue with lines or grey with lines.Nothing is on the screen but those colors. If i mess with screen ,sometimes it will play .But half of screen will play. The other half will be grey or white. When the screen is playing on top half screen, i cant do anything on white or grey side but i can do everything on top watch movies ,download ,go into my files ect. I have a HP PAVILION DV5000 and i am running xp.Someone told me it might be my inverter .I have changed it but it is still doing the something.

A:Screen Plays Half Way

The problem could be a bad LCD screen for sure. Since you ruled out the inverter by changing it out, the problem could be a bad LCD screen or a bad videocard.

To make sure if the videocard is the one to blame, I recommend hooking the laptop's monitor port to an external computer monitor. If the picture on the external monitor appears ok, then the videocard is good and the LCD is the anomaly.

Overall it could be a bad LCD screen.

Sorry if I answered the product information incorrectly and unclearly, but I still hope someone can help. Almost all the time, half of my laptop shows randomly colored lines and I have to either hold the screen or hit it lightly for it to show the full screen. It's a mirical when it actually shows the full screen like now. Almost nearly the slightest movement will cause half of the screen to go crazy with colors. I'm pretty much afraid to move it or put it down unless I am going to have to not be on it for a while. I have had this laptop for about four years, if that helps. The laptop will sometimes show rainbow colors only in the middle of the screen rather than on the whole half of the screen. One side is always uneffected (The left side). It began about a few weeks ago, but wasn't a big problem until now. I don't take it much out of the house. While carrying it from one room to another, I may have accidently hit it (if that helps). Would I need tools to fix it, an expert to fix it, or would it be better to buy a new one entirely?

Hi there,

Since then I havent been able to get to the log in screen, it merely goes to the black screen with cursor, and Safe Mode is just a black screen with Safe Mode in each corner. Anything I can do to fix this?

I have been struggling with an intermittent problem for many months, and it is getting worse. I am running windows vista on a toshiba satellite laptop.

My screen will go dark (not quite as black as when the computer is off) when I am using it, and although the computer is still working, I cannot see the screen. Then, on startup, I can occasionally see flashes of the startup logo, which is enough to let me know it is loading. My cursor quits working as well.

After I run spybot in safe mode, and run it again at startup, it works for some time. (This last time was 2 days). So I believe I have a nasty virus. I run Norton 360 all the time, spybot rather frequently, and malaware bytes about once a month.

I am able to get it in safe mode by hitting the down arrow once, and hitting enter.

It is very frustrating. I don't think it is the video card, as it is repaired after spybot use.

Any suggestions?

A:Startup screen flickers to black, then all black screen

That is weird situation I'd say. I am unsure what actually is the issue here, perhaps one way of finding what may be happening is having a look at your Event Viewer Logs. You can find Event Viewer, in Control Panel, Administrative Tools.

Also please follow these 8-steps, and post your logs at Malware and Virus Removal Forum for analysis. Regards

A:Half my laptop screen has gone grey!

Try to gently flex the screen, or press around the periphery of the LCD (on the plastic bezel). If the screen comes back, it's on it's way out. You may be able to flex it to fix it for a while, but eventually that will no longer work.

It's possible that it is a cable (internal), but less likely.

You should be able to connect an external monitor and see the entire screen.

To be sure, somewhere, some settings were changed, and it looks weird.

Does it remain like that after a reboot? Have you tried to pick another screen resolution and then switch back?

This is kind of an odd problem and I'm completely at a loss on what to make of it. My daughter has a 17" LCD ViewSonic monitor (about two years old) on her WinXP computer. A few months ago it started acting strange when the computer was started. On startup you could only see half the screen. The POST screen was displayed, but you could only see the bottom half of it--and that was all on the top half of the monitor--the bottom half was black. And when Windows loaded, the splash screen was displayed the same way--only the bottom half showed, and that was all pushed up to the top half of the screen. (It's as if the display is printed on a window shade that's rolled halfway up.) After Windows loaded everything was fine and the display was normal.

I figured it was probably a driver issue, so I updated the graphics and monitor drivers but that didn't fix the problem. Since everything else worked OK, we didn't worry about it any more.

But then last week she got a (relatively) new computer, hooked it up, and the same boot-up display problem was there. Still not a big deal, except she installed some programs for her 4-year-old (something from a Jumpstart Learning series) and those programs show the same problem--you can only see the bottom half of the display and the bottom of the screen is black. All other programs run and display normally, and there's no problem at all with a different monitor hooked up.

So it must be a monitor problem, right? B... Read more

Hellow all and thanks for any help...
Here is my problem...
When I load a game, anygame, the game loads as if there is 2 monitors, there is only half of the screen showing. I only have 1 monitor set up. I dont know how it happened. This has happened before and I went somewhere and found a box and clicked somthing like "only use one monitor" and either in that same box, or a different one, I remember that there was 2 boxes, one with a 1 in it and the other with a 2 in it which was smaller than the first. I also have a Geforce FX 5200 128 MB video card, the "only use one monitor" might have been in there but I cant seem to find it. Please help, as I can not play any games at the moment....if you need more info, let me know.
And this only happens when I play games, AOL and anyother thing shows up fine, nothing cut off
Thanks

A:Can only see half of the screen when I play games

I have the same card and got the same problem. Pretty sure it has something to do with antialiasing or anisotrophic filtering. Turn these off in your nvidia settings and should all be good. I think its just the antialiasing setting though. Only happens on some games for me.

I've been using windows media player classic and also KM player in an attempt to play some DVDs - a few of which will only play on the left half of the screen in a compressed window. I have tried to expand, stretch, whatever, to get a normal size with no luck. I have tried VLC player, but the latest version of VLC sucks and frequently stalls out. Does anyone know what the problem might be? I just want to view the DVD in normal size over the full screen of my laptop.

Been having a problem with a green screen that covers exactly half of my screen since yesterday. Had my sony vaio all in one desktop for about 2-3 years now and never had any similar problems like this. I suspect it may be a hardware problem and have contacted sony support but they were unhelpful. I was hoping to try this first before sending it in for service due to the likely fact of sony overcharging me. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Please see picture attachment of the pc.

Running MSIE 6 on Winxp. Any web pages opened up only use just over half the width of the screen leaving just under a half a screen of blank space on the right. This is on almost all pages - some others take up half the screen directly in the middle of the screen but leaves a blank strip either side of the middle.

Thanks

i am having a tough problem with a game that i recently bought, the X-com Collector's Edition from Microprose. the dos version was reformatted to windows 95/98. however, when i load the game, the viewable area only takes up the top half of the screen, so it is very hard to read things and the graphics are all distorted. i tried changing all the settings on my computer, but nothing seemed to work. if you understand any of this, i would please like some help asap. i spent 30 bucks on the thing, and i can barely use it.

well, thanks for your help!

A:videogame problem (half-screen)

Is the game running in a dos window or in windows itself? If in a dos window there is a button at the top with a small blue box on it. In the box are for little red arrows pointing up, down, left, and right. Click on that button and the dos window will go to full screen.

Have just reinstalled 7 Pro on my wayward Asus G750JM a the original drive was not cloning to a larger drive.
Now everything is up and going but the IE11 browser opens the first time in a half scree see pic and also the BIOS keeps resetting the first boot to a secondary drive I have in for imaging. That I suppose can ne resolved by taking out that drive but the browser is driving me nuts

The look I want is the other pic and I have tried everything I can think of to get this problem solved . Any ideas please.

A:Browser screen half size

I experienced something similar after I had used the "Show windows stacked" option.

The windows that I had previously stacked kept opening as if they were still stacked.
I toggled the "Show windows stacked" option a few times and eventually the issue went away.

You might be able to fix it by running CCleaner with the "Window Size/Location Cache" option selected.

When I maximize any application it fills the top half of the screen and I cannot get it to fill the entire screen. Also all desktop icons are now on the top half of the screen as well. When I try to drag them to the bottom they go right back to the top half. Software or hardware was not changed, went home with it working and the next morning it was doing this. I did not see any threads for this problem.

A:Maximized panes only take up top half of the screen

I have a Toshiba Tecra 8200 running windows 2000 pro.

On boot up the screen works completely fine in the loading and windows icon. Over the course of about 60 seconds, the bottom half of the screen turns white and will alternatively flash back to gray, etc. The bottom half usually turns all white after windows is completely loaded.

An external monitor displays fine. I ripped into the screen to verify all cables were secure and it did not improve

I would normally say the lcd is busted, but it does work on boot up which confuses me. Video card is probably okay because it displays fine on an external monitor. Do you think the drivers might be out of sorts or is it indeed a failing lcd? Thanks guys.

A:Laptop screen only showing top half

Yeah, sounds like a driver problem to me. Toshiba has drivers for the Tecra available at its website, I'd bet downloading the latest drivers for video will solve your problem.

I've had trouble with those Tecra's, I have one hooked up to life support in the lab right now, actually! Driver installation is a little weird for them (I had to reboot the machine several times before the video drivers 'caught')

So I have a Toshiba laptop with the following specs. XP Pro SP3, 2GB Ram, 100GB hd. Recently it got some virus's that disabled all usb ports, and internet connections. I used Malwarebytes and SuperAntispyware to get rid of them and it worked fine except I think something is running the the backround. At start up I can see my backround picture and after a couple of minutes once everything finishes starting up I White Block or Window that covers up my desktop. (Half of it anyway). I tried using Autoruns but I don't know what I'm looking at and I don't want to mess anything up. It also looks like its running on safe mode for some reason although its not. Everything is real classic looking.
Can anyone help?

Thank you

Any chance you can take a photo of the screen and put the file on a share website? This one requires no account:http://www.zippyshare.com/Check that the screen resolution matches the native / default resolution specified. Also check the refresh rate - normally 60 Hz for LCD screens and monitors.Let us know the computer make and model number too.Try another monitor (or an external one if it's a laptop).Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

I have an old game that I am able to run on my Windows 98 machine. The game runs in 640 by 480 graphics mode. When I try to run this game on a Windows NT machine, it goes to DOS mode and runs, but only the left half of the game screen is visible. In other words, the game runs in full screen mode, but the screen only shows me the left half of the game. The mouse works and is recognized by the game. I also tried to run the game on a Windows 2000 machine and had the same problem (the screen only contains half of the game). Hitting alt-enter makes the program go to window mode but FROZEN is added to the title and the program appears to be stopped and still only the left half is visible. Hitting alt-enter again to go back to full-screen mode resumes the game, but the display still shows only the left half. So, how do I get this game to run on these NT and 2000 machines? Or, am I just not able to run this old DOS game?

Thanks for any help.

A:Only half of screen visible for DOS game.

Windows NT and 2000 don't run DOS games very well. Your best bet to get the game working on the PC is to setup a MS-DOS boot option. Which is controlled by BOOT.INI file. Let us know if you need details.
