CheckPoint VPN Causing Error #1075

Q: CheckPoint VPN Causing Error #1075

Need help solving Error #1075 problem in conjunction with CheckPoint VPN NGX R60 HFA3. I am using a Dell E6510 laptop computer running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit OS. I can get this VPN to run and connect when I use Microsoft's XP virtual machine sitting on the Windows 7 desktop but I cannot get it to run on the Windows 7 desktop by itself.

Although the VPN seems to load without incident the associated icon "key" does not appear in the notification tray at the lower right. It does appear in the XP virtual machine and on a separate HP desk top running Vista.

When I type services.msc at the Win 7 command prompt I get a list of all the loaded services including the CheckPoint VPN. It is at this point when I try to start the VPN I get the 1075 error. When I check the dependencies under the VPN I find the "CheckPoint Office Mode Module" and the "VPN-1 Module".

How do I determine if these dependencies are causing the 1075 error message? What steps do I need to take to resolve the error message so the VPN will start?

make sure your Firewall is allowing the following:
SR_SDS.EXE
SR_GUI.EXE
SR_WATCHDOG.EXE
SR_SERVICE.EXE

If you're running 3rd party software FW, disable or uninstall it.

Recently purchased a new computer. I was having issues with installing Windows 7 and learned that HyperTransport is sometimes the cause of the issue and by turning it from "Auto" in the BIOS settings to "X1" can resolve the issue, and for me it did.

After installing Windows 7 and waiting to see if there were any other errors I went back to turn HyperTransport back to "Auto" I'm above computer savvy, but not far when it comes to hardware, I'm more of a software kind of guy. After doing so I was receiving consistent BSOD's. And after turning HyberTransport back to "X1" they went away narrowing it down to this being my issue.

I didn't know if updating my BIOS would help the issue so I decided to ask around first.

Computer Specs:

AMD Phenom II X6 1075T with HyperTransport
Gigabyte GA-870A-UD3
8Gig of Corsair Dominator
ATI Radeon HD 5770 1Gig

I have no idea about the power that any of these pieces should be receiving, nor if that would even be the cause of the problem. Also, windows freezes along with the BSODs saying that a video driver went out but was recovered, I just installed the latest video drivers. At the time of posting this the computer has been running for 2hours without HyperTransport set to "Auto"

Would updating the BIOS fix the problem?

Thank you!

In short, I bought a new processor, which doesn't work because of a USB0 checkpoint error. When i first turned it on, it would load about 1/4 of the way across the BIOS load bar. After turning it off after no progress after 5 minutes several times, it gave me the "Failed at checkpoint USB0" error.

I've reset the CMOS, via battery and jumper, didn't help. I removed all the USB devices, didn't help. I have a dimension 3000 running xp, and i checked on the motherboard specs, to make sure this processor is supported. I have the latest bios update, and the processor should absolutely work. I don't even see a f2/f12 setup option to change the bios settings.

Any ideas?

The full message is error 1075: The dependancy service either does not exist or has been marked for deletion

This started with a tidserv!inf infection. Norton End-Point seems to have deleted all related virus infections, however, I am now unable to start the DHCP service. I have to set a static IP in order to connect to the internet.

I believe tdx.dll was identified as a virus and deleted. it was listed as a dependancy of dhcp but had no descriptor. Currently it is not listed as a dependancy.

I cannot view network shares from this PC nor can I view shares that I host here on other PC's. Only this computer shows up in net places.

I did an sfc /scannow and it told me audiodev.dll and mofd.dll were corrupted and the files in the store have been corrupted.

I had to take ownership with the admin group in order to replace them with extracted copies from my windows cd, but I when I went back to reassign trustedinstaller as the owner it was not listed as an option.

my cd is without service pack and my installed service pack is sp2.

can anyone be of assistance.

A:DHCP error 1075

My dhcp was working for a day but its back down again. i dont know how to recreate the dependancy on tdx

DHCP error 1075--can not start the DHCP client on local computer.Dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion..

Hi thanks for any help you can give.
Machine is a Dell dimension e520
Win XP Media center edition SP 2

I have the original dell discs and access to a working laptop also running win XP [this one]

During a routine virus scan by avira anti vir it quarentined c:\windowes\system32\drivers\netby.sys.

This disabled the DHCP client so no IP traffic
I restored the file but still no luck

After trying to renew the IP and some searching around I found that the HKEY local machine system currentcontrolset services NETbt registry key is missing

In services DHCP cannot be restarted --gives the warning above.
AFD and TCP/IP are in device manager -non plug & play show hidden devices NETbt is not

Can the registry be repaired from the original discs without having to reinstall everything else?
Or is it as easy as inserting the missing registry key?

Thanks Bob

DHCP and TCP/IP can not be started from Services with out the following error.

Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion.

I've checked the dependencies and all are running.

AFD is the only driver common to both DHCP and TCP/IP so I assumed it is either not running or is corrupt..yet when I try to start AFD from the CMD prompt I get...."service is already running.

I have since disabled my Lan Connection via Network Connections as it just sits there trying to acquire ip without ever timing out.

I also performed a registry scan with Registry Booster in Safe Mode. It reported:

1061 System Errors
205 User Errors, and
1 Third Party Error

A cursory review of the log tells me the majority have to do with poorly uninstalled programs. I did NOT let Registry Booster fix anything.

Hello all,

I've noticed that a few people have posted concerning this topic, so I've tried to read up on as many possible solutions before posting. I'm recently recovering from a mild virus infection on my computer, and noticed that after I had run Avast! and Malwarebytes to remove the virus, my computer lost its internet functionality. Upon running ipconfig in command prompt, I noticed that the computer was not being assigned an IP address, which lead me to believe there could be an issue with DHCP.

When running services.msc, I notice that both DHCP client and TCP/IP netbios are not running, and when I try to run them, I get an error 1075, that the files are "either non-existent or marked for deletion". I noticed that someone else had posted a very similar problem, but a few of the more advanced fixes seemed specifically tailored for their issue.

Below are the fixes I've attempted thus far -

1. Checked the registry for DHCP?s dependencies (3 are listed, Afd, Tcpip, and NetBT).
2. Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults by typing ?netsh int ip reset reset.log? into command prompt.
3. Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults by typing ?netsh winsock reset catalog? into command prompt.
4. Ran ?sfc /scannow? with an XP SP3 CD.

I'm currently running Windows XP Media Center, Service Pack 3 on a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop I had purchased in mid-2006.

Greetings,
I am having a major DHCP error on my girlfriend's laptop. I am primarily a Linux user so I'm kinda lost here as her machine is running XP. It's a Dell XPS M1210 which, conveniently, did not come with a recovery CD or even partition.
Anyway, a few weeks ago her wireless network device stopped working. It would look like it was connecting, but it would hang on "Acquiring network address." At first I thought maybe the device was shot, until I had the chance to test out the wired ethernet, which has the same problem.
After quite a bit of googling, I ran services.msc, and saw that DHCP is not running. When I try to start it from that menu, however, I get this message: "Could not start the DHCP Client service on Local computer. Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion."
After more googling, I discovered that DHCP has only 3 dependencies: TCP/IP, AFD, and NetBt. I checked the registry, and those were the only ones listed.
After even more googling, I ran devmgmt.msc and selected "show hidden devices" and double clicked on "non plug and play devices." I TCP/IP and AFD are both there. NetBt, however, is not.
I've spent hours doing further googling and tried pretty much every fix I could find and nothing seems to work. If the PC had shipped with a recovery CD I imagine this would be easy to fix but alas no luck. I need to get this working so I can set up my new internets and I... Read more

I have read through the original thread (now closed) and tried all it's suggestions. However, I am still having the same IP (on lack of) issues. I ended my efforts with the running of SFC /SCANNOW which took a considerable amount of time, but resulted in no errors of any kind.

I continue to get the Error 1075: the dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion, message when trying to start the DHCP Client.

I'm afraid searching the suggested logs for the dependency items it a little over my head.

A little background for my situation. The computer in question is my teenage daughters. A week ago she started having problems with the internet and I'm assuming this is some sort of virus. Whenever selecting a website to launch to, something intervenes and chooses some alternate website. Never the same one twice. I loaded AVAST free version and did a scan. I also updated Malware Bytes and did another scan. I then loaded Kaspersky TDDS killer and did a scan with that. After all that, and roughly 15 files quarantined and deleted, I now have this IP problem. I cannot restore the computer back to an earlier time.

Help would be greatly appreciated!

DHCP Client will not start from services menu and neither will TCP/IP all other networking services appear to be started and working.

DHCP dependencies are:

AFD Networking Support Environment
TCP/IP Protocol
IPSEC driver
TCP/IP dependencies are:
AFD

Since the TCP/IP's only dependency is AFD I suspect it has been deleted or corrupted. How do I go about fixing that?

My PC is three years old and has been a great machine. I run Windows XP Home Edition, I.E. 7 and have all the protection installed I can find.

Quite by accident I discovered my System Restore is not working. I don't need it at the moment (!!!) but I like everything to be as near as perfect as possible on my PC so I have been trying to discover what the SR problem is and how I can resolve it.

I keep getting the message "S R is not able to protect your computer. Please restart and run SR again"............This advice does not work. for me!
I cannot turn off SR for the same reason.

I then checked out this section of the forum and discovered that many people have had this same problem. I have tried downloading Kelly's file 238 (I think that was the number) ; I have tried accessing services.msc ; I have tried accessing i386: nothing!

I did get the message "Error 1075: "Dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion". This error seeems to apply to many facilities on a PC.

I have my windows XP disk but cannot lay my hands on the SP2 one so I don't want to mess about without your professional advice to do so!! (apologies!)

As I said, if you solve my problem you will be miracle workers and worthy of your wings.

My thanks for any help you can offer me.

Another workaround would be searching for sr.inf, right click it and select "Install". You might need Window XP install disc.

This is my sister's netbook. The problems started with one of those new "fake antivirus" that puts up a ton of obviously fake results that claim your computer is highly infected*. She being... less technologically inclined apparently decided to run the "Antivirus scan" over and over again over night and then the next day gave it to me to try to figure out what was wrong. I can't find the links right now but I found a bunch of blogs that mentioned (Privacyprotection.exe) and among the most frustrating aspects what that it blocked pretty much everything from running. I did a bit of digging and eventually found out it was a rootkit causing the issues and the tools they gave me wouldn't run but I was able to follow the manual instructions. (remove the .exe, remove the alias, regedit and remove the key that matched privacyprotection.exe but not the other ones like the one underchrome etc). That took care of the major problem and I was able to get Microsoft Security Essentials running but everyscan kept turning up a few "Trojans" and that upon trying to clean would result in an error. The error would lead to 'restart to finish removel'. I tried safe mode and the same result. One top of that google results kept getting redirected (forget the site right now.. something like awesomesearch.com or what have you). I decided to try from another angle the redirect angle and found thishttp://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic422038.htmlI t... Read more

My computer (vista) was infected with a virus. So I first used rkill/iexplore then ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware since my protection (Panda) doesn't seem to do its job correctly. The first time I did this, everything seemed to return to normal. Couple of days later, the same virus started up. I redid what I did...and it seemed to work again...until I tried using the internet. (I think Malwarebytes deleted something in the registry?)

There was an error saying that "DHCP error 1075: The dependancy service either does not exist or has been marked for deletion". I googled this on my laptop and followed some of the instructions found online. None of it worked...

I went into device manager->hiddle files->non plug and play drivers:
There was a problem with these with the same code for them: This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)
App Filter Plugin
NetMon Filter Plugin
Panda Net Driver [TDI Layer]
VSCore mferkdk

Finally, I have included the last three logs from Malwarebytes showing which files were deleted by the program.

Thank you for looking over this!!

Maybe someone could be of help. I have gone through several different forums and have attempted several ways to try to fix this but have had no luck.

I have tried the netsch winsock reset
I have tried the ipconfig /renew
My DNS service starts but my dchp client doesnt want to and gives me the error 1075.
I have removed NAV still nothing.

I have also tried many other alternatives but im just not remembering at the moment and I am just stumped.

Internet works on my other two computers, but my laptop is what seems to not want to connect wirelessly or routed. Something seems to be blocked or missing.

If anyone can please help me in any way possible it would greatly be appreciated. If you need me to provide some more details please let me know.

Hey all!
I am really desperate. I've tried a few things that other people have posted here, especially Cookiegal and Lumpola but this issue persists.

I had a virus. I think I got rid of it. Avast scans and boot time scans and Super Anti Spyware and TDSS killer report all clear. However, the network shield of Avast and the Internet don't work.
Points to note:
1. In services, the DHCP and DNS cannot be started. I get the error 1075: service has been marked for deletion or one of it's dependancies are missing. (close to that)

I've checked the dependancies of both, and reinstated the ADF module in device manager after selecting the 'View Hidden' option.

A:DHCP Server Service -Error 1075 - not starting

2. I've tried deleting the winsock and winsock2 entries in the registry.
3. From the command prompt, SFC/scan now terminates at 82%. thrice.
4. I can see the network, both wired and wireless, I can connect, but it says I have limited connectivity.

A:windows audio: error 1075 the dependency service does not exist or has

From your description there are many more problems than just the windows audio error.

I would suspect an Operating System problem. If you can find a friend to download the Windows 7 Home Premium ISO and burn it to a DVD, that would give you the needed disc to try and repair Windows. Although your DVD drive does not work in Windows, it should work for booting.

Here is the link to the forum post. There are links to the various versions. You can download the same version that you have.

Hello,

On July 12th 2012, my computer installed updates. After rebooting and waiting for me on the login screen, I gave it a hard shutdown to check on the BIOS settings (for a little side project, in the end I did not save any changes). After booting and logging in again, I find that many services are not running. I ran a very thorough check for malware and viruses (took over 24 hours to complete), and still no solutions. I have uninstalled/reinstalled my Broadcom 802.11g Wireless Driver several times.
I now look in the Event Viewer and find that the DHCP Client service is not running! It is set to automatic start in Services.msc, but when I try to manually start it, it gives me error 1075 (some dependencies do not exist or are marked for deletion). Running ipconfig, I notice that my system is using an APIPA-formatted address (169.254.x.x), indicating that the computer couldn't find a DHCP server.

The solution for me was to restore the operating system to an earlier point in time. In windows xp, go to programs> accessories>disk utilities> system restore and follow the directions. I suppose I could have done that for both problems? At least I didn’t have to reinstall XP!

How to Flush DNS in Windows Using the Command Prompt

Step 1 ? Close all open web browsers and applications on your computer.

Step 2 ? Open the Windows command prompt by selecting the ?Start? menu and then go all programs, accessories, then right click command and run as admin.

Step 3 ? At the command prompt, enter ?ipconfig /flushdns? followed by pressing the ?enter? key. After a moment, Windows will display a message similar to: ?Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.? Once the message is displayed, the DNS will be flushed removing all incorrect entries.

Then , we want to get the IP reset, so, lets renew its settings and see if this also helps out :
you will type in the command box : ipconfig /release then enter, then next ipconfig /renew then enter, this will reset the IP , now restart and attempt to have it reconfigure its connections to your router. Post back results please.

Hey everyone,
Hope someone out there knows some Checkpoint

Ok, a brief history on what's been done so far. We were (are) running Checkpoint NG FP3 on a Windows 2000 server box. A couple of weeks ago, I loaded NGX R60 on a new Windows 2003 server box. I used checkpoints "upgrade using exported settings file" when installing NGX. Well, everything seemed great at first, site to site vpn talked back and forth, all internal traffic is getting out, all internal traffic to dmz is working. Ok, great but here's the problem, no traffic from outside the firewall is getting to the dmz. This includes a mail server, our webserver, and our intranet. We've checked the arp tables on the new server, routing tables and made sure all network interfaces match the old server. Another strange thing is that there are no entries in the logs showing any traffic trying to get to those servers either. It's as if checkpoints NAT'ing is all messed up. Like it doesn't know that it's supposed to route those external addresses to the dmz subnet. I'm all out of ideas and Checkpoint's (thousands of dollars a year) support hasn't been much help either. Anyone have a clue what I could try next?

Thanks for any help that can be provided.

I've just been assigned firewall duty with this Checkpoint 4.1 system. I'm having trouble with the log file. Apparently the last person who looked at it didn't do a good job with maintenance and the went back to last year. So it built up this huge file which we can't seem to do anything with. We tried purging and also creating a new log file. The file is so big that the log itself doesn't show up, just a white screen. Any suggestions on how I can fix this? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello there, I currently own a Dell XPS 8700 desktop computer and I have been getting an error message when trying to boot up into WIndows 10. It says No boot device available and says to Strike the F1 key to retry boot, F2 to run the setup utility. It also shows SATA 0-4 and an MSATA with all of them at None except 1 and 3 which say Installed. I struck the F1 key multiple times trying to reboot and got a message saying Alert! Previous attempts to boot this devices have failed at checkpoint 00A2.

Previous attempts at fixing this problem were somehow solved by rebooting over and over again or sometimes leaving the computer on at the error page and rebooting through the BIOS a while later. Unfortunately I can't seem to do it now and that is why I turn to this forum.

I have tried solving this problem using:

Hi All

I'm putting this in the public domain for anyone who wants to know! I use Checkpoint SecuRemote in WinXP and WinVista (both 32 bit) to access work, but decided to try Windows 7 x64 - it's a great OS and I can finally access all 4Gb of RAM - but I've had a helluva time getting SecuRemote to work. In the end I decided:

- SecuRemote is NOT compatible with 64bit Win7
- SecuRemote works with the XP mode install but is not worth the memory/CPU footprint (not to mention VirtualPCbeta won't let me use my old MSDOS/Win31/Win9x/Win2k virtual machines)
- SecuRemote only seems to work from WinXP when installed in virtual PC 2007

Here's what happened:

The "SR_GUI" process would not start up properly in my install of Win7x64 (even with clean install), and the gold key icon would not appear as it should in the taskbar notification area. After some digging around I found this was because the services that "SR_GUI" required were not started ("SR_Service" and "SR_Watchdog"). When I tried to start these services manually in services.msc I got "Error 1075: The service could not be started because the dependencies are missing or have been marked for deletion". I found out the dependent drivers these services needed were "VPN-1" (VPN-1 Module, file "vpn.sys), "FW1" (SecuRemote Miniport driver, file "fw.sys") and "CP_OMM" (CheckPoint Office Manager Module, file "omdrv.sys). These are a... Read more

My computer will not do a restore from a prior checkpoint. It goes through all of the motions, shutsdown windows, restarts and give me a message the the restore did not complete and that no changes were made to the computer. Any ideas?

A:Computer Will not Restore From Prior Checkpoint

Hi heavyhitter51,

Did you try more that one restore point? Often, malware will corrupt the restore points. Try running two or more updated malware scanners. Sometimes one will find malware that the others missed.

Try making a new restore point and see if it will restore to it. If it does, just turn off system restore, reboot then turn it back on. That should remove all the restore points and let it start out fresh.

Best regards,
Mack1

But I don't have Checkpoint VPN installed on my computer. I can't find any sign of it.

Is this something that comes bundled with Windows 10? Should I remove the check marks from the boxes in the Windows Firewall settings? I have Checkpoint VPN and Checkpoint.VPN on the list.

Sorry if this is a silly question, I'm fairly new to Windows 10 and I haven't used the Windows firewall in years. I just recently uninstalled ESET Smart Security and it used to show a list of apps connecting to the internet. I don't recall ever seeing Checkpoint anywhere in ESET's settings either.

Hello.

We are using Checkpoint SecuRemote VPN service in order to access our company network. VPN works perfectly fine with ethernet connection. However, when I use my 3G modem connection, VPN automatically disconnnects after 5-10 seconds.

I searched through web to find a solution, however I couldn't find something useful. People say VPN clients do not support 3G connections? I don't know why.

I'd appreciate any help.

Update: This problem is really a big pain for my job. I'd really appreciate for any help.

Hi all

In windows vista, you could access the system restore checkpoints and manually restore the registry if needed (i.e. totally corrupt, system restore won't work)

The files were located in c:\System Volume Information\_restore{D86480E3-73EF.....D8}\RP1\Snapshot\ etc etc

It was also the same in XP

But I cannot find them in windows 7 - any ideas?

Thanks

What is the difference between checkpoint and system restore point?
onkeljoe

A:difference between checkpoint and system restore point

The name is the only difference, and just indicates what triggered the creation of the Restore point. A checkpoint is automatically created at timed intervals. Other restore points are triggered by a software/update installation, or done manually.

I have a PC that the minute I install checkpoint VPN securemote (not secuclient we do not use that portion) it knocks out Remote Desktop.

I get an error about not being able to connect as soon as I put in the IP or the PC Name. The error states"User Interface Failure. You can not initiate Remote Desktop connection
because the Windows logon software on the remote computer has been replaced by incompatible software ckpginashim.dll" I click okay it closes out the box before I even get to a login screen.

I then look up the file in theregistry and I found that HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\ had a key in it that had ckpginashim.dll in it but used to have msgina.dll in there. I did a backup of this key deleted it and was able to remote desktop in.

The problem is doing this killed the Securemote which is needed. I can reimport this key and use securremote after another reboot but this is a VERY lame way to get Remote Desktop and Checkpoint Securemote to work together.

This software is provided by another company I have already gone back to to find out what we can do right now we are using version NG SP2 of the exe for the securemote install.

I checked the Checkpoint site but none of the downloads looked to match the NG SP2 + rating.

Any thoughts... I don't want to send this out without us being able to Remote Desktop in. The strange thing is this is a Windows XP SP2 install that has this problem on an HP laptop we have other HP XP SP2... Read more

A Sand Trap for Malware

Threat emulation is a key new technique for preventing zero-day and targeted attacks. Keith Bird, UK MD of Check Point explains how this method delivers unmatched protection against both unknown and known threats

THE PHRASE 'KNOW YOUR ENEMY AS WELL AS YOU know yourself' is often quoted in IT security But with the sheer number and complexity of cyber attacks, getting to know the enemy is a huge task. Adversaries line up daily, using a bewildering array of malware threats to try to disrupt operations or stealthily siphon confidential data. And organisations remain vulnerable to zero-day attacks given the volume of new malware that can hide in plain sight in innocuous-looking files. So, although we may not know everything about every enemy, new security technology can reveal vital intelligence that can be used to identify and nullify new risks that arise every day.

Cybercrime has become big business, and as in any other business sector, criminals want to boost revenues and grow market share. To increase the likelihood of success, they target hundreds, even thousands of companies. In 2012 an average of 70,000 to 100,000 malware samples were created and distributed daily -over 10 times more per day than in 2011 and over 100 times more than in 2006. Our 2013 Security Report found that 63% of organizations were infected with bots, and more tha... Read more

So Windows told me to updated to SP2. I finally decided to go for it, when I did it told me to restart so I did. When it went to bootup it showed the decision to Start normally or run last working configuration and 3 safe modes. I tried all of them than tried safe mode. When I went for it it showed me a bunch of words about loading up files and it froze. I restart and noticed the last 2 files it had to load said I could decide not to load those by pressing Esc, so I did and went in tried to system restore. I notice though there was only one checkpoint and it was todays. I tried it but it didn't help. Also I have done System Restore before and there was more than one checkpoint for it, what happened to all of my other checkpoints?

Hi,

I visited my Dad today and he told me his computer was giving him a slew of problems upon reboot. When he reboots, he's presented with this Norton/Symantec error:

"Symantec Email Proxy"
A necessary component for this function is missing or damage. (E:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\ccEmlflt.dll).

1003,1

There's a link for additional information (download and run SymFix_1002-1.exe, and it should fix - which it doesn't.). Step 2 of that additional information is to reinstall Norton. I'll have my brother handle that since he was the one that installed this version of Norton...

The more substantial problem is that on the first run of IE7 now, he gets this error:

A:Norton Error causing Windows Error?

Norton anything is crap. I've never installed it that it didn't cause problems or slow a machine hideously. Uninstall it, and dollars to donuts your problem will go away and the machine will be much happier. (Note: Norton products are notoriously difficult to uninstall properly - you may have to check symantec.com for a removal utility to really clean it up).

Occasionally, a Command Prompt window would appear labeled C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe. Then, an error will appear that is labeled 16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem. The error says:

I was wondering if I might gain some help to fix my PC. It crashes every two or three days, sometimes several times in a row and mostly at startup. I have attached a zip file containing the dump files (the most recent which is dated from today).

Any help is appreciated.

klif.sys was blamed directly as the cause. It is component of Kapersky antivirus software. I would uninstall Kapersky completely.
Removal tool for Kaspersky Lab products
If you need an alternative program to use while not having Kaspersky, please use Microsoft security essential, it is known for BSODs free.

These crashes were caused by several things some of them point to hardware (stop code 124). Please use these instructions to find out what that means and to figure out what to try, especially the graphic card, which has driver appear in many crash dump, I would update graphic driver right away.

I recently put together the PC with vista home premium as my OS. The CD I bought was the upgrade version intended to upgrade my HP running XP. I did upgrade the HP to vista and within a week of headaches went back to xp. THE PROBLEM IM haveing is usually at bootup within five minutes I will get a meesage saying that win needs to shut down the screen will go blue but the messages I am getting are not consistant and it never stays long enought to read all of it. Is there some place that vista stores these critical errors were I can retrieve them and post it. Or is there software that can analyze my pc for icompatable software and hardware. I think I have everything correct wth alot of help from TSF ,but I am not positive about some of the software or if I am missing something because of the upgraded version <Vista home premium> WHAT TO DO

A:Vista error causing shut down

Hi there Joe. . . Good to see you back!

I may be help with your system crashes. You've been with us here at TSF Vista Support for a while now and I believe you probably know that the blue screen that you refer to is actually called "The Blue Screen of Death" (BSOD). Each time a BSOD appears it [should] leaves a memory dump behind that I can run through a debugger and hopefully give you the name of a driver or piece of software that is the most probable cause.

The files should be located in c:\windows\minidump\ and will be named similar to "Mini032108-01.dmp". Get them all.

Two other items that I would like are: (1) A Belarc Advisor report saved in mht format (Top right of IE7 screen; Page; Saved as; save as mht). You can download Belarc HERE. However, before attaching to your post please be sure to delete the information related to your product key codes located about ?way down the report; (2) A DXDiag report - START | type dxdiag into the Start Search box | right-click on dxdiag.exe | select Run as Administrator | respond to User Access Control prompt. Then save this report. You can then either include these two in the same zip file as the dumps or send all of the files as email attachments to me at TSFjcgriff2*at*gmail.com. My results will be posted here in this thread.

I will need some time to process the dumps as I am currently working on others. Also, this is a holiday weekend and I don't expect to be around ve... Read more

I downloaded a torrent and my downloaded files automatically save in My Music folder. It must have given me a virus because now when I open up My Music windows explorer window pops up with the error 'Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.' Also it says access denied when I try to delete this downloaded folder. I have even tried to delete it from the search option in the windows toolbar and the error message will come up again. (this is with windows xp). I don't know what I can do to get rid of it HELP!

3. Uninstall the following via Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel:

* If you have more than one antivirus software installed, leave only ONE and uninstall the others.

* CD emulation software, such as DAEMON Tools or Alcohol, see this link for complete instructions. These can be reinstalled once any malware removal efforts are completed.

* p2p programs like uTorrent, Bittorrent, LimeWire, Morpheus, etc., as they are a major conduit for malware and a likely source of your current issues. See this link

I'm also getting BSODs with the same error code and I have nearly the same setup as you except I only have 512 GB of RAM and a 1.8 GHz Pentium M.

I'm pretty sure the BSOD are being caused by the NVIDIA Geforce Go 6800 drivers since they started occuring when I upgraded to the 78.11 drivers off of Dell's website (though strange Explorer hangs were occurring before that). Also both times I got a BSOD something display related was happening: 1. playing a video in Windows Media Player 10 and 2. Opening the lid (I had disabled Standby on lid close so the computer was not in standby) which causes the display to reset.

I'm also pretty sure it has something to do with enabling the NVidia Desktop Manager since all the problems I've had occur when I enable this.

What video driver are you using and do you have NVidia Desktop Manager enabled?

Hey there. I have added a new network card to my computer, under system devices it is listed as "Realtek RTL8190 802.11n Wireless LAN". When I just plug it in and install it, it works ok but the internet drops every now and then; so I went to update the drivers.

I went into Device manager, right clicked, and updated the drivers. Now, every time I try to shut off my computer it gets to the "shutdown" screen, and freezes. That, or it get past it and it freezes on a black screen. When I try to uninstall the drivers, it freezes. Now, I can uninstall them in safe mode; but can anyone tell me what the problem here is? My brother has the same network card in his computer in the room next to me with updated drivers on Windows Vista, and everything runs fine on his computer. He does not get my same error.
Is this a common problem? Can I still get updated drivers and somehow fix this problem?
Thanks in advance.

A:Vista causing drivers error?!?

Hi LegoLord,

Recommend you download/install/run Malwarebytes from my Signature.
Be sure to run the Update function before each use.

At the end of Malwarebytes run, it will produce a report.
Please paste that report to your reply.

Thanks

HI,
When I turned my computer on, the screen went white behind the desktop icons and I got ab "Active Desktop" error message. I checked the settings for Internet Explorer and saw that they had been changed to
"Never dial"
"Use a proxy server"
"Bypass proxy server for local address."

I changed them back to the defaults and deleted cookies for good measure and when I loaded Internet Explorer I get the error message:

res:// C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SHDOCLC.DLL/dnserror.htm

I loaded Netscape and that works fine.

After loading Netscape and downloading a site, I saw that Internet Explorer had downloaded this site which I had as a shorcut on my desktop.

I was tempted to just download another copy of INternet Explorer but thought that I should figure out what made the settings change - and caused the dns error.

What do you think? Could this be malware? Any suggestions you have would be appreciated. Thanks. -Dan Stanley

* Click here to download HJTsetup.exe.
Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.

Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

One of our users has a work manual that was created In Word 2003 and saved as an HTML document, the manual contains TOC's and links to many PDF and Word Docs.
We recently upgraded from Office 2003 to Office 2007 and since that time the user is having issues modifying the document.
She opens the HTML Manual which opens in IE and then from the File menu chooses Edit with MS Word. She needs to use the Ctrl+Click to navigate the links in the TOC. The links in the TOC often link to other TOC's she can only get about two or three into the TOC's and then she gets a Microsoft Office Word Error:
Microsoft Office Word has encountered a problem and needs to close.....
Then it allows to send an error report or not.

This is keeping her from updating her manual. I have tried this on several machines and the same error occurs.

I do have one machine in the building that still has Office 2003 on it and she is able to do everything she needs with the manual on this machine.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be and how to resolve this issue?
